Prateeksha, Mumbai February 26, 2010 Fri/Sat 12 : 12 Am
Amar Singh ji’s wife, Pankaja ji has lost her brother. It is the ‘barahvi’, the 12th day, a prayer special on the departed soul. Pankaja ji comes from an erstwhile principality in Gujarat, Deerd. Her family being the fuedal lords of the region. The ancestors ruling over the space, until of course the cessation of all the principalities to the British during its time of colonialism. And then subsequently in 1971, came the abolition of Privy Purses from all the rulers over the country.
Dared ( pronunc ; da ree d ) , is a small little town tucked away in the dry and rustic region of Gujarat, that surrounds the small little city, a 20 minute helicopter ride from Bhavnagar where we have flown together this early morning by 7 am - Aishwarya and I. Jaya and the Singh family have flown in from Delhi, and our timing is such that we both land from different directions, at the same time.
I had been once before to Dared, when Pankaja ji’s Mother had passed away. And now again today on a not very happy note. Life’s coincidences are such a mystery and such a surprise.
Anxious and starry eyed simple village people surround the make shift helipad built to allow our helicopter to land from Bhavnagar, by the hundreds. They wave and scream and shout, unaware of the circumstances that we are here for. The ancestral home is simple yet has still been maintained in the old world fort like structure, which houses the family.
It is a fort like construction and the workmanship is such that even after years and years of its existence, the palace, if it can be called that, is still quite the same. No effort has been made to restore and repair. But it does not require anything. Its pristine architecture still a marvel and its surroundings still kept the way they were first constructed.
Castle like doors and large gates usher you in to the ‘angan’, the court yard, a favorite of mine. I simply love them, courtyards - the ‘angan’. So much character to it. The sun is bright and getting to be a bit harsh. I like it. We sit within the portals of the ‘angan’. There is an air of silence about. Friends relatives and elders keep pouring in to pay their respects. That typical royal fuedal reverence to the elder, so exclusive to us and their special manner in which they greet, just so respectful and full of grace.
The women get down on their haunches hands folded in the ‘namaskar’, seek their blessings and then go about their respective works, heads covered in the presence of public and the men. Widows wear a black sari with a bright red border running right through it on the edge and are all bunched up in one corner of the house, in one of his rooms. The mood is sombre and sad. After short intervals someone breaks down and the others rush to console her. Death steals one of all inhibition and control. The prayers are on as we hear them in some corner. We are not supposed to be at the ‘pooja’. Mourners keep coming in paying respects to the elders of the family and then after expressing grief, leave. I sit there immersed in the ambience and thoughts for the moment. A large ‘neem’ tree in the middle of the ‘angan’, its width and height symbolizing how long it had been there and how long during its stay there it may have been a mute witness to the many that passed away under it.
‘Neem’, that wonder leaf, that wonder tree, its new leaves medicinal in property and diet. Its branches forming the early tooth brushes, called the ‘datun’, since its branches too were of considerable hygenic assistance, today standing there majestically alone, providing the much needed shade to an ever warming afternoon.
Most of rural and interior India is still so steeped in old customs values and practices. It is a delight to see them being enacted in front of us, even as the generation next sneers at it. And then just as quickly as we reached there, we were on our way back.
More needs to be observed on this but I am now flaking out … which in general colloquial language means … FLAKING OUT !!! I cannot fathom which part of the world I am right now, but if I can get sufficient sleep I probably will.
There may have been speculation and question marks on the Mumbai Mirror episode - many noticing that there was a silence on my part, but I did not not feel it necessary to include all of you in the process - and so I restrained myself. But a unknown message from a fan picks up the spirits -
” Coins always make so much sound ; but the currency notes are always silent. So when the value increases, keep yourself calm and silent.”
There is much here that needs explanation and it would need expanse and more time. Suffice to say for the moment that despite a few personal apologies from management and owners, no public apology has taken place. You cannot abuse me in public and then come and say sorry to me in private !!
So … even though we have great relations with the family in ownership and despite the fact that we have continuously responded to their needs whenever desired, unstintingly -
- the lawyers notice has been delivered to the editor of Mumbai Mirror, seeking on a legal plane retraction and apology -
- and we have informed Filmfare that neither will Aishwarya be performing at the event, for which all preparations had been made and neither shall any of us be attending. Which includes Balki the director of the film, even when Paa has been nominated in five categories for the evening. No coercion, just a voluntary decision of solidarity. Thank you Balki !! Instead he shall be coming over to discuss a few new and exciting ideas for our next film !! Could’nt have chosen a better time !!!
Let me rest now. I shall fill in more by the morn ..
Mornings are good for a clean and reinvigorated mind … they are also good for wishes of a pleasant night !! Ha ha ..
Love
Amitabh Bachchan

Haven’t been checking in lately. Just became a father for the first time. Kshama, our daughter was born on February 15-yes, a day shy lol Anyway, what a joy to have a daughter. You have often written about fatherhood and there is a great feeling-an immeasurable joy. She is daddy’s little girl.
It is sad to hear about the death. I am a Gujarati and I am impressed withyour knowledge of history. Our condolences to the family.
Well, keep on winning…

Hello amitji,
Just got back from watching ‘teen patti’. After a long time watched such a layered film with such great charecterisations, though my only grouse is that the ending was a tad abrupt. You are simply superb and so are all the new comers.
Well done and keep it up!
About the Mumbai Mirror episode, Well done on taking to the legal recourse. And your FmXt stands by you in your family’s decision to not attend it.
Sleep well and all the best.

Dear Big B,
Your decision to keep away from the awards befitting to the moment. Unless a pulic apology is given the matter does not rest. We are with you Sir.
I did read the news of the bhavnagar trip in deshgujarat, a link of which is attached herein. It even has a couple of pictures.
“Bollywood film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Ray Bachchan, Jaya Prada, Himachal Pradesh’s ex-Chief Minister Shri Vir Bhadra Sinh today arrived at Bhavnagar airport to attend Shri Prithvirajsinh’s uttarkriya ceremony at Dared. Late Prithvirajsingh was brother-in-law of ex-Samajwadi leader Amarsingh who is nearest friend of Bachchan family. Amarsingh was also present at the ceremony with his twins daughters and wife.
All dignitaries arrived at Bhavnagar airport through chartered plan and reached Dared village by helicopter. Prithvirajsinh belongs to royal family of Dared, a village near Gujarat’s Bhavnagar city in Saurashtra. His widow Abhilashakumari is Judge in Gujarat High Court”

All this MM controversy is totally unnecessary, I’m with you but you should have been little careful when you write here about family stuff. I know you’ll say that this is your diary but you can not take away the very nature of it’s availability to the public. Better wise than sorry, sorry to your self.

Adarniya Shri Amitabh Bachchanji,
My condolences to Pankajaji and her family on this irreparable loss. Your depiction of the helicopter ride somehow reminds me of the shot from Slumdog Millionaire, that probably was the most disgusting sequence I have seen. Anyways, good to know about your follow-up with regards to the MM episode, hope sanity prevails and they do the needful sooner rather than later. Your films with Balki have been amazing, so eagerly waiting for the next venture… more details as and when you feel appropriate would be welcome. You seem quite tired, so take adequate rest Sirji. Hope to see you back with a bang in the morning, till then… Shubh Ratri… Sleep Well and Keep Good Health…
—Aavjo
PS: still waiting for any hints from you as to how I can contact your office to seek and appointment with you… any help from the FmXT members who have been successful in doing the same would be acknowledged and “appreciated” (one of the most used word in the US… used at leisure along with ‘Thankyou’ and ‘Sorry’….)
I am extremely glad for your stance on Mumbai Mirror and the legal action you are taking against them and equally glad regarding the decision on Filmfare. This is the way to go! Bravo!
Most enlightening cultural note on Deerd. Thank you..

Dear Mr B:
I come back to write on the blog after many weeks. Have been reading, just didn’t feel compelled to write. Guess I didn’t have anything meaningful or profound to say, probably still don’t. Lekin aaj bahut din baad aapse kuch kehne ka mann kar raha hai.
Please do not rest until you get an unconditional apology from the unscruplous publication about the slander they have published against your daughter-in-law. Apalling behavior, and you and your family do not deserve to be unwitting targets for such slander simply because you live ‘public figure’ lives.
More power to you.

Amitji, I commend you on walking the talk — on taking legal action against the tabloid. That is the best way to go about it, since they neither had the grace nor the dignity to apologize and retract. I also applaud your family for the decision to not attend the Filmfare awards ceremony. It must not have come about easily, but a message needed to be sent, and it is very heartening to know that you and the family chose to reveal the courage of your convictions in this manner.
The loss will be totally Filmfare’s.
It is very nice of Balki to show his solidarity with you.
Loved the description of the old feudal kothi/haveli with the aangan and neem tree in the middle. Your description was so clear I could see you sitting there on that progressively warm afternoon, could see the people coming in a stream to show their respect, and imagine the women wailing and the mantras being chanted in the pooja.
Please rest. I hope you have turned in for the night, and I wish you a good and peaceful night. Hope you wake up feeling fresh and energetic. Loved your wry humor at the end!
I hope the reviews and revenues of Teen Patti are good. It will be a while before I can see the film.
My love and regards, always,
Jasmine Jaywant
Hello Mr. Bachchan,
May I, as far as Filmfare awards, will you and family consider to respectfully ‘Deni’ them. That might be call it “EYE FOR AN EYE”. I am not sure rest of HINDUSTANI Cinema as a whole would join and may they return invitation.
As far as personally “Times of India” group deserves exactly these kind of treatment. They have done it and continue to do same to Every One Else.
With regards and all the best.

Dear friend Shankar-Abu Dhabi,
HI, Hope everything will well soon. . .

The Mumbai Mirror situation is such a pity.
My heart heaves several sighs whenever I hear the word “Mumbai”, my place of birth and the city I grew up in in the eighties. I have since then immigrated to the USA only to cherish all my memories of the city and my childhood there. Having traveled t several cities in the world, I can be assured that there is no city like it…alive and kicking all the time. It’s to my dismay that unethical and souless associations tie their name to that of THE regal brand, “Mumbai”
Found a few intersting quotes on journalism I would like to share with you. This is not to say all journalists are void of talent….nevertheless, here they are
Junk journalism is the evidence of a society that has got at least one thing right, that there should be nobody with the power to dictate where responsible journalism begins – Cyril Connolly
Journalists are like whores; as high as their ideals may be, they still have to resort to tricks to make money – Pierce Thone
Exaggeration of every kind is as essential to journalism as it is to dramatic art, for the object of journalism is to make events go as far as possible – Arthus Schopenhauer
The public have an insatiable curiosity to know everything. Except what is worth knowing. Journalism, conscious of this, and having tradesman-like habits, supplies their demands. – Oscar Wilde
Have a wonderful weekend and looking forward to watching your next, Teen Patti.
Love,
Sabrina
Amit ji,
In addition to the steps you have already taken, the FmXT should come up with ways to show our displeasure to MM/ToI/Filmfare. Suggestions?
Regards,
Venky
Mr.Bachchan,
Sorry about the Mumbai Mirror still not apologising. Glad you are going through the legal process. Hopefully, with you not attending the award function, you will get an apology soon.
Take care, Mr. Bachchan.
Sujata.
I am so happy that you have taken legal action against Mumbai Mirror.
I am though sad that you and your family won’t be attending Filmfare but nothing can be compromise for family respect. What they did was way over outrageous act.
Hello Amitabhji and Jayaji,
Yes it is very sad to hear of death. Our condolences to the family.
You and Aishwarya took a good decision not to be at the Filmfare Awards.
I saw SKATING on INDIAN CD. Skating with a Bindi on forehead.May be someone will put on the blog.
Last few days I was preoccupied with grand kids, so was unable to come on the blog. Missed a lot.Today there is snow in New Jersey. The grand kids want to play in the snow. They love it.Due to the snow cannot see Teen Patti in Theater today. Let us see may be on Sunday.Wished I was in Goregaon, I could have seen in Samrat ( now I heard a multiplex).have seen so many movies in Goregaon where I lived earlier.
Hope everything is fine with Shanker’s aunt and uncle. Our prayers are with you.
Saw You, Aishwarya ,Rehman and Shah Rukh Khan on NDTV Awards including Jayaji. Aishwarya highly spoke about you and Jayaji (Maa And Paa).
Please take care.
D.B from USA
Dear Amit ji,
Thats the decision I was waiting for. Love you a lifetime. MM served the notice and you opted out of Filmfare.
Great decision. Why should media have all the fun?
Regards
Shraddha Kapoor tells that she bagged her debut role in Teen Patti on her own merit and not because she happens to be the daughter of Shakti Kapoor or the niece of Padmini Kolhapure.
How intimidating was it to share the frame with Amitabh Bachchan?
It was simply a great learning experience to work with an actor of the stature of Amitabh Bachchan. Amitji knew that he would unknowingly make us feel intimidated and hence he made it a point not to spare us and left no opportunity to pull our legs and make us shed our inhibitions and feel comfortable and at ease while working with him. In fact, I’d be worried if I was not asked to give a retake or Amitji did not give me any suggestion to improve myself.
What did you find interesting about Mr. Bachchan, as an actor?
It was interesting to note that Amitji used to cut himself off and be aloof whenever he had to do a serious scene. Amitji made me realize to what extent you have to go as an actor to go inside yourself to perform the character that you are playing.
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
From me always best wishes !
Sleep well, sweet dreams and
waiting for a better tomorrow !
New movie ? How about Jim Corbett ?
Love,
e.t.
P.S. My sincere condolences to your friend and his family.
Dearest Mr. Bachchan, Sir,
So very sorry to hear about Mrs. Singh ji’s brother…I will say a prayer for the entire family from over here in Florida, USA. Please relay that to the family if the subject should present itself.
Very glad to know about the direction you’ve chosen to take in the mumbai mirror situation. I am in COMPLETE agreement with you not attending that
awards ceremony being held by their parent company…they do not deserve to have you or Ms. Aishwarya in attendance…Mr. Balki’s stock just went up in my book as well…THANK YOU, MR. BALKI!!! GOD BLESS YOU FOR STANDING UP WITH MY FRIEND MR. BACHCHAN! Take that, timesgroup.
Wonderful to think that you will now be using this newly available ‘free-time’ to look ahead and plan new film projects! I want to know EVERYthing, okay?
Please go and rest now, my Dear. You really have been through the ringer lately what with so many press junkets, dedications, and an insane amount of travelling…goodness knows you deserve to rest… Sleep well, my Angel, and return to me soon…as I shall be waiting.
Love,
Valorie
Dear Amitabhji,
I remember the day in 1982, when the news of your serious injury on the sets of Coolie broke. It said you may not survive. The country was shocked. Millions cried. Special prayers for your good health and long life were offered in temples, mosques, churches and gurdwaras. I joined the prayers for your health and long life.
The writings of your father, the late Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan, had a great influence on me. From early childhood, I have read his poetry and prose that combined Kabir, Keats, Tagore, Omar Khayyam and Shakespeare into artful construction of ideas with deep reflections. Kya bhooloon kya yaad karoon made me stand up and speak the truth — without fear, or favour — however difficult or awkward it may be. Inspired by his writings and fully subscribed to his views, admiration and love for you was natural.
Natural is also my shock and dismay at your acceptance of the offer from Narendra Modi of Gujarat to be his brand ambassador.
I want to think that you don’t know much about Modi. And so, I must tell you what Modi is and what he has done in Gujarat, which has invited global condemnation, international sanctions and even calls for his arrest.
On February 28, Zakiya Jafri will relive the agony of witnessing the brutal massacre of her husband, former Congress MP Ahsan Jafri, and scores of other women and children in her house. On that fateful day, as the crowd chanting Jai Shri Ram started gathering around her society in Ahmedabad, waving swords, trishuls and torches, and frightened people from the neighborhood started pouring into her house seeking protection, Ahsan saheb asked her to go upstairs to the bedroom and stay there until called. From upstairs, Zakiya Jafri could not see what was going on downstairs in her house, but from the unruly crowd outside shouting ‘jalao (burn)’, ‘kaato (cut)’, ‘maaro (kill)’, the cries of women and children from inside, and heat from the walls of her bedroom, she could guess what was taking place and was fearful of what was to come. The immoral dance of brutality, cries, fires, and more cries, continued for three hours. Three hours later, police arrived. As the survivors were taken down and out of the house, which was still smouldering, Zakiya saw, for the first time, several corpses burning inside her house. Mutilated body parts burning outside her house. Little bodies of children floating in her water tank, who having been set afire may have jumped into the tank. She saw one blue rubber slipper — the one Jafri saheb always wore in his office — lying outside. It was soaked with blood. The other one was missing.
Eight years have passed. Zakiya’s memory of that day does not fade — the day when the world she had built, brick by brick, with a lifetime of hard work, full of aspirations, dreams and love was ruthlessly and deliberately destroyed before her own eyes. The most important person of her life, to whom she had completely dedicated her life, loved, adored and revered, and like any traditional Indian woman, could not imagine life without — had been brutally killed. She was shattered. Her deep shiny eyes, full of sparkle and love, went lifeless.
There were 2,000 similar stories that month in Gujarat.
Modi, as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, presided over and orchestrated that massacre of innocent Muslims in his state, which is widely regarded as a genocide. Modi’s culpability and crime has been well established. Although, to date, he has succeeded in circumventing the legal system, the law is slowly closing in on him. Modi and 61 others, which include Cabinet colleagues, policemen and civil servants, are under criminal investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) specifically constituted by the Supreme Court of India for their role in the mass murder and criminal conspiracy.
You may ask why Modi did this. We are told that the burning by a few Muslims of the Sabarmati Express coach carrying kar sevaks was the reason. But many believe that was just an excuse. Investigations led by the Centre concluded that the fire in the coach was accidental. However, regardless of the truth, can there be any justification for killing innocents en masse? In the minds that are touched by Harivansh Rai Bachchan, killing innocents is never right.
The Gujarat massacre of 2002 was not an act of war in which “collateral damage” of innocent lives occurred. Instead, it was a well-planned operation to systematically target, kill and destroy members of a particular community — the Muslims of Gujarat.
The subsequent speeches of Modi, spewing venom and hatred against Muslims, are on public record. Although Modi would like us to believe he is a Hindu, neither his ideology nor his actions fit our values or Hindu philosophy. Instead, his profile matches that of an extremist and a religious bigot. Noted social scientist Ashis Nandy, who had interviewed Modi long before he became the Chief Minister of Gujarat, had concluded that Modi was a textbook case of a fascist.
You have very effectively played the roles of JCP Dev Pratap Singh and Subhash Nagre — two diametrically opposite characters — one filled with humanity and the other totally devoid of it — for the silver screen. But bringing that change of characters in your real life would be a tragic mistake. A transformation from Dev to Sarkar, if and when complete, would change Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s legacy — from that of a Mahatma to Modi.
Historically, religions have killed more people than all other unnatural causes combined. In his epic poem Madhushala, Harivansh Rai Bachchan asks us to rise above the narrow definition of religions. However much fascists and fanatics dress sectarianism as patriotism, we know your father would never have approved the spilling of innocent blood.
At a time when in their pursuit of profit most business tycoons, including Ratan Tata, are disregarding Modi’s crimes against humanity, if not feigning ignorance about them, in your father’s footsteps you can choose to stand by declining Modi’s offer to be his brand ambassador. You can set an example and a Harivanshrai legacy — a legacy that he and the generations after us can be proud of.
Dale E Turner says: “We are born with our eyes closed and our mouths open and we spend our whole lives trying to reverse that mistake of nature.” Your father opened our eyes. Yours too. Zakiya Jafri and I pray they never close.

Dear Amitji,
Right decision not to attend filmfare awards, if they cant show simple courtesy to accept their mistake and apologize (in public..as you said they did in privately) then how can they expect you and your well wishers to attend their award function. I hope others also will participate in this fight, its not just about Aishwarya but about respecting women and their dignity..they should not get away with this, they have to APOLOGIZE..
Vinay

TO ALL EF,
Be prepared to see lot of anti-bachchan comment posting in this blog by Mumbai Mirror and Times group staffs and their associates…since now Mr.Amitabh Bachchan has taken legal action against them. They will show their angst in this blog. We as EF should be ready and counter them here too.
My Dear Amit Uncle,
It is a very very snowy day here in New Jersey. We are buried in more than 15 inches of snow. I am stuck here at work and cannot get out. My boss has ordered some Pizza for us. I am trying to eat my slice before it is all gone and read your blog at the same time. You are a man of values and strength and it is very commendable that you are supporting your family specifically Aishwarya; she is a lucky girl!
kUDOS to your family, a very wise decision. I would have loved to watch you receive accolades for Paa and of course Aishwarya perform. But, I am with you on boycotting the filmfare. My beloved mother always said “Empty vessels make much noise”. I never though much of it when I was a child. But, now that I think back that was the greatest lesson she could have taught me. I must say though through all this I am very much impressed by the way Aishwarya handled herself (Please tell her). She is strong woman with high values. Shame on you Mumbai Mirror for doing this to a woman.
Thank you for another wonderful post and I want a yellow line of love please!
Lots of love to you, Jaya aunty, Aishwarya and AB baby

Hi Amitji,
May have peace to the soul of Amar Singh’s brother in law.
Take care.
Dr Pravin P Patel.
Toronto originally from India the best.
Dear Mr. Amitabh Bachchan,
At this moment I am reminded of this verse in Sanskrit
“Asto ma sat gamaya
Tamso ma jyotir gamaya
Mrityo ma amritam gamaya”
May truth prevail, may truth win, may only and only truth be published!
Regards,
Indira
Very sorry to hear about Amar Singh ji’s brother in law, may his soul rest in eternal peace.
I discovered the unfortunate reason for the visit to Gujrat shortly after posting my last comment, hence my well wishes. Of course it’s a great concern that you have had to travel yet again and under such terribly sad circumstances. Emotional and physical fatigue combined is a perlious condition I would never wish on you…
But somehow, you have still encapsulated the wistfully majestic splendour of Deerd to perfection with your usual graceful eloquence. Thank you for sharing your surroundings with such beauty; although I would much rather you had opted for early slumber than forcing yourself beyond reasonable limitations and flaking out!! It satisfies nobody if we are beside ourselves with concern over your stupefied state and you are only writing to gratify us. The volume of travel you take on and its cumulative effect, is more hazardous to your wellbeing than any stunt could be! Even Prime Ministers and Presidents don’t embark on such folly, so regularly I am so surprised that you are expected to - added to the sundry stresses of your exsistence too. Please do take heed and look after yourself, for nobody else can force you to do that. I know I repeat myself, and I shall continue until you take positive action!
Purely wishing you a goodnight and sweet dreams for the moment, until I return home from work, as I am still en route. Please rest well my sweetest Mr Bachchan and I beseech you not to consider elaborating on the post on the morning! Just refresh, rejuvenate and be well.
Love & affection
Jasmine

Hello sir,
I like it.
I have been following your blogs lately, But today i created by blog account also.
Sad hear abt personnel attacks from Mumbai mirror and excellent response from you sir. And last but not least your quote ” Coins always make so much sound ; but the currency notes are always silent. So when the value increases, keep yourself calm and silent.” is awsome

Namaste Amitabh Ji,
Good luck for filmfare awards.
May you win best actor award for PAA.
Good wishes.
Dear Big B.,
Sorry to hear the news about the b.i.l. of Amar Singhji. May God be with the whole family & give them strength to cope up during this hard time. Very happy to hear the action your have taken against MM. You said it so well, if you have insulted or spoken lie in public private apology will not be accepted. Very proud of decision that Mr. Balki has taken. Please pass on our thanks & salute to him. Please let him know that your FmXt loves him and we all wish him success in everything he does. Proud to see that friends stand up at that level too…GOD BLESS HIM AND HIS FAMILY. Sirji, please don’t forget to convey our support & good wishes to him.
How is Shweta doing? My prayers are there for her speedy recovery…. Please let us know about her health.
Will write again…
Love U & your family as always but Abhishek a little more…
Your Ardent Fan #1 ~ Sunita
Thank you! That was beautiful. I love courtyards too - especially with a neem tree! I was happy to read that a Wise phrase from an unknown fan touched you enough to respond appropriately - Silence reflects so much dignity!
So sorry to hear that Pankaja-ji has lost her brother. My condolences to the family.
Your descriptions of the old buildings and customs make them sound so charming. But I would choose to stay in the modern world, thank you. It would be so lovely to see this in person but some parts I wish would only be for show as in the old village restorations we have here. Especially the widows and other women’s roles. I have used toothpastes with neem in them.I’m so sorry you had to be there under these sad circumstances.
Please get some sleep so you don’t flake out again.
We have been snow- flaking out here in NYC. I passed through Washington Square Park and had to doge snowballs. It was fun to see some great snowmen and other structures being built.
It’s good to see that you are taking legal action for a public apology and the message should be loud and clear when you and your family are boycotting the Filmfare awards.
I love that you ended on a happy note for us fans . Balki made the correct decision and an even better one that he will be making another film with you.
I hope you let us know the responses to ‘Teen Patti’ which I enjoyed so much.
Sleep well and hopefully you’ll know where you are when you wake up.
Love,
Rochelle

Dear Amitabhji,
Please pass my condolences to Amar Singhji and family.
Mumbai Mirror is so foolish. Why is it that they cannot realise that when they err, they have to apologize. It is a shame that this newspaper is being run by an editor and management that dont know what to do when they have done a wrong.
We as FmXt and sensible people are always with you.
Luv n regards

Great to hear your stand against Filmfare .. I am very proud of your brave step. As an actor its a very courageous to not acknowledge the awards!! Great .. good.
Hope Aishwarya is coping up fine with the false news splashed around. She hasnt said ne thing in media about it.
I like the silence rather than the apologize, apologize, apologize although I can see where you are coming from. Pleased to know you have sent a legal notice for whatever it is worth. They have to respond no matter what. Also support your stand on the Filmfare awards.
Best Wishes
Seema
Are u doing the publicity stunt yet again?

what goes around comes around . It is Aishwariya Karma , maybe she is not that niave after all.

Also very good that you sent MM a legal notice.
Sirji..first of all Condolences for Pankaja ji’s brother’s demise.
Its a very good decision you have taken as there was no other way to fix Mumbai Mirror. If they would have apologized publicly then there was no need of serving legal notice.
And a very well thought decision not to attend Filmfare award.
With love and warm regards,
Manoj Kumar Ojha
Dear Amitji,
Sorry to know of the sad demise in Amar Singhji’s family. May the departed soul rest in peace.
Your above post comes on the day much awaited Teen Patti is released. Surprisingly there is not a word on it in spite of the rave reviews by many critics, including Taran Adarsh. You have been especially applauded for your yet another great performance after Paa and Rann. Heartiest congratulations and best wishes for success of the film. Here is review of Teen Patti in today’s New York Times which I would like to share with you and the FmXt:

MOVIE REVIEW | ‘TEEN PATTI’
Taking a Gamble
By RACHEL SALTZ
When Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood’s perennial Mr. Big, gets a meaty role, he digs into it with such gusto that everyone around him starts to look a bit underfed.
In “Teen Patti” Mr. Bachchan has a grand time playing Venkat, an underappreciated math professor in Mumbai whose probability studies lead him to a gambler’s dream: winning at will in a game of chance, here the Indian card game teen patti.
Venkat is a purist, satisfied with cracking the code, but his students persuade him to put his theory to the test. Surprise: winning oodles of cash leads to disharmony, blackmail and worse.
The director of “Teen Patti,” Leena Yadav, can’t quite control Mr. Bachchan, which is good. Though he occasionally looks tired, his scenery chewing provides the movie with some of the heat that its card games fail to generate.
But Ms. Yadav, attempting something more than a typical Hindi movie, can’t quite control her story either. The students are broadly sketched (greed is their dominant trait) or one-note, making the revelations at the end dead on arrival.
And like many artists drawn to gambling themes, she can’t resist clunky philosophizing about life, chance and certainty. She even brings in Ben Kingsley, playing a magician and mathematician (they’re the same, he says), to give voice to some of her profundities.
Content aside, Mr. Kingsley and Mr. Bachchan’s scenes together have real charm. They’re like two old pros from different leagues tossing a ball around: loose, smooth, in no doubt of their power.
With regards
Tilak Rishi (USA)
Sir, my condolences to Amar Singh and family. I hope your friendship, family & friends can bring some comfort to all.

Hello Sir,
Kool I am waiting to read the newspaper of Mumbai Mirror & form the editor itself saying apologies to you.
Their Apology counts only if they admit in public.
They produced a Fake News on my Favourite Star’s Family(coz if AB hurt then I feel that hurt), they have to APOLOGISE in Public.
My heartfelt condolences to Pankaja wife of Amar Singhji on passing away of her brother Prithvisinhji. May Prithvisinhji’s soul rest in peace.
Dear Amitji.
Issues involving one or any of the family member are really perplexing and bothering. You did a right thing to make clear your displeasure. People of India are always with you and understand that these money minded, gossip hungry people can go to any extent so as to gain cheap and false publicity.
We have loved you since childhood. It is needless to say that I and my entire family, is a great fan of yours since childhood. It is impossible to identify your greatest fan. Rather I should say it is not a case of being a mere fan of yours. When I was young (I am 47 now) I treated you as my buddy and used to knot the shirt on my waist. Today when my father is not with me - I lost him 9 years ago - you resembles like him. I still don’t know what you are to me - a friend. a respected and loving elder brother, a father figure or GOD.
My entire family’s sincere wishes are with you and your entire family. Keep entertaining the world, keep creating the new milestones everyday and most importantly - keep good care of your health.
Love You - As Always
Arun Ratan

Good one sire jee. TOI/MM is trash. if the owner of TOI has good relationship with you, why do they allow below the belt made up stories to run their papers. Real friends if can’t help should not harm also. Despite all the negative coverage you and your family gets in press, people hold you in high ragards. they just want to use in their programs but always print nasty and derogatory made up stories about you and your family.
One more thing do not entertain their requests like aman ki asha/lead India even though you like the initiative or want to contribute. it’s like neki kar aur dariya main daal kind of world now a days. They might more nastier with skipping Filmfare awards but believe me indian medias reputation is at lowest right now.
God bless you.

Sir,
Wish you a very colorful, joyfull and memorable Holi.

Hi FmXt,
Thanks NARESH BHATT - London (Bachchan Is In My Blood) #28; & SONAL & SIMRAN #38 for your kind wishes in advance. It means a lot to me. Once again a heart felt THANK YOU & God bless you all. Another thing NARESHji, I love to read every time next to your name — (Bachchan Is In My Blood). I wish Devi Saraswati had come & given me that idea/sentence before but any way very, very proud that you have it.
JASMINE J. –COMMENT #43– You comment was so well written. Loved reading it. I wish I could write & express the way you do. God bless you.

RINA COMMENT # 16 — You are one of the earliest once to come and post your comments i.e. you are waiting for Big B.’s new posts. And after that such harsh words, why? Don’t torcher or punish yourself by coming on this blog. None of us are forcing you to come & write such cheap stuff. Maintain some dignity, please. God bless you and please enjoy the filmfare.
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
some of the fmXt’s don’t know exactly, what is written in the poem beside your picture at the top of the first blog page… These words are important for you, maybe they are from your father?
Please translate them for us Sir, it would be very helpful….
With love

Be Your Father’s Son
YOU NEED TO APOLOGISE TO THE NATION FOR PRAISING FASCISTS ON YOUR BLOG. WHEN YOUR DAUGHTER-IN-LAW’S PRIVACY IS OUTRAGED, YOU RISE UP TO THE EPIC-CAUSE, WHAT ABOUT THE WOMEN WHO WERE DRAGGED AND MASS IN THE MOST SHAMEFUL MANNER ? YOUR DAUGHTER SLIPS AND FALLS IN HER PLUSH HOUSE, IT PAINS YOU. THINK OF THE HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN WHO WERE BURNT AND HACKED TO DEATH, RENDERED ORPHANS BY THE ONE WHOM YOU PRAISED ON YOUR BLOG. YOU NEED TO APOLOGISE TO THE NATION FOR YOUR PRAISING THE ONES WHO ARE THE BRAINS BEHIND SUCH HEINOUS CRIMES.
I HOPE YOUR STUPID BLIND FANS OPEN UP THEIR EYES AND DEMAND YOU AN APOLOGY.
I AM NOT A MUSLIM. ONLY A SIMPLE POWERLESS HUMAN BEING WHO GETS DISTURBED WHEN A HER MOST FAVORITE HERO ON THE REEL ACTS WORST THAN A CUNNING POLITICIAN/BUSINESSMAN IN REAL.
MR.BACHCHAN, APOLOGISE. YOU ARE GOING TO PREFER TO IGNORE THIS MAIL, AS YOU ALWAYS DO. YOU MAY EVEN LIKE TO THINK THIS IS A COUNTER-ACT BY THE NEWSPAPER EDITOR WHO YOU WANT TO APOLOGISE YOU AND YOUR ELITE FAMILY. I AM GLAD DR. HARIVANHSRAI BACHCHAN IS NOT THERE TO SEE HIS OWN OFFSPRING TREADING THE EVIL PATH WHICH HE SO CONDEMNED.
Hello Amitji,
Second visit in Gujarat my birth place and you refresh my memory too with NIMB TREE which also planted in my house in Ahmedabad. Now in Canada I missed those enviornment.
Yes, you did exactly right. Bycott them untill Mumbai Mirror published public apology.
With best regards and Please take a vacation.

Try to contemplate on what Mallika Sarabhai has said in the open letter to you. By visiting a feudal lord’s regressive family you don’t prove your qualifications for being an ambassador of an impoverished state in exchange of you know what. i have always appreciated you, though less than your father, would like to harbor the same respectful feelings for you, provided you retract from endorsing the modern day fascists.
Dear DON,
Amar singh is ur great friend and we pray for his family,Teen Patti opened very well and hope to continue.
Hello Sir,
You have made the Fmxt proud…let the TOI Management get it right …as you rightly said..”Abuse in Public & Apology in Private”…plz continue the boycott till the apology is delivered…You were & still are a Superstar INSPITE of the media…Thru the 1970’s & 1980’s they (media) boycotted you but we the people stuck with you & will do so now and ever
Hats off for the stand..You forced the Swede Daily to apologize..TOI it’s time !!
Regds
Amit
Sincere condolences to Panakaji & her entire family.
Hope you have a peaceful rest. Take Care.
Much Love & Respect

ps:Was watching “Yaarana” on Sony Max today. In the little “Not Known” points in between, it was said that you were so excited to shoot the lift scene and you spoke your dialogues so fast
Then when the time came for dubbing you were not able to match the speed! They therefore had no option but to keep the original dialogues for the movie! Just love the point…. makes you more like us!:)
Read Mr Najid Hussain letter in this blog …. Why is he so impatient in passing judgement on Mr Modi ….Does he not believe in courts and rule of law ? Has Mr Modi been proved guilty ?
Even before the courts have decided , he with a help of an already prejudiced section of media is passsing judgement on a person who has single handedly proved to be the best administrator India ever had …
If Modi is guilty he will be punished by the courts based on evidence …. but why this propoganda , this hate , this pressure on AB to back-off on something which he voluntarily agreed to in good faith …. After all he is just promoting Gujarat, a state miles ahead of the rest when it comes to caring for its citizens !!
BTW your moderator is averse to publishing anything which even slightly pro-Modi … two of my earlier messages were not published and doubt whether this one will be either … Doesn’t bother me though .. I did make my point.
If by any chance you moderate your medium yourself .. or feel similar to your moderator … my advise .. please donot promote Gujarat ….as you donot seem comfortable/ totally at ease with the idea of promoting that state and endorsing its leader’s governance !!
Dear Mr Bachchan,
Bit surprised you didn’t mention anything about your new release Teen Patti in the blog today. Lets hope the film does well and all is well ..
Arun
Mr B… we, the BigB Yahoo Group, salute you for the stand you’ve taken… and are proud that you have stood up for your right. You have our support all the way.
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/bigb/
love you sunshine, going to see teen patti soon.
## Dear RR.. Your diatribe is not worth responding to but still..Its not that Mr Bachchan has taken a stand on promoting Mr Modi’s government or Mr Modi himself..All Mr Bachchan has volunteered to is to help in attracting tourism to under-developed areas in the State of Gujarat…Mr Bachchan isn’t promoting the Gujarat Secretariat or the Gujarat BJP’S Office…When different countries go out on a limb to promote their country, what’s the harm if India’s most famous citizen promotes one of his country’s own state
Sir,
We read about the article in local newspapers of Goa, but nobody had mentioned the name of the newspaper. So, i was under impression that the article was published in local district unknown newspaper somewhere far corner of this country. And this kind of news publishing is their routine practice.
But, yesterday when i visited this blog i shocked. myself and my wife read entire episode 3-4 times. (all last 6 days). there are no words to express.
Every woman’s first dream is to be an mother. and Mumbai Mirror had raised the question mark on the same ability. I tried to feel what happened to Mrs Aishwarya when she read this article. this is beyond imagination as a man. but, when my wife — Alka — read all this article, the way she respond told me everything. In our culture, our society, even if any aged woman who never able to be an mother for any reason, we never speaks loudly in public.
And Mrs Aishwarya is young, your family priorities might be different. Might be she is having tight schedule of shooting. it’s ok. One must understand. And above all, this is not an public interest issue. This is family issue. No one have right to discuss in public.
As I know TOI is now become totally moneymaker. their total focus is the contents should be either moneymaker or publicity. they never thought about public interest. Forget about individual interest.
Once upon a time, i was working with an newspaper for a long period, so i know, how journalist who write the article against anybody, never apologize. He always tries level best to prove that how he is right. And if you file defamation case, it’s take years to clear. And people memory is very short. So everybody will forget about how the article hurt concerned person.
Thanks to this internet media and this blog. where you able express your views unedited, without manipulation. Without this media you never ever able to express your true views in front of people and people never understand.
Once again thanks to this platform, only this is the source remain where any human being can express his true views and thoughts.
One warning or suggestion: Now, henceforth every newspaper will think 10000 times before publishing anything against you. At the same time, they will not loose single chance to publish your, your family member’s single minor mistake, particularly, TOI group.
My entire family is with you, and particularly to Mrs Aishwarya, Bhagwan tere saath hain!
Opposite side of that article: To Mrs, Aishwarya, If you really worried about pregnancy, God had sent the message thru that writer that VERY SOON WE WILL HEAR GOOD NEWS FROM YOU!
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
It is indeed sad that the Mumbai Mirror did not make amends for its irresponsible article published in its paper.
The legal notice has been served on the tabloid for retraction of the false report and tendering an apology for their indiscretion.
This appears to be just a mild action and may not yield desired results.
As regards boycott of ”Filmfare” Awards function by the entire Bachchan family, the decision is taken more out of compulsion than any other reason. Under no circumstances Aishwarya could have performed at the function of the organisation whose publication had slighted her .
Under the circumstances it is the CORRECT DECISION.It is a great disappointment for your fans and admirers but they back you upto the hilt.
I would appeal to the entire film industry to boycott the awards ceremony and rally behind you when Bachchan family’s honour and dignity is at stake.
FILM FOLKS ,TODAY THEY HAVE TARGETED BACHCHAN FAMILY TOMORROW IT MAY BE YOUR TURN. STAND UNITED .DO NOT ATTEND THE ‘FILMFARE FUNCTION IF THE MUMBAI MIRROR DOES NOT PUBLISH AN APOLOGY FOR THEIR SLANDEROUS ARTICLE.
Amitji it is sad to hear that Amar Singh ji’s wife, Pankaja ji’s brother has passed away.
It is always sad when someone passes away. My due respect to the Pankaja ji’s family.
Yes I also was wondering what was happening with the apology.
I am now very pleased that your lawyers have indeed picked up where you left.
Great work.
Do not let it go, as the Bachchan family deserves the apology in the same way the accusations were made.
Regards to you and the Bachchan Family.
Dharmen
My dear AB,
Please convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
You have rendered a beautiful portraiture of your travel to “Deerd” town. I have always been fascinated by the grandeur and magnificence of old cities. The ancestral mansions (havelis) are style’s quintessence in home architecture. The beautiful carving works on the stone, the casements (jharokhas), the latticed windows, the arched entrances are just enchanting. But as you aptly said, the courtyards form the most picturesque part of the haveli face. They marvel in the beauty that lies in them and not merely in beholder’s eyes. The more you look at them the more joy you get out of the view. It is a beauty for ever, eternal and irreplaceable. No doubt, these architectures are priceless treasures of heritage.
I missed the opportunity to watch “Teen Patti” tonight because of my exhaustive travel on M40 (on a Friday evening..it gets horrendous!!!). The reviews look very promising. I couldn’t resist sharing some of junior AB’s tweets here with my fellow FmXts about your performance in the film:
juniorbachchan: “TEEN PATTI also releases today. can’t wait to see what BIG B has in store for us this time round. still getting over his performance in RANN”
juniorbachchan: “ He’s a 68 yr old giving this current generation a run for their money. Highly doubt any of us will be able to do the same at his age.”
juniorbachchan: “He’s just this force that has become unstoppable!!! shocks you with every new performance. FULL POWER TO YOU PA!”
Do I need to say more???
Thank you for always connecting with us, despite your turbulent routine. Enjoy a comforting night under your soft pillows.
Love you sooooooo much and a little more
dearest AB ji,
You are the best friend & family, your are present even to share the sad occasions. God bless you & give you all strength.
You never give up, the media should know well if they have done their homework.
Take care, have good rest and have a better day.
Lots of love & respect,
Susheela - TN USA
Dear Amit ji:
We wish Shri Amar Singh ji’s family our best wishes.

******************* WE SALUTE YOU MR. BACHCHAN ****************************
Actually, I wanted this to happen from long time.
You are beyond every Awards.
Your decision of banning the awards is totally justified.
In fact, I want to boycott these awards for good.
Thanks
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
I hope that your decision of not attending the filmfare awards gives them some sense.
Departure of somebody is always painful. May his soul rest in peace.
Take care.

Sorry to hear about Pankaja ji’s brother loss. My heart felt condolences to Amar Singh ji, Pankaja ji and the family. May Lord provide them enough courage to face the loss at this difficult time.
Furnishing the Lawyer’s notice is the right action at this time and I hope that MM comes back on their knees with an Public Apology to calm down the aggravation on your family’s front. Refraining from Filmfare activity is also the right decision , I guess it was done because TimesofIndia published the same news without doing any investigation for the truth ness of it. I hope the same that they come out with a public apology.
By the way I shall repeat again that the donation money by MM to TB research institute shall be at least 2.1 Crores for the first five years and 51 Lacs for next five yrs if they settle down without going to court otherwise at least 10 Crores should be suing amount. Damn it!!!!
So nice on Balki’s front for joining all you guys on board for the same cause. You have all right to show your grievance. And let’s see what comes next as your bucket of any future releases is kind of empty with today’s release of ‘Teen Patti’. That means we shall have to wait at least later part of this year for seeing newer movies. Well ! I have no problem with that as we will be relishing all the events, narrations by you during the time of production as well, so it is a WIN-WIN situation for your FmXt.
Well wishing you a ‘Good Morning’ from the land approaching soon to dusk….
And off course
Lots of love without any doubt
Dear Amitji,
Firstly, my condolence to the loss of Amar Singhji’s brother in law, surely your support and affection will bring some peace to his family.
Secondly, your picturasation of a rural town through your eyes and it’s structures and the verification of it’s culture was a treat to read.
Finally, your decision to take legal step against the tabloid, Mumbai Mirror, is in my opinion the only way to show your hurt and anger against them, having waited, patiently, for so long for them to apologise publicly. I also believe if they, the management of TOI Group which represents the Filmfare Awards really valued you or your friendship and or association then they would have ensured your and your families presence at the function. They could have resolved this mater immediately upon your notice of non attendance. But it seems that they have decided to maintain their silence and not apologise at the cost of the whole Bachchan family not being at the function!!! Shame on them. Our support will continue to remain with you at all times. In addition, hats of to R Balkiji, a only true friend of your family to demonstrate his support towards you and your family against MM and it’s group.
Take care and best wishes for Teen Patti, may it be a commercial success for all involved.
Manish
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Good luck with the lawsuit against MM. Hopefully your action will set a precedent where news magazines will be accountable for what they write .They will think twice before printing falsehoods and fictional stories . I support your decision to boycott the Filmfare Awards unless there is a public apology and retraction.
Take care , be well and get some sleep.
Well Done for not going to FF awards but do you think now they will change the winner’s list to make the show still entertaining.
MM shame, shame. They only have respect for the law. Hope the law backs you all the way AB.
In few minutes Men’s Hockey Semi Final at Vancouver Olympics 2010 is about to start. I wish them all the good luck. Go Canada Go.
It is about time to be glued to TV screen with my kids and cheer up loud….
Go Canada Go…….
Go Canada Go…….
Go Canada Go…….

Amit ji, My deep condolences to the family of Amar singh ji and Pankaja singh ji on her brother’s demise. May his soul rest in peace.
I am very sorry to hear about Panka ji’s brother. Please accept my condolences and prayers for his soul to rest in peace. It is at times like this that you don’t think for a moment about what you are doing and drop all the things you are occupied with to be with the bereaved. It is the collective presence of support from close people that becomes the strength and comfort for the bereaved..
Your eloquent descriptions of ancestral home of Panka ji in Deerd, , of the condolence gathering and the neem tree in the courtyard has brought the whole scene to life.
You have been busy traveling from one place to another and with the recent events, I don’t blame you one bit if you are feeling somewhat disorientated. I hope you will get much needed rest and sleep.
From what you have said about boycotting Filmfare awards, it would appear that Filmfare is part of the TOI group. In the old days I think the name Manekchand was associated with Filmfare awards. I had not realised that TOI was connected with Filmfare.
Another project with Balki sounds like an exciting move and one I can’t wait to hear more about.
Wishing you a good rest and sleep.
Rajesh

Hmmmmmmm, glad to hear about your action regarding MM and not attending their award function. Hopefully there will be a public apology and some money towards a cause.
Dear Amitji,
Boycotting the Film Fare award and serving NOTICE to MUMBAI MIRROR is a very good move. The jurnalists and media must learn some lessons. They think that they are the God.. Boycotting of Film Fare is a welcome step. Though Film Fare is the oldest Award for Indian film industry off late it has been terribly biased towards some group of people. Also last time there were a big controversy…GOOD LUCK and ALL THE BEST.
Regards,
Shesa
Isn’t Teen Pati a remake of Hollywood movie 21? I am a big fan of you Mr. Amit ji but I think you should encourage new and original screen writers rather than doing movies that are actually remakes of Hollywood films.
Wonderfull Message….
Dear Mr Bachchan
Condolences to Amar Singh and his wife and her family, and as ever you have shown your brotherly support in the time of mourning. And thank you for such evocative writing about the visit and ceremonies and the beauty of the ancestral home.
Neem is indeed a wonderful gift of nature, for all the reasons you describe. I understand it is also a powerful pesticide and could be used instead of many of the harsh and toxic chemicals currently employed by farmers.
I hugely admire your principled stand against the Filmfare Awards and your strong legal action against the Mumbai Mirror. And Balki’s support of the Filmfare boycott is admirable too, and just what would be expected from such an idealistic and intelligent member of your fraternity.
I am truly delighted you are discussing future projects with him. As you say, the timing could not be more perfect. Paa has already captured hearts, minds and endless glory, the Filmfares are just another staging post on its triumphal progress through the awards season, and I love the thought that far from the madding fanfare you are already plotting what - god willing - could be an even greater film.
With love from Daisy
My condolences to Amar Singhji and his loved ones on the loss of his brother-in-law.
I am soooo glad to hear you slapped Mumbai Mirror with a legal notice…good on you all for boycotting Filmfare. That’s the way to do it, Mr B..! Hit them where it hurts… All four Bachchans absent from Filmfare… Ouch!!
I would have loved to have seen you on stage collecting yet another best actor award for Paa, but I am proud that you are taking a stand, and will stand by you all the way…let’s turn up the pressure…!

Terrific review in New York Times. I have never seen New York Times praise a bollywood actor like this - they rarely praise the acting in bollywood movies:
This is what New York Times has to say about Mr. Bachchan :
” When Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood’s perennial Mr. Big, gets a meaty role, he digs into it with such gusto that everyone around him starts to look a bit underfed ”
” The director of “Teen Patti,” Leena Yadav, can’t quite control Mr. Bachchan, which is good. Though he occasionally looks tired, his scenery chewing provides the movie with some of the heat that its card games fail to generate ”
” Content aside, Mr. Kingsley and Mr. Bachchan’s scenes together have real charm. They’re like two old pros from different leagues tossing a ball around: loose, smooth, in no doubt of their power ”
BTW, They liked Abhishek better than Amitabh in Paa

Dear Mr.Bachchan,
My mom is a very big fan of yours.
She reads your blog everyday, but has never written on your blog. Now, I have started to have more knowledge about you from my mom. I hardly watch Hindi movies, but I saw your movie, Paa, it was amazing.

u can go on with lawyers and filmfare boycott–but it matters little
I hope you are having a pleasant night with pleasant dreams.
Since my comment containing my reaction to ‘Teen Patti’ was almost the last one at the bottom of DAY 675, I decided to copy it onto this day in case you missed it:
I just saw Teen Patti and Bravo for another career performance! I join in the standing ovation for your emotional and heart wrenching speech. As usual you controlled my heart and emotions with your brilliance. I loved the scenes with Ben Kingsley-2 masters of the screen together. What a treat. It was also good to see Ajay Devgan with you in one scene. Congratulations to the rest of the cast and the crew for making such a special film.
I hope this becomes the big hit which it deserves to be. I won’t be able to think of anything else today.
And everyone be sure to stay for the closing credits!!!

Only you could illustrate a portrait of a death ritual and still make me believe it’s the most breathtakingly exquisite moment in the world.
I actually adore observing feudal ceremonies. The majestic splendour and the air of royal reverence bequeathed to the departed, must provide deep comfort for the mourners who are grappling in the shadows of their bereavement. Such orderly, old world practises including the pious act of bereaved souls harmonizing in prayer, is certainly a beautiful conduit to gaining strength and succour during otherwise devastating times. My sincere condolences and prayers for those loved ones in mourning today.
You always have a meticulous eye for absorbing beautiful ‘olde worlde’ architecture too: from the ornately embellished churches in Paris, or the intricately carved ancient temples you visited in Singapore; now to this Fort like stately home and its grand courtyard. All every inch as evocative as its historic beauty suggests. I agree, monumental castle doors encased in tall solid walls, leading to the central courtyard is a spine tingling sight and lends the character to the façade of the building. Ancient heritage sights are the treasures of any nation and should be prized and preserved accordingly. They are also a playground for the imagination to conjure fantasies of princes and princesses in ancient love stories of lore. Perhaps, this is an ideal location for you and Balki to consider for a future film!
Having discovered the correlation between Filmfare and the Mumbai Mirror; I now grasp the significance of the embargo and sadly agree it’s the only credible stance to assume, if your request is to be dealt with seriously.
As much it worries me to think of you battling rigorous legalities; I am delighted you have opted to the take to legal route. I realise you had reservations, but whether it takes two hours or twenty years to see justice, it must served if only to act as a deterrent for other media bodies to reform their unethical procedures. The conduct is simply despicable, even these covert personal apologies from the management are utterly Machiavellian on the scale of this scenario! Isn’t it ironic that NDTV were celebrating the growth and importance of Indian media at the ceremony only the other night. How deeply regretful that ‘isolated tabloids’ mar this otherwise decent reputation.
More rapturous still, at the thought of Balki and his brainchild Auro conceiving another benchmark breaking masterpiece. I just know you will both relish the opportunity to exchange creative ideas and get those juices flowing again; rather than enduring yet another staid ceremony.
But for the moment, total rest is best for my lovely but very travel weary and bewildered Mr Bachchan. Yes ridiculously, sleeping on the same day you woke up seems to be unheard of for you….don’t just joke about it… turn the AM back to PM, please!
I shall return to venerate the multifarious wonders of Neem, which I use religiously, in the morn….
Sweet dreams through slumberland.
Love & more,
Jasmine
xx
I fully support Aishwarya’s decision NOT to perform at Filmfare!! GREAT GOING. And very pleased you are not letting Mumbai Mirror get away with what they wrote.
Dear Amitji, Good Morning. My sincere condolensces to Mr Amar Singhji’s family on the bereavement. Your trip to Deerd short yet poignant reliving our old value system of era gone by. The neem tree you describe gives that much needed shade besides its medicinal help for good health and that brushing of yore years.
A fully grown tree that has lasted many decades is a mute spectator to the many happenings in a large family. There are happy moments and sad moments. The tree contributes its soothing shade in all. I remember neem tree in my old house when we were in school. The gum made from it was also essential part of our art work done and stuck in those days. The simple cardboard house we all made in first standard. The first dream house ever which probably sowed the seeds of imagination to own a house in future.
The silence is also part of wait and weight I mentined last night.
I am up early may be a bit of excitement of a long travel to place close to heart but never seen. Dwarkaji and then to Somnath. My kind hosts famous for their Gujarati hospitality find ways of saying a big thank you. But I must admit in life it is always a mutual affirmation that good gets good. The converse only media understands.
Your many a past contributions to Times group as you mentioned here also makes a heavy heart reading when someone insensitive makes many things irrelevent. Not attending Filmfare awards must have weighed on your mind so also minds of amny including Balki. I never say a decision is right or wrong but standing by own conviction is certainly the right thing. Public slander cannot have a private burial.
Wish you a very eventful day with balki. Remember when all are celebrating it may be the right time to think of a next project. A very apt and philosophical expression of moving on with work and more work. A product speaks loudest and clearest. All other does not matter.
I appreciate better traffic sense and clean roads in this city of Rajkot. Quality of life and living coupled with enterprise and quest for excellence at low cost.
My regards to those who value traditions and convey respect. A respectful heart bends the body involuntarily and hands too join as you rightly observed above. Heads bow when we show respect.

amitji–how old was brother? how he died?Amar Singh ji’s wife, Pankaja ji has lost her brother
Hello Amitabh,
Sorry about the loss of the brother of your friend’s wife. You have as usual described the sombre and sad moment with so much eloquence, and sitting here reading about it made the moment and the ambience loom large and real. The description of Deerd and the ancestral home was like something out of a forgotten past. Thanks for sharing with your heart. I wonder when the day will come when I can travel around India at leisure?
I cannot understand why it is so hard for MM to make the public apology? You are true to yourself and have stood by your principles and beliefs. If MM doesn’t know you by now, they better begin to!!
Most of all it’s great when we can see the humour in you peek at us every now and then!! Hope all your days are filled with happy smiles!
Good night!

Hello Amitji,
I don’t know how to manage to keep yourself available everywhere at this age.
Truly you are a living legend.
My condolences to Amar Singhji’s wife.
Regarding the apology from Mumbai Mirror, I agree it has to be in public.
Take care of your health.
Your Pankha
Sonna from USA.
Oh, the neverending pleasures I find in my computer at a certain time of day (more or less) - coming across a new DAY.
Pleasure tinged with sadness sometimes - today I send my condolences to Amar Singh’s wife’s family.
Pleasure tinged with satisfaction - you gave MM time enough to apologize; kudos for your decision to sue and boycott. Wishing you success and satisfaction with all my heart.
Pleasure tinged with anticipation - new movie with Balki, oh please let us know all about it.
And the sheer pleasure of your narrations, whether you tell us a story of your past or, as today, take us on a tour of a magical place, an oasis of tradition and beauty in our hectic world.
Not to mention your philosophical musings, for me the greatest pleasure of all.
So I am saying one of the most used words in my country of residence, USA - Anil ek Aam Hindustani, you are so right about that - but one for which I have not found a substitute yet: Thank you, Mr. AB, thank you for giving us all this, every day without fail, no matter how busy and tired you are.
But guys, have you noticed? Here in this special place it’s another word that is most used:
LOVE,
Renate
Hi Amitji,
Your description of your visit to Deerd was so good that it feels as if we have all been there with you! The Angan, a part of all Indian homes, is truly the favourite place in the house for most of us.
I am happy to note that you have not softened your stand on MUMBAI MIRROR and have filed a legal notice too! Though the Filmfare awards will not be the same without you and Jayaji and Abhishek and Aishwarya, the boycotting of the function was necessary. Hope good sense prevails and the apology is rendered publicly in the newspaper. I can never understand why it is so difficult for people to accept their mistake and apologise. Ego issues or callousness??
Balki is going to come up with something interesting again! Whaoh!
Regards and Love,
Shubha
My condolences to Amarsinghji and Pankajaji.

AmitJI….
So many emotions are going through my head right now.
I just was with you the other day, i still havent absorbed it.
I hugged you and spent time talking to you. On a later date i will explain why it was an act. Act because were you to see the real me…it would have embarrassed you. My Beloved in front of me and I be just normal? Sorry Sir…I controlled my emotions the bet I could. The emotions dropped from my eyes later, after you had left.
Ill stop there as I wont be doing my love justice.
What I wanted to talk about is these Mumbai Mirror people. I try so hard to contain my language in the respect mode but it can prove to be a difficult task. We are with you Sir….I hope you know this.
When we were taking the Group photo i was standing next to you and I said this at that time too…WE ARE WITH YOU.
I love you AmitJi….we all are with you. Carry on the fight…we will never let you fail or fall.
Ibby
My Dear Mr Bachchan
How are you and your family? hope you are all doing fine.
I am sorry to hear of the passing of Amar singh ji’s wife brother .My condolences to the entire family…i pray, may his soul rest in peace.
Its always an extra delight reading when you write about the places you travel to.Gujarat/Deerd is no exception.Like some of the FmXt I too loved the very clear description of the ‘angan’ and tradition of the people there. Also, good that you touched on the ‘Majestic’ evergreen neem tree.In this little Island of Nevis where i am residing, there are lots of neem trees and the locals here never knew the value until they saw us (people of Indian origin)using it for medicine, etc. And now they are doing all the research they can find on it.One of the thing they have learnt about neem is that instead of using chemical it is good to spray on plants to keep off insects.
Thank you for sharing that very sensible quote.
I completely agree with you,”you cannot abuse me in public and then come and say sorry to me in private”.For too long some of the media have been taking advantage of you and your family members.I think you have taken the right track of serving Mumbai Mirror the lawyers notice since they are playing it hard. Also, you all are absolutely right not to attend and take part in filmfare event.
I can assure you we FmXt are going to ride out these rough waves with you.
May you have a good day
May God always bless and protect you, your wonderful family and all dear FmXt
My sincere love always….

MOVIE REVIEW OF TEEN PATTI, IN WASHINGTON POST
Sir Ben Kingsley has never been one to turn down a job, which is why his recent résumé includes everything from the current No. 1 movie in America, “Shutter Island,” to a role as a villainous vampire daddy in the 2005 schlockfest “Bloodrayne.” His heroic willingness to cash anyone’s check might explain why Kingsley, playing a Cambridge professor, phones in a handful of scenes in the overwrought, overlong, totally bonkers Bollywood thriller “Teen Patti.”
Kingsley is paired with one of the great classic stars of the Indian screen, Amitabh Bachchan, who brings such commitment and gravitas to the lead role of Venkat, a tortured Mumbai mathematician, that you almost think he doesn’t know how ridiculous his movie is.
In “Teen Patti,” Venkat’s theories allow him to master the titular card game, essentially a three-card version of poker. (One of the movie’s laughable conceits is that only genius-level math can decode a game that’s about as complex as Go Fish.) Along with another professor and a group of money-hungry students, Venkat makes millions in high-rolling games of teen patti. But he’s being blackmailed! And someone dies! And he’s feeling tortured about his perfect theorem, whatever it is, being used for ill-gotten gains!
Area Bollywood fans may enjoy “Teen Patti,” although it plays like an unholy mishmash of “A Beautiful Mind” and the far superior thrillers of Michael Mann, whose style director Lena Yadav tries to imitate. But at least there’s Bachchan, who demonstrates — with his pompadour, his too-stylish glasses, and his habit of barking! every! word! — that he’s the subcontinent’s answer to Al Pacino. But unlike Bachchan, Pacino has never been forced to prance through a Gaga-on-the-cheap music video during his movie’s closing credits — more’s the pity.

A solemn occasion and a solemn mail….sad
Still, the courtyard and the neem are lovable. I still design my buildings around courtyards wherever feasible ( hopitals, offices, academic institutes) , and the modern modified version : the atrium in case of environmentally controlled buildings ( mega rail terminal ). Courtyards were and still are a good concept from climatic , utilitatrian, social and aesthetic considerations. And the neem… a special invite to you… this monsoon do visit Delhi to appreciate the beauty of the neem tree drenched in rain… it can beat any beauty….only one has to have the eye and the frame of mind to appreciate that.
About MM, your action is timely. Regarding your abstaining from the Filmfare awards…yes, you are right…. you cannot abuse in public and apologise in private….I hold the same theory.
Look forward to hear more from you. Bye for now. have a great day…and with all the love and adulation from all the FMXT
Hi Mr. Bachchan
I believe its a good decision not to participate in Filmfare awards, a fitting reply to them.

Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
My condolences to Amar Singh ji’s family on the loss his wife’s brother. And a prayer …
As always your entry is so well written it’s easy to visualize the ceremony and this glimpse into a different world of feudal ways of life that still exists and flourishes in contemporary India in Deerd , Gujarat. It is sad to take a look at the inhabitants of this little world in the hour of their mourning of the dead… But their world gives the impression of security, warmth and beauty that is present in people of tradition, old architecture and old trees … It has a soul …
The cozy ‘angan’ lit by the bright and hot sun and shaded by a big ‘neem’ tree - sounds so nice …
And am an happy for you to be able to pay a visit to such a place …

Good to hear that the legal notice has been delivered to the editor of Mumbai Mirror for retraction and public apology - I did think that you would take care of it and I completely support you on that ! Also on your family not going to Filmfare Awards and Aishwarya not performing ..
These ungrateful people , who hurt your family have to get some perspective and appropriate response as a consequence of their deeds !! May it sober them up and teaches them to respect human beings and talented artists !
And great news on Balki : ) ! I hope and wish to see your next film together very much !! Let it be …

May you have a beautiful day and may God bless you and yours..
Much love to you.

FmXt visit with Mr. Bachchan the other day, I was taken by your beautiful smile.
Now, I’m taken by your beautiful spirit. Thank you for sharing such personal thoughts and feelings. I feel honoured.
Dear Lion King,
My condolences to Mr Amar Singh’s family.
My congratulations on the decsion taken to boycott the awards and heartier congratulations regarding the legal notice you have sent the office.Only somebody of your stature is capable of taking extraordinary decisions during ordinary times. My respect for you has increased a hundred folds. You repeatedly demonstrate what it means to well and truly be the head of the family.Undoubtedly Balki’s decision is as commendable. I love you too Balki Anna!
Your description of the proceedings at the funeral is exquisite and your observations are remarkable. I do feel a bit guilty that I enjoyed the descriptive narration at this hour though. You have captured the happennings of any rural India’s “aangan” during sorrowful occassions in a melancholic and effective fashion. Despite the sombre setting, the neem tree and the bright sun’s radiance light up the mood. Your eye for detail is exquisite - “Widows wear a black sari with a bright red border running right through it on the edge”. This is what makes you, you. Anyone else would not have observed these things or even bothered speaking about it. Observation of simplicity is a virtue.
What can AB not do?, a friend once asked about you after watching PAA. There is no answer to that question I said.

Hello Amitji,
Glad to hear that you finally sued MM (That was my first response when I read about this). Also boycotting the Filmfare award is good thing. I hate Filmfare awards anyways. They didn’t give you for Deewar which was insane. There is no actor in world (NO ONE….) who can play Vijay of Deewar as Amitabh did.
Anyways, we are with you on this and I think if you and your family not attending the awards will put more pressure on them to apologies.
It’s war against trash tabloids. I hope they will learn the lesson.
I am excited about new project with Balki. He is very innovative director.
Please work with talented directors. I want to see films like Paa and Black like films.
You are such a talent. You are the pride of India.
Thanks,
PJ

I find myself in the same category as far as liking of angan is concerned.. I find myself equally comfortable with you attending the Deerd ceremony of B-i-L of Mr Amar Singh.. one must call upon one’s close ones in their bad times is a true Indian characteristic.. no, no I never doubted your Indianity ever it only got fortified further..
We must take ourselves to the ways suited to us while protesting against the ills inflicted upon us.. the stand to boycott the Filmfare awards goes well with me.. I would only request though that don’t dissociate with the Aman ki Asha by Times and Jung.. certain events will always be more important and above al else.. this Aman ki Asha has raised hopes with you as one of the greatest brand ambassador.. if ever you decide to go to Pakistan for that cause.. may I request you to take me along.. no,no, you need not have to pay any personal attention to my presence nor shall I disturb you in any way.. it s just a secret desire to visit Pakistan the one like my ambition to work for UN.. it is all right if it does not come across..
Hazaaron Khwahishen aisi ki har khwahish pe dam nikale..
Bahut nikale mere armaan lekin phir bhi kam nikale…
Oh that reminds me that it would not be such a bad idea of you reciting Chacha Ghalib sometimes.. My personal few favourites are listed here..
1. Bazeexha e-atfal hai duniya mere aage
2. Hazaaro Khwhishen aisi..
3. Yeh na thee hamari kismat ki visaale e yaar hota
4. Sab kahan kuchh lala-o- gul mein numaya ho gaiin
5. Phir mujhe deeda-e-tar yaad aaya
OK.. Mirza Ghalib had much more and some of it is beyond my comprehension for the lack of chaste Urdu used by the shayar.. no, no, it does not mean that I do not like them.. in fact do not really understand all the above either in complete sense of knowing the meanings entirely..
I must add here that the other hidden desire on my mind is to meet Javed Miandad and Imran Khan.. I would also like to visit Lahore university where lot of our great freedom fighters must have studied.. I am also told that some parts of Pakistan are as good as what good can mean to be.. I would also not mind going to interact with young students of teh region.. I know young children in the age groups of 12 to 16 are my weakness they are the buds of the nation that must be nurtured as carefully as we would like them to be as they grow up..
Chalo bhaai.. chhutti hai to kya hua.. ab mai apka dimaag khana band karata hoon.. agar kal aapne kah diya ki chalo boriya bistar baandho him log Lahore jaa rahe hain to mere paas to passport bhi nahi hai.. ye to anti-climaxho gaya bhaai..

For AB,
In almost two years of the blog, you have taken us through birthdays, deaths, anniversaries, ceremonies, memoirs and every occasion that we commonly use for measuring our time.
Yet one of those always makes me stop for a moment and wonder - those are occasions of death.
In one of the interviews with Omar Qureshi on a channel, while speaking about Teen Patti, you mentioned your own death so casually as if it was going to be another event in your diary of schedules! And all this while I was proud that I knew you well! And every time I feel that, you shuffle your pack and deal out another human quality that increases my respect for you!
Many people on many platforms swear that I think like you, feel like you, sound like you et al. (I don’t look like you, mind you. I am only 2 metres shorter in height!
)
And now, after having lost my identity thus, I still remain with you - in the spirit of advaiyta!
Reminds me of Gurudev Tagore’s verse (He addressed them to God. I am addressing it to you):
“I boasted among men that I had known you. They see your pictures in all works of mine. They come and ask me, “Who is he?” I know not how to answer them. I say, “Indeed, I cannot tell.” They blame me and they go away in scorn. And you sit there smiling.
I put my tales of you into lasting songs. The secret gushes out from my heart. They come and ask me, “Tell me all your meanings.” I know not how to answer them. I say, “Ah, who knows what they mean!” They smile and go away in utter scorn. And you sit there smiling.”

My Hero Mr Natwarlal,
No major celebrity has every done concerts in India like they do overseas. I know there is commerce involved in those shows, however, this is much more than commerce and My Hero you know it very well.
It is about time to show your true gratitude towards your true fans. And like everything else you can spearhead this one too.
Jai Hind,
Sachin
Dear Big B……I watched RANN thought it was mind blowing performance by you.
I feel like you experiment in roles , you also need to change your looks to suit the role and also to give the audience a different version n yourself in each movie…Like Paa one cannot even notice your presence.
You look terrific by being yourself, but at times you need to physical add changes.
All the best Keep Rocking
cheers
Jay
My Dearest Mr. Bachchan,
iam sorry for the sad event and the passing away of Miss. Pankajaji’s brother. may his soul rest in peace.
you have drawn an interesting and much detailed image of the place with all the incidents, the visitors, and customs connected to this sad occasion.
I liked very much your vivid description of this place of the old feudal world and the customs connected to it. somewhere within I feel delighted to read and know about the existence of these places which stay untouched by modernity, and are spared the ruinous effects of civilization. I would love very much to visit a place like that, one which still preserves some values, simplicity, purity, traditions and customs which we miss in the so called modern and civilized world of ours now.
I do support you in your stand against Mumbai Mirror and your decision to not attend Filmfare function. of course they have crossed limits and it is a shame that they don’t show the slightest signs of being responsible to their own acts and admit their error. they have to apologize and try to repair and restore in public what they have committed in public.
you still managed to write and send us a beautiful post with interesting descriptions in your stat of flaking out…and I will b waiting for more from you on the morrow..
so sleep well and enjoy the sweetest of dreams..
and I wish you a wonderful day ahead and a pleasant night too..

Sir
Belive it or not, but my regard for you has gone up 100 folds by your call to boycott the award cermony
I was sure just 10% you will do so after what MM did to Ash and your Family Image
Hats off to you to take a stand against them, good that you are sending a clear signal and a notice for appology
These Pigs need to be taught a lesson or two and what better platform than their own awards night as it will be clear statment to the Film Industry too, that they too must not succumb to such scandalous articles and protest
Better if you get best actor award, do not accept it, further take protest to a new level……
Take care, all the best for new story ideas with Balki Sir, tell him to have a shave, long overdue

Dear Amit,
Hi………………Happy Holi……….Keep the sprit of Holi………..with fight against demons of Media…..If required we will bring down the entire Times group on its knees…………..Privy purse is abolished but not the free will of Royals to love and protect the dignity and rights of ………………..Princess & Prince.
Death is changing of Body by soul enlightened with knowledge of almighty……and almighty makes the journey smooth for good and noble souls…..ensure to choose the womb which can sustain your enlightened soul for next birth………..or optionally you could use the route of Yoga to enter appropriate body…………..best suitabe for your soul to evlolve………..Imagine you are in a tomb, an Egyptian tomb, and you’re looking the pictures painted and carved on the walls. You see warriors with bows hunting, servants plowing in the fields, falcon and jackal-headed gods, kings and queens sitting in their palace, musicians playing music. Egyptians loved to make art. The Egyptians made statues, reliefs, paintings, pottery, jewelery, sculptures and coffins. They made art for gods, kings and queens, and for the dead in their tombs. Their beliefs and religion were often drawn on paintings like their predictions of what the afterlife was like, or pictures of gods doing certain things. Egyptian art was very delicate and beautiful.
Influence
The Egyptians were influenced by many things. Their religion and beliefs were shown in most of their paintings. Paintings had pictures of gods and goddesses doing different activities. Colored portraits made predictions of the afterlife they believed in. Nature and everyday activities were main subjects too.
Art Forms
Egyptians had several kinds of art forms. Mummy cases, or sarcophaguses, were built for the bodies of kings or important people. They believed that the body went to an afterlife and the sarcophagus was to be a beautiful and valuable place for the body to rest. The body was wrapped in white bandages then it was put in its own case with a unique design. But the more significant people were given more than one case, which were piled inside each other. Another interesting art form was relief art. In relief art, the picture was carved into layers to give a raised look. In the Old and Middle Kingdom, reliefs were made in soft limestone. During the New Kingdom sandstone was used. Reliefs showed every kind of activity, from feasting to working, from learning to dancing. Statues were another common art form Egyptians liked making. Most were of gods, goddesses, pharaohs, and queens. The statues could be made small or large. Statues were not suppose to copy nature, but they were meant to be symbols of the people’s beliefs. Statues always had to be youthful figures. The paintings and drawings of Egyptian people look flat and strange, because they were painted in a particular way. I mportant people were painted larger than others. Heads were shown from front view. Eyes and the top half of the body were shown from the front, but arms and legs were shown from the side, so that they were easier to see.
Hieroglyphics
Egyptian language in writing was called hieroglyphics. Because of its importance to the culture, this written and painted language was also an art form for the Egyptians. Hieroglyphics was a system with 24 alphabetic characters. Vowels wouldn’t be written down. Instead they had phonograms and ideograms. Hieroglyphics were carved or painted. But for everyday purposes, they used a simple cursive form of hieroglyphics called hieratic. The picture writing, hieroglyphics was used for religious writings and for inscriptions on monuments. There were about 750 different hieroglyphs. It took as much as twelve years to learn to write in the Egyptians script. Many artists and scribes started learning at the age of four! They wrote on papyrus scrolls using colored inks and pens made from the softened ends of reeds.
Still,Egypt has its beautiful and delicate art. Going to museums will help us to discover and learn more ancient art from Egypt. You can look in tombs to see wall carvings, ancient pottery, and stone statues. You never know, there may still be some new and undiscovered pieces of art. Maybe you will find something too. Egyptian art is loved by many people because of its mystery and wonderful colors. It can be admired still today.
With Love………………………. Farhad.

Respected Amitji,
My condolences to Pankaja ji and her ‘maike’ on the death of her brother.
Thanks for letting know the importance of Neem to all our global friends.
Mumbai Mirror offering personal apology is not justified at all. The lawyer notice is a good decision. It is shameful if they donot apologise. We are still with u even if u are silent sir!! And u know that very well.
Good decision of banning the awards nite and spending time with Balki for some productive work.. Only thing disappointing for us is we will not get to see ur smile, ur laugh and ur speech. But then, its fine, the situation now is to put up a fight. We are with u!!
I hope this morning brings u lots of pleasant surprises
love u lots

your deepest observations, but very subtly mentioned details of the rituals of the barahvi was very nice. There is only one man who can do such wonderful things and which is YOU!!
Dear Sir
I hope Mumbai Mirror will do apologize and they will not miss best actor award to be taken by yourself.
Thanks & regards
Just got back from watching TEEN PATTI… you were so, so good in it! I promised Valorie to go see it one more time for her, just to be able to describe to her better how absolutely adorably DISHY you looked and oh yes, of course, how wonderfully you performed.
Tonight’s posting was, except for the sad occasion, so idyllic in its description…I felt like I had stepped into an R. K. Narayan short story, only the locale was not in southern India…
I am in total support of the decisions you shared with us tonight. I hope you slept well last night afterwards…by now it is morning again for you, but good-night for me…I’m turning in early tonight at 11 pm Texas time. So sweet dreams for me, good morrow to you…
Love and regards,
Phyllis
Daksha, thank you so much for that wonderful compliment you paid me last night. I am totally unworthy of the comparison, but a compliment from a really accomplished and interesting writer like you, is an honor indeed! Thanks again!

Death, thy servant is at my door. He has crossed the unknown sea and brought thy call to my home.
The night is dark and my heart is fearful - yet I will take up the lamp, open my gates and bow to him my welcome.
I will worship him with folded hands, and with tears. I will worship him placing at his feet the treasure of my heart.
He will go back with his errand done, leaving a dark shadow on my morning; and in my desolate home only my forlorn self will remain as my last offering to thee.

For AB,
Your post takes me back years again.
As a kid I was given to a perpetual state of excitement and ownership! Days of daily discoveries!
Sadly, as I grew up, that seems to have almost disappeared. Today, it is far and between and doesn’t have the same sense of ownership!
Now, when I see a reflection of those moments, there is a rush of adrenaline, and I struggle to hold it any which way I can. Sometimes, in my effort to save the moment, I go into a state of denial. I become irritable, arrogant and disrepectful to those that I feel have been responsible for my inducements.
The spectral flux that energized my flamboyant youth is now eclpised by vanity and conscious evasions.
I really appreciate your decision of boycotting prestigious Film Fare award.
Dear Sir
Condolence to Pankaja ji for the loss.
good to know that Mumbai mirror has been served with a legal Notice and you all have decided Not to attend the Filmfare. let them realise the loss they have created themselves. And I agree, that Silence makes the guilty realise what they have done. So, better be silent and decide what action to be taken rather than shouting & being arrogant.
They will come back to you sir, thats a belief.
hope to meet you one day.

Dear Mr.Bachchan,
I really appreciate your strong stance on this matter. I felt sick n disgusted on reading that filthy article. Mumbai Mirror, sorry to say, is full of that. I’m pretty sure the author was some woman who’s sick in her head with jealousy. I really respect you and your family, the way you all conduct yourselves in public, it’s truly admirable.

My dearest Amitji.. My condolences to Pankajaji and her family on this irreparable loss…
Coincidences in a life happen.. Incomprehensible secret., coincidence of circumstances.. In this case the unfavorable.. So happens in a life..
My precious… I now admire your beautiful face on cover HELLO… You handsome my dearest !
I reconsider your films and each time I find for myself new… You are inimitable and to you are not present equal., I can tell to you it with confidence!
I with impatience wait for possibility to see TEEN PATTI.. It will be possible phenomenal success, I feel that it is a masterpiece!
Let all your wishes and plans will come true my precious… Blessing God to you and your family. My dear, I do support you in your stand against Mumbai Mirror and your decision to not attend Filmfare function… So should be.. With you always and in all..
Thanks for a nice post… Successful to you of day my angel.. My prayers, care and warm gentle love to you.. Yours devoted and loving Lyudmila..
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Loved your description of Deerd, but not the suppression of women, especially widow part.
At last we get to see some deservedly solid action against MM. More than the legal notice the total boycott will pinch them more.
Greatest regards,
Melwyn
One of the most memorable activities our group did on my India trip was go on a village hike. We just happened to be there at the right time to catch a wedding celebration. The groom was 6 years old! The people were so friendly and would take our hands and lead us to dance with them. One of the women which we visited made us lunch but it all contained home made ghee. It was either eat her food or nothing so I had some. And I tasted it for the rest of the day because I’m not used to eating such heavy food.
This evening I was at the beach watching a bunch of young people take apart their snowman. Three of them were each holding one large section and proceeded to throw them into the ocean at the same time, increasing the water level just a bit in what looked like some sort of ceremonial toss.
You have written before about how they say we use only a small portion of our brain. I’ve been going through some old ‘Natural History’ magazines and in an issue from 1998, science writer Stephen Jay Gould writes this:
An odd principle of human psychology, well known and exploited by the full panoply of prevaricators, from charming barkers like Barnum to evil demagogues like Goebbels, holds that even the silliest of lies can win credibility by constant repetition. In current American parlance, these proclamations of “truth” by xeroxing — if sufficiently benign to do little harm, yet embraced with all the force of a dictum running “from God’s mouth to your ear” — fall into the fascinating domain of “urban legends.”
My favorite bit of nonsense in this category hits me daily, and in very large type, thanks to a current billboard campaign by a company that win remain nameless. The latest version proclaims: “Scientists say we use 10 percent of our brains. That’s way too much.” Just about everyone regards the “truth” of this proclamation as obvious and incontrovertible — although you might still start a barroom fight over whether the correct figure should be 10, 15, or 20 percent (I have heard all three asserted with utter confidence). But this particular legend is even worse than false, for the statement is truly meaningless and nonsensical. What do we mean by “90 percent unused”? What is all this superfluous tissue doing? The claim, in any case, can have no meaning until we develop an adequate theory about how the brain works. We don’t even have a satisfactory account for the neurological basis of memory and its storage — surely the sine qua non for formulating any sensible notion about unused percentages of brain matter! (I think that the legend developed because we rightly sense that we ought to be behaving with far more intelligence than we seem willing to muster — and the pseudoquantification of the urban legend acts as a falsely rigorous version of this legitimate, but vague, feeling.)
I hope you have had sufficient sleep now.
Love you,
Rochelle
Hi Sir,
My condolences to Amar Singh’s wife and family.
Generally speaking ‘angans’ are a beautiful place to be in especially when the sun shines at its brightest. There is something about the flowers, the freshness that has the capability to immerse one within the surroundings. The ‘neem’ standing in the middle of the courtyard of which you discussed in the post provides some uses to human needs, but a big picture is its daily role as a photosynthesizer involved in the cycle of carbon and oxygen. Such an important function these simple yet complex biological living things play in maintaining a healthy and habitable environment. Mumbai Mirror will have to apologize now with the legal notice. In response to the comment on remaining silent, sometimes it is beneficial, but during other instances it is taken advantage of. I am sure your reason for absence at Filmfare is understandable, so no further questions.
Regards and Love,
S

DEAR AMITABHJI,
SORRY TO HEAR THE SAD DEMISE OF BROTHER OF MRS PANKAJASINGH,WIFE OF SHRI AMAR SINGHJI.MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.
I am very glad for your two decisions :
1. that you have sent a legal notice to mumbai mirror.they desrved this .they forced you to take this extreme step.
2. you have slapped the times group for deciding not to attend the FILM FARE AWARDS.
FILMFARE WILL REALIZE LATER TO HAVE THE LACK-LUSTER FUNCTION WITHOUT HAVING FIRST FAMILY OF INDIAS FILM FRATERNITY.
IKNOW THEY ARE GOING TO PUT LOT OF PRESSURE ON YOU TO ATEND THE FILMFARE FUNCTION AND I AM PRETTY SURE YOU WONT GET SUCCUMBED TO THE PRESSURE OF TIMES GROUP WITHOUT THEIR TENDERING APPROPRIATE APPOLOGY.
LOVE ALWAYS,
RAJINDER SEHGAL
Respected Mr.Bachchan,
May the departed soul rest in peace!
The concept of’aangan’slowly fading away…!It used to be situated at the back of the house. It was an essential space, made full use of,by our mothers and grand mothers. So much was put out to dry… women used to sit under the sun and dry their hair,at leisure!
ALL parts of the Neem tree, even the roots, can be used to our benefit. It’s a wonder tree!
Boycotting the Filmfare awards function-show of quiet non co-operation against yellow journalism! They haven’t left you with another option Sir!
with much warmth…
Shobha,bangalore.
Charansparsh,
Going through tough times. Need your wishes and kind words to overcome the bad times.
Pranaam & Charansparsh,

Hi,
Saw Teen Patti last night. Well ! Its OK. Nothing more. i think you should do less number of movies but important ones. After PAA there’s nothing much…u can avoid Rann or Teen Patti. Read movie’s review in washingtonpost.com… “Area Bollywood fans may enjoy “Teen Patti,” although it plays like an unholy mishmash of “A Beautiful Mind” and the far superior thrillers of Michael Mann, whose style director Lena Yadav tries to imitate. But at least there’s Bachchan, who demonstrates — with his pompadour, his too-stylish glasses, and his habit of barking! every! word! — that he’s the subcontinent’s answer to Al Pacino. But unlike Bachchan, Pacino has never been forced to prance through a Gaga-on-the-cheap music video during his movie’s closing credits — more’s the pity.”
Sadly i agree with the reviewer. Please stop doing this mediocre stuff. Do only 3 movies in year but do it for right reasons. If movies are not happening, then maybe you should do television. You must do movies very very selectively. Hope your all future films will excite me and make me feel proud of being a bachchan fan.
Love and regards,

Dear Sir..

BRAVO, Amitji!!!!!
A BIG SALUTE to you from all of us!!!!!!!
You’ve done the right thing by deciding not to attend Filmfare award functions!
And you’ve done even better by serving Mumbai Mirror a legal notice!!!
In my opinion, out of TEEN PATTI, you’ve dealt the above TWO cards!
And the THIRD ACE better be a lawsuit claiming damages of 5 CRORES!
This so-called editor - Meena Bhageli or whatever - didn’t turn out to be a woman enough to show some grace and apologize for mis-reporting. Neither did the management of Mumbai Mirror do it publicly, and even worse, the owners of Times Group… To all of them I show my bare arse!
It indeed is a very correct & apt decision on your part to stay out of the award functions, and also to not let Aishwarya take part in it. I must thank Balki for showing his solidarity with you! Thank you, Balki Sir!
I also want to see how many others show their solidarity with you & your family. Its time they paid back whatever they have been receiving all these years from you…
Let all others from film fraternity know that if it has happened with you today, then it will happen with them tomorrow. So, everyone has to stand by one voice and show media the thumbs down if they indulge in such unfair practices!
Keep fighting, ANGRY YOUNG MAN!!!!!!!!!
The FORCE of FmXt is with you!!!!!

The narration about your visit to the place “Dared” (Smt. Pankaja ji’s home town) is highly appreciable. I really felt my presence there together with you especially when I read the line about “Neem Tree” - very touching line as I am a nature loving person that too very deeply. Thank you very much.

Dear & Very Respected Big B DADA,
We Indians are very prooud & also very lucky having the personality like You, Lata Didi, Sachin Tendulkar,Sunil Gavaskar, Our Late Prime Minister Indira Gadhi & much more ……
Don’t get angry with my opinion subimtted herbelow.
All of them I most admire Sachin Trndulkar, because he never express his coments in words but show his value in his action. The recent incident, when he said I am proud to be Indian & Mumbai is for all Indians.
There were very nasty coments from very leading political leader, (I don’t want to name those leader because I doubt about their so called Leadership), but our Tendulakar remains quiet & firm on his thaughts. This act of his is really admirable. I am saying this because I read in news paper about very bad coments abour your daugher-in-law, & also your recation on that. I feel, I am not suggesting, you should follw the steps of our Great Sachin. There is not a single incident in his carrier where he recated & expressed his thoughts & gave the media chance to make issue of it. So think over it, though you are elder one than Sachin. There is nothing wrong to follow the steps of younger one than you, if the same are very effective & acceptable by the educated community.
With High Regards,
Surendra. Pune.(9822421808)

How are you ?
Please accept my condolences on passing away of sri Amarsinghji’s B-I-L.
Only you can give such a lovely description of a funeral ceremony & days & customs of yore!’Angan’ , I wonder wether today’s children, who live in apartments, have any idea of what ‘aangan’ is? I too simply love ‘aangan’.
Very, very glad that you decided to sue MM. I appreciate it very much. They can insult you in public & apologise in private? Very funny!!!!
Good , you are boycotting the FF awards!!!! Actually I was looking forward to watch it , but now that , you have boycotted it, then so will I !!!!You are such a fair person in your dealings with anybody, all you are asking is an apology for a false report, & this MM people could not give it!!!!!! Thanks for taking a firm stand in this matter. It means sooooo much to me.
Yet to watch TEEN PATTI. Those who have watched it , say , one more brillient performence from you!!:)

Dear sir,
I watched Teen patti yesterday and found it very interesting and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It said a lot about earning quick buck…and greed…
And your performance as usual great!! It was a treat watching both you and Sir ben kingsley share the screen space.
All in all a good movie.

anamika

Sincere condolences to Amar ji’s wife. May God rest her brothers soul in peace.
Get well wishes to Shweta.
Get well wishes to Shankars Uncle/Aunt.
I am with you on your stand on MM and decision on FF. Best wishes for the ideas for new film with R.Balkiji. If looking for a south Indian finish , thin and skinny looking, natural halfgrey hair & moustache, somewhat good voice(not for singing), probably a street side vendor and shoot is in Dubai……and very affordable…. haw….haw……………
Sorry to keep you waiting. I am here as usual so spend some time with you, I know you will excuse me for being late.
I may not be the right person to be with you when you travel in RR or a Helicopter or part of big event or grand celebration or bright lit stage or intellectual debate or glamorous circles or anything urban.
For I love the rural part and I believe and am confident that one day will make it with you to give you company. Just hoping to catch up when you get time too , to enjoy the ‘angan’ surrounding, the medicinal neem environment. I simply love the natures paradise ‘VILLAGE’. Yes TOWNS and CITIES are needed. But should the villages be wiped out?. Oh OK who am I a rural person to ask. Sorry!
May I draw your attention on my thinking on the possibility of neem stick (Refer DAY 644- #299)
Thanks for resting and rising with always more love for us and everyone.
Love
Mario

First Haiti….now Chile…
Huge 8.8-magnitude quake hits Chile - USGS
Sat, Feb 27 02:09 PM
A massive magnitude-8.8 earthquake struck near the coast of south-central Chile early on Saturday, shaking buildings and causing blackouts in parts of the capital Santiago, 200 miles (320 km) away.
A tsunami warning was issued for Chile and Peru by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, and a tsunami watch was issued for Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica and Antarctica.
Soon after, the U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had generated a tsunami that may have been destructive along the Chilean coast near the epicentre.
The USGS said the earthquake struck 56 miles (90 km) northeast of the city of Concepcion at a depth of 34 miles (55 km) at 3:34 a.m./1:34 EST/0643 GMT. Its magnitude was initially reported at 8.3 then 8.5.
An earthquake of magnitude 8 or over is classified as a “great” earthquake that can cause “tremendous damage,” according to the USGS website. The earthquake that devastated Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince on Jan. 12 was rated at magnitude 7.0.
According to a 2002 census, Concepcion is one of the largest cities in Chile with a population of around 670,000. The quake knocked out power in nearby coastal areas.
People streamed onto the streets of the Chilean capital, more than 200 miles (320 km) north of the epicenter, hugging each other and crying, a Reuters witness reported. Buildings shook and there were blackouts in parts of the city.
The Reuters witness reported very strong shaking lasting for 10 to 30 seconds.
A national emergency official told local radio the government was evaluating damage in and around Concepcion.
The quake struck far from Chile’s copper-producing northern region. Chile is the world’s biggest producer of copper, its main export, producing about 34 percent of world supply of the metal, which is used in electronics, cars and refrigerators.
In 1960, Chile was hit by the world’s biggest earthquake since records dating back to 1900, USGS data shows. The 9.5 magnitude quake devastated the south-central city of Valdivia, killing 1,655 people and sending a tsunami which battered Easter Island 2,300 miles (3,700 km) off Chile’s Pacific seaboard and continued as far as Hawaii, Japan and the Philippines.
Hi BIG B, i like they way u describe atmosphere at Bhavnagar.MM will do apolize ,im sure.take care.

A heart touching description of a village and specially of “ANGAN”.
It feels we were their at the place viewing by our own eyes.
Your family decision of not participating and not attending the Filmfare is absolutely correct.A public insult definately needs a public APOLOGY.
Waiting for your reply.Take care…
Amitji, I just remembered your trip to kailash/mansarovar having myself returned from Kashmir. Could you blog about your experiences there?
Respected Amit Ji
I use to visit your adda regularly, but this is first time when I am leaving my comment on the site. Last week I was seeing a TV program (Lift Kara De) featuring you. In that episode you mentioned that Sri Harivansh Rai Bachchan ji read “Madhushala” first time at a college in Allahabad. But I differ on the issue. Although I accept you must be knowing it better, but I have read 45th edition of the book in which he himself mentioned that he read “Madhushala” first time at Banaras Hindu University.
Kindly flash light on it.
Sincerely Yours

Glad that Balki and you are discussing the new movie ideas…..you havent signed anything yet, so this year its difficult that we will see you in any new movie after Teen Patti…that really makes me sad….meanwhile, please try and get Zamaanat released….dying to see that movie…

Dear Amitji,
With sympathies and prayers for Amar Singh ji’s brother-in-law.
Applaud your decision not to attend the Filmfare Awards and also to director, Balki. Proud, you have made this stand. Mumbai Mirror has definitely been very stubborn in making a public apology, shows they have no integrity whatsoever.
Pleased to read you’ll be having talks/ideas with Balki for your next film. Sounds exciting, hoping it will be three hits in a row!
The reviews are very good for ‘Teen Patti’ and I think ‘CONGRATULATIONS’ are in order, Amitji. I’m looking forward to seeing it very much!
Hope you are feeling much rested and refreshed today, please take it easy and have a pleasant week-end.
With love & best wishes,

Dear Amit Uncle:
So sorry to hear about the demise in your loved one’s family. Although I live in the US I grew up in small town Patna in the late 70s and 80s and miss my beautiful and humble home. Especially when Holi is around the corner I am remembering the delicate malpuas that my nani would made and we would stuff our faces with our colored fngers. And those puris dancing in delight in our thalis with Aloo Parwal ki sabzi. Those times will never come back. But on Holi I will be recreating the same ambience in my western home and chasing my kids with abeer in my hands.
Also, I saw you on Lift Kara de - only yesterday and it was so painful to see the folks from Allahabad and your biggest fan - Mahendraji. I hope you fulfil his wish by visiting his home in Haryana and helping his build his mandir for Hanumanji.
I wish I get to see you once in my life also. Chances are extremely remote. But God willing.
Hugs to Aish - I deplore the article - it was hurtful and vindictive. Why do people care - carry on with your freaking business. In part it is our fault also - why do we buy these publications anyways.
Hope you had a good day relaxing at home.
Rhea
Dear Sir
Happy Holi to you and your family.

Bachchan Family – We Are With You – Respectfully
Dear Jayaji, Amitji, Aishwarya,Abhishek and Bachchan Family,
Millions of your fans are with You and Your Family, always providing you the unequivocal and unstinted support consistently
It is sheer disbelief being experienced at the ethics of journalism with reference to the article published in the Mumbai Mirror recently
It is the true privilege and pride of a Woman that always empowers the characteristics of life since centuries and will continue to do so infinitely
A Woman is the grace of Life; A Woman truly teaches us to grow in grace and wisdom; A Woman teaches us that amongst one the greatest gifts we can keep giving one another infinitely is to consistently accomplish our respective agendas faithfully and consciously; to ensure that we are able to let our light shine through and radiate the hallmarks of magnificence in living a purposeful life; a life of purpose that encompasses meaningful values based principles as its primordial agenda consistently
A Woman teaches us that the art of life inspires us with the amazing foresight; and empowers us with the amazing strength and capabilities to accomplish the respective visions and dreams that belong to the goodwill of the Universe infinitely
There is truly so much more that could be proudly expressed for Women all across the Universe that would truly not be adequate to express the greatness of each and every Woman, for a Woman is a Woman, truly incomparable, outstanding and the greatest blessing of our life, especially our Mothers, the greatest gift of God
To have such an article published is very most lamentable and contradicting all norms and ethics of dignity and responsible reporting – journalism – since it is the person that might have ignorantly sought to instigate and implicate others that apparently got caught in their own web of delusion ignorantly since negligence begets negligence
The morals of life and its tenets engenders and exemplifies humanity to rise above the mundane and seek to discover, recognize and experience one’s true self – one’s true nature respectively
It is extremely regrettable that having the richest legacies of the wealth of the very finest endowments and treasures beyond compare, certain individuals seek to embark upon associating themselves with tarnishing others images and personalities while not realizing that they are actually jeopardizing and evoking the stability of the platforms – the fundamentals upon which they pledged to uphold the integrity of the Truth explicitly
They ignorantly venture into an enclave of preposterous behavioral attitudes that are only alluring more deplorable retinue of further prolific setbacks very most adversely to their anticipated intentionalities
Their moment of engagement in attention seeking activities disdainfully retorts back manifold bringing them their own rebuke and profound sets of regrets incessantly
This being the wrong – erroneous and very most negligent reporting action of one journalist has caused tremendous uproar and strongly hurt the sentiments of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the Bachchan Family and millions of fans beyond compare
It is not about the credentials and reputation of one Person who is famous; rather it is about a disciplined observance of the code of ethical behavioral whenever reporting is conducted since this is about the sincere privilege of Womanhood
A Woman truly knows how it feels and cannot be able to express how it feels to be referenced in such a deplorable manner which is contradicting the very essence of the protocol and etiquette of respectfulness
The journalist who has sought to embark upon citing such contradictory and negligent information must be aware that it takes a lifetime to live a lifetime and that it also takes a moment to experience a lifetime; the cherished moment is truly the gifted privilege of Womanhood when she is seeking to plan her Family respectively
Aishwarya and Abhishek are truly entitled to their privacy and plans relating to Parenthood and we all truly respect this and wish them well always, God Bless
However for a journalist to seek to engage in speculative reporting that is completely baseless and strongly inflicting tremendous pain upon another, especially a Woman, and whether the journalist knows that the true privilege of a Woman is being a Mother
How could a journalist seek to go far beyond any such extents? and publish details that are extremely sensitive and causing tremendous stress and extreme disbelief and shock – What if the journalist were to experience the identical set of circumstances? Would they be able to withstand and face such unfair unfair and grossly negligent reporting?
They would be able to understand that it takes a lifetime to become a Woman; it is truly a great privilege of a Woman to become a Mother; Mothers are the epitome of divinity
A Woman has to experience tremendous wonderfulness and respectfulness in life always; this applies to each and every Woman please; a Woman teaches us so much about the gratefulness and gracefulness of life very most characteristically
The journalist must seek to understand that a Woman empowers the evolutionarily cycle of life without seeking any acclaim or plaudits; she fulfills her role as a Daughter, as a Sister, as a Grand Daughter, as a Wife, and very most proudly as a Mother; God Bless
Speaking words that hurt the sentiments of any Woman is truly not what our heritage has taught us please; We have inherited the wealth of the very finest characteristics and should safeguard, preserve and carefully maintain the integrity of the values based principles that we have been bestowed with and ensure that we proudly hand them over to our future generations characteristically
The journalist must remember carefully that words represents worlds; this represents the words that others speak to us as well as the words the we articulate within ourselves
Words create a world of meanings and purpose; Words expressed represent commitments that we make with others and ourselves respectively; Wisdom is peace within ourselves as well as the interactions that we have with the Universe
Let us inspire one another to express ourselves – our words consciously, eloquently, meaningfully, responsibly, sincerely and truly; The words we live by create the worlds we live by; It is an important matter of perspective to carefully understand the essence of words; they truly encompass the magnificence of miracles whether in thoughtful contemplation; whether in expressions or intuitive intentionality
This is the miracle of life that demonstrates the immense significance of words and resonates the stark reality that words inspire us time and again – over and over again inspiring us to express ourselves – our words consciously, eloquently, meaningfully, responsibly, sincerely and truly
Please kindly remember, the words we live by create the worlds we live by; It is an important matter of perspective to carefully understand the essence of words; they truly encompass the magnificence of miracles whether in thoughtful contemplation; whether in expressions or intuitive intentionality
Please kindly observe and practice Righteousness and Good Conduct in all forms of thoughts, actions and expressions please
May One and All be Blessed with a Vision of Good Health, Awareness, Happiness and Wisdom always; God Bless
Love, Light and Wisdom,
God Bless,
Vashi

Dearest Amitabhji, I am sorry, yesterday I could not send my comment to a post in Day 675, therefore I do it today. So…
Good afternoon, dearest Amitabhji.
With returning you…
I’m very glad to learn, that your daughter Shweta feels itself much better. Give to her from me my wishes of full recover. Let she takes care of itself…
My sincere congratulations to you for NDTV Indian of the Year Awards!
Very interesting theme for reflections in your today’s post. Thank you, Amitji, for your thoughts concerning waiting. They are very cognitive, interesting and psychological. I always with the great pleasure and delight read such thoughts which set thinking me about many things in my life. I consider to them and in many respects I agree with them…
Yes, waiting has become an integral part of our existence and life … Belief, hope, expectation. What similar concepts and with it differing from each other … I have read at someone such phrase: « Hope for the best, and count on the worst » … All we wait for something in the life, we trust in something, we hope for something. It something is important, necessary, valuable in our life. For example, belief and hope in good and justice; waiting the best from a life; waiting, that the person will establish oneself as the personality and will find the true applicability in a life…
Each person himself decides, that to him to wait in his life (because the life of each person is individual). The same is concerned and a question «to wait-not to wait» for something in the life or from the life. But, certainly, as you have told « … No one, but no one will see the world as you can see it alone. No one then can take the decision in isolation of collectivity. Collectivity is good, provided all those that collect, think and act alike. There are very few examples in the world when this can actually happen … ». I cannot disagree with you in it …. And one more remarkable, exact words with which I too very agree: «… Nothing you do will ever be completely right. Error and exigencies shall prevail … Because we shall never know what may be the results after we wait … »
How me interestingly to learn you, your life and your thoughts each time from the new side! I adore you as the individual personality! For me you as the teacher and as the senior comrade, dearest Amitji … I constantly want to grow, be better, cleverer … Thanks, Amitji, that share with us such interesting, clever psychologo-philosophical thoughts … I so much is grateful to destiny, that I have opened for myself you as the person, as the actor … So it would be desirable to meet you, Amitji … Thank you, that you are, dearest … And I never wait to express my love for you and for those whom I love …
In the conclusion for some reason it wanted to cite one of my favourite poems of Russian poet Andrey Dementyev:
« How it is important to be in time
To tell someone a word kind,
That for excitement heart has trembled!-
In fact all can destroy death.
How it is important to be in time
To trouble or congratulate,
Shoulder reliable to substitute!
And to know that will be so and henceforth.
But we forget at times
To comply with someone’s request in time,
Not noticing, as resentment blood
Invisibly alienates us.
And overdue fault
Then torments our souls.
Only it is necessary - to learn to listen
That, whose life is opened. »
With my best and kindest wishes to you, Amitabhji.
Always with you with my sincere affection, warm-heartedness and love to you.
Olya from Moscow.

So you had a quick and sad trip to rural Kathiawad.
My condolences.
I liked your photofinish capture of the aangan and the people at the darbar baithak. Fantastic tehzeeb, isn’t it? Once I had translated a story set right in this atmosphere and it was a hellish job conveying what is said in silences, with just plain and blunt English.
Legal notice read and noted. No to Filmfare.
Yes, remember the length of the association.
Very sorry to hear about Amar Singh Ji’s Brother-in-law. may his soul rest in peace.
I support you and your family for not attending the Filmfare. And also its nice to hear about the Legal notice to the editors. This is the right step and also its true that when value increases be calm and silent. It will reap good results. Your actions teach us a lot Mr. Bachchan.
The way you have expressed and narrated the Neam tree and the old fort like house is just awesome. It shows your observaion. You observe so keenly, be it a architecture, the neem tree, the feelings in the eyes of the poor children, the common man or be in anything. You are really a genius. Thanks for sharing so very beautifully the surroundings.
But with all this, I earnstly ask you, not to travel so much. Please take care of your health. Take ample rest as it is much needed for your good health and no one would ask you for it, you have to have it on your own. So please take care of your self.
With you always and luv u hamesha

Dear Amitabh Ji,
Thank you in gallons and millions for entertaining us, our parents and might be our grand parents as well…aur dua karta hu ki sada yeh jo aap insaan ko aapna dukh aur gum bhulanay mein jo aap madad kartay hain aapkay kala kay duara, yeh nek kaam kartay rahey aur iis mein aap ko sab ki asish, dua, prayers, mannat aur sabsay baada Pyar… hamay sha say hai aur rahega.
But, I would say my grand parents & parents were far more lucky or privileged when compared to us right now…. (I am sure, I might have tickled in you one very powerful word or rather a question and let me tell you Amitji ..this question has changed the world and world would not have been what it is right now, if it was not for this word and it is ‘why?’)
Why do I think or feel so… right Amitji?
Let me cut loose the bag and let it out ….you know now the kitty is out of the bag now..

Now, why I said my parents and grand parents were lucky is: They got to see your raw talent ..the jist of acting of Amithab Bachhan.. be it angry young man or a heart melting aashik for millions of women… it was you and totally you giving your 100%..
But look at your latest 2 releases… we enjoyed it totally and no doubt in that but unknowingly or even when we didn’t want to … the comparison always remained… and I didn’t enjoy that…
Every movie of yours for me is like a chance to witness an acting extravaganza, festival and like a Christmas celebration but in these last 2 releases of yours..involuntarily … I had been comparing screen by screen.
I wanted get immersed and drowned for 3 hours but it was of different type.
Is there a shortage of Concept.. Original Ideas …or what can we say.. writers aren’t visualizing, conceptualizing or even writing.. ??
Even you might have felt sometimes that feeling of getting immersed into a film totally and didn’t have a clue how 2-3 hours flew by ….
I would very much love to see you in such a movie..and let these 2-3 hours just fly by..
Amit Ji .. This has become quite a long one.. I will post again… and it would be great to hear from you ..Sincerely..Samir
Respected Amitji.
Namaste.
Loved your performance in Teen Patti. You are too good.
Want to share something I read on the net with you and FmXt.
Many hitherto hidden sides of Amitabh Bachchan came to the fore on the sets of director Leena Yadav’s film Teen Patti. We all know how good an actor he is, but hardly anyone on the movie’s sets had suspected that he’s impressively good at other things like playing tennis or musical instruments.
“Mr.Bachchan is good in so many things. We were in awe. When we were shooting, we used to play games and we saw how perfect he is in tennis,” Leena Yadav is quoted as saying by a news agency.
But the real shocker for the director came when Big B showed little interest in getting trained in playing the violin for a scene in the film. Even though an expert was called in, Big B seemed confident of pulling off the shot without any training.
“I got an expert to train him and kept telling him that the expert wants to show him how to hold the violin. But Mr.Bachchan insisted on doing it during the shot. When he came to the floor, the expert was standing to show him but he took the violin, placed it rightly and started playing perfectly. He played the piano also. He surprised us in many ways,” Leena Yadav just can’t stop gushing about the superstar.
In ‘Teen Patti’, Mr. Bachchan plays a reclusive mathematician who formulates a unique probability theory that he applies on the Indian card game of teen patti.
Glad you decided not to go for the awards!!!
Dear sir,
My condolences to the Amar singh ’s family ..
nice to read the value of ‘Angan ‘.
‘ Angan is the our cultural heritage and witness of our living ..that is the vibrant nerves of home space . the beauty of Angan has been missing in metro or cities due to short of home space .
I am fortunate that in our house space , have 3 Neem trees ..now spiring season so fresh n new leaves taking places in the branches .
we are with your solid decision for sending Legal notice for MM .. they were neglecting the Apology in the public .
Right step to boycott function of Filmfare award !!
I will not watch the filmfare award ceremony at all , switched off TV or will watch other event .
with colorful regards Of HOLI ,
dinesh

Dear Dost..
Wish you and your family a very Happy Holi.
Holi - The arrival of the spring festival. The time when one has an opportunity to abolsih the bad within ourselves and accept and groom the good. It is the festival of colors which signifies, there are lots of colours in life, we have to enjoy them and spead the joy all over. Its Time to have fun.
And above all, how can I forget to say this.. Holi - enjoys the colors of festival with the songs by our beloved Mr. Bachchan ….Rang Barse and Holi Khele Raghuveera.. its just so much of fun..
This year as I am in UAE, will miss the fun, but surely will atleast hear those evergreen songs
Happy Holi to all the dear FmXt.
Enjoy
Luv Rasika
ONE MAN INDUSTRY,
Every year we think of entering Pratiksha to play & see holi in your house
but your s.guards don’ t allow us to enter.
So we have to stand with the media people looking at the wooden gates.
Hopefully one day Abhi will call us.
Till then have a HAPPY HOLI

Non-attendance at FF - bravo!! Balki would appear above board only if he were NOT planning another film with you! Bade logonke bade chochle! What’s this about sueing Baghel while letting the Jains off the hook? Token gesture….passing the buck…so that the rich & famous can save face. What kind of justice is that?
general opinion - teen patti - good actor but no script sense. Infact naseer has said, “we thought mr bachchan was intelligent only so long as he didn’t let the world know his mind.” And another, again from naseer, “I get offerd all of mr bachchan’s rejects. and considering what he accepts, you can imagine what his rejects must be like.” you have to admit that not only does he have a point (except for paa) but he also has a sense of humour!
What time is FF live on which chnl?

Dear Amitji,
Hurt as we all are at the INSENSIVITY of the Mumbai Mirror and their associates who are UNrepenting and UNrelenting Still towards their Blunder Commited OR INTENTIONALLY done article .
I SINCERELY Request all My fellow Bloggers & TRUE Fans Of Shri. Amitabh Bachchan to SINCERELY BOYCOTT all Newspapers , Magazines , Weeklies, and all other Publishings or Any Events like Filmfare Awards by The TOI group and their associates ,TILL they issue an Unconditional Apology to Mrs.Aishwarya Bachchan & Mr.Abhishek Bachchan officially , I on my part have already stopped reading the TOI which i was subscribing to daily & also have stopped getting Bangalore Mirror also.

Dear AB,
Others in your fraternity can’t be forced but here is an opportunity to come together and boycott Filmfare function. At one point or another all in your so called fraternity has been and will keep victimized and wounded by media. Some of them had surrender and many got corrupted by joining them and pampering them but surely now it is a time to wake up and say enough is enough. Balki and FMXT are with U extending our hands to others to unite against unjust and ugly voice. Let’s play this serious game…
true anil.s.kukreja #266, we as abhi says have the ultimate power. The power of choice! I choose NOT to buy or read trash. most of us have alredy stopped subscribing MM, TOI and other sister publications

With love & regards,
Rajesh Kejriwal

As Abhi had said - “With great power comes great responsibility” which MM has ignored….It is a wise decision to boycott the event…We are with you Paa….
Love,
Mitsu.
Amitji,
I always believed that the Times group had some values even when some leading industrial groups believed that they were running a sustained smear campaign at the behest of India’s largest business empire.
From your personal experience I find that they have now started indulging in yellow journalism as well which is unbecoming of a leading daily however though it may be through their tabloid.
They should be censored at the highest level for tarnishing images . It appears to be the work of a journalist doing apprenticeship to please his/her boss.
Our full support to you.
I see santiago #271 has copied part of my post #68. At least he could have corrected my typo of writing ‘doge’ instead of ‘dodge’.

Hello Sir,
Sad to know about Amar Singh ji’s brother in law…..may his soul rest in peace…just some days back my hubby lost his mausaji who was in Meerut, he had a heart attack and died immediately on the spot, it was really sad time as our family was there with them at Meerut, they just finished Baravah on the 24th Feb……He died on the next day of Mahashivaratri…..i was really thinking, mausi must have fasted and prayed for her family and then what happened….my ma in law went to the Mahakumbh Snan on Mahashivaratri and this news came, the next early morning……i hope mausi and her sons are managing without him now….
It was good to leave Filmfare Awards……Mumbai Mirror, you should really apologize now…..
Love and Regards,

Karthik Calling Karthik grossed 2.75 crore nett approx on day one. The film has done better at high end multiplexes enabling the film to have okay collections on day one.
The film should do around 10-10.50 crore nett business if it can show normal improvement on Saturday and Sunday. Metroes like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore have done the best business. Mass centres in UP, CP Berar and Rajasthan are not good.
Teen Patti had very dull business with around 90 lakhs on day one. The film will have to show huge jumps if it is have any worthwhile collections.
Dear Mr Bachchan,
Thanx for the wishes you sent for Neha for her second production…it was ahuge success with two houseful shows and non stop laughter….i knew your wishes wld do the trick.
thanks once again,
Madhu.
The name of the role Amitabh serious math professor does not seem to have the seamlines with all of the movie considered being so serious in Teen Patti. That is the review I hear. Is there a remix law?

Dear Sir,
saw Teen Patti today.
Have to say i am a bit dissappointed watching it. I Could make out that the film was made by a novice. There was no exictement in the storytelling.
THe only thing that was holding me was YOU.
But i must say, after seeing PAA, i now expect all the directors to fetch something different from you. something different in your body language, different in your facial expression, different in your dailog delivery. THe expectations are VERY HIGH FROM YOU after PAA sir:-)
Hope u some director does that with u in everyfilm of urs from now onwards.
Love & Regards,
KRishna Raj
Respected Amitji,
Taking legel action against mumabai mirror is great we are with u sir pl guide us for ur any help.
Wishing you a very happy holi.
pl do take care.Bye.

Just adding my comments to the mix here regarding FilmFare . I guess there are times when one has to stand their ground an say ‘enough’. And also when an apology is not a real one the stance becomes stronger and more firm. The legal aspect is not unwarranted as some in Hollywood even have take the tabloids to task and won. The truth is , that doenst make them go away, it may serve as a ‘wakeup call’ putting them on notice so to speak and keeping ‘honor’ intact.
I can see why it is in some respects its a difficult tightrope walk, hoping to for some semblance of solidarity and maybe being left to flap in the wind.
An uphill battle until the issues is resolved not just for the sake of satisfaction but in principle. We each go about it our own way and those here who are ardent admirers rally their support. Legally the pressure is on and the game of chess ensues. Is is going to be standoff after the fact? How far will it go?
I am only asking the questions to which I dont know the answers. It will be interesting to see the results and if there is a change of heart that will be a miracle on MM’s part.
Amitabh my love…
I so enjoy to read your blog and to think that you really write and read our comments.

Dear Amitabh Bachchanji,
Pen is mightier than sword they say. Media plays a very important role in society. Newspaper must use its space wisely for welfare of society. It shows how irresponsible Mumbai Mirror is by printing such an article without getting the facts right and by not apologizing when knowing the truth. Such newspapers must be severely punished. These issues should not be taken lightly. As a part of society, I would like to thank you for taking legal action against Mumbai Mirror.
Love always

We as your fan fully support your cause and we also support you and your family for not attending the 55th Filmfare. In any case I have lost faith on Filmfare awards. At one time Filmfare supposed to be prestigious award but it also fell into trap of nepotism and favoritism. Filmfare awards has no creditability. I can’t believe that TOI and its sister publications are so stupid.
Dear Mr. Bachchan ,
I am with you on the decision you have taken against the editor of Mumbai Mirror .
I agree with you, one cannot abuse in public and then come and say sorry in private ,but atleast they apologised ,so please do not boycott filmfare awards,i was so looking forward to the night of entertainment and awards ,pls ,pls ,pls all of you should attend .
I respect your stand against the incident but i would request you to reconsider your decision against attending FILMFARE AWARDS .
Pls Pls Pls ..
MUMBAI MIRROR APOLOGISE !!!! MUMBAI MIRROR APOLOGISE ! regards Ag
Great decision sir. Filmfare and MM sucks. It is their lost. Can’t believe that they can’t apoligize. You should and your family should never go to any filmfare award. You got mine support
SHUBH HOLI TO YOU AND ALL YOUR FAMILY MY GOOD SIR…………….
I respect and admire your stance on the “Mumbai Mirror” issue, what would be amazing is if the whole industry where to stand with you in solidarity.
After all today its our bhabhi Aishwariya they are writing false news about, tomorrow it could be any of the others actors or other members of the film world.
IT WOULD BE SUCH A POWERFUL MESSAGE TO THE MEDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am always with you Sir, my love and loyalty is eternal.

My dearest Mr Bachchan,
Hoping you slept well and the start of the day saw you rested, in better form. Although perhaps complete rejuvenation from recent events may require a few more early nights to heal the mind and body…
Returning to the copious medicinal properties of the Neem Leaf, which as you so aptly claim, is a wonder plant. I use it in ingestible form during the long winter months, as an antibacterial, anti-viral, antiseptic and a overall immunostimulant to prevent against the myriad of nasty germs during this time. Naturally, the circulation slows down in colder climates and Neem counters the build up of damaging impurities by boosting the blood flow again and assisting our system to purify and cleanse the blood. Obviously the secondary effects on energy, vitality and clear skin are always evident too.
From you charity championing duties, I am sure are you are aware, Neem has also been tested and proven for its a ‘curative’ effect on Diabetes. Regular ingestion apparently reduces the requirement for Insulin and even hypocleycimc drugs by lowering blood sugar levels. Surely this is evidence of mother natures mercy in providing a restorative to a community who suffers with large instances of the disease anyway!
That is my resolve; to my despair, regulated clinical trials on all herbs and Ayurvedic preparations rarely provide conclusive evidence to corroborate patient testimonies. While multinational pharmaceutical companies dominate the drug market and embezzle the profits, I suppose, natural products will always remain marginal.
Speaking of injustice - again I hope the legal notice to the MM will have resolved the dispute swiftly. Nobody is ever enamoured of legal action unless under duress. Its all very time consuming and exhausting, especially for one who has far too much on his plate already.
I sincerely hope you have enjoyed some relaxing time at home, in between enriching, creative conversation with Balki. Wishing you a bright and peaceful evening. Look after yourself my dearest Mr Bachchan.
Love to you,
Jasmine

Amitji,
Your fight against MM is a welcome sign of times. It might have happened in other countries before, but the Indian media is yet to face any such resistance.
You have addressed the media in so many ways so many times but the impact on the bad apples is yet to manifest. The editor of Mumbai Mirror is one such instance.
In my opinion, the flaw does not lie in the economics or business ethics.
An informative news is one that can be subjected to a truth-test and verified. A speculation cannot be tested for wrongness. A wilful, intentional lie is malicious.
The report about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was a vicious coctail of speculation and malice.
It may not be surprising that the editor let it get published and did not retract the words but it is surprising that those who quote your posts when they find it convenient did not even make a fake attempt at showing their integrity.
Wish you all the best… hope the system can work faster and deliver justice in good time…
Dear Mr. Bachchan and FxXt:
Words truly fail me to express my gratitude for all the wishes sent my way recently when my father passed away. I would like to take some space on this blog to acknowledge all as I finally found time to sit and type all the names who sent their wishes. The healing process is slow but as Renate said a few days back, I know it will get better. The loss is great but I know he is in a better place….as one Telugu poet said “poyinollu andharu mancholu, vunnolu poyinolla theepi guruthulu” meaning “the people gone are all good, the people left behind are their sweet memories”.
My gratitude for each and every one of the FmXt namely:
Rachana, Devkishen Vyas, Rupam, Reeham, Anand.ajayp, Zainab, Satyam, Archana, Renate, Shakti, Rajesh, Manish, Jasmine Jaywant, Skh, Darshan, Anu(London), Anita, Mary Anne in Pennsylvania, Shankar-seoul, Saroj, archana(benguluru), Srinivas from USA, Rochelle, Anil, Abhaya, Sonal & Simran, D.B. from USA, Phyllis, Tatiana, austere, Mario, Anat Magen, Fats (Fatima), Kashmira, Vikas, pradipta rajan, Naishadh Vyas….I hope your treatment is going well and all the best, Barun, Lyudmila, Shubha, Anand Khare, Sangita (UK), vijaya, Adi(Ghana), Shashishekhar M Vyas, Aishwarya, TVM, Sigali, Manish Parmar, Melwyn, Smita**, Ramanathan, Shubham, Priti, Aga, Jasmine of London, Brenda, Jyoti Punjabi, Rasha Zayed, anuradha, Shilpa Dhondarikar, Mr. Schizophreniac, Raman Jetly, Upendra Kasid, Rajesh (Bucks, UK), Valorie Adams, Daisy M, bunty, Kishore, and Margaret Ann. I wrote them down in the order I received and please excuse me if I missed any body.
Kashmira…your phone calls were always supporting and thank you for the same.
Rose C…thank you
Mr. Bachchan
This sacred place you have created is so special and the reason it is special is we experience real concern and love with no expectations. Proves how just a thought or wish can console a grieving soul and the strength it gives to know there is another soul supporting no matter how invisible. My sister ‘gs’ who is also part of the EF joins me in thanking you all. Yes, you have two crazy fans from the same family….

Dear Amithji, what “royal feudal voyal feudal” We are not in awe of wheeler dealers. Anyway, royal family of Bhavnagar and rajasthan and all rajputs boycotted him after he garlanded phoolan devi. Any death is sad, condolences to Pankajaji, she already was sad with jaya prada dancing in her aangan.
Dear Amitji,
Today is my birthday. I prayed god for your good health.
Justice never fails. Don’t worry sir
Your loving,
Mahbooba Kaleel (Srilanka)
Dear Mr B,
Quote “I did not feel the need to involve you in the process.” Unquote. Why because Fmxt had served its purpose AFTER you involved us all in your hysteria!
The quote basically sez dat empty vessels make the most noise. Didya not?
Whoever sent it has some sense of humour, must say!
“…even tho’ we have friendly relations with the family….” Still, they showed no respect for your family. They behaved like feudal lords assuming that 1 crore wd make your bahu twirl to their tune like a mujrewali. Aishwarya has dignity, for sure, no hysterics, direct chop off balls.
“Thank you Balki!” For what? Solidarity in films is in direct proportion to need.
TOI is not going to collapse with minus 200 subscribers. Not even if they are i lakh. So all your coins can create a racket if dey want. The court can direct dem to apologize but won’t enforce the ’same size font on same front page positioning’ blah. Go for the jugular. 100 crores to set up a foundation for the girl child. Go on, let’s get some good out of the mind games.
Amitabhji, my condolences to Pankajaji and her family…
God, why so far Mirror Mumbai has not made their apologies?! How it is unfairly!
Amitji, dearest, I wish you internal calmness and harmony both all the kindest and the best to you and your family! Take care…
Always with you.
Olya from Moscow.
i don’t know why media get this low and publish this type of false stories..
i fully support your stand on this point…
all these media will be shut up and stunned when aishwaryaji will deliver a babyboy ..
VYASJI, y’day you must have reiterated 100 times that Amitji SHOULD ATTEND the FF function because that’s what you thought he would do anyway! Today, you are crowing the opposite. Wah! Kya family (fmxt)hai!
BEST ACTOR -MALE IS YOURS AMITABHJI
CONGRATULATIOS IN ANTICIPATION OF GREAT HONOUR
Dear God,
I dont have the words to express how SORRY i am for being abscent for so long. Its that as you know i joined a new place of work and i am myself taking lots of pressure on myself. As i have been jobless for more than a year, something is making me do more than i can. Just like a out of form batsman who has scored three ducks comes out to bat in his fourth inning, scores one run and belives he can score one hundred.
Work can wait for a few things though, as i bunked work for a few hours and went to see 3 PATTI yesterday 1st show along with the AMITABH BACHCHAN FAN ASSOCIATION here in KOLKATA. A new association for me and a great one. Wont like to talk much about the movie though, its Disapointing.
Great that you have taken on BENNETT & COLEMAN. Take a bow. Only you can take that biased group by its horns and make it bow. WE ARE WITH YOU. The loss is their entirely.
Gratefully

Hi Naresh! I have sent you a fb message:). How are you anyway?
Mahmud(london)
I thought of many ways to compliment you. But the only best one i could come up with is - You are an actor! A man who has no flaw in the flow of emotions from his mind to his body.Nothing more . Nothing less. Kudos. Kudos not because you’re a good actor! But because you have made sure that a man’s life is not valued by his success but by his family. I am sure you know what i mean.
Eager to see if you respond to my communication.
Good luck, warmth and love,
Athiya.
Should add, that my abscence is felt by many is evident from the mails i received. I am moved. Thanks everyone and specially you Smita. You guys are the stars.
Dearest Amitji!
Kemon Asen apni? Hope you are fine and well. How is Shweta ? I pray of her speedy recovery.
Today our Chelsea team has lost to Man City. Very very dissapointing game. I must say Man City havent done much effort. The lack of discipline of Chelsea has to be blamed
Let us know how some of us can able to meet you when you come next time to london plz?
With love

Teenpatti is such a pathetic film…yuck!
and your performance? well…pathetic!
Sobbing I cried at midnight
In my deprivation.
Then came the ghosts of darkness
And I was ashamed.
“Ghosts of darkness” I said
“Sobbing and weeping
Thus I am found, whom you once
Passed as a sleeper ignored
I have lost such great riches.
Think no worser of me,
He who you once called wisest:
Great misfortune has struck him,!”
Then the ghosts of darkness
With lengthening visage,
Went on their way,
Whether I was wise or foolish
Nowise them concerning

Dear Sir,
May I offer my condolences to Mrs Pankaja ji and all in her maternal family. May the Soul of her deceased brother rest in peace.
You have always regarded Amarsingh ji as your own family member…sometimes these ties of mutual love and affection and friendship are even stronger than those with whom we are related by blood. May God bless both families. The way you have described the place and the atmosphere surrounding the sad occasion, it is like written words turned into a moving visual. You have an eye for capturing details…of places, events, people..you study quietly don’t you. An art of perfection.. from the son of a prolific writer and a true actor. God bless you.
Your presence along with your family members will surely have given much assurance and strength to the bereaved family to cope with their loss. Yes the twelfth and thirteenth day after death of a person remain of significance because according to Hinduism, that is when the Soul completes its journey and joins souls of the ancestors. The way you have described the place and the atmosphere surrounding it…your written words have turned into a moving visual for me.
How I wish I could understand the reasons behind various kinds of rites and rituals in Hinduism. I have witnessed religious ceremonies, in the process of being conducted by priests all my life but there is a gap in my knowledge. There is a wealth of information on the internet…someday I will read it so that I can “explain” it to my children. Whether they will treasure the given information for future generations or not, I don’t know but at least I would give myself the benefit of trying.
On that note, I want to share with you something funny. In one of the weddings I went to, the bride and groom had decided to call a young priest so that he could communicate better with the invited guests, particularly the younger generations. Half way through the wedding ceremony, the priest started talking about football!! Not only that whenever he did manage a slok (which he was reading from a book bless him) he chanted them with a strong English accent….i.e. “Khapur khauram kharuna varcharam…”(the one that everyone is familier with) ending with “phradakshina phadai phadai..” God bless him.
Neem tree…truly a gift of nature for all its qualities. Us Gujaratis use the leaves to add flavouring to cooking..have you ever tried Kadhi? (supposed to be an accompaniment to rice.. like dal) Your cook Shushilaben if she is a Gujarati may have made it some time..
About time the morbid Mirror offered an apology…publicly! As far as I am concerned, they tried to earn their living by harming others..this is not the way to go..this is not right. They should really be ashamed of themselves…the employee concerned as well as “The Boss!” The longer they will take to admit to a grave error on their part, the deeper they will get into the hole!
On a happier note, I wish you and your family Sir and all FmXt and their families a very Happy Holi…My love and best wishes to all..brings back some memories…from darkness to light to joy…
Love,
Daksha
Dear Phyllis,
How I wish it was true! What really matters is we all enjoy the experience, not to mention how much we learn from it. All the best to you and your family.

And the d-i-l they get.
No wonder Telgis flourish in India.
Sir,
Sorry to learn the bad news about your immediate family’s relative. The death is rightly honoured by you by visiting the home in grief.
The importance of aangan and neem in an Indian home is well established. The aangan is the most happening place in Indian homes. We all had that privilege having lived in smaller towns of India. The kids who are born and brought up in small flats in big cities are missing something.I may have to take my kids to some botanical garden to show a neem tree or to some marriage in one of my relative’s place who has a aangan with a neem tree. kabhi kisi ko mukkamal jahan nahin milta..
Legal notice to Mumbai Mirror is a formality. Better you did it sooner than later. In my limited knowledge of law,I don’t see much result in litigation until you want to claim some money under defamation law. There is nothing in law which directs a newspaper to retract and apologize in a particular manner. They are already at stronger position after publishing Aish’s letter , partly though. No.. no.. I am not trying to weaken you. I am just speaking my mind. You have seen the world, you are more resourceful and you understand better the need of public apology.
It is not surprising that you and no one else from your family are attending Filmfare award. It was expected. All your friends in film industry should understand the need of the hour and boycott the award function. This should be done without any appeal from you or any member of your family. This action will register the industry’s might in erroneous publishing house and they may retract and apologise publicly before the next award ceremony.
I read somewhere that Mumbai Mirror was launched in Mumbai by Abhishek Bachchan. See how they have returned the favour.
Regards,
Anand

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
There are two Indians I adore - not just because they reached summit in their respective field but because despite their’s unparallel achievements , they could still maintain the humility which much lesser mortals so easily give up upon little success. You ofcourse one of them, and the other is dear Sachin Tendulkar. I know for sure, there are plenty of countrymen like me, who , adore two of you. And this brought a thought to me.
Two of you are in unique position to positively influence energy of millions of countrymen towards social changes which our country so desparately needs. I know, in personal capacity, both of you are engaged into one or other way to it - but here is need of involving larger mass - unfortunately we Indians are not very active towards social responsibilities & our’s generocity is confined within four walls of own home.
Just the other day , Sachin scored that unique 200 run - something cheered by millions of us. How about to take this opportunity to mobilise that millions to create a corpus (- In my imagination I see atleast 1 million people happily contributing Rs. 200 each to it)
I am sure if such a corpus initiative is appealed (I wanted to use word ‘ordered’ ) by two of you and if two of you guys spend little of your time to providing direction towards usage of that corpus - then success of this initiative can bring smile to countless people who need help.
Mr. Bachchan - This thought was with me for sometime now - no way its to mean that you or Sachin does not know your social responsibilities - Its more towards million of us - who feel letting down our own society because we are too small to really contribute in a meaningful way and - so this appeal to you.
Leaders are needed for mass movement and who else can be this ‘leader for change’ but two of you.
I just pray that you get time to read this piece and spare a moment to think about the request. Best Regards
SORRY FOR YOUR FRIEND, CONDOLEANCES
ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT YOU

Dear Sir,
I’m sorry to tell you that I’m not a fan of yours! In fact I can’t be a fan of anyone. I am not even a movie bug, though I have seen quite a few films of yours and did like some of them. What makes me write to you is your simplicity and honesty with which you accept that at your age whatever work comes your way is welcome and that you can’t afford to be a chooser. (Despite that I am sure you do look into certain aspects of a project before taking it up). Perhaps I too would react the way you do if I were in your place. But alas! the kind of situation I am in, all my such attitudes are taken as my weekness. So, you see, you can chose to be humble, yet for many others it can be a drawback!!
The other thing I find so impressive about you is your tanacity. I can only say that while celebreties like you impact so many minds in the country, it’s a pity that they fail to emulate what they actually need to of film stars like you. I am 50 myself but have no hesitation in accepting the fact that films and film stars are at the recieving end of everthing that is wrong with the younger generation.
Can you do the nation a favour? Please, do something so that those young ones who only copy celebrity fashions and attitudes also start being as much hard working, grounded and responsible as their celebrity Gods are. It will be far more fruitful, if in private, you motivate other celibrities too to do the same.
I am not sure whether a person of your kind likes being addressed as ‘Sir’ but I just didn’t know any other way to do so.
I won’t insist on you to write back to me as I know that would be too much of taxation on you.
Oh! I am a Bengali currently working in Kolkata but being born and braught up in Jabalpur (M.P.) I speak and write the kind of Hindustani that used to be the hallmark of Hindi films till ‘Satya’ got released. So, my hunger and thirst for ‘my kind of Hindi’ forces me to listen to poeple like you whenever you speak in Hindi, as most Hindi news readers fail me on that account.

Dear Amitabhji,
I was an active member of your extended family during 2008-9. In May 2009, I lost my job and, me and my family have been going through a lot of hardships since then. And hence, I have not been able to follow you on a daily basis. But still, whenever time and mood permit, I make it a point to read your posts.
However, I am still disappointed by the fact that you never bothered to respond to my post, informing you that I had lost my job. No, I dont want you to give, or find me employment. But a few words of consolation would have really helped me weather the difficult situation better.
Best regards
Jobless.

Thank god you as a family are a taking a stand against this insanity. Unfortunately our society has become crazen with celebrity and has forgotten the humanity associated with it. There are certain paparazzi journalism which can be dismissed, but stating that someone has TB is just plain wrong
Dear Dorothy Madigan,
I hope you are in a safe zone there in Hawaii. How close is your Bed and Breakfast to the ocean?
All the best to you, I hope we will hear good news from you soon.

It is really necessary to take strict steps against the media publishing sheer falsehoods for cheap publicity. The sensible and compassionate can feel the pain and hurt you all suffered……………….
BEST ACTOR NEGATIVE ROLE AND NOT SUPP ACTOR—BOMAN IRANI
Respected Sir,
You and your family had taken right decision to boycott Filmfare award. We are with you. Let Mumbai Mirror apologize. Let they understand that they can write anything about anybody. I request you that as u mention earlier MM must pay donation to charity as a penalty. And the amount should be huge (in crores). Only then they will learn a lesson.
Fight with them. Entire nation is with you.
with regards.
and
Happy Holi. May between this and next year Holi every day come with millions of colours to you and your family.
dear amitabh –please just ignore comments made by mm –show no reaction -they want you to squirm and break down –dont give them the satisfaction -continue living and enjoying your life -acting -blogging–exercising– being with your lovely family –its all jealousy and envy people always want to topple the man at the top –they did it to elvis presley-michael jackson -and many others –if you are too sensitive it turns the media on knowing a persons weak spot they try to break him down –and then say oh! we did not realize he was so taking these comments so to heart -as they are unfeeling and unable to fathom your success — do not give in to them –go everywhere you are not guilty of any sin .take care of your physical emotional and spiritual — all the best –jackie

BEST ACTRESS VIDYA BALAN—-PAA
Dear Amitji,
i have started one companion called actmumbai. The purpose to start Act Mumbai is merely to focus on the existing issues of Mumbai city. We have taken this initiative to
start this campaign for different views of people for the existing problems and solutions for it.
Here the individuals have to first register online, after which he/she will be a register user , according to which they can comment on polls as well as they can share their
stories online .
We have launched actmumbai.com on Saturday 13.2.2010 and we got tremendous response from users. We have 500 registered users in one week and our target is to reach
around 5000 registered users per month.
I need your support to push http://www.actmumbai.com
Filmfare did another injustice to you after Deewar! Now I understand why Aamir Khan does not go to award ceremony. Filmfare over the years has become a REWARD rather than award ceremony.
I hope AURO will take it easy… He won hearts of millions and that’s what counts! Haw! Haw!! Auro!
Respected Amitabh bachchan ji,
I feel proud to write on your blog. Feeling proud and happiness that my 5 years old daughter Priyati is big fan of you. She started speaking little late than her age, but she speaks only your name in the whole bollywood. She has watched “Baghban” and “Chini Kum” hundreds of times and she has also wathched “Bunty aur Babli” more than 100 times.
I am from Gujarat and proud to get a brand ambassador like to you for the fastest growing state in India.
It’s nice that “Bachchan Family” did not go to Filmfare Award. We need to teach this “Mirch Masala” media by throwing them in garbage.
Regards to all.
Gunjan Mehta, Canada
You sent a legal notice to Times Grp! Awesome kudos kudos!
Let the lawyers bear some of your frustration….

The future generation will not forgive you if you donot

Dear Big B
Did not you thought giving a misleading & libelous advertisement in Media about Samajwadi Party for UP State: ” UP me Hai Dum Kyun Ki Yahan jurm Hai Kum”. As every one in India knows this is a totally false & misleading statement. Big B was giving this statement all time for his friends Amar Singh & Mulla yam singh without any regards to rest of Indians & UP state people. Now why Big B is crying for a wrong statement about Aishwarya Rai? My great Regards & sympathy to Aishwarya Rai.
Big B should have thought before saying there is no Crime in UP. Now TIT FOR TAT MR.
