Prateeksha, Mumbai November 4, 2009 Wed 3 : 49 PM
It is getting on to 5 PM, but I could not resist revealing the look of PAA on the blog for the extended family. This then is AURO ! The kid that suffers from progeria, a debilitating disease where the child ages rapidly beyond his age. The face that you see is the result of deep research. Kids affected by this problem lose all their hair, become bald and their veins begin to show prominently on their heads, which enlarge to a size beyond normal. Their teeth and eyes suffer also and hence the special teeth as dentals that were worn by me.
This then is the outcome of those hours and hours of make up that we talked of so often during the shooting of the film. The prosthetic process is an arduous process. Around 8 pieces specially designed through laborious clay models of which I wrote too are most meticulously stuck on to the face. Once the make up starts, it is impossible to move even a few centimeters. Eating and drinking has to be avoided and you cannot talk because it displaces the pieces over the contours of the face. Separate pieces form the entire look. The head and ears are one unit and come on as a helmet. The ears are add ons, your own being blocked due to the silicone over it. This is an additional problem because then hearing is impaired. Two small holes are bored into the skull so some sound can go through. Also when you speak it reverberates inside the skull and you constantly feel you are inside a tunnel with pronounced echo. Eye lids upper and lower come on close to the eyes, the forehead is another piece, the nose, the two cheeks, the upper and lower lip, the chin and finally the neck all get stuck on and then blended through an intricate electronic spray which merges all the pieces to look like one cohesive mass. In this condition then, if you develop an itch inside your face or the head it is impossible to get to it - you just bear it. To accentuate the condition of the rest of the skin on the body special make up to highlight the veins is colored on. For this I had to get all the hair on my hands and arms and chest and legs shaved clean every day. The make up spray which has alcohol content in its construction burns as it is applied on exposed skin - but you just bear it. The heat of the lights has the ability to melt the silicon and so remaining in the sun for long is out as is non air conditioned studios.
5 hours to put it all on, 2 hours to take it off and 6 hours to work - at times more if we are behind schedule. Tough ! But then whoever said film making was a luxury. Then .. for a sunrise shot you start getting ready from the previous night at about 11PM, sit through the entire night to be ready by 4-5 AM and then go on to work.
Seeing the first promo has been an emotional moment for me and also for many that see it. There is something about the music, the feel that immediately gets your hair on end and tears begin to well up. For AB Corp it is an important day from the days of survival and bankruptcy to this. For Abhishek it is an important moment to have taken on the responsibility of managing the production and the entire making as a Producer. For Balki it is a moment of fulfillment from the day he came up with this idea and today to see it fructify. For each and every member of the crew, the camera department, the lighting, the spot boys, the light men, assistants and all the marketing and promotional personnel from Reliance, it has been a very dedicated labor of love. It has been the belief of all these people in a project which when heard did not seem achievable. But they have done it and credit goes to them all. They are the true heroes of the film and today I salute them for making it happen.
For the colleagues and artists involved, what can I say. Paresh and Vidya and Abhishek. The kids and friends of Auro. The supporting cast. The genius of Illairaja. The genius of PC sir our DOP. Every single person has worked on this project as though they owned it.
My love and extreme gratitude to them. This labor of love shall never go unrewarded ..
Thank you all .. from me .. from AB Corp

Hi Amitji.
Have a fabulous time….and super success of Paa. Looking forward to see it. Sad that media will try to tear the film apart even before its released. But hold on…..it will definitely work out. All the best.
Five basic truths :
- isvara , controller, the supreme Lord is the driver under whose direction everything is working.
- jivas, the controlled entities,
- prakrti, material nature, cosmic manifestations is , how it is controlled by time, and what the activities of the living entities are.
- Kala, eternal time
- karma
Jivas. A particle of gold is also gold, a drop of water from ocean is also salty, and similarly we the living entities, being part and parcel of supreme controller , isvara, or Bhagavan , Lord Krsna, have all qualities of the Supreme Lord in minute quantity because we are minute isvaras , subordinate isvaras.

Dear Lion King,
After watching the trailer I reiterate there was a twang in my heart. The pictures make me feel very melancholic, to the point of crying. I think I will be overcome with this one like the way your acting in Black took over me for a few days at a very emotional level. A haunting feeling where I kept replaying certain scenes in my mind over and over. Likewise, I have not been able to get the Paa pictures out of my head. I think I know what is in store, I watched Brad Pitt in the curious case of Benjamin Button and I was not astounded but now when I know that Paa will be a bit similar, I am in for a long haul simply because you are Auro. I know I will be melancholic for a long time as this movie is going to have a mega effect on my sense and sensibility. The greatest performer of all times donning this role as Auro and speaking in the voice of a 12 year old, born old and living to grow young is going to strike a chord amongst millions. Not to say that the ones who truly love you are likely to be very affected by this movie and it is likely to go down the annals of cinema as your best performance. This movie is going to surprise the Indian audience completely, each one of your fiercest critic is also in for an emotional roller coaster ride. As this movie will play on all our minds, even the critics will heed to their conscience for a change. I am sure of it.
The trailer I saw have not left me wondering about the prosthetics involved at all. In appears you have evolved in the most natural biological way into the character and that is the marvel of it all. It has left me spellbound. Spellbound to the hilt. Auro is as real as Amitabh Bachchan is. I never felt this way before with the exception of Don, where I gave you my reasons as a seven year old why I thought you are God. But this time, as a mature individual ( despite having the same emotions of the same seven year old towards you) you have taken me to another plane where I see you now as Auro. If the promo has had this effect on me, I shudder to think what the movie will do to me.
My admiration for you continues to ever grow. In all honesty not because I am your fan I say this, but I would even I were a journalist or a pestering political figure.I say this, true to my heart and soul -
Mr Bachchan you are immortal.
I bow my head down to you and of course I would kiss your hands…

amitabh, i am a south african indian, and I remember you coming over for your first concert in Durban in around early 1990’s and that was the closest I came to see you. Personally you are to most south africans( Indians) , number 1 and I do not think any one will ever emulate what you have done in life. I would not say all this was luck, this was sheer passion and hard work on your side and your support system, Jaya.
Amitabhjee, I have a general question to ask to you and I would appreciate if you could reply to me.
Is Rajesh Khanna and Shotgun still close to you , do you speak to them or meet them say for coffee or chai.

Here are the lyrics of this song, I apologize for men under 50 years old, they are not included in the poem :), Honor to men more than 50 years of age!:
Je cherche un homme de 50 ans, qui a tout rêvé, qui a tout perdu,
… snobes et intellectuels s’abstenir SVP
… snobs and intellectuals Please refrain:)
Qui s’en est juste assez voulu, pour savoir ce qu’il veut vraiment,
Je cherche un homme de 50 ans, qui a déjà juste assez d’argent,
Mais que l’argent n’éblouit plus.
*
I want a man of 50, who has dreamed of everything and who lost everything,
Who just regret enough to know what he really want
I want a man of 50, who has just enough money
But that money doesn’t dazzle him anymore.
________________________________________________________________
*
I want a man of 50, who has already enjoyed, has already disappointed
And who has just enough children, enough to be touched,
I want a man who has survived everything who already smoked and drunk everything
Who saw all naked women, a man who no longer seeks.
______________________________________________________________
*
I want a man of 50 years, who knows what he did not offer
Who has more past than future, but finally takes his time,
I want a man of 50 years, who is already prepared for the worst,
Who knows what time can’t heal, who already saw too many funerals.
______________________________________________________
*
I want a man of 50 years, whom the truth does not make run away any more
Who has the courage and don’t lie about his damned feelings, Oh yes, a man of 50 years, who doesn’t takes himself seriously anymore,
But who would love me silently, and would do his best.
______________________________________________________
*
I want a man not too strong, because nobody is ever
One that would have just enough wrinkles, and almost no secrets,
I want a man like there’s a lot, but I don’t see ever
One who looks like my sorrow, and maybe is waiting for me
______________________________________________________
*
A man of 50 years, maybe more, maybe less,
Of course one not perfect, but one who would be mine,
Maybe not for life but for a few moments so true,
At least my heart will not be destroyed everytime I remember him

So for those interested, please leave your name and address in a box made to that effect in the lobby,
Nasty and obsessed … mmm I have no problems with that …: P No, seriously, I met a man … waw! … 57 years , handsome as a god!

Mr. B,
U seem to be playing some sort of a trick on us !tell us what……r u returning ?
Hey there u r young man! Oh my God I cant believe it!Just stunned .
Hello again!
Still no text!
Very nice to read all the positive reviews from your esteemed colleagues like Yash Chopra. Black moved the bar higher for Indian Cinema and I hope PAA does it too.
The day of film release must be an exciting and nervous time for all the stake holders. Hmm, I know I would not have felt what you feel at that time, but I think it would come close to how I feel when one of my software projects goes live. So much hard work and thought is put in while working on a project and the day its goes live (meaning released to the world on WWW), there is nothing more you can do but just hope that people like or atleast dont completly hate what you have given them.
Do you like sneaking in cinema halls to judge public response to your movies?
Good look with PAA
Best Regards,
Aalok J
Hi amitji
Whaaaao!!! Too cute!!
I LUV PAA ‘S POSTER AND IT’S WEBSITE.
I hope you are well and nerves are not getting the better of you. It IS very nearly time for the promo unveiling at Cinemax, so I wish you AB corp and the entire team the very best of luck, knowing you will not need it! I am fixated with the trailer thats doing the rounds on You Tube today, the full version was there by the time I arrived at work this morning. At the risk of repeating myself and unnerving you further Mr. Bachchan - without a shadow of a doubt PAA looks set to surpass all expectations and take over from where Black left off! If a minute long trailer can inspire such emotions, excitement, intrigue and awe I can only begin to imagine the impact the full will story have.
The very best of luck, love and success, 20 mins to unveiling… back after reading about little cutie pie Auro!!
With much love,
Jasmine

Dear Lion King,
My eyes are red and moist as I read what you have penned. I have not seen this level of dedication in any individual and you go on to excel and exceed your own limits and our thinking. I am crying not because of the music of Illayaraja which is divine but by your sweet and endearing lines and this line especially has stirred me, deep within my soul -
” For AB Corp it is an important day from the days of survival and bankruptcy to this.”
I cry with you, I experience with you the joy and pride. You are a guide, a guide to the art of living itself.
I love you more and more, first as Don now as Auro. I cannot write any more..

Hello Again! (You can see, I am making full use of the break from work
)
Just read your post. Its mind boggling! Is that you!?!
I dont know how you pulled this off!
People say, Cinema is Magic! Well, just reading how much work goes into creating this “Magic”, I am completely in awe! Kudos to everyone for making this movie…right from people who conceptualized it, executed it and brought it to life. Now, I just cant wait to see it! I wish I had either not seen this or I could see the movie right now! This is CRUEL
With all that make up…I would die of claustrophobia! You indeed are a very patient man. Maybe something that comes with experience.
Salute!!!
Aalok J
Respected Amitji,
You look too good, innocent, naive, and very very cute! Even before seeing the film just for your look I wish to say that the film is going to be a HUGE SUCCESS! I saw the You Tube video suggested by Rajeev Masand. Piggy riding on Abhishek’s back you look very good. Infact that scene can move someone to tears..! Congrats!

Sir,
Good afternoon, i have no words to express what i am seeing on my monitor. Its unbelievable & only you can pull it off. Kudos for even thinking this can be done & then executing such project.
I was watching your interview with Barkha Dutt yesterday & i want to share that she made me nervous, as i have seen her doing the debates & she never has come out so cynical about any topic & thats every perplexing. Her demanour was obvious & i think you did feel the same. I think you need not do such interviews if they are compelling to talk when you don’t want to. The only advantage of such long interviews on TV, is we get to see you, but any sort of discomfort to you in unacceptable.
Paa, is going to be glorious, transcending cinema. May be you also know within yourself that this is something you needed on your crown already studded with Jewels.
We all wish you tons of luck,
Regards,
Kiran
Dear Amit Ji,
Outstanding poster design. After a long time I am seeing a poster which is true to the story and trying to say something to the auidence about the film. Generating curiosity and making one wonder what is it all this about?
You could have chosen the easy way out, having Abhishek, you and Vidya all in one poster posing for a grand film, but as you already mentioned and this poster depicts it rightly - “no one associated with this project took the easy way out”.
I am glad that you chose a very skilled technical team (PC, Ilayaraja etc). Looking forward to an outstanding film.
My best wishes for the film and I wish it is a big commercial success.
I shall watch it, just by the curiosity the poster generated, irrespective of what reviews the film gets.
Regards,
KK
My beloved Maharaj,
Thanks for the sneak peak of your PAA look. How gracious of you and how sweet of you wanting to share it with us at your earliest.
I LOVE AURO ’cause I know it is YOU behind AURO. And the efforts you have made and the pain you have put into the making of this film will pay off BIG TIME. This I am sure of.
Three cheers for PAA.

It is beyond comprehension that AURO is you. I don’t believe it. All those hours on the makeup chair, sitting still and having to bear the itch etc was worth it.
I love the music played and the anticipation of it’s release is hard to wait for. Simply amazing.
I’ve got so much to say but like Sharmila ( # 31 ) my eyes well up and everything’s a blur. All except your vision.
Love always,

Sir,
I have not seen the promo of Paa, hence no comments on that. But, I want to say something on Aladin. We (family) have seen the film a couple of days back and simply loved it for Sujoy’s fantastic direction, Ritesh and YOU. It was genuinely a very well made film, something on the lines of Bhoothnath. You were fantastic to say the least, I do not know why there were critics saying it was an average performance. The song ‘You may be’ and your lip sync in that was awesome and mind blowing.
Thanks for being there and entertaining us.
Sujoy
Different, shocking and absolutely out of this world promo. Hope it will do magic, bring tears and huge success to AB corps.
Wish ya all the best
Dearest Mr Bachchan
Your look on this poster.. and on the trailer… are heartbreakingly awesomely indescribable beyond any words. Finally my impatience overcame me and I just HAD to watch the leaked trailer on YouTube and honestly I am finding it hard to keep back the tears just watching a tiny rough quality promo.. so I fear a tidal wave when I finally see you in the cinema. I am just sooooo longing to see the film and now have even more fervent hopes for it than before.
And what truly utterly amazes me that even through this character, under these extraordinarily complex and all-consuming layers of make-up, miraculously your true essence still shines through… through all the effects of ageing and mortality and the skull and veins and decrepit teeth and stricken eyes … I still see you.. or rather you as this young soul so much in love with the world and with a life that could have so many aspects of tragedy… this is the most poignant reminder ever that true beauty lies within… and you as an actor have the power to reveal this to the world. Your talent and your courage astound me.
And the final shot in the trailer where Abhishek carries you on his back… there aren’t any words…
I it is unbearable that we have to wait another month for the film.. but the best things in life are stupendously worth waiting for…
With all my love, Daisy
Respected Amitji!
Auro is a lovable child. I had read about a family in Kolkata where three children suffer from progeria. It is also the only known case where three members of the same family have been affected. Some research has been done on this and some help is being offered to them. How difficult it must be for the parents of these children!
Your description of your make up was an eye opener. As viewers when we watch a film we never think of all these aspects of film making. We too would like to congratulate all those people who made this possible. It is a marvellous piece of work. Kudos to all!
Shubha
Dear Sir

Quite nervous about the film - yet it’s so endearing to watch you do Auro. I hope it’s an uplifting film. Most importantly, very glad that you ‘exposed’ Auro! Because this face needs to be popular enough to moviegoers in run up to the movie. Good move!
The music is so apt - akin to Terms of Endearment. Another ’sound’ judgement.
Bless it!

Sir
Expect Aaj Tak to spice up the news !!!!!!! Breaking News Abhishek Bachan will tell the world that he has a SON !!!!! See it exclusive @ Aaj Tak @ 5.30pm…:)
Again please accept my salute, you rock sir
Manoj
Dear Amitji,
I will not say I am a big fan of yours, neither will say you are my childhood Hero or a die hard follower.
You heard lot of these from millions.
But would like to express open heartedly you doesn’t need any appreciation or good wishes.
God has made you with some purpose to be loved by millions.
Your Calmness is the cradle of power. There is more to you than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps for the rest of our lives we will be unwilling to settle for less.
We respect you.
God doesn’t look at how much we do, but with how much love we do it.
With Best Regards

Dear Mr Bachchan,
Just the look of Auro gives me strange, never before feelings. This is definitely a first for Indian cinema. This movie seems to hold the potential to take Indian cinema to the next level. Well done Sir!
My best wishes to the team of ‘Paa’.
Melwyn
For AB,
Heres wishing you and the team an epic success for ‘Paa’.
15 Cr or US$ 3 m is a good tight budget for a movie these days. Even if you release a moderate 1000 prints on 4th Dec ‘09, at an average of US$ 5 a viewer per show of 200 seats you net US$ 2.4 m on day 1, at an 80% occupancy. You break-even on the 3rd or 4th day at a falling average of 20%. By the end of a full week, the gross should cross Rs 750 m or US$15 m.
Judging by the initial response of your friends, its should gross over Rs 200 Cr which is US$ 40 m at a modest Rs 50 per US dollar. Thats 7 times break-even, if it flops!
If the movie succeeds then you can expect the Mumbai Income Tax Commissioner to camp outside Prateeksha at the end of this accounting year!!
I don’t think the piracy factor of youtube and DVD will affect the collection because Paa seems like a movie for a family weekend at the mall. Bulk of the guys who watch movies in 10 min grabs on youtube or unauthorized DVD are either not regular cinema hall audiences or cannot afford the price in a multiplex. These volumes are statistically insignifcant and are usually discounted from the project value.
My heartiest wishes for the biggest hit of 2009… Paa!
Love
Sudhir

Dear Sir,
We take our hats off, and bow our heads in appreciation of what You, Abhishek, Vidya, Balki & ABCorp have revealed today!!!!!!!!!
Its much much much BEYOND our wildest expectations!!!!!!
Its truly a labor of love, and it shows in every frame of the 63 second promo.
Today, AURO has surpassed Debraj Sahai.
It certainly was a monumental task to do so, but now onwards, it shall be an IMPOSSIBLE task to even come close to Auro.
I always thought no one could surpass Amitabh Bachchan.
But I was wrong….. for today Amitabh Bachchan himself has surpassed Amitabh Bachchan!!!!!!
Take a bow, Sir! The world is standing with its heads bowed….

amit ji- it seems you are closest to god- seeing the promo for paa- i am stunned, shocked- isnt enough words in vocab to explain it. i am sure its going to be one of the best hindi movie ever.
wish you & ab corp - all the best for paa.
regards & pranam,

Looks like another turkey.
All the best for Paa.
If the poster of Paa was shown to me without any reference I would have never recognized your face. The poster picture has been taken from an unusual angle using a slightly wide angle lens which normally distorts a bit but a film mostly uses eye-level angles. Would like to see the face from normal angles. I guess I have to see the film to check that out. Looks like an interesting film and would love to see it.
First and foremost the Kudos should go to the person who conceived the project, Balki or whosoever the writer/conceiver of idea is and then to others.
u ROOOOOOOOOCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK SIR,
I WAS LEAVING MEDICINE IN MY COLLEGE DAYD TO COME TO BECOME A DIRECTOR TO DIRECT YOU THAT WAS A DREAM AND USED TO SAVE MY POCKET MONEY IN THOSE DAYS TO SEND IT TO YOU ,NOT THAT U REQUIRED IT BUT IT WAS ALL I COULD GIVE WHEN ABCL WAS NOT DOING WELL U HAVE A DEEP CONNECTION WITH ME …..DO SUCH ROLES AND AVOID OVEREXPOSING IT MUCH LET THE SUS[PENSE BE THERE TILL THE MOVIE RELEASES ….BEST REGARDS …HARE KRISHNA
Dear Sir,
Perhaps I should say Dear Auro, bearing in mind Auro’s age I am not going to address him with a “ji.” What shall I say to you? I’ve just seen your photo up there and I sense a mischievous child in you. I think you will leave an impact on cinema goers! I would very much like my family to see this film. It will be a learning experience for all. It will be beneficial to those who are discriminated against because of disability, it I hope, it will provide a greater understanding of the traumas and pains of those that suffer.
Yes, this film is an AB Corp Production and no doubt it is history in making from whichever angle it is perceived..from the subject of the film to its Production, you at this stage in life playing the role of a child…it is going to be a landmark…I’m so happy for you! All that torture you put yourself through under silicone and heavy make-up will finally pay off! What an effort!
Aladin is not forgotten…I shall be going either today or tomorrow with a friend. I shall let you know.
I’m afraid I wont be able to write much today because I have already spent some time reading comments.
I wish you all the best Sir with this new film under the Bachchan banner. May it prove to be a huge success.
Love,
Daksha
Dear Kashmira ji, you have remembered me..thank you so much. I have read your comments many times and learn much from you. For all your efforts towards the under-privileged I have much admiration for you. God bless.
Dear Tatiana..thank you so much. I feel better now. You are right, I miss him, the “downpours” continue…as they say time will heal…God bless you.
Dear Amit Ji,
It’s amazing to see you in a new avatar in PAA and which going to be a directional movie for India Cinema. And most important thing is this movie coming from ABCL aka A B Corp. I am so excited after looking film promo that I wish to see the movie on its release.
Wishing you & Abhishek all the success for PAA and your forthcoming movies.
Best Regards,
PT.
Dearest Buddy,
The photograph is making us cry after seeing the abnormalities of the child. This film will certainly make us weep for sure; pray there are no delays and releases on 4th December on time.
May all the hard work that you had put during the silicon make up for hours together on the dentist’s chair bring in the best of results.
Thought of checking the Blog in the night, was busy at office; one of our colleague passed away.
Warm regards,
Kabeer
you are the god of acting love u sir this is outstanding nd brilliant
Dear Sir..

Dear Amithji,
And Many thanks for mentioining about the crew members including IR and also about the music whoch is worth repeating:
“There is something about the music, the feel that immediately gets your hair on end and tears begin to well up.”
I was waiting for this moment. Please Please never loose the opportunity of witnessing the re-recording sessions alive of this magical genius called Ilaiyaraaja (the right spelling,as IR would have wanted to), the swiftness and deftness he carries out in matter of minutes without any stopwatch, in one single observation. I have seen him in action, thats why I am saying this.
Hope to listen a lot about the film’s behind the scene nostalgia further which you might have resisted to share

The trailer is amazing and I can wait to see this movie. I would like to take my sons to watch this movie. They are 8,6, and 2. Is it appropriate for children that age to watch this movie? If not, I shall not take them. Please advise.

THIS FILM IS GOING TO CREATE A HISTORY. THIS KIND OF CONCEPT HAS NEVER BEEN ATTEMPTED IN INDIAN CINEMA.
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Just your passion for your work can keep you doing all of the “make-up”
every day of work. God, how you feel in that prosthetic it is a torture,
I am suffocated just reading ! “Sorry” for your “father” , I saw him giving you a back ride !!!!!
Congratulation for everybody’s work for this film !
For you, Mr. Bachchan, I have no words to express my gratitude to you !
You are indeed the finest actor and sublime in this movie ( even without
your gorgeous “anatomy” ).
Love you,
e.t.
AMITABH BACHCHAN PLAYING THE ROLE OF AN ABNORMAL HUMAN BEING IS LIKELY TO BE A MILE STONE IN INDIAN FILM MAKING.
Dear Amitabh
I am taking this liberty because I am from Allahabad and studied in your sister school “Girls High School”, perhaps not long after your time.
I have a special request: Would you please send me the poem of Shri Harvansh Rai Bacchhan’ s poem which says something like ” Main hoon unke saath khada jinki seedhi reedh”. I have been looking for it for long. I’ll be extremely grateful if you publish other poems also on his 101 birth day.Plenty of fans like me are searching for them. You may be surprised ,but like me there are many who are more dedicated fans of him than of you. Are you jealous?
Bandana Bagchi
Bhopal
My dearest Mr. Bachchan,
The labour of love will certainly not pass unrewarded in any sense. Indeed you have had to fight for survival and did so through sheer hard work and dedication, driven by the resolve to save a company that bore your family name. You have come a long way from difficult times and you will continue to flourish!
Many of us remember the painstaking make up process you endured daily in your ‘dentists chair’ as I rememeber you dubbed it then whilst filming. Its utterly fascinating to finally see the awesome result of this seamless disguise, which I have to say you bring to life with exquisite precision!
Your stance and deportment perfectly echo those of young boy exuding the expression of an innocent yet mischievous mind. Your professional prowess has probably been put through its most rigorous test this year, but somehow even that single still shot publicizes your immensely extensive capabilities!!
In the theatrical promo (which is now up) I am amazed that you capture the vivacity a child with a debilitating disease still maintains with such breathtaking accuracy in Auro when he is dancing and splashing in the rain. I have always though children have no self consciousness or awareness if their own body is working against them and of the potential hindrance it can cause. They just manoeuvre on impulse anyway as you show. For me your on screen command overshadows the scenery, music and if I am honest your colleagues as prolific as they are. It is impossible not to mesmerised by an actor whose every expression and gesture is as precise as yours, and one who can rouse the deepest emotions in the most callous of hearts. You are the crest of any production by all accounts and evidence; regardless of what you claim!
No other words for it Mr. Bachchan - ‘Paa’ and Auro are set to win hearts, minds and imaginations for ‘decades’ to come and I don’t think that is too optimistic! You really have raised the benchmark - now prepare to reap just accolade!
I hope the work progresses well and thank you for the poster and promo. Even though You Tube have it already, I don’t see how a short clip can be too damaging at this stage before the release. It has only served to whet the viewers appetite with its brilliance!
Hope you are very well and continue to gather favourable reactions to this promo. Wishing you a lovely evening.
All my love,
Jasmine

I am up late today on my day off and didn’t expect a post so soon.
Thank you for showing us that look of ‘PAA”. I did not expect those teeth!
And I never knew that you had to go thhrough all that shaveing every day. This project has shown what lengths all are willing to go through for their art.
I salute everyone you have mentioned but especially you.
I’m sure you went through so much including many itches knowing that you would just have to bear it.
Good luck to everybody connected with ‘PAA’. I’m sure it will have a huge impact and cannot wait to see it. One month to go!
Love,
Rochelle
At last a truly award winning performance in ABCL production. i think you are going to monopolise awards for best performance for-2009 ,inclusive of National Award.
wow-more accolades, more decorations, more awards and greater recognition for the real actor of the millenium –Amitabh Bachchan.
All this was kept under wraps for a long time –
indeed a great job!
there should be awards for every one—
best actor
best supporting actor
best actor-female
best supporting actor–male
and probably the best musical score and best story and screenplay
wishing paa grand success

Dearest Mr. Bachchan,
Thank you for this early and unexpected post today and also for putting the poster on the blog…it is just amazing.
A complete transformation of your looking through this intricate and very meticulous make up procedures. I certainly do remember when you were talking about these arduous and long make up sessions, and about the difficulty of wearing these prosthetics for long hours. I can just imagine how far your passion to your work can take you, and how strong and intense your talent and skills are. I am very much excited about this movie, and can’t wait to watch you playing that character of AURO, the aging child.
I salute the belief and devoted labour of all the team worked in this project and who achieved this which was thought to be unachieved.
I wish you, Abishiek, ABCL, and all the team all best of luck and all success.

Hello Sir,
Today’s post - related tp Paa seemed to be very heart felt. And the way you have acknowledge all your team members I believe is the reason for your success. One should always remember the contributers to ones success. Abhishek is a 1st time producer in this movie? All the best to him as well.
I saw Aladin on Saturday, must say the way you danced in all the songs you gave Ritesh a tough time matching up to your energy. I am a great fan of Disney’s Aladin series hence the movie was slight disappointment, but you all put a good act together.

Dear Amit Ji,
This is my first ever experience of sharing my views with you through this wonderful medium of communication & to tell you that I am one of the millions & millions of your fans would just be an understatement as I am not only your fan due to your charisma, skill, performances, durability & versatility as an actor but a follower of your behaviour, temparament, cool & calm attitude, never-say-quit & always raring to go type attitude which made you the Icon that you are today & you will always be living in our hearts for infinity.
I am a resident of Indore (M.P.) & an Advocate by profession & as long as I could remember its always you who was my Hero & inspiration in many which ways & even today you are & will remain my hero for its not at all your stardom alone which attracted people towards you but its your way of living & understanding of the life as a whole which gives inspiration to others.
I have today seen the First Look of Paa & it seems to me that this Movie is going to be a milestone in many ways & you, as usual, are heading for another height of astonishing, profound & spellbound magnificent performance to be seen by us all & I am eagerly awaiting for its release.
Being a fan & follower, I must state that please left no stone unturned to promote the Movie with keeping in place its storyline, vigour & sensibility & not just with some songs/musicals only. Today, it is just a matter of First Show that the comments upon the film came out & most of the times the prospects of a movie descends alarmingly after reviews & I hope & wish that everything goes well with this project as it seems that labour, time, emotions attached with this Movie are high.
Also allow me to say that your earlier release “Aladin” has garnered very poor response at the Box-Office all over but according to me this file has achieved something very interesting & that is that Director Sujoy Ghosh has achieved unthinkable by making this kind of film with actors like you & Sanjay Dutt (you are the only saving grace of the film) & get it bombed & made it one of the biggest flops of your carrer, which in itself is a very big feet to achieve, as these days it is almost impossible even for any director to deliver such a gem because today every maker knows his target audience very well & every maker today is putting some thing or the other to cater to its target audience so as to recover the cost of investment but Ghosh Babu hit the jackpot with Aladin.
I also must say that I always went to see you & not your films off late as most of them are not depicting your talent or performance & only relying on your presence & goodwill with no substance & meaty roles for you & most of these films are quite weak in their overall content, storyline & screenplay etc.
Anyway, whatever the outcome, as an ardent fan, I will continue to watch your films first day first show with my friends & your fans just to see you in action on screen.
Pardon me for my english as it is not at all good but my emotions & commitment towards you is unquestionable & yes I am biased towards you.
Regards & in anticipation of your reply.
Pankaj R. Kumar
Amazed and why can’t we see the film right now?!!!
The arduous process of wearing the prosthesis must be appreciated. You people go through so much simply to entertain us. I understand the passion beneath your profession.
Many good wishes for the success of Paa… dil se!
Anshu
Hi,
Let me first congratulate you for this feat in the log list of those you are tiresomely used to.
But, I’m sure, this one is as special for you as for the entire nation, Bollywood and your lovers all over the globe. The film should be very special for you for at least 3 most important reasons, what I can see.
1. You wear a look.. whoops.. what can I say? Are words enough? This is superlative.
2. This one is probably one of even your entire career’s most challenging assignments. Hats off !!!
3. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I look at it as a big milestone for ABCL which has been through so much, finally to achieve remarkable feat. What a comeback for AB Corp.!!!
There must be other factors like Abhishek’s involvement in production as you mention and, what you don’t mention but must have felt, seeing a son playing his father. Must be emotional on a psychological level.
Coming back, I just hope this experimentation by AB Corp goes far and proves to be a big leap for the entire Bollywood. There were several characterizations and looks designed for you in several films. But, without any disregard for any of them, I can see that this has been chiseled just for you. Going by the trailers, no one can match the intensity we notice in your playing and portrayal.
Just a little word of caution at the end. I’ve spent last few days writing, commenting and responding to several comments on my own as well others’ blogs with regards to the new trend of ruthless reviews.
I just wish you get your media and promotions right. Over the last 2-3 months what we have noticed was that reviews ended playing a very significant role over and above brilliant marketing, promotions and PR. This also has got something to do with the re-surfacing trend of first positioning heroes and then killing it. You only played that hero in your timeless classic Main Azad Hoon, long back. Now, as the media has grown its claws and mushroomed, it has its good as well evil effects both to the same intensity.
So, what happens is that when a small info or update starts surfacing, the entire media starts making scoops and heroes out of the project and the protagonist respectively. They project both the project (film) and the protagonists out of proportion. But, the news is so ripe and stale by the time of release that they need to kill the heroes they made out of protagonists till this point and it becomes necessary for them to say death.
Please just be careful. All the best.

Dear AB,
I know it is unfair to compare one great artist with another, but just on the makeup front, I think this outdoes anything that Kamal hasan has ever attempted to do. He is a great actor who takes up such challenges that have met with success and appreciation, but Paa’s Auro is truly world class.
And I am sure AB’s act will elevate this to stratosphere.
God Bless. Good Luck.
Dear Amitji, Good Evening. I just viewed the promo on my younger daughter’s laptop because mine does not have sound. Came back with filled eyes and now typing a response from my laptop. Hope what Paa will portray will be a story of special child. The birth of a child to parents is a very sentimental and special moment of life. However when the parents learn of the deformity in their child their lives are shattered for a while. The heart is broken in to many pieces but soon they come to terms and start rebuilding own dreams with renewed vigour and a special courage reinforced by dedication which makes them special Godly parents and start afresh with their shattered dreams piecing together the broken heart. Each piece of heart thus becomes a force of love and care for their child. They live a challenged life themselves along with their challenged child.
A story revolving around such a family may not be of any entertainment value but is a grim reminder of the situation which they empathetically would understand and appreciate. How God has been kind to them they would understand and have feelings in the bottom of their hearts for those to whome God put forth more challenges and happiness in a special shell of their own. The family thus living each moment in their own world of very meaningful existence. A world within the world for them. A special world of their own in particular. Their own defining moments in their own special parameters.
Paa will be remembered as a story of such a child played by you. Your pain of prosthetics you may forget when you remember the broken hearts of such families. God may be kind in giving a child to the parents but asking them for a larger than life role for them as if God lives in those parents and shows how life’s like these can be lived with happiness on own terms.
I too bow my head to the creator of such a story and the actors who lived the false moments depicting true challenges of such families. Today I must say God tests few much more than others and brings the best out of those families. My tributes and regards to such parents who live PAA’s real life stories.

Greetings sir!
Sir, more than your acting I am the fan of your great personality. You are a role model for even a 12 year old like me.
Also, I have read many poems of your father that I have recited in many competitions.
I find your olden days films more interesting and touching than your modern.
Sir please mail me back your response on-ksharma36@gmail.com
I really want to be lucky enough in the Indian population for I once want to talk to you.
But it looks quiet impossible as I live in Faridabad.
ALL THE VERY BEST FOR ———-PAA
WOW…Mr.Bachchan, the look is awesome…Like u wish, i 2 wish that all the effort gone into making this movie is recognized and acknowledged.God bless
@RAVI P MALHOTRA
Very well written. I have gone through a situation where some doctors advised us to abort as they felt that baby might have birth defects. It killed us and the period between getting this information and the time when baby was actually born and we knew that baby is healthy was toughest time of our lives. I cant even begin to imagine what parents go through when parents find out about deformities in their child. Its only love which keeps them going and they slowly learn to live, accept and form a special world in which they have their own special moments. Its amazing how love gives hope and happiness.
Best Regards,
Aalok J
You are incredible , no one can come near you.
i don’t know whether u’ll read this or not but i know ur movie paa ‘ll be a gr8 success
Dear Amit Ji,
I enjoyed ur role in ‘Cheeni Kum’ . Balki & Ilayaraja gave a wonderful movie and ur performance in CK was very nice.
Personally I feel happy that Ilayaraja & U have joined again for a emotional movie. According to me Ilayaraja is an unsung hero who can make a simple film into a great one with his magical music. ‘Paa’ is, as i expected earlier, an emotional movie ( what i observed from various sites and magazines) and Maestro Ilayaraja is wonderful choice for this movie.
All the best to u and the whole team.
Dear Mr Amitabh,
Have been your fan since I don’t know when…guess when I was 11 or 12.Well am a mother of two,in my early forties now and still in awe of you.I wish I get to meet with you some day.
I never saw Deewar when I was a kid cause my brother said that you die in the movie.Haven’t seen the whole movie even today.
Saw your interview last night on NDTV and today I saw the first look of “PAA”….wanted to reach out to you and here I am.
You are an amazing man…your fighting spirit, the classy way you speak, the way you walk and talk…there’s no one in this industry that can match your charisma.
I wish your life goes into the educational books…for kids to learn from..”the life of an amazing professional”.
My dad is 78yrs old and can’t speak due to a stroke he suffered 9 years back.He smiles, laughs and eats like a child now.He organised your trip to Sabarimala many years back. You visited the Ayappan temple in Chennai (he is one of the founders). He has this huge picture with you which he loved to flaunt.Wish you all the very best always…Truly in awe of you.Wish I get to see you in this life.Take care and all the very best of AB Corp’s PAA….Love N Regards.:-)))

Luv and regards

all the best
Dear Mr.Bachchan
Was quite amazed to read your experiences abt the makeup and how so many pieces are put together to give the complete look. One question…how difficult is it to emote or bring the required expression with all that on the face? we saw how Kamal Haasan had used it in films like Hindustani and Chachi 420 and emoted successfully. But some of the characters in his Dashavatar, in my honest opinion and with due respect, didn’t get the required expressions coz of the makeup and at times looked very fake.
Dear Aalok J #162, Thanks for your response. I too relived some such moments of anxiety till we knew the children are normal. Having seen also plight of some close friends who handled such challenges one does feel the way I wrote. Life has so much in store that one is numbed at times seeing such challenges.

Hi Amitji,
I m really stunned seeing the promo of Paa and reading the make up details u have gone thru. Its amazing….no words left to express my feeling and praise your work. Its absolutely outstanding.
All the best for the film.
Well done.
Hey
I havent written on ur blog for a long time…..
I saw your NDTV interview yesterday with Barkha Dutt. I thought you were fantastic. Honest, forthright and yet private and respectful. Normally Barkha finds it very hard to control herself from interrupting her guests at all times. But she didnt do that with you. That is coz of your ENIGMA. I dont think you are intimidating, I think people are in awe of you when they talk to you.
Good Luck with Paa.
M
What an enduring and beautiful picture of a young child! Amitji, I can hardly believe it is you, it brings tears to my eyes seeing this poster. All the pain and suffering of the prosthetics to produce this portrayal of a young boy is mind-blowing and awesome!!
I wish you every SUCCESS for ‘PAA’ and I sincerely hope you win the equivalent of an Oscar for your role in this film. Thank you for taking on such a challenging part and making movies for us to enjoy, looking forward very much to seeing this. Best wishes to your son and all the crew for ‘PAA’
With love & warm regards,

Mr. Bachchan,

We wish lots of Success and Pray to GOD for Success of this film.

Dear Amitji
Saw your interview on NDTV yesterday with Barka Dutt. I admire your view that you would not want to change anything bad that has ever happened in your life. I am sure that is what has made you the person who you are.
Good luck with PAA.
Jubilant
Respected Amitabh Ji,
Namaste. This is not just ‘Auro’. This is inspiration, to work hard, to excel, to go beyond limits. What you described in the post today is a marathon most of us cannot fathom. I appear for job interviews and every one of them leaves me drained. Thus, even if I try to imagine how draining it must have been for you, I cannot. My best wishes for the success of PAA.
Lots of love
Ashutosh Sharma
hello sir,
u r really looking good in the movie. I just watch d trailer. If u dont say tht its you then i surely will not e able to recognize u. You are really looking like a kid. I like the dancing scene most especially when u bent ur arms in it. it reminds me of one guy who comes to gurudwara for doing sewa. sir why dont u release phases of your make up it will be interesting to watch by ceeing ur face changing slowly in 5 hrs.
Dear Sir,
Iam writing for the 1st time on your Blog, or u can say iam communicating with u for the 1st time in my life though being a die hard fan of yours since the age of 3 or 4 years, Well now iam 30.
Sir, All the best for Paa, Its going to turn out a very Big Film. the Promo is truly reflecting the creativity of the full team of Paa & reflecting your hardwork for giving that creative thoughts a final outcome, a midas touch. Sir i sincerely request you to work on more & more such projects like Black & Paa which will truly show this world what wonders you can do on the screen.
Sir you are the best & only one actor in this world with whom no one can compete, & after seeing the Best of your work which u always tried to deliver in this 60 years. Now people expect more & more from you, Their expectations have gone very high & they never get satisfied with a normal film from you. I would say you are responsible for this bad habit of the people.
Hence now to keep them happy, you will have to work out on more & more such creativity work which should win the hearts of the people.
Thanks ! Good Night
Parvez
speechless paaji…………..
Sir, My eyes well as I read through the post and I can only say…Oh my god!
Paali from Toronto
Amazing! Touching, intriguing first look. Congratulations sir! Can’t wait for the release.
Much love.
this going to be a bench mark in the history of cinema !!
Hi Sir,
The theatrical promo for PAA is truly amazing. It is emotional, full of love, it’s everything. If it was not put out that it is you playing Auro, there is no way to have deciphered that it is you behind all the prosthetics. The prosthetics are a magnificent piece of art. Looking at it, no one would be able to tell that there are so many pieces that fit together like a puzzle. It truly and realistically captures Progeria. Truly amazed by what has been shown in the minute of the sneak preview. The music has its own feel to it, it’s different not the familiar tune and it goes perfectly with what is being shown. It touches the heart. Seeing this makes one wish they could have been a part of such a project. The hard work you have mentioned by all is reflective and may the film do well and it will.
Regards and Love,
S
I read your blog on and off. Sometimes it is nice but most often…Man! you are so full of yourself !!
Not to mention Aishwarya, most annoying celebrity, laughs inappropriately and exhibits no maturity at all, in any/every interview. Her vocabulary is so limited and her accent is the most fake thing in the world !! She disses the host on every interview, Letterman, Oprah, Tyra, Rajeev Masand, etc…sore miserable woman ! She needs the media as much as they need her.
Abhishek is the best of the lot…more grounded.
Sir,
Iam writing for the 1st time on your Blog
Sir iam a big fan of your and Abhishek..and i treat you as a mentor and a guide..
Wish you all the luck and best wishes for all your future projects ..and please take good care of your health

Hello Sir ,
well you thrilled us and I’m sure I’m not the only one expecting the 4 .12 to see you show us the light again and again ….
God bless you Sir and your family
Excellent !!! the promo for PAA was just wonderful. words cannot express much more. Eagerly awaiting the release of this groundbreaking movie.
Hi Mr. Bachchan!
I dont have words to describe your acting on viewing the promos of Paa. Absolutely awesome, awesome, awesome. I think after the film Black, this is going to be your next most memorable performance. Hats off to you Sir. Can very well imagine how you must have felt to do that make up and then to remove it. And to that the entire night for the early morning shot, Sir you are great. Have been watching your movies since the days of Muqaddar ka Sikandar and Don. Till today you fascinate me with your acting. Am eagerly waiting for 4th December now.

OMG Is that you ? Gosh really is that you??… it has been a couple of hours aur yahan pe bawaal machaa hai ke who is that … as I said earlier in Colorado there is less Indian exposure so we don’t get to see these promos and all so when I saw this pic – I cut the top and bottom of it and send to all Indians I know over here – asking guess who this is …( some of them who know me well just took a shot at it - ke agar meh koi picture bhej rahi hu to woh either my kids ka hai ya toh aap ka…) but could not guess still!! . they forwarded it on to others out of the state and all … and gosh there is a flood of emails .. Wondering who it is and at the same time telling people what this picture is about …you should see what all people are contemplating …. No one has the clue this is the BIG B !! By the end of the day , if no one can guessed then I will send in the whole poster!! Wow I can’t wait to see the film … Aladin Dallas meh ayi hai yahan nahi ….. Oh please Paa ka distribution Colorado meh zarooor karna ….. I bet you it will be a huge success…
Jeeyo and good luck. U R The Best and will always be !!

wonderful work..this small clipping shows how dedicatlly u hav done ur work..i just want 2 say all the best for this blockbuster of the year!!
Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
I am short of words to describe my feeling when I saw the poster and the promo for “Paa” …
I have tears in my eyes because I am touched and because I am happy for you : )
It is undoubtably a masterpiece - the result of talent and labor of love by you and all the others involved in creating this film.
What you wrote in this entry about the making of “Paa” made me remember all you shared with us on this blog step by step while shooting this film. So much was involved of hardship ‘just bear’… It is simply unbelievable !
We are privileged to know about all these details from the artist himself.. It gives a very special dimension to a perception of the film.. I can not wait to see it !
Whenever it happens for me… Yet again it might be impossible for me to see it in the theater, but when I purchase a DVD and see the new film for the first time just by myself at home - it is a very special experience too…
May be this time I should go to the theaters here and demand them to get it and screen it ? : )
I wonder if something like that would work ? : )
*
I also visited the official website again and I would like to highly complement on how Abhishek looks on stills and posters and Vidya and of course you! It is you !! Though hard to believe it !
But I think the fact that it is exactly you who in inside this character makes Auro so endearing and the film so warm …
Eagerly waiting for the songs and music by Illairaja and to hear you singing …
*
I already love this film and I think it was a genius idea to create it !
My best wishes for its success and for it to be awarded and appreciated by the audience worldwide.
May God bless you, your family and all.
My love and prayers.

Hi,
I dont believe this..how wonderfully the make up artists have created a character as Auro and how could they visualise that they could do it on you !! It’s so difficult, yet so much rewarding.I realised from your post how trying were the hours ! Looking forward to PAA and wish you all the best.love as ever,
Hiranmayee
Excellence is a journey and not a destination - you keep proving it !!! Let’s hope Auro is in line to that …… What’s happening to ‘ Teen Patti ‘ ??? Quite honestly , we are await an out and out commercial comedy types from you . Something like the Namak Halal types ! what say ? Possible ??? Let’s do it ..
This is the first time i am writing on your blog after knowing through about your blog through a Barkha Dutt interview.
I believe that by not promoting and advertising about your blog in media you are somehow hiding and making your fans deprived of such a lovely way of communicating and knowing you better.
I would appreciate if you can make more and more people aware of your blog.
India is a country where people like you, Sachin Tendulakar are termed as GOD.
One of the better idea to promote this can be to accommodate this in your forthcoming movie PAA.
I have seen the movie trailer and i just loved it…………
Dear Amit Ji,
Once again, I am sharing my feelings after seeing your promo. My God …this character I know will create magic the way you did in Black. Auro is adorable.so cute. I can see the naughtiness in the promo itself. Unbelievable. I know this would be Abhishek’s one of the best role.
I just have one line for Auro.
“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
Simple Awesome! Thanks for sharing such valuable thoughts with us… I sincerely hope that this would be a benchmark film in all respects. good luck!
Hi Paji, My name is Niku, i am from the Uk (sardar)I just wanted to say, that as you have got older, your performances have gone up another level, i am not saying that you wasn’t good in the earlier years ,but i just thought i ‘d mention it. I know bollywood is punjabi mad at this time, but its been a long time coming, us punjabi’s are relishing the fact that every bollywood flick as something punjabi in it.I know Its probably seems unfair for the rest of india, but hey, Jaan Punjbi are always have adifferent as you well know Amit paji. Thank you for reading.

Seen ur daughter-in-law endorsing paa in her recent appearance.Plz convey this to her.don’t giggle like a dump blonde in the press conference. I don’t remember an interview where she didn’t giggles without reason. she should learn from you to do it dignifyingly on a press meet.

Hi Mr. Bachchan,
First, yet another feat of imagination - saw both paa and aladin promos over the past few months - great achievements of indian cinema.
Happy Birthday Nov 1 Ash - light of our lives!!
Thank Suri for posting the locations of theatres showing aladin -
Mr. B, you really need to look into the distributors for your movies in this huge Indophile state.
Some sorry little theatre called Capitol Theatre in Arlinton, Mass has som edude renting it for shows - Aladin came and went last weekend. When I called and asked why no publicity on their regular website - a rude and disdainful female employee barely contained her contempt and said that some dued from Bombay Cinema rents some space - (but hey, they charge him just fine for it). When I asked if they had anything against advertising Indian Cinema on there website or directing afficianados to the correct site since the entire greater boston area has a huge Indian movie following - another curt response - then she gasp - hung up.
http://www.somervilletheatreonline.com/capitol/index.php, owner some lady called Jamie, contact number included.
Here is the website, both cinemas owned by Frieman Enterprises. Other Mass location (that is like traveling to Vashi, when most of the people are located in Colaba) - the the Westborough theatre in the boondocks….
I think Indos and Indian-cinema philes in Boston deserve better and willing to shell out for better more respectful venues….
Love and keep up the health - no repeat injuries,
S
Dear Mr. Amitabh Bachchan,
I am totally floored by the website of Paa. Everything on there smells like an award winning film with great award winning performances. I have never replied to any blog before, never had any interaction with any celebrity, but after watching this I felt I need to tell you that I am really looking fwd to this movie as all my friends are. I will surely give a feedback when I see the movie, although im sure u wont need it. It will be nice as always….
All the best
Sonali
Dear Amitji,
Wow..Mindblowing! You certainly went through a gruelling task with all the make up etc.. I think I would suffocate, I am claustrophobic. Hats off to you - you ARE
the best actor ever and would most definately be a VERY HARD ACT to follow.
So PAA is not similar to or a remake of Jack with Robin Williams???
Back from the ceremony and busy with arrangements for the Sukhmaniji Path
at the Gurudwara tomorrow morning for blessings for our son and our anniversary this week (a very special anniversary).
Good night and God Bless
Love and Best Wishes

Heartiest congratulations Sir. The film and you look incredible. Its inspiring to all who read your blog the sincerity with which you approach each and every task at hand. I definitely get motivated to work with all my heart after reading all the tasks that you achieve in a day and still never complain and do it for the love you have for your profession.
I have to admit that I don’t follow your blog on a regular basis but I do visit every now and then, looking for some inspiration and you never disappoint me. I work at a research lab and on days that experiments don’t work or days when entire year worth of work goes out of the window because some one else was smarter, quicker than you to publish I do need a lot of boost to get back to work the next day. Thanks for being that friend, elderly person to whom I can run to, to get some comforting words. I find them somehow in your writings about your work, your struggle, love for family and most in your honesty.
Now as far as “Paa” is concerned, its funny you said it in your post too but the music does have a thing about it, it makes you all emotional and ready to cry! that was my reaction when I saw the first look today morning on TV. Thats when I decided that I will write for sure today on your blog, to let you know how I was moved with the promo.
So even though I have read your blog on numerous occasions before never before was I so compelled to write (not even to wish you on your birthday which by the way we share…. so sorry about that!) but today I thought it would be criminal not to congratulate you for this achievement. To be able generate such a response in so many people in a 30 sec promo is quite something.
Congratulations again.
With Regards,
Preeti
Dear Amitji,
Your make up is just so awesome.. and the video looks very fresh and interesting.. I am sure that this movie is going to create a history…Gonna c this for sure…!!!

My Dear Mr Bachchan
Such an educational post. Thanks for explaining about progeria,I never heard about this disease,i think ‘PAA’ will bring on the awareness. Also,Thanks for sharing the poster.
I agree with you about the music of this film. When i visited paathefilm site,It was the first thing that caught my attention and i did mentioned it in one of my earlier comment….On hearing the music, it sent some kind of feeling through my whole being ,touching my soul.I just loved it.
I always knew movie making is no easy task.I also, remember during the making of ‘PAA’ how you would explain the prosthetics…etc.Well now it’s a finish product and again My Best wishes for the movie, To the Team and AB Corp….Good Luck!
Have a Good Night’s Rest.
May God always Bless and protect you, your wonderful family and all Dear FmXt
My sincere Love always…
Saroj
mr. bachhan
isn’t it some kind of shameful act to copy the story line of curious cas of benjamin button and jack(1960) and not giving credits to those films?
as far as u have explained about the film, it seems to be another bollywood copy of hollywood movie, and u feel proud in doing that in this period of life?
Your tribute to everyone involved in the making of PAA is a wonderful compliment acknowledging everyone’s love and commitment to the making of PAA. Despite being so busy during the hectic schedules, you still took time out to write to us and it feels like we have been through this arduous journey of putting make up on and taking it off and the long drawn out shooting schedules with you.
This project will touch the chord in everyone’s heart at that special time of the year when relationships are always a big talk and under scrutiny. Christmas sems to do this to all.
We can’t wait for the proper release. Thank you for sharing the poster which is just great!
Good Luck and Best Wishes

Hi
Its a great promo and an extra ordinary film I suppose. Whether it creates new box office records or not, but I am sure that this would remain in the minds of public memory for a long long long time. Many a times off beat films don’t get the response they deserve, but in this case I just wish and pray that you get what you deserve. The process of putting up the prosthetics and makeup seems more of a torture than anything, but on the other hand knowing you and the way you think, I am quite sure that while the makeup was being done you would have been engrossed thinking about the scenes that you were to enact later on, and for you, the thoughts, the challenge to get the upcoming scene perfect would have eroded the pain of going through the entire process. But, all said and done, the entire job, the creativity and the hard work is quite visible from the promo itself. Its hats off to you and the entire team.
take care and lots of love as always
Naresh Kapoor
Dear Amitji,
I am in awe to see your make up and the trailor shows that you have acted very nicely. It shows that each production of a movie takes a lot not just from the actors but also from makeup artists/ cameramen/ director and so on. producers are also involved in a vigorous process. Hope the efforts of all gets its due.
love
Ashesh

Dear Amitji,
I am not sure if you read all the comments sent your way, but I am writing to you as if I was talking to you. I have been a very big fan of yours ever since I was a little girl. My dad (now deceased) introduced me to your movies as he alsways enjoyed your movies and hence I was hooked. Believe you me you still mesmerize me.
I am sure you have heard of it before but you really have what it takes. I admire and appreciate your efforts in keeping the bollywood going. Its you who I would call a real “king of Bollywood” Not someone who came 10-12 years ago and did 20-30 movies. You have been there and proven with your endless countless performances that you are the real king.
In your hectic schedule you have strated this blog and share your love and feelings with your fans, I think its amazing.
My blessings and prayers for your health and long life.

Speechless and blurry eyed….
WoW!! This will be bigger than BLACK. And Black was outstanding. Great to see all these milestones and each one gets better and better. The time , energy and discomfort gone through for this role will be forgotten in the accolades you will get for it. Hope this does for special children what Black did for the hearing and speaking challenged.
Art with so much intricacy, beauty, experimentation and social cause! Amitji tussi great ho!

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
You’ve done it again and soon it will be for the zillions to see…
The very first looks indicate somewhere near ‘greatness’ or even more…
This ain’t the first time that you’ve gifted us with magical cine-art and hopes shall forever remain for more…
The vibes from the score, the appearance, the intro…. all of it just suggest of one word….’gigantic’!!! and ‘gigantic’ it shall be to those who appreciate performing arts, I am sure.
Can’t wait… More looks needed before the film hits the screen…
Wish you all the success and glory for the immense hard work that the you and the unit has put in to the project. This will be a classic I am sure… one, that cine-goers would fondly remember for ages to come! Godspeed…

Dear Lily,
I hope u dont miss this comment. I am sorry I could not write to you earlier. I was hoping to send u a personal mail, but didn’t have access to ur mail id.
As a pediatrician, I have lived through the pain and suffering of many parents with IUDs and early neonatal deaths. Words to console I know are never adequate and always fall short. When it happens to one of my dear friends whom I have grown to love so much, it is heartbreaking. I pray the two of you are gifted with a healthy bonny baby very soon, in whose love ur pain heals.
I saw a baby’s pic on ur FB profile. A beautiful angel…I am crushed, heavy hearted, and unable to stop crying. I wish the two of you all the happiness life has to offer.
God bless.
Love and prayers for baby Rishon Rico,
Aishwarya.

Dear Amitabhji,
It was really mind-blowing to hear about the efforts put in by you are the PAA team during the shooting of the film. The general perception about film making is as you said a “luxury”. Thanks for the detailed explanation.
Everyday what I hear from you makes your image higher and broader in my mind. You are more than a super-human. I am just awestruck to know how a 67 years old person can put in such laborious efforts and show such high levels of dedication & professionalism at work. May be what they say is true. When a person loves his work he can achieve things that are unimaginable.
Hard work and sincere efforts always pay back rich dividends. I guess all the strenuous effort the PAA team has put in will be appreciated by all.
Looking forward to PAA!
Wish you all good luck.Take care,

Vinayak

Hi Mr. Bachchan
I am in a state of ecstasy…very very happy to see the first poster of AURO !!!
Looking back it seemed a very distant reality that AB Corp would be able to come out from the state of bankruptcy & actually produce a movie. Its the sheer hard work, honesty & most important the belief that today you have proudly brought out the first look, the first trailer that too for the FmXt before the rest of the world.
Looking at the trailer & poster, the detailing is unimaginable…reading about the prosthetic that you have mentioned I recall everything that u mentioned in the blog about the makeup tests sitting on the dentist chair !! (that’s how u fooled us once!!).
All I can say is THANK YOU …
Paa is special & Auro is extra special…one feels like holding him !!
Take care
Love & regards
Anu Verma
My dearest Mr. Bachchan,
Visited the PAA site just now as I couldn’t get to it earlier. What can I and do I say? Auro seems to endear himself, and touch one’s heart instantly! And this, when one sees just a still picture of his! What is he going to do to the viewer, when they see him come to life and prance around? My stomach is in knots even as I write to you just now….saw a teaser last night on Times Now…a very brief one. When I saw the pictures on the site just now, all the prior information which you’ve been sharing with us for months now, regarding what all transpired during the making of this film and all the perseverence, nothing short of torture I would say, that went into the process and the prosthetics, just seemed to vanish into thin air…Auro was all consuming, quite by himself! Probably for the first time, I find myself so involved in a film prior to it’s release! I have a gut feeling that this is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all of you and for the viewers as well! With due respect, BLACK seems very elementry now, as compared to what PAA even just promises to be!
May it fare brilliantly and shatter all previous records, of success of films at the box-office!
With much love always,
Kashmira

Dear Sir,
The promo is a masterpiece.I could have never imagined that such a concept could have ever pulled off.
When i first got to know of it 5-6 months back i was taken aback.Partly because i did not believed that a man of yor age age could get his face transformed to that of a boy.Never had doubts about your acting skills but had in terms of makeup precision required.
I must say that makeup artist should get the due credit for his outstanding work.
As far as acting like a boy is concerned i have never had slightest of doubt when you’re in a picture.
You as a person have immense talent that can potray any character with equal zeal and respect.
It will just go onto add another feather in your cap.
The manner in which the boy was dancing in the rain is beautifully captured and enacted as well.
It’s something that is comendable and i had tears when i saw him dancing with Vidya.I could feel and see his happiness and at the same time could see what he would have to bear. The pain of being ousted in school because of his appearence and the feeling of embarrasment all that was there in Auro’s face.
I sincerely thank you for having the courage to take a decision of essaying such an ardous role.
It’s not easy to do a thing rejected by most.
It needs vigour and self belief.
I am sure that the film will do wonders and make us see acting skills par excellence’.
Cant wait to see.
May god bless this movie with success or lemme just say that let hard work get appreciated.
Rest all will fall in place.
Love as ever and always
Rohit

Dear Amitji,
I joined Bigadda today, only to comment on the picture of “PAA”. I would like to tell you and everybody who reads this blog that you are truly an inspiration of hard work and dedication. Not only for people in film ferternity but also for any human being. Going through such make-ups and baring all the pains even today is indeed admirable and shows how passionate you are towards your work.
People often talk about the luxuries that film stars enjoy and hardly think about the hard work that goes behind it. I am desperately waiting for this movie that realises the literal meaning of the saying that “Child is the father of the man”:). I am so exited to see Abhhisek playing your father.
May god bless us with decades of entertainment and inspiration from Mr. bachchan. I wish all the very best to the cast and crew of “PAA”
i am SALUTE to u Big Boss,PAA absolutely diamond movie,,,,,God bless u
Dear Mr Bachchan
I really have no wordsto express my feelings and regards for you.
I am absolutely sure that this film is going to be the mother of all hit films of Bollywood.
You are a super human in the truest sense with God’s best blessings.
We all should take your example in our personal lives.
May God bless you with many more successes and a long, healthy life.

Hello Sir,
I am sorry to leave the comment off the topic, but I want to tell you one thing that i am the biggest fan of your son Abhishek and so would like to request you that why cant we make a film on “The on going global recession” starring your son Abhishek to play a lead role of U.S. President Barack Obama.I am saying this because:
1:This will help the young generation of ours to have better understanding of Economics,so they would acquire some knowledge. For eg Wht is GDP?,4 Business Cycles and so on
2:Big Budget,In depth Research & Personality of Abhishek would surely enhance this movie further.
3:So what I am trying to tell you is this movie to be made in English, where Abhishek will play the role of Current US President Barack Obama and climax should be something where Abhishek fixes the economy by keeping USA in mind,as it is the most powerful nation on the world (economically)
4:We can also go for sequel!
5:If no sequel movie should not be less then 3 hours (movie duration) to do justice to the project,no songs plz!
6:I do have a bit knowledge about how in real the crisis took place from the research which I did it in my freetime.so if this project gets green signal then do let me know i would be more then happy to give some of my inputs.Pick the best director for the movie we have in the business or a team of it.
USP’s of movie:
1:Different genre movie, not entertainment but knowledge + entertainment. As it is based on real life.
2:Give lot of time to this project, may be 18 months and shoot the movie in different countries, get the bestout of Abhishek Keep your faith in him.
3:This will give Abhishek a platform at the international level just like ash as project will have a globe appeal mainly because of the subject
4:2 years from now,1 billion people (india)will witness Abhishek collecting his best actor award!
Regards
Siddharth

Sir,
Watched first promo of Paa and Abhishek’s interview on Times Now last night. It was difficult for me to see you as ‘the child’ shown in movie. My mind and heart still not accepting that. I respect all the labour that might have gone in this movie and I hope that the movie becomes a great success.I wish that your acting would get due credit in the film critic’s world and the film gets big commercial success.
Abhishek was wonderful in the interview. He has achieved some charishma which may be in genes. Actually after watching the promo of paa I am waiting to watch for his performance (more than yours) which is getting better by the day.
regards,
Anand

Post no. 3: Time to prepare..and think!
Dear Amit ji,
It is amazing to not the meticulous planning and preparation for each shot in Paa. To have gone thorugh the grind day after day is itself commendable jsut for the effort. And going by the promo..this effort does show. Congrats to everyone involved in general and to you in particular for having looked the part.
Although it must have been really tiring sitting still while the make-up was been done however it must have been nice to have so much time with yourself! Time to think the day over and plan for the one to come. Considering your schedule I am sure such things are a luxury you don’t get too often.
You mention about how this is a big thing for ABCL and I am reminded about the strength of character that you have shown and it this quality that makes Amitabh Bachan what he is.Makes one wonder if you had this quality since childhood, maybe yes, however what would have contributed to hone this ability are the kind of characters you played. I am reminded of the character you played in the movie “Shanti” whose confidence to take risks stems from the fact that he had come empty handed in the city and he is happy even if he is to return that way. Offcourse since it was a film things had to be too dramatic and thankfully real life is a little bit better.
Comign back to Paa, I believe here is a nice story and and if the actors, music and screenplay can do justice to it you surely have a winner at hand.
Here’s wishing all the best to you, Balki, Abhishek and ABCL.
regards
Devesh
Sir,
I am 23 and a student.i have a dream,to see myself graduate and am living this dream despite the tough major i’ev choosen.
But in this short lifespan,to say what have i learned can be summerised into this “honest hardwork never goes in vein”…and your work is nothing but inspires me.
And just from a student to a fellow student “auro”-best of luck.
Abhi
Dear Amitji,
I was totally stunned to see your promo. I never-ever have even in my wildest dream that you can have this look in any film. In addition to that you have played son of your son. Its truely unbelieveable film…….it will be a All-time blockbuster film……with one of the finest performance that had ever seen on India cinema by noone other than Amitabh Bachaan.
I salute you from bottom of my heart.
Sachin
Respected Sir,
I never login your blog before. I really admire your idea to share your thoughts through the blog to the common people and getting feedback from them. Is it possible that you could write your blog in Hindi so that many of your followers can read it and respond to you ? The average people of India follow Hindi and they grew up wathcing your movie in Hindi. I agree that you should write colom but again it would be nice if you could write for the Hindi News papers.
Whenever I see the Hindi Film’s award ceremony, they always used to be in English language. I don’t know Why? Why actors and acctress are giving their speeches in English during the ceremony?. Why they feel shame talking in Hindi. Their fame, name and money comes through the Hinid movie. How many people want to see their actors and acctress in English movie? Perheps very few. Perhaps Shri Harivanshrai Bachchan could not have so famous if he wirtes his poem in English.
I am really look forward to see Pa..
Regards,
Shirish
Paa looks promising.
Promo is amazing. Your makeup is awesome.
The expectations are really high from this one.
Hope the movie meets expectation.
Paa loks like a Sure shot Winner !!
All the Best to you and Your entire team at ABCL !!

loads n loads of luv sir, take care , allah hafiz
this is unbelievable. the film industry just proves everytime that nothing is impossible. rightly said no good thing comes easily. i hope all your hard work in wearing the make up and becoming a 13 yr old again pays… it will surely pay if u have a good story line as a back bone. i am sure your co-stars will also be fantastic… ilayaraja is magic in the form of human and am sure he would have done a great job as well …
i always adore you and will continue to …
best of luck for everything …
you are a true inspiration ..
Dear uncle,
Good Evening! How are you? I got 39.5 marks out of 40 in Science because of my teacher’s mistake.I wrote and copied an incorrect definition in my copy but isn’t it the duty of a teacher to correct the mistakes of a student? I wrote that answer in the exam and my marks were cut.Oh sorry.I was just a little bit frustated.Rocksport Adventure Activities have been organised in my school on 11th November as it is children’s day on 14th November, birthday of Chacha Nehru. The Paa promo is indeed emotional. From today I start writing my diary regularly. No breaks.Bye.
Your loving EF,
Amitash Degan,

Dear Amitji, Good Evening. Yesterdays post was early and reply also went early so from today morning feeling that there is no post. Emptiness because the Box of Paa has been emptied by you. Nice to see you 13 years old and as child sensation. The promos of Paa are everywhere and initial expectations of people are very positive. So the multiplier effect can be expected and you can rest assured time machine has started for you in reverse gear.
Have a busy time once again with the Media and it will be a sure success of a film. Good efforts will bear fruits and also imagination of Balki will be appreciated. The best reward for labour is in appreciation from those whose life is depicted in the film.
Son becomes father after a while when he takes over all responsibilities. Father again becomes a son when all his responsibilities are shouldered by his grown up son. The second childhood thus begins for a man in his old age. Here the Paa factor will also focus how you can now enjoy your second childhood with Abhishek taking over from you. The satisfaction of reel life and real life also coincides with release of Paa.
Have a wonderful day and listen to what people think about you as an actor. There are more milestones in store for you as long as you walk ahead with times. My regards to those who put all life’s experience in the moment of present work on hand. Like what you did for Paa. Patience perseverence tolerence and accepting suffering makes a performance Historic. May you create History with Auro in Paa. There is life beyond commerce and that will be realised after Paa.
Ravi P Malhotra
Namaskar Amithji! How r u? I am from Andhra Pradesh teaching in a Govt. college. Amiiithji, recently our state AP is hit with severe floods. We are not lucky to have at least a word of sympathy from our, I stress ‘our’ because u belong to all Indians we feel, Amitabhji, not to speak of monetary help to the victims. We are a little disappointed. We expected u to respond. Good night

Dear Sir,

Dear Sir
There is a fan of yours from delhi, SIR.
I dont know why but when I watched “BLACK”,
especially the scene where the poor girl pronounces “WATER” for the very first time, my eyes were poured with tears…
Then comes “VIRUDH” the scene where you bow down and ask Mr. Sanjay Dutt for a weapon,
and NOW, the trailer of “PAA” shows
the JOY of ailing kid, the hidden misery of his PARENTS, their emotional support to their son…
after watching all these magnificent works of yours….
I feel like meeting you, SIR.
It would be one of the most memorable moment of my life, when i get to touch your feet and seek your blessings, SIR.
long live the legend !!!
looking forward for your reply mail….
Regards
