Authority of position and place. Authority in domesticity. Authority through the medium of media. Authority in relations. Authority among equals and friends. Authority …
By what authority do we function in all spheres of life. By what authority does position and place become overbearing. Why does authority in domesticity become conducive with all that denotes order and harmony. How does the media or any medium function with authority and right. Is it of value to be in authority amongst ourselves - we are all equals and friends …
It is of immense interest to me how authority exists and why. Has it been devised by nature to accommodate submission. Or has it been devised to accentuate defensiveness. We are weak and vulnerable when we are defensive. We are strong and impressive when aggressive. Why ??
Knowing these traits do we not ever use them to our advantage ; to get out of situations that will not go our way. Can we really become aggressive despite our inborn weakness. Do we surrender to such acts deliberately or do we act out them.
I am in dilemma and distress on appropriate answers. They come to me but in fits and starts. More fits, than starts. Are those that practice or induce these traits aware of its repercussions. Will there be any repercussions ?
Submitting to them is more from respect of position. Once position achieves a stand dictated by what we have agreed in principle, we seldom question it. Its the way the ethics of a nation a culture exists.
I am this morning subjected to authority. I wrote last night of pending argument and debate and discussion. Of belief and disbelief and what it would entail once a final judgement is arrived at. But the belief really is that authority prevails. You may have fact and truth in place. You may have evidence in place. But in the end authority reveals an unbiased face. Truth will have its place and meaning but it will carry the onus of being harassed. Truth will be harassed, but truth will never be defeated. This is strong. Evidence must be clinching and pure, it cannot be circumstantial. Assumptions cannot have meaning to an accusation. And even if they do, conviction will never find space on mere ‘accu-sumtion’.
In a civilized society, conduct and constitution, law and judiciary could be blindfolded, but in the inevitable end, truth will prevail - satyameva jayate !!
Someday there shall be a revelation of what this leads to or does not. Webs of deceit may be deployed to surround and strangle fact, but even though they are long and endless in wait … the end result would and shall and will be positive. So help me God !!
Uddhav Thakeray calls. he has just come out of the theatre after ‘Rann’ and is not able to find appropriate words to describe his appreciation for the film and the performance. Minutes later Bala Saheb calls. ‘I want to see this film. Come and show it to me !’ ‘You have not been to see me for a long time !’
I assure him I shall arrange a projection in his house. I ask after his health. He is fine he says.
He cannot travel out due to his frail condition, but the fire in him still burns. He is resolute and firm as ever and in that resoluteness you discover an endearing, that sudden soft moment, which has always made his presence so strong and affectionate. His sense of humor is in tact as he punches in some wise ones !!
Abhishek had been to Delhi for the press for Colors and Bingo. After a rollicking start of the highest TRP the press needs to meet him. He returns to Mumbai with his Mother, who had been there in Delhi and in Varanasi for an International conference. He has trudged off to Film City for ‘Crooked’ his new film, his wife has swiftly followed him there too for Vipul’s film. They shall be late in returning and the husband and wife at home decide to call it a day. It has been a long and argumentative Indian day. The system prevails and rules, try disturbing it and you could end up starting a revolution or quietly to it, succumb.
I would rather succumb than be a part of the revolution. The answerability and accountability be the facets that shall sit on judgement when the results are announced.
Nothing has been heard yet. But it will soon. Will they draw me or shall I be drawn into it. Difficult to state or even apprehend. Nurturing the craft of human emotions is an exercise that we must all learn. For it is the humans that shall encounter us and become its counter too !!

Today still not slept because now I am feeling the pain which my father would have taken when I was in Nursery / KG is study………today there is some craft work competition where my 3.5 year old SON has participated through his school and have to prepare craft module ( needless to metion which I have to prepare)……….so working on the same till late night…………
haaaaaahhhh………..sometime it seems office work is so easy as compared to this to be called basic level craft work ………………
wooke but have to go to sleep as early as possible because its now 1.15am……………morrow will be second day of the week and have to sustain for more 5 days………..dont know our great Amit Ji how makes it possible to work so late…………

A full circle it appears to have almost completed itself since your last three entries here compelling all who read them to respond quickly, as I am sure they must. Writing this reply took no effort as I can see you are about to make a decision. But take comfort in this offered , authority has itself a place but not without company. Authority is not an entity unto itself because it has many friends to balance. Accountabilty is one because without it
Authority has no ‘bones & flesh’..Assertiveness is a close cousin and Character is a brother. All the attributes we as people have contain everything. We choose to exercise them at Will encountering others who choose to do the same. If we are weak it is not an advantage to others but rather a platform to refresh us with those close by to support. Even Moses needed help hold the staff when the Red Sea parted for the Children to cross. Draw from your Faith kind Sir when perplexed and overwhelmed. ‘Seek and Ye shall find..Knock and the Door will be opened’..and Truth will be on the other side ready to Defend.
Albeit in theory we are a ‘civilized’ planet..but sometimes the limits are tested.

I must say that I find nothing endearing about Bal Thackeray inasmuch as I’ve been following his politics over the decades that the Sena has been around. Could he be personally endearing with you? Absolutely. But this gets back to my old question once again and before I address it let me say something about some of the issues you’ve raised in this characteristically oblique post. I do not have a naivete about the truth myself which is to say I do not doubt that there is ‘truth’ (even if defining it is not as easy as one supposes) but I have grave doubts as to its ultimate ‘prevalence’. The history of the world offers rather dark lessons on the subject and even where truth has ultimately prevailed it has been at a terrible cost, a cost which I do not find acceptable for truth. Nor would I think those humans who pay this terrible price in personal terms. ‘Truth’ is so often nothing more than the luxury of the ’survivor’, the arrogance of the survivor. You have raised the question of authority. There is a simple way of understanding it — no authority that cannot adequately stand up to truth can be judged entirely legitimate. Of course no authority could ever be legitimate through and through. An ‘authority’ that could always coincide with ‘truth’ is a fiction. However where one can one must err on the side of the latter rather than the former. However one defines these terms what side does one choose when both seem opposed and often starkly so? But it isn’t only about authority. It is also about the family, about friendship, about the personal in every sense. Does not one do violence with truth when one opposes friendship to it? What is one willing to do for the ‘truth’ that one constantly claims allegiance to but for which one is not willing to reconsider one’s acquaintances, let alone one’s friends and family, let alone one’s politics? What is the point of raising such questions constantly? Does it not become, even if one is not wholly conscious of it, a way of avoiding the proper decision? Is it not rather easy to keep up the speculation without ever having to do anything about it? And again one must separate personal acts of kindness and charity from those that have a political dimension to them. I might spend time and money helping out victims of a riot but I might not be willing to put my signature on a piece of paper that condemns the perpetrators of the riots. This distinction is a crucial one. Helping humans simply as humans is fine in a situation where there has been a natural disaster that does not differentiate among its victims (though certain natural disasters become more devastating in situations where even if the event has not chosen certain political decisions have not been less than responsible in magnifying the event’s impact) but in situations where humans are victimized for their ‘identities’ or as ‘political subjects’ of some order the remedies must also operate along this latter field of politics. There is also a pragmatic reason for doing so. One might keep ‘helping out’ with people who’ve suffered from a riot but if one does not address how the riot came about in the first place one does nothing to prevent the future occurrence of the same. Hence that signature on a piece of paper is important as a political statement. But we tend to dissociate these two aspects in our minds because once again we have that luxury. we have not been victims. We satisfy our conscience that we have acted, we have helped but we also refuse to do so in ways that are politically inexpedient. I have always accepted that the risks for a public figure doing so are that much greater. At the same time the same figure also has the kinds of natural defenses that a regular citizen might not have.
Let’s take this Shahrukh affair because it also involves the Sena. I have said strong things about Shahrukh and I’ve put that up here as well. You have clearly offered support to Shahrukh on this blog, statements I’ve appreciated. But isn’t is rather too easy to only blame the media for what happened? Yes they acted unethically as they often do. yes Shahrukh might have acted with greater care assuming he wasn’t acting cynically in the first instance. But if the media does not fool yourself or myself how did it manage to fool Mr Thackeray when he trades in politics for a living. He came out with the most excessive reaction on this entire affair and one that as I’ve said before reveals a repulsive attitude towards the minorities Shahrukh represents at least in terms of his basic identity. Whatever my views on Shahrukh’s interventions (and again I have been critical of them), whatever my views on the media (and my stance on them has been far stronger than yours) it seems to me that one must be with Shahrukh today, tomorrow and every single day that the Sena attacks him in this fashion. Bal Thackeray has always pretended that there is a reasonable cause for his violence-inciting politics. From Tamilian immigrants to Muslims he has always found reason for his ‘unreason’. But what really is the truth here? He actually needs no empirical evidence for his fascist politics of the worst order. The ‘evidence’ (such as it might exist) is merely the excuse for him to say and do what he wishes to anyway!
I bring all of this up today because I am simply following the contours of your post. However one defines ‘truth’ what notion of such might be served if one offers ‘personal testimony’ for someone when political condemnation is not just necessary but even a moral calling? If one does engage in the latter couldn’t one at least exhibit silence on the matter since one has been a great practitioner of this art at so many other points in one’s life? But isn’t it an obfuscation of the worst kind or certainly a completely incoherent position to defend Shahrukh one day by calling out simply the media and the next day offer personal testimony for a political leader who uses this excuse to attack Shahrukh in terrible ways? Again isn’t this incoherence a luxury which allows one to play both sides of the fence?
I do not mean to be judgmental here. And I never tire of saying that I have no doubts about your politics or your own character in these significant matters. But I AM getting tired of precisely this ‘incoherence’. These issues are far too large, far too important. Recall that great line from Trishul when Vijay tells R K Gupta that there are certain things in life that are above and beyond profit and loss. R K Gupta’s problem has precisely been the fact that he can never leave behind this calculative logic and for which he sacrifices his love and his responsibility to his child. There is a political statement in the movie as there is to every significant Salim-Javed script. R K Gupta represents a new entrepreneurial class that is quite happy to kiss off on various segments of society that represent a drag on his ambitions. Is this what the promise of independence was all about (remember this is a kind of sequel to Deewar)? This is a question that ought to be renewed once more in this triumphalist time we live in, where we once again support the likes of R K Gupta forgetting all the Vijays who have been left behind and who can only return with the sort of violence that Vijay himself does in Trishul or Lallan does in contemporary India (sadly no Salim-Javed today to lead such probings in Hindi cinema today..).
But there are at any rate things in life that transcend the pragmatic and calculation attached to the practical as one defines it. No one has to answer this ‘call’. I am one of the more lapsed human beings (to use a somewhat Christian register) I have run into in life. I mean this in all sincerity and I bring this up to again underline that I am not judging you. I live in the most fragile glass-house from where I could not begin to judge anyone on ethical or moral grounds. But I am nonetheless unafraid to raise what I consider to be proper questions. I am also operating on the illusion that my lapses still pale in comparison with those of Mr Thackeray! At any rate I have indulged in all of this because I think the luxury of incoherence must be avoided, specially when it seems to be so interminable. There cannot always be this chasm between the concerns one raises and the ways in which one acts. And questions that are political in their essence cannot be answered only in personal registers. Unless one only means to avoid the question.
I again apologize for commentary that might seem presumptuous or impolitic. The former I shall always plead guilty to, the latter I always hope to be guilty of..

Was simply hoping your isolation from current events but in a way some phone calls and names popes up today, it seems little far fetched (though fingers are crossed). There are 2 reasons for wishing your isolation (1) Common man seems to be less concerned and perhaps rightly so as all seems to be commercial and political game-nothing serious or deep. (2) As long as there is any kind of division-be it my country v/s your country-I/me v/s U and them-there is no validity in any other reasoning.
Just a while ago Dad quoted your quote (DID-Zee TV) “Jiven hai to sangrash hai and vahi satya hai” and tried to instill some hope and courage to face present odds and failures in business and life. Parents indeed have uncanny ability to see through and offer strength in very effective and strange ways.

authority is necessary for the maintenance of law and order and is absolutely needed as long as it is not abused.giving in to the authority is not always a sign of weakness provided it is for the appropriate cause. it is a weakness when you succumb to the power in-spite of knowing that the authority is being misused.

Hope all is well at your end. This past Friday (1-29) I saw, Dance India Dance, here in US and what a show it was. Quite Amazing and my whole family enjoyed it so much especially with all the contestants performing to all your hit songs of movies. Heads of to them…and also a very nice tribute to MithunDA with his story of struggle of being where he is in life. It was a Excellent Show and as always Amitji you looked incredible. I am looking forward to seeing you on the show “Lift Kara De” with host Karan Johar.

Good Morning Amitji,
Sorry to say this but whenever I heard name Thackery and sena a negative vibe runs across the body. I am maharastrian, but honelstly I won’t look back to compare Osmana with thackarey, what osmana is doing on the basis of relegion to Muslim people, the same thackrey is trying to do with Marathi people, though the casualties are less in the later, but after a decade i won’t be surprised to see all state fighting with each other. Please stay away from this people…they thinks thery are the authority and can do whatever they want, but we are responsible for making them one. subash nagare was authority but for the goodwill of the people and not doing harm to others. To become big, you have to become big yourself and not by making others small. Ok enough of thackreys as I think they don’t deserve that much attention.
ok Sad news is that I haven’t seen Rann yet, and the reason is that it hasn’t relelease in sydney…pitty..movies like pyaar imposible, chance pe dance….are all getting release but not rann…pitty…do you know why it has not been released in australia…..can’t wait to see it………

I hope the truth prevails in your situation. Authority can go too far and overshadow what is right. Coming from the punk rock subculture and what drew me to that is the anti-authority perspective. I’m not sure about the details but I will wish you the best of luck and I hope the truth will prevail and you will not be harassed. I’m sorry that you have to go through this and we are all with you. At least you also have your family and extended family by your side.
I just came out of the Film Forum from a must-see beautiful Russian movie called ‘Room and a Half’. And if anyone wants to know what ‘harassed’ is, there is a flashback where the Jewish poet’s parents are going through red tape to try to leave the country to see their son in New York. The film is very poetic, using different visual styles, animations, humor, pathos, and a cat theme throughout. Any cat lovers(Hi Daisy) must see this film.
I’m happy that you are getting those positive responses about RANN. I just wish your authority problem didn’t have to diminish your happiness.

I wish Udhav Thackrey were as fair in politics as he is in accessing your performance in RANN. The family behaves as if they own Mumbai. Who has given them the right to decide to whom does it belong? Every other day I see thier venomous remarks. They have not even spared the likes of Mukesh Ambani..it is a pity. When they target the likes of Sharukh and Aamir, they talk as Indians. The very next moment they forget their identity and start fighting thier fellow Indians. …funny…very funny indeed!
Isn’t it simple to understand that our nationality is one. State boundaries are only meant for effectiev governance and not to pit one person against the other on the basis of language.

Watched Rann yesterday, what a meaningful movie, what a message! awesome. however I felt unsatisfied, wanting for more. Please take the following notes as constructive criticism:
1) I didn’t enjoy the direction at all! always showing faces and closeups… and when I wanted to see them especially during your fabulous climax speech, I was not able too!. means as an average movie goer, I wanted to see the expressions on your face again and again and get consumed by it… but alas was left wanting for more…..
To give you an example: your speech in Baghban how fabulous…
2) You are too good an actor (obviously) but didn’t saw much of you on the screen, left wanted to see you more….
3) Ritesh and you are both fabulous….
Obviously one can go on fiding weak links in any work…. it’s never perfect. But even though it was a great movie with a very good message… I was somehow left for wanting for more…
RGV is really good but why! why! did he changed so much to challenge the fundamentals of direction…?
You or others might not agree with me but the stats shall speak. I wish RGV get well soon….

Please help me to understand what the underpinnings of your post are. I gather the phrase ‘actions speak louder than words’ applies? to just about everything you’ve said. Although you have eloquently stated your thoughts and I dont mean to diminsh them in any way. From where I sit..anyone who has the bright/dim bulb of public affection /attention on them whether it be high or low somewhere in the mix personal thoughts and/or actions are dissected and mulled to infinity and beyond. I am not a ‘political’ person nor am I equipped to reply on many levels. That being said whenever there is a controversy or an event that provokes one to think the fallout is inevitable. That is the world we live in as the tides ebb and flow, we seek resolution but are hard pressed to find it, and so it goes. To rise above is not a sin, but maybe to see the larger picture is the best approach for whatever reason. To each his own? Maybe..and God help us all because we need it beyond what we can think,feel or imagine.

I am not sure if Rann is released in NJ Yet. Would definitely want to see the movie after hearing all those great reviews. I would like to put a word caution regarding the Thakare’s praises. Is it divide and rule the are trying to get to? They are currently at loggerheads with the Khans and are trying to befriend you. Aren’t these the same peiple who sometime back were out to deport off Mumbai because of some language thing? I know yo are a very wise man and have seen much more world than me, but as your fan and as an Indian am concerned about this culture or amchi-tumchi. We sitting here in the US are always so proud in calling us Indians and think every Indain here is our brother-sister. There is not caste, region, language divide. We are all Indians. I wish the politicians care for the safety and security of the people rather than going after individuals for petty things like you said this, you support so and so. Also Mr. Thakery should acknowledge the contribution of the film industry to the devekopment of Mumbai. What if all the fratenity will fed up of the political harassments and leave Mumbai and shif the industry to another welcoming state? Do they realise what the city is going to loss?

sir,i have been sufficiently impressed by your communication of today on the subject of authority.it reminds me of my incomplete university days when i studied politics and english lit.
one of the questions i remember from those days of politics study,is the question ‘how does a viewpoint or person win legitimacy?’
sir,this concept states that for something to gain popular appeal,it has to appeal to a populace,rather than just a single entity,and authority is the will of the majority of the populace.now,for,authority to be able to give orders and then execute its performance,it has to be approved by the populace that it represents.political authority,is based on the ease and comfort of the weak and idle and ignorant by the wilful hard work and effort of the chosen few.
political authority gains legitimacy because we could all fill out all the administrative forms,white papers,bllue papers and count the election results by ourselves,but do we have the time and the inclination to do that by ourselves?do we hell..it is the most boring job on earth.so what do we do?we elect a person qualified,willing and able to do all of that for us.we pay him/her to keep our best interests at heart and then we have the ease of all the things we need.the question arises,if the system is not transparent enougth for us to be able to see our best interest,do we let the elected candidate decide for us what is in our best interests?the answer is varied .every body has their own views here.some people would rather die than face up to their inner convictions,and take political responsibility for their desires and actions.
power requires responsibility,and when we elect a government,we are in effect handing the reins of our well being in the hands of others.THAT is the reason why authority is awe-inspiring and our hands shake when shaking hands neven with a nobody like george bush,blair or brown or whichever boy got beaten up the most in class because of a lack of character.
i think what people like myself and yourself don’t understand is that the political machinations of a land underpin the central characteristics of the populace of the people of that land.a corrupt politician denotes a corrupt populace,an evil president entails the evil populatoion of that land.similarly,when a populace is stronger than the political authority of that land,then there is no fear of authority.
i remember talking about the italian prime minister aldo moro from the 1950s who was actually kidnapped by the mafia and disappeared only to come back as a dead body a few days later.this was an example of the members of the populace being more powerful than the political authority.similarly,the imprisonment of nelson mandela in south africa is the overpowering of an individual was by the political authority.which one is right?

For many years, I used to reckon power and authority as synonymous. It seemed to be an underlying assumption that those who possess authority also possess power, or that mortal authority grants power.
Believing authority grants power can also bring disappointment when those in authority are unable to work the miracles we assumed their roles implied. We may be even more disappointed when we find ourselves in positions of authority. A new title may grant us expanded access but it does not necessarily endow us with additional skill or wisdom. In the absence of active power, authority is all but void. On the other hand, power alone is not enough to govern anything. Those who use their power to demand authority, that is not rightfully theirs, or those who attempt to take it by force eventually fall. Power is slippery in the hands of those who want it most. Those who seek power unlawfully often put themselves on a course to gain a little authority and not long after they begin to drift (or sprint) off course. Sometimes the drift is subtle and sometimes it’s surprisingly bold. In the end, if they haven’t made adjustments, they lose the power and authority they prized most not only at great personal expense but sadly, and more importantly, at the expense of others.
Before I end, I would like to comment on the authority in words. Not everybody can wield the same power and authority as you so profoundly do through your blog. Just how intricately you touch a small subject everyday and drill deep into it. That’s where the value of your words resides. That’s a command! Your words have the authority to transform and that’s the reason why I visit your blog everyday.
Most simply, authority to me is a gift of trust and power is the ability. How the two are obtained makes all the difference.

First I have to say WOW. I saw Rann yesterday with my best friend and WOW. It was simply mindblowing! It was so refreshing to a movie that actually had some substance to it. I mean it kept you thinking and guessing the whole movie! Of course, I shouldnt even comment on your performance because I’m merely a 20 yr old student and you are Amitabh Bachchan but again WOW. My favorite scene in the movie was the one where you are talking to your wife about Jay’s rishta with Yasmin. I thought that was one of the most poignant and heartwarming scenes in the entire movie! I truly believe with that one scene you have changed the way hundreds of people think and view themselves and others. SUPERB.
And I just have to say something about your monologue at the end. Literally throughout the whole monologue both my friend and I didnt take one breath. The whole time we in some sort of trance just captivated by your performance…after that final namaskaar we were both dying to catch our breath. BRAVO, ENCORE!

Authority is defined to be refering to this justified right to exercise power and enforce laws, even with compulsion, in order to help a particular order to prevail. it is indeed an enticing and tempting realm and one which is to test the real and true character of the person of authority. for authority to be fair, objective and to be used in a wise way it needs a person of a reasonable and strong character, someone who has the ability to resist all the glittering temptations offered by authority and who can be aware of the real and various responsibilities that come with his being in power and having the authority to do and not to do.
but that is a rare occurrence and usually, and because of this inner weakness, man lies as a prey to these temptations which corrupt his conscience and he fails, therefore, to be just and stand by truth. authority would be praised and lauded when used to help order, harmony and good to prevail, or else it would be a corrupted and untrustworthy realm.
obviously you have been dealt with unfairness and have been subjected to such authority which was unable to recognise truth. i feel sorry you had to suffer being in this depressing situation. but as you say, even after a while truth has to win and prevail. it is when truth fights its long struggle with strength and determination that it gets its moral message to be conveyed and appreciated. i do hope it wouldn’t take so long before truth to win and prevail in your life.

I am very sorry you are distressed and such maladies continually thwart your path. There is seldom a stint of unadulterated happiness to revel in your achievements without these highly unnecessary tensions to complicate an already complex existence. Yet I remain firmly confident you will emerge unscathed, as you have on numerous occasions. You are remarkably resilient, upright and of course blessed by all around you - surely this a triumphant combination.
Of course authorities are imposed to subjugate the masses, to enforce law and order and to be the impartial adjudicators of justice and truth. This is the paradigm and its vital. Civilized society is so utterly bound and gagged within the ‘red tape’ the authorities place around us - invariably ‘truth’ will be easy to place. But revealing a truth is futile if the constrictions placed by the authorities fail to serve ‘justice’ to one in ‘possession of the truth’, because of a technicality or because the authorities themselves have establishments to adjudicate their decisions - a loophole. These are times when the authorities repeatedly fail both the wider system and the citizen they allegedly protect i.e. the one in possession of the truth. What then forms the basis for conviction is essentially ‘calculated conjecture’ centred on the closest version of the truth. So whereas the face of authority is perhaps unbiased; its not always ‘at liberty‘ to exercise that.
I simply say that blind submission may also be unadvisable. From the way your post reads (3rd paragraph from the end) I’m not certain that your faith in the authorities IS resolute either. You seem to be wavering by probing and upholding the concept simultaneously. One should only succumb, because succumbing means the truth would prevail and not simply succumb in an effort to prevaricate revolution. You know the most righteous individuals through history have, at times, been obliged to flout the authorities to honour a truth, or vie for freedom. Granted, revolution would be detrimental to the emissary elements of your career - thus you are forced to acquiesce - but surely not, ever, if you stand to defeat yourself in the process.
Well, it sounds likely the judgement has been initiated anyway, of course, this would be the most distressing time. Perhaps this is the continuation to the same case that keeps cropping up every few months. Or perhaps its that bizarre gender case you spoke of with Bharka Dutt recently. I hope I’m wrong altogether. Either way, there was of course too much significance to some of your words to have not held depth yesterday. The wolves were most likely to be the authorities.
Its easier said than done, but please take heart my dearest Mr Bachchan. Stand firm in your faith and in all you believe to be true. And know that we stand right there by your side in love and steadfast support.
I sincerely hope you can put anxiety aside and that a decent rest will at least ease the tensions of a tedious day, as you prepare to welcome a beautiful new one. Until the morrow please rest well and the sweetest of dreams beloved Mr Bachchan.

This is the first time I am writing here. I live in Singapore. Frankly speaking I usually don’t watch movies( any language, I am a tamilian) and pardon me as i have not caught up with PAA or RANN. I do’n have patients to sit for 2 1/2 hrs and with kids in tow its even more of a drag. I am more a fan of written script, maybe that was why I was drawn to your Blogs.
Your blogs have been very interesting, introspective and inspiring. The problems you deal with may be huge, so is for every man and woman who live on this Earth. The only variation is they come in different sizes, again here due to the position you are in. There comes a time to throw out all the niceties and decorum and do what is right rather than follow the dictum.
I am sure Sir you of being in such a high stature can do so and deal with it. speaking the TRUTH which in the end will lighten your heart and Mind. Of course there will be brickbats, criticisms. That happens even now to you so why bother.
My grand father had this to say to his friend, when he walked out to go to a shop wearing a torn shirt. Those who know me well, know who I am and what I stand for, and as far as the comments from those who don’t know me, I don’t care. I know waht bothers you may not be so simple, but calling a spade a spade will free you of your burden.

The judiciary system that sometimes does work on inputs of “things” other than facts, evidence, witnesses and conscience of the nation also unfortunately crawls with the speed of a turtle rather than running with the speed of light. Being offensive or defensive has little do with final truth that emerges out , well, when and if it does in our lifetime. I do hope, in all fairness, truth prevails in your case and you do see the light of justice, for whatever it is.
I truly wish all Thakares show some moments of solitude and use some “humor” in public rather than using it privately. How sweet it was of Udhav to say he doesn’t have words - I would have loved to hear that from him for it’s one of Guinese book moments or perhaps your presence with him is so essential for well being of the state. Just kidding.
I am not a fan of Thakares but I also do not demerit the elder one completely. He was “the” voice for Maharashtrians, long time ago. It’s the super case of “authority” that Thakares in Maharashtra can be compared to Nehru/Gandhi for Congress. It does happen everywhere, I believe, that generations after generations are expected to carry forwad the torch of their forefathers. It’s a very “Indian” thing that we observe in almost all professions. “Merit” is often ignored in the favor of “authority” and I bet it is to do with the mediocracy of our society, in general. History is the witness and I wish those who wrote the books were present today to see the mockery of system.

I do not feel like commenting a lot on the subject of authority except that we definitely share this pattern of social behavior with other species and that helps to hold the society in order …
Authorities are suppose to act and direct others to act in the borders of law and ethics..
I believe, in a human society the relationships between equals and friends can be free from ‘pecking order syndrome’ and function with equal rights and mutual respect to all - strong or weak. And more than that - with love to all. I think that would be an honor for us - humans.
Suppression of weak and disadvantaged by the aggressive and strong is a definite rudimentary trait in human relationships and it equates to ‘jungle law’. I would hope that democracy is a step ahead from that and would protect the life and the rights of those who can not protect themselves. I think there is definitely a noble tone to it, worthy of being a human…
Therefore we elect our authorities in democratic societies with this very purpose - to protect weak from strong in the name of justice according to the law.
But … somehow this basic evolutionary model ‘the strongest wins’ is still very dominant. Sadly such principal can override justice and truth at times, when the power invested in authority is being misused in certain situations. Lets hope that it happens more rare than more often…

I believe the only authority to be ultimately accepted is an authority that is at one with moral integrity, with honour in its highest sense, as well as with law. Easier said than done, as the story of India’s Bhagavad Gita illustrates so well.
Your phrase “Authority among equals and friends” puzzles me; it sounds like a kind of extended oxymoron. Between friends and equals I would think rather of trust, faith, and love, not qualities I would define in terms of authority.

You have mentioned about the authority who can look at you in disdain needlessly or authority can show its powers or can keep all powers aside and treat you with utmost dignity. The last one is important. Authority comes when one has attained a particular status through work or position. One should never misuse authority because that is where the downfall starts.
Domestic authority is bit different and is mutual. Love brings maximum authority because with love one can command so much. One can be very demanding and also get what one wants. Love makes us share everything including the authority you speak of. Love makes us share all our pains and pleasures of life. Love is a treasure worth treasuring. It is heartening to know that we have film lovers in our politicians too and they take deep interest in current subjects being projected. One cannot forget that every human being likes what has interested him as a hobby. Balasaheb as a cartoonist will have that trait always in him. So humour needs that much extra understanding. 15 years ago , we had doordarshan which REPORTED the news, now we have private ”news” networks which dont merely report but SPECULATE, IMPLY and EXAGGERATE. the news anchors on DD used to have such a poker face while reporting news that it was impossible to believe they were humans and only cracked a smile while concluding the news bulletin. News Anchors on channels today are always sneering, have cheeky smiles, smirking and will no doubt appear to be very irritating to the person/s who are the subject matter of the news. to this extent there is no professionalism on part of the journalist and reporter. but this is new age tv, ‘experts’ are invited on shows to give their opinions/judgements on the matter and the reporters also throwing in, their two bits worth instead of merely asking questions. television news operate on three principles - one on the basis that TRUTH IS THE ONLY DEFENSE TO DEFAMATION and where this does not operate they take a very convenient defense that they were merely SPECULATING as what the truth may be. Another defense is that EVERYBODY IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINION and most often this ‘opinion’ is the opposite of the actual truth but they cannot be hauled up in court because there were not reporting but only passing opinion which is highly subjective. For the most part today’s ‘news’ channels rely largely on the latter two principles/defenses to present program mes . In my opinion ‘NEWS CHANNELS’ have been resorting to SPECULATION and GETTING OPINIONS OF ‘EXPERTS’ while declaring and advertising all the time that they are REPORTING NEWS. This in my legal opinion is misrepresentation of the scenario and i believe that if a NEWS NETWORK wants to have a program me where there is speculation on any fact or if there are opinions expressed by the anchor or other ‘experts’ a disclaimer has to be issued to the audiences before the show.That way at least the viewers will know that they are tuning into show which will influence their ideas on the subject matter and that what is shown is mere speculation of opinions of others and not the truth. Only absolute facts will tantamount to a NEWS TELECAST.

How did you decide on editing a Hindi film?
I was contacted by a friend of Ambika’s (Hinduja) in Los Angeles who asked if I would be interested in editing an Indian film. Well, I said yes of course! I love to get out of LA to experience films in other cultures. In fact, after I finished Teen Patti, I liked the idea of shaking up my perspective. It helps me improve as an editor. And editing in a language so foreign to me forced me to edit more visually. I could not rely on the rhythm of the language as I can in English.Though I did not see footage before I arrived in Mumbai, I read the script. It was for me compelling and moving. The script made me cry. That is usually a good sign though I cry at the drop of a hat. And once I saw the footage, I was not disappointed.
What do you think of the film?
The film is a richly told story with many twists and turns. Beautifully shot and told. And of course there is Mr Bachchan who wasa revelation to me. I was not familiar with his work before but after watching his performance, I can safely say he is not just a great Indian actor, he is a great actor period. In Hindi, English and whatever other language he may speak. His performance is restrained and intense. For me one of the pleasures of working on this movie was watching him work. It is one of the gifts great actors give an editor everyday they come to work.

Just two episodes after his debut TV show “National Bingo Night”, Abhishek Bachchan has taken a fancy to anchoring and says it is more enjoyable than acting.
Slamming reports that the show is “boring”, he says he is looking forward to a second season.
“If the rating is so high, it means something about the show is working. It can’t just be my face. If it was just my face then other artists who have been on shows earlier would have got the same rating,” Abhishek told IANS in an interview here.
“Anchoring is easier because in acting there are so many other things that come into play,” he said. “Here you just have to be yourself,” said Abhishek, who was here to promote the show.
“I wanted to do something on television that would have been interactive with my audience and ‘Bingo’ was like that. There are 200 (people in the) studio audience with whom I interact and then we have the whole home-viewing audience that sits and watches the show. I was really looking to something like that,” he added.
The actor further lauded television as a means to reach more people.
“Today we actors just have another platform to do our work on. Television is part of a visual and entertainment medium. Actors have found an opportunity and another platform to connect with the audience,” Abhishek told IANS.
So will we see more of Abhishek on the small screen?
“As of now I am only doing ‘Bingo’. It’s a 13-episode season after which if Colors (the channel that airs the show) renews it, we’ll come back with season II,” he said.
“Bingo” opened Jan 23 with a TRP of 5.1, the highest for a Bollywood-anchored non-fiction entertainment show since 2008, according to Television Audience Measurement (TAM).
It has beaten the opening ratings of the shows hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Rajeev Khandelwal.
Apart from the serial, Abhishek is busy with films like “Raavan”, “Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey”, “Crooked” and the Hindi adaptation of “The Italian Job”.
When asked if all the four Bachchans - his father, mother, wife and himself - would be seen together in a movie or TV show, he told IANS: “Hopefully! As of now, we haven’t been approached with anything together. But if we do and we all like it, I’m sure we’ll do it.”
“Whatever I am today is because of my parents and my family. Whatever I have learnt in life, whether it is personal or professional has been from my parents,” he added.
The Bachchans are referred as the first family of Bollywood, but Abhishek doesn’t pay heed to such titles.
“We’re a family. We are happy about that. Being the first, second or third family doesn’t matter to us. That changes every two years,” he said

I was looking forward to the music of Teen Patti because the background score in the trailers appealed to me and Salim-Sulaiman are background score specialists and do a great job with soundtracks too. Moreover, Leena Yadav’s last film, Shabd, had spectacular songs (Sholon Si and Khoya Khoya rank among my favourites even today) for instance. I expected the album of Teen Patti to be international and classy with rock and hip-hop elements. Teen Patti offers that with a dollop of drama. The lyrics are a cautionary tale against gambling, greed, money and the like.
Teen Patti is a niche album because many of the songs are in English, but if you like it, you could listen to it all day. Among our favourites on the album are: Neeyat and its remix, Life is a game and Summertime and the living.
The sizzling video of Neeyat has got everyone hooked. For those wondering, the pole-dancing lady with the body of a goddess, is Brazilian model Mariah. Neeyat is a song that you will either hate or get addicted to. Sunidhi Chauhan is at her seductive best after ages and you can sense that she is enjoying herself, showing off her fabulous range in this dramatic song. We love the Spanish elements in the song. The remix is interspersed with Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Khel hai baby/khel hai’ and unmatched laughter and some rapping. The catchy beat will get you grooving and it would be fantastic to the do the Salsa to. Some may prefer this to the original.
Intezaar me chupa kahi is a rock song featuring Naresh Kamat who modulates his tone and pitch very well. The song builds up rather nicely and the guitars are impressive. There is an element of suspense in the song. A good rock song after ages! The remix is tolerable.
Salim Merchant gets behind the mike for Teen Patti ke ghulam. The song is reminiscent of Aankh micholi from Dev D. Salim is getting better and smoother with every song. The fusion of several instruments is interesting and the dance number is quite catchy. The remix will be hit with club-goers.
Amitabh Bachchan opens and deals out pearls of wisdom throughout Life is a game. Newbie Sonia Sehgal takes over, unleashing her full-throated English vocals. She has a powerful voice, like that of Suzie Q, and is quite a find. We like the dramatic element of the song. It sounds international. The Hindi version is equally good. Sonia sounds like Anushka Manchanda.
Summertime has an international sound and you can almost visualize the characters entering a plush casino. Alternatively, it could be an introductory song for one of the characters (the rich one). Joe Alvares impresses with his range and we like the playfulness in his voice.

It is a rare case now to see Aishwariya Rai sizziling out on screens often but finally she has decided to make a comeback to show her jalwa at an oldie hit number ‘Apni to jaise taise, thodi aise ya waise’ from her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Lawaris’.
Though she is hard admirer of her father-in-law but this is the first time she will be performing in his previous hit number. Sajid Nadiadwala has brought the rights of the music to use it in one of his promotional track for his upcoming movie ‘Housefull’ starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead.
Sajid is excited to feature Aishwarya in this item number, source states, “Talks are currently on with Aishwarya and things should get finalised in a couple of days. Both the Sajids - Nadiadwala and Khan - loved the idea of using the song and bought the rights from the music company. Everyone knows it was a chartbuster in its heyday.”
But Sajid has different story to add, he states, “Yes, we have bought the rights of the song but Aishwarya Rai is not in our version. We can confirm names only when everything is finalised.” But the director Sajid Khan seems quite positive, he states, “I will neither confirm nor deny the news. We will be making an announcement at the right time.”
The song sequence is heard to be shot in a grand scale with over 500 extras and about 200 dancers on a huge set at Filmcity, where Ashwariya will perform her jalwa after completing ‘Action Replay’. Consequently it will her third item number added to her following two hit numbers’ Ishq Kamina’ and ‘Kajra Re’ earlier.

Authority is of two types.. one kind is bestowed by the system upon you by your position and the associated responsibilities that come with it.. the other kind is the authority that you earn by your good responsible actions.. you brother fall in the second bracket of authority.. and it derives from what I have just said.. the authority that has been earned rather than thrust upon us is more valuable and at times more rewarding.. you are an authoritative actor and a human being.. and when I say this I mean every word of it.. you are what you are for the painstaking forty years of hardwork that has been put up without the slightest remorse.. India looks upon you as an esteemed actor who not only knows his craft too well but also someone who constantly works to retain his image over the years..
Let us leave it lest it sounds like a sycophant.. a sycophant that I never ever was.. being sycophant is what I desist.. I don’t hate anything anymore so the word desist.. I had recently learned that hatred is the only thing that we really need to hate.. I am in no authority to judge myself.. is true to an extent yet if we do not exercise some authority on our acts.. others will show their authority to brand and label us.. I see authority more of a restraint and an exercise for self-improvement.. it could be true for an individual and also for the system.. I have no authority over myself in some ways and do exert authoritative opinion on some of the subjects.. one such subject is Amiabh Bachchan, another could be Indianity yet another could be cricket.. there could be some authority in my writings.. sometimes easily visible and at times only visible to those who have an unbiased mind to find..
I think I have unduly spoken on authority beyond what is allowed to me.. if one remembers with authority comes the duty half our jobs could be executed unassumingly and without a prejudice..
I abruptly end the discussion here and change the course.. let us talk something light.. let us talk about cricket for instance.. South Africa the Protean are in the land to play a Test and ODI series.. I am in no authority to exert my influence on the BCCI to play more of T20 International cricket.. they are not responsible to me.. they would rather not listen to what I have to say.. That is what authority means in some of the words in the world.. I wish South Africans a Gala time.. if Kapil Dev’s words are paid heed to the wickets in the forthcoming series could be slow and turners.. no, no, I am not against his stand.. he is an authority on cricket like you are an authority in Cinema.. Sending a criminal to the guillotines is also an authority..
Spending country’s revenues wisely or unwisely is also one kind of authority..
Drawing boundaries between nations.. dividing lines between people and destabilizing nature.. are all in the hands of authorities..

They have praised you and bashed SRK and has even asked him to follow Amitji step. I would hate to hurt you but I don’t get your relationship with Thakerays. How can you address a person like Bal Thakrey as pita samaan? I have a strong feeling he is not interested in watching Rann, he is calling you to pull you in some kind of controversy. This pita saman Bal Thakery was a silent spectator when Raj Thakery insulted Jaya jee and hats off to you, how you handled all that. As much as I admire you for that, there have been times when being your fan and admirer, I feel like for once roar like a lion as you did at the time of Bofors. Namrata is good but not at wrong places but I might be wrong, you know better.
I read Amar singh jee’s blog, he keeps saying his health is his priority now but doesn’t seem like it. He might have resigned but he is very much into it all the time, that is what he talks about all the time.

Authority was perhaps brought into framework to be the condition that allowed order and discipline. Looking at everyday examples, this can be seen in governments all over the world where an authoritative system ensures the organization of an entire nation. Without it could exist the potential collapse of society and civilization. Then again the power of understanding amongst individuals could prevent that. Truth has always prevailed and nothing is above honesty. To be defensive can also be a sign of strength especially in situations where the reason for it is to be firmly standing on our feet in favour of a righteous position.

He may be a driven politician but his agenda is most definitely not in the interest of the nation & praising him on this public platform of yours - for whatever qualities you may see in him - and at a time when his party is engaging in such unlawful acts, amounts to condoning his actions & his politics.

Extinction of tigers has been a global issue for long now, but the latest population census of this beautiful animal in India has left everyone including actor Abhishek Bachchan shocked. The actor rightfully raises his voice and shows his concern.
Abhishek says, “There are only 1,411 (one thousand four hundred eleven) tigers left in India. It’s shocking. We must do something.”

How did you decide on editing a Hindi film?
I was contacted by a friend of Ambika’s (Hinduja) in Los Angeles who asked if I would be interested in editing an Indian film. Well, I said yes of course! I love to get out of LA to experience films in other cultures. In fact, after I finished Teen Patti, I liked the idea of shaking up my perspective. It helps me improve as an editor. And editing in a language so foreign to me forced me to edit more visually. I could not rely on the rhythm of the language as I can in English.Though I did not see footage before I arrived in Mumbai, I read the script. It was for me compelling and moving. The script made me cry. That is usually a good sign though I cry at the drop of a hat. And once I saw the footage, I was not disappointed.
What do you think of the film?
The film is a richly told story with many twists and turns. Beautifully shot and told. And of course there is Mr Bachchan who wasa revelation to me. I was not familiar with his work before but after watching his performance, I can safely say he is not just a great Indian actor, he is a great actor period. In Hindi, English and whatever other language he may speak. His performance is restrained and intense. For me one of the pleasures of working on this movie was watching him work. It is one of the gifts great actors give an editor everyday they come to work.

Just two episodes after his debut TV show “National Bingo Night”, Abhishek Bachchan has taken a fancy to anchoring and says it is more enjoyable than acting.
Slamming reports that the show is “boring”, he says he is looking forward to a second season.
“If the rating is so high, it means something about the show is working. It can’t just be my face. If it was just my face then other artists who have been on shows earlier would have got the same rating,” Abhishek told IANS in an interview here.
“Anchoring is easier because in acting there are so many other things that come into play,” he said. “Here you just have to be yourself,” said Abhishek, who was here to promote the show.
“I wanted to do something on television that would have been interactive with my audience and ‘Bingo’ was like that. There are 200 (people in the) studio audience with whom I interact and then we have the whole home-viewing audience that sits and watches the show. I was really looking to something like that,” he added.
The actor further lauded television as a means to reach more people.
“Today we actors just have another platform to do our work on. Television is part of a visual and entertainment medium. Actors have found an opportunity and another platform to connect with the audience,” Abhishek told IANS.
So will we see more of Abhishek on the small screen?
“As of now I am only doing ‘Bingo’. It’s a 13-episode season after which if Colors (the channel that airs the show) renews it, we’ll come back with season II,” he said.
“Bingo” opened Jan 23 with a TRP of 5.1, the highest for a Bollywood-anchored non-fiction entertainment show since 2008, according to Television Audience Measurement (TAM).
It has beaten the opening ratings of the shows hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Rajeev Khandelwal.
Apart from the serial, Abhishek is busy with films like “Raavan”, “Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey”, “Crooked” and the Hindi adaptation of “The Italian Job”.
When asked if all the four Bachchans - his father, mother, wife and himself - would be seen together in a movie or TV show, he told IANS: “Hopefully! As of now, we haven’t been approached with anything together. But if we do and we all like it, I’m sure we’ll do it.”
“Whatever I am today is because of my parents and my family. Whatever I have learnt in life, whether it is personal or professional has been from my parents,” he added.
The Bachchans are referred as the first family of Bollywood, but Abhishek doesn’t pay heed to such titles.
“We’re a family. We are happy about that. Being the first, second or third family doesn’t matter to us. That changes every two years,” he said

I was looking forward to the music of Teen Patti because the background score in the trailers appealed to me and Salim-Sulaiman are background score specialists and do a great job with soundtracks too. Moreover, Leena Yadav’s last film, Shabd, had spectacular songs (Sholon Si and Khoya Khoya rank among my favourites even today) for instance. I expected the album of Teen Patti to be international and classy with rock and hip-hop elements. Teen Patti offers that with a dollop of drama. The lyrics are a cautionary tale against gambling, greed, money and the like.
Teen Patti is a niche album because many of the songs are in English, but if you like it, you could listen to it all day. Among our favourites on the album are: Neeyat and its remix, Life is a game and Summertime and the living.
The sizzling video of Neeyat has got everyone hooked. For those wondering, the pole-dancing lady with the body of a goddess, is Brazilian model Mariah. Neeyat is a song that you will either hate or get addicted to. Sunidhi Chauhan is at her seductive best after ages and you can sense that she is enjoying herself, showing off her fabulous range in this dramatic song. We love the Spanish elements in the song. The remix is interspersed with Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Khel hai baby/khel hai’ and unmatched laughter and some rapping. The catchy beat will get you grooving and it would be fantastic to the do the Salsa to. Some may prefer this to the original.
Intezaar me chupa kahi is a rock song featuring Naresh Kamat who modulates his tone and pitch very well. The song builds up rather nicely and the guitars are impressive. There is an element of suspense in the song. A good rock song after ages! The remix is tolerable.
Salim Merchant gets behind the mike for Teen Patti ke ghulam. The song is reminiscent of Aankh micholi from Dev D. Salim is getting better and smoother with every song. The fusion of several instruments is interesting and the dance number is quite catchy. The remix will be hit with club-goers.
Amitabh Bachchan opens and deals out pearls of wisdom throughout Life is a game. Newbie Sonia Sehgal takes over, unleashing her full-throated English vocals. She has a powerful voice, like that of Suzie Q, and is quite a find. We like the dramatic element of the song. It sounds international. The Hindi version is equally good. Sonia sounds like Anushka Manchanda.
Summertime has an international sound and you can almost visualize the characters entering a plush casino. Alternatively, it could be an introductory song for one of the characters (the rich one). Joe Alvares impresses with his range and we like the playfulness in his voice.

It is a rare case now to see Aishwariya Rai sizziling out on screens often but finally she has decided to make a comeback to show her jalwa at an oldie hit number ‘Apni to jaise taise, thodi aise ya waise’ from her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Lawaris’.
Though she is hard admirer of her father-in-law but this is the first time she will be performing in his previous hit number. Sajid Nadiadwala has brought the rights of the music to use it in one of his promotional track for his upcoming movie ‘Housefull’ starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead.
Sajid is excited to feature Aishwarya in this item number, source states, “Talks are currently on with Aishwarya and things should get finalised in a couple of days. Both the Sajids - Nadiadwala and Khan - loved the idea of using the song and bought the rights from the music company. Everyone knows it was a chartbuster in its heyday.”
But Sajid has different story to add, he states, “Yes, we have bought the rights of the song but Aishwarya Rai is not in our version. We can confirm names only when everything is finalised.” But the director Sajid Khan seems quite positive, he states, “I will neither confirm nor deny the news. We will be making an announcement at the right time.”
The song sequence is heard to be shot in a grand scale with over 500 extras and about 200 dancers on a huge set at Filmcity, where Ashwariya will perform her jalwa after completing ‘Action Replay’. Consequently it will her third item number added to her following two hit numbers’ Ishq Kamina’ and ‘Kajra Re’ earlier.

Other than the climax monologue which is something totally unforgettable, one other scene that has somehow stayed with me is when you’ve just come to know of the truth thru the CD, and Paresh Rawal has come to your home and meets you. In those few moments, you say NOTHING and even your lips don’t quite move, but your expressions & your eyes speak volumes!!! CLASS ACT!!!!

As an ardent fan, since birth, 1969, I urge you to select scripts and probably hire consultants to ensure that the script has no fundamental gaps. Please select good scripts and innovative directors who have the capacity to draw on your immense pool of talent, like Mukul Anand in Agneepath. My daughter 15 and son 12 thoroughly enjoyed PAA, but after AAG my wife will only see your movie if Anupama Chopra gives it a thumbs up, hence for RANN I am left with no choice but wait for the DVD. I am so happy to read # 89 Jasmine of London who googled about a persons name and commented they definitely must be decent people. Yes ! Every human being is decent But their ‘actions’ ‘acting’ gets them a tag of ‘bad’ ‘spoilt’ ‘not decent’
But believe me, When I was 10 years old and was seated in the front seat in my uncles taxi at Tardeo and the front glass broke and stone fell in my lap. I asked innocently to my uncle ‘ Why are they throwing stones? Why are they breaking so many things ? Why are they shouting? Why are they closing shops? Why are they telling close down everything? Why are they saying Bandh! Bandh! Bandh!
And till today , after few decades I am still looking for answers, ‘right’ ones!
I wonder:-
a) How will they who throw stones feel if one of the stones fall on their head? Are stones not used to build houses?
b) How will they who burn the tyres feel when and if one of the good tyres of their vehicles gets damaged and needs emergency replacement? Are tyres not meant to take us places and smoothly?
c) How will their families at home feel if their dear ones get stuck due to no public transport since many are destroyed/burned?
d) What if one of their own shops, offices, establishments comes under attack and has to undergo heavy losses?
e) What if a relative or friends wife have to deliver baby at home due to no transport?
f) What if a relative or friend or anyone cannot reach the hospital on getting an health attack-Heart/BP/Live/Kidney/fracture anything?
g) Does anyone imagine the baby’s cry who has no milk which is her/his only food for the day due to bandh!
h) The trauma on missing or postponing students examinations?
i) The expense loss and wedding preparations halted due to sudden cancellation!
j) what of the dead who cannot rest in peace as no way to reach their final journey too.
k) It is good time to play any sports during such happenings? Can they play sportingly ?
etc.etc…. to say in short
AUTHORITY means to invent, advice, influence, command in a way that it brings JOY, LOVE, PEACE & HARMONY. May we all be blessed with such grace and dignity.

Your posts are progressively becoming more enigmatic and difficult to understand, these days. The absence of the reason of your controlled rage and oblique references are becoming a worrisome factor for me to deal with and respond to. It is impossible for me to gauge as to what has triggered off this essay on Authority this morning, much as it is difficult for me to understand what exactly it is that you are wondering about aloud, or looking for answers to.
However, the other day the catalyst was the mention of the honorable CM of Gujarat, which precipitated some hard hitting ‘truths’ forthcoming from your FmExt, and today again you mention the generally love-to-hate names of the Father and the Son Thakeray. Should I succumb to the bait or shouldn’t I? I think I will!
Drawing courage from your line : ” Is it of value to be in authority amongst ourselves - we are all equals and friends …” , and assuming that I shall not be taken to task for speaking my mind yet again, your mention of an endearing element in the Sr.Thakeray’s ‘resoluteness’ makes me wonder.
Resolution assumes different implications depending upon the cause for which it is manifested. As far as most of the world knows, and from what I have seen of this family since I came of age, their resolutions, their penchant and their insistence upon comparisons and their constant need to define and demarcate regions based on caste and language, are very shameful and detrimental to the efforts of our government in stemming such efforts from external forces. And it is very disquieting for me, as a citizen of a supposedly democratic country, to realize how far into duality and how deeply into separatism they have submerged the perceptions of the poor uneducated, unsuspecting man on the streets. It becomes all the more despicable when such resoluteness is nurtured as a means for creating one’s livelihood, as it were, and used as a weapon for securing one’s own familial fortunes…be they materialistic or otherwise.
The level of a society is reflected, inevitably, in the degree of its duality thinking. Social evolution is demonstrated by a movement towards unity, not separatism. And unity becomes a yardstick here, because unity is the truth of our existence as a country. As long as our society sees itself as separate, it will be living in an illusion, and the realities of illusions are always disastrous. Leaders of political parties, who choose violence and fear as a means to ‘get there’ leaves a society fragmented, tormented and shattered. In a democracy, it is imperative that authority is discharged over the citizens by only those who have been charged to do it, under our constitution. Killing outside of the law, can never be justified as a means of expressing anger, releasing hostility, righting a wrong or punishing ‘an offender’.
Before I sign off, please accept my apologies, in anticipation of having hurt your sentiments, though I assure you that this was never the intention at all. I hope that I have convinced you enough for you to believe and understand that the above communication was based purely on certain facts which are no secret at all, and were not intrusive or judgmental upon your personal friendship with the said family. Those who choose to come into public life ought to be prepared for public scrutiny as well.

a good day to you. congratulations on your fantastic work from a fan of yours. a fan, because of the kind of work you have done. but more so because it always seemed to me that u are a celebrity that understands the kind of celebrity worship culture we have in our country and hence, the gravity of your actions and its repercussions, direct or indirect, on the social and moral fiber of the country. basing on that i have always found myself respecting and admiring you and a lot of the things you have done and spoken. However today i find myself immensely disappointed when i came to hear that you are endorsing Gujarat as a tourism destination. It is right, and true , what you said that Gujarat is not Mr Modi. However one cannot also dissociate the fact that Modi is too intricately involved in this issue and any endorsement of Gujarat carries an indirect associative relation between you and Mr. Modi and therefore what he stands for. We the people, cannot fight politicians except indirectly. Once they have attained their positions and lawmaking powers, they are directly responsible for what they do. we can only have influence in whether we condone them or not by voting for or against them. You being a celebrity and therefore someone whose words and actions are given an immediate light and standpoint are slightly more powerful in influence. hence I would have expected that you would have realized that you are sending a wrong message, however direct or indirect, that in some way you are forgiving/ignoring if not condoning what Mr. Modi did during the riots and his divisive policies. what India needs today is to realize that we all are in the same boat and the only way we can reach our true potential is if we can all stand together and work our way to prosperity; not by hating each other in the name of religion, caste, sex, sexuality, race etc etc…hence i believe that it is imperative for every intelligent and responsible Indian to make sure that they use every opportunity to stand against such divisive and hatred filled philosophies and their propagators. Mr Modi picked religion, Mr Thackeray picks regionalism, or some right wing nationalists like Ram Sena prefers beating up free citizens when they go to a pub in the name of culture……we already have enough people who are utilizing their rhetoric to lead astray, uneducated and therefore susceptible to influence, youth, who then go around rampaging like mad bulldogs and fighting in the name of culture and heritage. India is the land of Bhagvata Gita. we believe in Karma philosophy. and yet people are unable to understand that any form of divisive policy is against the thread of Karma because then in future this is going to come back and hound you for sure. and it is here that i feel that you should, all the more because of the respect and status u enjoy amongst us, not be associated and thereby presumed to be supporting someone as lethal and vile as Mr. Modi and his policies which go so against the grain of humanity an true Indian heritage. and thus my disappointment. I have nothing against Gujarat or Guajaratis, but everything against such criminal, divisive and arrogant inhuman politicans. Your promoting Gujarat is not the issue, but promoting it while Mr Modi is the chief minister of Gujarat is the Issue. Because in the end any positive assertion for Gujarat is going to be seen as a positive reflection on Mr. Modi and hence his policies as well. I was especially seriously offended when I saw pictures of you smiling and standing with Mr Modi getting photographed, at the NDTV site . Even before your campaign for Gujarat has started, your campaign for Mr Modi seems to have come to fruition ironically, judging by the pictures. Now i hope you see what i mean when i say, Gujarat promotion and Mr Modi promotion are not separate.
I have always liked the way you and your family has worked ethically while endorsing anything. I am especially happy to see that you and especially something Aishwarya has consistently done, have not jumped on to the bandwagon of endorsing fairness creams for women and men, which seems to the latest fad of all great Indian film superstars. It seems a Shahrukh Khan or a John Abraham or any of the other great actresses are not earning enough since they find it essential to come on tv and peddle products that form a core basis of racist behavior.maybe we normal people should start a fund for them so that they can then refrain from doing such promotions ! every time i see these ads it makes me furious that we have the gall to call anyone else racists. what is the difference between a white hating a brown person cause of his skin color and a fair Indian person looking down upon a dark Indian skin tone. I say none! So I thank you and your family for this display of sensitivity and responsibilty in your choice of endorsements. which is why i hope you would rethink about your endorsing gujarat tourism, only as long as the person in charge is Mr Modi.
I do hope sincerely that you will come to agree and see the reason and sense behind my arguement and hence find it in yourself to change your viewpoint and this stand you have taken. However even while i write this my left brain tells me, no, he wont! Please prove me wrong! and please i think you deserve a better person beside you in your pictures than the likes of Mr. Modi or any such people of like mind.

I am actually here to say “why cant Bollywood(Hindi Film industry), Hindi TV industry and Share Market change its base from Mumbai to some Hindi speaking state”, giving equal opportunity to all Indians(for Maharastrians too). If this happens then no North Indian will enter Mumbai to win bread and there will not be any issues for Marathi people.
I am from IT Hub of India and here at every step we see people from different state, speakig diff language but we never behaved like Marathi’s and never had violence about it because we understand its we country(Indian) first, we strive for development of Nation not for only state or local.

I personally feel AUTHORITY are cultivated influences by humans fulfilling ones selfish motive without realising true facts, inability to identify thyself why GOD has sent one to this universal school-”earth”.
GOD gave us to live, to earn our bread, the cloud, the breeze, Sun, moon, and sky with busy motion toil, That we may eat & live in peace and harmony, remembering God the while: Should man serve less obediently than these ? influencing ourselves with wrong notions - dominating with Authority - who & what are we ? Howsoever - positioned is an unanswered quest.
The media or medium functioned with Authority can only misinterpret themselves successul and end-up in to severe ramification, without identifying the core fact of Humans “true surrenderance” for peace. It is real despair that Authority prevails as you had rightly said thru a dialogue in AGNIPATH - one thing eating the other to power has changed ethics and culture of humans and making TRUTH PREVAIL at times besides only after Death.

Tahir Hussain, well-known filmmaker and Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s father, died of a massive heart attack here on
He is survived by his wife and two sons, Aamir and Faisal, and two daughters, Farhat and Nikhat.
Hussain is known for producing hits like “Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke” (1993) that starred son Aamir, “Dulha Bikta Hai” (1982), “Zakhmee” (1975), “Anamika” (1973) and “Caravan” (1971). In 1990, he made his directorial debut with “Tum Mere Ho” with Aamir and Juhi Chawla.
Family sources said Hussain died at Aamir’s residence in Bandra. Aamir and his wife Kiran are in the US for the Sundance Festival and are taking the first flight home. Hussain’s grandson, Imran Khan, who made his debut with “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na”, is in New Zealand and will also be coming back

Madhubala passed away at very young age–37 years.She was under constant vigil of her strict father–Attaullah Khan who never allowed her to go out of Mumbai.
Madhubala aka Mumtaz had been signed by B.R. Chopra for his film Naya Daur.
Madhubala refused to go out of Mumbai for shooting and she was dropped and her role was assigned to Vyjayanthimala.
I, like most of her fans never got a chance to see her in person

Authority does not need to exist, it would be beautiful without it. Authority does come in as a result of disrespect of self and others. Who gives them the power. Obviously those who feel a disrespect for self. I am interested in how equality would come more into all areas of human relationships. It would come as a result of respect for self. It may seem simple but deep down we don’t respect ourselves.
Ego feels powerful only when it is aggressive. ‘I’ is limited. Beyond ego we have no understanding of self. As long as we are at the periphery we would derive satisfaction from being authoritative in relationships. it takes away all the beauty that could exist in the relationship. As one move deeper one understands it is ok to be in the situation of vulnerability or power cz the center is affected by neither.
Authority also comes in from a sense of fear. Aware or not, does the other person enjoy being with you or not, does it spoils everything beautiful that this relationship could have brought or not……..would i be ready to give away the Power i enjoy is a question.
Truth is delicate so it has more chances of being harassed.

I never saw Madhubala though I am living in Mumbai since 1948.
The population of the city was much less 6 decades ago and the film actors moved freely . They were never mobbed.
I have seen Dilip kumar and Kamini kaushal while they were shooting for film ARZOO IN kandivali- East. As a school boy Ifollowed them to their resting place after the shoot.At that moment both the actors were attracted towards each other and I saw them indulging in some fun while they were removing their make up.
After some time Nargis came for shooting of film ‘’sheesha” . The unit was shooting in a private bungalow in our area –just two minute walk from our residence.I saw Nargis with a bunch of grapes and as soon as she was told that the shot was ready she immediately got into the act . I was stunned see her transformation.
As I was returning from my office one evening I saw a huge procession which included some top film stars passing through Kalbadevi area of Mumbai.. They were collecting funds for war widows.
I saw Devanand sitting on top of the hood of a truck. They would accept everything. I took out one rupee note and handed over to him and after shaking hand with him .
At Shanker-Jaikishan live show at Birla Matushri hall opposite Liberty cinema I saw number of film stars–Dilip Kumar,Saira Banu, Raj Kapoor, Nargis and others .
Manoj kumar was often seen loitering with his friends outside a hotel near Marine Drive Church Gate–Railway station.
I saw Darmendra immediately after he was selected by Filmfare for films in lobby of Liberty cinema. He had grown long hair ,looked skiny and shy. He was seen moving freely in his earlier days.
At Mumbai Gymkhana ground jeetendra , shashi kapoor, Sanjay Khan and some others actors were seen playing cricket match.It an open ground and there were no large crowd to watch film actors.
There is a Dana Pani beach in Malad West and I, my daughter and My daughter-in -law often used to go for driving . once we saw Shahrukh Khan and Sonali Bendre shooting for a film. Shahrukhan had to go inside the water and come running to Sonali singing a song.
Once marathi actress Ashwini Bhave was seen shooting for a film.
Dana Pani beach is a famous location for film shooting –just half an hour drive from our place.
I was taken by surprise when I saw Nutan walking on pavement in Fort area. She was without make up and no one recognised her . She appeared quite tense. She passed away after some time due to cancer.
Recently at the special screening of film”Jewel Thief” arranged by FM channel Mirchi of Times group at Regal cinema I met Devanand and Amrita Rao–the young charming actress who sportingly posed for photographs.

I am so pissed off wid myself today…being unable to talk to you.. DAMN LUCK. I live in New Jersey and you were live on EBC radio. I pulled off on the freeway while on way to work and kept waiting for it to be 10.AM to get to hear you and call. I did so.. not to loose the FM radio whose signals shuts off when i travel towards work.. some 50 miles away.

A brief scan through various Indian news sources this morning indeed insinuates tensions would be piquing in your immediate vicinity presently. As ever, my heart goes out you for bearing these insufferable encumbrances of public life! No statement or action is sacred, every gesture subject to analysis, misrepresentation and unapprised judgement. Never mind ‘authority figures‘, constitution and law - the self imposed ‘authorities’ in our midst, we the pubic, can form the most perverse judgements on one another, instigating the most damaging repercussions on the judged. Of course our common culture now dictates it is acceptable to scrutinize public figures as though we claim ownership over their existences simply by buying into the product they impart. But does that reflect a civilised society, one that strives for democracy and parity for itself; yet administers the polar opposite to others! “Never judge another until you’ve walked a mile in his shoes” is ‘the quote of the day’ in my diary page for yesterday, which I thought warranted sharing in light of - well everything.
On another point, if one is aggressive in defence of their actions it does not necessarily demonstrate strength. Physical aggression often indicates an air of vulnerability, inner weakness, a lack of discipline. When one protests his innocence too vehemently I often think they are overcompensating; whereas there is strength and durability in peace and silence.
I’m probably as obscure as you are today. Woke up achy and fluey with a mind unimaginably even less coherent than usual.
But did want to send love and strength for whatever delights the day has bequeathed. Please take of yourself my sweetest Mr Bachchan.

Crave to be certain, to be right, to be successful, to know; and this desire for certainty, for permanence, builds up within ourselves the authority of personal experience, while outwardly it creates the authority of society, of the family, of religion, and so on. But merely to ignore authority, to shake off its outward symbols, is of very little significance.
Dear Mr Bachchan, It appears that actors do not neccessarily have any script sense. A gr8 performance wasted on a stupid sscript. Ram Gopal Verma obviously knew of your hatred towards the media and he spun you a yarn. It is too far fetched. When was the last time that you saw a father - however uprighteous - kill his own son? Did Sunil Dutt shoot Sunjay Dutt? Did Mrs Gandhi shoot Sanjay Gandhi? Did any hit -and- run driver’s father denounce his son? No, na? How can you call Rann a realistic film? I have not seen Rann, so I would not comment on the particular movie but I believe that how a movie fares at the box office is not a criteria to judge how good any given film is. Take Delhi 6 for eg, superb storyline, great acting, detailed direction, dialogues, cinematography, Feasibility; its all there. I mean, no matter how many times my family and I watch it we are never bored with it.
Saawariya too for instance is a movie that spins poetry in every scene.Amazing that such movies are lost and mediocre movies make it big at the box office.
Anyways, there is always a next time ……..

Vishal Bhardwaj has done it again. After the success of ‘Kaminey’, his rustic ‘Ishqiya’ has beaten the Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Rann’ at the box office, thanks to its appealing content.
‘Ishqiya’ elbows out ‘Rann’ at box office
Both movies released Friday and had star-studded red-carpet premieres in the capital Thursday, but ‘Ishqiya’ took the cake with almost 80 percent collections in the opening weekend. ‘Rann’ got only around 30 percent collections.
“‘Ishqiya’ has got a strong opening in both Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in both multiplexes and single-screens. It has got around 80 percent business over the initial weekend,” Yogesh Raizada, corporate head (cinemas) of Wave Cinemas, told us.
“The dialogue delivery in the movie is very good and it is a typical masala movie but the drawback is that everyone might not like it because it has its own class. While ‘Rann’ is gripping but has managed only around 30 percent opening. There has been no initial for this one. It has its own class but no mass appeal,” he added.
Delhi-based distributor Joginder Mahajan also echoed the same.
“‘Rann’ has fared very poorly thanks to its subject. ‘Ishqiya’ on the other hand has been average vis-a-vis ‘Rann’. It is an ordinary affair with local appeal. Though the masses are watching it but the film is not for everyone because some are finding it a bit cheap,” said Mahajan.
“Surprisingly, ‘Ishqiya’ is performing better in multiplexes and not in B and C sectors. We are expecting it to earn an average Rs.2 crore overall in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh,” he added.
Distributed in India by Boney and Sridevi Kapoor’s film and television entertainment company BSK Network and Entertainment Pvt Ltd, ‘Ishqiya’ has been co-produced by Shemaroo Entertainment and Vishal Bhardwaj.
The directorial debut of Abhishek Chaubey, the movie has actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi.
‘Rann’ on the other hand has been made at a budget of Rs.30 crore and is primarily about the conflict between business and conscience in the electronic media. It features megastar Amitabh Bachchan along with Riteish Deshmukh, Gul Panag and Paresh Rawal.
“The failure of ‘Rann’ has again given a dud out of Ram Gopal Varma’s camp. While ‘Ishqiya’ has the rustic and poetic appeal very common to Vishal Bhardwaj. No matter whatever the fate, his movies somehow do manage to leave an effect on the audiences’ minds,” said an industry source.
Expected to stretch for the week, ‘Ishqiya’ now sees competition with Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol’s much-awaited first release of the year ‘My Name Is Khan’ releasing Friday.
Directed by Karan Johar, the film marks the coming together of Johar, Shah Rukh and Kajol after nine years after their last outing ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ (2001).

MUMBAI: Calling the expulsion of Amar Singh as wrong that would hurt the party, Jaya Bachchan on Tuesday said that she would quit the Samajwadi

“If they want me to leave then they should ask,” she said when asked whether she would quit the party.
The Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha member said she was “sad and hurt” at the expulsion of Amar Singh and Jaya Prada.
“I am sad and hurt. This is a very wrong decision and would hurt the party in future,” she said.
Bachchan, who was brought into Samajwadi party by Amar Singh, said that it was sad that Mulayam Singh has been bullied by people around him into taking action against Amar Singh.
“A lot of people have managed to bully Mulayam Singhji into taking this decision. Mulayam Singhji has great love and affection for Amar Singhji who was like a shield to his leader. I am worried and concerned that the shield has been removed,” the actor-politician said.
Bachchan said she had interacted with Mulayam after Amar’s resignation from party posts and added that the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister was still her leader.

I saw your movie RANN and it could not have come out at more relevant time. The story has strong shades of what is happening in India today.
Media today has the power over the perception of common men and authorities alike. Anyone with money, power and tactfulness can use the media to prejudice everyone against anyone.It is almost similar to the media coverage of now infamous Madhu Koda and his Rs.4000 cr hawala scam.
If I say at this juncture that Madhu Koda is a victim of a political conspiracy and conspirators have used the media to establish him as guilty even before the charges are proved against him, anyone may think that I am trying to exonerate him. However my efforts are aimed at revealing the truth.
Madhu Koda case is a typical case of how media is being prejudiced and managed and not by the accused but by the accusers. You may find out how PIL against Madhu Koda accusing him of Rs. 4000 cr. scam is a bogus proxy litigation. However the conspirators have managed the media so well and prejudiced the concerned authorities that the accused have been established guilty as charged in the eyes of almost entire country.

Talking about fondness for daughters, actress Preity Zinta even went on to adopt 34 orphan girls from the Mother Miracle School in Hrishikesh on the occasion of her last birthday. Preity states, “”I’ve adopted 34 girls. I’ve been looking after their entire upbringing from education to food, clothes etc. You’ve no idea how wonderful it feels to hear the excited chatter of all these girls together.”
Elaborating on her decision, Preity said, “I had been thinking of what to do to help the less privileged classes specially the girl child. The horrors of foeticide and rampant child abuse are not just screaming news headlines for me. They’re voices that scream from inside me. And I had to listen to them. These 34 girls are just a beginning. I plan to adopt a couple more every year.”

But on the other hand, the media says that while the shiv-sena is targetting SRK for his comments and is threatening to stop his forthcoming movie, Mr.Amitabh Bachchan is going public with his words of praise for the shiv-sainiks. Sir, with due respect to you, I would like to ask you : If the whole bollywood fraternity join hands together against the gundaism of the shiv-sainiks, would you be agreeing to join them even after the above statements. A short story to help you go thru the introspection ….
A rat looked through a crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife opening a package. What food might it contain? He was aghast to discover that it was a rat trap. Retreating to the farmyard the rat proclaimed the warning; “There is a rat trap in the house, a rat trap in the house!”
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, “Excuse me, Mr. Rat, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it.”
The rat turned to the pig and told him, “There is a rat trap in the house, a rat trap in the house!”
“I am so very sorry Mr. Rat,” sympathized the pig, “but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured that you are in my prayers.”
The rat turned to the cow. She said, “Like wow, Mr. Rat. A rat trap. I am in grave danger. Duh?”
So the rat returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer’s rat trap alone.

I read in the news that you turned down an honor from an Australian University in light of the racist attacks against Indians there. Well, I do not know if the said university was directly responsible for the attacks, but nonetheless you made your point.
Just wondering though, when a bunch of Indian hooligans meet out the same treatment to Indians from another part of the country, you become totally apolitical. You treat those people to your movies and pretend as if you have nothing to do with such affairs. You are just an actor, an artist.
I salute your hypocrisy. You remind me of Ernst Janning from Judgement at Nuremberg. At the end of the movie, he tries to justify his support for Hitler even while not identifying with his policies. You must have your reasons too.

I am a fan of yours since my school days, and like many others came to see you in mumbai and also wished to offer my blood during Coolie accident.That tym i was in colege and a big fan of yours. I saw kabhi kabhi countless times. And one funny incedent i saw many of your initial movies may be with three or four cinegoer sin the whole cinema hall, you must have given flop movies in those days but i loved and saw it with patience , Now coming to you dear sir you have sufferd most in the hands of I T officials ,Govt and others, it is the love of your fans which keeps you going, M i right? Finally i request you to please open a few schools in all parts of india where poor also get education, where poor get free school dress ,shoes and books.It will be done by opening a charitable trust which can get 100% tax exemption ,all what you pay in income tax should go in this trust, and students will study remembering you whole life

I am a great fan of your acting and used to watch all your movies with great admiration. However, I find your support of Mr.Thackeray quite disappointing. He is one of the major divider of people among religious and regional lines in India. How can he accuse other people of being a traitor when he is the one who potrays the ugly side of Indian democracy. He doesn’t believe in democracy, but believes in oligarchy. I earnestly plead with you to reconsider your support of him.

It is indeed gratifying to note that a lot of your fans like me have found your stand on the Thackreys and Modi to be absurd. Though it is gracious of you to have those comments remain here, I believe that you would do us all a big favour by not hauling us over the coals with your statements and associations. I am from Punjab but I support the stand of Shiv Sena that Marathis should be given priority for all opportunities(Job, business, Housing etc) in Mumbai and Maharashtra but I don’t support all their other idiocies. I like Mr. Modi a lot for his proactive part in the development of Gujarat and the fact that he is incorruptible but that doesn’t mean that I will shut my eyes to his part in the genocide of Muslims in Gujarat.
What I essentially want to request you is that you don’t need the crutches of the likes of Mr. Narendra Modi and the Thackreys. Please admire them, like them or do whatever you want in your personal life but you have a public persona in which you owe a duty to yourself and to your larger family. Political backing, Charisma,talent and money alone are not enough to make the stature of a person big, it is what you do and what you say are more important. Please look at Rahul Gandhi..In his four hours in Mumbai today, he has made all the Thackreys look like quibbling dwarfs.

Nice to see you promoting Gujrat and you are in good friendship with one of the most powerful politician of India Modi Ji. To be very honest, people dont like your soft corner towards Samajwadi party and Amar Singh. Their image is so bad. Thank God you are associating yourself with Modi Ji and BJP.
You are the most powerful man in Bollywood and in many countries people know Indian Film Industry and India because of you.
Trust me, Abishek is the next superstar of Indian Film Industry. Watch him in Yuva, Run, Bunty aur Bubbly, Guru, Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Dhoom 1 and 2, Dus, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Paa. Wow so many hits under his belt. Its a request to you, please ask him to come back in his Bunty aur Bubbly look. He is young and charming, that looks suits him the best, not the beard one. Please please tell him to do so.
On IPL issue, i personally think Shiv Sena is right this time. SRK is wrong and he deserves such treatment. Whenever common people like me hears media favouring SRK for such nonsense our blood boils. Especially channels like NDTV and India TV are really bad. Common people of India dont support this stand of SRK. If you meet him, please put some sense in his head.

‘RANN’ has the most excellent cast, impressive performances and a very inspiring climax. As usual, I was moved after watching your character of Harshvardhan Malik who exposes the scam led by Mohan Pande (Paresh Rawal at his best). I was also proud to see ‘aaplaya mulga’ Riteish along-with you in the movie. I must say, he acted well.
Amitji, your character has taught us a lesson of swallowing the hard truth. The media will surely acknowledge their responsibilities after watching this one. At least, we can hope so
