Prateeksha, Mumbai                           November 3, 2009                          Tue 11 : 56 PM

Tomorrow evening at 5 PM , Abhishek shall go to Cinemax to unveil the first look of ‘PAA’. The promo shall be shown for the first time on 5th and it shall officially be given to the channels for broadcast on the 6th. But for my dearest FmXt the promo shall be on your blog on 5th. Just something special for our extended family.

I am overwhelmed by the responses that the promo for PAA generates. Abhishek showed it to some of the trade - Taran Adarsh, Komal Nahata, NDTv, Tarun of Dostana director fame and some others. Their words echo through me and on to you -

“Amitji you are absolutely unbelievable … fantastic promo. Its most touching. Cant wait for the movie.”

“Sir, saw teaser of Paa nd lovd it. Its awesome ..”

“Dear Amitji, Abhishek, Vidya and Balki .. i just saw the trailor of Paa .. i am numbed.the visuals are exquisite and enchanting. truly something that transcends cinema.”

“Dear Sir, just saw the promo of paa … Can’t tell you how amazing you are .. Am not a parent but in that 1 min you made me feel so many emotions for a child. Your body language, the way you spoke and the freedom with which you jumped in the rain made me wanna be a child again … i know you’ve heard heard this a million times but you are truly truly the finest actor ever .. In the entire world. I really wish I can one day, write a film worthy enough of having you in it - I hope I don’t sound out of line when I say - love you Sir ! -”

“Paylagoo boss, Sirf ye keh sakta hu ki muze khud par naaz hai ki mai aapko janta hu aur aap muze. paa ka promo dekha. aankhe bhar aayee.ur da best boss, one and only. salute.”

And life moves on. But I have to admit that it moves on with great hope and quicker anticipation of time moving rapidly forward, when the encouragement that comes your way, comes in the shape and size of what has just been elaborated above. Is it not strange then that this happens; that there is a physicality to it, that there is a desire for time to reach the moment of desire at the snap of a finger, Genius like. We demand life to be the way we would want it - instantaneous and immediate. Need something … snap … and there it is. But life is not Aladin it is a billion times more.

For this particular feel that engulfs me for the moment, I wish that we reach the 4th of December tomorrow. We have worked at the product that shall come up for exhibition with hard and earnest work. How we wish that the time taken to bring it to its final form be controlled by us through some element of magic. The wait is killing. After enacting a scene and finding it of a quality that pleases most, one wants to quickly be put into a completed product to be shown to audiences. This is never so unless one is doing theatre. The reaction there is immediate and spontaneous. But for film that takes days and days to master it into its final structure, it does create anxiety and uncertainty on what the final produce will look and behave like. Whether people shall appreciate it or will they reject it outright on release and on. The anticipation of wanting to know what the others want to know, is an exercise that drains us most. We complete a film months before; well sometimes years before and wait and wait and wait for it to be in its final stage and for it to be presented.

Somewhere within us, we relish the thought of praise and adulation. A praise that translates into very complimentary expression. We may at times remain modest in its acknowledgement but it has got nothing to take away from what the others think are the high points of film making.

I walked into the dubbing theatre this morning and asserted my situation with the production. I told them I was not moving from here till I finish the entire dubbing of the film. So if they had any lunch engagements it would be reasonably prudent to cancel them. And that is what I achieved. I finished the entire film by around 2 pm and a sense of satisfaction greeted both Abhishek and me. He having been at the dub since early morning.

Now as we prepare for the release and the publicity, we wish things would move faster. A most natural phenomena. But just as all things in life, dwell within us, this too shall dwell and take its designated time to appear. What is to be expected ? What are their reactions to the work done ? All and many more such, shall be put across to us in the days to come.

Among the anxiety and stress of the film on release, comes the other added job of its management to that day. There is never a fool proof solution to the various encumbrances one faces for a film on release. And most in the trade, knowing the vulnerability of a producer during the last few days, put up pressure in order that they may succumb to their demands. Many do. But it was then probably the last thing to do where we as a production house were concerned. We have produced this film jointly with Reliance and so this makes us join hands in our effort to work all facets out and ensure a successful film.

It is important in life to see a face, a face that shall take responsibility of execution, ensure that work move ahead slowly but gradually. A mean task I admit and one that always falls under the bracket of ‘part of business’. But film making is not all always business. You have to see yourself as an artist, a maker and then trouble him if you wish for the errors.

I generally find myself away from all these encumbrances. Simply because I am an artist, hired to play act in certain given circumstances. Loading me with all other avenues in production has never been exciting for me and does push me to be aloof. At times we bear the wrath of non involvement. But that we all know is unfair.

In the case of PAA, this does not apply. It is an AB Corp production and is a prestigious venture. Checking personally if colleagues and co artists are of level comfort, that monitoring of procedures in finance and production is well maintained and managed, all become part of our family job.

I think we set out to make this film with certain definite plans. It would not be a penny over the 15 cr budget we had decided upon ; indeed it is nominally better than that - its 14.75 cr. In todays working conditions, the film budgets have been soaring to incredible highs. 50 - 60 crore finances for film is a most modest amount that producers project. It is a known fact but one that gets easily clouded in media hype and promotion, that a film of  such high budget dimension, needs to do twice and more in returns at gross box office, in order to get a net benefit to bring home. A 60 crore film would be required to do a gross twice the amount if not more. Print and publicity add on extras and by the end of the day the film must perforce do close to 150 crore rupees in order to break even and make money. Does the market have the capacity for such returns ? Good question !!

Money matters are mundane and irritating, but sometimes it is comfortable to face reality. Many a figure and perception gets manufactured in a manner to express success or failure. Fact is, very little is known on actuals. Some results if probed deeper would present a shocking revelation.

On occasion I have tried to put forward certain harsh facts. But have been slapped into submission because perception ruled beyond fact. I shall refrain from doing so again. It is too painful to put forward material that would destroy committed mind sets of those that live in admiration and happy cheer. And I come back to a topic that many feel I obsess mindlessly.

The joy of projecting accusation on those that are perceived big and important, is far far greater than the minuscule reprieve that follows when the projection eventually negates on the basis of fact.

I say … let the system prevail .. let perception be not destroyed, for, even for perception to prevail it must have required a huge toil. Rather respect the toil, than its probable misuse.

Idealism does exist, but seldom prevails ..

    Dear Amitji

Despite the immense challenges that we have faced and continue to face, we refuse to indulge in negativity or pessimism. We are an organization that believes in empowering people to be their best.

I will end today by by referring to what Hellen Keller said,

If I regarded my life from the point of view of the pessimist, I should be undone. I should seek in vain for the light that does not visit my eyes and the music that does not ring in my ears. I should beg night and day and never be satisfied. I should sit apart in awful solitude, a prey to fear and despair. But since I consider it a duty to myself and to others to be happy, I escape a misery worse than any physical deprivation

Thank u for the yellow line…I got it after u got upset with me..thank you for accepting me back on the blog…it really gives me the satisfaction to be connected with u…I really miss my family..My son’s birthday is on the 7th Nov, the day you joined cinema life…I will not be present for his birthday..hmmm sad!

    Namaste Babumousi,
This is Ashish agarwal from your very own City of Joy.You are the real “Shahenshah” of the Indian Cinema and the true “DON” of our heart beats, It really amazes me which all the “Agneepath” and “Raaste Kaa Patthar” you have face in your life but still you are “Muqaddar Ka Sikandar”.No matter where we go from “Bombay to Goa” we all love U, aur mein “Ganga Ki Saugandh” leke kar telling U that i have seen all your movies.
“Kabhi Kabhie” “Chhoti Si Baat” “Do Anjaane” ki “Manzil” “Ek Rishtaa” mein badal deti hain, like yours and indian cinema.
No matter if there is only “Saat Hindustani” in any country we still remember about your “Pyar Ki Kahani” with Jaya Ji in “Guddi” “Abhimaan”. It is famously said that one needs only 3 things in life “Roti Kapda Aur Makaan” but world without you is like “Benaam”.I also admire the “Kasauti” which you have kept in your “Dost” when we have such a “Andha Kanoon”, you are truly “Aaj Ka Arjun” who have his “Zameer” intact.

  4. PB a fan in Texas says:

For anyone who lives in or near Austin, Texas, I just called Tinseltown south again
(512 – 326 – 4408) and found out that Aladin will be coming to this theatre this coming Friday and Saturday (Nov 6 and 7); the manager told me there were going to be two shows on those nights at 9:45.

I talked to him at length about the fact that this was a movie popular with children and that people would be wanting to come with their families and that therefore there should be several afternoon or early evening show times. If anyone from Austin reads this, I would suggest that you call and make a similar suggestion. I think by the time we finished talking he realized that earlier show times would not only be more customer friendly but would also result in better sales for his business.

I am so looking forward to my first time seeing Mr. Bachchan on the big screen!

Love and regards to one and all,

    Phyllis

Former president Bill Clinton said Monday that, without term limits, he would have stayed in the job “until I was carried away in a coffin, or defeated in an election.”

“I loved doing the job,” Clinton said at a conference in Istanbul. ”

This shows how some people keep on doing what they have been doing for years: it’s not about greed, its about passion! This breed is very rare and commonly known as ‘Extraordinary’; we have one such rare breed in India as well. Guess who!

Always pleasure to hear that you keep the tradition of your parents going is good reason to keep faith of parents intact. One can feel solace in following parent’s traditions after they have gone from this world. It may be belief in God for morals, belief in Country for laws or belief in self for conscience. I think whatever belief we have is what it gives us the strength to move on and face it with life realities! I always think that Life itself sounds very interesting with different scenarios and see it in every step of my way ~ ~ ~. I simply keep wondering what comes next…

Thank you for your reply for my comments yesterday regarding the opportunity to view Aladin online via a link. Good that maybe you were aware of this and have advised the distributors and authorities accordingly.

We all have debating with much anticipation the film Paa. We all talk of it amongst each other, our family and friends. It’s difficult also that very little is known other than what has been mentioned here and by you personally. We therefore wait for the publicity and furore that will no doubt surround the enterprise. You should be proud to have embarked on such a unique story and concept.

  34. Neel says:

No doubt about it, I think PAA will definitely achieve a lot of accomplishments. The role played by you is definitely a first for Indian cinema. I also think that this movie will be the first massive hit for AB Corp has produced simply because of the low-budget and careful planning that went into the film. The critics will also be on board to shower praise on the film as this is exactly the kind of film that gets acclaimed by them. There might be the obvious comparison to Robin Williams’ JACK, a movie that seems similar in content on paper. But if PAA is truly different from JACK, the comparisons should vanish quickly. All in all, PAA is a sure fire winner in every way.

I HOPE YOUR RETURN IS TEN FOLD. CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE PROMO ON THE 5TH.

  43. Joshua David - Glasgow says:

    Dearest Amit ji,

Thank you so very much for replying to my as well as so many of our family members comments…

Amit ji i have a confession to make :-

I have still not seen Aladin, reason being that my wife n daughter join me on thursday , and thats after a year of seperation, and i want Aladin to be their first movie in this country and hense the delay, i am sorry, or else its always a first day first show..

Budgetes for film are now in crores… There was a time when we spoke of lakhs. Even in films if a ransom was asked or a price was quoted for any task or if a bank was robed it was always in lakhs, now times have changed and no one talks of lakhs its only crores….

How do u perceive such changes? Is it justified Amit ji.. Especially when the audience is the same. Its only time that has changed..

    Looking forward to Paa…

    Luv n respects

    Joshua D

Sirji…gone through the whole post and realize how much effort and tight budget this ‘PAA’ is. I wish a great success to this movie. AS I told yesterday that you have pumped enough curiosity among we fmxt so that its become unbearable. Awaiting anxiously for 5th Oct to see promo.

    With love and warm regards,

    Dearest Mr B,
Now you’ve got me waiting with anticipation too.. Eagerly awaiting Paa’s release. The fact that Jr AB is also with you in the movie is an added bonus. Will most definitely watch it and have made plans to take a few of my American friends too..
Hope the rest of the month is easy on you and you get to spend a lot of quality time with your family.
I have also posted this question a few times before, I wanted to know the anticipated release time of the Hanuman Chalisa that you were supposed to record.. Did it ever get finalised or is it post poned for the time being??
Take care & look fwd to all your new movies..
    All my love as always,

All these posts on Paa are most welcome and one can definitely sense anticipation going up for this film in all quarters. And whatever we’ve witnessed so far leaves a lasting impression in the mind. Wonder if you could enlighten us on the final length of the film? All the best with the film moving forward.

Glad you made that point about the financial side of things. of course the media and the trade pretend to be blind to all this. On Paa the film at 15 crores is as a technicality ‘unfloppable’ though one hopes it registers a very significant gross.

Thank you, Dear Sir, for the promise of showing “PAA” promo to us on November 5th…cannot wait! You are very kind…and we all love you very much…believe me when I tell you that we will all be going to see “PAA” when it is released…I will probably be renting another car and driving somewhere, again, it’s not much, I know, but it’s the only way I can ‘impact’ your life or the success of your films…and even though it isn’t much, every little bit helps…
and I will do my ‘every little bit’…we all will… Love you.

  51. Vinita S, in UK says:

    Dear AB

The more i read about Paa it convinces me that it will be best performance of yours till date :) All the best to you & AB Corp for its release. Hope all your hardwork shows good and positive results.

I agree with you when u say money matters are irritating and mundane, but then you realise that without it you cannot live in today’s world and sometimes it decreases your value and importance if you don’t have the financial backing, that hurt’s a lot :( What i hate most is people giving importance to money over relationships and measuring everything in monetary terms. How is wish i could change those people’s thinking, but all i can do is pray that god gives them some sense.

    love u loads

  52. Ashesh Dave says:

    Dear Amitji,
How are you- congrats to you and Abhishek, Vidya and Balki- for making such a great movie- for putting such a great thought into production and taking all the added efforts to make a film. As you mention, usually you do not have to go thru’ all the finances of a iflm, responsibility of watching the budgets of the movie etc. We wish and pray for a huge success for the movie, both commercially and also critically. Good luck for all the promos and publicity.
    love
    Ashesh

  53. Daisy M says:

    Dearest Mr Bachchan

Idealism DOES exist, and you personify it. You.. your artistry.. your humanity are my ideal and you SHALL prevail!

I do so understand your longing for life just to magically fast forward - at the Genie’s secret command - to December 4th. Why even us humble spectators are so impatient that this date seems an eternity away. How much more anguish must accompany the wait when you have invested so much of your heart and soul… your life and your physical and creative energy… into the project.

I long for the day to arrive in the most fervent that all your hopes - and ours - will be realised when the film finds a reception that is beyond even our wildest dreams.. and a unique place in the hearts of audiences.

Meanwhile, just the wait till NOVEMBER 5th and The Promo feels like almost unbearable suspense…

With all my love and fondest hopes, Daisy

  63. Lakshmi Jag says:

    Dear Mr. Bachchan

Perception prevails probably because the circumstances surrounding the person enabling the perception is stronger than the facts. For example, a saying in Telugu says, a person sitting under a palm tree drinking water is perceived to be drinking palm wine, no matter how loud the person sitting under the tree proclaims it is not so. In modern terms, when a person sits in a bar, with a person drinking liquor, the perception he/she is drinking alcohol will prevail over facts. If the non drinker wants to sit at the bar because of strong convictions, then that person should be prepared to face the perceptions, and develop an attitude, as you stated, wonder and appreciate the toil. Moreover, it is easier to throw stones at tall statues than small insignificant ones….so take pride that you are the tall statue enabling people to throw stones and wrong perceptions. As I always say, easier said than done….

It is the harsh reality, and that is the reason why my favorite quote is one of Benjamin Disraeli’s which is “My idea of an agreeable person is a person who agrees with me”. We all want to be accepted, and believed but we cannot please everybody. Have a great night and may tomorrow be bright, beautiful and filled with people with the right perception.

    Lakshmi

Hope you won’t mind…I’m sure that you won’t…In a round about way, this is still a poem for you…kinda…

“SRINIVAS, USA” by a fellow EF

I’m sorry this is all I have to offer you ~
Dear Srinivas, who’s read from Day One…
An amazing feat of devotion, my Friend ~
Something very few others have done!

I wish I could make you feel better ~
If I could give a ‘Gold Line’ to you, I WOULD!
But I only have my silly poems and silly rhymes ~
And unfortunately, that’s just not as good.

    TAAAAA DAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

Srinivas, please don’t be sad anymore…Look at it THIS way:
HE knows YOUR name! HE reads YOUR words everyday! If you walked up to Him on the street, and introduced yourself, He would know who you are…
Pretty awesome, huh??? Yeah baby! You are special to Him, with or without that yellow line…and someday, you’ll get one…I know you will…just hang in there… pretend with me here:

    AB: Love to you, Srinivas…

Now, go get a yellow marker and highlight it…hope that made you laugh…
VA: Seriously, sending my love to you…

I don’t having any complain. I know my sincere affection and moreover connecting to you is more important.

  71. DEVKISHIN VYAS says:

Paa has generated lot of excitement here on this blog as well as in trade circles . Hope it will sustain the viewer’s interest. The main expectation from any movie is always”’paisa vasool”
It is imperative to promote ‘paa’ effectively in India as well as abroad as the storyline appears to be unconventional and offbeat.
Wishing ”Paa” all success IN INDIA AND OVERSEAS

Back again Sir.. Really happy to read the comments.. Looking forward for PAA… Hope your shoulder is not troubling you and everything else is under control.. Saw some post by junior b in twitter to Ppl related to the industry and there replies too.. Is it truely him or is it fake?? The replies seems to be genuine now 4 they are similar to the ones you have posted..what lovely gift as the year ends.. 2 totally different movies.. If you were a critics i want to understand how much points would you have given to the last lyier by Rituparoo Ghosh, chinikum, nirshabd and Paa out of 10.. Just a general question.. I would also like to ask you if you were to judge all your movies and select 3 best and 3 worst what would they be. In case if you reply then plz no politically correct answers rather i would then prefer a no answer.. Did i ask too many questions.. My last question to you.. How does it feel when so many different type of ppl literally worships you.. Across the world.. You will probably to God to the 2050 generation.. How does it feel? Good yes great i understand and sometimes irritating too but other then this.. If you have to just stand of a mirror and tell yourself about your feelings.. Then what would it be? Love always.. Mondira.

    Hi Sir,

few minutes ago i saw your Interveiw with Barkha on NDTV,
with due to respect to you during the whole interveiw i felt that there was only 1 question that you didnt reply with full of confidence and that question was your period of life at the time of BOFORS case, we all know that Bofors case was rubbish, but after Bofors scandal India lost most dynamic and beloved youngest Prime Minister Mr Rajiv Gandhi it was the first set back and second is that your relationship with Gandhi family get worsened, i feel that Bofors scandal era was set back for our Nation coz it had came and vanished Mr Rajiv Gandhi and your relations with him.

    Dear Mr.Bachchan,
I was on the blog before Diwali and I feel its been ages.I really miss reading of the blog page and the comments of the EF but personal commitments prevent me from enjoying your blog pages with regularity.
I am in the US and hence get the benefit of being the early bird to comment.
Do you really need to work so hard ? …at the cost of ailments, lack of sleep, unnecessary medicines,Why ?You got a second life after ‘The Illness ‘,why would you abuse it so ? I can never understand this about men,why they refuse to slow down their pace ?
Great to hear about the good response to “Paa”.When is it releasing?I hope I don’t miss watching it in the theatre. My daughter is pregnant, carrying twins so you ,see I have personal priorities that I cannot ignore. In fact I am enjoying my moments with her and looking forward to my grandbabies !
With a Big God Bless and

  85. Anhad Kashyap says:

    Dear Amit Uncle,

I just saw your movie Aladin. Its fantastic and the best fantasy movie which I have seen in bollywood uptill today. Well there have been efforts earlier to make such films , but for the first time in bollywood, I have seen a movie with such special effects. Secondly, I have observed, in many movies, the binding sequences and scenes i.e. the scenes which are the suspense and the cause of the story are not develpoed properly. But the script of Aladin has been done extremely well. You were infinity uncle.

I wish you best of luck for you next film PAA. I would be watching it for sure.

I am an aspiring film maker and plan to make feature films in the future. I have this feeling that the nature is stopping me from being at the peak. Then to gain confidence, I feel, the nature is afraid of me, because it thinks I would put it exactly on screen.

I would end my conversation with a small line written by me:

Where a soul begs for mercy,
And the Satan Says I am Christ,
So to live a life is must,
Where there is Power in Dust

    With great respect & love

  90. Sameer says:

    Dear Sir;
You are surely generating a lot of anxiety for PAA and may the flim be greater than all expectations.

Although I have not seen the promo (obviously) and I don’t know about the story or theme. I would like to wildly predict that it would be in the lines of ‘BLACK’ or probably better.
It’s about time that you deliver that kind of performance :). (although you put 100% for all your work BLACK was different). I just hope the direction is good.

    Regards

  91. DEVKISHIN VYAS says:

Most of the players in Bigg Boss’s house are behaving strangely. Many are behaving like’ Narad Muni’—changing their behaviour every minute according to situation and convenience. They are bereft of any principles and morals and adopt every trick to please every one on their face and then waste no time to resort to back-biting.
Indeed the BIGG Boss has succeeded in unmasking the pretenders.
Ismail Durbar has proved himself as fickle minded and scheming genius. Instead of composing music he is indulging in plotting intrigues .He stands exposed .There is possibility Ismail becoming victim of his own outrageous behaviour—a ”bali ka bakra”

  92. sunil1976 says:

    sirjee,

another thought occurs. you have been very honest to say 15 crore budget. So now distributors know how low they can go. Perhaps those who claim 50 crore budget might have made 20-30 crore investment and wanted to fool distributors into giving more? :) So their films might still be successes after all!

    Dear Sir.

    Best Of Luck for Paa.
If a promo can gather such enthusiasm and vigour, imagine what
    the movie will do.
It felt great to read that you not only seemingly have a great product
on your platter! But you have saved 25 L also. Please plan the promotional
part well. With Reliance also involved it shall surely be a Big Bonanza.
And do carry me along to carry all the oodles of awards you shall get post the

  114. Tehreem (UK) says:

An industry where every year hundreds of movies are made but all are not liked: some top the charts while others are kicked out of the box office. Some become the hot topic of discussion for the critics while others just escapes their notice, in short some get a thumbs up while others a thumbs down. I often wonder what makes a film good. Is it the content, or quality or the big budgets.

In a world where film-goers are increasingly strapped for cash, one finds that there is a tendency for cinema fans to play it safe with their movie choices. One can argue that this instantaneous need to feed the public encourages producers to emphasize spectacular production values, instead of focusing on story.

For me, a movie should touch our heart and make us talk or think about it instead of just becoming a time pass. It should have the capacity to teach and inspire us and provoke us emotionally.

There is no denial that preposterous budgets and excessive marketing have become an important element in film making today. But I do appreciate that spendings are kept simple for ‘Paa’ because you have proved that even moderate funds did not deter you from creating your masterpiece.

I can’t wait for the unveiling of the trailor on Nov 5th.

    Love & prayers

I am shocked to read how much is spent on movies these days. I am sure under your management cost would have been kept under control and used optimally. Reviews for Paa sounds very interesting and I love drama. I wait for the trailer.

Anat Magen has also had some tragic experience in her life. God shows love to his people in a mysterious way. He makes us stronger in our beliefs and faith. In our sorrow we remember him even more and he showers us with patience and he stays with us. I am glad that you are positive. You would have been hurt even more in different circumstances. Please do not give up hope, I am sure you will be blessed with beautiful children as I have been. I am sure God is still making a beautiful future for you.
I have two wonderful children, a girl of 24 and a son of 22 and both of them are lovely and caring children. I pray to Almighty that you are blessed with a large family. Lots and lots of love and Thank You for sharing with us, yours EF. Pranams.

its very true that idealism stil exist but hardly prevails. its an ironey of today’s materialistic approach one has to develope to survive. however its not just a matter of survival reaching certain stage in life & carrier. and its hard to define the thin line between necesity & greed.so again it becomes a relative term. the way things are going on truth & idealism will merely become Bookish Words. and without that how Humans could/would be able to remain Humans !? as such Animal Instincts are more stronger than the other side. God knows what actually happens in the End of every story-Truth prevails & Good wins over Bad ! surprisingly enough its otherway around in reality so far !
i certainly consider your comment yesterday as an invitation to watch PAA. And it Shall be Different or else……..Hmmmm ! Ahh! atleast the expense should be reimbursed….. lol.. as such you saved 25 lacs in movie making if the nos. are right ! just kidding !hahaha………..

  126. DILJIT WADHAWAN says:

    Dearest Sir,

They all thank and worship you who get the yellow line/band from you… but, it it not that those who do not get it do not worship you… we know you read us all…Incidentally, when I told one of my colleagues that blogging has extended my thought process… I remain connected with the great minds… he replied that there are ghosts/anonymous persons who manage these sites… who write, reply and make the site interesting…but, I denied his baseless allegations… for a Bhishma Pitamah it does not require a ghost to express his opinion…. when he says it is his extended family he means it…by heart…I realise it so do Namita, my wife and my child Kshitij in the small town of Satna in Madhya Pradesh which has Maihar, Khajuraho and Chitrakoot in its near by areas… will you visit all of us… once…. Genius….

    Dear Mr. AB,

A long post AND yellow lines for the Ef. Yippeeee, it doesn’t get any better!

And you and Abhishek have happily concluded the dubbing! You even seem ready for a (temporary?) media truce. Idealism may not prevail often, but it won’t die either. The next troubles may wait just around the corner, so let’s enjoy the DAY while the DAY is bright!

We all share your anticipation for the release of Paa. Wish it was tomorrow. So sweet of you to always think of us first and giving us the promo early. Can’t wait to see you in this truly special role. Although I, for one, will miss the French beard!

    Love,
    Renate

P.S. A big thank you to everyone who wished for my flu-afflicted teenager. He is doing very well, our town has been lucky so far; the cases are many, but generally mild and my son is even able to keep up with his school work. So if you don’t mind, there will be another German poem later.

    Dear Amitabh Bachchan,

Congratulations on completing the dubbing for “Paa” and thank you for sharing your excitement and wonderful reactions to the promo..

From what I read and saw so far and perceived - I will love this film …

No doubt it is very special..
The job you have done in it is absolutely unique and it seems to be a very humane story ..

I think smaller budget only adds a special charm to the film and can underline the achievement..

I wish “Paa” to be successful !! And I am waiting for it with great anticipation..

    *

I did not quite understand the meaning of a couple of the last paragraphs of this entry, but I agree with the line - “Idealism does exist, but seldom prevails ..”
Mundane matters and necessity to toil hard in this material world often smother the brighter and higher poetic perception of reality in our life, which still exists and in particular in the form of art …

I am about to live for my work and I wish you to have a wonderful day and may time passes unnoticeably for you and all of us till it comes to be December 4th ! …
And thank you for the special care for your extended family here on the blog to see the promo a bit earlier : ) Looking forward to it..

And thank you for your love and affection..

    God bless and take care.

    My love and prayers.

  136. Jasmine of London says:

    My dearest Mr. Bachchan,

Your impatience to unveil your next masterpiece is most understandable for all the reasons you exemplify. Indeed the impulse for any artist is to have his work exhibited so others can participate and enjoy must be immense and instinctive. Keeping things under wraps the way PAA has had to be, along with anticipating what public reaction at the end of the build up must be torture everyday!!In fact even waiting for the proper promo on November 5th seems like an eternity for your inconsequential viewer over here who has just watched 40 seconds of the teaser Satyam posted at number 16. I had high expectations of PAA and they have just soared to astronomical levels; the film has an instant appeal for its unique look and I really cannot wait to see more.. Yes it is a pity that magic and genies do not transpire beyond the imagination life would be a little different wouldn‘t it!!

I am delighted the promo’s continue to garner generous and heartfelt praise from those within your industry. They are the most informed therefore the toughest adjudicators and ones whose opinions would carry the most clout. Your dearest fmxt can offer endless encouragement but for someone who has most likely had adulation and praise lavished on them everyday for 40 years, it must reach a point of relative unimportance. I have no doubt the first look of the promo’s tomorrow will continue to reap praise in the same trend and my sincerest good luck wishes for that; and hopefully you will convey reactions.

Congratulations too for completing the dubbing that is wonderful news! At least this leaves you freer to concentrate on the promotions and marketing which are a priority now. And I fervently hope your shoulder pain had subsided, Mr. Bachchan you have a habit of causing concern and forgetting to tell us when all is well again!

I will have to return to your post in the morning. A grave fatigue prevents me from focussing on anything now!

Goodnight Mr.Bachchan, sleep well and best of luck as your work continues in the morrow.

    My love and affection,

    Jasmine
    xx

  144. Nimmi Harisinghani says:

    Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Can feel your excitement, anxiety , anticipation for Paa. The few glimpses of the film we’ve seen look very good.
Wish there were a better way than dubbing dialogues weeks after you have already shot the scene.Don’t know the tech term for it but wasn’t Lakshya done in ‘real sound’ ? Waiting for a film’s release must be agonizing. Particularly since your company is also producing it.I’ve heard some Hollywood actors say/claim they never watch their own films. Can’t imagine why.
Looking forward to Paa’s preview on the 5th.
    Love.

  145. rochelle says:

I just got out of the ‘Twosome Gruesome’ double feature. The reason you would have liked the first one, ‘Theater of Blood’ is that it was more of a horror/comedy/camp film with Vincent Price doing Shakespeare and getting back at his theater critics. He was in top form!

I once asked you on this blog the question on the topic which you discussed today. I asked you how it felt for those in the film industry to have to wait months and sometimes years before showing the final product and everybody’s artistic talents to the public. I was wondering if you didn’t get impatient. I’m glad to see that you have answered that today. And obviously the answer is yes, just as I had imagined. The only reason which I do not really want time to fly right now is that by 12/4 I will be a year older involving a significant change in digits.

Congratulations again on more rave reviews of that much awaited promo. Of course I didn’t understand that last quote but the others tell the feeling very clearly.

Of course you are the finest actor ever and I love you too!

I know that money matters are tedious, which is why I ignore them as much as possible. But since it is your own production, you don’t have that luxury. I hope
all the parts are a resounding success for ‘Paa’, the financial as well as the artistic. I have a feeling you will be receiving those accolades-and don’t worry, 12/4 will be here before you know it. Meanwhile try to enjoy the anticipation and best wishes we are all giving to you.

    Sleep well and without pain.
    Love,
    Rochelle

  146. C, Allyn says:

“Time” is how we measure so much of our lives.
Taking time, making time, not enough time.
It does deliver a sense of well being when a job is done well and when others survey how our time is spent and appraise it, we then get a broader sense of how our time was spent.
The many hours & minutes spent to produce a movie that is viewed by millions never receives the full compliment of a job well done. Right down to the simple ‘behind the scenes” effort to the participation of a highly esteemed actor such as yourself.
It does sound like you are an extremely busy man.
What I enjoy the most about your blog writing is how you place a high importance on family time and that dispite your busy schedule you inject yourself into the lives of others therefore balancing out your days and your time.
I trust your shoulder is doing better?

    Hello Sir
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings on what must seem like a long wait until 5th Dec when PAA will be released and verdict from the masses will given. Your excitement and anticipation is indeed being felt and why shouldn’t it when so much hard work and commitment has gone into making this film. Also it is different and is bound to set new milestones in the Indian Cinematic history. All those comments from those who have seen the promo are straight from the heart. This is definitely an uplifting moment and I think everything is building up well to a momentous release which will no doubt end the year on a high note with plenty of cheer. My very best wishes to You, Abhishek, Vidya, Balki and the crew for this film to achieve worldwide applause and success. We can’t wait to see this on the big screen at such a special and festive time of the year.

I read through your many of your blog items. Written by a legend, but I see struggles and commitment of common man. Your writings reveal that why you are so much loved and will be loved for ever.

You may add one more person in your list of billion fans. This may not be becuase you are famous actor, but the person with golden heart, person next door and person we all wish to be.

Wishing all the best to you and PAA.

Keep the promotion going Amitji…I feel this is going to take all the awards next year for sure…I actually stumbled across the promo today myself…and WOW.,WOW..WOW..WOW

The feelings you have expressed today is so similar to what most women feel when they are pregnant. The excitement, the preparation for the arrival and once everything is set, the wait……the last few days are anxious filled, not knowing how it is going to end. Every step, important and memorable. From the feedback and reading your thoughts it seems that ‘your baby’ is awaited much by all and I for one for sure will be making another trip on December 4th, i.e. if it is playing somewhere close by. Hopefully Valorie will be able to join me this time……lol

Congratulations on finishing the dubbing, I am not going to wish as it looks like my wishes do not work. So, will pray silently for the success.

    Dear Amitji ,
I saw your interview on NDTV with Barkha Dutt .
It was very eloquant, clinical and well answered .
One thing I fail to understand, our journalists
why are they continously trying to pin down the
celebrity they are talking to ?
They could have a much meaningful conversation
if they are straight and honest with their questions.
Their obsession to get controversial answers should
evolve .Seriously, the viewers are not interested in
unnecessary gossip. Even if some are they should be
exposed to otherwise .Such a powerful medium cannot
be wasted this way at times.
These presenters should rest assured that this
positive approach will not hurt the commercial interests.
In fact the one who takes lead, is genuinely positive,
and comes across so will gain the most and set a trend.
Our culture ,our audiences are basically nice .Come on
media empower us. you have the means of NATION BUILDING
In our movies, our stories good always wins over the evil.
It has always worked with us . That is our psyche .
Amitji , whether you realise it or not, your life, your conduct
is an cotinous act of nation building.Today when one looks
around , take any field; where are the Hero”s our children
could emulate? Thanks for being one and inspiring, empowering
us with your exemplery conduct .
Thank you for everything that you continously give us.

Love and success in everything that you do, always

    My beloved Mr. Bachchan,

Thank you for posting the promo of ‘PAA’ on the blog especially for ‘your’ extended family, that’s a very nice gesture and I am touched by your sweetness.
I am so happy for you for getting these encouraging and praising responses to the promo, and I really can’t wait to see this promo and to experience myself all these emotions of awe and admiration expressed by those who watched you playing this mysterious character.

Many congratulations on finalizing the dubbing for the movie. I can indeed understand your desire for time to pass quickly and to reach the desired time ‘instantaneously’. it is when we prepare very well for an examination, a project or a presentation that we start to look forward for this moment when the outcome of our efforts will be presented and judged. I can also understand these emotions of excitement, hope and anticipation that engulf you prior to the release of this most awaited movie, and I do send my wishes and prayers for you to reap the fruits of all your efforts ‘instantaneously’ and Genius like ‘at a snap’ of a finger, and for this movie to be a huge success.

Being the producer of the movie, beside the artist, and the one in charge must have added extra burdens and responsibilities on you, and I recall now the time constrains you had to face during the shoot of the films and your endeavors to finish on the set time.
Management is a huge field, an art in itself and of course it requires talent and persistence to be able to face all these challenges and encumbrances that might come in the way of any venture. Film making, though not totally business, but it is no different.

Dearest Mr.B…those who takes joy in accusation ‘manage’ and run their business without any idealism and needless of any facts. They tend to create their own ideals and set their own facts, and of course acknowledging their own errors and mistakes and even extending their apologies for these mistakes wouldn’t be of much help for their job.

I don’t really know, but I think that ‘idealism’ has acquired a new and different shape and meaning because of this materialistic life that we live nowadays. Everyone seeks and aspires for the ideal, but everyone has his own individual concept of the ‘ideal’…these are just mind ramblings because of the strange behavior one sees…

But I would love to believe that idealism in its true self and those who are seeking this state do exist, and I do hope it prevails.

All best of luck for Abishiek tomorrow..

    Sleep well,
    And sweet dreams,

    Dear Amitji,

Waiting to see the PAA promo and of course the film. it was amazing to listen such good words from the Critics. But I am fed up with such guys who lacks conciscense. We have seen it in ALADIN. I hope and wish that they do the right job. I could not agree with these two paragraphs that you have mentioned.

“Money matters are mundane and irritating, but sometimes it is comfortable to face reality. Many a figure and perception gets manufactured in a manner to express success or failure. Fact is, very little is known on actuals. Some results if probed deeper would present a shocking revelation.”.

When everything is being probed whay not such mis-statement. It;s called Film industry. If it’s an industry there must be good practices else THOSE SURUPLOUS ELEMENTS MUST BE PUNISHED. I think time is not too far for that….

I have no words which can suffice and do justification to your huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge talent. i have to rush now and will speak at lenght on this tomorrow when the official trailor is on with dialogues and all.
    Till then,

    Mr. Bachchan,

Just seen the Paa teaser. It looks like a great feel good film with heart. Simple, moving, and uplifting. The music and cinematography are good. I know the acting will be good with yourself, Abhi, and Vidya all in the film. The film looks like a real winner. I’m hoping the film catches fire and becomes a real success. Good luck with promotions and all the very best!! :-)

  185. Anita says:

    NDH
g’morning, so we move on to Paa. I am sure the film will make history. everyone is waiting for its release, and in your new avatar, you sure would be the most lovable child in the world. As I mentioned earlier, when I first saw the picture, I fell in love, so now the wait is almost ending. May God bless you ever and ever. the head is hurting a wee bit, so having gulped a pain killer, will just shut my eyes for a while, before I prepare for the day. More later.. and with affection.. as always

  186. Neeraj T says:

    Amit Ji

Contain yourself I can see the joy which precipitates out of you .. with the feeling to see the end result and public opinion or response .. it has to be, afterall you make the films for us … and you have raised the expectations again by sharing with us so much appreciation which you are receiving .. let us wait …

you are right .. the films should focus more on content than just materialistic ..

to get public appreciation and liking, story and direction has to be good for the film to give returns.

Looking forward for to see you in person if you happen to be in Pune sometime.

    Love, Respect & Regards
    Neeraj Tiwari

  187. Anita says:

BTW sir, how about a new face on the blog?

  188. Abhijit K says:

    Sir,

I was shocked to see names like Taran Adarsh, Komal Nata etc. in your blog.
This Taran guy says that your acting was OVER THE TOP in Aladin. There is Pratim Gupta of Telegraph who says you have been doing same type of acting after Black.

Why give importance to these guys?
I am sure Taran Adarsh will say next day of Paa release that it’s the biggest flop. They do not promote your movie……..
These are the people who get paid from others to declare your movie a flop.

    I am confused.

  189. Nandita Kao says:

    Dear Mr B,

Eagerly waiting for the release of PAA.The anticipation has increased after reading your post today.Waiting to see the promo tomorrow.Wish you and all those involved in the production all the very best.May the film break all boundaries, and be a mega success.

Hope your shoulder is better. Do take rest, and have a great day.

    Regards,
    Nandita.

  190. Rajesh from Los Angles says:

    Dear Amitji:

Thanks for sharing all the messages u got from industry people on PAA. It surely looks encouraging. PAA will bury the wounds created by Aladdin.
Wishing it a great success and comeback of ABCL lead by one and only Gurukant Desai a.ka. Abhi.
    With Greetings and Prayers,

  192. sharmishta says:

    Mr. B,
“PAA” has Vidya Balan , a volcano of talent she is besides being extremely attractive , when she comes, she conquers by not only looks but sheer histrionics, I, for one ,cannot take my eyes away and I am sure many others would agree.
Looks like u r very tied up with work so have no time to read our mail ,or so it appears, yesterday was a teaser when few got ur yellow line replies!
Catch u later Mr. B, take care.

“……maali seenche sau ghada;ritu aaye fal hoye”.

ah yes! fully concur with you.Idealism seldom prevails. The harsh realities of this world gobble it up too soon.

But still many a Florence Nightingale, many a Mother Teresa, many an Albert Shweitzer, many a Gautam Budhha come among us and go every now and then.

Maybe just to show us that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

  201. Leela says:

    Dearest Amitji,
I can hardly wait until Nov. 5th. for the promo of PAA!
Thanks so much for allowing us the privilege of viewing it here.

On film and theatre: What I do know is that post-production work on film seems to take forever, even after all the shots have been taken. However, the sense of gratification in theatre is immediate. The audience response and the actor’s satisfaction or dissatisfaction is an immediate result of work performed on stage.
I have not done a lot of work in film, but I understand the process exactly as you have described it.
Good luck with PAA, Amitji. I hope it is received with resounding success!
Remember: Trinidad loves you! And I love you even more …
    Best wishes,
    Leela

P.S. Renate: I hope your son does not have the H1N1 virus, and that he will recover quickly from his illness. Sending prayers and love your way…

    sir

Paa adv is there in today’s TOI with Auro bald head, the curiosity level moves up slowly but surely

    All the best…….

To accuse / slander / scandalize important people, is the print / media dirty job to get that extra eye balls , to get that extra trp , why would a common man read about Ram Prasads issue with Barabankhi ? The lies & deceipt that these print / tv media sell, will sell only if it is important people like you and others, this is the ugly truth of beeing in public life, they (print/tv) try and dig out ugly trust or cook up ugly truth, so that their kicyhen fire burns, they care a dam of what happens in the victim life. See how Sanjay Dutts wife manyata past was dug out for doing an item song or two and splashed on all tv channel, how insulting is that now !!! He decided to marry manyata, what does media have a problem with that and why splash someones Izzat on TV ? I guess Rann will be an answer to this where your character does not succumb to this TRP games and playes a honest act !!!!!

    LOL and Regards

    Respected Amitji,

‘The wait is killing…. Somewhere within us, we relish the thought of praise and adulation. A praise that translates into very complimentary expression’

The wait is truly killing for us too.. but praise to u and the entire team goes without an inch of doubt.. As i have always mentioned sirji.. i am very sure this is going to be one of ur best films so far…. for many reasons.. and also one of the greatest come-back-hit from AB Corp.. Many many many best wishes!! you have expressed the anxiety, the making of the movie the tight budgets so well.. thanks for sharing sir!

The smses that u have recd.. says it all.. i join hands with the the last one..
” mujhe khud par naaz hai ki mai aapko janta hu …’ .. it summarises all the other smses and my innermost feelings!

Idealism exists and seldom prevails.. true but there are extreme cases and that is you.. Idealism exists and prevails for ever!!!! Thats Amitji for all of us..

  217. Matt (Michigan) says:

    Sir,

Could you share some of the interesting moments of Paa during the shoot and the makeup and so on? I was surprised to see a foreign language poem here. Is it a spam? I thot this is a website of an Indian actor/legend where people of foreign descent could learn more about your Indian art and culture. Once we are well versed in it, we could share our literature with you. Such material is available at innumerable websites for the wannabe learners. A more detailed discussion of your movies here could help people like me who want to know much more about you. The Paa site excites the gray cells. All the best, Mr. Bachchan.

  218. brijesh tripathi says:

    Please Sir
Do not mention names like Taran Adarsh , Aditya Chopra , Karan Johar.
They are ‘AASTEEN KA SAANP’ for you. You always admire Chopras , Johars more than Ravi Chopra (Who gave ‘Baghban’) , Bhansali (Who gave ‘Black’) why ?
They make their top films with other actors not with Bachchan (Both). Remember the last seen of ‘Mohabbtein’ , your fans wept for your insult (you say it is acting, but we Bachchan fans can not digest this). Remember your role in K3G and KANK .If these Chopras (Yash and Adi) and Karan Johar are your well wisher , why they don’t make films for you in lead . Sir ,it is disheartening that you admire wrong people.

  221. Sudhir says:

    For AB,

Why end on a sad note when the whole day has gone well?

In any case, Idealism ALWAYS prevails. For once, please admit it.

When Raj Kapoor succeeded, Idealism prevailed.

When Manoj Kumar succeeded, Idealism prevailed.

When Bimal Roy, Guru Dutt, Satyajit Ray, Hrishida, succeeded Idealism prevailed.

When you succeeded too, Idealism prevailed, albeit in a different way.

Not just in the entertainment industry, but anywhere in the world, on any subject, ONLY idealism prevails.

Perhaps you meant ‘Ideology’. Ideologies die ofcourse. Most of them come with an expiry date. And have to be revived or re-written or created anew.

There is no space for negativity tonite. Knowing you, as we do from this far, you will now withdraw into a shell and let others hog the space.

But with the advent of the blog, I am happy that we are able to at least feel that silence while you submit to inward contemplation.

I am tempted to quote from Kathopanishad but I shall refrain today. Not the right time.

Just feel certain that you are the best in your vocation… same as I am when I am being myself… same as those who are simply being honest about their beliefs.

On a lighter note, here is a quirky positivist logic:

You are an ideal. You prevail. So idealism prevails.

(Thats a joke… Its supposed to make you smile… I don’t believe in Logical Positivism)

    Wishing you Peace and Happiness,

    Love

    Sudhir

  222. soumik says:

    Dear Sir
While the look and feel of PAA would be mentioned and bandied, i would like to salute you and ABCL for having greenlit an idea such as this. It takes a lot of courage, and i’m sure the budget too would ensure it being a hit on day one itslef.
And i hope Bollywood wakes up to the genius and sound of Ilayaraja.
Also a question aside, os classical scoring and melody truly dead? I mean a ‘jiggy with it’ gets more listeners than a ‘You May Be’ and Rehman’s terrible score in SLumdog generates hysteria. Hopefully the tide will change. Someone will step up to it. Like you have with concept and curiosity increasing audience expectation.
I sincerely hope and feel PAA will deliver on the narative. AB fans and FmXt will throng the hall and hosanna you at the way you have pushed yourslef, and i do hope, scripts that challenge you further can keep coming your way.
Regards and just to let you know that the viral of PAA trailer is already out on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNnS-Q-4_y8&feature=player_embedded
maybe someone has leaked it. Or is it deliberate?

    Dear Amitji

I just saw PAA website. The animation is good and the music heavenly! Who’s the music director/composer? Is it Illayraja for the website signature tune as well?

The music resembles great work of arts by Mozart and Beethoven. It’s some kind of symphony that the music composer has created. Rare, esquisite…simply awesome!

If this kind of music is used in PAA, then I am sure it will be big success not only in India but oversees as well.

All the best to you and entire crew and cast of the film!
    Warm Wishes

    Sadar Charan Sparsh

Let me thank everyone without actually naming them…

It is very very kind of all of you to mention me by name in your posts.. Alas I have decided to not indulge in such practices.. I know it is quite painful.. and only when it is too pressing do refer people with names..

There are hndreds of you who have been addressing me and 9 out of 10 times in the most positive and appreciative manner.. I do not deserve this.. I do not deserve ths since I have decided to not be able to reciprocate.. if someone has felt hurt for my such rudeness I need to be forgiven.. Abhaya loves everyone who has been kind and even the ones who have een unkind.. the critics tell you of your weaknesses they should be appreciated for that fact alone..

    Dear Mr.Bachchan,

Caught up with your interview with Barkha Dutt on NDTV. I think your defence of the use of medium - blogs, and to be erring on the cautious side with respect to interviews is perhaps an example that public personalities need to keep in mind, in this day and age of the great aggressive but regressive India Media.

Reminds of a lovely line from the movie Casino. The gaming commisioners are quizzing Robert De Niro on the role of the President of the Casino, wanting to know the scheudule that Niro’s boss keeps. Trying to dodge the bullet, the president has tried to portray that though active is not active at the casino. The commissioner quiz Niro, and asks, “Who is the Boss”?. Niro Replies “Mr Green (President), whenever he is here, which is like 3 times a month”, The Commissioner, “So you are saying he is the boss?”.

Niro :”Yes, whenever he is here”
Commissioner : “So what do you do?”
Niro : “I just look at the operations of the Casino”
    Commissioner: “Are you the boss”
Niro : “I am humble servant who continues to work with the mandate of the borad, shareholders, and its respective officers”
Commisioner : “So who is incharge when Mr.Green is not here”
Niro :”I look at the operations”
Commissioner :”So you are the boss…?”

    Niro : Yes.

The next day’s headlines screams : Sam (NIRO) says he is the boss!

    Sincerely,
    SK Anand

    hello Sirji, Paay Laagoo

You are quite write saying that these days modest budget of a film is a mere 50-60 crores budget. ….It attracts a lot of hype but are those films worth it?….BLUE was a disaster as far as the story line was concerned, it cashed on the fantasies of many Indians who want to see some underwater adventure in Hindi Movies……Apart from the breathtaking under- water scenes of Bahamas, there was nothing in the movie……Akshay was an utter waste …..It is similar in the case of many other films as well… i feel that it is better to make a Oye Lucky … than a back stabbing treasure hunt like BLUE…….Anyways I appreciate the fact that you guys have not exceeded the limits of your well estimated 15 crores.. I hope it does the best business of the season….. It is a thought provoking thing which you guys are up to … so all the best ….

  247. VISHAL KUMAR GUPTA says:

    Amit,
Not only film making but in every business or profession we are required to give our best to bring out the best from it.
It’s not always necessary that by investing huge amount in business or in profession we will always become successful. The most important thing required is our plans. If really we have got good plans then even with investing small amounts we will be successful.
That’s where the importance of planning in our life lies.
Most of the times we fail in our venture or whatever it may be because of poor planning.

Regarding “Paa” I would like to say this much that you have worked on this film. If you have done good work then I don’t think that anyone can stop this film from becoming successful in box office.

Yes one thing I would like to say if I have done something good and if God gives me some compliments then I will surely think that my life became successful.

Now the question will arise how God will give me compliments.
Better let it be a question.Time will answer that.

    With Regards,
    Vishal Kumar Gupta

  248. Vipin Sharma says:

The system of Yoga as per Bhagvad-gita:

The system of yoga, the Bhagavad-gita, was first spoken to the sun-god (Surya Bhagavan), and the sun-god explained it to Manu, and Manu explained it to Iksvaku, and in that way, by disciplic succession, one speaker after another, this yoga system has been coming down , In course of time it has become lost. Consequently the Lord Krshna has to speak it again, this time to Arjuna on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra.

Lord Krshna tells Arjuna that he is relating this supreme secret to him because Arjuna is his devotee and his friend. The purport of this is that Bhagavad-gita is a treatise which is especially meant for the devotee of the Lord. There are three classes of transcendentalists, namely :
    - the janani, impersonalist
    - the yogi , the meditator
    - and the bhakta, the devotee.

Here Lord Krshna clearly tells Arjuna that he is making him the first receiver of a new parampara (disciplic succession) because the old succession was broken.

The Bhagavad-gita is instructed to Arjuna especially because Arjuna was a devotee of the Lord, a direct student of Krsna, and his intimate friend. There fore Bhagavad-gita is best understood by a person who has qualities similar to Arjuna’s. As soon as one becomes a devotee of the Lord , he also has a direct relationship with the Lord.

The devotee is in a relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead in one of the five different ways:

    - One may be a devotee in a passive state;
    - One may be a devotee in an active state;
    - One may be devotee as a friend;
    - One may be devotee as a parent;
    - One may be a devotee as a conjugal lover;

    Mr Bachchan,

Your friend Mr Amar Singh is taking pot shots at Salman. I can see why he’d resort to such cheap tactics. Poor man is afraid of Salman’s impact on voters. After all, whoever he’s campaigned for in the elections has gone on to win. I just want to say one thing though. Salman has always had nothing but respect for you and your family. He’s always said nice things about you. We all know how Amar Singh is like family to you so it reflects very poorly on you. And FYI, people like Amar Singh can’t even dream of being the kind of person Salman is. He’s a very kind and generous soul. His only fault is that he’s human just like everyone else.

I forgot to congratulate you on finishing the dubbing today. I like that attitude of getting it done once and for all.

I’m just home from seeing ‘Aladin’ for the second time and enjoying it even more. It also helped that I wasn’t on no sleep this time. I just couldn’t resist being at the World Premiere! My more alert brain certainly helped with understanding the background story told in the second half. I must say that if you miss one or two subtitles it can get confusing.

After seeing it tonight, I cannot understand what problems the critics had with it. I loved all the song and dance numbers. Your so called over the top acting was perfect for a fantasy genie. The same thing with the look you were given.
There was a huge cutout of the poster at the theater which I would have loved to take home. Tomorrow when I see ‘London Dreams’ after my dreaded dentist appointment which I hope won’t last hours, I’ll be looking to pick up an ‘Aladin’ poster from the Imaginasian Theater if they are out.

I couldn’t resist a peek at the ‘Paa’ promo which several have posted already. This will certainly be amazing although I couln’t understand the Hindi. I better take at least two boxes of tissues with me to the theater.
I surely hope everyone’s toil is rewarded with the success it deserves.

    Love,
    Rochelle

    Dear Lion King,

I am not prepared to sit in the dark here in HK wondering if Paa will be released here or in Singapore and hence have decided to plan a trip to India at that time.

Every day there is a new revelation with Paa. The trailers posted on youtube have now given me a glance of your full visage, your gait , your stoop , the beating of your chest in the rain and your other quirky mannerisms. I am speechless. I was shell shocked to see the “full” you. You look a bit like Gandhiji in certain angles, I think it is the bald head which brings about the semblance or maybe more like Kingsley in Gandhi. But whatever the look is, it is breathtakingly sad yet beautiful, like a weeping willow.

How did your cub carry you? Wow, I wonder how many takes that scene took!

14.75 crores is a very mediocre amount to be spent on a film nowadays and a prudent decision at that. Slumdog was made on a lesser amount and reaped a hundred times over. Numbers do not make a good film, content, acting and YOU are still king. The audience will swarm to the cinema halls like bees once they get the sense of the film.

I just want to add one thing, I wish that this movie does not get inundated in the number’s game from judging seat occupancies to gross box office and distribution revenues. Even if the economics of business cellotapes itself over this wonderful gift you are giving the audience, let us savor the gift and not it’s worth. Let us put the numbers at the back seat and enjoy a movie which is a stark contrast to the alfa alfa fodder thrown to us and we are left chewing the cud. Let us enjoy the creativity and the hard work that has been put into this lovely gift that you have so carefully wrapped with your talent and incredible determination. I wish to savor this movie in it’s fullest form and for what it’s worth, the worth being the emotions it brings in all of us and in you for making an incredible movie.

A price can never be attached to ingenuity and numbers do not always mean everything.

On that note, I would like to add, I missed getting a reply yesterday and felt very sad..:(…( effect of the numbers game )

    xoxoxoxoxoxo
    Love u and infinitely more…
    Sharmila

  258. flexbhu says:

    Dear Amitji,
I am waiting to see the movie Paa too….Though big numbers are manufactured but i believe there are truth to it too. I believe that Income Tax department when they release the name of the highest tax payers confirms that an actor with just one or two movie in a year if able to pay 35-40 crores as tax, then the producer of the movie must have spent huge amount in the making of a movie. It is also the fact that they are willing to pay because they make more often than not. Suppose i want to have the best music for my movie, i would most certainly approach to A R Rahman, needless to say that i have to wait for 2-3 years, but it is still worth the wait. His works are exemplary. I believe production houses like Yash Raj and Dharma Productions have excelled because they believe in making quality things and so there is an ISI label on them. Similarly the movie made by Aamir Khan are made with utmost dedication. I would not like to name few of the movie makers but unfortunately you also are the part of are not serious film makers. As you say it is art, so please make it with dedication not necessarily fast. It is not 8-5 job, please take your time.

Sensationalism , I think is passe and our journalists should wake up to the fact. On one hand there are people who do love such things but now the number of positive people who want to see and hear something constructive are increasing. I think the journalists should bring up the level of those who are still into gossip and balooney and get them to informative good thinking.

Such intelligent people, well read people and well travelled, exposed people are interviewed and then you ask them the same old questions to try and get something out of them, maybe a slip of the tongue, to get your two bit of sensation.

Many of our actors today are well spoken and intelligent should’nt we learn from them?

Anyway, you were very diplomatic on NDTV and I wish such an intelligent journalist could have brought something interesting and new out of you, which could have been enthralling for the people.

Sometimes I wonder how difficult it must be for any star or Guru to behave in real life. You always have to be wary of what you say and how you act or react to situations. Is it too big a price for stardom? One should let people alone for a bit and give them private time and understand that they are human too.

After all what is important is to live and let live. But you have always done fantastically well and that is why you are the heartthrob of so many hearts.

I was wondering that if so many people could pray for you when you were sick, how many would come up in arms to support you if you were in some security crisis? Believe me you have the same effect today as you had then and you should not be scared but come from a position of power, cause you are revered around the world by millions.

Take care and never worry. You have many guardian Angels.

    love,
    dimple

  261. Vipin Sharma says:

The Bhagvad-gita should be taken up in a spirit of devotion.

The purpose of Bhagvad gita is to deliver mankind from the nescience of material existence. Every man is in difficuly in so many ways , as Arjuna also was in difficulty in having to fight the battle of Kuruksetra. Arjuna surrendered unto Sri Krsna and consequently this Bhagavad-gita was spoken. Not only Arjuna, but every one of us is full of anxieties because of this material existence. Our very existence is in the atmosphere of non-existence. Actually we are not meant to be threatened by non-existence. Our existence is eternal. But somehow or other we are put into asat. Asat refers to that which does not exist.

Those who begin to question why they are suffering or where they came from and where they shall go after death are proper students for understanding Bhagvad-gita. The sincere student should also have a firm respect for the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Such a student was Arjuna.

Humanity begins when this sort of inquiry is awakened in one’s mind.

    Dearest Amitji,

You are special, thats why you make us FmXt special. Thank you.

Its quite easy to see a movie for just around 3 hours and give our verdict. Superb, good, ok, bad, flop.

But those who gave in their time, energy, thoughts, talents and others who focussed meticuosly on planning , preparations, settings, locations, ideas would know what it takes for the making. This is something which goes unnoticed most of the time and gets noticed only if it hits box office.

I wish and pray and congratulate before hand ALL those who put in all their efforts for the making of PAA. ALL includes even the one who would have just made holes on the ordinary box for the eyes and head to be slightly visible.

    Hi Sir,

Glad to hear that more encouragement for PAA has been pouring in lately. To make a film at the budget that was decided upon from before is good news. Making it a lower cost is beneficial as when it comes to returns the amount needed to reach that point of profit is lower making the potential for earning more higher. Knowing you, the returns are not important, but its an observation. The anticipation that you are feeling is understandable as the excitement surmounts with more of those well wishing comments. Looks like you have finished dubbing for PAA in a new record timing.

Dear Amitji, Good Morning. PAA has involvement of two great Paa in the team which made this film. I consider Late Shri Dhirubhai Ambani as the greatest Paa of modern India. When we were in college 3decades ago the buzz used to be Reliance is a bubble and it will burst one day. Nothing happened like that and today when you mentioned budget of 15Crores for Paa I smiled at peanuts you spent in partnership with Reliance. There is great business sense when you say it was completed in 14.75Crores. So you earned something even before the release may be notionally. One has to be prudent while spending to have good returns.
You mentioned 75 Crore films breaking even at 150Crore collections at the box Office does not make business sense. It is risky business. If earning in a film is 1:1 I would rather suggest stay away from this business of film making. Yes if PAA gives you 1:10 earning I would say with a smile the first and second great Paa have clicked well. You are the second great Paa which Abhishek possesses along with Shweta.
The promos and reviews can be trusted to a little extent. Most important thing is hunger of audiciences to see and enjoy those 3 hours in the dark theatre. Nothing better than the claps you get there. Money will certainly follow good effort and if stakes are low survival is guaranteed. May be there is a management lesson in making of Paa.
You will be surprised to know that a year ago on this blog I had mentioned about need of a Management course in film making. An Institute in Pune has started such a course I believe.
Challenges must be thrown at young people to make budget films and I am sure as many FTII short films get awards so also these business ventures of short stories in a budget will some day reach a level beyond Oscars. Our Paa’s of Indian cinema and Indian businesses have to have a vision to make films and TV merge as a cost effective Institution. We have a large potential for entertainment business within our country as well as for export. We can be real PAA of entertainment world-over. The right Paa’s have to come together.
Have a great day and relax before the anxiety of Paa is transferred from you to the critics to the Media to ultimately the viewers. Hope the popcorn sales records also get broken along with decorking of Thums-up Pepsi and Coca-Cola and ofcourse Samosas Tea & Coffee.
My regards to those who serve in the intervals of films and show what is real Time-Management.
    Ravi P Malhotra

    Hi,

Muje aap pe pyar aa raha hai….Paa is going to be a huge success….I have that gut feeling….YES YES YES its going to be an outstanding film of yours….saw the trailer…oh my dear ,I love you…aaise lagata hai (bahut bar lagata hai…par mai aaisa vaisa kuch nahi karungi…I know my limits) aapke pass daud ke aau…you are really great, its hard for me to wait till tomorrow.

Idealism does exist, but seldom prevails ….why this sort of writing ?Why the word seldom ? Its idealism which will prevail at all times .I did not get what you want to say! A bit confusing.

Hey koi koi din aaisa hota hai…..jab jyada ,had se jyada…kuch nahi

    Take Care

Amitji, I am eagerly awaiting PAA’s release.
    It certainly sounds very good.
By t, Alaadin is doing very well among the children according to the Indian media. Sorry exclude Abhijeet Majumdar’s Mid-Day Media‼‼ They have not said anything although thought they would jump up and down of the movie not doing well.
Anyway, great to read all the positiv comments on PAA.
Regards to you and the Bachchan Family.

    My derest Mr. Bachchan,

Clearly, you are very excited about the release of PAA! It is palpable! I have never seen you this vocal or intense about any of your releases this past year! But do pls be a little patient…I have not forgotton any of your Briefs, where you would tell us of your long hours with those make-up atrists from abroad, your exhausting schedules, or the pictures that you’d post for us to see here, on the blog, with that horrible plaster all around your face, with just the nostrils exposed to allow you to breathe! After having gone thru such torment and persevered to this extent, it is not surprising to see your excitement, your impatience and your anticipation at the prospect of seeing the reactions of the masses when it is released.

Wishing you a stupendous success for PAA!

    With much love and blessings,

    Dear Amit Air,

I am replying to your blog for the first time. My best wishes for your upcoming film PAA. I also saw one of your pictures in the newspapers from PAA set. It was hard to recognize you. I don’t think any actor in this world would have tried such difficult role. Till date your best scene that come to my mind is “Aj mere pas bangla hai, gaadi hai” from Deewar. I wish you belated happy b’day. I am watching and enjoying your movies since I got consciousness (I am 30 yrs old now) and wish that your continue to do so for another 25 yrs.

When I was in primary school ( in 1985-1990), then on Sundays 5:30 pm , a feature fim used to get broadcasted on Doordarshan. In general, in 3-4 months duration, on one particular SUNDAY..your film used to get broadcoasted, and on that day the whole day we used to wait for 5:30 pm and pray for no power cuts so that we could see you and enjoy the movie.

    Lots of love

  300. Abhaya says:

    Dear Brother
    Sweet Love

I find you being a little impatient with the release of PAA.. when you say I wish 4th December was tomorrow..

There could be no doubt that we always tend to wait eagerly for any projects that have our involvement.. and here in PAA it is a dual involvement as a producer and as an actor.. as someone else also quipped introducing Amitabh Bachchan was quite a take.. well if we have to rediscover you there it shall be a great pleasure..

For an actor every film is as important as the other.. so I would not mind such childlike reractions from someone who is actually labelled star of the millenium, has been honoured n number of times has probably commanded a great respect for his talent as a performing actor in Cinema.. in Hindi Cinema.. it is understandable..

I wish that Paa does as well as Sholay or Deewar.. I wish Paa promises as much as an Oscar nomination that has eluded you so far.. I felt the performance in Deewar was worthy of one.. I realise your performance in Kala Patthar was worthy of another and I also think that your performance in Abhimaan definitely deserved one after all..

Yet brother.. You for me are above the awards and success of a film.. you brother are an actor par excellence.. even if I do not say that explicitly over here..

I know one thing for sure that actor in you is alive and breathing as well as it was at the time of those wonderful years in the seventies.. yet if you would allow me to say a few words I would very much love if you could get a new face.. you have sported the french beard for nearly a decade now.. you looked awesome in KBC jus for sporting it alone.. now it is the time that you take another dig at your looks and present yourself with a new look Amitabh.. Introducing Amitabh..

    Love as always.

  306. Devesh says:

Post no. 2 “An admirer though not a Fan”

    Dear Amitji,

Was wondering if you do get the time to actually read the comments to your blog..

My last post was around a week back, the reason being that I had gone to Kanpur to meet soem relative (and relax because it was a long weekend) and had intentionally decided not to take the laptop there. Could’ve tried writing in through my cell but it was tedious so I decided against it (also as I am sure with so many comments you would hardly miss me :-)

Congrats for all the accolades for the promo of “PAA” hope to catch in the next couple of days on TV. Not sure whats the reaction you received for “Aladin” (although I see a lot of accolades in what the fans have said) have been however I have put watching in on “hold” since my younger brother watched it and didn’t exactly have too many good things to say. This may come as a surprise and yes you have guesses it right I am an admirer of Amitabh both as an actor and the person but cannot be categorized as a “fan” in the true sense of the word. The fact that we share the same college (KMC) also makes sure I look at you more as a senior than a big “star”. I do realize this is foolish to an extend because you really have reached extraordinary success, however keeping you in a very high but still realistic pedestal keeps me motivated enough to dream reaching similar heights in my own sphere of life.

It is refreshing to see you share the production side anxieties and nervous energy before the release of a film. Such utterances don’t come pretty often even though everyone must be having similar feeling before their own releases. Maybe it disturbes their ego too much or they think their “fans” are too naive to understand such things. To see someone like you consciously decide not to do so and also go to an extent of quoting the amount spend on the movie comes as a pleasant surprise. The prudence of working with a busienss house such as Reliance expecially when you are more invlined to the “artistic” side of things cannot be overstated. I does look like a good business decision by ABCL.

It was slightly diappointing to note that you had decided to refrain from trying present harsh facts and correct the incorrect perceptions. The struggle between perceptions and reality (facts) is a never ending one because it is difficult to change perceptions as they are not based on logic. But I feel that we grow as a result of this struggle so those who have access to fact shoudl shre these more often than not. This will not eliminate perception but keep the window open for a debate to negate them.

I belong to the management consulting fraternity and in our profession “perception management” as the cleint decides to take a particular action not on the basis of what is best for him/her but what he/she perceive to be so. Also most often the source of a particualr perception/view is an incorrect fact and in the long run correcting the fact will lead to the “right” perception in 80% of the cases.this is similar to saying Honesty is the best policy…in the long run. Its very difficult to evaluate whetehr such things are true you either believe they are or you don’t.

I think you belong to the former group, so we should let the “system” run however we should keep playing our part in the struggle and keep sharing the “right” facts.

    regards
    :-Devesh

    Dear Amit Sir,
If i will start my letter by saying that I am your great admirer, fan then i will be very common for you to hear all this, but i can’t stop me by writing this.
I was born in year 1977 and correct me if i am wrong your movie Sholay was released sometime then only, I started understanding abt movies when i was somewhere 13-14 years of age means from year 1989-90, and after that only i saw all your movies whether it was Sholay, Deewar,Namakhalal,Kala Patthar,Trishul etc and i always thought that these movies are realising first time only then i came to know that these movies had already released long back. From that time u become my fav. actor, If fact pls don’t take this otherwise when Abhishek’s first movie Refugee was released we all friends went to this movie saying that ” are yaar apne nephew ka movie release hua hei, amit bhaiya ka beta hei dhekni padegi ” after that i have seen all yours and his movies and we all friends use to discuss when Abhishek’s initial movies were not working that one day the true blood will show his colour,” are yaar Amitabh ki be pheli 11 movies flop hui thi isko tho 20 movies ka concession hei” but when Bunty aur Bubbly, Guru etc released every thing was released.
I am married now and have a 2 and half years old son, I went to see your recently released movie Aladin onFriday last show, and he was asking me from starting that when Amit uncle will come do Jaddu, He watches your show Big Boss everyday, yesterday night your show “The Bachchan Blockbuster” was aired on NDTV at night he was sitting with me and watching the show till 1:30 night.
Jst read that on 7th Nov you will be completing your 40 yrs in Hindi Cinema not using the word Bolywood as once you said that we don’t require Bolywood same like Holywood.
So many many congrats for the same and may god gives you long and healthy life .

i watch biggboss everyday and wait for friday .But amitji Shilpa was full of life and seemed genuinely pleased to meet the housemates whereas for u it seems like a chore and you dont seem to enjoy what you are doing.I know comparisons are odious but big boss 2 was more interesting and the housemates were not as jaded as the present batch. You seem to be dull and definitely not successful in perking up the show.Sorry for the criticism but truth is always bitter and i hope u take this in your stride. Please let me know what u think of my comment

  327. Tapan says:

    Dear Amitji,

I m a big fan of yours. Infact I m a big fan of entire bachhan family-Abhisekh, Aishwarya and Jayaji. Abhisekh is going to be the next generation Superstar. Abhisekh has done all the hard work after so many flops. But there is a suggestion from me for Abhi. Tell him to be very selective in his roles. Don’t waste his talent in doing more Supporting roles. Please do main leads only. For “Paa” I can only say I m eagerly waiting for the film to release. You have won so many awrds in your carrer. I want to see Abhi winning best actor award at all awrds functions.
    Thanks

    Tapan.

hi Amit ji I am a huge fan of yours but have just strarted following your blog infact it is my first day today. I look forward to following your blog very closely from the internet lab of my college. I really enjoyed your today’s blog and wish you luck for PAA and am really exited of catching the first look. I also watch bigg boss regularly and am always waiting for your appearance on it. Ok sir again wishing you luck and good bye for now.

  329. shobha says:

Hi- I saw your NDTV interview last night. It is one of many interviews I have seen and have always noticed that you appear uncomfortable at some level with your stardom as you seem to feel you dont deserve the adulation, being a “mere actor”. We all have value for immensely gifted achievers like yourself and look at your life as an example. When my husband and I went through a financial crisis some years ago I remember we watched an interview of yours fully empathising with you and drawing strength from your experience. That is what you mean to us so please do accept the celebrity status and realise that you are playing an important role just by living and being yourself. All the best with your release!

    Dear Amit Ji,

This is the first time I am writing on your blog. Before I go ahead and share my opinion on anything with you I’ll introduce my Self to you

    Name:Shuchi Tiwari
    Place :Native - Delhi
Currently in Andheri West , New to Mumbai
    Age - 26
    Occupation - HR Consultant

The reason I am writing to you is , I saw your interview with Barkha Dutt yesterday on NDTV & she asked you a question that why are you such a closed person ? Why people feel that they can’t penetrate into the shell that you have made around yourself.

I Kind of agree with her. I am little curious to know , Are you in reality a very introvert ? U don’t like people knowing too much about you ? and if this is true why did you choose to be a public figure :) don’t you think it is Ironical ?

This just a thot, You have been Entertaining People in all forms.. Big boss movies etc… How about doing a serial like Mind your language. It would go a long way for people who cant speak english to learn and since you ll be there it would be really followed. Spoken English is a big advantage for people to get jobs..people from smaller towns need it . It would be entertainment and you would be doing big service also

    Dear Amitabh Ziibbu

I have seen your reply to me at Facebook. I have replied you there already. yet I would not be able to forgive myself if you do not understand my motives..

I had never thought in the first place that someone as great as you could have written whatever was written.. anyway if you had your valid reasons.. why should you have to bother about whatever I had to say in favour of Reeham.

I do tend to see that you are a bit emotional and get upset by small matters.. if you did not like what I wrote it is quite undersatndable and I publicly tender an apology to you..

I would probably never come in your way and maybe if this is what I get in return for loving you as a younger brother that you do not want to give me a chance to be understood and threaten to feel so bad that you wanted to take the matter to brother.. I am not here to change your that opnion.. yet if you do say that you will finish yourself for such a silly matter.. I should in no way accept your line of thinking.. can not understand what great heartbreak did I cause you when I wrote eha I wrote..

Phir bhi boss mai tumse haath jod kar maafi maagata hoon.. mujhe yah pata chal gaya hai ki tumhaare baare mein meri bhavana kitani hi achchhi kyon na ho.. tumhe yakeen nahi hone vala.. kya kar sakata hoon.. kya kah sakata hoon..bhagwaan se ymhaare liye praarthana hi kar sakata hoon ki tum koi bhi aisa kadam na uthaao jisase hum logon ko sharminda hona pade.. Is is that simple to finsih oneself.. tum itane kaayar nahi ho sakate agar tum bhaaisahab ke itane bade fan ho to thdi to zindadili dikhaao boss apane andar.. that is not the right way to solve one’s problems.. I hope you will forgive me and act like a worthy younger brother..

Love you as much as I love Reeham
    Abhaya Sharma
(abhayafriends par detail mein likha hai ummeed hai tum mujhe samajhane mei kisi tarah ki bhool nahi karoge.. shayad mai ab kabhi blog par na likh paaon.. koi gham nahi hai mujhe bas tumhara bhala chahata hoon..)

PAA’s AURO has surpassed BLACK’s Debraj Sahai.
    Amitabh Bachchan @ 67 has surpassed Amitabh Bachchan of 27, 37, 47, 57!!!!

And we - your FmXt and your fans - have again been vindicated!

    Dear Amitji… PAA…

(Don’t know What to write? How to write? not finding words cause writing about/before you is i think is out of my limits. Don’t know what’ll i do if i meet you face to face. Here goes my first post on your blog.)

First of all i prey to god that, he gives you a strength to achieve what you want, entertain us as your are since..don’t know from how long???

Not only me but i think my PAA (my father) is also a fan of yours… I’ve seen him dressing like yours, keeping hairstyle like yours…before i seen you on TV, and since then i came to know you..always starved to know you as person, as human being. Your blog helped me in this but still i think theres lot about you that one can learn. Following you is not going to be simple/easy but still i’d like too.

One line, I don’t know, might be your father had written it and heard you on one program since then i’m following it…

“Mann ka ho toh acha, na ho toh aur acha.”

PAA, i think you are feeling as anxious as we are about release of this movie.

wishing you good health and may god bless you.

    Warm Regards,
    Deepak M.

I saw your interview with Barkha Dutta and it compelled me to check your blog. I was truly amazed to see that you actually take out time at the end of the day to write your blog so religiously and beautifully if I may add. It is such a wonderful way to voice your opinion plus connect with people. It inspired me to write few lines too and be a part of your extended family.
That interview was the closest one could see Amitabh Bachchan the person. We have all seen different images of you over the years, some original and some created by media perhaps. If one could read between the lines, it was like you have come such a long way sir not just in your career but as an individual as well. To hear you saying and stating your reasons not to comment on Mumbai riots was perhaps one of the most humbling and mature statement I have heard from a person of your stature. And so true too. I felt you are polite but a very assertive person in your ways and today perhaps you can exercise your assertiveness where and when needed. We all say we evolve over the time and learn with experiences in life but how many of us actually succeed. Despite all your busy schedules and obligations how you get time for yourself, as working on self is as much of a tough task.
We all are big fans of your films undoubtedly but it was inspiring and heartening to see the real Amitabh somewhere in that interview and through your blog. Media may have given you the title of BIGB but you have actually have proved that you are !
I salute you sir with all my sincerity. My best wishes for PAA !!

SIR GR8 TOO SEE THIS PROMO , CANT WAIT TO WATCH THIS MOVIE. SIR IS THIS REALLY YOU

  394. rajeev says:

For those of us living in the west, the box office figures of bollywood cinema make no sense at all. Hollywood studio declare the gross box office collection every weekend for everyone’s benefit. It is not possible for a small group of so called trade gurus to create a false perception of success or failure of a movie.

What others do may not be in your control, but Mr. Bachchan you have done something wonderful. You have made crystal clear in advance that the PAA cost 14.75 crores ( is it including publicity ?). Please make take one more radical step and declare the gross collections (NOT “share” and other such insider terms) every Monday during the duration that PAA is played in movie theatres.

I hope all producers follow your lead and bring openness and clarity to these numbers.

  395. PB a fan in Texas says:

Satyam 58 thanks for that link; just can’t help myself, I found it hilarious… looks like something straight out of an old American western…too bad Mr. Bachchan was too young to have been cast in an old John Ford movie! he coulda given John Wayne a run for his money…

  396. Pravin Shelar says:

    Dear Amitji,
You looking very defferent in PAA pramo, compare than your other rolls,
this looks show to you deffrent but not child.
Your make over shows of old man’s innocence like Dilip Prabhawalakar,
Your looks works to attract the audience in cinema hall.
Now you are going on Kamal Hasan’s track.

  397. Urvashi says:

OMG Is that you ? Gosh really is that you??… it has been a couple of hours aur yahan pe bawaal machaa hai ke who is that … as I said earlier in Colorado there is less Indian exposure so we don’t get to see these promos and all so when I saw this pic – I cut the top and bottom of it and send to all Indians I know over here – asking guess who this is …( some of them who know me well just took a shot at it - ke agar meh koi picture bhej rahi hu to woh either my kids ka hai ya toh aap ka…) but could not guess still!! . they forwarded it on to others out of the state and all … and gosh there is a flood of emails .. Wondering who it is and at the same time telling people what this picture is about …you should see what all people are contemplating …. No one has the clue this is the BIG B !! By the end of the day , if no one can guessed then I will send in the whole poster!! Wow I can’t wait to see the film … Aladin Dallas meh ayi hai yahan nahi …..  Oh please Paa ka distribution Colorado meh zarooor karna ….. I bet you it will be a huge success…

Jeeyo and good luck. U R The Best and will always be !!

you are right. thats what i said in my comment too. first name came to my mind was Clint Eastwood. but it looks more like copy of John Wayne movie scene.
lol…… ppl consider Korea & Taiwan no.1 to copy any thing on Tech side. but no one can beat Indian film Industry in copying western/Hollywood or any other foreign films & music. it seems like entire industry is based on that. if we look back we hardly find originality either. it was OK then as ppl had less exposure
to outside world. these days world is getting smaller & smaller .thanks to Tech. Indian cinema definitely do miss a touch of satyajit Ray,Hrishikesh Mukharji & shyam Benegal kind of film makers.

    Dear Amitji,

Love means no sory no thanku…….missed last nights post as busy organising for graduation ceremony today 4th November. Stuck in traffic…just about made it on time before the ceremony started!!!! Great day had by all.
Saw the PAA website. Saw the promo……your pic. Can’t wait for the 4th December (my brother’s birthday). Mine on the 5th - I had the best present ever last year ………….a yellow line from you. Hope to get one this year too.

Oh! not fair … did the ink run out for my yellow line yesterday????
Can feel the excitement in your post for PAA. 14.75 crores seems a good price
for the movie so it should certainly more than make that easily. Easy peasey lemon squeezy!!!

Looking forward to seeing more tomorrow.
    Good night and God Bless
    Love and best wishes

I can sense the tension. Well, the anxiety. Multiple hats that you are wearing on this big project- and roles as a performer and co-producer are at two different ends of the creative spectrum. 150 crores return is scarily huge, specially when I think of average per seat revenue.
    Now I’m on edge too.

Had been away on work for the last few days hence the absence, now to read and comment.
