Al Bustan Palace Intercontinental Hotel, Muscat, Oman
March 12, 2010 Fri 10 : 25 PM
No more intrigue, no more suspense, no more riddles and no conjectures. Its Muscat the capital of this uniquely positioned Sultanate of Oman, South East of the United Arab Emirates, West across the Arabian Sea from the coast of India, salubrious, quiet, peaceful with a distinct culture of its own.
Came in by the morning hour on a flight from Abu Dhabi to a warm and intimate welcome by honored dignitaries that conduct the International Film Festival, and where day after, the Lifetime Achievement Award shall be conferred on me.
The country is unique in its environment - dry picturesque mountains leading into the deep blue crystal clear waters of the sea. And further south I am told, large expanses of green much like our own state of Kerala during the monsoons. I am informed this from our host lady, a Malayalee, so I would imagine she knows what she is talking about. The visuals as one drives out from the airport are modest and not too ostentatious, unlike say, Dubai. There are no high rises and towering structures, indeed nothing glaringly obvious. It is I am told how the ruler wishes it to be. To allow the originality of the area not be disturbed, to maintain much of what it was as it was, but with an emphasis on greening the region. Hundreds of palm line the driveway, equally distanced from one another through patches of manicured and healthy lawns, sprinkled with colored bougainvillea and the kayna, as we call them in India. A million more are to be planted in the coming year as per the wish of the ruler, his fondness for the environment being more than evident.
Many may perhaps wonder why there was this ambiguity on non disclosure of my destination in the past few days, when it has been a recognized practice from me to be doing quite the opposite.
I really have no adequate answer for this except that I just felt like doing it. And may I also inform all those that had started a guessing game on the probabilities of my locale, that none and no one was even close to the actual !!
The ‘opulence’ was the opulence of the structures that I was being exposed to during my travel. Loud, striking and beyond imagination. The philosophical, was the state of my mind in the presence of such an accumulation of abundance, and since it had become too heavy for the readers, many expressing their reaction to it in cricketting terms, as ‘bouncers’, I lightened it up with the next - between two yellows and a green !
Two yellows and a green ! A hint of it from an earlier post. The post with pictures of the painter fan that made exquisite classroom faces of mine in my different avatars, and my mug on the mugs ! Study my picture standing in front admiring the presentation. Did not one of you mention my three watches ? Notice the colors - two yellows and a green ! A yellow and a green watch on the left, and a yellow on the right. Between two yellows and a green ? What do I do when I write to you. I have in font of me the Word Press where I type my post. I have below it the laptop computer. I type with single fingers of both my hands, and when I do, the words that form in front of me are geographically between my two hands - two hands that bear two yellow watches and a green. Hence what appears to you as you read is coming to you ‘between two yellows and a green’ !!
Applause !!
Thank you. And now that the mystery is over we should get on with other concerns.
Anat Magen ! And her horrendous experience with a stranger in her store. Well done Anat ! And thank the Lord for the outcome from the courage that you showed. Not many would have reacted the way you did. Keep well and secure always. Keep that big guy husband next to you all the time !
It is the year of Lifetime Awards ( LTA ). Hong Kong’s Asian Film Festival now wishes to honor me with similar recognition before the end of the month. And so soon after I leave the picturesque shores of Oman, I should be heading further east to receive what I believe, not so much a personal recognition, but one that comes to me as a member of the film industry of India and indeed India itself. Yet another moment when the Indian tricolor shall earn recognition on foreign soil. A moment of pride for me, a fraternity of which I am a part and a country whose citizenship I cherish.
Many among you were disturbed greatly with the images that you saw of Shashi Kapoor at the Filmfare Awards. Yes it was not the most pleasant sight. He has been most reticent for some years now and has avoided public places and visitors. I have been talking to him on the phone now and then and I shall most certainly visit him when I return. And Shashi ji is not ‘nearly 80 years old’. He is just 4 years older than me. Shatrughan Sinha and Vinod Khanna are 4 years younger than me. Jitendra a few months older and Rajesh Khanna a few months younger. And Dharam ji about 6-8 years older.
And while on Shashi Kapoor, here are some moments with him and without him during the making of Ajooba in Russia where it was mostly shot. Ajooba as you all know was directed by him. It has been sent to me by Zhenya from Siberia.
Most of the shooting for Ajooba was done in Yalta, that historic location in the Crimea. The location that boasts of its healing properties in its climate, especially those with breathing problems. To get there you need to land at Simferopol, the airport some distance away from all the resort areas on the Black sea. It is a very long drive through beautiful mountains and forests and the Black Sea clinging along the roads. As you turn into one of the lanes of the highway, a massive mountain rock almost all by itself, uncannily, takes on the figure of a large bear crouching down on its front paws almost, to drink the waters of the sea. Did the legendary Russian Bear take on its symbolic presence from this ?
It was here one evening when taking a walk by the sea side after pack up that I was accosted by a Russian in a shop window, who, from a distance, kept flicking an imaginary coin in the air and twirling his hands as if he were cranking some machine. He did not speak and the Russian translators accompanying me, were unable to make out what he was doing. I kept looking at him in his direction for long and he kept repeating his actions. Until … I realized …He was telling me about Sholay !!! Cute ! Did I ever narrate this to you before ? I was wondering if I did ? Perhaps not !!
The last picture of the child is my favorite. Its the expression on the child’s face that is the most attractive. Scared, cold, bewildered. ” Get me out of here Mom ! Who is this leather coated strange man ? ”
Opulence …..
From the top then. Thats the lobby of the room they put me up in. Next the ceiling. Hmm… thats what I see as I lay my weary head on the pillow of the bed - if you can find it !! The view from my balcony and the view of the the err… euphemism ?? The thingamajig where you do the whatcha macallit ..!!
And this ladies and laydaas … is one of their most ordinary suites. If I were to present to you what lay outside and the lobby and the entrance and the presidential suites … you would not want to know me !!
And this is not Muscat .. its the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. Google it for amazement !
My love to you from serene Muscat …

Dear FmXt, this is only for Sirji, to read. PLEASE…………………
The reason I am requesting you guys not to read is No making fun of this fan. Friends, if you promise NOT TO then, please go ahead…..
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
~~~ Sirji, sorry yeh kahnae ki himaat kar rahe hoon ki AAPKO BHI HAASNA MANA HAI ~~~
Respected Sirji,
You talked about your dream in your previous post. I wish you get a chance to read about this fans dream. Once again requesting PLEASE, please, please DON’T LAUGH…. This is just a true admirer, genuine fan who loves you and somehow is always close to you. Let that be her dream, why not? Dream is in no ones control and there also by God’s grace I am one lucky girl who atleast gets to see, meet & have awesome time with you and your whole family. Main aapko hamesha yeh batati hoon, ki mein aapke poore parivaar ke deewani hoon.
In my 40 years of life there has been so many times that I can’t even count, I have seen you & your family in my dream. Many times in my dream I have seen you & your whole family sitting together in my house at the dinning table we all are enjoying dinner, talking and having so much fun. There were many times, I have even pinch myself in my dream saying, thank Lord every time it used to be my dream but this time it’s reality. Again, after the tight pinch I open my eyes to find out it was sadly my dream, again. I am happy that God atleast sends you to spend time and be with your fan in their dream. I tell my beautiful Bachchan Family dream to all my friends & the members of my family and they all look at me, with a naughty smile, that this Bachchan fan starts once again. Aapko yeh baat to zaroor batana hai — dream mein hi sahi, lekin aap saboon ko ghar ka bana hua khana, garam - garam phulka(roti) ke saath khelati hoon aur aap saab mere haath ka bana hua khana bahut pasand karte hain. Chaliye yeh baat to sach ho gaya ki aap dreams mein bhi aapne fans ka khayal rakhte hain aur unko khus karte hain. God bless you & your whole family, Sirji.
Aab aap bataiye, how would you explain all your fans dreams? I would simply put it this way
God could not be every where so he made Mom/dad & YOU. You are there with us — your fans, you bring smile on their face, & in the end you are a part of our every day life.
We your Fmxt love you more than you can imagine.
I hope you got a chance to read the true story of how I became your fan. My comment is posted on DAY 686, #31. It’s very short & sweet(lot of FmXt members said that). Please read, it Sirji.
But before I end an IMPORTANT/SWEET QUESTION — Have you ever seen your fans in your DREAM? Obviously, I am talking about the blog ones whom you have not met till now. If yes, how did you spent time with them? Anxiously waiting to know your answer. Sirji, just a suggestion — it will be so nice if you can write on your blog all about your cute, funny, weird, crazy, etc…stories of your fans. I know you must have billion stories. But we would love to read few of them that you would like to share. OR 1 small story everyday, that way you can tell us billion stories and live billion days for all your fans. Mazza aa gaya yeh soch kar that you will be there with all of your fans, that long. God bless you, your friends and family, too……..
Love U & your whole family as always but Abhishek a little more
Mydear Sunita (#297)
I am writing in respone to your comments in previous day blog……
My mother was not lucky to have her son like me but I was lucky to have her in my life with such great love and affection she showed to me on daily basis. I was so free with my mother that I use to chat anything and everything in this world without a lie.. That kind of mother-son relationship I use to maintain with her. She is incredible, unbelievable and non stopable with her love, affection ,warm and very easy going in life. She never talks bad about anyone in this world and always have her tendency to forget and forgive not only to her kids but even others ! I have seen rare qualities from my mother for which I was/am the luckiest person on the earth to have such mother… I wouldnt mind again to rebirth in her womb for milllion times. Amma I love you so much that just words or planets are not enough for me to express or live with it !!!
Also Sunita, whatever I have mentioned in my comments are the facts and even through each and everything in my life! Infact i throwed my passport and didnt want to come back to US and said no to job also but destiny took and gave me different turn… Thats how the life is all about !!!
Thanks mydear for your caring and affectionate/condolence words to me. I see you are a great mother and my respects to you and all mothers’ in this world !!!!!!!! So for now Saibaba is my god and also my mother and viceversa. So every thursday I wont miss going to temple and do my dutiful prayers to Baba and see my mother in him….. Thank you for being there and giving me ur condolences . Take care and God bless you and ur family….
Thanks for beautiful photographs.The rooms of the hotel are elegantly furnished. you are getting royal treatment.
Congrats for Life Time Achievement award to be conferred on you today.
Wonderful post .. very very rich desc of Oman .. awesome. Wonderful pictures.
Thank you and keep doing the same. Feels good after two mysterious/abstract posts.
Never realized Ajooba was shot in Yalta! Historic indeed! I think this film was a rather decent effort on Shashi Kapoor’s part and might have done much better in today’s times with some tweaking here and there. I think there was a fair enough script here. People often forget that even fantasies need the right degree of storytelling and emotional resonance just as any other sort of narrative. Today when CGI standards are improving in India it is a bit sad that no one is really interested in tapping into the rich mythological and folktale tradition of India. Quite the opposite in fact. Filmmakers look toward Hollywood paradigms. This frustrates me to no end. I am all for borrowing from any and every tradition but it shouldn’t be the result of blind colonization. Unfortunately this is so in many other genres as well. We see youth oriented multiplex films that seem equivalents of Hollywood Gen X films, thrillers that are Hollywood efforts in Hindi, Hollywood horror clones, on and on and on. The rooted film is so rare. It is not that times have changed because that is always the case but that for a long time now the industry has basically been feeding a multiplex economy that in turn satiates urban upper class or ‘upwardly mobile’ desire. So many other audiences shut out on economic grounds or those of content. This industry is the only one in the world probably that does not maximize its profits and insists on playing to minorities. There is a way of satisfying a universal audience. Aamir showed this with his last two films and which is why he got the sort of gross in each case that his contemporaries haven’t been able to come within striking range of. Not that all films have to be this way. But they should be rooted. True in some sense. Hrishikesh Mukherjee made smaller films compared to Manmohan Desai but both were equally rooted, equally true. But this ‘lack’ shouldn’t surprise anyone. Because most film-makers today are actually not rooted in the way that their parents or people of that generation were. Farhan Akhtar’ life experience is really unbelievably limited compared to what his father’s was. This is reflected in the work of each. It’s not just about talent but also the way in which one has lived life, the degree to which one has been curious about one’s culture and heritage. Very few younger stars display this. Very very few. The same goes for directors. If one does not even have the taste or the sensibility to represent India in one’s film, if one prefers portraying a fantasy version of India, a kind of ‘neverland’, if one prefers dealing with Indians only outside Indian borders, how can one’s films really be true? Even escapist cinema needs to be anchored in some ‘truth’. Nor are there the talents today that there once were but neither is the right sort of talent or life experience valued. The results are there for everyone to see. Once upon a time films whether good or bad were true. Today ‘truth’ seems incidental to the overall framework.
HELLO SIR,
GREAT POST YESTERDAY.YOUR POST MAKES ME TO THINK A LOT WHILE I READ IT AND EVEN AFTER IT.
Hi Amitji,
Welcome to Muscat!! ( my home for 14 years ).
I saw your picture sitting on the sofa at Mr. Anil Wadhwa’s ( India’s Ambassador ) place !! You must be wondering how!! But you did not relaxed at all in the pictures. However, enjoy yuor stay at the Al Bustan Palace !! I just loved that hotel for its beauty!!
Regards,
Rupa J.
Atlanta, USA
If I wasn’t delighted that you are immersing in abundant opulence and lounging in the lap of luxury I may be quite envious! With your penchant for intricate and beautiful architecture you must be in your element.
I googled your ultimate destination in Muscat two days ago, but this spectacular show of ornate masterwork looks far better and what a relief you dispelled with the mystery to reveal all! You are SO cute the way never verbalise the ‘whatcha macallit’, this isn’t the first time. That ‘unmentionable room’ happens to be favourite of all. Oh how I could squander hours, languidly luxuriating in there before those deliciously large mirrors, its heaven on earth! There is no place more heavenly and grandiose than a hotel in Dubai though, but I shall Google and gasp in awe.
Thank you for unravelling many mysteries which I shall too unravel shortly. But just a quick goodnight and wishes for restful sleep before the auspicious awards ceremony tomorrow.
Please do relax and indulge in Serene Muscat it sounds as though you have had another involved day from the moment of arrival. Sweet dreams my dearest Mr Bachchan, which beloved person may visit them.
My love to you straight from the heart,
Jasmine
Dear Amitabh,
I’m a huge admirer of yours and a huge music fanatic. I am currently 19 years old and a huge fan of Hindi music. I have been waiting since I was 6 years old to hear the songs from Gayak (1996) that Big B cassetes had the rights to.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMaYpHrgZ9o a youtube petition
Please Big B, it is my dream to hear these songs in full and I have been praying/hoping for over 13 years for these songs and with no such luck or info!
Please Please listen to my plea and somehow get these songs to my heart just like your movies have filled a huge void in my life with gems like KKKG and Black. Itunes, youtube, online radio, tapes whichever format but please I can’t stand the wait. =[
my email is ishqvishk@gmail.com
Please don’t ignore this! =[=[
Your one of the most powerful figures in bollywood, only you can make it happen . PLEASE please please pleasee
love you sunshine.such nice pictures.the old and the new.thank you for posting them for us.congrats for one more feather in your cap.love you always.pradipta
Thanks for solving the mysteries of where you are and what you see. I would never have guessed the watches. And judging by those photos, opulence is definitely the correct word. And thank you for those pictures and the descriptions of Muscat and Yalta. I think my traveling days are over so now I travel through your blog.
It’s good to hear that the ruler cares about the environment and is trying to leave it as natural as possible. Congratulations on the LTA awards coming up both in Muscat and Hong Kong. Again you are modest on believeing it is you whom they honor.
I love those photos from Ajooba. You look gorgeous. The child doesn’t know how lucky he is!
Can you give Sashi our best wishes when you visit him after you return?
No, you haven’t narrated that funny story. You have endless adventures to tell us about.
I am jealous of those photos of the Dubai Hotel and the sign-off of serene Muscat. I’m sitting here under cover from the rain in cold and rainy New York.
Enjoy your luxurious travels.
Love,
Rochelle
Dear Sirji,
I did post this story by the end of the day 689. I wanted to share this once again , with everyone who haven’t gotten a chance to read.
When we are all talking about MOTHER, I wanted to share this small story with everyone here………….
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
DO YOU LOVE YOUR MOTHER?
After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie.
She said, “I love you, but I know this other woman also loves you and would love to spend some time with you.”
The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my Mother, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.
That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.
“What’s wrong, are you well,” she asked?
My Mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.
“I thought that it would be pleasant to spend sometime with you”, I responded “just the two of us”. She thought about it for a moment, and then said, “I would like that very much.”
That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary.
She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel’s. “I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed,” she said, as she got into the car.
“They can’t wait to hear about our meeting.”
We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My Mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady.
After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mother sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. “It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small, “she said.
“Then it’s time that you relax and let me return the favor,” I responded. During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation nothing extraordinary but catching upon recent events of each other’s life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, “I’ll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.” I agreed.
“How was your dinner date?” asked my wife when I got home. “Very nice, much more so than I could have imagined,” I answered.
A few days later, my Mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn’t have a chance to do anything for her. Some time ater, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place Mother and I had dined. An attached note said: “I paid this bill in advance. I wasn’t sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son.”
At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: “I love YOU” and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till “some other time.”
%%%%%% “YOUR HEAVEN LIES UNDER THE FEET OF YOUR MOTHER” %%%%%%
Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you’ve had a baby …. somebody doesn’t know that once you’re a Mother,”normal” is history.
Somebody said you can’t love the second child as much as you love the first …. somebody doesn’t have two or more children.
Somebody said the hardest part of being a Mother is labor and delivery
somebody never watched her “baby” get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten or on a plane headed for military “boot camp.”
Somebody said a Mother can stop worrying after her child gets married
somebody doesn’t know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in- law to a Mother’s heartstrings.
Somebody said a Mother’s job is done when her last child leaves home ….
somebody never had grandchildren.
Somebody said your Mother knows you love her, so you don’t need to tell her ….
somebody isn’t a Mother.
This is for all the “Mothers” in your life and to everyone who ever had a mother. This isn’t just about being a Mother; it’s about appreciating the people in your lives while you have them no matter who that person is.
Watch your Thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your Habits, they become character.
Watch your Character, for it becomes your Destiny…
Hi Mr B,
Muscat sounds a lot like Bahrain. Congratulations on the award.
DAMN! Why did I not know Shashi Kapoor directed Ajooba..I grew up on a heavy diet of your films of the 80s, and the killer boots you wore in the days…
About the 3 watches: did you know you can programme ONE digital watch to simultaneously display several time zones…? Just a thought.
Be careful, the watdya macallit has a helluva lot of mirrors…
Love,
Shams
Hello Amitji,
Wonderfull pictures. I love the last one too. Please share your more moments with Shashiji on Ajooba.
I feel that I am travelling with you.
With best regards and Congrates for Life time achivement award… and more to come….
Opulence of abundence..Reminds us of a member’s house from
your beloved fraternity. I am sure your two yellows and a green would have been impossible to decipher (you were a bit too Technical for comfort..:) )
Dearest Amitji,
Being a hardcore fan of you, it was my dream to write a letter to you.
I tried so many times writing but never dared to send you.
I really feel short of words to express my feelings for you, you are truely a blessing for us.
Watching your performances in Anand, Deewar, Kalapathhar, Trishul, Bemisaal, Don, Aakhari Rasta, Main Azad Hun (&……..so many till Paa) is still the tremendous joyful treat.
Few days back saw “Abhiman” (might be 50-60th times), what a movie it was & so as the performances of you & Jayaji.
We will really like to hear some more from you on the making of “Abhiman”.The chemistry between you, Jayaji & Hrishikesh Mukharji.
Lots of love to you & Jayaji.
By the way just want to share a good news with you, I got a son on 11th March.
I will be the happiest person if you can give your blessings to him.
Dear Mr Bachchan
Wow! You’re really smokin’ tonight!
The phrase springing from that long gone Jim Carrey movie The Mask, where the maniacal lead character would cackle something like “Watch me now…. I’m SMOKIN!” when he was feeling particularly demonic…
Or have you been playing The Riddler? That yellow and green conundrum had us ALL foxed?
And as for the ‘euphemism’ and the ‘watchamacallit’… Mr Bachchan you truly can outBritish the old devils when it comes to that ridiculous sense of humour….
I loved every bit of your rollercoaster tour tonight.. the bear shaped Russian rock… the little cub in your huge furry paws with the most devastatingly cute ‘I’m NOT feeling huggy’ expression… (and wouldn’t it be just priceless if we could find the youngster now very grown up and doubtless wishing they could turn back the clock to that very moment…)
And what is it with black and white photos… they just get to us every time.. these were inexpressibly lovely..
And NO you never told us the Russian narrating Sholay story… that alone would be ‘worth the price of admission’ to tonight’s blog… except you bestow all this bounty on us FOR FREE. Are you insane??
Have a fantastic time in Muscat, and Hong Kong too. Looks amazing from all the footage I’ve seen.
With love from Daisy
I am in convulsions at your entire
Dear Amitji,
My three year old son knows that I am a big fan of you…everytime he sees you on TV, he comes running to me shouting “Dadddyyy…your favorite…Amta Bachhen…” And we both run back to the TV to catch that glimpse of your’s…
Regards,
Vivek
Amitji,
I should not be calling you by first name as per our tradition but don’t know how to refer to you otherwise.
I just sometimes get mesmerized by the way people respect you, love you, worship you. I feel within how can someone be so influenced by someone ?
But when I read your blogs I just keep on reading them on and on and on. I truly remark your effort to write such long blogs religiously this month. The way you make a part of your life through your blogs. The way you allow us to peep into your life and understand what and how you think. And how aptly and how much do you think. I would never care think about things that you think but your posts make me feel that way.
I liked the way you described age of you and your counterparts and gave us a small reference into how different of same ages can be .
Also posting the pictures of your suite and describing beauty of Oman i just felt like i have been to the place with you.
Its great to learn how much you travel and how much you still enjoy life even at this age.
I always give your example to my father and father -in-law who are near retirement and retired respectively, that when Amitji can do so much at this age then why can’t you. Keep enjoying is the only advice or suggestion that I make to them.
Well done Arthur Canon Doyle!!! I do remember Fatima asking you about the watches and if you responded to her on the blog I am sure one of us would have guessed it. My next client is impatiently waiting and I have to go but all the best and Congratulations. Enjoyed your post though I had to skim through it
Hi Amit je,
it would be great to publish the visitor stats of your blog once in a while, it may seem pompous coming from you, but you can blame it on this fan of yours.
I stand corrected. NOT 80, just a mere threescore years and ten…
It’s seventy-something, I’m sorry, but as I have said here before I am not great with numbers…
I guess, bottom line, it is not the number of years one lives, but the amount of living one puts into them…
“Knowing that your life is short, to enjoy it day after day, moment after moment, is the life of ‘form is form, and emptiness emptiness.’ When Buddha comes, you will welcome him; when the devil comes, you will welcome him…
When he was ill, someone asked Zen master Ummon ‘how are you?’ And he answered “Sun-faced Buddha and moon-faced Buddha.’ That is the life of ‘form is form and emptiness is emptiness.’
There is no problem. One year of life is good. One hundred years of life are good.”
Shunryu Suzuki, “Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind”
Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride
Wearing white for Eastertide.
Now, of my threescore years and ten,
Twenty will not come again,
And take from seventy springs a score,
It only leaves me fifty more.
And since to look at things in bloom
Fifty springs are little room,
About the woodlands I will go
To see the cherry hung with snow.
What a great post! Thank you! It amuse me in many ways: mystery of colors and places, beauty of Oman, mention of Shashiji and - most of all - CRIMEA, Simferopol and Yalta…
OMG OMG OMG
I’m overjoyed of not only by the opportunity to read your blog every day, but also by the fact that you actually saw and visited places I saw and know of too. It’s so amazing! I hardly can pick the right words right now, frankly.
Crimea now is part of Ukraine after USSR collapsed, so as a citizen and while living close to this region, I was there few times (last summer too). So now I’m just silly of joy that you still remember Simferopol, long road through mountains and lovely sites of Yalta. Bear-look mountain Ayu-Dag you mentioned is my favorite since childhood. It has sweet legend, but I’m afraid it’s not the reason of Russian symbolic, ‘cos Crimea became part of Russian Empire not so long ago in historical view - 1783. Really hate to ruin your assumption, but I believe Russian symbol is from far north regions
I saw Ajooba but never knew that it was filmed on the Black Sea coast. But I do remember that mother of your hero was played by Russian actress. It was great time for our countries: we were officially friends, making cultural exchanges, some Indians musicians visited even my VERY small native town and despite I was little girl of 6 or 7 I have really vivid and warm memory of that event. And yes, Sholay was and still is great hit here. Even people who knew nothing about Indian movies have seen or at least heard of this legendary movie. It was called “Месть и закон”/”Revenge and law”. I mean it’s no wonder that people would recognized you and connect with that movie. I wish I was there to see you that times you were shooting ‘Ajooba’ with Shashiji… About him. Just finished watching ‘Suhaag’ few minutes ago and while viewing I thought how cruel life can be with people and how we blessed that you are still so gorgeous and look wonderful despite you not so much younger of Shashiji… May Lord continue bless us with you being healthy and so amazingly handsome!
Oh, I want to tell you much more about my thoughts of you, India and our countries, but I partially speechless of joy, partially afraid of being too annoying and boring. And egoistic, too… So I shall shut myself up now, just repeating: THANK YOU SO MUCH, God bless you, dear Amitji!
With love and respect, Tatiana.
I hope there is a miracle in his life that he can overcome his illness.
The photos of your hotel are surely out of the world. Opulence it its best.
I watched “Amar, Akbar Anthony” last night after so many years and loved it greatly. If it ran in cinemas and multiplexes now it will still do so well. Great film‼
Dearest uncle,
Hope to have found you better than ever before….
Wonderful pictures pictures put up by you……just awesome…….
Following is a wonderful editorial published in a local daily here in Saudi Arabia
As Muslim, why are you not terrorist?’
By Fahad Al-Abri
AN English friend of mine asked me about the relation between Islam and terrorism. He could not understand why as a Muslim I was not a terrorist. In his opinion, as he told me later, I either was not a true Muslim or there was something wrong about the perception he was brought up with regarding Islam and Muslims. His notions were strengthened after the 9/11 attacks. These attacks were carried out by terrorists who unfortunately happened to be Muslim. So the only plausible explanation my friend found for my being tolerant was that I was not a true Muslim.
“Fahad can I ask you a question?” he said in a soft voice, once while having dinner. “Sure,” I replied. “I do not understand how you are Muslim and yet denounce terrorism, while other Muslims commit acts of terrorism?”
I replied saying that good and bad people are found in every community.
Adherents of every religion have both radicals and moderates among them. In the Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah there is no place for radicalism or terrorism. Hence, Muslims who follow Islam correctly see terrorism as a crime against humanity. Islam is a peaceful religion. The word Islam itself comes from the word “peace.” God commands believers to bring peace and security in the world, not the opposite. We consider Islamic teachings as the cure for terrorism, and not the source of it.
The source of terrorism is radicalism that has little to do with Islam. Radicalism is not the approach God has legislated. We are demanded by the Qur’an to be loving and soft-spoken people, who shun conflicts and arguments. Not only this, we are also asked to approach hostile people with warmth and friendship. The story of Moses and Aaron in reference to the Pharaoh of Egypt is a good example. In spite of the enmity between the two parties, God ordered the two prophets as follows: “Go, both of you, to Fir’aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed (all bounds). And speak to him mildly, perhaps he may accept admonition or fear Allah.” (Qur’an, 20:43-44)
Despite Pharaoh’s cruelties towards the Children of Israel and his denial of God, God commanded his prophets to speak to him gently.
There are many such examples of how prophets behaved with others and Muslims have been commanded to follow them. The Qur’an holds all prophets with high regard. Let’s look at the description of Abraham in the Qur’an: “Verily Ibrahim was tender-hearted and forbearing.” (Qur’an, 9:114)
The Qur’an also says about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):
“And by the Mercy of Allah, you dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults), and ask (Allah’s) Forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allah, certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). “ (Qur’an, 3: 159 )
There is another verse that emphasizes this fact:
“And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed, all of them together. So, will you (O Muhammad, peace be upon him) then compel mankind, until they become believers.” (Qur’an, 10:99)
Accordingly, moderate Muslims, who are the majority, do not have hatred for other peoples. They believe there is no coercion in faith or to become Muslims.
No one can force people to worship God. The only thing we do is tendering advice.
For all that has been said, Muslims must stand against terrorism and terrorist groups. Because Islam is the religion of life and terrorism is the doctrine of death.
My English friend was impressed. He said, “It is the first time I have come to know about Islam that is so different from what the Taleban and Al-Qaeda have been preaching.” – SG
Good night
Love you forever……
- Congrats for another Lifetime Achievement to be awarded at International Film Festival.
- Thanks for finally disclosing your whereabouts and btw you have all right to keep it confidential.
- Two yellow and green : I am still confused and have to read that paragraph few many more times and simulate myself in that situation to understand.
- Liked your narration of Shooting of Ajuba in Russia and definitely that baby was dying to get away at that moment. And years after the grown up version of that baby must adore that photo.
- Will definitely ponder on GOOGs for more information on Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. What would be the overnight Tariff? Not sure if I could afford to stay their summer while visiting Dubai.
But Amit jeeee..
Please enlighten us on why do you wear 3 watches all at the same time? One for Indian time, one for French time and the other for????
Cheers
Way to go, dear sister Anat!
***Congratulations on yet another Lifetime Achievement Award, my Dear Sir.
I wish you 10,000 more…all given to you in such lovely, exotic surroundings as this one…you deserve every wonderful thing life has to offer…you deserve this ‘Year of the LTA’…although you may required a DECADE to collect them all!
***Thank you for clearing up the mystery of the yellows and the green…I was way off when I guessed you were looking at a map where the countries were all different colors…ha ha…I knew you were in Muscat, though…
***Thank you for saying ‘I love you’ to me there at the end of this post…
that was very nice. Now, having read those words, I can rest serenely tonight,
here in Florida, USA…I love you, too. God bless you, Mr. Bachchan.
Dear Sirji,
I did post this story by the end of the day 689. I wanted to share this once again , with everyone who haven’t gotten a chance to read.
When we are all talking about MOTHER, I wanted to share this small story with everyone here………….
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
DO YOU LOVE YOUR MOTHER?
After 21 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to take another woman out to dinner and a movie.
She said, “I love you, but I know this other woman also loves you and would love to spend some time with you.”
The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit was my Mother, who has been a widow for 19 years, but the demands of my work and my three children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally.
That night I called to invite her to go out for dinner and a movie.
“What’s wrong, are you well,” she asked?
My Mother is the type of woman who suspects that a late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign of bad news.
“I thought that it would be pleasant to spend sometime with you”, I responded “just the two of us”. She thought about it for a moment, and then said, “I would like that very much.”
That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit nervous. When I arrived at her house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous about our date. She waited in the door with her coat on. She had curled her hair and was wearing the dress that she had worn to celebrate her last wedding anniversary.
She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an angel’s. “I told my friends that I was going to go out with my son, and they were impressed,” she said, as she got into the car.
“They can’t wait to hear about our meeting.”
We went to a restaurant that, although not elegant, was very nice and cozy. My Mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady.
After we sat down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only read large print. Half way through the entries, I lifted my eyes and saw Mother sitting there staring at me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. “It was I who used to have to read the menu when you were small, “she said.
“Then it’s time that you relax and let me return the favor,” I responded. During the dinner, we had an agreeable conversation nothing extraordinary but catching upon recent events of each other’s life. We talked so much that we missed the movie. As we arrived at her house later, she said, “I’ll go out with you again, but only if you let me invite you.” I agreed.
“How was your dinner date?” asked my wife when I got home. “Very nice, much more so than I could have imagined,” I answered.
A few days later, my Mother died of a massive heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn’t have a chance to do anything for her. Some time ater, I received an envelope with a copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place Mother and I had dined. An attached note said: “I paid this bill in advance. I wasn’t sure that I could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two plates - one for you and the other for your wife. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you, son.”
At that moment, I understood the importance of saying in time: “I love YOU” and to give our loved ones the time that they deserve. Nothing in life is more important than your family. Give them the time they deserve, because these things cannot be put off till “some other time.”
%%%%%% “YOUR HEAVEN LIES UNDER THE FEET OF YOUR MOTHER” %%%%%%
Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you’ve had a baby …. somebody doesn’t know that once you’re a Mother,”normal” is history.
Somebody said you can’t love the second child as much as you love the first …. somebody doesn’t have two or more children.
Somebody said the hardest part of being a Mother is labor and delivery
somebody never watched her “baby” get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten or on a plane headed for military “boot camp.”
Somebody said a Mother can stop worrying after her child gets married
somebody doesn’t know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in- law to a Mother’s heartstrings.
Somebody said a Mother’s job is done when her last child leaves home ….
somebody never had grandchildren.
Somebody said your Mother knows you love her, so you don’t need to tell her ….
somebody isn’t a Mother.
This is for all the “Mothers” in your life and to everyone who ever had a mother. This isn’t just about being a Mother; it’s about appreciating the people in your lives while you have them no matter who that person is.
Watch your Thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your Habits, they become character.
Watch your Character, for it becomes your Destiny…
OTHERWISE I FEEL QUITE WELL WHEN I WALK, WHEN I DRINK MY “CAFE STRETTO”, WHEN I MEET FRIENDS, WHEN I EAT TO RESTAURANT, WHEN I READ NEWSPAPER OR A BOOK, WHEN I PRACTISE TABLA, WHEN I HAVE MY INDIAN CLASSICAL SONGS, WHEN I CROSS AN INDIAN PEOPLE( QUITE RARE IN MARSEILLE) WHEN I DRESS, WHEN I LOOK TV, WHEN I READ YOUR BLOG…….
Ok Sir, you have told us a riddle but it isn’t solved!!!!
WHY?
H
Y … do you wear THREE watches?
? …and why THESE colours?
I don’t know the answer to that. Only YOU! Please tell us the reason…
No? What have we done to deserve that?
We only love you…..
Magdalena
Dear Sir,
Beautiful photo’s aand i like the second one of yours & thats the Bachchan we always love to see, to all of us even today where ever & whenever your name is mentioned thats the photo of yours comes to our memory.
Sir, you have got everything almost everything and a lot keeps pouring in and should always do with God’s blessing as the kind of person you are & you deserve it but would you honestly answer a question, is there anything you desire, you wanted most and you have’nt got it and you are waiting for it to come, do you think we can know that, would be good.
Sir, one more thing, what is it that you want to control , would love to control but cannot control as its very tough to control and at times beyond control?
I know for sure you can answer this as only you can control, ya beleive me.
Thanks
Viren
I guess it’s my week for being chastised, up one side and down th’other, as we say in my neck of the woods.
In answer to a criticism I received by email, I have to explain that comment 72 yesterday was JUST a JOKE!
not a criticism!!
It comes from a famous line in an old American movie “On The Waterfront” starring Marlon Brando
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Waterfront
sorry, nothing’s worse than a joke that has to be explained.
To Anat Magen,
You are indeed a bold lady. Keep it up and next time , if anyone dares to attack you or any other woman out here, just squeeze their friggin balls and let them pass out in few seconds.
If a woman wants, no man can ever hurt them physically or abuse them any respect. They simply have to have courage to catch the right spot.Right…on.
amitji
Amitji,
This was a very smart riddle…foxed us completely, but I am sure the clue for your next one will not be found on any photos!
OK one small teaser from me…If Day 690 is 12 March 2010, when do you hit the magic Day 1,000 ?
The Hong Kong Asian Film Awards organizers are still tight-lipped and are not revealing to us, in spite of repeated requests that they intend to bestow the LTA award to you. What is even sadder for the small number of our EF here is that there is apparently no mechanism in place to allow a few of us entry to the awards ceremony to share the proud moment with you ! They have passes for the media, but not for us – your EF ! PLS HELP US !!
As always, nothing but abundant love to you….
PS – 17 Jan 2011 is the day to watch out !!
A real impressive post, Sir. Many Thanks!
Dear Sir,
Good Morning !!!
1. You must make some special show for Shashiji for PAA, since last few blogs i am feeling that you committing self for doing that but the moment you landed in Mumbai some other priorities cathces you. Pl do this as TOP priority.
I am a Malayalee too, brand ambassador of mine! When can I host my riddler??
Dearest AB Sir,
Yes, we all were aghast when we saw Shashi Kapoorji during Filmfare night. The loss of Jeniffer is having a heavy toll. I hope he comes out stronger.
Nice that you still are in touch with colleagues. Most of them have hung their boots and are into policitcs or business. But, life has its own ways. Each individual is different.
There are innumerable number of known figures who intentionally now do not appear in public since they want that their past image be preserved in the minds of all till eternity. Very understable and sensitive topic.
May God bless all.
Regards
Diljit
All right folks, it seems the stalker is back: the one who loves to impersonate me. Amitji, and SUNITA, NJ — I want you to know that comments #73 and 74 supposedly written by Jasmine Jaywant are not written by me. You KNOW I would never lift a stoy you’ve posted and post it under your name, right Sunita? We have talked about this abuser. My dear FmXters: please be aware: if it doesn’t sound like something I would write or do, it is not me but some malicious person who delights in stealing identities. Amitji, I feel so bad people misuse and abuse this sacred space thus. My personal apologies to you on behalf of this abuser.
Sincerely,
Jasmine
Correction: “…post it under my name”, not “…under your name”.
Respected Sir,
Good morning.
How are you? Thanks for sharing all photographs.
Please take car.
Love & Regards
Dear Lion King,
There is not much of a difference between opulence and vugarity whilst both do have a profound effect on the senses. The burj and the venetian at macau are also good examples that can confuse the mind.
Thank you for shedding some light on the HK awards. Glad it is a bit clearer and not as confusing as the yellows and the greens. In between the yellows and the greens sounds a bit Aussie.
Malyalees are everywhere in the Arabian peninsula. A malyalee friend once said that there was a Nair on the high altitudes of Machi Picchu who had set up a teal stall.
Wish you got the iphone 3gs and not the 3g, but an iphone is an iphone and Steve Jobs remains the hallowed one.
It was an overwhelming experience to watch Shashi Kapoor at the Filmfare awards. I am not sure what was more overwhelming, watching Sashi ji or watching and listening to SRK and Saif.
Anat Magen has clarified that men are onlookers and can also be mute spectators. Men tend to react more to the cheerleaders at the IPL.
The B&W photos are priceless…
Congratulations once again…for the LTAW IFF in MUSACT and then from the Hong Kong’s Asian Film Festival which as you say is not only a recognition for you but India and it’s film industry.
My estimates of the ages of the actors who were your colleagues have been proven correct.
Thank you for sharing those rare pictures from the making of Ajooba. Thank you to Zhenya form Siberia for this.
Naresh Bhatt, sorry to hear the sad news of your father’s first cousin passing away. Please accept my condolences. I’m glad that your Mohan kaka is a little better. I hope he recovers completely and enjoys a healthy life for many more years. Thanks for always mentioning my name in your comments. My good wishes for you and your family.
Anat Magen, Amitji recognized your bravery and commended you for it! Must feel so good. Now take his advice and always keep your big husband next to you! So, where is the party tonight (for the honor of being mentioned by Big B himself)?
Love,
Jasmine
Sai Ram Amitji,
Well I am in a similar situation as you were a couple of days ago, when in the midst of your writing, there was a failure of the system and you lost all that you had gone through. And this is very frustrating. This is my 2nd attempt in writing my comments today.
For the last 6 days or so, ever since I got introduced to this Great Blog of yours, I am desperately looking forward to being in front of your Blog, first thing in the morning, after I spend a few minutes with my Lord Almighty.
It is a Great by itself and the Best way to start your Day - with a lot of Learning and Sharing with Intellectuals like you.
Sitting at my desk, with my wife still asleep in the room, I have literally taken a guided tour of Oman, feeling the comfort that you have been put in at the Luxurious Hotel of this beautiful country. It’s a great feeling and your discription of the various issues and places is just beyond my words. One of the things I’m learning and achieving from this is improvimg my vocabulary.
Thank you very much Amitji for all this and more that I’m looking forward too.
This is my 6th Comment posted today and am still anxiously waiting for your reply on the Yellow Lines…..
Till we meet again, all the best and Heartiest Congratulations for the Award that you are going to receive.
Lots of Love and Swami Bless You and Your Family ..
Yogi
Dear BigB,
Thank you for that wonderful picutures.
Congratulations for this yet again Lifetime Achivement Award.
When you meet Shashiji on your return, please convey our love and regards.
Your delicately evocative written portraits of new landscapes and buildings alike are worth much more than any visuals, but having indulged myself again in a ‘concierge virtual tour’ of the Al Bustan Palace Muscat, I find its modern, fresh décor rather more chic than the fulsome opulence at Abu Dhabi, which is of course more traditional.
The dry mountainous backdrops encasing miles of palm tree laden resorts, look exactly like the resort I holidayed at in southern Egypt surprisingly. Despite its supposed poverty comparatively, the hotels there do match up very closely in standard; whilst the natural beauty of the locale has been preserved. It is a pity to commercialise natural beauty for the sake of tourism, I agree. Dearest Mr Bachchan I sincerely hope with all my heart that you will exploit the copious gym and spa facilities at your disposal at the Al Bustan; you truly deserve some recuperative activities in light of the exhaustive travel undertaken and which still awaits you.
Of course, your substantial input to the Film Industry and the nations image as a whole, renders you deserving of fifty years worth of Life Time Achievement awards. In spite of what your adorable humility suggests, it is VERY much a personal recognition and you should be as proud of your achievements as we are of you. May you be blessed with health and creative inspiration abundantly to fulfil all your aspirations.
I have always maintained that you have a robust gene pool. Even those B&W photographs which, Google informs me, would be taken in 1991 show a vast difference between you and Shash ji far beyond 4 years. As I said previously I was also extremely saddened to see his current pallid and frail condition. I realise he has health concerns but his forlorn state of mind has clearly surrendered him to desolation.
Lets pray that your pending meeting with him may ignite the some creative spark in him, or at least raise his spirits temporarily. We all need the impetus of some future hope, a focus and reason to live. If our mind is happy and vibrant the body simply follows in submission. I am pleased at times when you complain of creative frustration, it simply shows a zeal within you to strive for greater pursuits. As long as that zeal burns fiercely no condition, no age can hinder your progression.
Fatigue hinders my condition now so I will bid a blissfully goodnight again, hoping you will rise and shine in your sumptuous surroundings and prepare to dazzle at the Film Festival. Looking forward to reading and seeing your activities unfold as ever. Good luck in advance as the day progresses.
And please gain some much needed serenity and there in lap of luxury..
My love to you in paradise,
Jasmine
xx
PS: My wishes to Zhenya in Siberia, and thanks for the photographs. You had conveyed news of her sad loss recently and I hope she is coping as well as can be expected. Love again Jasmine
This is indeed my day, ABji!!!
The thingamajig where you do the whatchamacallit at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi…I have done whatchamacallit, yes, in the thingamajig, yes, in the same opulent hotel!!! Three years ago, in fact.
Allow me to ‘waffle’ less and explain. We could not afford to stay there but we could afford to go in for tea and sandwiches, yes, a high tea! And that we did!! and it was the most expensive tea but also the most delicious and sensuous. Oh, yes, Malayalees like opulence. And yes, I know what I am talking about here..;)
Glad you are in Muscat. With a brother and his wife who worked as dentist and doctor in the Omani Army for several years, it feels like a part of my family history. News of their children being born there and raised there were the exciting news for a long while. And now you are there, comparing the greenery to Kerala. Exactly like my brother described it to me..saying the closest place Salalah resembles is Kerala, the state that you are happy to speak for.
And I am going to end with what is going to sound fiction and I do not blame you. But when you described opulence two days ago, it was the same Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi that came to my mind. Believe me you must, I just want to slap my wrist for not telling you what I thought. Silly me!!
Congrats on the lifetime award, again and yet again. A ’small’ (!) step for AB but a leap for ‘A(mara) B(harat)!!!! Ta! Thank you! Dhanyawar! Shukriya!!! Merci;)!
Hello Amitabh ji,
I read your blog not so much for its contents , but it is the beautiful english, right and apt choice of words and your imagination of things and putting them in black and white in a lucid manner that makes reading your blog very interesting to me. I used to wonder how the right word come to you so spontaneously and will there be an occasion ever, when i will be able to find more apt word than you in your blogs.
I got an opportunity today in Your blog 690. You wrote
“Many among you were disturbed greatly with the images that you saw of Shashi Kapoor at the Filmfare Awards. Yes it was not the most pleasant sites”
surely you must have meant “sight” in place of “sites”. This is not a criticism but it comes more out of my admiration for your mastery over English and my silly triumph in finding a better word than you. i certainly do not mean to offend you by pointing out this .
With warm regards.
Col Rajaraman
I practically read your every blog and travel withyou to the places you give discription of,and a picturesque beauty begins to unreel before me.A magic filled narration indeed!Rememberances of past are soul soothing and every human being is used to such experiences in life,but your blog has the power to superimpose over one’s such unfoldings.I have every praise for this routine to come before us and join with us- really humble breed.Thanks–Dear Amitabh Jee.
Dear Mr. AB,
Muscat sounds charming. It is not an easy feat to resist the allure of “development” that results in high rises and much reduced greenery. It is heartening to see some places successfully kept out of the rat race; not because they can’t afford it, but because they treasure their beauty more.
Same with our small California coastal town. One beach hotel was built in the 60s, then citizens said: No more! and have kept the resolution until the present, even to the detriment of the city coffers.
The impetus may come from different sources, but the effect is the same.
Thank you so much for the Russian pictures, then and now you look most lovely wearing black or white. Thanks, Zhenya and keep going, please! The opulent hotel photos were nice too; we love to see through your eyes, but somehow they lack the main attraction, if you know what I mean….
Every time you mention one of your movies I haven’t seen yet, in some strange way it percolates its way through all my priorities, until it firmly lands at the top. My first reaction then is to go to amazon or nehaflix to buy it. Today I was stymied, only found sources in the UK. Is there any EF who could help me find this movie in the US?
With love from Renate
My dearest Amithji,
A very good morning to you.
Wow!!!what stunning photos! Thanks a million. It is only fit for a king & you are the king!!
Finally you solved the mystery of the ‘two yellow lines……..’ I was feeling very dumb & a little depressed too as I did not understand anything at all & to top it I am reaching my 50th birthday on mar 16th,just three more days,I am kinda of feeling little old too! What is it about 50th birthday?I am hoping & praying like bad that I will be blessed with your wishes on this landmark birthday.So, 16th march, please remember. It is also “UGADI” festival .This time the festival & my birthdate are the same, just like how it was 50years ago! My mom always said that I was born early morn on the “UGADI”day! So, when she was alive she used to celebrate on the festival day, & me with my friends celebrated on mar 16th.So two celebrations in a month!This time I am really thrilled that both the days are same & I hope you will make it unforgettable & very special to me by blessing me on this day! I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Hope Shathrugan sinhaji, rajesh khanna, jeetendra, shashiji,Dharmendraji, vinod khanna , all these people get angry with you for revealing their age! I think ,except for Shashiji, everybody have maintened themslves very well.
You are the best amongst all these lot! You are the only one who have kept up with times!!!!Look at you blogging!!You are better than the best!!!
CONGRATULATIONS ONCE AGAIN FOR THE LTA AWARD!!
Hoping for some more pictures.
love you to death,
My support & love to you allaawwaayssssaaaa,
kalpana kakade
My dearest Amthji,
A small correction,
Please read it as “I am hoping & praying like mad………” & not as ‘bad!
Sorry for the mistake.
love to you,
kalpana kakade
My dearset Amithji,
One more correction! PLease read it as “I hope all these people will not get mad at you……..” I missed the ‘will not’, so it is giving entirely different meaning. So many mistakes to day! I guess it is because of my 50th birthday tension!ha, ha,..
My love to you,
kalpana kakade
In AWE of those picture of AMITABH BACHCHAN,
By looking at those photograph it appears you were Legend by Birth.
Jeetendra is the only one among all of you who still has young heart, well shaped and handsome. Rajesh Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha has Bellly, Dharam Paa ji is now old and he was handsome till 90’s. Sashi Kapoor, the handsome boy, don’t know how he became so fat, may be the Kapoor effect…Raj,Shammi and now shashi.
many congratulations
When sleep eludes, they say: count sheep…actually quite strenous. Some suggest chant the Gayatri Mantra….very peaceful….but still, sleep eludes….weariness in excess can actually do that on a Friday!!!! So, checked the blog a few times…alas…no updation….slept in bits and am up and about though a wee bit fatigued….but the description of Crimea and the photos of Ajooba have brought in some cheer.
Ah !!! what would I do for a getaway to the beautiful mountains and the gushing river. Pahalgam in Kashmir …..Rohtang in Manali….. Kufri in Simla…. Rumtek in Sikkim …..hmmmm!!!!!! Sea locales are awfully humid and the vast expanse actually scares me, specially on a grey cloudy day, so I avoid seaside, except HongKong, which has been my dear brother’s abode for some time. HongKong is otherwise a tourist’s delight .
Going back to vacation…only a week in summer is what one looks forward to. I do believe, one should take two vacations in a year, but becomes difficult to tie up.
At last the mystery unfolds….so what actually doesn’t appear to be so simple is actually so simple, sans any connotations.
I wouldn’t know where to hide if I were to spend even a few hours in a yellow room ???? sorry, no hurt for the sentiments please… lest you mistake
Read Anat Magen’s response, last night. So brave of her , and So true….chivalry is gone ????
At times the comments don’t go thro!!!!probably online choking, or online blogging ? what is it ??
Today is Saturday..so will spend some time , shopping for the summer and then readying for the Navratras beginning March 16. Don’t do much specifically. Wonder if you do anything special ?
In the meanwhile… you get ready …in your best…for your award…and my good wishes as always., and not to miss the love.
Dear Sir,
I love you for your beautiful descriptions and amazing pics of your visits to my country, the UAE.
I do access your blog from time to time as I enjoy reading your posts and get to learn a lot from you. You make me feel so proud of my land
truly love you for it xxX.
Honestly, thank you millions for providing us, the best promotional coverage we can ever receive in today’s time and that’s for “free of cost!”
I seriously believe that no amount of services you are provided with, can match the level of coverage your blog posts carry in return.
Btw, having said so, please allow me to mention that particular newspaper you wrote off in your previous posts. It must have made remarkable sales in India during that particular week! Not sure! But it may have and still is, due to many fan readers expecting the “Apology” who even may not be a regular reader.
Sir, in the process of highlighting the truth and condemning the editor and the newspaper, you may have unknowingly benefited them! that article was written for a purpose! I might be wrong and I hope I am, because they deserve only, the trash.
I truly admire you and respect your great stand for your family regardless. It really speaks volume about you as a person and inshAllah justice will take place soon.
Enjoy Oman and please don’t miss the delicious “El-Halwa El-Omaniah”- Omani sweets, the best ☺
and Mabrook for all awards this year. You deserve them all
Love and best wishes, J
Sir
I had a horrible dream of being back stabbed by the person who I dearly love.
I was so disturbed…..Thanks for your lovely writting which brought back calmness.
Thanks you for solving the riddle. Thank you also for nice photos and great write-up.
Congratulations from heart for getting the Life Time Achievement Awards. I sincerely believe many more awards are awaiting you. I would like to read your speech at the time of presentations. Kindly do make it possible.
I hope you continue to find time to write in details about your experiences as you have done in this post. There is a definite touch of opulence in your thoughts and words.
Will your contemporaries (Jitendra, Dharmendra, etc.) not be annoyed with you because you have disclosed their ages ! I only hope that you never mention ages of ladies with whom you have worked or are still working !!
Any update on Johny Mastana please……?
Love in abundance. Waiting for another such great post with photos, if possible.
forgot to add, the two pictures of the exterior are rather nice…Islamic architecture…overlooking the distant sea…the crafted dome… the symmetrical, manicured gardens…hmm…lovely…that is opulence…worth it !!! as I percieve it . Bye for now
@23 Satyam..sometimes I swear you are a ‘Bachchan’ the way you write ( thats supposed to be a compliment..you are a genius..I mean it..you have a gift for ‘insight’ and clarification..I probably wouldnt understand if you didnt show the difference..
Hang in there, Phyllis #83
You may have been misunderstood, unfairly attacked and had your math homework marked in red ink - all in one week.
But I hope I speak for more than just myself if I say that I always treasure your comments for their wisdom, warmth and intelligence, not to mention your treasure trove of poems and songs.
So yeah, hang in there…
Love,
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Wow, what a ” thingamajig ” . A literal throne.
Now we know where you have been hiding the past few days :)>
Thanks for solving the riddle of ‘ one green between two yellows ‘ . Lekin , the question remains : why wear 3 watches ?
Great pics from the past with your killer boots and that squirmy baby. And also the one with Shashi K.
Just read that UNESCO has voted Jana Gana Mana the best national anthem in the world . The national anthem now plays at the start of movies in Pune and it felt very good paying homage to our tricolor. I feel the same for the Star Spangled Banner . It was also good to see all in the audience giving this symbol of the country due respect. I do wonder though how prudent is it for patriotism to be rammed down people’s throats ? What would happen if a section of the audience did not give the flag due respect ?
I’m glad it’s Friday . My car died on me on the road today .Thankfully I was able to pull into a side street and call for roadside assistance which came mighty fast. Riding in a tow truck is an entirely fun experience . The roads I traverse daily looked so foreign and exotic I started to think ” yeh kahan aa gaye hum ” …. You do creep into our thoughts thro the day , you know .
Love and best wishes .
Dear Sir,
Always love those unique pics and the stories you share with us. Thank you again and congrats for the award.VEry well deserved.
GOd Bless
Mr. B,
The hotel visuals are beautiful and the bed befitting Mr. Daddy Long legs!!The place looks more like an inside of a palace than a hotel.Lovely black and white photos, loved that slightly long mane of urs in those days,very stylish.Congrats for some more awards that are in store ,now u can have them all kept in ur Delhi house for public viewing, good idea dont u think?
Yesterday’s match was such a thriller, nail biting finish, these T-20 matches esp. the IPL are just too good; recently watched one at the SCG,between W.Indies and Aus. and my word it was entertainment par excellence, at every six that was hit ,the sky would erupt with a glittering array of fireworks , the crowd mexican waving away, the works, its a carnival like atmosphere , three hours of unlimited fun.
So then here, I take ur leave and wishing u a happy stay there , love and regards
Dear Amitji,
As always , love the detailed description of your day , your stay at Muskat , it’s like being there ……….
Love you always ,
Rekha
Hi Amitji!
I am truly disappointed at not being able to guess your locale. The Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi is truly grand. I have googled it and seen its Grandeur earlier too! Congratulatons for receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award yet again!
The Pics of Shashiji and you while shooting for Ajooba in Russia are very good and I agree the best one is the one in which you are holding the cute child!
Shubha
Anat magen, I missed out on reading about your comment yesterday….shall read now and get back to you!
Sir
is all going right..life doesn’t seem to flow smoothly. meaning, does it resemble to the senior amitabh in sooryavansham , currently. stiff, stern and not enjoying the flavor of it? your fight with media resembles to the battle of bhagatsingh with the british empire.. can it not resemble to that of gandhi with the british ? the ease of battle, the pleasure of enjoying it and eventually succeed because you enjoy it.. can you not put the media to a shame just by your smile..
lta awards .. why consent to so many..
it has to be something bigger than lta awards for you to consent in the above nations
you are the fittest person to be in India politics and required by the country there.. of course without Amar singh ji.. please jump.. the current feel of yours is like the amitabh of zanjeer.. not good for your current profession but a terrific fuel for entering and conquering politics..
India looks forward to you.
# Anat Magen….. Congratulations for confronting the man in your store so courageously! The experience must have been scary and you did show some good presence of mind. We do need to be alert all the time! A good lesson for all of us to learn from you!
Dear Amitji,
Muscat seems to have worked wonders on your mood. You seem upbeat and cheerful. So it most definitely must be a wonderful place!
My friend did her initial schooling there and shifted to Dubai later. Despite Dubai’s grandeur and charm, she always missed Muscat. Oman does feel like Kerala - the mountains, the greenery, the pristine blue seas - and of course the number of Malayalis there!:)
Lovely pics. My favorite is the view from the balcony - of the sea and a flock of seagulls flying across - beautiful. Thanks for the pic of Shashiji and you.
Enjoy your stay at Muscat, Amitji. Keep clicking.;)
Love,
Aishwarya.
Amit Bhaji,
# 690. I take my notes:
denouement: Muscat -> Mystery of Two Yellows and A Green
-> Shashi Kapoor and Ajooba -> Opulence and Palace Hotel !
A mix of colour and black and white…
More of external than internal landscape in this post. Not bad
as the English say.
For me, the best reference in the post is to your promised visit
to Shashi Kapoor. Do visit him and convey to him the love of your
extended family. Time is cruel indeed - take its toll on all, sooner
or later.
It must be difficult for you to refuse honours, but I guess you must
occasionally find them boring, isn’t it? I asked you: do you write
poetry?
Love and best
Sarban
Mr. B,
Have to tell u this ,amongst all the Kapoors ,its Shammi kapoor who is my favourite,he had a unique style ,something that was a class on its own.Will be remembered for generations to come.Even now he conducts himself with so much dignity ,truly a hero.
Dear Amitji
Dear Amitji, Good Morning. LTA, Life Time Achievement Award one after the other desrves an applause. We can only hope some LTAs in our life now which are difficult to come. My LTA is leave travel allowance. There is so much to see in this world that a lifetime of earning is not enough to take us everywhere. So is the time constraint. Lucky are those who can see the world in its different fineries. The Russian places you describe also make them worth visiting. Hope some day we can see the Sholay man with his coin.
You have very well put everyone on a scale above with and below you in age. It seems the scale is well balanced with you as the pivotal point. Shashi Kapoor and yourself made one of the best pairs on screen. I would say Kabhi Kabhi and Trishul being outstanding.
Yesterday night I too had a Khan dream. It was Sharoukh Khan who knocked me in the dream sequence. He had some problem and had to go to bazar. I told him sit on my shoulder and I will take you there since you cannot walk. On our return he asked me to come home and see his house. A big compound of 45acres with few trees and prominent among them mango and neem. Rest all looked like a hockey or football or cricket ground not yet ready for use. The house was old and he said Amitji adviced me to buy this old place. It was not yet done up but had old paint. He worked in an office located at the back with two rooms and a verandah. A simple wooden table and two chairs. As we passed through the house I saw lots of fruits being cut and eaten by the inmates. He had many many relatives living with him. Outside it was normal road traffic and hawkers like you see coming out of a museum. My dream ended there but thinking still what does this signify. State of unpreparedness for our sports where we have lots of ground space but no preperation. Facilities which are not looked after. Owners who want to develope and beging from scratch. It was worth pondering.
Have a wonderful experience of yet another LTA. My regards to those who develope oasis because of their green thumb. As I walked in the morning I saw a huge mango tree fallen due to unseasonal rain. Felt bad that such a tree is lost.
My compliments to Anat Magen and Zhenya for different reasons. Courage is what comes handy. As Guru Govind Singhji had remarked; best weapon is that which comes handy when in need. So what Anat Magen used was also a weapon even if it was a plastic bowl.
Good pics.
My dearest Mr. Bachchan,
Oman with its natural landscapes sounds so heavenly and I loved very much your beautiful descriptions of it. And it is such a wonderful aspect that there is a keen interest in preserving the ‘originality’, and uniqueness of the country and in enriching it with more green plants and palms. Actually such a natural surrounding would be more charming and enticing atmosphere than the wondrous and dazzling architectural.
these are so wonderful and stunning images of Ajooba…lovely fantasy movie with lovely songs. And thank you for sharing these sweet stories of you in Russia…lovely one about the man who tried to tell you about Sholay. Yes, it is the first time you mention about it.
But it saddens me to read about the current condition of Mr. Shahsi Kapoor and that depression and frustration has taken over him so intensely and has caused him to lead such a detached and an isolated existence. I wish your visit would be helpful for him.
The photos of the Emirates palace hotel in Abu Dhabi are just amazing. I have just googled for more photos and took a glimpse of the splendor and finery of the place.
Thank you for revealing the mystery and solving the riddles of the yellows and the green. You let me wondering at what might be this place..
But that’s really brilliant to locate your words in such a way instead of your place.
Many congratulations on the awards that you are to receive in Muscat and later in Hong Kong.
and I hope you will be having an enjoyable, beautiful and wonderful time in serene and peaceful Muscat..
goodnight and sweet dreams…
with my love to you…as ever,
Dear Emperor,
As a resident of Muscat for 20+ years, prior to our move to Dubai, I feel happy that you are there now. Oman as I mentioned earlier is the prettiest of all the gulf countries with pristine blue sea, towering mountains, the greenery & most of all the Omani people, which are ever so friendly.
I can see from the post that you are feeling upbeat already upon arriving & seeing Muscat.
My uncle has sent me a copy of his invite for tonights dinner function with you at the Al Bustan Palace & I am equally excited about it.
Did you know that The Al Bustan is actually a palace too as the Sultan of Oman has the top floor of this hotel for as his palace.
I personally have a good relationship with this hotel & palace as a supplier of spa products & toiletries.
Hope you have a refreshing break in Muscat as there are several other must see sites nearby : Qantab Beach, Muscat Palace, The ShangriLa, Muscat Corniche etc.
With best wishes
Dharmesh & Nisha
I loved your comments. Don’t be bogged down by a few, all fingers are not equal. Keep rocking. And as Renate said, hang in there.
# Naresh.. pl accept my condolences on the demise of ur father’s cousin.
Glad that the other uncle is better now!
love your pic, young, handsome dashing
My Dearest Mr. Bachchan,
As I type these words, it is 9PM, Friday night, March 12th, on my side of the world…and I must go to bed now. However, in the Sultanate of Oman, it is
already Saturday morning, March 13th…and hopefully you are having a magnificent breakfast, served to you on a silver platter in the serene quietude of your opulent room. I wish I could have served that breakfast to you…
I would have been honoured to do so. May you have a peaceful morning in the paradise that is Oman, followed by an even more glorious day.
God bless you, Mr. Bachchan. I love you so very much.
Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
What a delightful post ! : )
So happy for you that you spent a couple of days in such magnificent, beautiful surroundings of Abu Dhabi !
Now I know what that mysterious ‘universe’ of opulence looked like and what your eyes saw - the bright blue of the sea, the cozy clean beach, the architectural marvels of which you were writing in the previous posts and all that air and space full of light … The interiors of the Emirates Palace Hotel reminded me once again of the movie “Space Odyssey 2001“ - very beautiful and fantastic place to be : ) I appreciate you sharing with us …
Muscat in Oman , where you are now , sounds nice -“dry picturesque mountains leading into the deep blue crystal clear waters of the sea ”. The fact that most of its greenery is being planted there is much like in San Diego, where natural vegetation is of a desert type and it is made into a green city by human efforts - palms , eucalyptus trees and hundreds of other species from all over the globe.
I love bougainvilleas ! The flowers on them can be of all possible colors. I planted some in our back yard when we lived in SD - red, white and light lilac … Whoever lives there now, I hope they take care of my lovely bougainvilleas…
I am going to google what kind of plant ‘kayna’ is..
*
Well, I did see your three wrist watches a while ago on the pictures in your post, because I always do pay thorough attention to every detail, but to guess that it was ‘the yellows and a green’ from your ‘clue’ to the location - that would never occur to me, even in the wildest dream : ) !
Applause indeed : ) and thank you for disclosing…
*
And Anat Magen is very brave ! I just read her story today and I wish her to take care ..
*
Thank you so much for the black and white pictures from shooting “Ajooba” in Yalta Crimea ( this region belongs to Ukraine now ).
It is my favorite travel destination and I am going there again when I shall visit Russia .
Though I always travel to Simferopol by train ..
It feels so nice to imagine you driving by the same roads clinging along the Black Sea shores …
These photos are so precious and I am so grateful to you for posting them and to Zhenya for sending them ..
They make me feel nostalgic..You look very handsome and nice.. And it is a great picture of you with Shashi…
I know some of “Ajooba” was shot in Yalta Film studio in the mountains where the sets were built .. It looks like it was some cold day there and you and the lucky ( but quite unaware of it !: ) baby are wearing warm scarfs : )
That is a wonderful story about “Sholay” coin and the mime conversation to you from a man. Of course you have not narrated it to us before ! And I am happy to hear some stories from the times when you were there …
Answering your question - the symbolic and legendary Russian bear is coming from many bears that live in Russian forests in the wilds. That mountain rock Ayu-Dag resembling bear drinking water is very famous tourist attraction near the summer camp for children from all around the former Soviet Union..
Thank you for this cheerful and generous entry and for writing about Crimea …
May God bless you and yours.
My love to you.
Welcome to Muscat- Do not know if you will be able to meet your EF members. This country has the most friendly locals- a place no Indian feels likes an Expat unlike the neighbouring countries- the reason being our great ruler has lived and studied in India. Do enjoy your stay.
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
I noticed your three watches, because the first one is yellow and I have a big yellow watches and I wear it on right wrist. Then I saw the others two and I told my daughter you are going to three country with different time . I think when you go to Europe you wear two watches always. You wear these for us to give the precise time when you write the blog? Ha ! Ha ! Always I’m looking to see what watch and what eyeglasses you wear , better be the latest style not
to upset me ! When you mentioned Yalta, Simferopol …remind me of my father who used to tell me about these and Sevastopol, Odessa, Sochi , etc.
from his three years in WWII , he was officer in cavalry -this was not his profession, just on the war time.
If you have time tell us more about time on the set making movie. You have such a talent to describe the situation and location , I’m almost there !!!!
I wish you to have a great time over there !
Love always,
e.t.
Dear Dharmesh
please ask ur uncle to share some pictures with us , he is lucky to be there!!!
Dear Amitji,
Welcome to Muscat!
Hope you have a wondeful stay in Muscat.
Small beautiful land. Yes Oman has a ‘KOCHU KERALA’ in SALALAH. Salalah is green with lots of rains and cocoanut trees.
Shahi Kapoor,Shatrughan Sinha and Vinod Khanna,Jitendra and Dharam ji all must have had a real good time those days, nice to see the old pics.
Did you all have the ‘CAMPS’ in those days like now????????
Anyway, enjoy the stay in Muscat, and come back soon to see more of us.
Bye and take care.
Dear Amitabh Big Star,
Hi……………..its amazing to know you,your taste for life……lifestyle………….king size Persona……Hmmmm…..but no hunger for Power and politics…..why?…..Ok….Built a memorial…..in rememberance…………like Grand TajMahal…….Agra……….Affection and love made Memorable till……………..eternity?…………..Emperor shahjahan and Mumtaj Mahal……………….Legacy lives on with sprit of love……even after death……….Birth…………eternity…………..
Planets can play a part in death and dying. All of them do. You cannot look at just one planet, one aspect or one configuration–it is the culmination of all of them that must be looked at in totality. And even then, if the person decides to utilize this death energy on another plane of expression, they’ll keep on living and breathing and being around for some time to come!!
Saturn
Saturn is often seen as Father Time–when your time’s up–you’re going. Father Time is here for all of us. We are all going to die some day. However, we move through many “mini-deaths” throughout our lives on the spiritual, emotional and mental level, too. And Time does erode our body so that when we’re in our sixties, our body does not function as a twenty-year old’s will, too. Its your choice on how you handle Saturn’s energy.A Saturn death is a lingering death. It doesn’t happen quickly; it happens over time. Sometimes, a long, suffering time. Saturn is one of the planet’s of longevity in one’s life, also. The good side of Saturn, so to speak. A conjunction, sextile or trine between this planet and your Sun can give you a long, long life, although the whole chart must be taken into consideration for this.
Uranus
Uranus is implicated in surgery and accidents. Usually accidents of a “weird” or unusual nature–such as sky diving, bungee jumping, while you’re skiing you run into and hit a tree and kill yourself–or some other loopy, dumb kind of thing that no one would ever think could happen and create an accident. Uranus also rules airplanes and flight.It also rules over lightning and electricity–so many people get a jolt–either by a cord, by a lightning bolt or zapped through some strange, odd way. Surgery is co-ruled with Uranus along with Mars. With Uranus, you can have a “weird” car accident, or unexpected surgery .A Uranus death is always sudden. There is no lingering on with this planet.
Neptune
Drug over doses, recreation drug death, death by flesh eating bacteria, by a nasty virus, or by prescription or over-the-counter drugs fall under Neptune’s massive coverage. Drowning accidents figure prominently here, as well. Water related deaths or near deaths always find Neptune and Admetos active at the time. Of course, there is death by drowning of having too much fluid in your lungs; drowning by suffocation. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, such as asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia and emphysema are Neptune’s rulership as well. Anything having to do with water inside or outside the body is Neptune’s base of operation. It could be a flood that kills someone. Or a flood of liquid, such as blood in the pericardial sac that surrounds the heart and stops the heart from beating. Deaths or near deaths that have Neptune prominently figured will always have a cloak of mystery about them, too. In some cases, no one will ever really know how it happened or what the person died of or from what. People with an active Neptune at the time of their death will usually die in their sleep. Or, they will die of suffocation. A nice trine from one’s Sun to Neptune means a quiet, gentle passing in one’s sleep.
Pluto
Transformation is asked for by this planet. Pluto deaths are usually pretty final and not always pretty. They usually involve massive trauma to the body, or there’s little left to identify or its hard to identify.Deaths with Pluto can be violent; and a good example of this is the heart attack, where it comes out of nowhere, hits with the velocity of a Mac truck, is massive and nothing can be done to save the person, no matter what. The heart can literally, explode. Or, a aorta can ‘blow’ and the person bleeds to death in three to five minutes. Or a massive stroke or hemorrhage will finish them off quickly. There’s something to be said for a ’swift’ death and Pluto helps make that possible.A good sign of longevity is a conjunction, sextile or trine between one’s Pluto and Sun; although the whole chart must be taken into consideration for this.
Mars
Mars acts as a “trigger” for death or a near-death experience. It also rules knives, guns and fires. You will see an active Mars in a lot of violent shootings. Mars is about a violent death of some sort -through some kind of sport-related accident or a car accident. Mars rules mechanical things and machinery and often, people slice off a finger, get their arm ripped off in a combine, or are decapitated or lose a leg in an accident. Mars is one of the co-rulers of surgery, so any accident involving Mars can mean minor or major surgery, too. Since Mars rules anger, temper and the male harmone testosterone, these additions can make or break if there will be an accident or death–or not. Deaths are usually violent and sudden and the person may die instantly (as in a bullet to the head) or linger on for a couple of days, and maybe a week–but no more than that. A Mars death is clean and swift.
Hades
This is one of the Uranian planets and is considered the planet of disintegration.Hades will turn those festering mass of bad feelings and experiences into a disease–a chronic one–to get your attention so that you will handle matters in a more straight-forward fashion. And if you don’t, you will die of a chronic disease, instead. The flip side of Hades is therapy and shamanic healing or ceremonial healing of some sort from antiquity–which can help save your life and get you back on track with yourself. A Hades death is slow, arduous, a cell at a time and can take a decade or more to slowly erode and dissolve the walls/cells/bones of our body until there’s very little left. AIDS is a good example of a Hades disease.
Admetos
This is another Uranian planet. For those who love to suppress/repress their hard feelings, their hard knocks in life, their bitterness, their bad luck, their trauma, , is doing an Admetos response. Admetos has an affinity for the Moon and is often seen as the other symbol for the mother. It is also about our subconscious. In its most lurid form, the monsters and the Shadow within ourselves is mirrored by this planet.Very often, with a strong Admetos natally in one’s chart, this can mean that a “photograph” of a trauma occurred very early in life–especially in utero–while being carried by Mom–and it stains the person’s entire life-force.This planet rules strangulation of the person. The person suffocates in some way. It could be due to an overdose of prescription, over-the-counter or other drugs, inhaling poisonous gas of some kind ,being poisoned by drinking water , or inhaling poisonous air that accumulates and you get sick and die from it.Admetos is about the hidden, poisonous things in our everyday environment that can potentially kill us. Admetos means death by slow, gradual onset and poisoning. An Admetos death can take years, if not a decade. And the person suffers enormously over time, if the source of the poisoning to them is not identified. A person slowly being poisoned by arsenic being put in their food daily, is a good example of this–a lot of liver pain, a lot of suffering, but its slow and unmerciful.
North and South Nodes
The Moon’s Nodes are intimately concerned with the forging of connections and the dissolving of connections. These connections are with other people, places, associations, groups, your company/corporation and possibly, the country you live in.We are constantly cutting ties and making new ones. The North Node is about creating new ties. That can be seen as dying and going to a more ethereal place of existence.
The South Node is about creating old connections with old, familiar places, people or things.They will be active in a marriage, in a divorce, in a birth, in a death, in the creation of a company, or the dissolvement of a corporation or country.
Chiron
Chiron is the gatekeeper. He is often active when a person takes on a disease in order to move and learn deeper, more enriching enlightenment about one’s self or others. Around age 50, many people will take on a disease. This is not to say they are bad people.There are hidden blessings in disease and I’ve seen Chiron act like a ‘fast track’ to spiritual evolution for a person when this happens.A Chiron death can be quick and merciful or drag on forever; and much depends upon aspect to it from other planets.
Venus
When someone is in the process of dying, Venus or Jupiter would be always around. They are both “guardian angels” of a type; although Jupiter’s other side can be heavily involved in a death. Venus promises no suffering, or a very short period of suffering. There is grace with this planet when it comes to dying. It says that the dying will be “easy” or painless or less of something other than it could have been. Venus is sometimes seen in deaths where the person dies in their sleep. Venus around is good because the person sees his journey into death as something beautiful, creative and an opening, not an ending or a closing or a loss.
Jupiter
jupiter is involved in aggressive cancers where there is cellular regeneration at optimum, and tumors are present, or an aggressive lymphoma. Ailments involving the liver can also come from this planet, as well. Tumors are Jupiter’s “thing.” It is also, by co-rulership of the liver, tied into the lymphatic system as well which is why, in many forms of cancer and dying of cancer, the Jupiter is active by transit or progression. On the other hand, Jupiter is also the “guardian angel” provided it is in good, soft aspect at the time. If it is, it means a gentle, non-struggling death. Transit is easy and comes all at once, although the person may linger for days, weeks, or even months. With a good Jupiter aspect around at the time, the person does not suffer as much. They will also have a wonderful, optimistic, open attitude about their passing into the next world.
Poseidon
This Uranian planet is very often involved in a death aspect.Having Poseidon around when you die, is the perfect close to one door and the opening of another.Poseidon was the God of the Ocean. Consider it a higher spiritual octave of Neptune.People who have Poseidon active at the time they die have seen their personal Truth. By dying, they receive illumination during the death transit. Poseidon can be seen active in slow, gradual deaths. And it is only when the end has finally come, that this planet makes its final station, that the person gets some kind of incredible, soul breakthrough.
Sun
Sun can be intimately tied into our death time.The two big “triggers” in progressed charts is your Mars and Sun. Many times, in many deaths, the Sun is not prominent. With the Sun involved, it usually means the person has truly fulfilled all there soul desires this time around and it is a natural time to move on.A Sun death can be slow or quick. Usually, there is some beautiful gift of awareness, a deeper soul connection made with the self before passing–a gift is given because these people have earned such grace by working hard, being responsible and shouldering the loads they came in to carry and learn from or give back to humanity in the balance of their unique karma……………God gave us two ears to hear, two eyes to see and two hands to hold. But why did God give us only one heart? Because he wants us to find the other one.
Is the word “love” important?
I don’t know but for me, you are more important.
Do you know why?
Because how can I say “I love you” if you’re not here.
One time I asked you, “why do you love him so much?” you told me, “because we’ve been together for so long”, I got annoyed because you’re numb, you didn’t even think that the time you were together, it took me longer to have waited for you.
No matter how many times I get hurt because of you, I won’t leave you. Because even if I have a hundred reasons to leave you, I’ll look for that one reason to fight for you.
An angel asked me “why are you sad?”, thinking of you I answered “because I miss her”, then I heard the angel giggle…I looked up and began to smile and said “oh, it’s you!”
They said that if you are unable to sleep, it’s because there’s someone thinking about you…surely that person misses you. That’s why if you can’t sleep, sorry, I can’t help it.
St. Peter scold me saying “son, where have you been?” And he saw me with you and asked “why are you with that person?” and I said to him “sorry St. Peter, I though it was heaven.”
Back then I thought I was the unluckiest person in the world, then I looked at you and smiled. Why? Because no matter how unlucky I was, it was worth it because of you.
They said love is like a toy. When it’s new, it’s so loved and don’t want to lend it to others, doesn’t want anybody touching it and don’t want to let go of it. Yes, it’s being taken care of, but the down side is, it’s being played so many times.
When the time comes for you to leave me, just say so! I can let you go. But let me embrace you while saying, ” You’ll go back to me, okay! When he leaves you.”
In love, the past is not important, but the present. Experience is more relevant than the pain you went through. The only thing that will make it stronger is forgiveness and not the retorting of sin.
God is so good. He knows where a person will be happy, where they can love and be loved, where heaven on earth is. Now I know why he put me near you.
Any guy can love a thousand girls…but only a rare guy can love one girl in a thousand ways
In every girls life there will always be those three guys…the one she loves, the one she hates, and the one she cant get enough of…and in the end…they’re all the same guy.
Find that guy that will pick up every piece of your shattered heart & put it back together; Replacing it with a piece of his.
I love you not because I need you, I need you because I love you
If you asked me how many times you have crossed my mind, I would say once, because you never really left…
They say love hides in every corner, then I must be walking in circles
Others will say, loving someone is tiring: sometimes happy, sometimes you’ll cry!
They said I’d have enough someday.
I said to them, that is not true, you know why? “when does ever a person had enough if his love is true..”
I wish I had never known you. I was happy before even when you were not there yet. Unlike now, you make me suffer, I know that you didn’t mean to have known me. Me too, I wasn’t planning on loving you.
No matter what words were used or what meaning about love was delivered, love quotes were said and written out of inspiration and to emphasize each person’s purpose for living…and that is to give love.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Love you …………..wise mans son……..Birbal.
Resending this post, just incase you missed it.
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Meeting you today was like a dream come true for me. You have been my idol ever since I can remember. Thank you for spending a few minutes with us and posing with us for so many pictures. You were looking a little tired, may be due to the jet lag. Please take care of your health and keep entertaining us with your films till eternity. Lots of Love, Deepak Nair, Muscat deepak_nair@yahoo.com
I owe a big apology - a sincere heartfelt apology - to my hero - Mr.Amitabh Bachchan.
I wrote a comment about a photo in which their middle finger was raised- and the comment was about their recent filmfare boycott.
I came to know that it was a photo taken after elections- I am so sorry Sir.
Respected Amitji.
Namaste.
We feel complete with your post.. Location is a Bonus..Hearts of the millions of your devotees is Your permanent abode..
Our prayers for your health, happiness and success.. Wishing you many more awards..
Day 112
My Hero Mr Natwarlal,
1) No major celebrity has every done concerts in India like they do overseas. I know there is commerce involved in those shows, however, this is much more than commerce and My Hero you know it very well.
It is about time to show your true gratitude towards your true fans. And like everything else you can spearhead this one too.
2) I am glad you are reading ‘The Proudest Day’, please read the full book. Regarding the comment you made couple of days ago, “I wish at times to have been born earlier. To have been matured in the time of our struggle, to have had the honour and the pride in being a part of this fight. “, with all due respect my Hero, every generation have their opportunities to make contribution to their country.
By doing what we are doing today, we are, in theory, making history for the future generations. There were those during the freedom struggle who didn’t do anything, sighting various reasons and there were those who fought against all odds. Individuals from each generation will always have their reasons to justify their inaction.
Today, my Hero, you have an enormous opportunity in your hand to contribute towards the ‘”history” of our great nation. You have so much information in your head and more importantly, accesses to information, regarding what ‘wrongs’ are done in the upper tier of our society.
If you make up your mind and decide to turn the tide against the people who have abused their power and authority, which unfortunately have become a way of life for most of us, and which can be detrimental to you and your family, however, I am sure your soul will find the peace which you have never experienced. Remember what Mahatma Gandhi did in his days was against the law and he had to make more personal sacrifices than anyone else.
I wish and pray that god gives you the courage and strength to fight against the evil of our society. And I assure you the day you take the first step towards this, me and the millions like me will follow you until all evils from our society are destroyed. Lets make our country what it truly deserves to be, lets make a country where all are children can breath a fresh air of freedom, justice, dignity, transparency, parity, love, harmony and most importantly of being a proud Indian.
Jai Hind,
Sachin
Hi Mr. Bachchan
Thanks for unveiling the mystery behind the address of your location, it was fun !
I remember the three watches on ur hand but couldn’t relate it, on the contrary since u had specified that u shall be in Muscat I thought perhaps this is how their flag looks, so I Googled & found that there is no yellow just white, red & green !! That got me puzzled so I thought may be you are in transit………..
Pls keep on giving us more of such puzzles, m sure reading others’ comments on this should have been fun for you.
Thanks for sharing such fabulous pictures. The Ajooba pictures are lovely & somehow I always cherish seeing photographs of “behind the scenes”.
The ordinary suite in Abu Dhabi is palatial & outside view is breathtaking. Also, I like the new feature on the blog where if one clicks on any pic that u share, there is an option of leaving a reply. That’s cool !
Hope U will be back in India soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon !!
Take care
Love & regards
Good morning, dearest Amitabhji.
To a post in Day 689.
Today has absolutely unexpectedly and accidentally found out on yours blog in a post of Day 250 the answer to my question about the writing of the book (or memoirs) which I asked to you yesterday. I have been amazed by such improbable coincidence, concurrence of circumstances! That at the end of December 2008 year you already answered on a similar question! Why yesterday I have wanted to open and read just that a day in December ? What me suggested on it?… I did not think that exactly in it will be the answer to my question. And so fantastic quickly. Miracles and only … I Hope, that you have not taken offence with me and are not angry for my that question, Amitji….
… That our dreams can mean? They can mean our alarm, anxiety in any occasion. Can mean our deeply latent or direct desires… At times happens so, that dreams can arise is absolutely inexplicable. Certainly, there are also prophetical, prophetic dreams….
… Ooh!, Amitji! Thank you for such detailed memories from your childhood, unknown to us! But I and did not know, that you were engaged in boxing at school In Boys’ High School in Allahabad and then in Sherwood College, Nainital! But I not only am surprised, but also I am proud of you!… Yes, the boxing – « too brutal… Terrific sport ». I do not represent in general, how it is possible to cripple itself so ruthlessly! Yes, it is excitement, yes, it is adrenaline, yes, it is use « own guile, strength and the will ». I understand this all. But … it not « melancholic and mushy and the disgust » … Simply I pity people. May be, someone and is pleasant this kind of sports. Let. It, as they say, affair of everyone. I respect a choice of everyone person. But I am better in this case with pleasure I shall watched football or tennis, either biathlon, or jumps from a springboard… Exception makes only famous film «Rocky» about a life of the boxer (all 6 parts) which I with pleasure reconsidered many times in the childhood, and also in adolescence and the youth … But I watched most likely because of game of the protagonist and idea of film …
« Who then can imagine what be in store for us in the future. » Yes, Amitji, nobody precisely does not know, what waits for us in the future, what will occur. We can only conjecture….
You have told: « An International media conference meet stipulated the web as having a limitless future. » I agree… But, oh, the Internet presently became hardly whether hardly not DEPENDENCE (not at everything, of course), an integral part of a life of separately taken person.
« … Its allergic … the desire to write. You wish to just carry on relentlessly, incessantly, compulsively. Odd … is it not?? When would we ever get the time to say our ‘ nights’ and ’ sleep wells’.. » How it is familiar to me! Each time I force myself to cease to write… Difficultly to stop and finish, when still it would be desirable to tell so much…
All the kindest, Amitji, and my the best wishes for you, dear Paa…Take care…
With my sincere, deep, warmth feelings to you.
Dearest AB,
You are at present in my city and to my bad luck I cannot see you or meet you.
All the best for the event this evening.
To the others you are an actor par excellence, to me you are an ideal, a great human being and in a way God in flesh and blood.
Raj
Wow..Congrats Sir…For the AWARD!!
@Ajooba - Totally trilled to read the stuff about it and see the pics.
I know the movie was flop, but god knows why i still love this movie so much,
whenever it comes on SETMAX or i see the DVD in my collection i keep watching few scenes…
Kaash yeh film hit hoti and Sashi Kapoor wouldnt had to go through the trauma he went after the Debacle of it.:(
Though for me your both jodi even worked in the last acted - AKAYLA…where though Sashi Kapoor had gained loads of weight, but still the scenes between him and you were one of best of the film.
Dear Mr. Bachchan
Apologies….Arthur Conan Doyle, I have no idea where the canon came from….lol. Your description of the child’s expression is classic and no, you never told us about the man trying to communicate to you about Sholay. BTW…as Fatima asked why do you wear three watches? If you do that to keep track of time zones, your iPhone should come in handy…you can set as many countries as you want in case you have not figured it out yet. You are welcome…as I said before I am good at giving unsolicited advice. I hope you are able to sleep in that room….lol
Hello Darling………. Good Morning………….
What a lovely post……… yesterday’s post was so beautiful I have no word for appreciation. while I was reading today’s post, it seemd that U were talking to us, we were sitting in front of U.
Really I could nt got that…… between 2 yellows & a green. It’s interesting U r testing our memory skill…………ha ha
Yesterday was KKR night. amazingly they came back and washed away DC. when KKr lost their 3 vital wickets at the beginning……… I was feeling doen and went to attend a marriage ceremony. I was surprised to know that KKR is going to win. returned home late and 1 hr. spend watching the news and highlights. Excitement was coming out from the expression of the most cheerful lady Juhi Chawla. She was very happy after the win…….. I cross my finger for tomorrow and planning not to watch the match (with the hope that KKR will win).
Hope Abhaya dada (Sharma) is thinking about me…………. :)))))
Thank U Zhenya for lovely pics and keeping them securely……… thanks to U too for sending the pics of the hotels. it looks like a palace. Perfection is reflecting from every inches. Beautiful architecture. Why U have not send Ur pic also. Everything is incomplete without U. Please do send us pics like this whenever possible.
I was not aware that Shashi Kapoorji is just 4 yrs older than U.
And no U have not mentioned about the incident of coin tossing while shooting for Ajooba. Indian cinema is so much popular in Russia…….. that’s why so any Russian friends r here. Yes they told me how much they admire our Indian culture.
Have a nice day………… enjoy Ur time……….
love and pranam
Congratulations sir!! The pics are awesome. Also the story of the Russian, flicking a coin to tell you about Sholay is cute…
It was refreshing to see your pics of the making of Ajooba…I wish Shashiji the best!!
Hi Sir,
Once again the post has transported the reader to your surroundings and created in the mind an imagination of the marvelous setting you have described. Between the two yellows and a green was a very clever yet tough riddle to have solved. And then to know the reason behind it comes back to the FmXt is very kind of you. To see the great Shashi Kapoor ji at FilmFare and first to hear of him through your earlier posts has not been pleasant. It would most definitely be the wish to see him in good health. Your pictures with him and yourself on the sets of ‘Ajooba’ are a time travel and therefore a treat. The pictures of the hotel leave amazement in terms of the hotel’s architectural structure and layout. Hope it was a pleasant stay, as it looks like the hotel covered all boundaries for a restful stay. Congratulations on the lifetime achievement awards. It is a time of pride and reflection on your dedicated hard work towards Indian cinema.
Regards and Love,
S
Dear sir,
I am a 19 year old who has resided in Muscat all my life. But, as of now, I’m studying in Pune at FLAME since the last 2 years. If you remember, you had come to FLAME for Teen Patti and I remember the 17th of December, my birthday when you were out shooting a night sequence and I came and fed you cake! That was the most legendary moment ever and my parents are going to visit MIFF but I wouldn’t be able to make it because of FLAME and my classes. I am annoyed!
Dear Sir..
Good Morning Sir,
Oh, you were in Abu Dhabi yesterday….wow, We had my son’s fashion show on the 12th March only in Abu Dhabi which we had to cancel because he got hurt under his eye, othewise we would have been there for whole day and night….Emirates Palace Hotel is a part of Kempinski Hotel Group, it is very beautifull….Govinda and Ritesh’s movie last year, not remembering the name was also shot in the same hotel…
Yes Muscat is not having high rise buildings but it’s peaceful and nice….it’s a 5 hours drive from Dubai….but once you start living in Dubai, you can’t like any other place. Dubai is the best in all the 7 Emirates…..Ruler of Dubai was in India (Delhi) yesterday to meet and discuss with Mr. Manmohan Singh…..
Congratulation for the LTAA in Muscat and yet another to get in China….You are the best Sir….when are you coming to Dubai, really want to meet you sometime in life…..
ll right that you did mention where you write from.. to me it does not matter so much as long as you write.. and the added pictures from Ajooba in black and white.. somehow I like them more than the colored.. no,no, I am not color blind.. it is just a matter of preference..
Yesterday I did watch the game between India and Argentina.. at the point when India scored the equaliser through penalty stroke.. I had just swapped to Set Max.. to catch the glimpses of the IPL 3 inaugaration.. and in less than three minutes when I returned to the Hockey I was surprised to see the score reading 4-1.. I thought it was some old score of Argentina game.. yet later I was shocked to see that it indeed was the curent score and the match was being shown live and I was not watching the highlights.. I felt sad.. how could they allow three goals in such a short time.. it is all right.. They had played a good game of Hockey throughout the tournament.. and I am happy for myself having watched live Hockey after several several years.. even if t was on Television.. I have no complaints from anyone in the team.. They could have done better.. but what they did achieve was not too bad.. I think from here on we can do our bit to support the sport.. sport that is not only our national game but the sport which had the great magician who played the game like none other in the world could execute..Major Dhyanchand.. of whom it was said he could score goals even with a bamboo stick instead of the hockey stick.. the tradition of playing exempary Hockey may not return to India as the game has undergone sea changes in its format and frames of the new rules and the turf.. yet does it always mean winning in sports is essential and not the spirit with which the event is played.. if it were so.. India had been much below the cricket playing nations in the seventies.. yet I am sure lot of us supported.. Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Vishwanath, Dilip Sardesai and somemay like to add the names of Vijay merchant and Vijay Hazare that you used in Namak Halaal.. Vinu Mnakad, Lala Amarnath, Farookh Engineer and that almost unplayable trio of our spinners.. the troika that came to be known as Bedi-Prasanna-Chandra.. there could be many more names that I could add from my own likables.. the inimitable Salim Durrani, Eknath Solkar and even Abid Ali for that matter.. OK we are not here to have a lesson in the history of Indian cricket.. let us leave it and proceed to the present tense.. the IPL 3 had its first upset.. no, I did not expect that KKR could win though I had told Amrit (supporter of DC) that if Knight Riders could get to 160 that they could win.. I had closed the TVwhen they required some 100 odd runs from some 96 balls with all their wickets intact.. I had believed that DCwould eventually go on to win the game.. yet the game of cricket in its all too famous uncertainties showed up a different result.. the team people would have believed to loose miserably went on to score a win even if not handsomely yet quite comfortably.. 11 runs is quite a good margin even in one day fomat.. this was T20..
I hope to update some of the pages at Angelfire site about IPL 3.. no,no, I am not going to maintain the database like thetwo previous seasons.. that is little too much of a time consuming act especially whenh there are sites that provide the data more professionally..
Brother.. Love to you
PS Amrit did his science paer quite well.. that elaves just ne last paper on the monday.. the mathematics.. he had a complete off yesterday as he has two days for preparing for his last exam.. I hope he clears the ground and is promoted to seventh.. The fear is reduced to just one subject.. Computer science.. if he is able to pull through in that he should not have much problems in other subjects even if he does not have outstanding marks in the rest.. I sincerely pray to Lord Siddhi Vinayak to help him in such tough times.. I shall take care of his studies in the seventh all by myself..
Dear Amitabh,
I’m a huge admirer of yours and a huge music fanatic. I am currently 19 years old and a huge fan of Hindi music. I have been waiting since I was 6 years old to hear the songs from Gayak (1996) that Big B cassetes had the rights to.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMaYpHrgZ9o a youtube petition
Please Big B, it is my dream to hear these songs in full and I have been praying/hoping for over 13 years for these songs and with no such luck or info!
Please Please listen to my plea and somehow get these songs to my heart just like your movies have filled a huge void in my life with gems like KKKG and Black. Itunes, youtube, online radio, tapes whichever format but please I can’t stand the wait. =[
my email is ishqvishk@gmail.com
Please don’t ignore this! =[=[
Your one of the most powerful figures in bollywood, only you can make it happen . PLEASE please please
Respected Brother
Sadar Charan Sparsh
It is all right that you did mention where you write from.. to me it does not matter so much as long as you write.. and the added pictures from Ajooba in black and white.. somehow I like them more than the colored.. No, no, I am not color blind.. it is just a matter of preference..
Yesterday I did watch the game between India and Argentina.. at the point when India scored the equalizer through penalty stroke.. I had just swapped to Set Max.. to catch the glimpses of the IPL 3 inauguration.. and in less than three minutes when I returned to the Hockey I was surprised to see the score reading 4-1.. I thought it was some old score of Argentina game.. yet later I was shocked to see that it indeed was the current score and the match was being shown live and I was not watching the highlights.. I felt sad.. how could they allow three goals in such a short time.. it is all right.. They had played a good game of Hockey throughout the tournament.. and I am happy for myself having watched live Hockey after several several years.. even if t was on Television.. I have no complaints from anyone in the team.. They could have done better.. but what they did achieve was not too bad.. I think from here on we can do our bit to support the sport.. sport that is not only our national game but the sport which had the great magician who played the game like none other in the world could execute.. Major Dhyanchand.. of whom it was said he could score goals even with a bamboo stick instead of the hockey stick.. the tradition of playing exemplary Hockey may not return to India as the game has undergone sea changes in its format and frames of the new rules and the turf.. yet does it always mean winning in sports is essential and not the spirit with which the event is played.. if it were so.. India had been much below the cricket playing nations in the seventies.. yet I am sure lot of us supported.. Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Vishwanath, Dilip Sardesai and somemay like to add the names of Vijay merchant and Vijay Hazare that you used in Namak Halaal.. Vinu Mnakad, Lala Amarnath, Farookh Engineer and that almost unplayable trio of our spinners.. the troika that came to be known as Bedi-Prasanna-Chandra.. there could be many more names that I could add from my own list of likable cricketers.. the inimitable Salim Durrani, that outstanding fielder Eknath Solkar and even the All-rounder Abid Ali for that matter.. OK we are not here to have a lesson in the history of Indian cricket.. let us leave it and proceed to the present tense.. the IPL 3 had its first upset.. no, I did not expect that KKR could win though I had told Amrit (supporter of DC) that if Knight Riders could get to 160 that they could win.. I had closed the TV when they required some 100 odd runs from some 96 balls with all their wickets intact.. I had believed that DC would eventually go on to win the game.. yet the game of cricket in its all too famous uncertainties showed up a different result.. the team people would have believed to loose miserably went on to score a win even if not handsomely yet quite comfortably.. 11 runs is quite a good margin even in one day format.. this was T20..
I hope to update some of the pages at Angelfire site about IPL 3.. no, no, I am not going to maintain the database like the two previous seasons.. that is little too much of a time consuming act especially when there are sites that provide the data more professionally..
Brother.. Love to you
Hello Sir;
Came across an intersting quote :
Courage is not lack of fear, it is being scared and doing it anyway….
Nice gesture about two yellows an a green….. but why would you wear three heavy watches? Can we know?
I should confess in all of you Jitendra ji looks so young… even Dharam ji looks quite dashing still. And you, you still a bachloer..
Have a great stay
Sameer
Salam Alaikum Amitji,
Naughty…
The Russian pictures are really nice. Pls post more such historical images rather than these interiors of hotels. I think it’s a waste of your efforts. But the outdoor pictures of places you visit are cool and worth it.
Shukran jazeelan.
I’m back to my apartment, all of which can fit into the euphemism you posted. Soon I will be lying on my pillow from which I see a leaky ceiling and not that beautiful chandelier.
I have returned from Jersey City where I volunteered for the Doo-Wop show there. I was an usher in charge of keeping the general admission riff raff from joining the preferred seating elites.The Duprees performed and until tonight I never knew that the old song ‘My Own true Love’ was actually taken from the tune of ‘Tara’s Theme’ from Gone With the Wind. And that tempts me to see it again on a big screen this weekend at the Film Forum.
I’m looking forward to seeing some photos of you receiving the LTA. I should say good night. Tomorrow I take the Census 2010 test to try to get temporary work and my brain cells are very rusty.
Love,
Rochelle
Nice post enjoi Oman as I believe the weather shall be great now
155@ Satyam ..you’re very welcome…but its true
like a secret decoder ring
Namaste sir…
Firstly,CONGRATULATIONS for the award.
The mystery of the two yellow and one green colour is simply amazing.Mind blowing thought.
Reply.Take care…
Sir,
Maybe it is time for you to come together with Dharamji,vinod khanna,shatru and rishi kapoor in a movie.It could be something like old ashok kumar flick shaukeen.
Long back I had a dream about you and shashiji singing a song.The look of both of you were from late 70’s and early 80’s.I wondred how did i see this dream and tried to analyze it as it was not from a movie.Later I realised that I had watched your old movie DO aur DO Paanch few days before my dream and that would have been there in my sub conscious mind.
hahahah..wow. you got me with those two yellows and a green!!! i actually have to confess that i hadn’t looked at that artwork and you made me go back to it. i am glad i did. now the obvious ques. - why these watches? : ) i am sure there’s a story to it and i;ll probably have to go over the previous blogs for for the answer? This reminds me of the writer of an international bestseller. (His name begins with G and the Book begins with S.) At a book reading, he was quizzed about the reason and then he revealed the second watch actually stores the electronic data format of his manuscript for safekeeping! There, now i’ve given away his secret on the blog, but then, he made it public too.
aah..of course i’ve kept the names a mystery. :p
Dear Tumpa bon..
I wasn’t exactly thinking of you when I told Amrit that if KKR makes 160 that they may actually go on to win a game despite the fact that I feel a team bating second has more chances of winning the T20 especially if the target has been reduced to less than 160 or thereabouts..
I am happy for Kolkta.. I a happy for you.. I am happy for waching the games.. I shall love to see the game between Rajasthan and Mumbai Indians and more so between Kings XI and Delhi.. for Sachin and Sehwag.. I have a feeling that one of thes two would lead their side to victory in this IPL 3.. yet it is a long long way to go with only the first game over yesterday.. Give my love to Shaunak.. I hope he is enjoying his vacations..
“Many may perhaps wonder why there was this ambiguity on non disclosure of my destination”
I wondered too…
But I was wondering about security aspects?
I would like to add my voice to those who have asked you, that if it is possible and if it seems to you the right thing to do, to please share my (our) love and best wishes from all around the world with Shashiji the next time you communicate.
Thank you for considering…
Dear Sir,
Two yellows and a green !
And the way you had all of us in questioning!!!!!!!!
That was a brilliant one Sir!
Keep throwing such trivial surprises!!!!
Many congratulations on winning all these innumerable awards the world over! But however much you deny this, these awards are for YOU - and not for Indian Film Industry per say!
You are being very magnanimous by giving credit to the industry as a whole, whereas all of us know that this has all been possible because of contributions of one single man - the one-man-industry - the shehanshah - the superstar of superstars - the Amitabh Bachchan!
Well, we also know that you’ll never accept this fact and will always be humble in your own way! And thats yet another quality in you which all other stars lack!
Anyways, came across a beautiful ‘answer’. Can’t guarantee its authenticity, but its a beautiful quote even without the name associated with it. You certainly will love it. So, here it is for you:
Fantastic Answer by Dr Kalam to a question asked at the BBC:
Q:- Define BIRTHDAY
A:- The only day in your life when you cried and your Mother was smiling…
With love & regards,
Hi Dude
Congruts for the awards…and beautiful picture shots.
Yeah you are skipper of your family and how well you have stirred it!!!
Read this..INDIAN BABU
I was watching a video on The Times of India…and it said once Indian actress get married they have nothing much in news.It was presented by an Indian female presenter who so much western dressed.Pliz someone tell her she needs to modernize her mentality towards social concepts as well and even giving out critics she has to learnt to be constructive linguist.
I am glad that you are a mentor to show that an Indian babu, esp your babu Ash, has space to achieve her goals yet being completing her multiple roles.
In Hollywood married actress are so much supported by media, families and audience to achieve their heights and I am glad that some very matured Indian men are working towards.
Happy travelling
Cheers
Dear Amit Ji,
GOOD MORNING DEAR AMITABH
ALL THESE PHOTOS BLACK AND WTHITE HAVE “HANTE” MY NIGHT
BUT TO DAY YOU SEND ME SUN TO FEEL BETTER
ENJOY YOUR TIME
LOVE YOU FOR EVER AND MORE
Dear Amitji,
Felt so stupid when your decode showed how obvious the clues were and here i was taking you to Togo and middle east and throwing you in the middle of international tourists
For a change there is a place which can start equating itself in the area of granduer, stature and ambience to one of its recent occupants
The website of the hotel truly amazes even more.
In all these LTAs one wonders what will they call the award when they have to give it again to the same recepient another 20 years from now
LTA - II, 2nd LTA ?
Like the tingle of the flicked coin in the climax of sholay, there are enough scenes etched in the memories of a whole generation which brings you so near to us though far, your monologue with god at the temple, your refusal to take thrown money, your punch lines before the literal ones that you planted on the villians are all golden cornerstones of the industry which would be the trend for the public and many other makers to copy till that concept was fully flogged to death.
Your snaps with Shashiji and others locked us in a time warp of golden creations. one wishes you get the time to really implement the ‘catching up’ that you intend with Shashiji and if you do, please have someone edit, pick and compile the nice things FMXters had to say about him which I am sure will please him
End Line - 5 NICE LITTLE STORIES
1. Once, all villagers decided to pray for rain, on the day of prayer all the People gathered but only one boy came with an umbrella…
THAT’S FAITH
2. When you throw a baby in the air, she laughs because she knows you will
catch her…
THAT’S TRUST
3. Every night we go to bed, without any assurance of being alive the next Morning but still we set the alarms in our watch to wake up…
THAT’S HOPE
4. We plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future or having any certainty of uncertainties…
THAT’S CONFIDENCE
5. We see the world suffering. We know there is every possibility of same or similar things happening to us. But still we get married???
THAT’S OVER CONFIDENCE!!!
Yours as always
Ramanathan
Dear Sir,
Finally the mystery of two yellow and the green is solved - I had been racking my brain over it.
Dear Amitabhji,
You ae so fortunate that you get recognition from all over the world and still acting in films when your contemporaries are just living in oblivion. Your descriptions about Shashi, Dharmendra, Sinha and Rajesh khanna etc are the most revelaing ones and reflect your sincere sharing of your feelings of love and respect for those friends. Yes, I saw Shashi in the Filmfare award function, he looked more than eighty years old and been reticent but his eyes spoke about all his feelings inside. Appreciate, you would meet him on you return to Mumbai soon.
Wishing the award function in Muscat all success~!! It seems your stay in Muscat would be royal in every sense and the country’s commitment to make it Greener is much worthier than just building up concrete structures everywhere at high rise. A very good thought other countries should follow forthwith and make the world GREENER , Happier and healthier for all !!
Tomorrow,14th is my B’day.
Dear Boss,
Om sai ram, Elders in the family always say and also it is a common practise among us that one should not disclose what you’ve asked the god (His Almighty) Mannat when you visit holy places.
But I shall disclose here on your …no..no our blog what I will pray for when I visit the Holy Shrine/Holy Temple/Holy Place whatever one may think of this place - Shirdi.
Hi, I am Shalini Pandey, Military Analyst, and STRATEGIC AFFAIRS (a monthly military affairs publication having presence in 14 Asian countries)
The recent verdict by Delhi High Court to grant permanent commission to women officer of the Indian Armed Forces is commendable.
As a responsible citizen of India, I would like to have your views on the following so that it can help me to formulate my story:
How do you see the Delhi HC decision of PC to women officers of the Indian Armed Forces?
Do you think that Indian Armed Forces should move one step forward by allowing women officers in a combat role as many other countries all over the world is already practicing this trend .
Can you mail me your reply on frnzrana@gmail.com
Best regards
Sirjee,
Our country has been blessed with numerous personalities, like you, who have achieved glory despite various odds.
One such personality is our “Little Master” Sachin. I recently came across this Quote in Time Magazine…
When Sachin Tendulkar travelled to Pakistan to face one of the finest bowling attacks ever assembled in cricket….
Michael Schumacher was yet to race a F1 car,
Lance Armstrong had never been to the Tour de France,
Diego Maradona was still the captain of a world champion Argentina team,
Pete Sampras had never won a Grand Slam.
When Tendulkar embarked on a glorious career taming Imran and company,
Roger Federer was a name unheard of;
Lionel Messi was in his nappies,
Usain Bolt was an unknown kid in the Jamaican backwaters.
The Berlin Wall was still intact,
USSR was one big, big country,
Dr Manmohan Singh was yet to “open” the Nehruvian economy.
It seems while Time was having it’s toll on every individual on the face of this planet, Time excused one man. Time stands frozen in front of Sachin Tendulkar.
We have had champions, we have had legends, but we have never had another Sachin Tendulkar and we never will.
Regards,
nkm
Amitabh Bachchan open to acting in Middle East films
Muscat: India’s iconic film star - Amitabh Bachchan - has said he is open to act in any film made in the Middle East Region.
“Sure why not. If there is something constructive and there is a viable proposition I will surely act in them.”
Bachchan said in reply to a question if he would consider offer to act in a film made in the region.
In a brief interaction with media on his arrival at the Muscat International Airport on Friday, Bachchan also had a good word to say about the Muscat Film Festival.
“No place is small for any kind of international event,” he said referring to Muscat Film Festival during which Bachchan will be honoured.
“Every place has its own importance,” he stressed, adding that the central location of Muscat was very important.
“The fact that it is so close to India and many other western countries, it is always welcome to have an international (film) festival here Muscat),” he reckons.
“Films are an entity that promote integration, happiness, friendliness amongst people and I do believe it is one of the greatest integrators of the world today,” he said about the world cinema in general.
He reiterated that the films bring people together. “Therefore, he added, any form of international film festival is always very welcome.”
This is my very first visit to Oman. I feel honoured and delighted, as the Muscat International Film Festival committee has decided to honour me with a lifetime achievement award.
“I am very humbled and grateful. I feel the honour is more for the Indian film industry rather than me individually.”
“It (Muscat) looks beautiful from the air,” he said with a smile.
Oman has unexplored natural sights for world cinema to explore for their locations and when asked if he would see more Indian films shot here, Bachchan said: “I think many of our films have been actually shot here.”
“My son has shot a film here and if there is an opportunity for me in the future I would be happy to be here.”
When Gulf News asked, if he had had received any tips on Oman from his ‘Paa’ (his son Abhishek played his father in film named Paa), Bachchan laughed and said yes.
“He (Abhishek) said it is a beautiful place and very lovely people, very warm, very friendly, there is a natural beauty, there is desert, sea as well as the mountains, which is a unique feature,” he enthused, and stressed that he would like to explore some sites during his brief three-day stay.
“For me it is a very personal delight because the international film festival is honouring me with the lifetime award,” he pointed out.
“Any recognition that is given to any individual from my country is a recognition given to my industry and indeed to the country,” he said proudly.
Thanks for your kind words, Renate; your comment about red ink made me laugh out loud! And Barun, I appreciate your friendly words too.
But I just have to take this opportunity to say that personal remarks and abuse which have happened from time to time on the blog are happily in the minority of the large number of positive and wonderful things that get said, get written here.
The one thing that I wish there could be a solution to is the matter of identity theft, of one person taking another’s name in vain, as it were, and writing ugly comments meant to slander that person by using their name falsely.
It keeps happening to Jasmine Jaywant over and over, and it has happened to others too. I wish something could be done to prevent this, but I don’t know if it’s feasible. I think that on Google and on Twitter when you sign up with a name then no one else can sign up with that same exact name; a variation has to be devised. It would help the problem of fake ID comments if this could take place on this blog. However, I don’t know if it is technologically possible to do this on a single blog, not even this one which is the grandest, the TAJ MAHAL of blogs. I am a computer/technology neanderthal, so would need to hear from my fellow fmxt who have expertise in this area.
Just askin’…
Love to one and all,
Phyllis
ANAT MAGEN., # 220
Dear Anat Magen. I certainly understand your joy and euphoria and very much i respect you, but please, think before to write that what you have written in your post… It does not look ridiculous and not very decently further to develop this theme here.. certainly we love and we adore our precious mr. Bachchan, but I think that on a blog it is necessary to observe decency frameworks.
Dear ledy from a blog, can throw in me stones if I am not fair..
Dear Amitji.. Excuse me please for my indignation and if I am not fair..
All my love to you my dearest one..)
Gorgeous man!
Hello Sir -
I have to tell you I am impressed how you have carried yourself throughout your life and what an influence you have been on the people of India and across the world. You can point in a direction and people will march to that. That comes with responsibility and I got to tell you - you are carrying it with such amazing grace - and thats part of the reason why people like to follow you.
Keep up the great work!! Blogging is an amazing way of letting people into your world of views, thoughts and things around you. Damn… you have copyrights on your blog too? All rights are reserved too. Man… you do know how to take care of yourself - and I am sure it came after many learnings in life.
Keep up the great work!! Lifetime awards phuh! tell them you must be kidding.. this has got to be work for multiple life times. Give it back to them and ask them to come back with a better award. Come on Mr. B… thinking about what is a good friendly name to call you by … you see I am from south India - we are a little torn between a similar tall figure Dr. Rajkumar, Mr. Rajnikanth and you.
Keep doing what you have done for the past 50-60 years. I hope you get to read other peoples blogs too. I dont have one - I do micro/mini blogging on FB (you see my thoughts are like lightning strikes) they only last a couple of seconds.
I will look you up on FB - if you are on - you can see my lightning strikes. Maybe I will create a blog on bigadda - if i do I will post my link.
Oh BTW - I found out about this blog from the India Reporter magazine in a takeout indian restaurant in Chicago. You know you got your publicity going for you
Enjoy Muscat!
Say hai to everyone in your family - we know everyone really well. I think my wife loves Abhishek more than me. As for Aishwarya Rai - your cousins are my close buddies (they are remotely connected via your native - they are also Rais from the Madikeri/Mangalore area). My boy knows SRK though - sorry - I am sure you wouldnt mind. I like Aamir Khan and your movies because I want to be told something new that I already didnt know. Your movies like Sarkar, the second Sarkar were brilliant. Black was great too. Mr. Aamir Khan as Phungsuk Wangdu was also brilliant.
Go Bollywood!! Go BigB!
Dear Sir,
I am so happy that you were so close to me. I stay just about 20 kms from Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. I understand that you didnt want to let your EF know where were you, coz if you were in Abu Dhabi, I would have definitely bothered you to meet. I respect that you also need some space and I am gald that you had that and you are back from the Opulence
I am sure you will have a good stay in Oman, the place which you are talking about similar to Kerala is called Salalah in Oman, I visited that place a year back and it is really beautiful, it is about 1,500 kms from Abu Dhabi and I drove down to that place, yes I love to go on long drives, while on my way back I went to Muscat as well, it is a beautiful city.
Congratulation once again for the honor which you will be getting at the Fim Festival.
How was your stay in Abu Dhabi, did you visit any places. I think hotel itself is a tourist place, I have seen a part of it, but definitely not the rooms, heard its very hi-tech with all the latest possible amenities.
I hope when you visit Abu Dhabi or Dubai next you will not be in Opulence and your UAE FMXT will get to see you.
Take care of your health.
With lots of love
Oh - I forgot to write about Mrs. Bachchan. My elder sister was a huge fan of Ms. Bachchan those days (of Silsila). I remember she used to wish that you married her - and so you did. In the past 1/2 hour I have watched Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Revlon ads 4 times already. NDTV Good Times!!
Dear Sir,
I came across a nice story, thought I will share it with you….
Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got
due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983.
From world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed:
“Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease”?
To this Arthur Ashe replied:
“The world over — 50 million children start playing tennis, 5 million
learn to play tennis, 500,000 learn professional tennis,
50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam,
50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to semi final, 2 to the finals,
when I was holding a cup I never asked GOD ‘Why me?’.
And today in pain I should not be asking GOD ‘Why me?’ ”
“Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrow keeps you Human,
Failure keeps you humble and Success keeps you glowing,
but only Faith & Attitude Keeps you going…
With lots of love
Dear Sir,
As you always say, a person learns all his life; I strongly think that you should watch more carefully the characters played by Late Mr. Sanjeev Kumar; I strongly believe that it will help you to play roles, better, of your age.
Jaya ji will also agree with me, as she had shared some very good roles with him on screen.
I believe Mr. Dilip Kumar had portrayed every role in his own style with great impression, but Mr Sanjiv Kumar had common man’s touch with elegance, in his each character.
And because I appreciate and admire you and Mr Sanjiv Kumar (and Late Mr. Balraj Sahni) more than any other actor, I had such thought for you.
with all due respect and great love,
Deepak
Hi Mr Bachchan
Hope my mail finds you in the best of your health and spirits in the greens of muscat.Now it’s not between 2 yellows and a green but it’s all green.Hee Hee.
You have such a great sense of humour.I have always appreciated that.I am sure lot of FmXt will be relieved by your revealtion of the mystery.
The natural beauty of muscat is appreciable and the concern of preserving and enhancing it’s natural beauty by the authority is commendable.
Thanks for posting the pics during the shoot of Ajooba.I always love to see pics of yester years movies.i LOVED AJOOBA.
Many-Many congratulations for the lifetime achievement award.
Take care
Love & warm regards
Dearest one,
Y? I know not…but this is the first time in my life I have got an answer to some of the pricking issues, which nags day& night, time & again.
Some where it will be wrong to underestimate the potential one have to overcome some difficult moments in life, each of them may by right or diplomatic way try to get an anwer.Once we resolve to fight the evil from within you are a winner for you are driven with soul force.
But howsoever we try at certain instances one has to face repercussions, social boycott. At the end what is the sole weapon? Remain out of the system if you cannot improve the system. Half of the mankind do this and wait for somebody, as you said a GANDHI/ a HITLER.
The mere realization that something wrong is happening is itself a beginning towards a better tomorrow. Most of us have woven a cozy dreamland around with a continuous thrust the world around me is beautiful.
Any way I personally to pledge that I will trust henceforth my conscience to weed off all the evils and to all those whom I can reach out.
Dreams……….dear they are messengers, stimulators and millions of myths associated with it. My little experience says all those who loved us will always remain with us, they never go far, only thing is we in our mechanic life tend to give a deaf ear to their voices. Special prayers will surely get us to retag the connection.
Every day before going to bed I tell my students…………………
Think of the best things that happened to you today
Think what gud things you could to others today
Think in what way can God gift you with one better day
Pray for all your foes and friends and see how God smiles upon you
With tons of love
Nita
Amit ji,
Ajooba is one of my favourite movies of yours.I want to ask one thing ,why were not Indian character artists chosen for this movie Ajooba. Even though the acting of the local artists was good but they didnt pronounce the hindi words correctly?
****dear Anat Magen, well done! Where is your shop, I’d love to visit
Respected Amitabh ji,
Thankyou so much for writing about Shashi Kapoor ji. In complete agreement with you, it was indeed deeply disturbing to see Shashiji in failing health. Glad Filmfare finally managed to honour him with the LTA award. There are just so many such stars who are yet to be recognised for the wonderful work they have done over the years. The least we can do is acknowledge. Thanks also for sharing those lovely pictures of your hotel.
Maybe I missed this piece, but when is IIFA?
Just heard another gossip or rumour. Juicy Mausi’s source on the hospital beat called her in the afternoon to say that Abhishek Bachchan had walked in at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai to undergo a CT Scan.
The actor apparently had some nagging back pain. My birdie couldn’t have enough of him, and was relieved to know that his reports were normal!
Dear Sir,
You continue to reap the benefits of your hard work over the past four decades. You continue to travel the globe and its landscapes, meeting people of all nationalities and acknowledging their love for you as well as Indian Cinema. May I remind you once more Sir that you carry within you some unique blessings from some unique source.
Congratulations on yet two more Awards coming your way!
I suppose when we travel the journey of life as well as places and witness all things beautiful we are bound to be overwhelmed by the effect it has on our psyche. The memories live on…I have never been to that part of the world, maybe some day.
It is good to know you remain in touch with Shashi ji. There is something just so endearing about him, how I wish his love was never taken away from him.. I wish him well. I think if I met him I would get very emoional… Please do give him our love.
The photos - If it is not marble it is not the Arabian Peninsula! (As if I live there…heh heh..) The room is beautiful with all its grandeur…I mean if this beautiful place is thrust upon you, what else can you do but enjoy!!
My sisters-in-law and their children are coming over soon for Mothers Day tomorrow..to spend the weekend with us so I better leave early and get down to preparations …The senior Mother in the family should and does take the place of pride God bless her.. as there will be an expected dividend tomorrow hopefully..
So I have one question on this rainy, windy, and miserable morning in New York. What are ‘bouncers’ in cricket and how does that relate to your philosophical posts? I cannot think of any part of baseball that would weigh me down philosophically.
Today is the last day of Standard time and tonight/tomorrow morning at 2AM we turn the clocks(and watches of all colors) forward. That cheers me up a little.
I hope you are having a blast in serene Muscat.
I know you will send some sunshine with your next post.
Mr Bachchan,
I could not resist the temptation to congratulate you on your LTA. Go great, sir. I am at Pune today, and have eaten a pure Maharashitrian veggie meal. And after reading about 200 posts here, I felt sleepy and slept it out as well. I will be back to full-time participation from Tues! Love you.
Dear Mr Bachan
Did i not tell u to post some pictures of wherever you are ! Sir did you see everyone of us enjoyed seeing what you saw with your mortal eyes and we are not there with you physically but mentally all of us are bound together !
Its just awesome.May you be blessed.
I am amazed as to when you get so much time to write a blog 4 us and have read in Karan;s blog ( http://www.itimes.com/public/karanjohar/blog/The-Big-Boss?page=2“)quote”
Amitabh Bachchan continues to show, even today, the kind of force, resilience, and drive that stretches and pushes an actor to all possible limits even after seemingly having seen and done it all.” -its so true when it comes from people who have watched you at close quarters…. My salutations to you with great reverence !!
He also adds about you as follows:QUOTE”
He stands tall for the industry every time he’s called, and is always one of the first to extend a hand of support and solidarity. He replies to every single email, text, or letter that comes his way, and does so earnestly, not because he has to, but simply because he wants to. He sends the warmest, most thoughtful text to me every year on my father’s death anniversary and will always remember the last conversation he had with you, because he understands the value of relationships. He advises carefully, and sometimes cautiously, because he understands what the weight and gravity of his words might mean to you. He treats everyone equally, even those who worship him, and sometimes expect too much. He prides his family more than any of his individual talents. His shoulders get broader, and his hugs get warmer, filled with enthusiasm, and fortunate for the opportunities that come his way. -UNQUOTE
OH GREAT LORD THE CURRENT IS OFF I MUST HAVE LOST WHAT I POSTED !!
May I take this opportunity to say that Sir your writing is really a great feat and an achievement of surpassing excellence so far as your usage of words is concerned. You help us to conjecture new ideas, pictures of how you want us to think.May God bless you with all the awards ad also you make us proud as an Indian who is carrying the mantle on your shoulder to prove to the world that you are par excellence. I think it is your sheer perseverance is enviable and adored, by all of us and we take would like to express our reverence to your exquisite talent and energy which is cut from an very rare and beautifully embroidered exquisite fabric of humankind. I feel the zest for life and the exuberance for life , coupled with wisdom, is due to your personal experiences which probably keeps you connected to your roots.
In short may be ran into a high risk of coming across as a great sycophant to portray the great soul of a man who has already been immortalized in wax.!!!!
I had the pleasure of seeing it in Madamme Tussads & have taken photos of it too!
My reverence to you Sir!
and also show the same respect to our great Shammiji & the other favourite jodi of yours and ours too the Great Mr Shashi Kapoor whom I would love to show my respects too.
Sir ! May you win more laurels for yourself & the country God bless you !
looking forwards to your photos & thoughts !My best wishes to your members of the family !Just need your blessings!
Dear AB,
Its celebration time. Our blog won silver at the first ever Indian Digital Media Awards (IDMA) so its not just LTA time only but its also IDMA time too!
How anyone can adhere to discipline at such extra luxurious and opulent places? Its almost impossible and surely can make body and mind lazy and heavy. Best of luck for your gym & diet routine.
Good evening my dearest Mr Bachchan,
Hoping you slept well are refreshed and rejuvenated in your picturesque environs on this inauguration day at the MIFF.
There is no feeling as heady as waking up in an exotic new location surrounded by sand, sea, piercing bright blue skies with searing sunshine for a complete mood boost. You have certainly inspired nostalgia for warm sand between my toes, but for now I sincerely hope you will steal time from your duties to luxuriate in moments of abandon before departing. If you can escape the barrage of media interviews after you are awarded that is. It’s a pity the Al Bustan Palace is actually hosting the event since I fear there may be no escape for our perennial ‘man of any moment‘!
You have shared many on and off set anecdotes, perhaps the Russian coin flicker was not among them. For an actor to be mimicked by a member of the public, must be an uncanny part of mingling among them and the expression on your face is noticeably one of bewilderment when it happens. Much like on Lift Kara De when you judged a collection of your own characters, you didn’t appear to know whether to smile or scowl at times… Again thank you for the anecdotes, the pictures and the adorable one with baby is my favourite too!
And okay, Mr. Clever Clogs, the in between the yellow and the green riddle managed to mystify most people, you are officially the king of confusion. Although I like to believe I was just ‘vaguely’ on the right track in presuming it was something you wore on your person, like your ties. Many people at the time questioned the three watches; I simply accepted and dismissed it as just another endearingly quirky Bachchanism. He holds a mobile phone in each hand, one for each ear I presume and he wears three watches on two wrists… of course…
Just arriving from a shopping stint in the city and must defrost myself. Again wishing a lovely evening as proceedings commence and warmest congratulations for yet another utterly deserved LTA.
Enjoy the events and celebrations for now my dearest Mr Bachchan.
Love & congratulatory kisses,
Jasmine
Dear Amitabh,
I’m a huge admirer of yours and a huge music fanatic. I am currently 19 years old and a huge fan of Hindi music. I have been waiting since I was 6 years old to hear the songs from Gayak (1996) that Big B cassetes had the rights to.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMaYpHrgZ9o a youtube petition
Please Big B, it is my dream to hear these songs in full and I have been praying/hoping for over 13 years for these songs and with no such luck or info!
Please Please listen to my plea and somehow get these songs to my heart just like your movies have filled a huge void in my life with gems like KKKG and Black. Itunes, youtube, online radio, tapes whichever format but please I can’t stand the wait. =[
my email is ishqvishk@gmail.com
Please don’t ignore this! =[=[
Your one of the most powerful figures in bollywood, only you can make it happen . PLEASE please please!!!
Good evening, Mr. A. Bachchan.
Nice to know that you are in the UAE. Wonderful places in the photo.
It is interesting to find out about upcoming film festival in Hong Kong.
As health Shashi Kapoor? My sincere wishes for good health to him.
Very nice that you write about Russia. I didn’t know that you were in the Crimea. Legends of the Crimea beautiful. Nature has generously endowed the Crimea. The mild climate, sea, beautiful mountains, orchards and vineyards, the air filled with the fragrance of plants and sea. Largest Cities: Simferopol, Sevastopol, Yalta, Kerch, and Feodosiya. It was in the Crimea (Cherson) in 988, Russia officially adopted Orthodox Christianity. When I was little, we often rested there. My grandfather came from the Kuban, and is close to the Crimea. Now these places in the Ukraine, but earlier it was a unified state and the ppl were other …
Sir one of my latest quatation which I have wrote :
Movies are much Better than Serials. In Movies Villain play negative role for I hour, in Serials 1 year.Movies end only in 3 hr.with a moral.Serials end in 3 years. Think which entertainment media is making our Heart worst ? save ur Family.
Wow! Amitji,
Your photos with explanation and memories is so interesting and wonderful- keep this going- it’s awesome.
I really feel so much for SHASHI KAPOOR- he wasthe most handsome hero other than dharmender I admire. Pleasesay hi to him on my behalf and always wish him happiness and not to forget his cute smile with a crooked tooth on the side- makes him looks so attractive.
And coming to you, I wont say you are handsome but your towering height, your deep voice and deep set eyes cannot be forgotten- you are charming anyways and top it all-your honesty, humbleness, aloofness, modesty, courage to fight back draws me towards you but I dont think you make a good husband, haha for you give more attention to your daughter- in- law and son.
Wish you give same attention to your wife too, who always stood by you at all times.
I have noticed in award functions, when you both are called on stage, you just walk away as though you are alone and poor Jayaji keep hurrying and almost running to catch up with you, thats not the way to treat your lady. Please be an affectionate husband too for I love you and your family.
Keep smiling,
Sairam,
Nalini
I can claim this becoz I solve my all problem of life of from lyrics of movies song,your Dialogues of movies like in Agneepath you told ” Yeh phone bahut Galat Cheez banaya hai, Waha Aadmi bolta kuch, suchta kuch, udhar Adami Samjhtha Kuch. this is very practial dialogue, from phone conversation many people were misunderstand me, than next day I have mail ur this dialogue to everyone, and everyone has understand me and my problem, now everyone is happy to me.Thanks for ur Dialogue, keep use this kind of dialogues in ur films.
Dear Mr. Bachchan Ji,
Having seen the pictures of Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi I must admit that the life you are enjoying today is a reflection of the price you’ve paid up to now. You deserve it. Many aspire but only the few achieve it. Hard work never fails because life is always fair in the end. You keep well.
Dear Deepak Nair jee,
On March 12th at 10:56 am you write to Amit jee that you would like to meet him and on March 12th at 12:46 am you write that you got to meet him and share pictures with us. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing…
Deepak Jee, please tell us — how did that happen? Did Amit jee call you? Did Amit jee get someone to call you? I would love to know everything IF you want to share with us.
I just want you to know that I am so happy for you, NO ONE else BUT NO ONE ELSE would know how it feels to meet Amit jee, how much happiness it brings to person’s life better than me. Actually that sounds like an arrogant statement although all I am saying is that I know how it feels because by the grace of God, yours truly had the oppertunity to meet him in 2004 and one day I will sit and write to our extended family in detail about my meeting with Sir. Although I think meeting him now after our blog is something different and I would love to meet him again and I hope God is listening to me and would make it possible.
But now if you can share your story with us, I am sure all of us family members would love to hear from you.
Deepak from Vancouver Canada
Dear Amitji,
Welcome to Muscat.Muscat has been my home for the past 5 years.I teach English at Sultan Qaboos University. So near and yet so far. I am recovering from a surgery and am banned to go to Al Bustan Palace Hotel to see you receive the Lifetime Award. What a shame! I wish you get the time to sneak out and see the serene ( you rightly put it!) beauty of Muscat. Dont miss the beaches. Enjoy the movies.Do come to the University if you have the time.
Will you reply to me ? That way i will feel I met you. When are you leaving Muscat? Maybe I can come to the at the airport to see you go.
We are all proud of you.
mr amitabh bachchan, name is big itself.we are ur soldier fans . soldier fans means that we fight 4 u and even break bones of others 4 u.but 1 thing makes me sad is that y don’t u do powerful roles like ek ajnabee and sarkaar.we can’t see our mr.bachchan to be fragile in front of enemies.
Dear Sir,
I am Savitha Nagabhushan writing from Mysore.We heard that you will be promoting kerala tourism But please do research on cruelty to animals (the voiceless creatures on the net before endorsing kerala tourism.
I have attached some pictures taken few years ago at Kerala ,pictures taken are from Thrissur’s Pooram Festival .What you see in the picture is what Kerala is ..The decorated elephant we see is suffering from foot rot and maggot infested wounds but the elephant is decorated and being used for the festival .they are oblivious to the pain and suffering and.use elephants, rent out elephants for temples and festivals .They have only profits and making of moolah on their mind.
Being iconic figure where people look up to you ,please think again before endorsing kerala .
Hope you will not disappoint .
Kind regards Savitha
please send your mail id so that i can send the cruelty pictures.There is no point in being insulated from the sufferings.If we cannot raise our voice for the voiceless and are indifferent to their suffering then we do not see god in them.It is not the cruelty of the few people but indifference of millions the we need to condemn.
Have u been following the IPL? If so, I would love 2 hear ur thoughts?
AB
It is NASTY out there! I just battled what seems like hurricane force winds to walk to and from the Sheepshead Bay Public Library to take the Census 2010 test. I got a 98% but now my brain hurts. It took twice as long for all of us to fill out the forms than to take the actual test. Now if I only knew Russian so I would have a better chance to get the job.
It is so windy and rainy that there are branches down everywhere, broken umbrellas, and a small boat got loose in Sheepshead Bay I don’t remember the wind blowing against my windows this forcefully, even in the snowstorms this year.
Thank you all for your kind words/ condolences, they are always of immense comfort to anyone who has been in the same position from our EF.
Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
How are you ? And how was your day ? : )
It is my day off today .. Morning was rainy and now though it is not warm - the sun is shining and I am going to spent time outdoors.. There was also some serious problem with my computer earlier.
I got it to work, but it keeps me worried now..
I hope when I return to see your new post it’ll be all right…
Wishing you a nice and serene evening and a good night’s rest …
God bless and take care.
Much love to you.
awesome…..loved to see vintage amitabh of Ajooba…brings back those good memories….thanks for sharing with us Mr Bachchan
your biggest fan
A scarcity of media information customarily prevails when you are abroad, but this particular Film Festival seems to be run like a secret operation! You may not have been awarded today. Instead your airport lounge rendezvous in London with Amir Khan is still the subject circulating through cyberspace… Alas, my curiosity shall have to be sated if my dearest Mr Bachchan wishes to share details later.
But, please don’t be two finger typing into the small hours of the morning again. Even though you have gained time, accruing more jet lag should be a niggling consideration for you. Apparently this Marathi Literary festival - which I am excited about even though you haven’t confirmed attendance - is just two days after The HK F. Sincerely hope you pace yourself, that’s all. My Day is apparently incomplete without a mini nagging session, but now I shall leave you in sweet serenity…. More love, Jasmine xx
Dear Sir,
Hope you had a great day today! It was great meeting you. I will cherish those moments for ever! Please take a look at the pics. Thanks. Deepak Nair, Muscat, deepak_nair@yahoo.com
Dearest Sir…..
Congratulationson the Lifetime Award….any pics of the event?
Loved the laydies and laydaas….cracked me up.
Wife and kids flew out today. Set of last night for London Stanstead at 6 minutes past midnight. Reached there at half fivish. Did not like the kids going….but my in laws live there so….has to to be done.
On way bak i was so tired and slumber overcame….nodded a few winks on th emotorway….could have been extremely disastrous….sleeping on the motorway, whilst driving 90 mph……not good. So stopped at service station and went sleep for a good hour. After a hot coffee….up and running again.
Came home and was sooo depressed. No kids playing….hate it.
I think we should change the topic.
I didnt know Raesh Khanna was younger than you??? And that Jeetendra was older??? Any memories on these greats??
Amitji…i have to ask for your leave
Lots of love
I love film Ajooba,superb film,ur action and style is amazing.
Hello Mr.Bachchan
I’m a big fan just like millions who post comments on this website….. I live in Toronto and had the opportunity of meeting you while you were in Toronto for the KANK premiere….
I remember when I was 11 years old and had the opportunity to go to a concert at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens, it was truly unforgettable.
Last week as I was surfing you-tube and noticed someone actually posted the video from that show!! wow, that is such rare footage and it brought back so many old memories for me and my family.
Your talent continues to grow……… it’s truly amazing that even today, you continue to bring your fans such great movies such as, Teen Patti, and Paa.
Thought you may be interested in watching your old performance in Toronto.
Dear Shri Amitji,
Yesterday, I had glimpses of your towering personality from a distance….so many time unknowingly my hand moved to shake hand with you…..and my mind wanted to say Hi to you….
.”Yes I close my eyes and experience that day I happened to meet you in India….on the shooting sequels of Namak Haram….in fact we all came to watch then the super star…Rajesh Khanna…..but your hansom presence, deadly expressive eyes with eco-blended voice —-”-Hai kisine Aapne Maka Dudh Piya To”….made us to replace you as the Super Star in our mind.
Back to Muscat….we all Muscatels feel over whelmed and lucky that our heart favorite Amitji will being felicitated with “Life-Time-Achievement” award nowhere but in Muscat. “AHO BAGYAM”
Our heartiest Congratulations with this small Hindi Poem:
Jindagi Ka
Har Ek Kirdar,
Maine Kitabose,
Jinda Kiya Hay.
Har Ek Sas ‘
Dusreke Andajme Li Hay,
Bus,
Ek Jindagi Me Maine,
Sau Jindagiya Ji Li Hay.
Maine Bhi Apanapan,
Apne Hi Andaj Se,
Apnaya Hay,
Ek “Amitabh Bachchan”
Honeka maine Bhi
Kirdar Nibhaya Hai.
Maine Bhi Jina Jiya Hay.
Dear Amitji
Welldone,You have made us Indians so proud…….
I was watching 100 greatest stars of the world on BBC the other day..you ranked in the 80s..my husband thought,that is undermining your status..But I explained…standing tall in the top 100 of greatest stars of all times…It indeed is an achievement…from a country which saw the silver screen couple of decades after it was invented and evolving in the first world…It indeed is great
Best wishes..
yours sincerely
Anat: ty for remembering me… and now I must find out what happened. take care.
Amitabh Bachan , sometimes you said that you are influenced by sikhism . It is a publicity stunt . You were responsible for the killing of sikhs in Delhi in 1984 .
