“He who considers too much will perform little”

“Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts”

                                                                                                          - Winston Churchill

Two more wonderful quotes on my mobile.

And they are so valuable.

How true when we look at success not being final. There never really is a moment when one can with any assurance say that their success is final. Be it in business or in any profession, it never is. And never more so in our film industry. Every day is a struggle for survival. To do better to improve to reach acceptability to succeed. But having got there, no guarantee that it shall sustain or not require care and consideration and attention.

And failure. Never fatal. How can it be, when failure is never the final destination. Yes, the courage to continue is what counts. Because when you continue, you open the possibilities of success. You open the possibilities of overcoming the failure of the past.

When you fail, you reach the bottom of the ladder symbolically. But as you look up you see the rest of the ladder and its steps. Those are the steps where we need to go and climb, to move higher. And this will never happen if we do not put in the courage to try and continue. When we shall resign ourselves to failure we compel ourselves to believe that those steps above us are insurmountable. But how can we ever decide on it unless we try to climb them.

So I get up every morning and look up and see the steps of the staircase of life and I pull myself together to start making the effort to climb. I may tire, not have enough strength and energy, but I must try to continue. And try and try and try and never succumb to that which displays a lack of courage.

Many among you question my desire to continue to work. Many are caustic in their references to my age and my disposition. To them I have but this to say. I may now be at the bottom of the ladder, but so long as I am on it and can see the steps above me, I must continue to may be climb. Not to reach the top again. That would be too presumptuous. But to remain. Just remain on the ladder. At any step.

And may the Almighty give me the courage to be able to do that..

Greetings on the sthapana of Navratra divas..

Greetings for Eid…

Is it not divine that religious celebrations of different beliefs, come together almost at the same time..

These were some of the interesting quotes I received on my mobile and I felt I should share it with my extended family. My mobile attracts other things as well and not just good visual photography.

Well almost.

The disturbing news was a death threat that came on my mobile. It stated as follows -

Mhanayk. Mare jaoge.only 3. de jinda.rhane ki kimt abhitabh.ji.25.cro.’

Translated  it reads - mahanayak, is a word used to describe a great actor, you will be killed. price for remaining alive for 3 days 25 crores.

I received this on my mobile while I was in London, but since I was traveling the same day, I asked my office to inform the police.

Investigations began immediately and the person was traced and as per the police information proceedings have been initiated. The police authority in charge of the matter informs me that he is a person from a city in Rajasthan. Claims to be a look alike of Abhishek, had been around the sets of ‘Drona’ when it was being shot in Rajasthan, has been making claims that he worked in a small role in the film which when I verified is false. Neither Abhshek or Goldie the director have met or had any contact with him. This guy states that he has been in touch with our family; this is completely false. We have never met him. He claims to have got a response to a birthday greeting he sent me. I try and respond to fan mail that wishes me. The police told me he came to Mumbai at the time of Abhishek’s and Aishwarya’s wedding and that a leading tabloid allegedly paid or employed him to pose as Abhishek and set up circumstances or a sting, as these episodes are commonly referred to these days, so that he could find entry to Aishwarya’s residence, just before the wedding. He succeeded in reaching inside the premises of the apartment building and even went up to her flat, unfortunately for him and fortunate for Aishwarya, the wrong one, before he was apprehended. That particular tabloid covered the whole incident as did the electronic media.

I have no further information on the situation as of today.

I must compliment the police force of Maharashtra for having worked so rapidly in getting to the problem and taking suitable action.

Such is life.

My love as ever -

Film City, Mumbai             September 29, 2008           6:30 pm

The sun sets over this great metropolis. Another photograph I took from my little Nokia mobile.

I am at shoot for Luxor/Parker pens in Film City and now I know what was disturbing me all along yesterday night.

I needed to be at work. The studios, the camera, the lights and atmosphere livened me up and I feel stronger and brighter.

I just thought I would let you in on this quickly before I return for my next shot. But I will connect later more expansively.

There is, unfortunately, some more disturbing news, and those in India may read about it tomorrow in the media. I cannot elaborate on it yet for various reasons, but once I have more on it I shall take you into confidence.

Also I see a trial of ‘DRONA’ tonight and shall brief you on that as well. We all need your prayers and good wishes for this huge effort made by these kids, for the 2nd of October.

Love to all
