The Meridien, Cochin, Kerala February 7, 2010 Sun 10 : 27 PM
Valorie … a belated birthday wish to you .. may you remain healthy and wise and poetic as ever !
As I watch the ‘mohiniattam’ being performed on stage by a large group of dancers performing in honour of the evening to felicitate Resul Pookutty, Oscar Award winner for his sound design in Slumdog Millionaire, I cannot but be mesmerized by the kathakali dance form from these regions. The eyes and their expressive movement, the hands moving in lyrical grace, enveloping inviting and so utterly spell binding. The use of the most minimal body movement, yet enough to express what needs to be expressed. It is this brevity of movement that is so attractive. It is the brevity of expression that has sunk into the psyche of the inhabitants of this region. Their reserve and restraint is well known in their culture and language. Their literacy quotient being the highest in the country, could be another.
Kerala, God’s own country, has not earned this name without meaning. There is an air about it that justifies its warm and affectionate existence. But as always, just when you begin to enjoy and sink into the land, a departure takes place and we are soon away from it all. Perhaps a little too soon.
Resul, not gloating in the air of importance and recognition, has decided to give back to society, to his people and has started a Foundation for the needy. A medical care center with an established hospital, for those among us that are under privileged and poor. Noble and kind of heart. I contribute to it too, in kind, in a small ceremony that takes place a little earlier in the afternoon on arrival.
Keeping in tune with the phrase ‘do in Rome as the Romans do’, I order some extraordinary crafted dhoti and sari to be worn at the evening formal function. The sari of course for the ladies in the house. Typical Kerala designed motifs on them through gold and silver threads. Such richness of craft in every part of our beautiful country and such a shame that we are so unaware of it and its existence. Well I certainly. How wonderful it would be if I could drop everything around me and just visit every corner of India to imbibe, learn and experience my own land and people. How wonderful to learn and be acquainted with their customs and culture and language. To live with them, be one with them, breathe the same air, discover our countrymen in different hues and in turn hope that we can discover ourselves too !!
So, I wear the dhoti or munda as it is more colloquially known for the evening and I think there is an appreciation of it. The ceremony is short and sweet and over in an hour. Which is in sharp contrast to the pomp and grandeur and expanse of last night’s in Chennai. I meet up with the two greats of Malayalam cinema - Mohanlal and Mamooty. Their work is testimony to their greatness. Effortless, easy and so completely natural that it belies all that you may have conceived about how acting needs to be done. Mohanlal comes up to the room later and narrates a script for which he wishes me to do a days’ guest appearance. I am inclined on principle but will read the script and revert.
There was a post before the one that was there before that .. I think … which had ended with ‘to those that understand and those that do not understand’. Whereas there were many that did understand, there were some that did not. Were I to explain to them, it would rob me the reason for writing it the way I did. Explaining it would in a way diminish the effect of the content. So I would rather not. But if there are some enterprising young men or women that would wish to elaborate to those that desired elaboration, I would not stop them from doing so. In fact it would be a wonderful exercise in assuaging from them whether they were close to the thought or not.
The ‘dhoti’ in all its pristine glamour, tied up around the waist by shear will power and some dextrous use of the stomach muscle, else it slips down and opens up !! It is just a piece of cloth, no buttons, no belts, no clips nothing. Simple elegant convenient and with its own characteristic charm and above all - air conditioned at all times !! The fall of the main design as a strip down the front to be positioned on the right hip and just around the right knee. Rules of culture.
During my several interviews that went down today with Manorama News, the TV channel that is number 1 in the region, I was asked for a few minutes to talk to their radio station Radio Mango, and the lady that pushed the radio mike across my nose made an observation. She said my sign off ‘love line’ on the blog is always different. Different ways of saying ‘i love you’ every day !!
Strange I had never noticed that, and now that she has told me I am more conscious of it. Wonder if I shall sign off with a difference today. Lets see -
Love you … ‘munda’ and all …
Amitabh Bachchan

Amitji,
You look very very handsome in the dhoti…my dada wears lungi at home and when he was here…..he wore it at home..one day one of the neighbors asked ridhi..is ur granddad wearing a long skirt…so ridhi said..thats what Indian men wear at home…so very aptly said…..air conditioning at all times. I like that..we are leaving but had to jot down a few lines..we missed u a lot and do so right now too………..
You skipped us yesterday for the yellow line…we will be waiting today….
Lots of love
Alka
To those who understand
and to those who do not
you will always do what you want to do in your own urgency of time mending people’s tensions…but those who do not understand this…wont and those who understand…will say silent prayer to god that may he keep you in good health!
I’m on my knees before you…touching your feet…crying my little eyes out.
Seriously. Oh my gosh, Mr. Bachchan. I thought you didn’t like me or something…I just wish that somehow I could relay to you the AMAZING feeling
I am experiencing right now. From the depths of despair to the absolute PINNACLE of happiness! Thank you kindest Sir, for the birthday wish…and for acknowledging my POETRY! You DID read them…oh…no…look out…..I can feel it starting allllll over again….YIPPEE!!!!!!!!! My MUSE…MY MUSE!!!
My dearest one and only Muse…Oh my gosh, oh my gosh…Now I can die a happy woman…Thank you. I love you. I…love…you…so…much…omigosh.
Let me try this once again:
Love all the photos and the explanation about the dhoti especially about the perils of dhoti wearing. It’s a good thing you go to the gym to strengthen your stomach muscles so the unthinkable doesn’t happen.
I will come back later because we are about to leave for some South Carolina sightseeing. But it can’t come near the sights I see on this page today!
Love in all imaginable ways,
Rochelle
What Lovely photos you kindly share with us… thank you so much for your absolute sweetness… you look so charming .. adorable… stunner.. mashaallah.. god bless.. it is just a treat and an ultimate delight to refresh the page and see such a marvelous photos.. thank you… for everything..
You look just great in the all times air conditioned dhoti or munda.. you look great in everything you wear.. i just get irritated from the idea that it was so tight around your waist.. and your stomach muscle.. !
You sign off daily with different ways of expressing love.. all of them are just wonderful.. sometimes you don’t .. and that makes the joy incomplete.. but even if you don’t say it.. we can sense this love.. our love to you is unconditional.. immense.. devoted.. and it reaches you.. and your love does reach us.. your love is treasured.. it is just as unique as you are..
Have a very good night.. and have all my love.. affection .. best wishes.. sincere prayers and respect.
Jamaibabu, you are looking different but very nice. Saw Rann. You are, as usual, great. None could have matched the performance in the finishing minutes of the film. Ever since you started the telecast. Sudeep was also very good. Look forward to more superlative performances from you.

Love you - munda or no munda! Sorry… somebody’s will power just unravelled… after your eloquent description of the fabulously air conditioned garment, kept safely at waist level only by the will of the wearer and that dextrous muscle control.
My warmest salutations to the most glorious photos and verbal embellishments which have thoroughly turned my head!
And be assured… just like the journalist (what a great name - Radio Mango!) your loving FmXt - who hang on your every word - have already noticed the daily variations in your loving sign-off…
and monitor your affection levels more closely that a nurse in ICU checks the patient’s vital signs.
For my fond farewell… I can only return to my opening words… without specifiying my secret preference… your mischievously adoring Daisy
Sorry for the possible double post- it had disappeared and reappeared.
Munda, changa lag da hai. You really look good. What is it about you dressing in the clothes of any state and carrying it off as though you were born to wear that.

Dear Amitji,
Its not “Munda”. Its not “Mundu” either, phonetically. But something in-between. But normally “Mundu” is a widely accepted way of writing Malayalam words in English. This is just to let you know.

Hello Mr. Bachchan!
Tomorrow I have my 17 birthday! I can’t wait for tomorrow! Lots of love to You
How are You? Your post is really interesting. Thanks for describe your experiences and day in Kerala. I like know something new about other countries. Your describe ceremony with dhoti is really interesting. You looks amazing on these photographs!
You look like an angel
Amitji, it was good to read about Mohiniattam and Kathakali as described by you: yes, lyrical grace and beauty of the movements is matchless in Kathakali. And we got a glimpse of Kerala, as seen by Amitabh Bachchan: you could do a travelogue, you know. Just compile what you have said and continue to say about each region/city you happen to visit, and get it published in book form. Too bad your stay there was so short. One movie that comes to mind that has captured the beauty of Kerala marvellously is “Before the Rains”, a tale of doomed love (or was it lust?) set in the time of the British Raj, with a very sensitive performance by nandita Das. I highly recommend it. The cinematography was excellent, some of the best use of natural light that I’ve seen in cinema.
Thank you, Amitji, for wishing Valorie Sunshine, the resident poetess of the blog, a happy birthday. I am so happy for her. Will not even begin to guess which cloud she is on, but I know she will not be coming down for a long time!!
Love and regards,
Jasmine Jaywant

Dearest AB ji,
You are awesome, look dashing wearing Kerala’s traditional Kalli Mundu / Munda. Malayalam is so much tounge twister and somhow when written in english pronunced differently. The words can mean something different in other language and that makes it more tricky. Malayalam is my mother tongue and since born & lived outside Kerala it doesnot have the same ring. It is a balancing act for some of us who are outsider’s everywhere and perhaps we identify ourselves with the country, not more by a language, religion, region, state, cast, creed, etc….. Those of us who are termed as outsiders embrace everything India.
You are the torch holder as you have had the privlege to have lived in different States (some call us outsiders) and you love it all, you symbolize the theme of unity in diversity. You love our country from North to South (Kanyakumari thru Kashmir) and from East to West. That is why you are the most beloved citizen of India.
There is so much to write to those that misunderstand you. I think it is difficult to make someone understand as it is all in their mind set. It is when they misinterpret you or sometimes respond to you in the most bizzar way that we know that they don’t understand or get you & your thoughts in the right way. I am among those who understands you loud & clear truely.
Lots of love & respect as always,
Susheela - TN USA
Love you …
Dear AB,
Thanks for all the photos and Netty gritty of Dhoti. Don’t know why but these tid bits always appears endearing and amusing.
Must confess that your attire was little bit disappointing at felicitation-little ill fitted (gym effect vanishing!) and gaudy (at least it seems from photos) but U surely wiped that with this pristine Dhoti attire.
Abhi is getting huge opportunity to see India by taking Bingo in different parts. Unforgettable tour should provide all of U that opportunity.
Feel shy to use any sign off and still hope..no no hope but sure that it reaches U in pristine form.
love you sunshine.you look so fabulous in the dhoti, the art of wearing it,the way you explained is so hilarious!
valorie i can imagine you dancing on the top of the world.love you all.

Take care

What a Day it’s been…. hugest affection to Mr Bachchan for his golden bounty so generously bestowed, and to my most loving sisters here…
Love again, Daisy
What are you doing here..? I’ve been keeping up with your replies on DAY 656..
Nice pictures.
Well done keeping for the dhoti up…lols!!
Amitji, so nice to see you following “When in Rome…” and donning the munda. Great idea. We love you, munda and all! And you got saris for the ladies, so sweet and thoughtful of you. Hope they liked them, bet they are thrilled. Yes, I find the handicrafts of India fascinating and so rich. I love your thought of just dropping everything and travelling to each corner of the country. If only wishes were horses…Good that you met up with Mohanlal and Mamooty, and have paid them such a handsome and I’m sure very well-deserved tribute: I need to watch some Malyalam films of theirs. I remember Satyam and some others praising them often here.
I hope you have turned in early and are going to get a good night’s sleep.
Love and regards,
Jasmine Jaywant
Dear Amitji,
It was good to read your blog again after a long break. Was held up with so many things, but took out time to watch Rann. One more gem in the crown.
It was great to see you in Dhoti, but I also see that you have a bit of bandage around your leg. Take care of your health sirji.
Its refreshing to see through your view, the whole game of life.
Be at the best as you always are.

Valorie Sunshine, please don’t die, please, live now! Get up and start singing “Aaj phir jeene ki tamanna hai….” while dancing on top of Mrs. G.A Patel’s trailer. What were Phyllis and I telling you last night? I feel smug enough to say, “I told you so….” There is a saying in Hindi, “Bhagwan ke ghar der hai, andher nahin”. It means that in God’s house, there may be some delay, but no unfairness. (Approximate translation). So FINALLY, you get the recognition!!!! Hurray, and way to go, girl. Yes, he read all your poems, and he loves them (and you)!
So happy for you.
Your friend,
Jasmine Jaywant

You have such a great sense of understanding, be it dance, tradition, people, media, poverty, children, good, bad anything..you have such a great treasure of knowledge and eloquence to express it. You are truely amazing and no doubt The Man of the Millenium, The Excellent!
You have so nicely expressed the dance forms, the all-time air-conditioned Dhoti,The warmth felt in the air of Kerala, the desire to drop the things and visit people, traditions of different parts and imbibe them.. such a great desire but unfortunately cannot fulfil it to the fullest, but “Do in Rome as the Romans does” is really a nice effort atleast to give a little satisfaction to that desire.. and you look very cute Prince Charming
I would like to congratulate you for contributing to the Nobel cause…One who is capable of should always do it..and you have very well realized it and you always lend a helping hand fr the needy… and if this way everybody realizes their actual duty acts accordingly then the world would be a peacful place to live…Here I also mean the Media..who can show guts and change the world, they can be the right people as they have the strongest weapon, but unfortunately that does not happen, may be circumstances, the desire to stay ahead in race and some kinda pressure might be stopping them to actually play the correct role. Anyways the story is Easy said then Done.. so I stop saying more in this regard.
And regarding the “love line”, we almost all the members of extended family wait for it…most of the times your love lines makes us feel happy, comfortable and secure with your love, sometimes makes us tickle our head and @times leaves uswith a note of the unknown sadness or loneliness of you heart.
Whatever it is, surely we admire you for all the ways you love us.
Love you today, tomorrow and Hamesha
Have a peaceful slumber and a great day in the morrow.
Take care
Rasika

Dear Amitji,
It looks very elegant (I hope, I spelled right)- this new dress- Munda- . I know how dhoti is worn, but I thought, there is “knot” to tie alongwith weraing around the waist. i did not know, it is just held by your “muscles” of abdomen- I do not think, that would go right with me!!!! -Would be scared of “loosing the dhoti” in front of all. It was a remarkable observation by the radio host about your “love sign off” at the end of the blog- I had noticed it, but not realising it was different everyday!!!- again, you proved your remarkable humble love for us.
Hope to see your “yellow lines” again.
love and more…

1)
Sad but why ?
Can’t India stand against it ?
Oscar in 30 Days
Short Film (Live Action)
Kavi
Gregg Helvey
“An Indian boy and his parents are forced to work as slave labor in a brick
kiln.”
Why
But WHY
Only this type ???
Does India have nothing else which they want to show, promote ?
Where is the Real India ?
2)
PAA
Auro,
Whats the plan for Oscars ?
NONE
It will be pride for India but is it worth the costs and American politics.
Sad but reality is,
appears America is losing its grip, was predicted and is becoming true .
Customer service is getting worst by the day, economy, politics in bad shape
God Bless US.
India should make itself stand taller than expecting others to appreciate.

Sir
I used to be your fan and defended you in many debates and discussions very strongly.
And I am very sad to say you lost one of your fan and reduced ur respect a lot to me and many more like me.
You should not be coward and selfish. Take a strong public postion on current shivesena vs SRK issue. Not for you not for SRK not for bollywood but for the country you live in - India.
Hope good sense prevail and you live up to expectation this time for your father for India.

The way you write about your observation, experience and response to different states
of Bharat is great. May you continue to get inspirations from Bharat Mata and spread them
through your creative expressions, be it ‘words’ or ‘acting’.
Your vision connects us with ‘that’ which is ‘glorious’ in a unique way.
Your sense of humor lightens up the ‘pressure’ of ’situations’ that ‘emerges from nowhere and apparently for no reason’ in the nation, for ‘those who understand’ and also for those ‘who don’t understand’.
May we continue to strive for that ‘unity’ which is inherent is us and is a part of our ‘collective consciousness’.
with lots of good wishes and thanks

Namaskar!!!
You look so adorable in dhoti. We are watching promos of Teen Patti and it looks very different.
I agree with what has been said of your blog. Your writings inspire us and are what we yearn to read all day. Hopefully you will keep us enlightened with your wisdom.
Love you…
Dear Amitji,
I missed out on “yellow lines” y’day- will you please send me one if you have time to do so?
i did watch “Teen patti” ’s promo on AVS today- looks very promising. Will be awaiting the release of the movie.

dear amitji,
greetings, sir, ur looking great in the pictures with the dhoti, it would be indeed novel if u could u live in different parts of our country and try to imbibe the culture of that place, no wonder our motherland “India” is unique in its diversity, yes resul deserved the oscars for slumdog millionaire and getting felicitated in his own hometown by u must be special, kerala is god’s own country, i am sure that ur reciting “Babooji’s” poem’s at today’s aman ki asha program in mumbai will go a long way in promoting this noble initiative of peace between India and Pakistan , hope u get some good rest tonight, sleep well and do take good care of urself,
regds
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
You look gorgeous ! I’m happy you still have strong muscle on your stomach
because with nothing to tied that dhoti, the accident can happened !
And you know what ? even I don’t try to imagine, it is too much !!!!!
Always I look for the end of your blog, because no matter how and what you write on your blog, for me, how you end the blog let me know in what “mood”
you are ! And I’m not wrong , because later I can put together some things
from trusted hews (If I can say this) or from following blogs !
When you are in south , you are different and the same when you are in Paris !
These are my opinions ! I wish you to be happy everywhere and forever !
Thank you for pictures and thank you for the “reason” you wrote back !
My love for you is the same everyday ! (I’m not so poetic, but I am honest !)
Have a safe trip !
Love,
e.t.
Dear DON,
we want to see u with Aamir,Akki and with ajay.
hey valorie i am so happy for you ,its raining gold for you

If you are correct, than I really think that Mr Bachchan should make amends for this cultural ‘faux pas’ by posting a photo tomorrow with the appropriate (or even better wildly INappropriate) bare chest and munda!
With love and happy imagination, Daisy
Namaste Amitji
you are pure but with Dhoti you also feel pure.
I have this experiance when I visited a temple During my Kerala tour where every one has to wear dhoti to enter inthe temple.
I love you as always….. I am going thru some personal crises and facing some seriouse situation for my loved one so I am not in regular touch with you but when ever I get chance I catchup.
With God’s blessing black cloud passed away and just passing grey clouds.

Amitji and all FmXt: Valorie, as I went back to read Amitji’s yellow line to you on the previous post, I realized that my stalker is back and writing comments pretending to be me. Amitji, I see that you have been reading the comments since yesterday, so I want to bring this to your attention: this has been going on for a while, a particular man takes great pleasure in taking on various identities and writing nasty comments about me and lately, while posing as me. It is because I had once protested against his unacceptable anti-women remarks on the blog. Very sad, some people love their nuisance value. I just want to say to you, Amitji, and to all the EF that if you find something offensive and abusive written under my name, please know that it is not me — it is the stalker pretending to be me. All of you know me by now, so distinguishing the real me should be easy. Just ignore evil and focus on the good.
Love and regards, to you Amitji, and to all FmXt here,
Jasmine Jaywant

Did you visit Kovalam beach . It has backdrop of high mountains and coconut trees.
It is a frightening sight during the high tide. The state of kerala is rightly called abode of Gods–the people are well-disciplined and highly religious. Eating meals on banana leaf gives pleasant satisfaction.
The keralites will remember your eventful visit for long long time.
you came –you saw and you conquered –a great achievement indeed!
Dear AB
You look very cool in the “mundu” as it is called ..not munda.
Thanks for the lovely descritpion of Kerala i wish i could also visit it, someday definately in future, i am privileged that i have visited 17 states in India and proud of each one of them. Would love to visit each part of India and know it as you so well described.
Watched RANN today and loved the movie and your performance was outstanding, especially the monologue in the end, your eyes conveyed so much without a word. I wish the Indian news channel would learn from it and implement changes in the way they reported news. RGV has coem out with a good movie after a long time. Loved Ritesh’s controlled performance and Sudeep acting, he looked so much like you. Loved the dialogues and the songs..very thought provoking and true. I am happy that such good movies are being made with powerful messages.
Happy Bday to Valorie!
love u loads

***AMIT @ 50***Thank you…and just so you know? I AM having a blast!
***PRADIPTA RAJAN @ 56***No need to ‘imagine’ me ‘dancing on top of the world’
my dear girlfriend…it’s not your imagination…I really AM dancing up there…
***ANAMIKA from DUBAI @ 58***I completely AM thrilled! He knew it was my

’shy or retiring’…let’s just say I started dropping hints about…5 months ago.
Then…with a little help from my precious FRIENDS over the past two days…
He kinda couldn’t help but remember it was my birthday…although he didn’t have to acknowledge me at all…and yet…he did it…IN A BIG WAY, HE DID IT!
I’m thinkin’ he doesn’t do stuff any other way…
***ANAT @ 60 & 75***Indeed, I AM very blessed tonight…and you are an amazing woman, Anat. You ‘thanked’ Mr. Bachchan for telling me Happy Birthday…If I could get to you right now, Anat, I would hug you so tight that your bones would ache…I love you so much.
***DAISY @ 61***Same goes to you, Daisy…you thanked him for the
‘golden bounty so generously bestowed’…Hopefully, I’ll be seeing you this Spring,

Mr.Bachchan,
I was elated upon reading a response to my comments. Thank you very much. I know that replying is daunting considering you are so busy.
The dhoti aka munda seems to suit you. I do prefer you in a black suit. Enjoy the stay in Cochin.
Sujata.
Namaste Mr. Bachchan,
Your pictures are awesome!! You can wear any type of clothing and it looks nice on you! Hope you are enjoying your trip!
Best wishes,
Proud to be a Bachchan Fan!!!!

Is it true that aishwarya has done naked photo shoot for penthouse magazine in 2005 and charges 2.7M$ for that,i have got this photo today from my frnds, and after searching on google i got it at:http://www.indiadaily.com/editorial/2723.asp
The way you have described the dance, I believe I have seen it performed in a NYC gallery.
It’s too bad you cannot stay in one place long enough to completely absorb that experience. Perhaps one day you can do that tour of your own country and I’m sure the people of every corner would be most welcoming to you. It often happens that the citizens of a country have seen less than most tourists because they are so busy with every day life.
I have never seen a Malayalam film but after your praise of the acting, I’m sure I’m missing a special experience. I hope you like the script enough to agree to do a guest appearance.
The best of luck for your project on Monday.
Love,
Rochelle

I truly love reading these affectionate posts about the ‘South’ from you. As I was reading this post I thought it would be nice to see some pictures and these promptly followed below. Great going! If I’m not mistaken some years ago there was a rumored project with you and Priyadarshan to be shot in Kerala. I always rued the fact that this didn’t come about. of course you then went to Munnar for Nishabd but hill stations despite their beauty tend to be a little generic at times.
Dear AB
After reading your blog about standing up for what wee belive in and support, by making our opinion known I have taken a stand to support SRK and so have started this group.

Just AS u Said Sir,
THE TIMES OF INDIA
HEADLINES-Aamir, Big B to work together
When Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan turned up to mourn Aamir Khan’s
father’s death, the younger actor expressed a desire to work together.
“We went across to Aamir’s place and spent time with him and his family. Tried to keep the atmosphere light and cheerful. It was pleasant. As Aamir came down to see us off when we left his house, he expressed, ‘We must work together sir…’ I told him to direct a film. He has such talent for it. He nodded (in) approval,” Amitabh posted on his blog.
Aamir lost his father, well-known filmmaker Tahir Hussain, Tuesday morning.
Amitabh also expressed his grief on the death of yesteryear actor and producer Sujit Kumar.
“Sujit Kumar passed away early this morning (Friday)…When life ends it takes along so many moments of the past in quick succession. All those memories of time spent together, the films
, the locations on outdoors, the camaraderie, all gone in one swift cruel move. Condolences and prayers for his children and family,” posted the actor.
i missed a yellow line once more but i am happy for those that had one.love you sunshine.
pradipta.
Dear Amit Sir,
I cannot resist myself today without leaving a message you. Its really a treat to watch you in the traditional kerala attire, with the mundu, and again with the all time favourites of keralites (mohanlal, mammooty and resul). You look so elegant and graceful. Seems like the you are the favourites of all those done south, like in rest of india.
With lots of love and respects

I WAS UNLUCKY TO MISS THE YELLOW LINE BUT AM HAPY FOR ALL THOSE WHO DID RECEIVE IT. I AM SURE MY TURN WILL COME VERY SOON, DEING IN THE FIRST 20 COMMENTS SEEMS TO GIVE ONE A BETTER CHANCE!
YOU LOOK GREAT IN THE “DHOTI”, YOU CAN WEAR ANYTHING AND GET AWAY WITH IT, HOW DO YOU DO IT?
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT, I LOVE YOU.
SLEEP WELL
LOTS OF LOVE (as always)
YOUR NO.1 FAN FROM UK
Dear Uncleji,
It is great to see you in the traditional attire of our South Indian brothers ! It is indeed a wonder that a single piece of cloth can be worn with such skill and dexterity, but there is always concern that it might lead to embarrassment if an “accident” occurs !!
Anyway, Uncleji, I saw that you posted your privileged yellow lines to many but I was amongst the unfortunate who just missed the first lucky posts… They mean life and death to me Uncleji - if, if and if I manage to get a simple response, I will be the luckiest and most honoured person ever…!
Hope you do post a yellow line some day, Uncleji…
Sincere regards,
Sandhya
Dear Amit uncle,
Looking wonderful in a dhoti!
will be waiting for all your different love you’s!
Love you lots,
Joti Dhillon
Dear Amitji,
How are you? Sir, I was just looking into the News channels and was very disappointed with issues happening with SRK, why don’t people like you grouped together and save this country, you all are educated people and country likes you. If people like you will not take initiative, so what people like me, a 29 year old young guy can do, that means we should live a scary life and accept it??
May be you will not read this, may be it will go in 100’s of messages, paar I gave my honest opinion.
Regards,
Anuj
‘Asalayyitunduto! - bhesh!’ It was wonderful seeing you in mundu and shirt. Such a simple attire yet so elegant and you with your height and dignfied manner carried it off with even greater aplomb! Thank you - you made my favorite attire for men even more dear - My dad always wears mundu and kasava jubba (silk kurta) and I simply adore it. My ‘bitter’half is from Mangalore and although, the mundu is also frequented by the male members of that community - somehow just like his native language Tulu that does not sit easy on his lips, his mundu too never sits easy on his hips. He also frets that while enjoying the ‘air-conditioned’ feeling of the ‘double mundu’ he might be so ‘cooled’ down that he may not realise, how ‘uncool’ is sight for those around, if the stitch of cloth that hides his modesty floats down to his feet in a white cloud of starched cotton. I hope you enjoyed my Keralam, the land of simple, hard-working, enterprising people. Of Kalabam sugandam (chandanam), mulla (jasmine), nellavillaku (brass lamps) and thiruvathira kalli (dance that the ladies perform during the festival of Onam). Of backwaters and vallamkalli (snake boat racing). The land that gave the world, the mother of all martial arts - the art of Kallari - Kallari paitu. We have a slogan that fires the soul of every malayalee -
Bharatam yennu peru ketaal -When you hear the name Bharat
Abhimanpuritham aganam antharangam - Your entire being should be suffused

I miss my Mumbai, I miss my Keralam, I miss my India!
My Dearest Mr. Bachchan,
iam glad you had an enjoyable time at the event of the felicitation, and loved your photos in ‘dhoti’. very nice and traditional.
a couple of years ago i attended a show of an Indian traditional dance in the opera house which had been organised by the Indian Embassy. it also was expressive with the eyes, the hands and the body movement. i wonder if it is similar to the one you enjoyed at that event. but it was a wonderful experience watching it.
actually, i wish you had elaborated on this matter which you referred to in the blog few days ago, because iam not sure whether i was able to understand
but i will be looking forward for the brilliant people of the blog to come up with their elaboration.
yes, that is a right observation by the lady about the ‘love line’ on your blog. it is always different, even today you included the lovely ‘munda’…
it was nice seeing your yellow lines to many FmXt.
and i wish you all best of luck with tomorrow’s event..
sleep well and enjoy sweet dreams dear Mr. B
with my love to you…

Dear Amitji,
Namaste
thank you so much for the lovely description of Kerala. You look elegant in the dhoti. You are making lot of us aware about different parts of India, culture, languages and the arts thorugh your writings.
The aman ki asha was also beautifully done. The feelings of love and tolerance will always be stronger than the forces who want to divide us on the basis of language, religon, provincial basis. In the end we are the God’s family- ‘vasudev Kutumbakam”
With best wishes

Amitji,
It seems I missed the yellow line once again. Please oblige.

Dear Amitji,
You look divine in your white pristine dhoti! Don’t think I’ve seen you in that attire before and you have certainly given all the ladies here such a thrill just seeing you in those photographs! Thank you for the explanation.
How lucky and happy for many who saw the yellow lines on the previous blog but sadly none for me, maybe next time a small ‘hello’…
The observation made by the lady at the Radio Station about your sign off ‘love line’ was quite remarkable and astute but please don’t feel conscious of it, it’s the feeling in your heart that is expressed and we love you dearly for it.
Please have a safe and comfortable flight back home and take care.
With love & affection,
Brenda

My Dear Mr Bachchan
Hope you are having a good time. Thanks for sharing those lovely photos. You look dashing in your dhoti, infact anything you wear. That is what my brothers and other male relatives would wear on certain ocassions.
India is truly the most exotic,My aunt is visiting there presently and in an email she wrote there are no words to describe how it feels, you have to be there to experience it.
I enjoyed reading your description of Kerala, and all the happenings, they are so clearly and beautifully expressed. Most of all the kathakali dance form,as you mentioned,is truly mesmerizing.I have some on DVD.
The media is always taking keen interest in your every move and sayings,so your ending ‘love line’ of each of your post, however, is bound to be noticed.
We the FmXt do appreciate all your different love endings…they are all special for us.
Well, its wonderful to see so many gold strips after a long time…nice that you made so many FmXt happy.Since it’s the 8th its my birthday today,If you have time kindly wish me,if not i understand and shall remain contented.
Have a great day.

It will be better if Padmashree Mammootty also in that funciton.
Mohalal and Mammootty are the two living legends of Malayalam film world as actors.
We think you have discussion about to act in a Malayalam movie soon.
best wishes from http://www.seethephoto.co.cc
Very nice gesture Mr.Bachchan! Looking good in Lungi, Kanduva is missing though!
Amit ji
Perhaps you could have signed off with a full line in Malayalam (english translation for others including me ofcourse). “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”. You blended in really well. You are truly natural wearing that dhoti/lungi however look a little cautious when getting up in the second last photo in case you stumbled on it. I know the feeling. I watched your movie “Family” on Star Utsav on Saturday night. Brilliant acting Amit ji.
Love you lots

Hello Sir,
I am Jeet, and I am a student studying in Nottingham, UK. I was facing a huge dilemma prior writing this letter to you, but finally I decided to write it. I was anxiously waiting to see your film Rann at the cinema. But unfortunately it is not showing at cineworld, Nottingham. I had to forcibly watch this film online. I do understand that many factors must be affecting while distributing a product like this, but I would like to make a small comparison, Rann is now showing at Luton which is very near to London, it has very little subcontinent population as compared to Nottingham, then why isn’t it showing here in Nottingham? Sir, please forgive me if this seems like ‘chchota munh badi baat’. Its just that I wanted to see this film on silver screen.. Thanking you.. Wishing you all the best and loads of love…
Pranaam..
Jeet
Dear Amitji
Saw RANN yesterday !! Its just great ! Thanks Ram G V.. I cannot comment on your acting as I will be short of words….India needs more such films in current situation….
Love you

Hi Mr. B. My internet service was spotty yesterday due to the 32 inches of snow that have blanketed this small town, so I read two days worth of blogs today. Your dhoti is beautiful. I know you don’t want to hear “beautiful”, but as a fibre artist I love the fabrics that are made in your country. My son in law presents me with saris on every occasion because he knows how I treasure them. He wears a dhoti on occasion but never in front of me due to the possibility of “slippage” that you mentioned. His father wore them in front of my daughter until a “slippage accident” when she saw more of him than a daughter in law ever wants to see, so now he wears sweatpants. You look very nice in your dhoti. Very Nice!!! Love and admiration, Mary Anne
Dear Amitg,
Looking dashing in dhoti…ab lage hatho ek mallu film bhi kar hi lo….

Hello Velorie,
I wish I could have seen the comments of the EF yesterday. I too missed wishing you on your Birthday. But I join BigB now to wish you belated birthday. May you enjoy all the pleasures and happiness in your life ahead. You are really very lucky as I have never read BigB giving compliments to anyone in the beginning of his comments. Remain on Cloud Nine as long as you can.
It is great that the first line of Big.B is devoted to you and rest of the comments almost also have your name. Please enjoy the moments and thank the God Almighty. Such moments are rare in one’s life.
My best wishes,

Dear Amitji,
Great dress sense from the view point of being ‘propah’. In fact come to think of it you could have done that in Chennai too ! You look swashbuckling
Discovering the airiness and what holds it in place for this dress code was hilarious
The intent behind opening the floodgates of sermons for the ones ‘who dont understand’ is for me pushing the envelope. The ones who dont comprehend are that way because they dont want to and not because they dont. Remember the attempts to wake a person pretending to be asleep?
Your dream of being with people and discovering them, theirs and oneself in that process is in itself a blueprint to peace and bliss. It is mischeif that you mock at reality as if you have not been doing it already.
You are right that kerala cinema is a harbinger of a genre of movie making that is very little fantasy and al ot of drama from real life and yes literacy is a major component of that status. The similarities of Kerala to Bengal will highlight the truth behind this trend. This also puts on the notice board why some nations are where they are and where some want to be and still arent there. Education of the right kind is the password
The variety in you signature love lines are the inspiration behind my end lines the difference of course being the originality behind them
End Line - Children are how man can be God
Teacher Debbie Moon’s first graders were discussing a picture of a family. One little boy in the picture had a different hair color than the other members. One of her students suggested that he was adopted. A little girl said, ‘I know all about
Adoption, I was adopted..’
‘What does it mean to be adopted?’, asked another child.
‘It means’, said the girl, ‘that you grew in your mommy’s heart instead of her tummy!’

On my way home one day, I stopped to watch a Little League base ball game that was being played in a park near my home. As I sat down behind the bench on the first- base line, I asked one of the boys what the score was ‘We’re behind 14 to nothing,’ he answered with a smile.
‘Really,’ I said. ‘I have to say you don’t look very discouraged. ‘
‘Discouraged? ‘, the boy asked with a puzzled look on his face…
‘Why should we be discouraged? We haven’t been up to bat yet.’

Whenever I’m disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott.
Jamie was trying out for a part in the school play. His mother told me that he’d set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.
On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement. ‘Guess what, Mom,’ he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me….’I've been chosen to clap and cheer.’

True Story: An eye witness account from New York
City ; On a cold day in December, some years ago: A little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering with cold.
A lady approached the young boy and said, ‘My, but you’re in such deep thought staring in that window!’
‘I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,’was the boy’s reply.
The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.
She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel..
By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks… Placing a pair upon the boy’s feet, she purchased him
a pair of shoes…
She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him.. She patted him on the head and said, ‘No
doubt, you will be more comfortable now.’
As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears
in his eyes, asked her.
‘Are you God’s wife?’
Yours as always

Respected Amitji,
Sirji.. May i with ur permission, wish our dear friend please …
Valorie .. I am so so so happy for you. U the crowned queen today. May the lord give u lots and lots of happiness and prosperity.
Thanks a lot sirji for bringing in names of our EF in your post time and again. It is like our Life-time achievement award!!
Sirji.. The best of best pics u have sent!!!! The ‘munda’ or the ‘dhoti’ or the ‘panche’ in kannada looks realllll good. You just fit correctly in any and every attire. Look at the poise in which u walk, u stand with ease in that attire as though u have worn it for ages!!!. Sir ..i felt that u have pinned ur ‘panche/munda’ near ur right knees .. just it case it does not open up !! No need sirji, they take care of the dignity of the master who is wearing it and never let it down. You have given so much respect to that attire, so they will never let you down!!!!
I am so happy that the function at Kerala was short sweet and useful and u enjoyed ur time with Mohanlal and Mamooty. would love to watch u in Mohanlal’s movie!!! Great work by Resul.
Your endline-love was well observed by the RJ!! Ture it has different colours but the fragrance remains unaltered!!
Same here sir..
Much more love to you and with pranaams

Do you know how to look at comments that are from a previous day? Surely you
must, but I can’t tell from what you’ve written there in your comment # 164… So just in case you don’t know how to do it, here are instructions:
Go back up to the VERY top of this page…look directly beneath Mr. Bachchan’s photo of him sitting in the chair, with his right hand up in front of his face, do you see that? Well, just beneath that photo you will see two blue numbers…
Please…do go back and read the comments when you have time…I want to share my happiness with you…it’ll make me even happier…if that’s at all possible! No…on second thought, that is not possible…I couldn’t be happier!
Today’s number is 657…I shall never forget it…and above that is a smaller blue number…DAY 656…click on THAT number and you will get yesterdays
post and comments…and you can just keep on clicking on the previous day’s number and read that day’s post along with the comments that go with it.
You will enjoy all the comments from Feb. 5th and Feb. 6th…we had a
‘virtual birthday party’…and a very good time was had by all…the night ended with me and Mr. Bachchan dancing on top of Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Patel’s
motor home in the parking lot of where the party was happening…
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Congratulations on the fresh addition to the variety in your wardrobe. You looked really cool in that mundu, I guess it was the air-conditioned effect.
Regards,
Melwyn
hi sir,
thank you very ,uch for posting this pics on your blog. as people like me sitting out of india would not be able to see you in this new avtaar. anything you put on becomes a style, so today u mught have converted many people in to wearing lungi’s instead of shorts and tracks. u r looking great in that lungi. one more thing, thank you very muchfor what you said about we having a lot of talent and rich culture in india. actually youngsters this days dont know that much about it, but by u putting it in ur blog atleast few thousand is aware of it now. so please keep up the good work by spreading this awareness.
love u lots

Dearest Amitji,
Namaste.
I missed the sunshine yesterday…… No yellow line for me as yet .
Amitji, you are so adorable in the mundu…… Handsome as always. Love you and more.
Love always

Dear Amitji,
Today I am so happy to read your blog, because you are writing this from our “God’s Own Country” Kerala. And of course you look so elegant in ‘dhoti’. I have never seen a ‘Malayali’ wearing the dhoti so elegantly, being a Malayali myself. The malayalam word for dhoti is ‘Mundu’ not Munda as you mentioned. Munda give different meaning altogether.
So Amitji, i would request if you could correct the spelling in the sign off Love Line to ‘Mundu’ because I consider that you are dedicating today’s blog to we malayalees.
Love you for ever..Shaji

up to a certain extent we can control it
with plantation of trees
WE SHOULD NOT ONLY SAVE JUNGLES BUT WE SHOULD ALSO INCREASE THE AREA OF JUNGLES.

EACH CITIZEN OF INDIA SHOULD COME INTO THIS MISSION FOR A GREEN REVOLUTION 2 OF INDIA.
SIR I AM TRYING MY BEST TO CONTROL THE GLOBAL WARMING AND I WANT THAT INDIA SHOULD BE THE FIRST COUNTRY TO TAKE AN ACTION OF THIS TYPE TO CONTROL GOLBAL WARMING
dear sir
u r the living legend and u have always lived life with dignity self respect and honour but there are few people in your film industry who have no love for the country which gave them name fame wealth and love. what are your views on TRAITORS AND ANTI NATIONAL PEOPLE LIKE SHAH RUKH KHAN.

sir, have you ever tried singing a south indian song .try someday a few lines .Although i do not understand the language but i like the music which is very soothing to the ears.
Have you shown the movie to bala sahib?

Actually, the phrase is “When in Rome(Do As the Romans Do)”.
I was too busy watching the Stardust Awards with Alka to notice that you had replied to more comments including mine. Thank you so much for taking my joke seriously. And yet more congratulations from me to you and Abhishek for winning for PAA.
There was a definite appreciation of the munda here today.
I will do as the southerners do and say ‘night y’all.
Tomorrow I cross the Mason Dixon line.
Love,
Rochelle
Mr Bachan,
You should wear dhoti more often suits you perfect.
Dear Sir,
It was great to see you in Munda! Thanx a lot for the pics. Sir mnay times I have written to you in the blog appreciating your different ways of signing off, so the lady from Radio Mango wasn’t the first to notice that! In fact I get curious everyday to see not only what you write about, but also how you sign off. I have a separate file in which I copy paste all those unusual sign offs & wow, it’s a long list! Sir, just see what all crazy things your crazy fans can do for you!
Crazily your’s,
With love & best regards,
Vidya S.
dearest amit ji..
being a member of the FmXt, i believe i can ask you a question about aishwarya ji
i visited this happening place Esselworld y’day (7th feb), n while returning with the joy all on mind i saw a film crew a kilometer away from Esselworld entry gate.
Though i had a slight glimpse of actor and actress shooting in a vintage chevy,
i confidently told my friends that it was aishwarya ji (i couldn’t recognize the actor as he was wearing a weird wig)
if you can just confirm, that it was aishwarya ji shooting at that outdoor location
(on 7th feb @ around 5 pm) i’ll be really thankful to you
with lots of love
niranjan
Dear Amitji,
It was a surprise to see you wearing ‘mundu’ ..
I am sure you would have struggled to hold it tight.
But once you get used to it , it is a comfortable one.
As correctly said by you , its a fully airconditioned attire.
Thanks for giving that surprise and for recognising the culture & tradition of the people of the region.
It shows that you really care for people & their values.
Warm regards,
A mundu fellow….
Dear Amitji………..Adab
We all learn to walk as Aarami toddlers. When we are young, we walk only when there is a need. If not, we can pretend to fall or just could lay flat on the floor! As adults we are trained to walk decently. To be a successful Aarami, you need to follow some basic principles to walk the Aaram way 24/7
1.Never live alone, because then when you need something you can’t ask someone to get it for you.
2.No matter how close your house is; public transport is at your beck and call for a reason! Use it to boost the economy.
3.Stop crowding already overcrowded metros. Don’t go out, stay indoors!
4.You can order everything home from pizza to groceries at home. There is no need to step out.
5.If you feel like getting some fresh air, go on your terrace and take a nap.
6.If your doctor advises you to walk, try this technique: Lie flat on your bed and flutter you legs up and down. Do twenty repetitions and take a 5 minute nap in between repetitions.

Dear Saroj, wish you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Where’s the party tonight?
I hope you have a great day, and may the coming year bring all good things for you: good health, happiness, success in all you do, and peace of mind.
Ramanathan: Alas! But I don’t wish this on anyone, so won’t ask for anyone else to be the chosen one! Lovely comment and amazing end line, as ever. I just truly enjoy reading your comments. And I’m so happy to see my very dear friend Valorie so giddy with joy. She truly deserves this happiness and recognition.
Here’s hoping everyone has a wonderful Monday.

Hi Mr. Bachchan
Let me confess, you look awesome , handsome & really cool in Munda, I seriously believe you should wear it more often.
I saw Rann again on the weekend, I loved it even more than the first time.
ido want to elaborate but I am in a hurry at my work place so shall do so later.
The RJ at Radio Mango was so right as she pointed out that ur sign off line is always so different, so sweet, but I keep mine the same so that the identity remains the same & u know its the same person
Take care
Love & regards
Anu Verma
Dear Sir,
Father’s genes,I must say
(with all due credit to mom too). Your usage of ‘Munda’ for the word ‘mundu’ was …hmm..how should I put it ?? …Iam not getting a suitable word…
She sometimes exclaims - I saw everything inside my father’s Munda!!!
The mistake will be corrected soon as she learns malayalam better, but now ‘munda’ will remind me of her innocence as well as you all the time
This is my first visit here.Just came out of curiosity to see what’s all this hype about big B’s blog. You do write very well
The reason I said this is - my 4 year old daughter Meghna also says ‘Munda’ for dhoti
Love, luck and sunshine,
Deepa
Dear Amitji,
This could be one of my favorite posts to date. Words in praise of my home. The appreciation of our art and culture, our literacy, our people, our actors and their masterful acting skills. Not to forget, the brilliant publicity for the mundu! You have worn it with such style and confidence and all by the sheer power of a strategically placed ‘knot’!;) You look hot in all the pics and I like the color of the stripe that runs down the length, its a rare shade… You could have done the ad for Kasavukada or Karalkada!:) Thank you for the lovely pics.
On a lighter note, Amitji, dhoti is ‘mundu’. ‘Munda’ sounds like Punjabi for boy…;) Just kidding.
Love you…mundu, veshti, dhoti…and all,
Aishwarya.
dearest amit ji
i have heard of this phrase ‘do in Rome as the Romans do’ in a little different way which means the same,i found it really interesting and would like to post it here for our FmXt
“Roam in Rome as romans roam”
lots of love,
niranjan
Hi Amitji,
You look kool in Dhoti.
Take care.

Kerala and your presence over there and your feelings of rejoice in dwelling into the culture and moreover the spread of a sense of being an Indian though hailing from any corner of India is a most importent message to the dividing forces emerging .Our culture is great and has ever given the message of brotherhood to all listening souls.Jai BHARAT Mera jo apna hai Kashmir se Kanya kumari tak ake fulon ke guldaste ki tarah.Sabhi bhasa dharm sanskriti kee mahak se gulzar hai mera mahan Bharat[INDIA] ,SALUTATIONS TO THEE.Thanks a lot Amit Jee.
Dear EF,
Valorie - Congrats, dear! Your proverb reminded me of another one in Hindi - Bhagwan jab deta hai, chhappar phad ke deta hai - When God gives, he gives in abundance.:)
Ramanathan - Thanks. I am a wee bit tempted! Let’s have Sudhir and Vijji back and bring on the masti! Propah is kinda boring!;)

Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
It was a very long Sunday for me here..
And brightened by the joy and happiness that your responses to us always bring ! : )
Thank you for your time and your generosity and kindness…
*
You description of kathakali dance is so beautiful, precise and lovely. I wish I could see it performed by the dancers from that region.
And it was so nice of you to visit the felicitations for Resul Pookutty. And you both participating in charity from the kindness of your heart.
Kerala looked like a very enchanted place in your film “Nishabd” - that is from where I can remember it. No wonder it is called “God’s own country”..
What you wrote - “But as always, just when you begin to enjoy and sink into the land, a departure takes place and we are soon away from it all. Perhaps a little too soon.” - sounds like the story of my life throughout the recent decade… : ) Quite tough emotionally I should admit …
But I believe that traveling is quite different from moving. It is rather a happy and positive experience, because - there is always your home awaiting intact for you to return…
*
It is so esthetically rewarding to see you wearing dhoti or munda. And all those peculiar details of the way it is worn… You look very very nice on these pictures you kindly posted.
*
You wrote in this entry about one of the previous posts that - “Whereas there were many that did understand, there were some that did not.” I do try to comment accordingly to my understanding. Often I am not sure and just try to express something good of my thought on the subject. But being so far removed and disconnected from your environment and being of a different culture I can only hope that what I write can be of any use to you…
There was an increased amount of misspellings and typos in my comments recently. I can’t see them when I write. Sorry about that too ..
*
Yes, all the different ways of you saying ‘i love you’ every day in your signing off line to us are beautiful and meaningful, always noted and deeply appreciated. At times it just feels too emotional to comment directly on it …
It is time for me to go to sleep to prepare for another long day tomorrow..
I wish all go well for you at the event today..
God bless and take care.
Much love.
Tatiana S. USA
Amith G .. u look class in lungi
looking great in dhoti
Hi Sir,
First off, you are looking fantastic in the dhoti. Despite being one nation, India comprises enough different cultures and traditions that could be in essence the background of many different countries. It is so intriguing that it is able to blend all the elegant differences into unity, into India. With its diverseness, it would be such a lovely task to visit each corner of the nation and embrace that wide array of culture and not to forget the beautiful landscape. The scare of the dhoti falling is always there, but if the confidence in wearing it is there then there exists no fear.
Regards and Love,
S
Amitji,
it’s funny noting the characteristics of airconditioning effect in “mundu”. I still haven’t left the habit after living here in Sydney for the past ten years. By the by “Munda” ( if the first 3 letters pronounced as in sun ) means Idiot !!! Nice try….
Have a good one…
SaiRam.
Respected Amit ji

Mr. Bachchan, It’s 11:30PM on February 7th, 2010…I don’t want this magical
day to end…but I’m falling asleep…and I have to get up at 5AM for work
tomorrow…I have 3 more friends to thank before I go to bed tonight…
***DEVKISHIN-JI @ 103***I just now saw your message there, Mr. Yvas.
Thank you for warning me about how ‘excessive excitement can cause
sleep deprivation’…it’s certainly has kept my heart rate elevated today!
Mostly, Mr. Yvas, thank you for calling me one of ‘Mr. Bachchan’s women’…
that honor I will take with me as I slip under my comforter here in a minute.
***LYUDMILA @ 105***Thank you, Mila, for crying with me and for being so happy for me…I always wondered what one of your ‘warmest embraces’
would feel like…now I think I know, and it felt really nice.
***VENITA @ 108***Thank you, Venita, for the kind birthday wishes!
***DAISY @ 94***I whole-heartedly agree with you that Mr. Bachchan should make every effort to correct that ‘dhoti faux pas’ by including a photo of himself without the offending shirt in tomorrows post…maybe that will be
my NEXT wish…heh…heh…heh…
Mr. Bachchan, I cannot imagine a more enjoyable way to spend a cold, rainy Sunday than with you…It’s been so much fun…Thank you, one last time, for this lovely, magical day…I love you more everyday that I know you…
Te amo…J’thaime…Ich liebe dich…mein tumseh pyaar hai…those are the only other ways I know how to say it…I hope you can feel my love for you.
Good night…kind Sir.
Dear Amitabh,
Hearty congratulations to see you in Chennai and next day in Kochi, Kerala!
You move faster than air and have the energy to be at the best in all glittering functions.May God give you the renewed energy and grace day by day so that you continue to be the real Icon .
After seeing ‘Kathakali”in Kerala, you got to understand the intricacy of the traditional art of Kerala as the eyes speak all about the emotions meaningfully . Thats why it is acclaimed globally.
One more request as I did earlier: Never forget to greet the Keralites on the Onam festival in your blog. This year it is on 23rd August, the very traditional festival, every Malayalee celebrates irrespective of the caste, creed, poor or rich- not only in Kerala, all over India and across the oceans. Hope you would keep to remember it!!
Best wishes on your venture into acting a Malayalam movie! All the very best!
It will be historical and the bars set at high levels of excellence.Accept only a full living role, no guest role please.. Another “Abishek” on your glory!
Regards,
Ranjit
I just saw “Paa” last night.
Only one word for “Paa” …..Excellent!
Thanks for your effort to let us proud of being an “Indian” even though we are living outside India.
Golden lines in “Paa”
1. The one who hurts suffers more than the one is hurt:
2. The previous to previous to previous MISTAKE !
Dear Sir..

Mr. Bachchan,
That’s a “mundu” not a “munda”. Subtle but essential difference - the first is Malayali and the second Punjabi!!

dear amitabh my love,
I wake up a wonderful morning of joy and happiness, I see you sent me a yellow line,
It makes my life happy.
You’re just lovely, you think me a lot and you make me a great happiness.
Thank you for your attention you devote to me and everyone.
Your photos just beautiful and exciting, you deserve the best in the world.
Love you to no end,
Sima Fadida - Israel.
Dearest Mr Bachchan,
One more interesting observation: You are the No. 1 actor in Hindi film Industry and Mohanlal is No. 1 actor in Malayalam industry. So its interesting to note that you have a slant towards left (shoulder I mean) and Mohanlal too has a slant towards right!!!!!
Two legends and two similar charecteristics!!!!!
Regards
Pradeep
HA HA HA HA………..
U have nicely described how to wear a dhoti. As a Bengali, I am accostomed with this dress and as U know Bengali grooms have to wear DHOTI on their wedding day………. it really looks beatiful. but the stle is different from Keralian style. They wear like LUNGI………….. Hope it was in its place all the time when it was tied on Ur waist………… he he he…………….
U look totally different and sometimes change of custume brings refreshment. but where r the ladies in the pics????
Will get back later
Lots of Love
Tumpa
Extremely cool Mr Bachchan!! Really appreciate your taking this effort
btw, for ppl who may not know, there is a BIG difference in “Mundu” and Lungi. Lungi is more like PJs one wears at home and bedroom where Mundu is usually white/cream/golden and a formal wear
Balle Balle Valorie, kya baat hai, This was a real special b’day, i am sure you are very very happy…..
Love and Regards,
Vandana Bhatt, Dubai, UAE
Hi Mr Bachchan
Thank you sooo much for that special yellow line.I feel so happy.Haw haw.
You are looking absolutely stunning in that dhoti(actually lungi).Adorable.
I agree that exploring our country is essential as there are so many different crafts and culture which we know but haven’t experienced it personally.
There is no other country in this entire world like ours.
I have been to kerala in 2000 with my family and we went to munnar ,a really beautiful place,so green and full of natural beauty.
The TV channel lady made a very good observation .You always have a special way of ending the blog.I loved it when you said once ‘ Love to you my lovelies’.
Take care
Love & warm regards
Priyanka.
Dear Amit ji ,

Respected Sir,
Good day.I wish bring a new trend to your knowledge.
Seems Some film makers have developed a technique to create a controversy just before release of their cinema and provoke certain organisation to retaliate against their film. This gives free publicity for the film. All this was very subtle till Shahrukh khan new controversy.
Shahrukh khan is owner of an IPL team
He does not pick up a Pakistani player in auction
Pakistan reacts to non inclusion of Pakistan players
Shahrukh khan comments relevant and irrelevant: Pak players should have been taken and his family is from Pakistan
Shivasena reacts and attacks theatres showing My name is khan and film gets free publicity
India including Rahul Gandhi and RSS walk into trap of Sharukh and fight it out
Or may be Shivasena gain lost ground against MNS
Loser is nation.
I am surprised that not a single journalist asks Shahrukh Khan:
“MR Khan, you are owner of an IPL team and why you did not pick up one player? And now why you raise hue and cry?”
3 idiot controversy,Karan Johars Mumbai vs Bambai controversy may fall into same category.
Kindly can you advise journalists and editors to be careful and not to walk into trap? Or investigate if this is another form of paid news or manufactured news? Or at least ask your reporter to ask above question to Mr Sharukh?
Kind Regards,
Rajshekhar Bhujang
Respected Sir,
You look absolutely stunning and so different in dhoti but must admit that whatever you wear, suits you perfectly.
Take care of your health and sometimes I just wonder whats the source of your nonstop energy even at this age where not a single day passes through without doing nothing .
And before I sign off ,just a simple wish which you only can make true:A yellow line with a couple of thoughts..
Kaushik
Thank you dear sir, for making us Keralites feel sooo proud… The mundu suits you. Sir in English it is written as “Mundu” not “Munda”. But it’s OK. You look absolutely great.
Hello mr. B,
I am a bit late today due to a contingency that arose in the last min.You look very nice indeed in that outfit and it reminded me of ur days in “Saudagar” though in a diferent context.I am sure yu have made dear Valorie’s day for her entire life and am so happy for her , a wonderful person that she is.That was a surprise gesture and a very magnanimous one too.Should spring such ones to all of us in turns!!Regards and love.
Conratulations to you my dear Valorie !U deserved that from our mr. B ,infact it was long overdue for you no?

Namaskar Amitji,What a visual treat for our eyes to see you in a traditional attire of kerala.you look so dignified ..the other day we had a traditional day @ our doctors forum and i saw many doctors in traditional attire ,they all looked awesome and kuwait really felt like home away from home.Hope you enjoyed the company of South indian cinema greats mammoty and mohanlalji.Resool must have be overjoyed as well.the pics are really great…waiting for TEEN PATTI..pen down more on this.
You have made Valorie’s day…nah her life and she’ll treasure this day all her life and may be generations to come.loved the way you treat your EXTENDED FAMILY.Kudos to you sir…..love vikas
53 susheela,
I loved your comment. What I know of Kerala is what I have read in books and what I have seen in movies, but what I little I know has fascinated me. I found Arundhati Roy’s book “The God of Small Things” incredible, wonderful both in the way it was written and for the story it told. I can thank Satyam for turning me on to Malayalam movies, and I have totally enjoyed every one of these that I’ve been able to get my hands on and watch.
I felt a little sad when you called yourself an “outsider.” I think in some small way I can understand how you feel, because although my parents were both American, I grew up in another country until I was seven, and for many years I felt like an stranger in a strange land after our family first moved back to America. That feeling has never entirely left me.
I am thinking from what you wrote at the end of your comment that you now live in Tennessee, and that does seem worlds away from Kerala. I can imagine the nostalgia you would feel for somewhere that is a part of you, but so far away and so different from where you are now.
But, on the other hand, I guess it is the magic of the movies and of this blog that can make us feel kinship for one another and for the different countries and states of our diversity, a bond that helps us “think out of the box”, outside the lines, beyond the borders. I like the way one of my favorite writers Pico Iyer writes about this…that this is not so much being an outsider as it is being a vital part of something greater than a single state or a single nation, of being a citizen of the world. Please know that for me you are not an ‘outsider” but a fellow American, and I hope that for you I can be considered a fellow Indian, since I love your country and so many things in it, including “our” beautiful Mr. Bachchan. He is for all of India, but for us on the blog he is for all the world. Instead of that white globe from “Paa” I would rather visualize the earth, the way one sees it in pictures from outer space, a beautiful multi-colored sphere with no boundaries, but with all those beautiful, different colors that swirl naturally one into the other.
Thank you for your beautiful comment, Susheela.
Love and regards,
Phyllis

Hello Amitji;
I have read ur blogs daily, and admired at the use of the language that conveys the message aptly.
This is in response to the blog that you posted about the media’s proactive nature, and very sincerely, you spoke what happened to be in my mind.
I am not sure if I am right by speaking about the issue here, but I did have a few questions in my mind as to whether:
It was necessary for the media to ask SRK to comment on that issue when it had already been settled that none of the players were bid for, and there would be no Pak players in this year’s IPL, I mean, what is the point in asking him to give a comment after all has been done ? (Incidentally none of the journalists cared to ask him why he himself did not bid for any !..I guess that would have spoilt their headlines !)
Secondly, SRK’s actual response to the pointed question, and what was conveyed thru tickers and splashes were entirely different - here we could hear him saying, “They are the best players of T20, but somewhere down we have an issue with them and what would have been correct is to let them know before bringing them on board.” Also, “My family comes from there, and I would like to ask you, you are youngsters, would it not be better to circumvent all that has been said by the politicians, and just believe that they are good neighbors and we are good neighbors and we love them and they love us” Now what was shown on screen in splashes were “PAK PLAYERS BEST IN T20:SRK”, and “PAK ARE GOOD NEIGHBORS:SRK” and, “WE DHOULD LOVE PAK:SRK”, and the most ridiculous one for which I believe SRK shud sue the media - “I AM FROM PAK:SRK” !!
As soon as this is done, they rush to the Thackerays, knowing very well that they have a problem with impulse control and shoot this question about Pak and SRK, and the Thackerays (true to their style) say that if SRK loves Pakistan then he can go there - and the next headline appears “SRK WILL BE SENT TO PAK: UDDHAV”, Uddhav says SRK shud not betray the country by praising Pakistan when we have a problem with them - and the next headline appears “SRK IS A TRAITOR:UDDHAV”
The media is playing the role of the monkey in the fight between two cats - and every attempt by the aggrieved parties to clarify their stand only leads them more into the quagmire.
I agree thoroughly with you observation that this may have more to do with the number of channels that have crept up, and the max time given by a person to the channel to prove that they are interesting enough for him to view it is 1 minute, and they are compelled to give some Breaking News to hold the audience captive in that 1 minute - but in this race for TRPs, what we sacrifice are a few morals, which is not being realized.
The media needs TRPs, be it thru an Aarushi or a Ruchika - thru a Jessica or even thru a Paris Hilton - the end result may be a chaos, but then who cares ??
Dear Sir,
Namaskar , I have been regular reader of your Blog ,just looking through the pics of today i noticed a ring in your small finger ,I checked and came to understand that you are always wearing a ring in your little finger ,is it you are also supersitious ,as we have heard that ppl in India tend to wear different ornements for getting good omen , Are you also once of those.

my first comment.
Hullo Dear Genius,
What a nice post for Monday morning… specially for Valorie…and equally nice are the pics with the traditional attire and the classy footgear peeping through !!!
So true, about Kerala, ….with its backwaters, its wild life sanctuaries, its Kathakali, sea food and !!!! “ God’s own land “ as it is propagated for tourism ….but why single out Kerala??//something I haven’t been able to figure out all these years . I guess , best to leave it at that. For India, is a repository of diverse cultures, traditions, belief, languages, costumes, handicrafts, architecture and landscape…so I would be unfair in trying to vie one against the other…I love all , from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari… as I believe, most of us do so , on a macro level.
Yes the traditional saris for women are truly classy , something to be part of the wardrobe : a subtle combination of cream colour with gold thread border and pallu…am sure Jaya ji would cherish them.
Dear Genius, “Understanding “ is so personal! And as is commonly said “to each his / her own”.
For example : once in a while, staff come and start explaining a construction drawing to me > I find that strange and tell them “construction drawings are meant to be self explanatory , so if there is a need to explain, then it is deficient” ….. but the same cannot be said in terms of literature / writing….it could be difficult for someone to comprehend , so explaining it really makes it lose the essence. So, your decision to not elaborate it is quite fine.
Affectionately.

Great post as usual. You look amazing in lungi.

Belated birthday wishes to you. Congratulations on getting birthday wishes from AB and that too in the first line and first word. No body can miss it. I simply love your excitement. May you live 1000 years and each year may have 50,000 days. Today’s post and FmXt’s comments seem to have made this day as Valoriefied.

Dear Mr Bachchan,
Thanks for the wishes but i think by mistake you have wished me instead of my daughter Neha…i had asked for your blessings for her and her second production. But never mind thanks once again.
You looking cool in lungi!

Dear Mr. Bachchan,

My dearest Amithji,
How are you ?
When I started reading the blog, I was hoping that you would have posted some pictures! & lo-pronto!!you have!!! You look soooo handsome in the southern attire! you have made , all us southerns very very happy by wearing the ‘lungi’ or ‘mundu’ .
I tried my best to get an invite to the ‘Bandra fort gathering’ by contacting the TOI office, but it is yet to materialise. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks sooo much for the heavy downpour of yellow lines! But boo-hoo for me, cause I did not get any reply from you this time
:(
:(
:(
Right now watching the promos of ‘TEEN PATTI’ you looks awesome as usual. This is one movie I am very eager to see. Especially so, because you have acted with Sir BenKingsley.Should be very intresting.
Take care,
love you to death,
regards,
kalpana kakade
Thank you Amitji for the pictures. You look amazingly dignified in our ‘mundu’. Our guys are very comfortable and would do all sorts of gymnastics wearing it. Some of my cousins who are used to ‘mundu’ shares wearing ‘pants’ feels tamed…
Agree Mohanlal and Mamootty come across so natural and deep as persons and actors. Wonder if the nature around gives them the grounding.
love you
Ann

Dear Amitji, Good Afternoon. The simple one hour function makes it that much professional work and action packed. It is like a well edited script and crisp execution. Munda looks very comfortable and lovely too. Agreed the beautiful place you visited mesmerised you but seeing something for a short while is also good fortune.
Rasool wants to give back to society from his hard earned success also speaks about his kind heartedness. One is inspired by such humble persons and feels like doing something more in life.
Your signing off always is different in each blog due to creative mind. Infact each blog writing itself is entirely different each day. We enjoy the variety of subjects and also the words.
My regards to all those film technicians who enhance the performance of all artists. Sometimes people behind the scenes never get due importance and exposure but they are very much responsible to give shine to all performers.

dear amitji
you were looking marvellous in mundu (not munda, please)..you would have looked much more handwome if you had rolled up the sleeves a little more..
but did a great thing indeed..by the way, ladies at home loved the sarees?
warm love

Dear valorie Adams!
You are all over the blog today! You are definitely ‘queen of the day’
I am so happy for you . Amithji, actually wished you on his blog! You truly deserve it. Congratulations!

Dearest Amitji SIR!!!,
Tonight you wrote “So, I wear the dhoti or munda as it is more colloquially known for the evening and I think there is an appreciation of it.”
Well, I wasn’t there where you were to see how folks appreciated it in god’s own-Kerala, but I can say from reading the comments so far (and I’m not even halfway thru them) that you have certainly stirred up an appreciation on Bachchan’s own-blog —
The guys are all concerned about the way you tied it up, but the girls, I think, have concerns that move more in the opposite direction…what’s blowin’ in the wind, sir, is a bit more than just air conditioning…and it’s coming from all those Femme-XT sighs tonight, as they collectively contemplate your dextrous use of stomach muscles, not to mention the pristine glamor of that oh-so-cooling dhoti! (Daisy, it’s all your fault, you started it! heh heh) Anyway, I haven’t felt this kind of breeze since the day you told us about your R&R in that hammock. There’s something about you and the tropics, sir…
So! I think this calls for a poem from Valorie. I exhort all my fellow FmXters to consider this petition…and join me in asking Valorie for a new poem on the dhoti!!!!
And as for you, sir, you are thing of beauty and a joy forever! (the boy can’t help it!) In more ways than one. And for those of you who understand, and for those of you who do not understand, ” Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know..”
Long live the dhoti!
Phyllis
Dear Amitabhji,.
You had mentioned a few days back that ———aap yelow lines ki jhari lagane wale hai.
kab?
vandna bhatt.241———Thanks for your greetings which i heartily reciprocate.
lots of love and
warm regards,

Please, Valorie! “Ode on the Dhoti”!!
Pretty please!!???
We don’t care how long it takes!
Just take us there…
as soon as you can!!!
Love ya (and more!)
Phyllis
Very nice pics Sir, you are looking good….
Regards
Pratyasha
My dearest Mr. Bachchan,
Thank you for these pictures you’ve posted here for us today…..whether you wear a mundu (I’m afraid it is spelt ending with a ‘u’ rather than an ‘a’, and is pronounced mund’e'…with a soft ‘e’ as in…rosEs maybe..?),or a hoodie or a band-gala/shervani or a tux or are just in your shirt sleeves, you look so handsome and so ….d i g n i f i e d!!! Imposing would be a more accurate word though! I am aware of this traditional ensemble because of our honourable HM, PC! The only politician whom I’ve always admired for his propah demeanour!
Mohanlalji and Mamooty are people I keep hearing of so often, and recognise them to be the stalwarts of the South Film Industry! Yes, humility is their trademark….infact I have seen Mohanlalji in a couple of Hindi movies. Kamal Hasan and Rajnikant are ofcourse old favourites. There’s one more, Dr. Nasser, who played a double role in Jeans…I admire him too…..!
I am glad that you liked and appreciated the Mohiniattam….I am extremely passionate about Indian Classical Dance Forms myself, though am unable to execute any steps as of today! And it is so becoming of Resul Pookuty to be giving back to society this way! After the Government, the only hope for succour our lower strata has is from people who have the wherewithal to set up such Trusts. And it is a foregone conclusion that you my dear, would not be far behind in lending your support to the cause as well! And ordinary, common people like me, and I am positive that there are hoardes of us, are willing and capable, to undertake tasks on ground, as volunteers, teachers, caretakers or whatever the duties assigned to us! And more importantly, I suppose in the absence of a sensitive government, it becomes imperative for able and well-heeled citizens to reach out and do whatever can be done, to give support to those who need it.
Regarding the statement you had made about those who understood and those who didn’t…I shall have to backtrack a little and read it again…now that you have mentioned it today, it should be interesting to see what and how much of it I understood!!
And now before I leave you, I would want to thank you, from my deepest within, for your precious address to me yesterday! And since you took note of my shortened name, and used it, may I hope that you would address me thus in the future as well…am being unrealistic I know, expecting you to remember, but then, you are full of surprises, so am taking my chances here! Thank you so very much once again, for ever holding us with so much love and warmth!
Much love and blessings,
Ever and always,
Kashmira
May I please address our EF now, Mr. AB…thank you!
My dear Saroj, here’s wishing you a very happy birthday today! May good health, happiness and abundance make a permanant home in your life and may you always live in good cheer alongwith your loved Ones! Amin!
Daisy M, my dear, thank you for your warmth and cheer….I express my happiness too, for all those who were lucky to have Mr. Bachchan stop by their comments and acknowledge them! I hope now that the remaining get his precious gold band under their comments in the next round! Blessings to you as always dearie!
For Valorie Adams: Val sweetie, receiving Mr. Bachchan’s good wishes for your Birthday was undoubtedly, the crowning glory of all your B’day felicitations. Blessed you are and may you always remain so! It is a wonderful feeling to see you so full of mirth always…it’s envigourating!! Sending you loads of love once again….

Dear Amitji,
Thank you for the lovely pics of you in the airconditioned ‘Mundu’, what a lovely gesture on your part to ‘ when in Rome, do as the Romans do’. Is there anything
that you don’t look good in?
I am happy that most of FMXT received the coveted yellow lines, I didn’t receive one, but never mind, I’m just glad that the RESPONSES are BACK…YIPPEE.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could indeed visit every part of our beautiful Country,
I have never been to Kerala, whenever we come to India we always try to visit a
different part along with Mumbai and Delhi. Must admit though, I have had the greatest pleasure to visit Tirupathi, the flight was supposed to go to Chennai but was cancelled so we had to go to Bangalore instead and travel the rest of the journey by car. A great friend organised the whole V VIP experience for us, the plane was waiting for us at the airport because the flight to Chennai was cancelled and we were going on the Bangalore flight instead and we were stuck in traffic in Delhi on the way to the airport.
Just a few days left before we fly to Mumbai. How do I arrange to meet you?
God Bless
Love and best wishes

Phillis (PB) from Texas 281…. my dear, I think you will find that our beloved MR BACHCHAN was the one who started it…. I was merely trying to make my comment topical and relevant to his concerns of the Day… and you will note that several paragraphs and a lavish photospread were devoted to said (and hugely admired) dhoti/munda… it would have been ill bred NOT to offer an encouraging and supportive comment
With unabashed love, Daisy
hey valorie congrats, its raining gold for you, truly deserve it

India heading for a big defeat in Nagpur Test Match.
Dale steyn is almost unplayable on this wicket. If Sehwag could score century against superlative bowling attack of south africa on this wicket, he must be a genius. It requires extraordinary skill to play Steyn’s fast off cutters on Nagpur wicket.
South Africa has enforced follow on and India will be required to bat again .
Without Dravid,Laxman and Yuvraj the Indian batting side looks vulnerable.

Dear Amitji,
Your yellows of the y’day on one side bonded this family tighter but made the residual EF like me green
Humne aisa kya paap kiya hai ? hum AApke hain Kaun ? Kuch nahin
Many have pointed out that it was a ‘Mundu’; Munda (lets get punjabi) was the guy inside it
Your response to some negative comments of yesterday while not new, were eye openers to the staunch belief sets that you come from. Satyam has the architecture of this viewpoint but as usual (also from realistic self realisation) I would react from the layman ‘bird’s eye view’ of the positioning that you choose in the wake and peak of controversies.
I can see truth in your firmness
) ;
Sirji no one repeat no one has been able to transmit the casual diplomacy of this white dhoti as you could. Coming from a south Indian, you know that the comparison covers a lot of images
of not being on the wall;
of your deep understanding in always putting the issue in front of the person;
of not being mesmerised by your charishma which is a reality;
of being privy to hordes of life and lifestyle databank thanks to the orbit you ovalise in and still sparkle with thoughts only at the perigee and epogee (the farthest and nearest points {to EF} for the uninitiated);
of NOT being constantly eager to commercialise your fame and persona the moment such situation obtains;
of avoiding the pitfalls of huge footfalls and eyeballs that occur in your daily life (that was pleasantly rhyming ! must be the infection of the day being close to Valorie’s birthday
of the attempt to be righteous and follow the heart WITH the mind from a total understanding of ones responsibility to the society and community ;
of being humble and intelligent enough to learn and move forward from earlier experiences without cowing down from the guilt / self pity /regret;
of loudly voicing compromise in a world that has mangled this word to mean weakness whereas this actually continues to be the secret success of progress;
of being bewitchingly lovely in an air conditioned dress
Yours as always
Ramanathan
Sharmila - Your review of Rann befits the work. The red herring in the story line is the fact that an honest and straight forward media person CAN bring the govt. down and he continues to be important enough for the schemers in the system to revel in their occupation
First I would like to correct - it is not ‘munda’ but ‘MUNDU’. It looks cute. Practice wearing it. It is the most convenient attire. Yes, we have plenty in India but little appreciated. Not explored enough. We stop at cities. Rural areas have much more hospitality and charm.

Dear Amitji,
I committed the cardinal mistake of not attaching an end line to my comment @304. Here goes
End Line -
There were hoardings all over Bangalore announcing the 10K Run. The moment Arun saw the advertisement, it reminded him of a 70 year old vibrant looking man sharing his experience of having participated in the Chennai Marathon and how good he felt about it. Arun thought why not give it a try; after all he was half the age of the 70 year old man. Arun immediately attempted 50 metres and to his embarrassment, he was gasping heavily for breath at the end of it. The incident revealed to him the condition of his health and fitness.
That day itself, he decided to take up a health and fitness regimen. He joined a gym and started practising various fitness methods. After being a regular to the gym for a few months, he started feeling very good about it. He came to realise that any illness would not only be painful to him but also a pain and nuisance to his loved ones for no fault of their own.
Arun decided to participate in the 10K run and started practising and watching his diet. Exactly a week before the Run, he went down with severe cold, fever and throat ache. But he stuck to his decision to run. With a bit of uncertainty and lots of courage, he went to bed the previous night.
The next morning found Arun at the stadium, geared up and raring to go. The venue was packed and with thousands participating, in the beginning one could not run at all. Arun could only walk. When he crossed the 5 km milestone, the crowd had thinned. It did not matter to Arun how many were before him or how many were behind him. He was with himself and enjoying the run. At last he reached the finish line in 55 minutes. “Yes I did it!” he exclaimed. He wasn’t the first person to reach the finish line, but he felt a victor anyway.
There were some significant lessons Arun learnt from his experience that day. He jotted them down in his diary to remind him all through his life:
One’s health and fitness can always be improved from wherever it is today and the best time to start is now.
One’s health is important not only for one’s own sake but for the sake of his loved ones too. No one has the right to make their loved ones suffer.
Life is also like a 10K run. Great breaks are possible for those who participate, not for those who wait in the pavilion.
One should stay focussed on reaching the Finish Line and not get distracted by comparisons along the way.
The only way to excel is to compare one’s current performance with his own previous performance and strive towards further improvement.
Yours as always
Ramanathan

Dear Sir,
Like you said to Rakhi in that beautiful movie BEMISAAL:
“लाल पाड़ की इस साडी में कितनी ख़ूबसूरत लग रही हो तुम…”
“Laal paad ki iss sari mein kitni khubsurat lag rahi ho tum…”
I want to say someting similar to you:
“केसरिया पाड़ की इस धोती में कितने ख़ूबसूरत लग रहे हैं आप !”
“Kesariya paad ki iss dhoti mein kitne elegant lag rahe hain aap!”

Dear Sir,
As much as I have to catch up with, I have as much to tell you. So here we go…first things first.
You have done it Sir! You really have! You wished a happy birthday to Valorie! Hurray!!! The very lucky (well she is now) and most deserving lady had been wished by so many of the FmXt on her birthday but something was still missing. We all kept glancing behind to check on that one awaited wish from someone she loves so dearly…she has been waiting most patiently and almost driven to tears at times. Pain hidden beneath the humour. She continued to pour her love into this medium. She lived in hope that one day it will come and when it did, it brought an avalanche of more wishes. Everyone rejoicing for her. What an atmosphere! Happy for you Val.
Phyllis wants a poem on dhoti…the girls on the blog are going to be giggling all day long…First I was overcome with tears for Valorie and then more tears from laughter as I read comments from the girls about the dhoti…will come back to that later.
Next - Rann! I saw it! You might recall me saying that I was going to see The Performance. The reason I put it that way was because I had thought the film itself was not that good. I must admit I was surprised. You were right. If the film was about the media world, it was more about conspiracy. The truth is I enjoyed it!!! You could not have done it better! Ritesh in a serious role was a pleasant surprise, I think all actors performed well. If there were one or two things that could have been done better, they are irrelevant.
Day 656 -
“When I do good I feel good
When I do bad I feel bad
That is my religion”
A need for this quote and the message it sends to be embraced…more so now than ever before. Sadly it will only work for those in whom conscience is alive.
You state FmXt is the reason you exist…all Great Men/Women talk like that. They carry this quality - humility. I hope that this interaction you share with your fans has brought you as many benefits as it has to us.
More to follow on the next post.
Love,
Daksha

Thank you for taking us along to Chennai and Kochi (the present and new name for Cochin). Your Dhoti reminded me my visit to Padmanabha’s temple at Thiruvanthapuram. I along with my wife visited the temple in the traditional dhoti and saree purchased just outside a stall. I doubt if you could walk comfortably with that dhoti around. Could you tie it independently or someone helped you? Anyway, nice to see you in that traditional attire of the south.
I have been blessed with a grand daughter on 1st Feb. The parents have decided to name her AAROHI (taken from the word Aaroh - the ascending order of notes just opposite of Avroh (notes in descending order). I liked the name very much.
On arrival of AAROHI, I, her grandfather has composed the following poem in free verse:
Har ma ki zaroorat hai beti
Jisme Udel Sake voh bahut sari Mamta, Pyar aur Dular
Jo Paya hai usne Apno Se
Ab Tak
Beti, Jo Kar Sake Us se Chauka Chulha Sanjha
Aur Sun Sake usme Anugoonj
apni hridya-tarango ki
Jo Utha karti Hain uske Grahsth ke
Samudra-manthan mein.
Beti - Jisko De Sake Ujjawal Oonche Samskar
Bhar Sake Usme
Laksmi Ka Akhand Aishwarya
Saraswati Ka Nirmal Gyan
Aur Durga Ki Aseem Shakti
Taaki kar Na Payen Usko Vichlit
Jag Sangeet Ke
Aroh-Avroh
Dhanya Hai voh Brahmand Sundri
Sushmita Sen !
Jisne Apna Lee Hain Do-Do Betiyan
Kar Liya Hai Apna Jeeva Sarthak
Aur Lagi Hai
Brahmand Ko Aur Sunder Banane Mein.
Hope you find time to read it Sir. Aarohi and I will be very happy to be blessed with your good wishes, if luck favours us.
With warm regards,
vishan lal

Phyllis 306 - DELECTABLE summing up! (And thank you for sparing the cat’s delicate sensibilities)
Now tell me, why am I finding it impossible to concentrate this morning… LESS flirting and MORE working missy
Dated:8.02.2010.
Dear Amit uncle,
Welcome back to land of Chatrapati Shivaji……….Maharashtra ……..the son of Emperor Aurangazeb..is Shivaji Maharaj……..history is written by classes for Masses……….the fact is in the remains of Aurangazeb in bibi ka Makbara…….who by the will of almighty brought up him in the midst of commons and made him chatrapati……..by the sons of soil………Land of almighty is……………………..globe called Planet earth……..But bible says ……….
In regards to the land that God has promised Israel, Genesis 15:18 declares, “To your descendants [Abraham's] I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates.” God later confirms this promise to Abraham’s son Isaac, and Isaac’s son Jacob (whose name was later changed to Israel). When the Israelites were about to invade the Promised Land, God reiterated the land promise, as recorded in Joshua 1:4, “Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates — all the Hittite country — to the Great Sea on the west.”
With Genesis 15:18 and Joshua 1:4 in mind, the land God gave to Israel included everything from the Nile river in Egypt to Lebanon (North to South) and everything from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River (West to East). So, what land has God stated belongs to Israel? All of the land modern Israel currently possesses, plus all of the land of the Palestinians (the West Bank and Gaza), plus some of Egypt and Syria, plus all of Jordan, plus some of Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Israel currently possesses only a fraction of the land God has promised.Speaking of the nation of Israel, Deuteronomy 7:7-9 tells us, “The LORD did not set His affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath He swore to your forefathers that He brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commands.”
God chose the nation of Israel to be the people through whom Jesus Christ would be born—the Savior from sin and death (John 3:16). God first promised the Messiah after Adam and Eve’s fall into sin (Genesis chapter 3). God later confirmed that the Messiah would come from the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 12:1-3). Jesus Christ is the ultimate reason why God chose Israel to be His special people. God did not need to have a chosen people, but He decided to do it that way. Jesus had to come from some nation of people, and God chose Israel.
However, God’s reason for choosing the nation of Israel was not solely for the purpose of producing the Messiah. God’s desire for Israel was that they would go and teach others about Him. Israel was to be a nation of priests, prophets, and missionaries to the world. God’s intent was for Israel to be a distinct people, a nation who pointed others towards God and His promised provision of a Redeemer, Messiah, and Savior. For the most part, Israel failed in this task. However, God’s ultimate purpose for Israel—that of bringing the Messiah into the world—was fulfilled perfectly in the Person of Jesus Christ.
let the message go to the world that history is made by legends like you,,,,,best wishes for your RANN in Real life and Reel life..
With Munda you are………….simply yourself
love……………………………..you
Shivaji

Amitabh Bachchan to act in a Malayalam film, Kandahar
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan will star with Mohanlal in a Malayalam film based on the hijack of an Indian Airlines flight to Kandahar in Afghanistan in 1999, the movie director Major Ravi said.
The veteran actor held discussions in this regard with Mohanlal and Ravi in Cochin last night.
Ravi said that the story of the film, presently named Kandahar was narrated to Bachchan last night.
“Bachchanji was engrossed in the story and after hearing it said I am doing it,” Ravi said.
The shooting would begin by June, July or August this year as per Bachchan’s convenience, he said.
Bachchan would be playing the role of the father of a hijack victim and his portions would be shot either at Mumbai or Delhi airport. He would be appearing in the second half of the film and has a ‘meaty’ role’, Ravi said.
On the other actors, he said he was on the lookout for a young Tamil actor. Earlier, it was reported that Kamal Hassan will be acting in the film.
The female artist has not yet been decided, though it could be Ananya of Naadodigal, who played the role of Nallamma in the Malayalam film.
Ravi has directed films like Keerthichakra starring Mohanlal and Mission 90 Days with Mammootty.
Earlier, while addressing a gathering here, Bachchan was asked whether he would work in a Malayalam film, to which the actor replied, ’somebody will have to make an offer to me’.
DEAR AMITJEE,
Conscience is the light that God has put within us.It is the voice of our self, against which we can not argue,we can not put any logic to disagree. We all submit to our conscience. Our character is incomplete projection to outside world which varies with different condition and situation. For example,if I say,I am honest to the money related matters, the question automatically comes to what amount of money I can remain myself honest. But if I submit to my greed,my conscience will allways say that I did dishonest work.
If our character is completely in line with our conscience we will be God.We will achieve Nirvana.
This is my personal opinion.
Best Regards,
Shyam Sunder

Dearest Amitji,
As usual, as always, like every mornings, I was enjoying reading your post alongwith the wonderful thoughts of Gods own country-Kerala that the memories of the ‘green-carpet’ landscape, breathtaking no. of palm trees, lovely houses, regional dances, the spread of delicacies during harvest festivities came rushing through the mind and then as I was landing from Heaven to earth that is when suddenly I was again lifted above to the heavenly sight that my eyes remained wide open for few moments to see the elegant traditional munda personality – our truly - matching the elegance of the Gods own country. Air conditioned at all times. I am not sure if the sales of A.C has been effected, but I am sure the ‘munda’ sales would have definately gone up alongwith the ongoing increase in sales for R &T. As they say in Hindi on seeing someone exceptionally beautiful , it goes something like this as during remember college days-Remember? Bhagwan ne unhe fursat mein banaya( God has made this person in leisure)
Love you in ‘munda’ and love for the ‘munda’ love. And to those who may be taken aback by the ‘munda’ it also means ‘boy’ in a loving Punjabi style.
Love
Mario
Dear Amitji,
Must I say, you looked as elegant in a Kerela Vaishti as you do in just about anything you wear. I do agree with the fact that managing a vaishti is extremely difficult infact I have seen few of my cousins wearing a belt on their waist to keep it in place but managing it without one is an art . Raghav sends his hugs to you, there was a class photograph at his school today, he was very excited and was dressed to kill in the morning! Does not have a uniform at the moment since he is in Nursery, so can take the leverage of flamboyancy when it comes to clothes. I was overwhelmed seeing your reply and it was most definately a co incidence, speaks much of children like Raghav who love you immensly. They do it with a sense of purity which is unbelieveable at times. We love you very much. Raghav wants me to write a line for him, ‘ Raghav loves You’. This is funny but he addresses his name before saying anything, he hasn’t started using, ‘I’. Take Care Amitji.
Lots of Love,
Gauri.
Amit ji, Tussi great ho, you look so nice even in dhoti, hats off to you.

Good evening sir,
Malayalam film, Mohanlal, Amitabh sounds very interestimg,
then you can have a longer stay in kerala that time with the shooting.
In todays indian news and media culture, the sad part is that no one can have
a candid talk about anything with, who want to break some or the other news.
Its all commerce,
“Maine shanti nahi maane hai”
must bee on your way to bandra fort, with your poems and aman ki asha,
‘munda and shawl and all’
have a nice time by the sea side,

Dear Amitji,

Jasmine Jaywant / Valorie Adams,
Thanks for the messages / comments. I am greatly delighted to read today’s post and the Birthday Wishes for Valorie by Amitabh Bachchan. It’s wonderful and a memorable event to have this and hence his blessings. I unfortunately missed out however I hope Valorie had a great day and is still floating. I understand the champagne may have had something to do with it.

Dear Sir,
You look great in the ‘mundu’ .

Amitji,
It’s been long since I posted anything in this blog. I think the motto of any blog should be inform and educated rather than being cryptic about whereabouts and purpose of action. Moreover, presence on the Web is not harmful, barring a few stray e-mails considered spam which obstruct your work; unless technological changes require a clear-cut authentication. We wish you good luck in your next movie Budha. Is it an action thriller unlike in the past? I wish this blog well a meeting spot in advance instead of being a headache!
–Srikanth
Good afternoon my dearest Mr Bachchan,
Hope you arrived back to the bustling city safely.
A lovely portrait of your cultured evening in the South you do have a meticulous eye for detail concerning art and culture, considering the extreme brevity of all your travels.
I distinctly recall you expressing a ‘hidden ambition’ to travel through India a while ago and I was thinking about that yesterday. Perhaps some reality TV guru could create a ‘Life on the road’ with Big B kind of adventure documentary, as we, your faithful viewers travel with you as you unlock the beauty and cultural splendour of each state. Who better than the nation’s insignia to execute that privileged duty. People of any walk of life warm to you instantly and you embrace new cultures so perfectly well.
The endeavour would take care of your underlying wanderlust as well as create a fresh on screen challenge for you to relish and absolutely no need to drop anything because it would be a working excursion. You must admit life on the open road would be a refreshing respite - with still more unrestricted air conditioning - from the precincts of the small, stuffy studio’s you are forced to suffer everyday. I think a soul searching stint of travel would be so exciting and enriching, rejuvenating for you. I hope my little television day dream comes to fruition; if only so you can continue this fashion parade for us.
Love you, love the shirt, love the dhoti (I thought munda is the Punjabi word for a boy too), but not so much as an ensemble I’m afraid. Of course it looks beautifully elegant and refined on you, anything does; I just wonder whether another style of top usually compliments a dhoti better than the conventional shirt. I will endeavour to find out. But thank goodness for those 6am alarm calls for the gym that have contributed to your most impeccably robust six pack - otherwise we might have been reading ‘all revealing’ scandal stories of an entirely ’unique’ nature this morning.
I am sure more artistic culture awaits at this poetry recital at Bandra Fort. I’ve just read that it related to Aman Ki Asha project, which seems to be gaining a lot of positive coverage recently. As I said yesterday, you will surely mesmerize your audience as ever.
The very best of luck, hope your energy levels are holding up and enjoy it. Take care my dearest Mr Bachchan.
Love you the munda in the dhoti,
Jasmine

A huge round of applause from all of us who were not fortunate enough to witness great moments with you and Rasool. We have followed your meteoric rise from Saath hindustani to Paa.( By the way our very own malayalee actor and stalwart Madhu was also a part of Saath Hindustani ). Here’s wishing you all the very best and hoping to catch a glimpse of you atleast the next time make a trip God’s own country.
Sandhyaa.
Amit Ji,

You carry off anything and everything in equal ease & elan.
I agree with the lady’s observation on your sign off line..
Love and a lot more !!
Arun
I am so happy to see you in one of our traditional outfit….. Lungi……….
Kudos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
will wait eagerly for the malyalam film (though I am maharastrian !!!! )
Well, its seems you did a little more than contribute ‘in kind’ to the opening of the medical centre, perhaps your sweet humility prevented you from declaring it, which would not surprise me where charity is concerned.
Regarding your anxiety about being understood, I wouldn’t be concerned now Mr Bachchan, those who wanted to understand would have deciphered your meaning with some thought. If you have not been horribly misrepresented in a terribly unjust way as yet, then I would say your mission has been accomplished. I did say the other day, you should retain some reserve for your own sake. Besides which you must also retain some of your illustrious ‘mystery’ I suppose!
Do hope the poems you recited, perennial favourites or otherwise, lit up the hearts and minds of the elite audience at Bandra Fort as I my imagination tells me they will have! Hope you are enjoying the exquisite evening. Its one I am eagerly awaiting footage of.
Your love line is the most anticipated area of your posts, I just wish the mic thrusting reporter hadn’t made you conscious. The words should come from the heart.
Please take it easy tonight, the past few days have been so incredibly busy, yet again.
How do I love thee let me count the ways,
Jasmine

May I wish you Belated Birthday Greetings with warm wishes and God’s blessing to you.

Hello! Thank You so much for Namak Halal. Was it tour idea to name your character ‘Dashrat Singh’ in Bunty aur Babli ?
My father has these photographs of your visit to the Republic Day Camp. 1986, I think. There is one where Abhishek is holding an aircraft model.
Please come home for a meal.
Bye.
I visited first time ——”your beautiful blog site” and am terribly impressed. Earlier I have heard about your blogs in radio, t.v., or newspapers, now is my first time visit to your blog. Please keep it up. I have just retired from service on 31st of January 2010 as bank officer and am a fan of yours since the very beginning of your career– I think perhaps it was “SAAT HINDUSTANI”. I have seen ” PAA” also. I like your blog as it is refreshingly alive with entertainment and information. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND YOU LIVE LONG.
With deep regards, leaps of well wishes, I felt after reading your blog ( the very first time) that having acheived a lot, you are still missing a lot.

Dear Amitabh,
I had never seen the dances you refer to and was pleasantly surprised to find several examples of the kathakali on YouTube. You’ve added to my education.
You look dashing in your new dhoti.

In last blog, YOur system to give feedback was very good!!
Though I didnt bet yellow line but I am very happy that you have spread your love randomly every where!!!
And one day i too get yellow line!!!!!!
Dear Sir,
I had saved a comment earlier for this post using my technical expertise and now cant find it! I shouldn’t have saved it, I should have submitted it. But I wanted to add a bit more to it…dear me.
So pleased to know you enjoyed your stay in Kerala. I do hope you managed to get a body message for your back pain…Kerala is world-renowned for its massage techniques. Techniques that are passed on from generation to generation… as is the knowledge on herbal medicines. If only one could break free from the commercial environment. Kathak dances…yes the very graceful dance movements…its unique facial expressions and the eyes..isn’t it amazing how they leave an impression on the audience? I regret not having learnt classical dancing. God bless all the south Indian actresses.
Now the most important topic for the day - the dhoti! Looking at the photos you seemed to have managed it very well although I can sense a bit of nervousness in that large photo between the Mr Pookutty and the other gentleman. They seem even more nervous for you in case the material gets caught up under the foot and gives way! “Do in Rome as the Romans do”.??..I am not sure Sir you would say that if you went to Scotland! Jaya ji would not approve of the style (the kilt) or the high level of air conditioning.
Those that understand and those that do not…I think Sir most of us do understand it, reservations will always remain with some in any given discussion. So long as life remains so do challenges for all. Overall, you have done well for yourself..being where you are. That’s all I can say.
Last but not the least, the mundu suits the munda. You look good.
Love,
Daksha
Dear uncle,

Good comparative story….
HSBC Method :
Hire a lion. Give him full rest & make him lazy, Pay him more than his expectation, Never tell him to do any work upto six months, and after six months tell him that now you have to fulfill your yearly target within six months otherwise u will be kicked out from jungle. Lion dies due to fear, that if he looses this lazy animal’s jungle where he will go.
ICICI Method:
Hire a lion. Give him hell a lot of work and pay him lower salary than his politically astute peers. Restructure his job, position, boss, colleagues, designation, department, salary, and location every 6 months. Remove all lions above 40 from the organisation by giving them VRS. If he kills 2 goats a day, give him target of killing 20 elephants a day, when there are just 10 elephants in the jungle. Lion dies of exhaustion, overkill and restructuring.
HDFC Method:
Hire a lion and ask him to meow like a cat. Give him lots of ESOPs and grass to eat. He will die eventually of hope and starvation.
CITIBANK Method:
Hire the lion, make him take 14 tests and tell him that if he doesn’t score 90% he will lose the job. Ask him to extract 60 kg meat out of a 40kg goat. Lion dies of the strain.
ABN AMRO Method:
Hire the lion. Give him high impossible targets and expect a premature delivery of these targets. If the targets are delivered, clap for him in a town hall. But if did not deliver, humiliate him regularly. Lion either dies of excitement or starts behaving like Tom Hanks in Terminal.
Stanchart method:
Hire a lion; motivate him to outshine other lions in the jungle. Load him with impractical targets and if he finds the prey, ensure jackals in the jungle snatch the prey and the lion dies in oblivion……
Kotak Method :
Hire a lion, load him with targets to focus on value instead of volume. Every quarter change the style and make his life miserable. If he survives in the system reward him with a hefty bonus.
RBI Method:
Hire a lion and give him a 3000 page circular on how to kill a goat. Amend the circular atleast three times a day. Send him on inspection to the jungle, where he can threaten to cancel the hunting licence of any fox, wolf, bear, jackal etc who have violated any provision of the 3000 page circular. Lion dies of boredom.
SBI Method:
Recruit a lion, give him the power of a mouse. Lion dies of over expectation and no results………….
IDBI Method:
Recruit a lion, Give him posting among cats. People call him manager but he is actually a clerk. Expect to work as an all rounder. Lion dies in frustration or escapes to another jungle.
cheers
love you

Dear Amitji
Saw the program on Manorama news channel this evening. Your modesty is your most outstanding feature. Everybody has a lesson to learn from you in that aspect. Only the truly great can be truly humble and you, Sir, are a shining example of that.
As has been said innumerable times on this blog, you look very good in the mundu….most importantly you look very comfortable wearing it! And cheers to Mammootty for admitting that he wanted to impress you by wearing a suit assuming you would wear one too
I hope you will take up Mohanlal’s offer and do a film with him. Thats a casting coup all Malayalees are waiting for!
Do they call you Amidab in Malayalam…ha..ha
Hello Sir..
How r u doing?
Looking very dashing in the stylish Kurta-Dhoti!!
Regards,
Dear Sir,
YOur are looking GREAT in mundu!!
its fact that kerela is one state where people think forward but yet wear/live in rich culture of old times.
I would say the kerela culture is less diluted by west than in other states.
Please do the film with mohanlal..that would be the most fantastic pair to watch.
Love & regards,

Amit ji,
Great to be with you after an entire month! Have been reading 1 Feb to this post. Again I’ll say ‘Amazing’! Every time I read, I am fascinated by your writing (expression). See how beautifully you describe the joy and amusement and bevilderment of a new cell phone! Amazing.
I have been wondering for some time now, DO YOU EVER SLEEP?! You write to us at very unearthly hours. And I know you are up very early, as your father imbibed in you “those that sleep before sunset and those that get up after sunrise cannot prosper in life”. Here you tell us, ‘came in at 3 AM and at the studio at 6 AM’!!! And still you want to give us yellow lines?!
So God Help You!
Love and Regards
Tashi Delek Amit jee,

Forgot to mention Happy B’day to Amitabh Abhishek!

Myself Sreela Sujikumar W/o of a Border Security Force Soldier deployed in Fazlika, punjab,by birth a Keralite, and settled in Jodhpur Rajasthan, want to wish u a long prosperous life long with ur family. Everytime when I catch u in TV reciting the lines from ur father’s poems, it just seems like somebody giving an energy to our soul to live alone with our kids, sparing our betterhalves for the nation. it just inspires me like anything ,that life is all along a journey, where everyday we comes across something new. I can’t express my joy on seeing u cladded in a ‘mundu’ (4 ur information, new age gus tie a belt around the waist to get it fixed). My family’s prayer will always be with u and family and want to hear more from u…………..

Hope you enjoyed keral visit

Hello Amitji,
I dont understand how to start. I am Naresh goud pursuing masters in Aerospace engineering @abroad. I am not a fan of yours. if i have to say i am not a fan of any film stars. If i like some movie i will just appreciate it. To be frank i used to hate you. The reason may be because of the unnecessary hype created by media on you. Its not both of our mistake. But still i never used to watch your movies with the excitement. But i had watched your movies now and then. I have seen recent nokia screen awards. I was very sure that you will be winning the best actor award as you were nominated(negative sense). I was surpraised even Vidya balan won the best actress award for PAA movie. Then i thought i will watch this movie when i got time. Yesterday night i started watching this at around 1 Am. Generally i cant watch a complete movie all alone with out any company. You know wat i have watched the complete movie. I didnt get sleep all the night. i was really touched with that movie. According to me ” The best scene in the movie @ when abhishek bachan calls you for the first time and the way you feels great that you know MP” amazing work man!!!
Ofcourse it could be all directors work. But you have seriously portrayed so neatly. I would like to appreciate director balki’s work. And even vidya balan, bum, abhishek did their jobs very well. specially bummm. Seriously you dragged me to aprreciate you personally with this movie(PAA). I wish you read this message. Next time I will drop a message only if i genuinely(as this time) like your work. I wish you to pull me to drop many messages. All the very best mr bachan. See you soon with some amazing movie.
Thanks for your time,
Naresh

Hi Amitji………Happy 2 c u in traditional Kerala style…v r waiting 4 that malaylam movie…:)
hi, sir
you are looking coooool even in lungi, everything looks good on you or your personality makes it so
My dear Amit ji,
It is really great to wear that Lungi or Saree a one would put it. Really it is air conditined all the time in Keralaite atmosphere.
Great that you tried this time….
sir
will u be taking up the proposed malayalam project?
hello sir how is your day
Thanks for your comments
all of you visit this blog post about BIgb’s Kerala visit
all of you are welcome…
http://news-vision.blogspot.com/2010/02/amithabh-bachan-presented-newsmaker.html
Very tradition in LUNGI. I like your attitude.
Dear Amitab,
It is good to see you still very young. May God bless you to do many more things!
Amitji,
This is the first time I am visiting this blog. While reading the news report about your kerala experience, I got the link to this blog and man, am I happy!
Yesterday I saw the full telecast of the Manorama TV event.
You look more stunning in the traditional Kerala “Kasavu Mundu” and shirt than any typical malayaly. I haven’t seen many malayalies as tall as you in a mundu.
When Mammootty asked you what prompted you wear a mundu while he himself bought a new suite for the event and was expecting you to wear a suit, and your answer “Do in Rome as Romans Do”. (Many of the Indian stars and other personalities wear formal western suites to events and I have seen many westerners wearing Indian traditional dresses. I remember watching a telecast of an event that took place in US where one of our superstar was dressed in complete western suite and many Hollywood celebrities wearing Indian dress.)
I was amazed by your free flawing and heart touching speech after presenting the Award to Resul Pookkutty. Such eloquence.
Although you said “Thank god I am not a politician anymore” during the Q&A session and as answer to a question by IAS officer turned politician Alphonse Kannathanam ( Delhites might remember this name) … Amitji, We surely need people with sensibilities like yours. and your answer to his question
(Just some points about Mundu.
The Mundu Amitji wearing is called ‘Mundu’ or Dhoti. It is not Lungi. A Lungi is a similar piece of cloth which malayalies mostly wear at home and it usually have either chequred designs (Kalli Mundu) or some other printed designs (Pulli Mundu)).
Well. want to write much more.. but have to get back to work..and it is my first time writing ….
Long live Amitji.
Dear Amitabhjee,
I have been your silent admirer right from my school n college days. I used frequently pass by your bungalow in juhu, whenever i used to visit ISKON. That was in the early 90’s when I was a student of NMIMS. I salute you for being YOU. Your mundu reminded me of the traditional attire worn not only in Kerala but in Karnataka too..But then there are slight differences in the border areas and the way it is worn. Pls. check the link shown below..
http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/photo.php?pid=1683476&id=746194030&fbid=80538374030
May you win many more hearts of people spread all over the world by sticking on to that old adage - “Be a Roman in Rome”. Best wishes always..
Dear Sir,
To be honest, I am little nervous now. I feel you are in front of me and am talking to you in real.
According to our family, you are the favorite of generations. My father used to like you so much [he is no more now]. He used to take us for your movies. I still remember he taking all of us for “Sholay” [I was only 5 or 6 that time]. We all 3 brothers are your fans. And now my elder brother’s son who is 20 now, also a great fan of yours.
You really made us all proud by posting this great article in your blog. It means a lot for us to hear few words from you about Kerala.
Kerala - God’s own country… According to National Geographic website, kerala falls under the “Paradise found” section & one of the 50 places of a lifetime. Please check the link below.
http://www.nationalgeographic.com/media/traveler/kerala.html
And the breakfast of Kerala have been rated the best breakfast in the world by Travel & Leisure magazine [Kerala Govt website]
http://www.kerala.gov.in/disttourism/101.htm.
We all really love you from bottom of our heart..
Please visit Kerala again whenever you get time…
Nandi… Namaskaaram…

Dear Mr. Bachchan
I am disppointed with your association with the project “Aman Ki Asha” especially since you are an inspiration for all and a global icon. 26/11 was an act of war. The government whom the people of Pakistan have voted to power is indulging in unprovoked acts of violence in India. There is proof that terrorism is state sponsored.
Who dosen’t want peace? India has always talked about peace and propogated peace and what has India got in return? The government elected by the people of Pakistan continues to push Islamic terrorists in to India to kill innocent women, children and destroy our economy by pushing in fake currency.
Currently the terrorists behind 26/11 are freely roaming in Pakistan-palnning more attacks sponsored by the state. The least India can do to respect 26/11 victims is to cut off all ties with our notorious neighbour until we reduce the probablility of another terrorist attac k by atleast 10%.
In my humble opinion, it is extremely insensitive and disrespectful to 26/11 victims to have any relationship with Pakistan until justice is done.If only you knew the pain of a person who lost his/her children to ruthless pakistani terror attack–you could have reconsidered doing the “Aman ki Asha ” and shared stage with a pakistani.
Only one person in Bollywood has stood up and openly shared his views without indulging in diplomacy–ABHIJEET. He shared his frank opinion and stood up for 26/11 vicitms. When there are so many Indian actors, singers and cricters languishing in ranks–why the hell does Indian film Industry seek artistes/sportsmen from a enemy country? The other celeb who stood up was Sachin Tendulkar-during Kargil war when he said we should not play Pakistan.
I sincerely hope you shift away from this project atleast till the time the govt takes some encouraging steps against the terrorist currently roaming freely in Pakistan.
Looking forward to your comments/response.
Best wishes and regards
Manoj Ghantasala

One incident which I cannot forget ..
I was assigned for my last job in Djibouti, East Africa where I thought , will never go and frightened but situation…… Even though I expected a Japanese person( It was Japan company doing a project there ) to pick me airport in the night, I saw one Djiboutian ( African ) smiling and recognized me without an introduction, he showed a company ID card and took me to the cab, I was in little fear and also don’t know what language to speak ( Normally they have Somali, Arabic and French ) He asked me “ Do you know Ghoshi, the indi actor(they call indi on Indian) I was confused and said no.. even I asked is it Sharuk Khan, Salman.. most of them they know.. But later one day from internet I was reading some news he saw your picture and screamed… Ohhhhh Goshiiiiiiiiii , give me a printout… as per him all of Djiboutian know you as Goshi, Not Amithab…
Be happy sir, to have you to be our ambassador Our Goshiji……

Few months back, my reply post to one of your articles did mention the ever-constant nature and context but the every changing style of the start and end of an article, by you. Its nice to see that many including me and the radio journalist in Kerala noticed it.
Wishes to Resul Pookutty and the causes he has taken for the needy and poor.
AB, Mohanlal and Mamooty are stalwarts of Indian cinema.
When one stalwart meets the other, and that too in a “perfect on time” humbe felcitation event, in itself makes you learn a lot
Your dress code was perfect and imbibed well for the occasion, it was so endearing to have the mundus and saris for the family
The description of first Chennai and now Cochin and the crafts (dance and dress) your very avid admiration and description of the dance forms and the way the mundu is worn and the amount of “action” in wearing a mundu., makes me just to quote and unquote your text in Aman ki Aasha which perfectly describes the vastness and “intrinsic” essence of India.
I am amazed at the vastness of the creativity and the beauty of its presence. I must know my country better. I must travel and read and imbibe them. I must gain undisclosed knowledge. For it must take a lifetime, perhaps more, to experience and know what India is all about. ……..I never had the time to know … know about my own people and their culture. But I will. I shall pursue, ……… I shall pursue !!
A beautiful start of the week with Cochin visit and then Aman ki Aasha is an event on 8th Feb.
AB for you there is no start and end of a week, its “Perennial”
Dear Bachan saab
You luk gr8 in Mundu and we r very happy c u and our lallettan in one screen
Shinegopinadh@gmail.com
Namaste Ji, I am surprised to see your comments about those classical artforms and some comments about our culture. I am sure you watched a very capsule version of those arts. But your points looks like you observed it very closely. Having such a great culture for ourselves, its a pity that our mainstream cinema which includes stalwarts like you, looks westwards for everything - for western dress, western accents, western style for even family things - like calling father pops/dad instead of our own beautiful phrases, and nowadays even stories are from west!!! You seem to be fascinated by our culture, but then why dont you make a good effort to send a strong message, especially to our west looking city bred youth, about our greatness. I was very happy to see you in Mundu (Munda - I am afraid sir is wrong - can be a different meaning in Tamil and Malayalam) and hopefully at least some youth would not treat that dress as a ‘country’ dress. I have often heard young people - especially girls - commenting so - country - whenever I am in Mundu. For me its a very elegant dress, suitable for all weather conditions. Thank you ji.
You look great in a mundu! India is truely a diverse country and we can be an example to Europe and America. Yes, Kerala has some lovely embroidery designs in gold and white which are beautiful. But unfortunately our countrymen know only about the embroidery of gujarat and Rajasthan and that has what has come to represent the whole of India to the world. South Indians are mocked by North Indians and they are shown in a poor light in Bollywood films. But I think innovative performers like you can change this.
Dear Sir,
We are very pleasure to see you in MUNDU…
Rgds…Zonu
Respected Sir:
So kind of you to write about the Kerala Culture, especially its simplicity and warmth. Like many, I was also amazed to see you in a Mundu in that function. Maybe it was beyond imagination of all of us that you will appear in such a simple attire for such a function. At the same time it is very sad to notice that people from Kerala are following the Western style and wearing Blazers, Suits, etc. I think even our beloved Stars (Mammootty and Lalettan) was not even imagined that you will appear in a Mudu Avatar. Otherwise, I am sure, they would had given you a company.
With lots of love and respect..
Sunil
Sir,
U r simply amasing… whethr u are in a Munru or in any other form….
Luv u sir.
Indu
Dear Amitji,
i remember one interview where you say ” 24 hours is good enough for any individual in a day, provided you know how to manage your time”.i am really surprised the way you schedule yourself.
Without clips, buttons, belts You were really comfortable in “mundu”……..
Your appeareance in mundu has been a talking point among friends and it reached such a level that few of them started searching for their “mundu”,which they stopped wearing long time back….
Regards
Tony
Dear Amitji,
Well what more to be said…..how generous and galant of u to wear the traditional dress of the place u r visiting and how perfectly described….theres plenty of reasons u r the greatest superstar of all time and u have juz added some more…..nowadays people go to watch films for their content…..but people came to watch u only….nobody cant do comedy, action and character roles so effortlessly…….u r the greatest actor…..
Sangeeth

Hi Ji,
Sorry for the late comment for this post, I just skipped reading your blog for some reasons. Not sure if this reaches your attention still…
Anyways as always you were elegant! Just loved your policy of being a Roman when in Rome. Thank you for the good things that you have told about our region and our culture.
And I just wanted to bring to your notice that as the lady at Radio Mango said your ’sign off’ on your daily posts were one thing that me too was eager in checking daily…even if i don’t go through the daily posts…i just see how you sign off. Because it was such a simple and non-repeating style of saying ‘Love you’. I was of the impression that you took very care in that few words…Just now I am amazed at your comment that it was just a deliberate thing that you even din’t noticed! Ji, you are simply great!
HELLO SIR,
its pleasure to know that u loved our kerala and our culture………….we are looking forward to see u on the big screen of malayalam movie industry soon.ALL THE VERY BEST TO U!!!

wow… you became a Malayalai …and we are very glad to hear that we can see you in Malayalam Movie with Mohan Lal ..
we are extremely delighted to read about your Malayalam movie with Mohanlal… By wearing a classic Mundu fabulously and delightfully writing about the people of Kerala and its arts you yet again proved that Amitabh Bachan is a national asset and above all these narrow minded politics of language and religion fuming in and around Mumbai.
Any where you go, you always leave a feeling behind on the people …
that you are among them…you are there own… !!!
And at home front,
Hope your daughter-in-law is back to normal and you are relieved..

Sir,
You look great in Mundu and shirt. You have given a new recognisation to mundu all over the country. I hope some of the malayalies who does not like to wear mundu (That too in Kerala) will start wearing it.
I stay in Delhi and whenever, I wear a mundu and go out, It was an embarrassing situation as very few people in Delhi wear mundu in public function. But now I feel proud of wearing it.
Thank you sir, thak you very much for giving all of this recognisation
with best regards
Sunil
