DAY 521

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Posted on: September 25, 2009 - 2:45 am

Prateeksha, Mumbai                   September 24/ 25, 2009                    Fri  2:14 AM

Soccer with Agastya in the morning at the Prateeksha lawns. Shanouk wondering why no one is interested in kicking his plastic bottle which he chases and instead kicking a round leather ball. Driving the kids down to pick up their Mami from the airport, returning from Goa after her shoot. Another meticulous meeting with COLORS on the song promo shoot tomorrow. And now a few minutes ago returning from a trial of Ashutosh Gowarikars “Whats your Rashee”.

Simple pleasures of life. Yet nothing that can be substituted by the time spent with the little ones. Their language and understanding and their questioning are way ahead from what we may think them to be. They are not the 11 and 8 year olds ; they are the digit 0 attached to their present respective ages.

I have now precisely 3 hrs to get some sleep, before starting off to Khapoli, some distance away from Mumbai, for tomorrows promo shoot and if FmXt would want that I preserve some of my sanity by the time the camera rolls, I must perforce wind up this blog for the day and get into the covers..

I hate doing this. But maybe tomorrow will give me more time to put down some thoughts that shall hopefully make up for today.

Let me quickly then address a few issues that the Ef were concerned about.’ Teen Patti’ and ‘PAA’ are not coming on the same day as has been probably indicated, as December 4th. Only PAA is.

There is a beautiful website for TEEN PATTI which needs to be visited : www.teenpattithemovie.com

Let me have inputs on that. ‘Aladin’releases on October 30th and the promotions and music launch and press publicity shall start from the 28th of September. “RANN” releases in January 2010.

Much love to all … and apologies for this impersonal content today..

Amitabh Bachchan

    Shri Amitabh Bachchan,

    नमस्ते.

Wonderful post yesterday by all. Many suggested parents from who they seek approval the most. Next GOD. And in that order.

We all contributed a great deal yesterday to your thoughts and question. We all have our experiences from which we derive knowledge. Must of it stems from our parents.

We thank you for helping us explore these realms and coming to our own sense of realisation.

    Love always,

    Manish Parmar, UK.

  7. Shankar - Abu Dhabi says:

    Dear Amitji

Sometimes one is burdened when one performs..more and more is expected out of him/her…

Inspite of giving the world some mighty performances, people still crave to see the best in you..what more can one ask when films like Black, Khakee,Baghban,Sarkar , Deewar,Trishul and so many of them have portrayed variety..but yet, we ask for more!!..

How does this impact your working?

“The thing about performance, even if it’s only an illusion, is that, it is a celebration of the fact that we do contain within ourselves infinite possibilities.”..how true is this??

    Luv & Regards
    Shankar

  8. MANOJ KUMAR OJHA, HASSI MESSOUAD, ALGERIA says:

In last 47 days 33 encounters lot of jawaans and major martyred at Baramula and other sectors at Kashmir. Yuvraj Singh got injured and not be able to play in Champions trophy. 100 of crores of rupees changes hands in betting. Still Kargil war martyrs family taking round and round of the pension offices but still lot of them didn’t received the pension. But why Government, media or common people don’t think about them. We all always voice for Cricket, films, actors but rarely we raise our voice for our real heroes.
No one trying to understand the agony of our real heroes family.

THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG. IT REQUIRED URGENTLY TO BE ADDRESSED.

I am so sorry I can’t suppress my emotion to voice this concern on your blog.
I’ll read and comment relevant to your blog in a while.

    With love and warm regards,

    MANOJ KUMAR OJHA

  10. Daisy M says:

    Dear Mr Bachchan

You did EXACTLY what we desire most by keeping the Post short tonight. your precious sleep must always come first… and three hours is already painfully meagre.

Adored the notion of a disgruntled Shanouk wondering why everyone is obsessed with some stupid leather ball… hey Shanouk.. you play for the girls’ team after all!! Or perhaps ol’ golden paws is just waiting for someone to invite him to become an ace winger or some such role… and hadn’t you already told us he was expert at ‘dribbling’…

Oh dear, had better not mock the Sacred Sport… or I shall be sent off in disgrace..

I promise I shall explore the Teen Patti website tomorrow when hopefully some of my mental faculties will be re-charged. For tonight just sending all best wishes for tomorrow’s travel and promo shoot…

    With all my love, Daisy

  11. madhu says:

glad to read you blog. Take care .

  12. Srinivas from USA says:

    Dearest Amitji,

In Day 520 blog, yes I concur with what you have said about “APPROVAL”. From each and everyone in this complex world we need approvals and for that matter even from God we seek approval to survive and move on with our life! Without approval, it’s hard to survive/live in this world.

The best form if someone has to approve us is “OUR MOTHER”. Our Mother is the greatest person on the planet and for me she is more than God! She is the best and nothing comes in her way when she gives her approvals and reciprocates with her kids!!!

1st Instance: It says in Vedanta that when we a person takes sanyasi (As Adi Sankarcharya did or any Shankar petam would follow), first they need to seek approval from their mother. Without mothers’ approval, the person can’t take sanyasi diksam! That’s the power of Mothers’ Approval.

2nd Instance: Without our mothers’ approval, we can’t born in this world. She is so great that she gives up every ounce of her blood to kids, family and whoever needs love/ help. Such is the greatness of our mother and we live in this world with her approval! No wonder Mothers’ are great and there are hardly any words for me to express her form. I simply say to all Mothers’ in this world “THANK YOU for being with us and taking care of this world”.

3rd Instance: Even when God takes avatar of human being, he seeks approval of himself, his gurus and even from the human being. He gets into the person’s dream and asks that mother or couple that he would like to born in her womb for a cause – Approval required.

Amitji, I am writing with tears in my voice that I don’t have my mother anymore and she has passed away with Colon Cancer when she was 54 years old (3 yrs back). I use to love her most than God or anyone else for that matter. It’s been a while that my lips are tight without calling her “Amma” and I don’t seek her approval anymore in person; only with blessings from above! This is the first time that I have ever shared my heartfelt feelings with you and my FMXT… For me, till now it’s hard to live without my mother and many times I still go into depressions and black hole. Blessed are those people who have mother and it’s like conquering the whole world!

Sarkar, please don’t burn your night candles, Take some rest because we need you in this world! I lost my mother and I can’t afford to lose without talking to you and my EF…

May God bless your for good health & longevity of life!

    Luv U Always,
    Srinivas Kappagantula

  15. MSR Murthy says:

Amazing energy level and commitment from you. We probably can rarely see a celebrity being commited to his fans so much as you do. Its about 3 AM in India and you still took some time to share your thoughts.

Good to read of your day with grandchildren. I am sure you had good fun and enjoyed the time

  16. Jasmine Jaywant says:

Amitji, what a short n’sweet post. Thanks for all the news! We love to hear about the happenings in your daily life. So glad you wrote a short post and have gone to bed. Only 3 hours to sleep — my God! Hope you sleep on the way to Khapoli!

Loved the description of football game with Agastya on the lawns of Prateeksha!

Wel love you, always — in eavery incarnation of yours — nana, actor, thinker — every single one of them.

Hope you sleep well, our angel.

    Love and regards,

    Jasmine J

  18. Daisy M says:

Apologies for any repetition, but think these two fell of the end of the previous DAY

Rochelle 452, Renate 458, Sharmila 471… just back from work, and delighted the kitty party is so far advanced :) Of course we need Renate’s kitten to help trash the joint. My Bengal will teach him some good cute biting tricks too!

But not sure if Shanouk would really have the moxy to preside over nine cats and a kitten! I know he’s a Bachchan, and can therefore defend himself against a hundred human combatants at once, but hadn’t we better warn him about the uncanny powers of the cat!! :) Mr Bachchan, kindly adjudicate on this ticklish question!

    With love from Daisy

Manish Parmar 520 You are so right about the destruction of the forests in Madagascar, through slash and burn farming and a whole range of cash crops. As you say, several of these - like sisal and palm oil trees - are intended to help the West pursue eco friendly policies, but are damaging the immediate environment in Madagascar. It is an extremely worrying state of affairs, and I am sure I will witness such sights during my rapidly approaching trip to the island.

    With love from Daisy

  19. rochelle says:

No apologies necessary but instead thank you for this connection at this very late hour when you have to be up so soon and after such a busy day.
Actually, this post is higly informative about your releases and promotions coming up. I think sometimes in your wonderful personal blogs, we are left wondering about these kinds of practical issues. Then you must see all the questions from the EF regarding dates and facts. I don’t know what “What’s your Rashee” is though I probably should.
It’s great to see that more of your family is coming together.
I’m looking forward to September 28th and onwards for the music and promotions for ‘Aladin’. At least Yom Kippur won’t be all bad.
I will visit the ‘Teen Patti’ site a little later. I must leave my apartment now since I’ve been home all this summerlike day busy with getting my super to tend to many needs here including a sink with pipes full of cat litter after one of them decided to use it as a litter box. This has forced me to actually clean my apartment ! (I did spend some time at the beach.)

Sleep well under the covers and good luck with the promo shoot.
    Love,
    Rochelle

  20. Ashutosh Sharma says:

  22. MANOJ KUMAR OJHA, HASSI MESSOUAD, ALGERIA says:

Sirji…what a beautiful small post…soccer with Agasthya….picking mami from Airport….and finally wrap up with clarifications…Sirji…don’t play with your health…just 3 hrs sleep..its not enough..take proper minimum 6 hrs sleep.
    Concern about your health.

    With love and warm regards,

    MANOJ KUMAR OJHA

  23. Rajesh (Bucks, UK) says:

Sometimes we think children have no manners but we forget that they are being direct, honest and questioning as it is rather than twisting and turning which we do when we grow up. I am glad you are getting to spend some quality time with Navya and Agastya. These simple pleasures are what makes life so beautiful.
Goodluck for the shoot in Khapoli. Thanks for clarifying on the release schedules for Teen Patti, Aladin and Rann.
Looks like your hectic schedule and less sleep pattern is creeping in but please do look after your health.
    Best Wishes
    Rajesh

    Dearest Amitji,

It always great pleasure to be with kids and see their kidsh mentality. Whatever they do amuse me and gives immense pleasure which cant be expressed ! Only it needs to be experienced….. When the kids laugh or say hi, they do without any selfish thought or without any expectations - Clear mind with so much joy to be with them. I agree what u say about kids…. I totally agree with what you have said in one word, “Simple pleasures of life. Yet nothing that can be substituted by the time spent with the little ones”….

I will definately go this http://www.teenpattithemovie.com to know more about teenpatti movie. Amitji, please take care of your health and make sure that you have enough sleep.

  28. Satyam says:

I did in fact see the Teen Patti website earlier courtesy of Fatima. And it’s a great site. You have an amazing number of releases lined up. Younger stars would be envious.

Do you know why you have so little time to sleep? Because you saw the interminably long What’s your rashee! Epic ambitions and therefore epic length ought not to occur without epic subjects!

  29. Akash Verma says:

    Dear Sir,

  41. Jasmine Jaywant says:

Just wanted to add: no need to apologize to us, Amitji. We understand you perfectly. We are as content with this post — which I don’t think was “impersonal”, by the way. Short, yes, sweet, oh yes, impersonal — NO) — as we are with your multi-page ones. The amount you do manage to write to us and connect with us is phenomenonal. Who could ask for anything more???

Also, you playing with Agastya and Navya made me think of my father with my sons when they were little — my father’s was Scrabble, he started them on it when they were three or four, and he was happiest when he lost to one of his grandsons!

Indeed, children are wise beyond their size and our percpeption of them — absolutely without a doubt. My younger one would come out with some priceless gems — usually as advice for me — and I used to say, “Yes, father.” He would seem so wise and sound so grown up that I always told him that he was not my son, he was my father!

Enjoy these years, Amitji, they are so precious. And they are gone in a wink.

Please convery our love to the gorgeous mami, our beloved Aishwarya.

May God bless you and your family, and always keep you all happy.

    Jasmine J

  52. Jasmine of London says:

Apologies are never required dearest Mr. Bachchan, especially when you are having so much fun! Simple pleasures are indeed the most enjoyable and memorable, somehow the company of lively children makes it so! Yes children are particularly perceptive with a keen understanding of things we would not dream they identify with! It is almost impossible to actually have fun with them anymore when they shrug off teasing and trick questions with a nonchalant expression….You might be better off teasing Shanouk by the sounds of it, bless him!!

Thank you for the information about the forthcoming releases, I was actually thinking about Teen Patti today since that was the most anticipated for me - the London/Cambridge shoot etc - and I tried to Google a release date, with no luck. Will visit the website in the morning from work and most certainly feed back.. As if there were any doubt!

The very best of luck for the promo shoot tomorrow; although you are rapidly becoming a ‘regular’ with them and of course won’t need it.. But yes, sleep would be conducive to your productivity, not to mention that all important healthy glow for the camera!

Thank you for the post, you are not obliged to write especially when you are so busy, but your dedication does not go unnoticed by us and is certainly appreciated.

Goodnight Mr. Bachchan, sweet dreams and grab all the extra moments of sleep you can!

    With much love,

    Jasmine

  53. Ami Bachchan says:

    Hi Ami,

Well looks like I am the 1st one today, I really hope I am so at least you would read my comment, as the comment I posted yesterday was never posted and the one before that too.

U asked for a response for ” When life is full of so many approvals, which is the approval that you have approved to be the best ? ” and I answered. But today when I see, I don’t see my response anywhere and yesterday when I posted my response it said I was the 9th person and today among - 583 comments I don’t see my comment. And wht puzzles me is why waz my answer not posted , as I did not type anything controvertial , it was just my answer.

U ask a question and when I answer it is not posted and then wonder why should I even bother to answer yeh ?

Anyways, guess I will just stop putting in my comments here, wazz the use yeh when it is not displayed .

However, I really commend that you still take the time to write and publish a post, even with u have such a busy schedule and when u r only goin to get 3 hrs of sleep.

Guess wht, u enthusiasum has got me going too and so now even I publish one post everyday, unlike only difference I need to come up with a topic for the day, which I have a hard time doing :-(, as people won’t be interested in knowing wht I did the whole day, though we are all very interested in what happens in the day of a big celebrity like you :-)

    U keep well,
    My daughter’s Ami Bachchan

Thank you for writing about you and your family’s day and updating us on your new film releases.. I will need to wait a little longer I guess to see them on DVDs, but I do not mind that at all. I like the intimate way and attention that only viewing new film on home TV makes possible to experience…

  68. Tehreem (UK) says:

We all wonder what would be possible if we could press a button and stop time? With time stopped we would be able to squeeze as much pleasure out of every morsel of food, every touch of love, find pleasures of nature through an awe inspiring sunrise. These are things that most of us rush through in life, because we’re too busy, or off chasing the next best thing. We never find the next best thing, because we’re always searching, instead of appreciating all the pleasures that life has already laid out for us.
Thank you for bringing our notice towards life’s little pleasures… so true.

So, who did finally win the soccer game?

    Good night.

    Love & prayers

  69. sillyscientist says:

No apologies needed! Instead, thank YOU for connecting with us.

Enjoyed reading about your simple pleasures that keeps you ticking which in turn keeps us ticking.

I find myself quite disturbed after being accused by one of my good friends of always taking things at face value, of not reading between the lines. We had been discussing Indian history and … O well! All I can say is that when the author himself/herself accepts or denies some incident or clarifies a situation how then do I go ahead and read between the lines? Her position being that ‘nobody in their right mind would confess to a wrong doing in their autobiography.’ I am not looking for an answer from you, I am just sending this question out to the vastness of the cyberspace and wondering if I have been seeing life as an illusion, in one dimension, reminds me of that song by Joni Mitchell, can’t remember the name though, except that it was sad. It said something about not knowing life at all and just remembering life’s illusions.

    Will check Teenpatti’s website.

    loveyou

  70. Vinita S, in UK says:

    Dear AB

Saw the website ofr 3patti, its cool. The story reminded of the english movie with the similar theme -”21″ i guess this movie is inspired from it. I hope it is as exciting thriller like “21″. Btw interesting starcast along with the new faces will make it a crowd puller.
All the best for its release.

  75. Jasmine Jaywant says:

Amitji, also want to share with you and with our FmXt that Diwali is going to be celebrated at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Friday, October 2, between 6a:30 and 8:30 p.m. The museum’s Multicultural Audience Development Initiative has organised this, and there is a half page ad in India Abroad, the weekly newspaper we have subscribed to for the past 25 years to keep abreast of the happenings in India as well as within the South Asian diaspora in North America.

I’m sure the Museum has reasons for doing this so much earlier than the actual Diwali day which is on Oct. 17th this year. The availability of space, maybe? In any case, it would not make any sense to have it on the actual day itself, as this festival is traditionally celebrated within confines of our homes — where Ganesh and Lakshmi pooja needs to take place — and with our families. I know in India, there is no tradition of celebrating the festival on any other day except the one on which it falls in any given year, but Christmas parties here start around the end of November. Things are changing within the Indian community here as well, and the fact that the festivals often fall on week-days, when the children have to go to school and the adults to work, necessitates the celebrations on a convenient week-end.

Multicuturalism and diversity are huge at this point of time in my part of the world, and is being promoted within every institution — including the White House. It is stressed continually in my academic curriculum, in every course I take. Counselors are urged to be culturally sensitive and aware, and it is actually one of the core competencies of the profession.

So, I really admire and appreciate the initiative of the Met, even though I will not be able to go. Rochelle?

    Sincerely,

    Jasmine J

    That WASN’T ‘impersonal’…
THAT WAS SPECTACULAR! I love it when you tell us stuff like that!

  111. Valorie Adams says:

Okay, this is PERFECT timing! “HE” is going to sleep now! I wanted to leave this poem for MR. VISHAN LAL but didn’t know quite WHEN to do it…

***DEAR MR. VISHAN LAL - You asked me to write a poem about ‘Music’ …
I sat and thought about ‘music’… what is it? It is commonly perceived as what comes out of the car radio or what is played by symphonies, etc… But, my brain is just not normal…I guess… I just kept hearing ’sounds’… I couldn’t stop thinking about all the ’sounds’ that I associate with India. Now, please keep in mind, the only things I know about your Beloved India are the things I see in movies and read in books… WITH THAT IN MIND, please forgive me if I have written something that is incorrect or inappropriate. I wrote this with the UTMOST respect and admiration for ALL of my Indian EF…

***What are two of the most common threads in the fabric that is India? Spirituality and “Maa”…that’s my perception, anyway… I ask that you don’t just READ this poem… LISTEN and HEAR all the sounds I put there for you…

    ***I am just a little nervous, here… I hope you like it…

    “MUSIC” by Valorie Adams

A great thick braid of raven hair
swishes back and forth across her frame…
She’s only got her child in mind
today “Maa” is her only name.

    Payal quietly jingling as
bare feet run through the street ~
There is illness in her home and this
    her only hope to defeat.

She quickly runs up all the steps
bangles clink as she bends down…
Fingers touch the sacred place, then heart ~
This Maa seeks just one sound.

And when she rings that mandir bell
her tears begin to fall like rain…
Chiffon rustles as she falls to her knees
“Bhagavan, please make my child well again.”

Faith in God and a Mother’s love ~
Without them the country’s not whole…
These sounds of a young Mother praying
are the music of India’s soul.

    Ohhhhhhh - please like it…….please please please…

  112. Renate says:

    Daisy M, Sharmila and Rochelle,

Do you think if Shanouk dressed up in his master’s Lion King costume, he would be alright? No doubt he will look regal. And if he is willing to toss his plastic bottle around, my kitty will be in heaven.

Dear Daisy, I am sorry I accused you of ’scolding’, of course you are way too nice to scold Mr. AB.

    Love,

Teen Patti website looks awesome, seems like a very interesting movie, and a very different one too. I saw the crew and read about them individually, most of them seems pretty fresh and with new innovative ideas, I am sure this movie will be a super hit.

Thank you for clearing that PAA and Teen Patti are not coming together. Dont want the movies made with so much hard work to go wasted by wrong decisions on promotions and wrong release date selections.

Eagerly waiting for Aladin, the promos look very good and you are looking just awesome and mind blowing.

  116. rochelle says:

Having returned from the Coney Island boardwalk where a line of clouds got in the way of a nice sunset, I opened up the Teen Patti website. I love the music and how the arrow turns into one of the suits on the cards. I did not read the synposis because I like to be somewhat surprised when I see a new film. This has become more difficult the more I read interviews and articles about films coming out. I’ve read people comparing it to the film ‘21′ but as usual, I’ve never seen it. Maybe I can get my father to see it since he likes to play cards in casinos. Off to the gym and hopefully one of your films on DVD.

    Love,
    Rochelle

    Jasmine J,
Hi. I went to the Met’s Diwali celebration last year and had a good time. This year I already bought my opening night ticket to the Coney Island Film Festival that night. Too bad you can’t go. I think it was early last year too.

  117. PB a fan in Texas says:

    Dear Amitabhji,

Dutifully went to look at the Teen Patti website, and found it alluring. I really liked the graphics.

On a more frivolous level, I love your look in that movie. It reminds me of my absolutely most favorite picture of you from day 457 of your blog (4th picture down), where you are sitting on what looks to be a brown couch and looking up at us through those cute little specs.

    Très, très adorable!

Or, as I would say to Valorie, HOT, HOT HOT!!!!

    Frivolously yours,

    Phyllis

Hope ur shoot goes off well wishing u a peaceful day, love

  120. Dharmendra Singh says:

Amitji, there is no need for any apologies as you do need rest. It is good to hear that Ash has come home and Agastya would have some time to tease and play with her “mami”.
All the best for you shoot and by the way, the releases of the three films are great.
I am hoping mad to see them all as they come out.
Regards to you and the Bachchan family.

  121. Aishwarya, TVM. says:

    Dear Amitji,

What an action-packed day! That u chose to write abt the soccer game first shows where ur priority lies and rightly so. Now only if someone had kicked Shanouk’s plastic bottle for him too.:)

Hope the ‘meticulous’ meeting goes well. Colors do seem to be sticklers for perfection. Can get a little tiresome trying to please the kind.

Visited the Teen Patti website. Looked gripping and scary! I like the name Venkat. So finally, its Aladin on Oct 30, Paa on Dec 4, Rann in Jan 2010, and Teen Patti’s date unannounced. I am looking forward to Paa. Thats sounds like my kinda movie. My hubby wd like Teen Patti. My daughter is already charmed by Aladin. So there’s one for all!

Rann must be the one based on the media. Hope RGV gets it right this time.

    It was a perfect post.

    Sleep well,

    Hugs,
    Aish.

  122. Nici - Australia says:

Amitji.. I have adored you so much.. i know you might not get time to read all the comments that you get for your articles. Well, had a question for you in case if you get chance to read. Looking at your get up of Paa, it seems it is inspired by the movie ‘The curious case of benjamin button’; I would love to hear ‘No, it is not’. As I am still waiting to see some originality in the indian movies. After madhubala, Jayaji is my fav actress; I wish I could meet you all. You are a lovely family all together.

  123. DR M C THOMAS says:

    The Rich Man and Lazarus

“There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried (and was carried- bound by death-angels to hell ). And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’
“Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets(Bible); let them hear them.’ And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’”
    Luke 16:19-31
One who understands this while living, is indeed blessed!

  124. Sharmila says:

    Dear Lion King,

Thank you for the blog despite your lack of sleep. Be well rested and good luck with the shoot. Glad you are able to spend time with the grand children. Daisy , Rochelle , Renate and I had better ideas to entertain Mr Shanouk and he need not worry about that plastic bottle anymore. We were thinking of hosting a kitty party or a more formal banquet for all our cats ( 9 in total from the EF ) and invite Mr Shanouk to be the MC. I am sure he will look so regal in this position and to preside over 9 kitties will be a delight for him. The plastic bottle will be long forgotten.

Looking forward to scrutinizing the website shortly, cannot wait for all your movies to be out. I better not be confused with the dates.
Nice to hear Aishwarya is back and I cannot tell you how excited I am about Endhiran, I am sure the entire tamil nadu too awaits the release.

    Waiting for your regal roar

    xoxoxoxoxo

    Hi Amitji,
Sharing with you EF,the simple joys that give you so much pleasure….. games with the grand kids, shanouk’s pranks , driving to the airport with the kids to pick up Aishwarya….. snatching a few moments in between your FULL DAY to be in touch with us isn’t this how we all connect as the EF
    Enjoy the family togetherness!
    Love
    # Valorie,
In our south asian culture, , each relation is given a specific title which indicates the exact nature and order of maternal ,paternal ties, by blood or marriage!!
‘Mami” here refers to Aishwarya “aunt” Abhishek ‘uncle”‘ is “MAMA’ to the kids ( their mother’s brother!!)

Not too complicated , once one gets the hang of it .
    Bye

  132. Jasmine Jaywant says:

Amitji is fast asleep (or maybe he is up, after sleeping for 3 hours!) — Good morning Amitji!

And good morning to my lovely friends of the EF. Srinivas #12: I can feel your pain as you write about your mother, who left this world at such a young age, can see how much you miss her, and want to give you a hug. Such mein, “Woh hote hain kismat wale, jin’ke ma hoti hai” (Blessed are those who have a mother). We don’t know God’s designs, why He does things that we don’t understand — like taking away lovely, good people too early — but we have to live with His decision. Think of al lthe good times you had with her and be happy. She is looking at you from heaven and showering her love and blessings upon you.

Ami Bachchan #53: I’m sorry your comment vanished, I know it is so frustrating. It happens sometimes, it has happened to a lot of us on the blog, including to me. You may not have been no. 1 numerically today, but that it okay. I know Amitji reads your comments, as he reads every single one his FmXt writes. He has said that it is not improtant to be first, as long as we are there. I am glad you write, I always read your comments.

Sharmila, Rochelle, Daisy M and Renate: I must say I’m thoroughly enjoying all the planning of the feline party, with the Royal Canine Shanouk as Chief Guest! Send pictures after the event!

To all those in slumberland: Jago sone walon, subah ho gayi! Archana, Sanjith, Vijaya, Mousumi, Abhaya, AZ, Rupam, Mukul.

AZ — how are you feeling? It seems you missed my enquiry about your health a couple of days ago. I pray for your quick recovery and good health, my fellow Jaipurwala. Jaldi se achche ho jao.

Hello to Lakshmi Jag, Manoj Ojha, Aishwarya, Manish Parmar, Anat Magen, Hend Adel, Saroj, G.A. Patel, Rose, Sharmishtha, PB, Tehreem, Jasmine of London — and Sudhir (welcome back!)

    Love, everyone.

Sillyscientist 69 I think you mean the song BOTH SIDES NOW.

    It IS lovely!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcrEqIpi6sg

Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
    And feather canyons ev’rywhere
I’ve looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on ev’ryone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
    Its cloud illusions I recall
I really dont know clouds at all

Moons and Junes and ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As ev’ry fairy tale comes real
I’ve looked at love that way

But now it’s just another show
You leave ‘em laughing when you go
And if you care, don’t let them know
    Don’t give yourself away

I’ve looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
    It’s loves illusions I recall
I really don’t know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say I love you right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I’ve looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I’ve changed
Well something’s lost, but something’s gained
    In living ev’ry day

I’ve looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
    Its life’s illusions I recall
I really dont know life at all
I’ve looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
    Its life’s illusions I recall
I really dont know life at all

Love it. What a lovely word picture. I was wondering all along what it had to do with music, but you have tied it so beautifully at the end — the music of India. Wah wah (equivalent to Bravo!), kya baat kahi hai (what a thing you said!).

Your Muse inspires you to come up with wonderful words and images and thoughts. Keep up the good work. I always wait for your poem and the update on the movie you watch every night!

I’ve been reading a lot about favorite songs and about Kishore Kumar on blog comments lately, so I just have to pitch my pitiful little two cents worth about Hindi movie songs (’cause my knowledge is not that extensive) and say that this is so far my most absolute favorite Kishore Kumar song!

    Music IS a universal language!

    Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si

Thank you for the updates about the time of release of your upcoming films. Iam looking forward for all of them. Only I feel sorry that I will not be able to watch them on the big screen since no cinema house is showing any of them here in Egypt. But I will certainly be looking for a DVD copy of them and I will also visit the website of Teen patti.

Thank you for your quick hello and for the short post for today. There isn’t any need for any apology Mr.B. we certainly appreciate your connection at such a late hour and we do understand your need for some essential rest and sleep for the shoot tomorrow. i wish these few hours will provide you with sufficient and peaceful sleep, and I wish you all best of luck with the shoot of the song promo for Colors.

    Good morning,
As advised by you, I just visited the website of Teen Patti. It is real real classy… first it has only grey, black and red…second the music is mysterious, yet very snazzy… third the computer symbols have been brilliantly modified into figures from the world of cards… fourth your photo is real good.
So Sir, you have my approval… just a pun carried over from my comments in response to your blog yesterday.
Ok… and I shall not sympathise with you for keeping late hours.. because you had once explained that shoots / dubbing etc are preferred at night … so I am glad that you are actively involved back in your professional world… and that is what friends are for
How I wish I could be the little boy in Bhootnath, so I could enjoy the company of the legendary superstar…
So , have a great and successful day… and the hat trick now … could I leave a birthday card for you at Sopaan? On, second thoughts, I fully appreciate your inability to respond to us… so I think I will ask the guard myself and he in turn will ask Mr. Manager, if he is there… so , i will figure it out myself
Bye … tum jeeyo hazaaron saal , saal ke din ho pachas hazaar

Simple pleasures of life are so easily available around us. One doesn’t have to spend a lot of money, efforts or follow a bromidic process to relish these pleasures.

I hope you would have had sound sleep for three hours. What a calculated sleep? Kindly share your head shoot of sleep deprived on following day, if possible. HaHa…

For last couple of days, we have been cleaning all possible garbage from our Garage, installed new Garage door opener on another door and organised whole lot of stuff such as hanging all bikes on ceiling hooks, installed hangers for step ladders etc. We are ready to park both cars in side Garage and it shall be PLEASURE driving out clean cars this winter straight out from Garage on snowy roads. This was first step towards preparation for winter.

    For EF’s info:
Khopoli (Marathi: खोपोली) is an Industrial City in the Khalapur taluka of Raigad district, in the Indian state of Maharashtra, at the base of the Sahyadri mountains, in the Patalganga river valley and about 80 km south of Mumbai bears the name Campolee in British records. The tank by the side of the historical Shankar Temple is known as Kakan Talav. The ghat from Khopoli to Khandala is called Bor Ghat.

    Dear Valorie Adams (# 111)

I was just going through the comments of dear EF and stopped going ahead after reading your poem on MUSIC. I was sure that something original will come out of you and yes this blend of Mother with Music is so great. I have passion of collecting quotations on Music but your poem has taken music to new heights.

Of course it is mother who instills music in the child by her sweet lullabies from the day one and later each action and each word of her becomes MUSIC not only for the child but to all around them.

I got more than what I had expected. I am sure all members of EF will endorse my comments. No need to feel nervous now. As a gift to your efforts, I send you my heartfelt good wishes and GOD’s CHOICEST BLESSINGS.

I hope you must be enjoying lessons on Mami and Ma by EF !!!

Thank you once again. I am grateful that you kept your words. I did not have to go for a reminder. It came too soon and so nicely.

    With warm personal regards,

I really mean that - your opinion means everything to me… I am so grateful.

Post Script: I am afraid as I told you earlier, the poetic mood does not remain for long.. and the thoughts which were present have not been captured as well as they should have been.. this happens when there is a gap in thought and action.. I know it too well as many a times I have found it in my writings.. thoughts are running too fast.. and fingers fail to capture and execute them.. sometimes a complete phrase and many a times a complete word and often the missing letters have all been part of kit which would be far too obvious to someone who understands the language..

No complaints.. though I do not mind complaining to myself about my own self.. I do it often.. it is not always too much of analysis.. sometimes it could even be a synthesis..

PS I have reinserted the last mail of yesterday over here.. for I do wish that more people get to read it.. and forgive me for my inability to reciprocate everyone’s love that keeps pouring - Srinivas, Saro and Mukul Bangalore Walay, Lottus, I know you and Sudhir told you are actually Pankaj Shrivastav.. and the rest of you whom this old man might have still missed my sincere apologies.. yet the opening poem I wrote yesterday night in its last line expresses that I remember everyone and there is no tax on that..

    Namaskaar Amitji,
I visited the link you posted and loved what I saw!
The spade cursor is cute. And, of course, the synopsis is excellent! Both you and Sir Ben are living legends, and are phenomenal in your craft.
Now I’m looking forward to the release of ‘Teen Patti’ with even greater anticipation. A math genius, now…really! And here I am battling with math because I was refused the teaching job I am really good at! (My lips are not long enough).
But my math is good enough for me to say very explicitly that the number 3 is not so good when talking about a night’s sleep.
Please take care of yourself, Amitji, get enough sleep, and remember that we love you.
I suppose almost everyone has said this to you tonight!
    Lots of love,
    Leela
I love you and look forward to meeting you.

    Dear Mr. Bachchan,

Thank you for the post in spite of a busy day and night. It proves that you genuinely care for your FmXt.

Agastya must have enjoyed the game of soccer more than you. And the return of the mami must have made the kids happier. BTW where is the mama?

I visited the Teen Patti site and found it to be one of the best movie sites I have ever seen. The design, the style and presentation were top class. From the synopsis, the subject of the movie too seems to be interesting. And very novel for Hindi cinema. Looking forward to the release.

Wishing you the best for your forthcoming releases.

    Regards,

    Melwyn

  194. Abhaya says:

    Respected Brother
    Sadar Charan Sparsh

I return immediately after serving the baasi post.. like baasi eid.. yet I know there is no harm.. this post was wrietten in th very-very late hours and some people like me.. who do not return to previous day.. nothing wrong in that.. beeti tahi bisaar de aage ki sudhi leya.. The imperative here is not for seeking their approval.. the implementation was for more f them to know me little better.. to know me with all my limtations.. to understand that I have no one reason to remember few and forget the new.. to be able to give an assurance to you that you still indeed are the central character of this blog.. that it is because of my love for you that I too have got some love from not alone you but hunfreds of the ones who are just like me..

I think and strongly feel that your blog is more of a temple or a mosque or even a church where we all go with some faith on our mind.. with some ways to express ourselves unto you as we would have probably done to some we think of as God..

Now Rochelle, even if god does not exist.. I would still look for him.. I would still go some distance in search of him.. no, no not to just pray and seek his blessings alone.. I need to thank him for inspiration to write here on this blog.. to be able to express thanks to all his creations in me and you and the loving human beings that are coming here too..

Even if God does not exist.. I do not mind to believe in him.. for simple belief in him raises the love factor in me.. the belief in him drives me forward to be a better human being.. the same belief helps me in treating myself and others with little more dignity.. we may or may not hae been his creations.. despite being a scientist I still can not answer some vwery fundamental questions where did we all come from.. whether a man or a woman emerged on this beautiful earth.. whether it was the hen or was it the egg that really came first.. whether we all came in our original shapes or we were evolutionary burst..like they say that we are the descendants of the monkeys.. is there any input that could go and prove it.. prove how really life came to earth.. water they say was a molecule of life.. and so did they find it on the moon’s surface yesterday.. why on moon no life existed.. what went where when big bang drifted.. no my dear friend.. I am not here to argue or try convert you.. that would be the last thing that Abhay would ever do..

I know you have faith.. even if you express it other way.. the moment you act in a certain way and not otherwise atleast I know that you have faith in being human and t live like humans.. yet many a greats commit some silly mistakes..
Everybody knows that life is short.. and we do not know if get it once more.. still we talk of rebirths and the sort.. oh! what unnecessary argument I have got into with someone I really love.. no, there is no condition in my mnd that I shall love only those who love me.. that is should talk of only those who talk of me.. I know I can not reply to everyone I love.. so I tell my God to tell them such (the english as well as hindi such)..

Bhaai, if I have been unkind, unfair or unpleasnt to anyone I know I am a simple human being first.. like all others I too have my own share of bad and or even good luck.. what constitutes luck.. why we all have different fate.. why are some born as cats and some are born to love the cats.. Daisy M is smiling she has recently adopted the big cat her dream.. and that she thinks that it is the tiger in you.. (sorry.. sorry.. for going into the secret desires of others..).. why do we desire anyone eh.. and why do we desire different things too.. Will it be ever possible for a man to know what is good for one may be bad for some.. They say one man’s meat is another man’s poison.. or some such things..

I know Rochelle is fuming over me.. for my bullish remarks.. dear it is not directed unto you.. I was just talking to my ownself rather than anyone of you..

Yeah! I realise it has not come good.. we should not ask questions which we can not answer.. we should not raise doubts that can never be cleared.. we should simply survive and continue to live the way we have been living this life.. no attachments.. no affection.. no passions.. and definitely no obsessions for anything we like..

I come to an abrupt end.. yet I shall not deprive the ones who love music and love it too well.. they are right.. music is really a thing to love..

    Mian pyaar ka raahi hoon
    teri julf ke saaye mein
    kuchh der thahar jaaoon..

    Tum ek musafir ho
    kab chhoD ke chal doge
    yeh soch ke ghabaraoon..

    Ma pyaar ka raahi hoon..

Sorry folks I could not get a link to this original song on youtube.. here is a link for it.. it just shows Rafi and Asha.. thatis good enough for people like me..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSB0KrXLdN4&feature=fvw

( Dedicating to my friend Rochelle.. (who writes here a lot) and Gisele Barbosa.. (who never writes here..) I know they would not understand.. why!! they don’t know Hindi..)

Daisy M, Rochelle, Sharmila & all ye cats,

I am told that Daisy with 2, Rochelle with 5, Sharmila with 2 tuxedos thats 12 cats in all are planning to raid the lawns of Prateeksha!!

If you are doing that, please bring a zoologist along with you to monitor the situation.

Speaking for myself, I love cats only when they wear jeans and walk on two legs. I make no bones about that.

I had a trying day watching over the master while he was playing soccer yesterday with little Agastya. Every time the leather ball went past him, the master would rock like the leaning tower of Pisa and I would hold my breath anxiously till he recovered his bearings!!! I had a dog’s day, if you don’t mind my saying so. I was so tired by the end of the day, I was talking to a plucked, headless chicken in my dream all night…

Anyway thats enough about me. For sport lovers, be it known that we have devised a new game if you are interested. Its a combination of baseball, cricket and soccer. In this, both teams are on the field with their full strength. One person throws the ball, another hits it and the rest of them play soccer to bring it upto the base, while the striker keeps running till that happens… as this can take time, cheerleaders are required to wear shoes with springs on the heels in order to reduce fatigue…

    Till later, wow wow,

    Shanouk

    Dear Sir,
All the best for tomorrow’s shooting. Hope everything goes well… and every scene gets approved from the first shot. Insha’allah, both your upcoming releases ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Rann’ would be super duper hits…!!!
Had a quick check through the “Teen Patti” website! The layout is fantastic! Can’t wait for the movie to be released! You as a Math genius… sounds quiet intriguing! Bet no one will be able to carry out the role as good as you. Ben Kingsley adds an extra dash of excitement! Two legends vis-a-vis…. a spectacle not to be missed…!!!
Take good care of yourself, Sir. Please, please, please… try to have enough rest. I admit, with all humility, it is an egoistic request. Yes, stay fit and healthy for our sake…

I finally got to watch ‘Khuda Ghawah’ and this has to be up there as one of my favorites. I’m just speechless right now. I just wish all those great songs had subtitles and I would have loved to have seen this one in a theater on a big screen. You were fantastic and never looked better.

I hadn’t realized how long it was so now I’ll get less than 4 hours sleep but it was well worth it.

For Rochelle … I loved Khudah Gawah and was frustrated by the lack of subtitles for the music. I ran into a couple of beautiful ladies from India when I was in Maine, and they agreed to come and see my Amitabh movies with me and translate the songs. We became great friends and later they would translate other songs for me via e-mail. You may be able to find some of the lyrics online; I did, and although it’s tricky to find the English translations, it’s possible to get them here and there. If I knew how to reach you I’d definitely send them to you but as you know we can’t know each other’s e-mails. Anyway, wasn’t it a terrific picture? I watch it from time to time.

    My dearest Mr. Bachchan,

You apologise for this ‘impersonal’ content today??? I think it was anything but that!! How endearing to hear you speak of and describe these precious moments you spend with your grandchildren! Yes, you are right - kids have a uniqueness which never fails to amaze the elders…..which is why I suppose they say that Child is the Father of Man…and in hindi, it is said that ‘Chela apne Guru se dus kadam aage hota hai!” And Shanouk….I think the plastic water bottles are a great favourite with canines. Most who happen to be a part of my friends’ families show similar preferences!

Good to know that PAA and Teen Patti will have individual releases! Not that I understand why they shouldn’t be released on the same day, but if it is good from the business point of view, then I am happy for you! And thank you for giving us the link for TP’s website…will surely visit there and let you know. And with Aishwarya home too, I guess the family is more or less together again, isn’t it - what about Abhishek, when is he due back home? Hope it is going to be soon enough!

Wishing you all togetherness always, with peace, happiness and abundance too!

    # Holy Prostitute #

    P.L.CHOPRA”Naseem”. (1906-1970)

Today is a local red letter day. The festival of
the Holy Prostitute will be held at her shrine
and all young women who were married this
year will assemble there to invoke her blessings for a long
and happy married life, just as all other married women of
the locality have done before them year after year.
On the Holy Prostitute’s day all new wives put on
their bridal clothes and jewellery and bedeck themselves
in the gayest fashion and go out barefooted all the way
from the city to do homage to their sister of revered
memory. The pageant of the brides is led by elderly women
to what is known as the sanctuary of the shrine in which
the annual ceremony is held. The older woman cannot
gain admittance into the sanctuary on pain of ill-luck
overtaking their married life. In fact, no married women
can enter that place more than once in her lifetime and
entry therein of widows and unmarried girls is absolutely
forbidden. Men, however, have free ingress and egress,
this being about the only place where a mixed meeting
can be held. Otherwise, according to the local custom,
men and women have no social intercourse.
The ceremony of invocation is a short but impressive
one. It is held after the sun has set but while there is still
daylight. The young ladies arrange themselves in a circular
formation round the alter and light camphor lamps in brass
plates which have been specially polished for the occasion.
The offerings consist of saffron, fruit and sweets. The
congregation marches round the alter in a rhythmic
movement while the camphor lamps are swayed in a semi ecstatic
mood. To the tinkling of the bells tied to the ankles
of the worshippers, there arises a low but melodious chant
of hymns to the Holy Prostitute. When the young ladies
have completed seven circuits they prostrate themselves
on the floor of the sanctuary and in this attitude of humility
say their prayers. After the prayers are concluded, the ladies
arise, place their brass plates along with the camphor lamps
and the offerings on the altar and retire through the door
from which they entered, singing praises of the Holy
Prostitute. They sprinkle scented water and throw rose
petals on one another as they emerge out of the sanctuary.
Outside, they are met by the older women who were
waiting for their return and are welcomed and
congratulated on the successful completion of the
ceremony. There is great rejoicing and the women forming
themselves into a procession march out of the shrine
singing songs specially written for the occasion. The
men folk, who have by now left the shrine by another door,
join the party of women and after a short period of further
    rejoicing they disperse.
The origin of the ceremony is lost in antiquity. The
story of the Holy Prostitute is partially inscribed on a block
of white stone which is kept under lock and key by the
keeper of the shrine and is itself an object of great reverence.
All attempts at fixing the date of the inscription have proved
abortive and the present-day research has achieved nothing
beyond guessing what is obvious from the text itself, that
the inscription was not made contemporaneously with the
events which it records. The language used is far too primitive
to make a coherent reading and the names used contain so
many impossible consonants that the tongue cannot bear
the twist to pronounce them. The title or the inscription,
when translated, approximates to “Pious Script”. A detailed
examination of it is generally difficult because the keeper
allows “a special display of the Pious Scripts” (as he puts it)
for a price which is commensurate with the pocket of the
visitor and the duration of time for which the “display” is
given. And the keeper is very greedy, though, I think, not
without reason, because such “special displays” are his
    only means of subsistence.
The story inscribed in stone has, however, been pieced
together by a local archaeologist and a translation of it is
hung in the library room of the shrine. Here is what the
    inscription says:-
Our prince had fought long and fought well. But
presently he found himself outnumbered and outflanked.
Being surrounded, he had to flee for life leaving his
daughter his brother’s daughter and his sister’s daughter,
behind. The invading horde soon marched into our ancient
city and converted all women and children into slaves.
The men had fled. Three princesses whom none could
excel in beauty and in virtue found themselves at the mercy
of the victors. They took their chance and left the city. But
the fame of their beauty traveled quicker than their horses.
The victorious General and his two lieutenants soon swore
that they would capture the princesses and put them “to
use” as they said. The pursuit was desperate. The
princesses had escaped by the road which leaves the North
gate of the city and they had only ridden some thirteen
miles when news reached were married to worthy princes.
The marriages were celebrated on the anniversary of the
day on which the two cousins had fled leaving the third to
her fate. In the evening, correct to the minute of their
parting four years previously, the two princesses went to
the shrine of the third and invoked her blessing for a long
    and happy married life.
In a postscript to the translation was added the
    archaeologist’s comment:-
And the ceremony which was followed on that occasion
has been kept undefiled even to this day.
According to the “Pious Script” the unfortunate
Princess had told her cousins “When you come back in
peaceful times you will hear the whole story.” And that
roused my curiosity. Where was “the whole story?” I
asked almost everyone in the neighborhoods, including
the keeper of the shrine but no one was helpful. One
day, however, as I was despairing of solving the mystery,
I chanced upon the story in rather an accidental way. I
saw in the local second hand shop an old manuscript
with a moth-eaten binding. Being interested in antique
books I picked up the volume to have a look and lo the
book bore no other a title than “The murder of the young
woman in the shrine of the Holy Prostitute.” A rather
long and unimposing title, I admit, but, for me, it
contained a God-sent revelation. I purchased the book
for a trifle and sat down in the shop itself to read it
through. This amazed the shopkeeper but I was in no
    mood to observe etiquette.
The book was obviously written very long ago, as
the procedure followed in the murder trial which it
recounted, showed. Such a procedure finds no place in
comparatively recent law. Judicial conceptions followed and
the treatment of the case as a whole showed, however,
that the book need not necessarily be centuries old. The
prosecution and the defiance evidence, the plea of the
accused and the exhibits in the case, which included a
transliteration of the “Pious Script” were jumbled together,
followed by a lengthy, well-reasoned judgment. The
scheme of the book did not show whether its record was
chronological or was purposely edited for the convenience
of the reader. All the same, it made a fascinating reading.
I have since presented the book to the library attached to
the shrine of the Holy Prostitute.
For our present purpose it is unnecessary to cover
the whole ground traversed by the book. It would suffice
to give some salient extracts from the judgment. And here
they are - in translation, of course :
The three priests are charged with the murder of
the young woman in the small hours of the morning
following the festival of the Holy Prostitute. The two women
accused were charged with conspiracy and abetment of
murder. The victim died of a stab wound delivered at the
root of her neck on the left side. The weapon used was a
dagger, which has since been recovered and is an exhibit
before the court. According to the medical opinion the
death was instantaneous. The dead body was found in a
room attached to the shrine of the Holy Prostitute. This
room is known as the sanctuary. The youngest priest has
turned an approver and the other four accused have been
    tried.
The approver gives the main prosecution story. It
appears that the victim, who was at the time of murder
scarce past the age of puberty, was earmarked at her birth
by her parents for sacrifice to the Holy Prostitute. The
babies begotten by her parents did not outlive their infancy
and the unfortunate parents vowed that if this girl lived to
grow up, she would be “dedicated” to the Holy Prostitute
and dealt with “according to well-established custom and
ceremony.” In course of time the girl became propitious
sister of two handsome young brothers. Her parents have
    since died.
It is alleged that a similar murder took place twenty
seven years ago, but the evidence to prove this fact is
vague and inconclusive. There is strong popular feeling in
flavor of that accused but public sympathy only appears
to arise out of whimsical considerations.
On the evening of the festival of the Holy Prostitute,
the victim and the two women accused left the city through
the North gate on horsebacks and after they had ridden
some thirteen miles, they diverted their course to the byroad
which leads to the shrine of the Holy Prostitute. Near
the shrine the victim dismounted while her companions
    rode away.
A short while after the victim had left the city, with
the two women accused, the three priests started from
the city, also on horse backs, to pursue the three women.
They found one of them, vise, the victim, near the shrine
and caught hold of her. She was dragged into the room
known as the sanctuary. The dagger with which the poor
girl was done to death was then in her girdle.
Being securely lodged in the sanctuary the three
priests started a feast of reveling. A round of drinks formed
the beginning. The girl was forced to have a sip of the
liquor. She protested but without avail. Presently, she was
given another drink and then another. Soon she warmed
up and began drinking herself. The intoxication went to
her head and she began to drink freely. The three priests
also started a sort of drinking competition. As the feast
progressed the priests handled and mis-handled the girl
and drew her out “into a mood”. Before mid-night all were
flushed with liquor. The senior priest took the girl in his
lap. She resisted but for a while only. Soon she relaxed
herself in his arms with an abandonment which was more
eloquent than spoken consent. For the whole night the
priests spared neither the liquor nor the girl. At the
approach of the dawn all fell into a drunken sleep.
The approver was the first to get up. He woke the
other two priests. The girl was still fast asleep, or, at least,
so she appeared. The senior priest watched her for some
time. Then he did some deep thinking and soon acting, as
if in obedience to some inward light. He removed the dagger
from the waist of the girl, unsheathed it and stabbed the
sleeping wretch. She gave a long shriek, writhed in great
    pain and then died.
The first reaction of the priests to this foul deed was
one of horror but the instinct of self– preservation soon
guided them to hurry away from the scene of the
    occurrence.
The main prosecution story is not denied. The defenses
is an extraordinary one. It is alleged that the tragedy arose
out of the re-enacting of a drama which followed, in the
main, the events of which though history holds no record,
the folklore gives a true version. The victim represented the
princess who along with her two cousins, represented by
the two women accused, escaped from the city when an
invading army defeated the city’s ruler. The three princesses
were closely pursued with no honorable intentions by the
victorious General and his two lieutenants, represented in
the present case by the senior and the two junior priests. In
order to afford enough time to her cousins to escape, the
youngest princess decided to play the prostitute to the victors
to keep them busy. Without disclosing her intentions,
however, to her companions in flight, she stopped her horse
a little away from the place where her shrine now stands
and prevailed upon them to hurry away. She was soon
overtaken by the pursuers who took her to the hut which
stood nearby. There they forced her to drink and made her,
during the whole night, serve their purpose. The three priests
have enacted this part of the drama with a realism which
was brutal right from its inception to its execution. In the
morning the princess committed suicide by stabbing herself
    with her own dagger.
The plea of the accused is that the whole city knew
what fate awaited the victim. The senior priest says that
when he found that the girl had not “martyred herself”, he
only did what the girl should have done herself. A girl
dedicated to the Holy Prostitute could not live and go back
to the city and thus bring dishonors on herself and the
good name of the Holy Prostitute. The terrible vengeance
of the powers that be would have overtaken the whole
city, and who knows with what dire consequences?
The absurd beliefs of whimsical people not
withstanding, the murder is a foul one, thoroughly
    premeditated and cold blooded.
I have quoted enough from the judgment. And here
is a translation of the epitaph of the Holy Prostitute:-
Hear lies the princess who freely gave away what she
prized a million times more than her life: she gave away her
chastity in order to save the chastity and lives of her two
cousins. Having given away her chastity she found her life of
no avail and she gave away her life too. Such was her sacrifice.
And indeed, what a sacrifice! Well may the Holy
Prostitute live in the memory of her people. But why a
married woman cannot enter the sanctuary of her shrine
more than once in her life beats me completely. Maybe
    but who knows?

    Dear sir ,
    Here is one beautiful poem.

  226. MUKUL BUNGLORE WALAY says:

Dear Mere param Mitron ( Close friends)
On last Monday my tauji and taiji (father’s elder brother) came from Burnpur in Bengal.
We utilized that day by visiting three spots on Kanakapura road outskirts of Bangalore. We hired a Tavera and started off at 1300 hrs.
The first was a visit to the PYRAMID VALLEY A huge structure made of cement, with art work on the sides of the pyramid wall .It is the largest in Asian region. Length of 160ft and 110 ft height surrounded by trees and plants on a hilly place. A place worth visiting and especially for those who like meditation. Around 5000 people can sit for mediation inside the hall at a time.
Later we left for Guruvayur temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and similar rules applicable as that of the original one situated in Kerala. This was a very small temple situated beside a river with lotus plants blooming in the pond and surrounded by lush green plants. A very calm place as not many visitors were there
Next we headed to the “ART OF LIVING” a very huge campus founded by Sri Sri Ravishankar. As we walked on the beautiful pathway on a hilly region the clear view of the main meditation hall was visible. That was like a huge lotus flower in full bloom. But now it was dark and the full campus was lit by chain of lights making you feel in heaven. Chanting of shlokas could be heard from a far off assembly hall.
Unfortunately due to time constraints we had to cut short our visit and returned back home by 2200 hrs.

Just wanted to share of what i saw.

    Regards
    Mukul

  239. ROHIT SHARMA says:

Dear Sir, In fact this is my 16 th attempt of asking the same question and i wonder if ever i wud get a yellow band.
    Dear Sir,
First of all i would like to thank you for regularly posting on this blog giving us a chance to interact with you. I have lot of intuitiveness for asking some questions about your past which i am writing now :
Sir,in fact i have been your admirer for a long long time. From my childhood memories i still remember when you were injured during shooting of movie Coolie. The whole nation felt a blow and every one was concerned and worried about your health. In fact my cousin sis not only used to weep but she went to a temple and prayed for you and offered bribe to the god that she would keep n number of fasts in lieu of your comeback.Since I was a kid so all this made a permanent impression on me in believing that you are a cult, heavenly figure who can never do wrong and is invincible. After that i started tracking each and every info about you.
By grace of god you made a comeback and gave several hits to the movie industry. And then you launched AB CORP,arranged a Miss WORLD Pageant but unfortunately things didn’t work financially and it was a big big disaster.I was shocked to read that all so called near and dear ones with whom you had worked tried avoiding you and such worst situation came that your house was about to be auctioned. Now this is something which is unjustified, people with whom not only you worked but made them earn a lot of money through your acted movies, how could they shirk a celebrity like you in lean times ?????????????Amazing human nature ????????????????
But rightly you again bounced back with help of some real helpful friends. And in fact after that you shut down every critic’s mouth and your celebrity status reached an all time high which is still unparalleled.Nothing could have pleased me better than seeing whole world admiring you. SIR, now i would like to seek answers to some thoughts that have been hovering on my mind regarding your lifespan :
    1) Right from Breach candy hospital ( coolie’s accident) to AB Corp’s failure did you feel dejected by almighty and people around you.One day a cult figure close to being worshiped and the next day same person’s house on the verge of being put on auction.DISASTER.
2} I am sure that After you successfully came back the same people who tried to avoid you earlier during lean times might have again started hovering around you for financial gains. So did you adept policy of TIT FOR TAT or you forgot and worked with them again.
    3) Most importantly i would like to know that what are your thoughts about your life’s journey especially with respect to almighty, your fans and friends who deserted you in lean times.
Sir, i know that i have asked some personal questions but it is only because i have been following all the news concerning you since long. And despite going through real harrowing times you have been able to bounce back like a real hero. So SIR, KUDOS TO YOU AND I SALUTE YOUR FIGHTING SPIRIT.
    LOVE AND REGARDS
    ROHIT SHARMA(CHANDIGARH)

Thank you for your response to my earlier comments on day 520. You’ve reminded me, the crop was sisal !!

I think there was an ever increasing number of islands or simply just places on earth that we have yet to mark our print on. Our impact on this planet, we so call our home is short of devastating. We leave little for our children least of all theirs.

We do make some achievements however our sheer nature is to explore and extract for our existence. There has to be a price. Sadly, mother nature pays.

    Ultimately, we will ..

I sincerely hope you enjoy your trip to Madagascar. I yet to travel there however I hear it’s beautiful and I’m sure will leave you with memories.

Bachche Bachche Hain Kahan? Jaan Le Sakal Jahaan
Jab Jee Chahen, Chatak Dein, Badon Badon Ka Maan

Badon Badon Ka Maan, Gyan Ke Bane Pitare

Par Kya Man Ke Abhi Bhi Sachche, Aaj Ke Bachche !!!

For the last line, you may get it confirmed from Neetu Singh of “Do Kaliyan” fame on whom was picturised “Bachche Man Sachche…….”.

Your post of today must have given lot of happiness to me and to all.
What about Johney Mastaana? Any probable date? Kindly write if possible. I am very keen to see that movie also at the earliest so that I could re-live that captivating evening at KANNYA KUMARI, when I was also there, incidentally.

    Dear all,

Anyone had time to visit : http://www.teenpattithemovie.com.

Great synopsis for a film. Rather refreshing and interesting .. Should be a thrill to watch with Mr B alongside Sir Ben Kingsley. What a line up !!

Great to see Indian cinema taking on a new perspective. So much maybe copied or based on Hollywood that it makes you cringe.

Is there really a demand for remakes also ? Goldies oldies remade as modern so called marvels. With technology and cinematic advancement seldom do they beat or even compare to the original works of art.

A classic is just that, classic. Leave it alone. Be creative and imaginary. Think of new ideas.

    Love always,

    Manish Parmar, UK.

In fact, my wife and my uncle has seen them while they were roaming in Orchard road but they didn’t dare to ask them for autograph because of security told them not to call them :( then they have called me up but I was in a office so could not leave and this is how I missed the greatest opportunity :-( hope next time when you visit Singapore I could see… have a wonderful day ahead… Regards & love…. Dear Sir,

Thanks a tonn for being there.Your commitment and sincerety in connecting with us on a daily basis without failing is applaudable. We sincerely and genuinely thank you for your concerted efforts and will always be indebted. You have been a man of words and it s been proven when you daily make an effort by putting up a blog entry for us “FamXt”.

Was very happy to know about your chillax time spen with grand childern.Though am not yet married but am sure wen ill have them itll be the best feeling that i would have ever experienced.

Today was going through headlines and was really upset on a news story in Indian Express about our politicians austerity drive going on these days.
Our ExA Minister had earlier told the press that he had made private arrangements for his capital stay ,what he didnt was that his MEA had pushed UD real hard to get the hotel payments done through ministry. What a shame.I had never thought that people like Mr Krishna & Mr Tharoor would indulge in such uncalled ruthless expenditures.that’s the irony of this nation.
Politicians are elected by the people to stand for their cause but instead after getting elected they start pursuing their own cause-making money and living lavish lifestyles.
Its so sad to see that our hard earned tax money being used by the system in paying off politician’s five star bills.
If this is the attitude of so highly intellectual and educated political minds of the country am afraid to say that the only place we are headed to is -HELL.

    Thanks for your post.
It brings in fresh air admist such pollution.

Dear Amitji, Good Afternoon. A brief post means you are preoccupied with something much more serious than a routine. Grand children also need your quality time and attention. Otherwise they would feel bored and leftout.
So it will be Khapoli venue for Bigg Boss House. Hope this time the guest appearance of snakes will be taken care. Karjat is famous for Diwadkar’s Batata Wada. I still remember about 40years back when everything was cheap Diwadkar’s were buying Kotmeer (Dhaniya) for daily use worth atleast 100Rs or more. So one can guess the number of Karjat wadas being sold in those days also on the trains plying on that route. DQ would be stopping in the late evening for additional rear engine and we would rush for the wada. Somehow it was not wada-pav affair in those days.
Have a nice trip to Khapoli and do remember it is very close to now very famous statement –’Aati kya Khandala…’ So someone can add lyrics concerning Khapoli. Hope your project goes off well and we can enjoy the show. It becomes talk of the town and with your presence it will have 4 moons. Chaar Chaand lagayenge aap.
My regards to you for changing the parameters of performance wherever you take part.

  320. Me says:

    hi,

Hello friends this is the recent discovery..many of u might have read it in yahoo.news today…

Moon was expected to be dry till now…..as..

The appeal of the moon waned after astronauts visited 40 years ago and called it “magnificent desolation.”

    BUT…..

The moon isn’t the dry dull place it seems. Traces of water lurk in the dirt unseen.

Three different space probes found the chemical signature of water all over the moon’s surface, surprising the scientists who at first doubted the unexpected measurement until it was confirmed independently and repeatedly.

    THE WATER QUANTITY OF WATER….

It’s not enough moisture to foster homegrown life on the moon. But if processed in mass quantities, it might provide resources — drinking water and rocket fuel — for future moon-dwellers, scientists say. The water comes and goes during the lunar day.

It’s not a lot of water. If you took a two-liter soda bottle of lunar dirt, there would probably be a medicine dropperful of water in it, said University of Maryland astronomer Jessica Sunshine, one of the scientists who discovered the water. Another way to think of it is if you want a drink of water, it would take a baseball diamond’s worth of dirt, said team leader Carle Pieters of Brown University.

    CHEMICAL DETECTION OF WATER….

The water was spotted by spacecraft that either circled the moon or flew by. All three ships used the same type of instrument that looked at the absorption of a specific wavelength of light that is the chemical signature of only two molecules: water and hydroxyl. Hydroxyl is one atom of hydrogen with one atom of oxygen, instead of two hydrogen atoms in water.

Because of the timing during the daylight when some of that wavelength disappears and some doesn’t, it shows that both hydroxyl and water are present, Sunshine said

CHANDRAYAN…THE INDIAN ROLE….FINALLY CHANDRAYAN WAS NOT A WASTE AND NIETHER INDIA’S ROLE IN SEARCHING MORE DATA ON MOON…ALTHOUGH MANY THOUGHT SO….THAT WE SHUD NOT WASTE OUR MONEY ON MOON…..BUT ON INDIA….BUT THE ONE MAJOR TRY FORM INDIA….BOUGHT MAJOR RESULTS…..THATS IS WHY….INDIA IS GREAT AND INDIA SHINES…..CHEERS….

This light wavelength was first discovered by an instrument on the Indian lunar satellite Chandrayaan-1, which stopped operating last month. Scientists initially figured something was wrong with the instrument because everyone knew the moon did not have a drop of water on the surface, Pieters said.

The chance that three different instruments malfunctioned in the same way on three different spaceships is almost zilch, so this confirms that it’s water and hydroxyl, Pieters said

Scientists testing lunar samples returned to Earth by astronauts did find traces of water, but they had figured it was contamination from moisture in Earth air, Pieters said

    Regards to one and all….

    Sudhir! O dear Sudhir!

How is that! where did you pick these couplets from Meena Kumari ji.. I had tried long back I could not get.. I think I can again try today.. and If I am not able to locate to tumhaari sharan mei aata hoon.. ( found her at Urdu poetry..)

Boss.. Meena Kumari le liye mere dil mei utani hi jagah hai jitani brother ke liye.. (utani hi not in the sense of only but in the sense of as much as..) I know you did not have to be explained of it.. but some others who may not understand and try to do literal translation may think otherwise..

I loved the couplets and loved the translation too.. How much I wished that brother had acted opposite her.. I had only recently seen her Yahudi, Dil Diya Dard Liya and Ek Hi Rasta.. she is on top among the collection of DVD/VCDs of female actors in my collection..

quite a few years back in my attempt to clean the dust from VCD of Pakeezah I had used the cotton dipped in acetone.. being a chemist I did not know it would spoil the disc.. mai bas roya hi nahi.. I have not yet purchased the DVD of Pakeezah yet after that incident.. 4 ek saal to ho hi gaye honge..

Could you send me a mail at anusite@gmail.com I tried to locate you at facebook but could not sudhir is such a common name.. I would definitely love you to be on my mailing list.. even though I don’t write mails these days..

    Ham tere pyaar mein

No apologies necessary, u need to work and to work u need some rest, and I think most of the EF are concerned that u r not always taking ur health seriously.

Grand children always add life to out living, thats what my father used to say and my grand father used to always pamper me, we can understand how it feels, In hindi there is saying that the interest is always more close than the principle and grand kids are the interest in a person’s life

    Do take care
Pray that all the movies - teen patti, Alladin and Pa become super duper hits

  333. Jasmine of London says:

    My dearest Mr. Bachchan,

Good morning. Hoping your three hour cat nap proved sufficient to see you through your schedule at Khapoli; failing that, I’m sure coffee would be on offer!?

‘Thoroughly’ impressed and enthused by my first visit to the very tantalizing Teen Patti web page! I am particularly enamoured of the aesthetics and just loved the hypnotizing effect created by the cascade of playing cards that greet and beckon you forth on entering the site, somewhat echoing the “maddening” psychological “chaos” that we are told is set to unravel during the film. Totally ingenious!

The captivating synopsis sells the innovative plot better than a blurb on the back of a novel actually, leaving your at the very height of your curiosity wanting to see more!! As it should be, it sounds as though your character is going to be the crest of the story and if it isn’t then I’m certain your performance in it will be, as usual. You revealed very little about him on the blog while you were filming over here – apart from the photographs you uploaded of you and Sir Ben in the casino scene, ‘slightly ditsy’ maths professor was your only description. Reclusive maths genius is what the site prefers and I think I do too since there is an implied ambiguity. Notice the common thread of ‘genius’ running through both characters in Aladin and TP, which cannot be entirely coincidental Mr.Bachchan.. although I’m sure I remember you saying that your ‘natural’ proclivity is not towards maths!

Intuitively had an idea this movie will be phenomenal and this is confirmation indeed – evidently brimming with creative masterminds – I am aware Barry John particularly has a colossal legacy in the acting field I cannot wait to see his influence in action. And you with Sir Ben! This is a perfect example of the kind work I, personally love to see you do at times. Far from the parameters of the tried and tested and even further from anything your generation of actors could accomplish!

One oddity with the site is that the “cast” page only shows pictures and not write ups - Your picture resembles that very ‘popular’ still taken for the advertisement you did in Singapore. Apart from that, I am intrigued and excited purely from the details on the website… Yes, it is beautiful and a great promotional tool. I wonder what impact the movie will have!

I might now need to spare some attention to my work…So wishing you a lovely and productive day for now and a safe journey back to Mumbai.

    With much love…

    Jasmine
    xx

    Good Afternoon,

Hoping your promo shoot at Khapoli went off well despite your lack of sleep. 3 hrs? Terrible!

I have visited the website for TEEN PATTI. Very cleverly designed and beautifully laid out. You look fantastic in the trailer. I can’t wait for its release and for the dvd to come out, only wish it was on the big screen instead. This is definitely going to be a huge hit! All the very best for this and the ones coming out. Exciting time coming up for you, Sir.

Looking forward to reading your next post tonight and remember your grandchildren keep you young! So enjoy yourself.

    For Satinder,

Gulzar (Sampooran Singh) got her diary after her death. The song “Humne dekhi hai un aankho ki mehakati khusbu… pyaar ko pyaar hi rehne do koi naam na do…” was inspired by Meena Kumari written by Gulzar.

Here is Meena Kumari’s best known ghazal

    ===

    Chaand tanha hai aasmaan tanha
Dil mila hai kahaan kahaan tanha

    — — — The moon is alone, so is the sky
    — — — I find my heart everywhere alone

Bujh gai aas chhup gaya taara
    Thar-tharaataa rahaa dhuaan tanha

    — — — The desire suppressed, the star has veiled
    — — — The smoke kept flickering alone

Zindagi kya isi ko kehte hain
Jism tanhaa hai aur jaan tanhaa

    — — — Is this what we call life?
    — — — Body alone and the spirit alone

Humsafar koi gar mile bhi kahin
    Dono chalte rahe tanhaa tanhaa

    — — — And when there were companions
    — — — Both strolled the way alone, alone

    Raah dekha karega sadiyon tak
    Chhod jaayenge ye jahaan tanha

    — — — This wait may last ages
    — — — I shall leave this world alone

    —Meena Kumari, ‘Naaz’

  352. Sharmila says:

    Dear Lion King,

I visited the website for teenpatti. The synopsis is interesting, the fact that it deals with brilliant mathematicians who exploit the probability theory to the hilt has me rubbing my hands with glee. Venkat is an appropriate name for a mathematical genius, it sounds very south indian and in fact apt.I think this is the first time you are donning this name. The plot sounds different to ocean’s eleven and with stalwarts like yourself and Kingsley and supported by the talented Madhavan , poker will be redefined.

It is good marketing sense to release this to an international audience on similar grounds of Slumdog where Star Fox bagged the distribution rights and made a killing on this low cost movie. There should be an international appetite for teenpatti. I hope promos have already hit the theatre screens worldwide for it by now? However, it will be interesting to see how this movie fares in India, I am of the opinion that the foreign distributions may rake in more revenues, but we will wait and see.

You can revisit Macau now and dry clean the gambling rooms of the Venetian with your brilliant theory. Poor Mr Sheldon Adelson will be shocked with this theory when he watches the movie and may ban you from the casinos..:)

    xoxoxoxoxo

A roar is in the offing I hope.

Very touching views and comments on the subject of approval. I was most endeared to read of your mother’s departure from this world.

Please refrain from isolation and deep thought provoking feelings which upset you. Perhaps look on your mother’s life by way of celebration. Celebrate the years ‘ amma ‘ was with you. Be thankful of the wonderful memories you have and keep them alive.

We all seek approval from here and above. We seek guidance, seek solitude and seek peace from within.

Mothers seek happiness in their children above all else. They seek approval that their guidance hasn’t been fruitless.

I’m sure your mother is proud of you as we all are here.

We are all here for you.

It must have been tough even to take initiative to approach that stubborn producer of Teen Patti after that forceful withdrawal of teaser episode and to make them or her to convince for the right cause is nothing less than miracle. At last wisdom prevails and it should benefit all.
Love, compassion and truth has no fixed path and don’t depend on anything and not even on approval. Only self interest and appreciation depend on approval…aah that’s good one. Let me approve myself…

Yes, AGREE! It is wonderful to welcome a stray animal to share your home, and I do feel pets bring blessings on the house.

One of my cats came from a rescue centre, after her previous owners had kept her for a year and then ‘returned’ her. But now she can be sure she has a loving home with me for life.

    Hi Abhaya
no grave mistakes there….it happens… those movies , the melodies, the lyrics and the actors were part of my generation’s growing up years and therefore embedded in my heart & mind
Plus my week ends are now devoted to those black & white era Hindi movies…. production values, technology is far superior today , may be even the choreography but the acting + lip sync to lyrics was far better then. What do you think?

  399. Dharmesh Trivedi says:

World Bank lends $4.3bn to India
    Road workers
The World Bank loans will help to support India’s infrastructure

The World Bank is to provide India with$4.3bn (£2.6bn) in loans, including $2bn to support its state-owned banks.

The organisation expects India’s economic growth to slow to as little as 5.5% in 2009, down from almost 10% two years ago.

“This is a crucial time to support India,” said Roberto Zagha, the World Bank country director for India.

The loans will mainly be used to fund infrastructure projects and support companies that need credit.

    ‘Doubts linger’

“While the worst of the crisis seems to be behind us, doubts linger about the strength of the comeback, partly because the strength of the global recovery is uncertain,” Mr Zagha said.

“Today’s support will help maintain credit growth and continued infrastructure investments.”

The loans came in response to Indian requests for more support to help it cope with the economic downturn.

The $2bn loan to the banking sector will help “prevent shortages of capital from leading to a slowdown in credit growth, and provide a capital buffer to public sector banks to absorb the possible increase in non-performing assets,” the World Bank said.

A 28-year loan of $1.195bn is aimed at a range of infrastructure projects including “selected power, roads, and ports projects”, it said.

Another $1bn loan is aimed at strengthening India’s electricity transmission system.

The World Bank also approved smaller loans to Vietnam, Hungary, Latvia and Nepal.

  405. Daksha says:

    Dear Sir,

You kicked the ball and not the bottle! Shanouk is not jealous of you giving more attention to Agastya is he? Now that Aishwarya is back home, it will he a “house-full” again and lots of activities going on at the minute. I hope your shoot for Colors went well. Teen Patti, Paa, Aladdin, Rann…all lined up one after another. I wish you all the best.

I did visit the website for Teen Patti Sir and the first thing I noticed is the music. I like it. Who made it? I really do like it. There is much to study and observe in there but that I shall do that when this brain of mine is at peace. During the Navratri days, one foot at home, the other at work..that is how it is. My sisters in laws are coming down with their families for prayers and blessings at our house and it is going to be a busy house till Dashera. They look afte me , I look after them. Tomorrow is going to be the busiest. When everyone leaves there will be close family and friends left, about 40 of us, all will have a meal together (although on Ashtmi we do not eat roti/dal/chawal/subzi). There will be the Kanjak ceremoney on Monday, some 40-50- people have been invited for a meal. I like to cook early in the morning when it is quieter.

Please do not apologise…absolutely no need for that. What you write is not impersonal, it is full of love and affection for your FmXt…thank you for being, there you for writing, thank you for reading, thank you for your time and effort.

It is always a joy to write here…I must go now…complete some unfinished tasks at work and rush home to attend to all.

    Lots of love,
    Daksha

  415. Melwyn says:

    Good Morning Mr. Bachchan,

So yesterday was a hard day, all the more so when it was your first outdoor shoot after a long holiday. We realize that stardom is not just glitz and glamour; it is also a lot of sweat and toil too.

What you have observed while traveling on the E-Way is the direct result of the conflict between man and his environment. It is indeed a very sorry state of affairs. Man continues to threaten the delicate ecological balance with his never-ending desire to build, without ever realizing that he is in fact digging his own grave.

I guess people have had enough of the big cities and their tall neon-lit skylines, and hopefully it wont be long before movies will be set in the tranquil, rustic milieu of our hinterlands. And off course, the characters will converse in proper Hindi.

    Regards,

    Melwyn

    Dear Patron,
This world is full of purities & impurities and we in the race of materialistic needs never get time to think about our motherland and environment. We are so busy that we never think about anything apart from our family and materialistic requirements. Do we know the truth of the flowers, which we dedicate to our Lord “The Creator of this world”? Sir, if you find any truth in the above illustration, let us feel the strength of your conviction by your participation in this Spiritual Mission.
We have devised a 3 Point Programme to help clean INDIAN RIVER .

    A) To STOP People from throwing the Ceremonial flowers / Poly bags ect in RIVER.
    B) All things being currently thrown in INDIAN RIVER to be collecting & a recycling process to be initiated.
    C) To organize children currently engaged in coin collecting & rag picking and give them employment & education.
    YAMUNA MAHA UTSAV.
To clean as much as possible of the poly bags and flowers from repeating error of putting flowers and poly bags again unto the river. We are also organizing Door to Door campaigning to educate uniform people in addition to touching almost 2 lace school children to help in our endeavor.
Our organization, YFF, ( YOUTH FRATERNITY FOUNDATION ( REGD.) has undertaken a project to clean the rivers of INDIA starting with The YAMUNA, which will be starting from Delhi .
We have devised a special “KALASH” (“PATRAS”) which will be placed in public places for the immediate disposal of these flowers. These will subsequently be disposed by our volunteers at an appropriate place. This will help tremendously in the reduction of pollution in The INDIAN river.
We hope that you will make your contribution for this noble cause.

our country…a neat and clean country which they dreamt of. Lets join hands for this Noble and Spiritual Mission.
    With kind regards,

    Thanking you,
    Yours faithfully,

    Dear Amit Ji,

I saw the website of teenpatti and by the looks of the synopsis it seems to be a copy of famous hollywood movie - 21. We have seen how in the past bollywood has been inspired by hollywood flicks, be it a copy of There’s something about Mary in the form of ‘Deewane Hue Pagal’ or Partner as a copy of Hitch. I wonder why this happens.

Is it that bollywood lacks creativity or is that we love to steal others intellectual property and create a large hue and cry when our movies are pirated, aren’t we doing the same to someone else?

However, I am sure with local flavour added and with the fact that you are starring in the movie, Teenpatti would be a nice flick, look forward to appreciate you in the movie :-)

    Respect and regards,

hey he sure does rock…nice comment guys…by the way I am a beautiful lock on Hrithik’s head full of gorgeous hair! As I have observed, from my vantage point (of being on top of Hrithik’s head, duh!), a lot of you want glamourous locks…but (sigh, sigh) very few of you manage to look like me. So, I will try to be at my swishiest best and using my enviable position to best advantage, I’ll tell you the secrets of my beauty and of course, I’ll give you a glimpse of what goes on in Hrithik’s world. Follow me at hrithikslock.blogspot.com… See you there!

    Mr. Bachchan

I like you for the way you carry yourself inspite of your great stardom but i was some how not a great fan of yours until recently.I was on a vacation to Egypt where everyone in and around Egypt identified India with you. “Amithab Bachchan” is what they think India is, thats when it struck to me how great a person you are.Everywhere we went they said Amithab Bachchan. you are a great ambassador to India and i felt i had to tell the whole world that this man as made it a long way and he is a part of Indian History. I wish you the best and will pray to God for your long life.
    Luv
