5 Days to PAA releasing December 4th 2009
It takes a while to digest an evening of such immense emotion and joy. It takes a while too to remove yourself from one clime to another. Another that reflects your sense of creativity and aesthetics, your labor and love, your passion.
For all this to transpire in an evening requires capabilities that sometimes remain humanly impossible. But we as artists or ones that have the temerity to call ourselves one, have been relentlessly trained through deliberate compulsions, to abide by events that come our way in such form.
The ‘Bachchan Sandhya’ took me back with each reference to my Father, to the days spent with him and his travels in sometimes harsh circumstances, to the countless poetic soirees in and around the city we lived in - an act that would bring in that extra 500 to a 1000 rupees, so valuable for our kitchen and home. Having worked in office the entire day for my Father to then be driven out for hours into the night to neighboring destinations and then to perform all night his poetry and return in the early hours of the morning to start the next day in office, was an incredible physical exertion. But no matter where we were or in what circumstances, the joy of seeing the multitudes enjoying his recitation gave him the required adrenalin to last the rigors of the night.
Those moments have remained deeply imbedded within me. The travel, the crowds, the elation and appreciation, the renditions and the tired exhausted bodies returning home to the warm and affectionate arms of my Mother, are all a part of me now. I am blessed by their presence in my life. Blessed that I was exposed to them, influenced by them to an extent that they shall never ever leave me. They are my greatest and most loved acquisition. I may lose all that I possess - my name, my stunted fame and my material gains, but my ‘acquisition’ shall never be lost.
The flow of emotion last night at the commemoration for my Father was indescribable. There were among the audience those that had been and heard my Father live. Those that had drenched themselves with the nectar of his words, his feelings and his philosophy. Those that had struggled and lived through their own demons and then discovered their destruction through his poems. The atmosphere was strange in many respects. They cried not because of sadness, nor did they laugh because they were amused. They just willingly succumbed to or rather gave themselves in to the moment because of its beauty, because of its connection to, not necessarily a spell they may have individually experienced in his presence sometime, but simply because of its association with an emotion an incident or thought, that had at some point been of eminence in their lives.
My Father in one of the prologues he wrote as an introduction to his works had been so specific. He had said that what would give him the greatest joy from his readers would be the fact of finding ‘themselves’ in his poetry, rather than the other way round. Last night many in the audience found themselves in his work and words - a sign of a great poet !
That over, a quick switch took over our countenance. The first trial for cast and crew, as is the norm, of the film PAA. Two diametrically opposite emotions, two diametrically opposite audience - though there was a slight spill over - but the same render.
A stunned silence can become very ominous at times, as can a delayed applause. A silence that eventually discovers its voice a little later is healthy, and the early morning, did find it later. For me to elaborate on this would be most unnecessary and not prudent at all. A few more days and the facts would be out. We must submit to them for ‘whom the bells shall toll’. So we rest.
There is a strange sense of not wanting. Not wanting anything to move, to speak, to opinionate, to obey, to judge to … just be …
Its a case of uncared for nothingness. A time when you feel that nothing shall go right and so it be best to resign ourselves to the eventuality, come what may. It happens. It is natural. I am certain a good nights rest would bring in fresh meaning. I do look forward to that.
My love and my care and … much more ..

Thank you for writing in such detail about the Bachchan Sandhya and your own feelings.

Hello Sir,
I just get the feeling that PAA is going to be yet another landmark film in your illustrious career. It will be the league of films like Black or even better. My good wishes for the same.
Wonderful narration of the Kavi Sammelans you attended with your father! It always great to walk down the memory lanes…coz they form our basic DNA.

your prayers needed ….
DEAR SIR,
GREETINGS TO YOU.
I fail to understand why we cannot accept criticism of self even when, deep down, we know, that it is TRUE. Why do we shun or dislike those, who try to show us the ‘mirror’?
We happily gulp down poisonous junk, because it is deceptively sweet…. And throw away healthy food, because we don’t find it tasty.
BB3’s housemates used to prefer Rohit over Vindoo … only because the former would wrap the venom in sweet coatings and the later would wrap it in a transparent wrapper.
Isn’t an open pit far less dangerous than the one with false n flimsy covering ??!!
Be it BB3/,society/,or workplace, People like Rohit exploit this very trait of ours and even when exposed— get away by’ made to order’ tears ,synthetic emotions and glib talk.
I wonder, if people these days have even heard the saying –- NINDAK NIYAARE RAAKHIYE AANGAN KUTI CHAVAAYE—bin saabun paani bina, nirmal kare subhaaye.
It is rightly said,’A critic only ,will tell you—what a friend will withhold.
glad you react to the reactions .. love
Dear Mr. B,

Please respond to this comment you can wish me Happy Birthday and that will be the biggest gift ever! Take Care!

Sir
Paa promos need to be on a new level from Monday onwards, you need that extra PUSH to give (how dumb of me to give advice to a man who has 40 year experince behind him, par kya karu ? controll hi nahi hotha
)
Very happy for you that Bachchan Sandhya went very well, Kool
Manoj
will do our best …
Amitji, I commend you for the way you have summarized the audience reaction. For something truly indescribable, you described it brilliantly. I relate to all of the above.
A truly remarkable, extraordinary piece of writing — descriptive, analytical, thoughtful, thought provking, tender all at the same time. Will not even attempt to comment on what you’ve said, analyze it, or agree or disagree with you.
Simply savor it for its sheer beauty and depth of emotion.
I hope you have a good night’s rest.
Also, a missing comma in my previous comment has the capacity of altering the meaning entirely. There should’ve been one after “admiring”. We admired Dr. Bachchan for his own self, his tremendous body of work and his literay gems, and we are fortunate to see him through his equally illustrious son’s eyes.

Dear Amit ji,
I am Waiting for PAA to release.
and hope it will create something different in Bollywood.
Good Night.
i hope so too …
My response from yesterday:
Congratulations on the completion of what surely sounds like a remarkable evening.. but then mesmerizing your audience has not been uncommon to you! If your father is like any other important poet always waiting for a newer audience to rediscover him or reconfigure his legacy you are it must be said the perfect ‘voice’ to renew these aspirations. A great poet finds the greatest of actors, the most duty bound of sons, exhibiting a touching ‘filial piety’ that would have even pleased Confucius!
whatever we can do in his memory would be insufficient ..
DEAR AMIT JI,
CONGRATULATIONS FOR A SUCCESSFUL BACHCHAN SANDHYA .MUST HAVE BEEN A VERY ENRICHING AND TOUCHING EXPERCIENCE FOR YOU,
ITS DIFFICULT TO ASSESS, , AS TO WHO WAS MORE FORTUNATE OUT OF THE TWO …
BABUJI TO BE BLESSED WITH A SON LIKE YOU—OR—YOU , FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE A FATHER IN SHRI HARIVANSH RAI BACHCHAN !!
ACTUALLY , ITS LIKE ASKING—— WHICH EYE IS LUCKIER - LEFT or RIGHT ??
May the same bond, love, respect and synergy nurture between you and abhishek.
With regards and positive envy,
Rupa jha
thank you Rupa …
Dear Sir,
Would love to hear something bout ur brother from you.

The excitement over the release must be buzzing in your home. I can just imagine how anxious everyone must be getting. It is the anticipation of will people appreciate all the hard work and sacrfice put into the film by so many people. It makes me nervous for you, wanting to really like the movie than holding back a little because I don’t want to over-hype it and than be disappointed. Regardless, I promise to be honest.
As always, best wishes.
thank you and love i hope it gets appreciation ..

PAA promos look great…
Can’t wait to catch the movie.
But with all due respect, did your make up in the movie have to look so hidious ? Couldn’t it have been done in an other way?
Just a point of view.
You still rock.
tina it would be an insult and insensitive to comment on the looks of children that suffer this disease .. all progeria patients look like this ..
Dear Amitji
we saw you giving Rohit a Paa Premier tickts on last Big Boss 3. Its so sweet
I must say it would be great if we can see more of PAA like Auro giving social message about Polio/AIDS etc. That would help society as Auro has got special place in people’s heart
Thanks

Hello!
Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
Your beautiful entry on this evening of poetry gave a wonderful warm feeling .
With it in me I am going for my day.. And I hope to write to you more later..
*
Thank you for your love and care and much more … !
God bless.
My love and prayers.

Dearest Mr Bachchan
Truly this is the most beautiful and heart rending post. I am happy beyond any words that last night was so emotional and momentous for everyone blessed to be there, and most especially for you.
I can understand this calm before the storm, this strange stillness before the next wave of emotions that will undoubtedly be unleashed when PAA is finally seen by the world. And I think you are soooooo wise not to elaborate further on the response to the cast and crew screening today.. just hold these things close to your heart for a few more precious days.. until the public gaze and reaction becomes inevitable … I am trying to remain in a state of calm and happy anticipation now that the hour is so near… and do hope that deep tranquility and satisfaction will be your resting place tonight after the immense raptures and poetic passions and deeply involved and appreciative emotions of last night’s unique event.
With all my love, Daisy
love to you and hope for prayers ..
Dear Amitji,
The Madhushla book launch, or Bachchan Sandhya souns and looks lke it went well from the few clips I saw on NDTV. I wish the event was televised as I would have loved to be introduced to some great poetry from Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan. It would have been an honor to sit in the crowd of the event, but I live in the US and unforutunately am not able to attend such wonderful events. I request that you please upload the video of the event on your blog, so I may watch the entire thing.
I can’t wait for Paa as it releases this week and I look forward to seeing a few days after. All the best with Paa, can’t wait to see more interviews and hear Auro.
p.s. Please say hi to Abhishek and Aishwarya and tell them I loved their LUX ad and wish they did more adds together as their chemistry is fantastic.
Lots of love,
Kunali Shah
thank you i will tell them ..
CONGRATES FOR HAPPY & SUCCESSFUL BACHHAN SANDHYA. SAW U RECITING MADHUSALA ON T.V. YOU WERE FULLY DIPPED IN TO ENCIRCLED EMOTIONS. YOUR RECITATION WAS SUPERB.IT REMINDED ME OF MY RECITATION OF MADHUSALA ON STAGE IN A KAVI DARBAR ORGANIZED BY COLLEGE.

Why don’t you someday make a movie on your dad.I am sure many people would love to see his life on celluloid.I feel Jr B should play the role of Harvanshraiji.
Sir,I would like to know your views on this.

Ref: My Father in one of the prologues he wrote as an introduction to his works had been so specific. He had said that what would give him the greatest joy from his readers would be the fact of finding ‘themselves’ in his poetry, rather than the other way round.

Once again a ’singular’ post.
“There’s husbandry in heaven;
Their candles are all out.”
The world that you evoke when you reminisce about your father, the ‘husbandry’ you often refer to when it comes to his economic decisions with respect to his family, all of this always takes me back to those great Hrishikesh Mukherjee (and not only him) films from an earlier all too bygone era. Today’s cinema is really about the complete lack of ‘husbandry’ in every sense. The 90s was an even worse decade in this respect. Mukherjee’s or Basu Chatterjee’s or Gulzar’s films were always about life lived in the little moments. This was then their perspective on life’s ‘economy’. Not just about grand gestures or tangible material benefits but also about the unsaid and the unexpressed. In a sense the ‘unlived’ (which is not by any means the ‘less lived’). There is a life of the mind and the sentiments that operates away from what one reveals of each within the fabric of one’s social life. Not just ‘others’ out there but also those closest to us can ultimately only be received up to a degree within our inner life. It is something of a ’secret’. Not because we wish to conceal but because the human cannot but conceal even when he or she wishes to be most transparent. Those yesteryear films (and for example the great Malayalam cinema of the 80s I keep referencing) insisted on this ‘economy’.
Abhimaan offers a great example here. So much that goes on in the male protagonist’s mind is left ‘unsaid’. A masterful stroke by the director here. One accesses your character by way of everything you reveal in terms of facial or physical expression. But you never actually say what we think you are feeling or what the characters around you define as your motivations. Even when there is reconciliation towards the end there is never anything as obvious as a ’speech’ that makes lucid one’s reasons or one’s guilt or what have you. Your spouse was always so skilled in using silence in that entire decade and Abhimaan is no exception. Coupled with your own gifts in this sense the film offers a remarkable ‘exchange’ between two modes of silence. Jaya Bachchan’s character is a quieter one to begin. Yours is the more voluble kind and yet he is someone who never actually says what is most crucial.
So Mukherjee practiced this sort of ‘husbandry’. Always accounting for one side of life’s ledger with the other. The tangible with the intangible. The said with the unsaid.
But it was also a cinema of ‘cost’. Another ‘husbandry’. Nothing could be got for nothing. Even in those great masala films where mothers would find their sons after having lost them for twenty years or more, where friends would lose their lives in a gesture of sacrifice for the other, where death would often be lurking in all kinds of situations, where love would often embrace tragedy. It is true that most of masala cinema ended up with ‘happy’ resolutions. But this is to ignore the real ‘costs’ involved in experiencing such or in embarking on such a journey. Because that sort of commercial cinema also depended on the ‘cathartic’ which cannot be felt without genuine emotional investment and an authentic notion of loss. So there was ‘husbandry’ in masala too. Not everyone ended up happily ever after and when they did there was still a sense of the loss of the past haunting the present. Characters who would die in the very closing moments of the film or mothers reconciled with children in similarly final reels! One could never as a viewer simply ‘enjoy’ the happy ending as there was always a lot more to absorb in terms of the various narrative elements.
I have fumed at length on contemporary cinema and I won’t get into this yet again here but suffice it to say this cinema has never known ‘husbandry’ in any sense. Everything can be had for nothing! Not only could one get the girl at the very last minute and at the mandap itself but one also didn’t have to lose a friend for doing so and he would then be kind enough to dance at a wedding he had initially come to with let us say somewhat different expectations. I am referring of course to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. I won’t catalog other examples here. But equally importantly that other sense of ‘husbandry’. There is nothing layered or textured about most of this cinema at any level. Things of course have improved greatly this decade but we still do not see those little moments or little touches I was referring to earlier. It is a cinema of the completely obvious and totally predictable. Even the exceptional films rarely focus on those seemingly minor elements that do so much to enhance a film. I’ve mentioned this before but consider that quintessential moment from an earlier age when the woman would use her pallu to lift the lid off a vessel overflowing with milk after having scalded her fingers for trying to do so without the cloth. This sort of scene never advanced the plot of a narrative. But it gave life, rendered it naturalistic. If the girl would elsewhere sing songs with her lover, she would also have these other moments. No such luck in contemporary cinema. I don’t mean to be unkind of many of the positive changes that have come about but I still think that there is an element of ’soul’ that’s too often missing even in better works because even the ‘different’ or the ‘interesting’ if too much a part of the consumption paradigm and perhaps a bit compromised for that reason. The rooted for example is engaged in in a somewhat showy way. Which is very different from the easy naturalness that the same was treated once upon a time.
This has been a rather long detour. But it is one evoked by your remarkable writing today. Thanks very much for a marvelous post yet again.
By the way good to hear about Paa.. can’t wait to watch this..
as always so eloquent …
Sir,
I would like to draw your attention towards the fact that the comeback cricket player you mentioned in DAY 585 post is ‘S. Sreeshant’ and not ‘ Srikant’ as mentioned by you.

From Anand to Bemisaal — variations on a Mukherjee theme
Roughly midpoint through Anand Bachchan’s character, Dr Bhaskar, expresses surprise that the terminally ill Anand does not have any family to lay claim to. He is told by his friend, Prakash, that Anand is a child left orphan by Partition in Delhi. This is a remarkable moment in the film though as with so much else in Mukherjee’s work it is presented in the most unobtrusive fashion. Anand, as the expiring offspring of a tragic Partition is a suggestive metaphor.
The film also pays homage to presumably the director’s romance with the city of Bombay. There is not very much of the ‘outdoors’ in the film but it begins with one of the best credit sequences in Hindi cinema (with a superb score as well). Mukherjee offers a dedication to the city and his master, Raj Kapoor (it should not be forgotten that another illustrious protege of the legend, Manmohan Desai, started his career with a Partition film in Chalia and the resonances of which stayed with him throughout his career) with a marvelous montage of iconic Bombay sites (eventually the frame is reduced so it is almost as if one is watching all of this in a screening room with the editor.. one moment must be spotlit.. the one with the double deckers swishing across the screen, wipes of a kind, a memory that maybe stayed with Rohan Sippy when he did something similar in Bluffmaster). This city is most often privileged in the director’s work.
But something kept fascinating Mukherjee with the theme of the terminally ill lead protagonist. He of course re-interrogated this space in Mili, another film with the lead character giving the film its title, another film which begins ‘at the end’ and ‘rewinds’ the time of the film. Because Anand has a definite ending we learn at the very beginning that the lead character in in fact dead. Mili however remains open ended and is to this author the greater film even if Anand has the greater iconic claim.
Each film offers the literal physical decay of the patient as a response to a larger socio-political set. If Anand is the child of Partition he is also a victim of the post-Independence experiment where the cynicism of commerce has quickly replaced the idealism of the Independence era (this connects Mukherjee to Raj Kapoor’s oeuvre, one especially thinks of Shree 420). The ‘dialog’ between Dr Bhaskar and his colleague cum friend, Prakash, is central to the film and erupts at more than a few points. If Rajesh Khanna’s character is the film’s philosopher advising us on how to live life the conflict itself is staged between the two friends who are in different ways not completely reconciled with their profession. Bhaskar is especially a tortured soul. It is this humanism that Anand, that Raj Kapoor also represented by way of his Chaplinesque self in Shree 420, that has been forsaken in post-Independence India.
Anand is the great foundational film of Mukherjee’s career and he returns to some of its central concerns from time to time. It could be argued that in some ways his vision also grew darker in later works though the director never quite lost his affection for the bourgeois world he otherwise satirized or critiqued in both his ’serious’ films and his comedies. Mili is a darker film than Anand because it operates in a universe of greater social specificity and hence the sickness of its eponymous protagonist winds a more immediate correlative. One thinks of the obvious scandal at the heart of the film that crystallizes the larger social malaise of that social system. The even later Jurmana also operates with such a ‘given’. By the time we get to the really late Bemisaal, in many respects the most ambiguous and certainly most unsettling of the director’s works, the circle that began with Anand is in a sense complete. Here too the clinical and disease are twinned with the failure of a socio-political project. Interestingly here it is a disastrous abortion that leads to the film’s climactic crisis. One cannot stop here. There is the all important ‘double’ of the film, rather muddled as a narrative element but one that is thematically quite important. But one must backtrack a bit here and reflect on the space Amitabh Bachchan occupies in Mukherjee’s oeuvre.
Bachchan is always the ‘out of joint’ personality in Mukherjee, always the character who unhinges the film a little bit. We see this in Anand where his character is always angst-ridden and where Anand’s otherwise simplistic worldview finds a much more sophisticated expression in his character. In fact Bhaskar is led to his own ‘project’ because of his acquaintance with Anand. One knows that he will lead a fuller life for having known Anand even if the latter himself (though a great star outing for Rajesh Khanna and also one of his most endearing ones) often seems no more than an index of the gestural without ever convincing completely as a diagnostician. Anand’s project at any rate depends on Bhaskar. As an aside I should add that the re-coding of Anand in recent times as a Bachchan film seems either completely ridiculous or at least a sad reflection on how passe Rajesh Khanna is at the present time but in the light of the reading I’ve just offered it at least becomes more comprehensible.
Moving a bit quickly now in Namak Haram once again Rajesh Khanna has the title role and seems to bring about the crisis but the greater ‘political’ gesture is handed over to Bachchan. Rajesh Khanna’s ‘betrayal’ is in a way pre-ordained in as much as he remains truer to his social class by going down this path. It is Bachchan however who atones for it and who offers his ‘corporatist’ father the ultimate price. He represents the apotheosis of his friend’s dream and subsequent ’sacrifice’. This move was of course repeated years later in Bemisaal, a film which even as it completes the circle begun with Anand also reunites all the threads that first emerge in the latter and find varied expression throughout the 70s work of Mukherjee. Here too Bachchan pays the price for a very different betrayal that his friend-brother engages in. It is only in Bemisaal where the ‘doctor’ who treats and the one who kills are symmetrically offered in the same narrative. The medical practitioner ‘arrives’ at Bemisaal’s site as the possessor of a ‘pharmakon’ in the Plato-Derrida sense of the term which is to say as the bearer of a drug which is equally medicine and poison. The same social model engenders and it paralyzes, it opens up possibilities but it also murders in each instant. This is always Mukherjee’s lesson (which is why for example Anand’s death is almost necessary much as Dharmendra’s is in Satyakam… the social compact demands this sort of blood sacrifice from those who would seek to reorder it by taking its ‘morals’ a bit too seriously.. if there is a bourgeois principle to Mukherjee’s films it is this — mores must always trump morals.. a truth that leads both to comedy as well as tragedy and Mukherjee was a master in both modes). Sometimes madness might also be a result. Again let me get to this a bit later.
Abhimaan offers an ‘unhinging’ of Bachchan and later on he is once again the only one in the tale who can set things right. Jurmana’s crisis is yet again ‘manufactured’ by Bachchan who is the surest cynic starting out and in essence a great casualty of his social framework. At least before her reforms. Alaap finally has the complete abdication of social ‘responsibility’ for the higher pleasures of art. And finally Bemisaal, the film where Bachchan must be split into two. One the one hand Sudhir, possibly Mukherjee’s most enigmatic character, one who with everything else that might be said about him also operates at the boundaries of bourgeois sexuality. The director is extraordinarily bold here for Bachchan’s relationship with Raakhee always functions in a twilight zone where lover and sibling frequently change roles. There is a definite ‘coupling’ here. Bachchan starts out being attracted to the woman, perhaps. Then he sacrifices her for his best friend/brother, perhaps. Finally he begins a very strange, even unsettling tango with his sister(-in-law)-lover. There are moments in the movie where Bachchan seems to be ‘acting’ and yet something real always transpires between the two in these instances and Raakhee’s character is not unaware of the strange charge of this relationship.
But Mukherjee also puts forth in his darkest move the mad brother (a victim of feminine sexuality perhaps in keeping with what has just been discussed.. towards the end of the film there is a point at which the principal character also appears a bit unhinged as he stages a kind of sexual overture with his sister-lover) who functions as the double of the ‘rational’ one. The ultimate price is paid by these brothers. One repeats the earlier Namak Haram sacrifice. The other ends up in an asylum. A rational medical professional and his literally unhinged patient brother/other. The role the woman plays in each instance is not unproblematic.
What begins with physical disease ends with madness. This entire journey is also peppered with Mukherjee’s great comedies where again the bourgeois order is always lampooned affectionately. Khubsoorat in the wake of Indira Gandhi’s Emergency and subsequent return to power might contain the most overt political statement. Amol Palekar meanwhile in many of the films retains an element of subversion that reminds me in other contexts of Mohanlal’s ‘double’ (Srinivasan… this actor even exhibits a troll-like menace at points which is beyond Palekar..) in many of the comedies he did.
To reiterate Anand remains Mukherjee’s authentic beginning. One only has to consider an earlier successful film like Anupama to reflect on the gulf between the two. Mukherjee really invented himself with Anand but also found an appropriate site to take some of Raj Kapoor’s themes in a new direction. He was ever the social commentator in inimitable style though one can render him bland by only insisting on this and ignoring his more profound designs. My aim here was to rather chaotically rush through some of this history. Not a formal exercise by any means but hopefully one that opens up some areas for reflection. If I have attempted something like a thesis here it points in the direction of magnifying the equation Mukherjee sets up between physical ailment and social malaise (itself a rather novelistic idea) and for which his rightly classic Anand offers a canonical beginning.

Day 585, Comment # 85 by Aishwarya , TVM:
Aishwarya, I agree with you more than 100 %.You said it quiet appropriate that life is too short and by simply saying ’sorry’ one can avoid the tense situations and re-bind relations which have been in turmoil.
I guess thousands of us go through the same situation either with friends, family , relatives and find not easy to satisfy every one’s ego. It takes a lot to say ’sorry’ and it takes so little to say ’sorry’. Choice is ours and only ours, in fact, mine ( not ours).
Even realising this simple fact, it is not easy to make decisions. Decisions are to be made today not tomorrow as tomorrow will be little too late. Personally, I leave few decisions in my almighty Lord’s hands with complete faith, dedication and trust on him/her with a hope that he will help in reviving jeopardized relations which are critical to our existence.
With best regards…from the bottom of my heart.

Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan pays tribute to Late Harivansh Rai Bachchan on his 102nd birth anniversary in Mumbai Saturday, 28 November 2009. Bachchan Family and Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan came together to launch ‘Madhushala - The House of Wine’.
Dear Amitji,
Hooked on to this blog for over a year, paying a visit before tucking in has become a way of life, and many a times also the butt of light hearted leg pulling by the ‘wife’ n ‘kids’ who remark ‘amitji ko neendh nahin aayegi’ if I miss my daily encounter… little they know of my frequent visits to bigb.bigadda during the day, from my workplace
But things took a serious turn today as I was trying to wrestle for the PC… pat came a remark: “please let papa be with his extended family… his ‘IMMEDIATE’ family can wait!!!
Not to be outdone, the little one added: ‘papa knows more about “PAA” than he knows about his own daughter’s blog!’
Sheepishly, I checked it out all that i supposedly have missed…
Will not comment on what I discovered. That’s something I wish to share with you, with a request to spare a few moments of your precious time (specialy the post ‘flashback part 1’) on this link:

love and well being
It’s great to hear of all the spontaneous emotion spilling out at last night’s event. Your father and all your family and experiences are a major part of you and nothing can ever change that.
I’m glad you had the chance to revisit all of those wonderful memories from those early and formative years of your life. It seems the ‘busy’ part of your life is a family tradition.
I’m sure ‘PAA’ will be a success but I can understand all the nervousness you must be experiencing right now. And I’m sure everything will go right.
I can relate to that feeling of not wanting to do anything though. Even though I have so much free time and so much I can do at home, I find myself just standing still wondering whether I’ll ever find a job. But I did take advantage of no trains passing by my apartment this morning and watched ‘Sarphira’ with such a young Sanjay Dutt and Anupam Kher. And I didn’t have to keep adjusting the volume for subway noise.
The best part of my day is that my root canal was cancelled and I’m on an F train to the city on this bright sunny day in NYC.
I’m sure you will feel much better after a good night’s rest and your mood will improve also. Please don’t be so pessimistic.
Sleep well and have positive dreams. Auro will not disappoint!
Love,
Rochelle

Dear Amitji,
From the description of the bachchan Sandhya, it proved that Shri Harivanshji’s poem has given us a great nurishment. It will remain with us forever. He lived his life thur his poetry, and gave us a valuable treasure. As you said, they are your great possession- and so is ours.
You did not elaborate ,how audience eacted to Paa’s show? I am sure, it was very emotional and also possible “speechless” performance from the casts of the movie, mainly you. We are very eager to the release of the movie.
Please do rest, and come back with fresh meaning.

Dearest Amit ji,
NAMASKAR!!!
Hearty congratulations for such a wonderful evening. i had a chance to briefly watch the event on television. Such a wonderful expression of emotions, feelings and joy. It was a touching event and ageless poetry……probably touching all our lives.
I am speechless by your compassion towards your parents and the way they are embedded within you and how you have described your love for them “I may lose all that I possess - my name, my stunted fame and my material gains, but my ‘acquisition’ shall never be lost”.
5 days more and eagerly awaiting to meet ‘PAA’ ……………
Love you
Bharati (millie)

# 90 - Amitabh Ziibbu,
Thank you for the link. It was great to hear some of the renditions of the night. It’s a shame I can’t read hindi since any english translation does not do the original justice.
Thank you .. hope you are well ..
Manish Parmar, UK.
Dear Amit,
Good luck to your ‘Paa’ I’m looking forward to it.
I would like to add: I didn’t like the way you interviewed Rohit Verma of Big Boss, it was totally unbecoming of Amitabh Bacchan as a person. He was playing a bitching game in the house everyone one knows that, but you did the same by exposing him in the ‘Real World’ this was not expected of you. Maybe you were just being a ‘puppet’ in the hands of Big Boss.
Hope you will think about it.
Regards,
Anu

India’s Eternal Crisis
By PANKAJ MISHRA
Mashobra, India
ON the evening of Sept. 11, 2001, I hurried through a dark apple orchard to the nearest television in this Himalayan village. My landlord opened his door reluctantly, and then appeared unmoved by the news I had just received by phone. I struggled to explain the enormity of what was happening, the significance of New York, the iconic status of the World Trade Center — to no avail. It was time for his evening prayers; the television could not be turned on.
I did not witness the horrific sights of 9/11 until three days later. Since then, cable television and even broadband Internet have arrived in Mashobra and in my own home. Now the world’s manifold atrocities are always available for brisk inspection on India’s many 24-hour news channels. Indeed, the brutal terrorist assault on Mumbai that killed 163 people a year ago was immediately proclaimed as India’s own 9/11 by the country’s young TV anchors, who seem to model themselves on Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly. Yet, on the first anniversary of “26/11,” it seems as remote as 9/11 to the inhabitants of this village.
There is no great mystery behind this indifference, which is distinct from callousness. India, where most people still depend on agriculture for a living, has just suffered one of its most serious droughts in decades. The outlook for winter crops is bleak; many farmers have committed suicide in recent months, adding to the epidemic of rural suicides over the last few years.
Politically, too, India has lurched from one crisis to another in the last year. Prudent financial regulation saved India from the worst effects of the worldwide economic recession. But the rage of people who feel themselves not only left behind but victimized by corporate-driven and urban-oriented economic growth has erupted into violence; the Indian government has called for an all-out war against the Maoist insurgent groups that now administer large parts of central India. Anti-India insurgencies in Kashmir and the northeast continue to simmer, exacting a little-reported but high daily toll.
Geopolitically, India’s room to maneuver has shrunk since the Mumbai attacks. Last November, middle-class nationalist fury, though initially directed at inept Indian authorities, settled on Pakistan, where the attacks were partly planned and financed. The writer Shashi Tharoor described “India’s leaders and strategic thinkers” as watching Israel’s assault on Gaza last winter with “empathy,” and wondering “why can’t we do the same?” One hopes Mr. Tharoor, who has since become India’s junior foreign minister, is today more aware of why India can’t do a Gaza or Lebanon on its nuclear-armed neighbor.
As Western anxiety about nuclear-armed Pakistan’s stability deepens, India can barely afford aggressive rhetoric, let alone military retaliation, against its longtime foe. Pakistan remains vital to Western campaigns against Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Aware of its strategic importance, Pakistan has been in no hurry to accede to India’s demands to prosecute those it holds responsible for the Mumbai massacre. (One hopes the charges filed against seven radicals on Wednesday mark a real change.) Islamabad has also upped the rhetorical ante by accusing India of backing the violent secessionist movement in Baluchistan, in western Pakistan.
India’s seeming impotence enrages those in the new right-wing news media who are eager to commemorate 26/11, and to make that ersatz shorthand signify India’s unavenged humiliation and shame. Prabhu Chawla, the editor of India Today, the country’s leading newsmagazine, expressed the frustration of many middle-class nationalists: “India, divided by politics, doesn’t know what to do with its enemy or with its much-mauled nationalist soul. We are as clueless as we were on that dreadful November night one year ago.”
That may be true, but in a country where 400 million live without electricity, it isn’t easy to manufacture, or sustain, a national consensus. In any case, things are not as bad as the pundits make out. The lone surviving Mumbai killer is already on trial; his accomplices are being gradually apprehended. There have been no major retaliatory attacks against Muslims. There are stirrings of a civic, even political, consciousness among rich Indians who, until the Mumbai massacre, were largely unaffected by our frequent terrorist bombings.
India may have been passive after the Mumbai attacks. But India has not launched wars against either abstract nouns or actual countries that it has no hope of winning or even disengaging from. Another major terrorist assault on our large and chaotic cities is very probable, but it is unlikely to have the sort of effect that 9/11 had on America.
This is largely because many Indians still live with a sense of permanent crisis, of a world out of joint, where violence can be contained but never fully prevented, and where human action quickly reveals its tragic limits. The fatalism I sense in my village may be the consolation of the weak, of those powerless to shape the world to their ends. But it also provides a built-in check against the arrogance of power — and the hubris that has made America’s response to 9/11 so disastrously counterproductive.

***SATYAM @ #16*** God bless you, Satyam, for sharing these lovely links with all of us…So unbelievably grateful to be able to see even these small bits of last evening’s affair…wonderful…Thank you, Satyam.
Respected Amitabh ji,
Namaste.
Years back I fought with my father(Late Harindra Dave) to buy ‘Bachchan recites Bachchan’, a gramophone record as well as an audio cassette. Years after that I was fortunate to be part of ‘Bachchan Sandhya’ at Lincoln Center (August 18, 2007) organized by the Bhavan, USA and now another ‘Bachchan Sandhya’ at the Bhavan, Mumbai.
Curious to know that how do you feel about this three occasions?
‘PAA’ is already a hit sir. Looking forward to your next avatar.
You really are following Babuji’s words,
With regards,
Deepak H. Dave
amitabhji
I am touched but at the same time elated to learn that you used to accompany your father for his stage performances to various venues and bring home Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 which helped the family to run its kitchen!!
Though this was a paltry sum of money for a Dr of Literature it must have given immense satisfaction to Harivanshraiji as it was earned through his own skill and sincere effort.
Hello Amit ji

Amazing emotions and clarity in expressions. The
ability to detach from the result of the hard work
is a tough exercise which requires a great will
and disceplene and your disposition here
is noteworthy . The current proposition of
your new product has raised the bar of expectations
and it’s a interesting wait in bated breath to
to assimilate the new offering .
My Dear Mr Bachchan
Such a very well described post…congratulations to you and your family on the success of “Bachchan Sandhya”! I am glad the evening went well.
It’s always touching to read whenever you share those precious memories of your beloved parents.
I can understand your emotions. You are only human, give yourself some time, let everything soak in and then flow again.
well,’PAA’ is here in a few days….Good Luck!
And yes,Have a good night’s rest….and a Great Day tomorrow!
May God always Bless and protect you, your wonderful family and all dear FmXt
My sincere Love always…

My dearest Mr. Bachchan,
Your father’s influence permeates your writing today, the intensity of emotion, the philosophy behind your own words are nothing less than poetic and so, so beautiful. Amazingy, your writing becomes potent when your mind is fatigued or subdued, you write unreservedly from the heart. Tears actually pricked the backs of my eyes as I read through the nostalgic illustrations of your childhood. In fact your own characteristic likeness to your father has never been more apparent: the groundedness, humility, that burning zeal for his art which impelled him to endure the long working hours, the very fact his poetry was a labour of love that he wanted others to benefit from. Whether it is poetry or acting you are both the most devoted and accomplished in your field … You do bear your ‘acquisitions’ with pride and may you never lose anything … most of all that!
I had no doubt last night would prove to be an enriching event for the fortunate guests, but its more pleasing to know that your soul has also been revitalized from the experience. I hope you will be able to carry the strength you have taken from your parents firm presence in your life forward into you forthcoming venture - because it is timely!
The day of ‘reckoning’ is fast approaching and I do understand your apprehension. As much as I want to tell you to believe ‘Paa’ WILL be the greatest box office hit this year, and has already created a storm within the industry; I think for your sake maintaining a balanced perspective has to be the healthiest approach at this stage. Prudence suggests it would be best to maintain your love, dedication and confidence in the project knowing you have worked to your best ability, whilst not focussing too strongly on factors you will have no control over; because you will burn yourself out with anxiety if you do! And please lets put Hitchcock to rest for good now and dispense with the thought of ever hearing those ‘ominous bells, for whomsoever they may toll‘!! Sweet Mr Bachchan, you have had such a franticly busy month without any reprieve. Extreme exhaustion can induce despondency in the worst manner and the negativity in your latter paragraph suggests you are indeed exhausted! I am also certain that nothing will appear as bad once you have rested - not being flippant about this at all - but no problem is ever too complex for a trip through dreamland to relieve!
Try to take these next five days prior to the release as they come, and hard as it may be, please never lose your hope. Whatever the outcome of any venture you are loved and have your greatest ‘acquisitions’ with you - so how bad can it be?!
Goodnight sleep soundly, I hope the morning brings a freshness of mind and body and fortified confidence.
My love and care abundantly,
Jasmine

Wow! Judging by people’s response to the ceremony, it seemed to have an impact. I should find out more about your father’s work.
I really liked Panjak Mishra’s article and will read more about the author and from the author.
You would think I’m writing my new years resolutions! I saw posters of PAA in a theater and I’m quite interested in watching the movie now. I still have to say this reminds me of Benjamin Button, but the producers obviously expect good business through this theme and that makes good business sense, I guess.
Recently I’ve seen some Pakistani movies and their ‘inspiration’ seemed to come from within, e.g Khuda Kay Liya and Ramchand Pakistani. Ofcourse there are many which fail to keep your attention long enough to finnish the movie. No offense to Indian cinema or Pakistani cinema.
The bottom line is that PAA will do great business, because skeptical people will also watch it to see how different it is from the movie that inspired it’s making. Die hard fans will watch it for their favorite actors/actresses and people who havent been exposed to this theme before will absolutely love it. By the way I like Aladdin, despite it’s not so great success I give it high points. I think Genius really pushed the movie forward, eventhough there were too many characters in the movie. I liked the songs as well. You had a lot of energy on the screen which is amazing at your age.
Planning any tours abroad?

I am sitting across from MOMA on this warm night, between Tim Burton films. I have just seen ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, which is ironic because until this morning I thought I would be in the dentist’s chair having a root canal instead. And the film does have a dentist, dentist scenes, and of course plenty of candy. Although I liked it, it cannot compare to the original. Whenever I see Danny Elfman’s name on the screen for the music and vocals, it brings me back to the 1980’s when he was the lead singer of one of my favorite new wave bands, Oingo Boingo, and I even got to see them at the old Ritz club.
The next film is ‘Corpse Bride’. These films are free for me since I’m still a member through March and I want to take as much advantage as possible until then. Even though the Imaginasian Theater website has no times for December 4 screenings, I will stop there after the next film and see if they have any information about ‘PAA’ tickets. Maybe they are even on sale already!

morning Genius,
Beautiful post in memory of your father, also acknowledging the extra effort by your father.
Meanwhile, you stay cool…… You have a larger than life status, so don’t worry. What did u have when u came and what is it you will take when u depart.
Remember this verse : haani, laabh, jeewan maran, yash apyash vidhi haath….so do your best and forget the rest.
Affection and respect.
Another wonderful experience of the evening. Hope it has been recorded for us to see, your rest of the family. Have a good rest and the rest will be taken care of. Pray to almighty that all your wishes are fulfilled. Pranams. I have to wake up very early and drop my son to Gatwick airport, he has had to cut his cake today as he is leaving tomorrow.
His bag is always full of home cooked meals, which will probably last him for ten days!!!!
Anyway better go to sleep and also need to take Mummyji to hospital in the afternoon. Pranams to all the EF too.
Thank you Trusharji will watch it later. Praanams.
Dear Amitji,

Hello from Romania, much love Roxana!
well.. I must say that was quite interesting to watch the event on the two YouTube links provided in the above post..thank you…and how we do come full circle it seems when words and music transcend everything else and leave a unique imprint whether one participates or views from the sidelines…
Just carry on with your work. You are a phenomenon. We love to see your performances. Maybe you could try for roles that leave a message that has meaningful impact on the minds of the viewing public, for the good of the society and the world at large.
loveyou ………
Respected Sir ,
What a great night . Just saw in SAMAY channel . I m looking for cd or dvd MADHUSALA rendition by you . Can any one of Fmext gave m idea where to buy.
Dear Lion King,
All of you were radiant in hues of white and gold, like a hundred suns on scattered white clouds. There are times when something remarkably beautiful can take one’s breath away. Yesterday was one such moment. Congratulations on the success, indeed a cherished moment for the entire Bachchan family.
Who else other than you can take art to people like the way you do. You have delivered and continue to deliver it to us through your movies, your appearances on the small screen and your live renditions on stage. Honestly, you are a masterpiece by yourself, a living art form creating art movements with every era.
Upto 1973 you created the period of expressionism through your work in Anand, Reshma aur Shera. Between 1973 to 1983 you were instrumental for the period of renaissance, a golden period that birthed the angry young man in Zanjeer, Deewar, Don and the iconic Sholay to name a few. This era was inter blended in with an era of romanticism visible in “kabhi kabhi”, “Silsila” . Post 83 and for a few years thereafter your accident during Coolie and your short stint in politics was a period of dark ages (you have confided that politics was not your cup of tea ). In the new millennium we have the marvelous period of revival with your television career, my favorite era, an indication of your resilience through KBC. We witness you in the modern era and continue to witness you in the post modern era with or without the marvel of prosthetics.
So, we have one man who has created art movements by himself. Watching you is watching art, no matter what you do. The Bachchan Art movement continues to mesmerize us all.
I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed that Arundathi Nag is in Paa as well. A fine theatre actor and a valuable contributor to the art scene in India. I was very happy at the time when she realized a dream of her husband (the late Shankar Nag )by building the “Ranga Shankara”, a state of the art theatre in Bangalore. Shankar Nag’s contribution to cinema and small screen can never be forgotten. My personal all time favorite being RK Narayan’s Malgudi Days that he brought to us on Doordarshan in 1987. How wonderfully he directed Swamy played by Manjunath and Swamy’s father played by Anant Nag. It remains one of the finer performances on the small screen. And the title music of L. Vaidyanathan ( Tananaa tana na naa) takes me down memory lane, back to the sleepy little town of Malgudi on the banks of Saraayu. Interestingly, the fictitious town of Malgudi was created by the Master RK Narayan by combining the two suburban names of Bangalore, Malleswaram and Basvangudi, where he had spent most of his time writing. Remembering Malgudi Days, Swamy, his friends Rajam and Mani, the title music, makes me wish I had never grown up.
Looking forward to seeing Arundathi Nag as well now in Paa, finest of the finest.
I hope you continue to get some good rest in the next five days, as the days may just be longer after the 4th.

Goodmorning Amitji,
I know how the audience might have felt at Bachchan Sandhya - its the way I feel each time I read ur post - I cry, I laugh, I associate ur words with pages from my life, I find myself in them, and I let the emotions wash over me. Its amazing. And as u say for once I want to leave the introspection and the whys of feeling in such a way - today I would like to just be.
Four more days to Paa. Enjoy the adrenaline rush, Amitji, its just the body reacting to the mind - its natural. Something like what I used to feel when I was the next candidate to go in for the viva - just thinking of the panel of externals gives me butterflies in my stomach even now!!
Paa will be one of the biggest successes in Indian Cinema. And I am eagerly awaiting the post on December 4 as u share ur joy saying - “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!”
Love and hugs,
Aishwarya.
Dearest and beloved Mr. Bachchan,
That’s a truly lovely post, and it is interesting to read all these memories you have of your father and which were evoked by this wonderful and ‘nostalgic’ function of his commemoration. I wish you would always keep these ‘acquisitions’ you have of your father within you, and never to loose them or any other thing.
I have just watched a video of the event, and though it didn’t show the whole rendition by you and your family, but it was nice to capture a glimpse of how it looked like and of the prevailing atmosphere of music and poetry. It was also interesting to read of the reactions of the audience who got mesmerized and overwhelmed by your father’s works and by your recitations of his poems. Many congratulations on the success of the ‘Bachchan Sandhaya’, and on the launch of Madhushala as well.
There is no doubt that your anxiety increases as the day of the release of PAA gets nearer. But don’t worry Mr. B, the movie has generated a lot of interest and curiosity amongst all, and we all can’t wait for this exceptional movie. we wish you all best of luck, and we pray for it to be huge success.
the rush of overwhelming emotions usually gets us in a state of emotional and mental exhaustion and tiredness. It always happens, and one then finds himself in need for sometime to just calm down and compose himself again. This ‘sense of no wanting’ and nothingness might be a result of these engulfing emotions. So just be, and rest well..
and have a goodnight..
with my love to you…and even more,

Mr. B,
” For Whom The Bells Toll” yes I remember that movie , Richard Burton I think it was, but cant recall anything.Beautiful expression that one.If I too add on to what u have mentioned about parents and love it may sound verbose , suffice to say parents shall remain with us forever and here may I also say good children too ,just the same way.For me those constitute the true wealth we possess.
it was sad to see Del Potro lose in the ATP finals to Davydenko just didn’t play to his potentia,l the latter is once again being touted as a future player to reckon with, dilly dallying fortunes if I may add!The guy just got lost on the radar and has returned with a vengeance.
So then here i take ur leave Mr. B, a big warm cuddle and love to you , take care.
excellent post Sharmila…I agree with you…also we should not forget that he gave some great performances between 85 -92 like Main Azaad hun (highly underrated movie of bigb), Indrajeet, Hum, Khuda Gawah etc…..By the way does anyone know which theatre in Pittsburgh the movie PAA will be shown?…I am eagerly waiting for the movie…

In Sigmund Freud’s most audacious masterpiece, “The Interpretation of Dreams”, there is one section where he discusses his own case in the analysis of the domination of wish-fulfilment after quoting those of a poet.
‘In this series of dreams of a poet… it is hard to recognize the domination of wish-fulfilment.
‘All the delightful things occurred in his waking life, while the dreams seemed to drag along with it the ghost-like shadow of an unhappy existence which had long been forgotten.
‘Dreams of my own of a similar character enable me to give some explanation of such dreams. As a young doctor, I worked for a long time in the Chemical Institute without being able to achieve anything in that exacting science, so that in the waking state I never think about this unfruitful and actually somewhat humiliating period of my student days.
‘On the other hand, I have a recurring dream to the effect that I am working in the laboratory, making analysis, and experiments, and so forth;…
‘Since then I have become an ‘analyst’. I make analysis which are greatly praised - psychoanalysis, ofcourse. Now I understand when I feel proud of these analysis in my waking life… my dreams hold upto to me… these other, unsuccessful analysis, of which I have no reason to be proud.’
—Freud, Sigmund in The Interpretation of Dreams.

Before we talk more of that wonderful evening where we met and still not met.. I share a link of the voice of Dr. Bachchan where he provides initiation to the beautiful rendering of Madhushala by Manna Dey sahab..
http://abhayaharivansh.blogspot.com/2009/11/madhushala-in-harivansh-rai-bachchans.html
Also there were some errors which left unedited in my Hindi version of the Bachchan Sanfhya part 1 submitted late last night.. aapse gujaarish hai ki unko andekha kar de aur mujhe kshama kar den.. kahin anya bhool chook hui ho to uske liye bhi aapse anurodh hai apana chhota bhaai samajh kar meri galtiyon ko nazar andaz kar den..
Vaastav mein us shaam Dr. Bachchan se ek tarah se mulaakat hi to ho gai thee meri.. Kitane sundar pushp aapne unki kratiyon se chunkar ham logon ke liye prastut kiye.. shayad is chhote se jevan mein isase adhik main kya kah sakata hoon..
chhote se jeevan mein kitana
pyar karun pee loon haala..
aane ki hi saath jagat mein
aane ke hi saath jagat mein
kahalaaya jaane vala..
I am happy that what I had added from memory was after not all that wrong.. This is not the best verse for me.. the best I consider is most difficult to pick.. the complete Madhushala falls in that category.. and this is no appeasement of any sort..
Aaap se milakr bhi na mil paane mein jo sukh chuupa hai.. use koi anya kaise jaan sakata hai..
Addendum _ I find somewhere this compilation on my computer I hope you and others may just like it..
This post is not a part of Bachchan Sanfhya that I shall soon present a little later form now.. the second part is supposed to be dedicated to Dr. Bachchan embodied in your body for those few hours when he found his voice in you.. and the way r. Pushpa Bharati ji anchored the whole show.. I shall not disclose every thing here..
Tis just about to be grasped yet
Slips away this cup from hands
Tis wine just about to be clasped by lips
yet Rolls away too far away!
Oh my friends come have a look
What fate has scrabbled on my book!
Tis too close and yet too far away
Ever disappearing that tavern on the way!
This friends was a sort of not so literal yet somewhat lyrical transcription of how this particular verse could be anglicized for rest of the world. Its interpretation may or may not be too close to what I have paraphrased above. Time and again I remind myself of the great inadequacy that persists in a translational effort. What follows now is my understanding of the original verses. Frankly speaking this computerized version is already showing some signs away from the one scribbled on the pad with pen! I do not desist away from such a path as long as I do not complicate the issues and make a mess of the work. The basic idea what Dr. Bachchan probably would have conceived in his mind is discussed here.
There are situations in life that reflect incompleteness and unexpectedness of an event – as if the cup slips away before eager hands could get hold of it! Or rather tumbling of the wine even before it could just embrace our lips!
The poet then insists in spite of these fallacies and failures he invites his friends to have a close look at this desperate beauty of his deserving/ or undeserving fate. That he has missed a very near chance to have glance of the tavern on the way!
This again friends is more or less physical meaning what Dr. Bachchan has referred in these lines though he might actually be trying to philosophize the element of uncertainty and the unexpected from our perceived and preferred path and to be prepared for such eventualities. That many a times we are so very near to our target yet we miss it by a whisker, that we are so close on the verge of success yet somehow it deceives us in the most unexpected manner.
The Poet, I mean, I should say Dr. Bachchan is probably addressing the rest of us the populace on this earth to believe that his own story of dwindling fortunes and discomforting events could not be different for us human beings in any way. His near misses on finding his chosen path (Tavern) and to succed on it is like a mirage too near yet too far away!
Post Script:
With this first interpretation of the thoughts of Dr. Bachchan in Madhushala - though actually the 94th verse of the poets poem I begin this journey to communicate with the rest of you. I wanted to take up something that I had not read in the train and I must add here that following sequence may never be important to me and you may find that before I complete all the verses I might have revisited a couple of them many times over! This particular couplet reminds us of uncertainty that we all must really respect.
I would also wish to make a point to the poet to forgive me if I ever fail and at times completely misunderstood his work or words and interpret them in not only a different manner but also in content and context. The beauty of a poetic work lies in its manifold manifestations and also strongly depends on the mood and mind of its reader at that particular point of time. The message could be seen and read differently as if there are not one or two but several messages hidden within. The same poetic work can have different meanings, be understood in different manners and different individuals could derive different messages at different times. I use this philosophy to defend my incapacity to treat the works of Dr. Bachchan as exactly as science would have loved it to be!
Hopefully, I am able to provide enough of such couplets that could prove the Madhushala to be only as the tavern on the way! Here Madhushala symbolizes with uncertainty in life!
…..

Dear Sir,
Very warm good morning to u.
Please please please do take care of yourself.

Dear AB,
Guess what
Dec 2nd
Family, Friends …
Are you going ?
Balki is very talented …
Dear Lion King,
To my previous comment ( 157 ), I would not be true to my heart if I do not add that I have one reservation about your work on the small screen. On Day 1 at the house, I was goo goo gaa gaa and utterly butterly excited about your participation in Big Boss but now I am utterly bitterly disappointed. My thoughts and feelings about your participation have turned the opposite way, I admit I have done a volte face. The show lacks substance and bears no semblance of respect for values, class and grace that is synonymous with you.
I am on a high watching the trailers of Aladdin, PAA, Rann, Teen Patti, your live renditions for the week and come friday, I need an aspirin to wake me up on Saturday morning.
There is no comparison between KBC and Big Boss not just because they are different, but they really are!
I still maintain my stand that you are the only silver lining in the show, but you are so conspicuous in the oddity of being the only sane, classy, ethical individual that every time you get up from that plush leather chair, I see grime and dirt stuck to the sheen of your pristine suit that the contestants have shun on you. You are literally being used on the show as a filter and I cannot watch you in this role albeit I know you discard the suit when you walk out of the sets!
I do not understand philosophy nor the role of a philosopher.
Give me KBC or any other classy format with the real Don. Hope Mr Uday is listening!
Love u more n more my dearest God.
xoxoxoxo..mmmwaaaah ( been a while :))

In my opinion Raju Srivastav should be the winner of Big Boss as he was the only one whose views on the winner was rational and not biased.

Pravesh took claudia and claudia took pravesh names .
Bhaktiyar took Pravesh and Pravesh took Bhaktiyar.

Raju Srivastav, Poonam Dhillon should be in the final .

FOR THE EF, I FOUND A VERY GOOD QUOTE WHICH MY COUSIN SENT TO ME. I WISH TO SHARE IT EVERYBODY HERE :
IT’S TRUE THAT WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT WE HAVE GOT UNTIL WE LOSE IT,
BUT IT’S ALSO TRUE THAT WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT WE HAVE BEEN MISSING UNTIL IT ARRIVES.
i found it very meaningful. hope everybody else feels the same way.
Hi Mr. Bachchan
The ambience must have been mesmerizing at “Bachchan Sandhya”. I wish if u could post some clips or pics, the EF would be grateful.
I went to see “The Christmas Carol” movie at PVR Juhu yesterday. On my way, I was excited to see the huge cut-outs of PAA(U & Abhishek) on a trailer truck. I couldn’t resist but click a picture of one of the hoardings.
Also bought the CD of PAA, the songs are beautiful & melodious…the packaging is nice esp one liners( i believe from the movie). I have also downloaded the ringtones on my mobile.
Take care
Love & regards

Hi Sir,
Good to hear more about the evening and how everything turned out well. It was also nice to hear that people found themselves when hearing the poetry and did justice to what your father wanted as indicated in his prologue. You are right that everything can be lost, but those moments of interactions with loved ones and the feelings associated with those memorable moments can never be taken away. As for PAA, what you are feeling is indeed natural, but there is nothing to fear as the film will on its own strike a chord with the audience. It has the ability to do so and Auro can make it happen too!
Regards and Love,
S
Dear Amitji,
Your truly are World Famous. In the Arab World, even in Saudi Arabia, the locals know you. Egyptians love you. If possible try to connect with this large fan following through your shows….You have done and doing India Great !
thank you will make an effort ..
I watched the footage of the “Bachchan Sandhya” and those highlights were enough to show what a magical evening it must have been. I especially loved to hear you sing. If I remember correctly, in New York you sang a couple of lines from a hymn I believe.
I stopped by the Imaginasian and there is a ‘PAA’ poster on the wall but tickets are not being sold yet.
Tomorrow I have a mandatory appointment at the unemployment office about what to do with my life. I think I’d rather have root canal. I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up.
I hope you had that good night’s rest.
Love,
Rochelle
Respected Amitji,
Hum sab Paa ka besabri se intezaar kar rahe hai.
Dear Amitji,
Eagerly waiting to see ur movie Paa…with my whole family over here in Bvn.
Thanks & Regards
Deepak
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Thank you for writing about ‘Bachchan Sandhya’. I believe it was a most poignant evening for you and a fulfilling one for the audience too. One legend paying tribute to another, and when they happen to be father and son, it turns out to be a tour-de-force of emotions.
With just a few days left for your second debut, your nervousness and anxiety is quite palpable and understandable too. My good wishes for “Paa’.
Regards,
Melwyn
Respected Amitji,

Dear Sir,
Writing to you for the first time.Always thought you would never read so why reply but I realised I was wrong.I wish you all the very best for “Paa”. I love the promos and I am sure it will touch many hearts.Have been your worshipper since childhood….Your movies would leave such a deep impact on me to the extent that I still cant forgive Vinod Khanna or Dilip Kumar for playing negative against you in Muquaddar ka sikandar and Shakti !! Please do check my website whenever you have the time.
sincerely,
J
My dearest Mr. Bachchan,
I can only try and imagine what the Bachchan Sandhya must have really been like. Your post today is drenched with emotions and sentiments…some filled with awe, and some with the quiet confidence of knowing it to be so! Blessed are you and your dear family, and blessed are we, your EF, to be fortunate enough to have witnessed this grand commemoration of your dear Father’s 102nd Birth Anniversary, thru your words, your sentiments and your expression thereof! Here, I must acknowledge and thank our EFM Satyam # 16, who has posted two links of the videos taken at the Bachchan Sandhya. I am very thankful to him for doing that!
I adored Abhishek’s and Aishwarya’s recitation…there was a refreshing quality about it…it seemed to balance the more profound seriousness of the evening.
Your description of the effect on the audience after the trial of PAA was over, is a precursor of what is to come. As an audience and a viewer, I have already concluded that PAA is going to be a once in a lifetime experience…there won’t be any other equalling this one, or even coming close to it….unless you yourself decide that there will be another performance to better this one…maybe then, in that eventuality, it could be possible to surpass PAA!
The strange sense of not wanting, which you experienced and wrote about towards the end of your Brief today, signifies a deep knowing…..a fulfilment which is so consuming that one is almost scared of seeing it manifest into reality. You are bracing yourself for what is going to be history in the making!! Remain well, remain safe and remain blessed, All Ways!
With much love,
Always,
Kashmira

Hello Sir,
I am a huge fan of yours but this is the first time I have read your blog as I have just taken an internet connection.
I know that you are very busy so won’t take up your time.
Wish you all the best for “Paa”. I am eagerly waiting to see it.
Regards,
Sreemanta.
Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
I came back and read your post again with great pleasure..
The part where you speak of the memories about your parents and the love that your family shared while enduring life full of hard work for your Father, when at nights he read his poetry to the enthusiastic audiences - is so precious and heartfelt ..
It gives a wonderful feeling by awakening in one similar atmosphere of parental affection and care from the memories of one’s own life. Like it was for me today - I remembered my home and my parents who are long gone, who left this world when I was very young - but their love never left me…
Your family and memories of it is truly a priceless ‘acquisition’ that shall never be lost..
And thank you so much for sharing…
*
And I can only imagine how wonderful it was to be present yesterday at the evening of your Father’s poetry for those who heard your Father live and for whom his poetry meant so much in their lives …
Blessed evening indeed ! I am so happy that your efforts for this special event were rewarded by the joy it brought to you and the audience.
And it was so important for the commemoration of your Father..
I watched the part of the evening on Youtube and was delighted to see members of your family reciting the poems.. I liked the decoration on the stage with the portrait and white flowers.. And you all looked inspired and beautiful !
Your voice sounded so nice singing Madhushala !
Hindi is a beautiful language which I thought of learning but never really got to it seriously.. The necessities of life always occupied my time with something else …
*
As by the end of your post you wrote of the strange sense on “not wanting” to do anything, I believe it is really just sheer fatigue from doing recently so much.. And you are right - a good night rest would refresh you by the morning..
I am very hopeful about “Paa” and eagerly waiting for this film to get to the audiences across the world and to read your daily post in the evening after the premiere !
*
Have a beautiful day and please do not worry …
May God bless you and yours.
With love and care.

Mr.B,
Sorry correction….”For Whom The Bell Tolls” was directed by Ernest Hemmingway ,and starred Gary Cooper and the beautiful Ingrid Bergman.I mistook that for something else.
Dear Amitji ,
your emotional and vivid description, made me feel
I actually attended the Bachan Sandhya . Great ,the way you connect
with your parents and also with your children.
Today after reading your post I too feel like just, sitting
back and just being in the moment .Lapping up the goodness all around.
Cheers to mission Paa !!
Love and love
Sumesh
This is in reference to a post of a doctor on previous day.
With all respects to your noble profession I would advise you to kindly wait till the film ”paa’ is released. We can discuss about the merits and demerits of the film only after viewing it.Where is the hurry to draw reactions on path-breaking film ”paa” before its release . Many eminent persons are involved in making of film ”paa” and all are considered best in their field of activity.
If ”paa” succeeds at the box office it will become a boon for medical profession as it will be considered as a great document on disease called Progeria.
Cool down Doc and better concentrate on your professional obligations rather than interfere in the work of legends in field of cinema.
well said …
Amitji,
As you have written in your today’s blog, I am one of the fortunate one to have heard Master Saheb, as we used to call your esteemed father, when he was doing his BT at BHU. He used to teach us and when his practical exam was to be held, I told him that unless he sings the Madhushala in the class we will not let him pass his prcticals. He was nice enough to do it.
Then I met him at Savoy Hotel at Ooty in 1979 and after touching his feet I reminded him of the BT practical incident, I was surprised that he rcognised the incident and said “He was a very naughty boy”and I told him I was the same boy.He was very much moved.
I then asked him why he did not sing the Madhushala recrded by Manna De, he said who would have bought the record if he had sung it, to which I said the first few lines sung by him were more impressive than the rest sung by Manna De.
I congratulate you for the commemoration of his 102nd annuarsary, which I saw on TV last night.
‘He was a very naughty boy” I then told him that Iwas the boy. He was very happy and moved by my respect for him
ha ha .. memories always remain ..

Dear Amitji, Good Morning. Your description of 28th November function of Bachchan Sandhya to commemorate your father’s legendry works certainly brings one in a mood of missing the event. Sometimes no description can match the actual feelings of ecstacy. The words of your father certainly become words which we want to convey but never are able to. In Hindi it would be: Hamare muh ki baat..
Dhanya mata dhanya pitah tumev sakha…The efforts of parents cannot be missed by children especially if any extra income would mean a better kitchen budget for a while. Today you may do anything for your father but cannot repay the debt of this life. Your personal attitude to give your best beyond physical possibilities like late working early starting of the day also come as what you saw your father do for you.
There were many who had heard your father recite and now they too had the prevelege of listening to your family recital would certainly invoke nostalgic feelings. How words are now travelling from one generation to the next to the next…Words are the same meaning is same but the depth keeps increasing because of the additions of generations. Life flows through them and one can see the poet in his creations.
Paa was also in the Bachchan Sandhya because it was your Paa in reality. Your other Paa in creativity would also be appreciated in due course. As you metioned you feel like asking for nothing so also would like a non-judgemental situation to prevail. Richness of life is being in possesion of something which people cannot evaluate. You certainly are privy to words of your father and also your own creativity. Everything else looks redundant in front of such possesions.
Have a wonderful time like the gap between two breaths or inhale and exhale. That is the real time when God decides the next breath. Life too has similarities and you experienced that between Bachchan Sandhya and 3rd December2009.
My regards to your parents for giving us a family member so unique.
Ravi P Malhotra
thank you and love …

Dear Amitji,
Like many other FmXters have opined, you have been bringing to action what your learned father said in the foreword. That of taking us thousands through this exhilarating path of self realisation! That also because you so beautifully write poetry in the garb of prose. My respects to your whole family.
End Line - Men …. Poor things
Thought 1
When we are born, our mothers get the compliments and the flowers.
When we are married, our brides get the presents and the publicity.
When we die, our widows get the life insurance.
What do women want to be liberated from?
——————————————————————————–
Thought 2
The average man’s life consists of :
Twenty years of having his mother ask him where he is going,
Forty years of having his wife ask the same question;
and at the end, the mourners wondering too.
———————————————————————————————-
Thought 3
A Man was walking down a street when he heard a voice from behind, ‘If you take one more step, a brick will fall down on your head and kill you.’
The man stopped and a big brick fell right in front of him. The man was astonished.
He went on, and after a while he was going to cross the road. Once again the voice shouted, ‘Stop! Stand still! If you take one more step a car will run over you, and you will die.’ The man did as he was instructed, just as a car came careening around the corner, barely missing him.
The man asked. ‘Who are you?’
‘I am your guardian angel,’ the voice answered.
‘Oh, yeah?’ the man asked ‘And where the hell were you when I got married?’
———————————————————————————————–
This is the best!!!
Thought 4
Everyone in the wedding ceremony was watching the radiant bride as her father escorted her down the aisle to give away to the groom.
They reached the altar and the waiting groom; the bride kissed her father and placed some thing in his hand.
Everyone in the room was wondering what was given to the father by the bride.
The father could feel the suspense in the air and all eyes were on him to divulge the secret and say something.
So he announced ‘Ladies and Gentlemen today is the luckiest day of my life.’ Then he raised his hands with what his daughter gave him and continued, ‘My daughter finally, finally returned my credit card to me.’
The whole audience including priest started laughing………. but not the poor groom!
Yours as always
Ramanathan
Sudhir - Your analysis was brilliant. Can relate well to your oft repeated statement that you talk to yourself on this garden (your terminology - another nugget )
Sharmila - my ’sunnish’ cable wala has spared me the ordeal of watching the show but the snippets that I did manage to see on Utube make me completely agree with you.
Aishwarya - Naan Ingey
Vijaya - Thanks for your complement
Melwyn, Srinivas, Manoj, Abhaya, Manish, Tehreem, Houda, PB, Jasmine of London, Jasmine Jaywant, Roopam, Mario Rodrigues, Satyam and all EF - Abig hi !
Dear Amitabhji,
It is very nice to see that you love and remember your father and mother so much. It is really a lesson for all sons and daughters. It is indeed a sin to neglect or not to love or respect our parents who are our closest and dearest persons in our life . Wish you all the best and with regards,
Sudeb
this is the least that we can do …
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
With Paa just around the corner, there is a question in my mind- Is child really the father of man ?!?, as quoted by the poetic genius with the name of Wordsworth. It also just struck me as an opportunity in disguise(excuse me if that is ‘opportunistically insensitive’ of me). For exploring this very concept we, the students of TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) would love to invite you to our campus and talk to us. Either on the 19th or 20th of December, as is convenient to you. Please do consider it, the kids here would be most grateful if you did
Our best wishes for the upcoming release.
Regards,
Anvesha

So he decided to send an e-mail to his wife.
However, he accidentally typed a wrong e-mail address,

The widow decided to check her e-mail,
expecting condolence messages from relatives and friends.
After reading the first message, she fainted.
The widow’s son rushed into the room,
found his mother on the floor,

Dear Sir,
Your blog today took me virtually to a KAVI-SAMMELAN of the ’50s & ’60s…
Not that I’ve personally been to one - I wasn’t even born then!
But due to the interest of my own father in Kavi Sammelans & Mushairas, we were introduced to this unparalleled form of art in our childhood. And Doordarshan provided enough bytes to satiate our perennial desires to watch more & more & even more!
Those live Kavi Sammelans had a thing about it that cannot be described in words… And for the great poets who recited their craft in these GOSHTHIs, the biggest reward came from the WAH WAHs of the audience!
Some of these moments were recreated by you & your family at the launch of Madhushala yesterday, and it truly was a very sublime & surreal experience for all of us! And seeing so many BACHCHANS together indeed was a stuff dreams are made of…
May God Bless You & Your Family!
May you all leave in peace, harmony & the best of health…
With love & regards,

Please accept my depest regards to you, having said that i wish you to help me.
My marriage is on the verge of break up as now my wifes parents have consulted a astrolger and he says that i am manglik and that she will die in a year, thanks to all the manglik propaganda you did earlier before your sons marriage… a person like you , who has lots of social responsibility, should have not done that..now because of you..she does not want to stay with me, refuses to be a mother, and as per i can hear from other folks, lots of boys and girls are being discriminated against..
sir i would request that you please send a mail to my wife and her parents condeming such odd behaviour or please suggest to me if i should leave this girl…who believes in such stupid things…her name is J and she works in IBM, Bangalore.
Please do respond.

Hi,
Loved to read about the BachchanSandhya. I know it brought you immense happiness & satisfaction. I saw some of the photographs ,all of you are looking great .
How I wish I was there listening to his poems in your voice ! A great poet he was & contibuted to hindi litreture immensely .Hindi litreture one of my favorite
subject .I like all his poems ,they are so meaningful ,sending out message. Many also telling his hardship .A very very talented poet.
I loved your day 585 post ,it really made me emotional. Relationships are so important for us ,at the end of the day we all need that love & care .I did not have this kind of relationship with my father ,he being extremely strict with us ( me & both my brothers ) .I think their was a gap ….or we did not get what he was trying to tell us ,HE WAS RIGHT all I can say now,but at that point of time may be we could not understand .I may cry now……
My mum & brother are enjoying in Las Vegas ,I too wanted to visit some place here ….but when my brother says jo chahiye vo karo it means do as per my wish ,do not go anywhere ,we have a different dictionary …
Take care
Love you
Manisha
Dear Amitabh,
Its time that i wrote to you, cause you have been in my mind for quite some time, say ..since 60’s !!!!! I used to see you in Sherwood, much earlier to 70’s when i used to go to meet my cousin –Kamalesh Tewary. We were staying in NainiTal then. He was in hostel with you.
when your stepping up in life started, you were with jaya,(I am taking names as we are of same age group),I am 65 years of age.but it doesnot mean that there is no respact..we love you both a lot. Hearing your dad’s poems is there in my childhood,’Madhushala” is my husbands favorate subject to be talked about with Manna Da (they are pals),seing your mom with indiraji, used to be like smile coming back on faces.one tall -one short but both powerful ladies of the country.
Those were the days when we used to rush to the road to get the glimps of Nehruji or any other politician, but now……………
I still have the rose which Nehruji threw at me!!!! there was so much of fun in it.Where have those days gone? Now a days ..a child also is not safe,he can not have an innocent childhood.
Well, you take care.
love you both

Mr. Bachchan,
I had my doubts as far as how you could possibly play a 12-13 year old. However, after listening to your audio diary on bollywoodhungama I’m amazed! Honestly, the way you are speaking…even the way you say certain words (like “Mom”) is like a 12-13 year old child I could have run into. It’s bloody remarkable.
Good afternoon! Mr bachchan! yes you are right! somechilhood memeories r unforgetable ! In parents lap u can forget all sorrows. parents r liek bign trees.
we always need their shadows to grow.
I have suggestion for your blog that u make this more color full andPplease shar your Bachchan sandya picutre @ your blog.
The young Indian genratioin needs u !you can spred awarness to young children . So run a campeign for youth so they can chosse a good way o live.

Thank you very much for an answer!!!Most beautiful and the best wishes to the filmPaa!!!
Health, beautiful and strong love, happiness always!!!
Lots of krasivoyprekrasnoy as ocean of love!!!Thank you
I don’t have words to start a talk with you.You don’t know me nor you have seen me but its opposite here.I feel that I know you personally. That’s because you are so famous.
When I was small,I would see you on the television and tell my mom that I want to go Amitabh Bachchan’s house to meet him. My mom would explain me telling that he doesn’t know you.But I would answer her back that “When we will reach his house I’ll tell him that I am Vishwa and he will know me.”After this,my mom laughed but I didn’t understand at that time the reason of her laughter.
I live in a joint family. All the members of this family are big fans of your.
The biggest fan is my mom. When she was in N.M. college completing her B.Com,she used to bunk lectures and visit your shooting.Once she came to visit Bhaidas Auditorium and viewed the shooting of your song ‘O saathi re…..’.
She was just busy watching you and so she didn’t even take your AUTOGRAPH for which even today she is feeling sorry.
Now I only WISH YOU GOOD LUCK FOR “PAA”.I wil watch the movie and reply you soon about it.Now when I meet you the next time,I’ll tell you that I am Vishwa. You will identify me no?

We are very fortunate to have you so close to our heart. Your emotions for your
parents is a reflection of the pure soul.
We are under the process of learning and coping to be mature enough for caring
of our parents as you have cared for them.
Frankly you are the one who has shown many of us the correct path to lead a harmonious life in a family.
We admire your every post and wish you to keep in good health also.
Your father has taught my father “English ” at Allahabad university long back. Now my father is also very old. This was revealed by my father himself one fine evening when we were discussing the olden golden era of our country.

Hi Mr Bachchan

Dear Sir,
Wishing you a very good afternoon there in India..bright warm and sunny!
There are those jewels that are used to decorate the body and to add glitz and glamour …and there are those jewels that promote one’s well being. There are those jewels that are safely locked away from prying eyes and there are those jewels that are freely distributed to all to be used in day-to-day lives, jewels that explain the fine art of living. Both sets of jewels are passed on from generation to generation but the jewels that hold real value, particularly for this organic human machinery is the one that links one to oneself. So I believe. Your Babuji’s words written for one and all are real pearls of wisdom. May we “wear” these everyday in our daily lives…enough precious stones in Madhushala to last us several life times! What a terrific idea for the Bachchan family to get together and decorate Babuji with a Garland made from these very precious stones! Many congratulations for this very successful event called Bachchan Sandhya. May your Parents shower their blessings on all in the Bachchan family.
I was touched by your description of how you used to accompany your Babuji in the evenings during his recitations and then going home to your waiting Mother. I am sure your acquisitions will always remain with you, you will feel them if not see them. Shayad woh hathoon mein apko jannat dikhai deti hai, may they continue to bring you peace and happiness.
Reading this Post has been a very moving experience. You have put your heart and soul into it. Thank you Sir. I agree that reading your Father’s works has been a learning experience for me. When I read his sweet little verses, even if they are difficult to understand at times, the answer will come eventually…sometimes when the whole world is asleep like at three in the morning! Such are the powers of Madhushala. What a gift for all to share!
Thank you Satyamji for providing the link, you are a gem!
Sir you and your entire family looked simple and yet so so elegant in your outfits. I loved the words beginning “40 years ago”…As a member of the audience, I think I can relate my life to those rich verses penned down by your Babu ji. God bless.
I agree with you a stunned silence can become very omnious at times…but nop, we are not going to be silent….get ready Sir to face this huge wave of success coming your way…with full force….nearly on the door tep…three two one and…..PAA!!!!!
Love,
Daksha

Respected Amitji,
Here’s wishing you and Abhishek the very best towards the release of ‘Paa’. I am sure this will spur our film makers to explore something besides mainstream/masala cinema. A month ago, i saw ‘The curious case of Benjamin Button’ and was blown away by the characterization and performance by Brad Pitt.
I am sure you will top that performance.

Dear Amit sir,
I saw your Movie Paa yesterday…. i just want to say YOU were GREAT, and the movie will be remembered forever for your acting genius, which was ably supported by Abhishek Bachhan and Vidya Balan… As for Vidya Balan only think i can think of is ” she is the new mother India ” the movie might have been Maa.. or Paa….but your chemistry with both the actors was amazing..dont think i can ever watch another movie which can surpass my feelings that i felt while watching your movie…..i wish you didnt have to die in the movie..and as a childrens story..a miracle shoudl have happened and cured you….as Auro..you were lucky to get a Maa like vidya and Paa like Abhishek….I wish everyone who loves there parents see this movie…..Cheers sir..a salutation to you and Vidya Balan and Abhishek Bachhan
