London, UK June 26, 2009 Fri 11:15 am
In the mid 60’s or thereabouts, I heard a group of pop singers who went by the name of ‘the Jackson 5’. Many years later when I had the facility of a video player I saw them in action live. The youngest among them, was this chubby cute little fellow with an extraordinary voice and a body that for his age and countenance, moved exceptionally well. I found out his name was Michael – Michael Jackson.
For several years thereafter, we did not hear him or of him; the Beatles had invaded the music scene and the entire universe had adopted them as their own.
It was around the mid 70’s that lightening struck and from it emerged this grown up version of Michael Jackson, singing, moving, dancing like he was from some other planet ! Mesmerized by his brilliance in each and every department of music and performance, he changed the very psyche, of not just the kind of music he was making, but also the psyche of the listening audience. Nothing compared to him. He was just this incredible perfection that God could have possibly created in his mercy.
His body moved like a wound up toy machine. Every conceivable action of rhythm and style was incorporated inside his diminutive form, without any blemish. The exhilaration that he provided became synonymous with the ultimate. He was the impossible.
With the greater advent of modern technology and its rather slow percolation into the developing world, we would only get to see or hear him, through great effort made by those that had the privilege of travel. These, purveyors and bringers of good tidings, would carry with them his music and his videos from across the seven seas into our lives. And we the possessors of such rare material, became the idols of great attention, simply because we had in our possession, a video of Michael Jackson .
Time passed by. Our own travels became more frequent and we started becoming proud owners of his CD’s and Video. They became our most prized possessions. Those who did not get an opportunity to be in similar circumstance, looked upon us with awe and gratitude when we would play for them, somewhat reluctantly, MJ music and video. Everyone wanted to dance like him, dress like him, BE him. But no one came anywhere near.
Soon after my accident in 1982, I went to the United States of America for recuperation and consultations with the medical fraternity there on my post- operative condition. It was while I was in New York that we came to learn of Michael Jackson on tour with one of his many concerts that he was performing in. The next one was to be in a city called, oddly, Jacksonville Florida. The show we discovered was on the next day. It was an opportunity we just could not miss. So we boarded a flight and landed up in the morning at Jacksonville, without knowing a soul, without any hotel reservation and without a ticket to the concert. Moving from one location to the other with a friendly helpful cabbie, we landed up in the same hotel that MJ was in, only to be shown the door because the entire hotel, and all the floors had been taken up by Mr Jackson and his massive entourage. Begging and pleading with the management for some space, the kitchen, parking lot, a bench in the lobby, we finally managed a small discard in the corner somewhere, where my brother and I, he accompanying me on this escapade, rested our bodies before we undertook the other more important ordeal – tickets for the show !!
By the afternoon, we discovered ourselves loitering around this massive football stadium, with no clue whatsoever where and how we could get inside this cavernous enclosure to see THE MJ perform.
The walk about seemed endless. After consuming tons of ice sticks and the fizzies in the hot and humid atmosphere, and witnessing countless groups of fans in ecstatic gear and temperament; one particular individual standing out in his peculiarity by trying desperately to warn visitors NOT to go inside, because MJ was the devil incarnate, we finally, minutes before it was gearing up to start, met our savior – the ever reliable tout !! An exorbitant bargain was struck and we were racing up the galleries even as the first strains of the colossal audio system started up.
Our seats were.. well.. comfortable. They were made of cement and were not individual in nature, just a long endless strip that ran around the stadium in uniform fashion. The air was fresh and I thought somewhat cooler than where we met Monsieur Tout and we soon realized why. We were in the last row of the tier at the very edge of this monstrous construction, looking down upon a mass of almost a 100,000 humanity, requiring most definitely, the assistance of a parachute in case we wanted to make an immediate exit !!
With a bit of shoving and pushing we finally were able to seek deliverance – the space to finally rest our posteriors. This unfortunately lasted just a few seconds, for, a huge bang of music almost immediately, tore our eardrums away and a blinding light from the stage on one end, accompanied by the most decibel led roar from 100,000, got everyone on their feet again !! And that is how we remained for the next three hours !! For almost 45 minutes the build up kept us in hungry anticipation and then… almost by magic.. he was on stage… NOTHING WAS HEARD THENCE, NOTHING WAS SEEN THERAFTER, NOTHING BUT UTTER.. UTTER .. HALUCIGENIC MADNESS !!
That was my first introduction to him in person. But it was not the last !!
In the early 90’s on another private visit to New York, the door bell of my room in the Helmsley Palace Hotel rang, and I sauntered up to open it. There as I stood in the doorway, across me, was Michael Jackson ! He looked a little surprised as he turned around to those he was accompanied with and in his now well known soft voice gently spoke up – “Oh ! Excuse me ! I think I have the wrong room !”.
I have no recollection of what I said in return, whether I said anything at all, how long I remained in that state and when I closed the door to come back in. But that was him and he had come to the wrong room !!
Later the next day, my friend Mohan Murjani, who was perhaps working with MJ on some project and staying in the same hotel, set up a meeting for me with Michael Jackson and we met and laughed at the previous days incident and exchanged pleasant conversation. He was soft spoken, very humble and most polite. Introduced me to his Mother who accompanied him and then I was out of there !!
I never saw him again but when he came to perform in Mumbai at the Andheri Sports Complex, Prateeksha, where I live, shook the entire night with the vibrations of all his most popular numbers booming out from the venue.
An exceptional artist has gone. Someone that created an almost outer world experience for all of us with his art.
When I get back I shall pull out an old birthday party recording of 7-8 year aged Abhhishek, dressed like Michael and dancing to ‘Thriller’.

Amitabh,
Oh y es, it is such a shock. Back in eighties when we were in teens we listened to his music and danced and sang it till we learnt it by heart. And with Michael gone, it is as if a part of me is also dead. it is like losing a family member. I am terribly upset.

Hello AB,
I posted message requesting … rather wishing if you could send a few words of ‘wish’ to one of my maternal uncle on his b’day … (June 19th ****My maternal uncle (Mr.Khatri) also is great fan of movie - SHAKTI. Actually he is very knowledgeable and learned man. He does lot of reading and watching movies. Once he mentioned that - its not me there in Bollywood, so is AB there, else it would have been me. It was his birth day yesterday. He is visiting USA currently for the first time. It would be delight to pass personal word from you to him through this medium.)
didn’t get one…
then i requested something of similar on my wedding anniversary for my wife….(Balmukund Kiri says:

24th June is my wife’s wedding anniversary (our wedding anniversary)
I wish you could send her msg on)
didn’t get either
anyways…
Is it the lack of connection with immediate family members that brings out thirst to connect to EF at the cost of your rest and sleep? I guess that could be one of the reason because you and your family due to professional engagement keep travelling to distant locations for days together and then also when you are in hometown there are chances of different schedules to catch up with each other….
one of your old post … Your words—”Though all the work of art may end in ultimate uselessness…. ”
But still as long as it is used or helps to entertain someone, its not useless. If considered that way all sports and athletics also could be placed in same category. May be even teaching history. All that one studies in elementary and high school doesn’t necessarily help. Is that called ultimate uselessness…?
Secondly, There hasn’t been any of your pictures without wig out yet….. any plans see any change in your hair style… Let your EF see you without wig. the original AB as is as in home … casual… Do we get to see that?
The display of Reid and Taylor logo on blog homepage - A choice or A business oriented decision.??? !!!!! just curious…
hey there mr bachchan
how u doing?
sorry feeling very sad for michael jackson. RIP
will write again soon.
take care and lots of love to you ekta x
AWESOME!!!!!! I just loved reading your blog on MJ this morning…………What an artist - what a singer, dancer - HE WAS AMAZING. Thank you soo much for sharing these experiences with us!
The musical genius will be long remembered. After Princess Diana… MJ is another irreparable loss …Devastating News!!!
Dear Sir,
I am in the first 10.
Regards,
it is sad but more importantly a lesson to learn, despite the whole world at his feet this man could not handle the pressures of stardom.
In some ways our indian idols handle it much better probably due to close family ties.
I have been quite numb with shock since hearing the news. Partly this was totally out of the blue (even if there were health issues) but partly the fact that there had been so much craziness and controversy surrounding him for so many years that one sort of ignored anything he did after the 80s. But I was reflecting on this today and realized that in a sense these fatal flaws are also part of the ‘cultural fabric’ of a truly legendary icon like Jackson. We see this again and again. Monroe’s issues. Elvis’s problems including the terrible weight towards the end, so on and so forth. Between Thriller and Bad Jackson completely altered his physicality. This too is part of the legend. As is Neverland and so much else. Jackson was really a new beginning, a new kind of pop star. There are only a handful like him in American pop history, people who’ve meant everything to their age.
Really wonderful post on your part here..
Hi Amitabhji,
MJ’s death is surely a huge loss to the entire entertainment industry….MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE
You have a wonderful knack of describing details!! Quite amusing and interesting!!

Hello Mr.Bachchan,
What a great loss to the world. When we moved to Britain in 81 we used to see Jackson five all the time on the TV. MJ was one of the finest. He was talented beyond his years. He paved way for so many black & white artists to flourish in the music Industry. He was just phenomenal at what he did with his own original & unique style. My daugther & son when they were small danced to “beat it” on stage at one our cultural functions here in Toronto in 1992. Though he had his demons to fight there is no doubt about his extraordinary talent and a great influence on the industry . Michael Jackson RIP.
You take care of yourself by slowing down a bit. Will you promise me that. We want you to be here when you are 100 years old. Wish you all the best.
Love
Sheela
Amitji
What a great loss, the world has lost a legend, and in our generation - the likes of Elvis. May he RIP - It’s amazing how people take things for granted, almost assuming that he’ll always be alive - it goes to show that no one is immortal. Let’s celebrate his life with one of his numbers - Smooth Criminal - what an awesome video and tune!
Much Love
rohit
Dearest Amitji,
It is very sad about Michael Jackson but every body will remember him .Your passion is EF but reading your blog is a daily routine for me & hundreds of your fan.We don’t want a single day. But you have written Proverb 64.If I am wrong then SORRY.I have done 3 comments in this topic. you have not replied.I hope you may reply this time.

Amitji, as always, only your ever-lucid style of writing can pay such befitting tribute to an artiste such as Mr. Michael Jackson!! I was just thinking, “What are the chances of someone such as Mr. Amitabh Bachchan meeting with a renowned personality like Mr. Michael Jackson? I’m sure their paths must have crossed at some point! What would their interactions have been?” And then I see this beautifully-written article
I’ve grown-up as a teenager in the 80’s in India, and as you had appropriately written-about, I was one among the few who experienced the thrill of listening and dancing to MJ’s beats. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! May God grant peace to Micheal’s soul and give much-deserved solace to his family, loved ones and the rest of the world which will miss him dearly. I live in LA and am witness to the grief all-around. Life will never be the same again..!
o-oh, i dont think jr Bachchan will be happy to see u’ve disclosed his lil video performance as a child MJ. hilarious as it maybe to us. we can just picture it.
talking abt MJ, u failed to mention what u think of his indescretions throughout his much public life. i think the spotlight killed him. he was coming across as a looney all the time… maybe he was, we’ll never know.
thanks for sharing ur lovely, comic story abt ur concert. concerts are always memorable, for the audience anyways. sounds like u had a great time, if not the most comfortable
Dear Amitji,
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us…May MJ’s soul rest in peace…Allah bless him …

Amitabh,
So long I have waited to see legends like MJ, yourself and 2 more outside of the TV/Computer. I had always wished to see you guys at least once before either were called to the resting home by the Gods of the Universe. I have never had the luck to see any of you guys!
Unfortunately, one of them is gone and took away a quarter of my dream.

An Appraisal
Tricky Steps From Boy to Superstar
By JON PARELES
Which Michael Jackson will be remembered? The unsurpassed entertainer, the gifted and driven song-and-dance man who wielded rhythm, melody, texture and image to create and promote the best-selling album of all time, “Thriller”? Or the bizarre figure he became after he failed in his stated ambition to outsell “Thriller,” and after the gleaming fantasy gave way to tabloid revelations, bitter rejoinders and the long public silence he was scheduled to break next month?
In the end, the superstar and the recluse were not so far apart.
Mr. Jackson built his stardom on paradox. As a child star he was precocious; as an adult he was childlike. His only competition was himself. Within the razzle-dazzle of his songs, he sang about fears and uncertainties in that high, vulnerable voice: flinching from monsters in “Thriller,” wishing he could just “Beat It” when trouble began.
He was a racial paradox, too: an African-American whose audience was never segregated, but whose features grew more Caucasian and whose skin grew lighter through his career, to discomfiting effect. His own face had become a mask.
All of Mr. Jackson’s show-business skills — the ones he learned under his father’s sometimes brutal instruction and then within the Motown Records hitmaking assembly line — were at once a way to please the broadest possible audience and to shield himself from them, safe within his own spectacle.
Despite all his time onstage and on the air, Mr. Jackson stayed remote: styled, rehearsed and choreographed. He had one of history’s largest audiences, and it never really knew him.
There was no denying his talent. His voice leaped out of the radio in Jackson 5 songs like “I Want You Back,” even for those who didn’t see how he danced on television. He internalized Motown’s philosophy of making music for a broad audience — not just a black or white audience as pop grew increasingly segmented in the 1970s — and when he took over his own career, with “Off the Wall” in 1979, he applied that philosophy to the newest sounds he could find, in and out of discos.
His ambition was seductive when he urged “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough.” He offered something to everybody on “Thriller,” which may have been the most strategic crossover album to date: a duet with a Beatle in “The Girl Is Mine,” dizzying electronic beats in “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’,” rock guitar in “Beat It.”
His established stardom helped get his African-American face onto MTV, breaking what seemed like a color line, in what was a hugely beneficial step for both. Mr. Jackson wasn’t just an old-school show-business expert who could sing and dance onstage in real time; he was also more than ready for the music-video era, turning his songs into high-concept video clips that fit the chorus-line production of old Hollywood musicals into television-sized nuggets.
His dance moves were angular and twitchy, hinting at digital stops and starts rather than analog fluidity — except, of course, for his famous moonwalk, the image of someone striding gracefully without ever leaving center stage.
The world-beating success of “Thriller” was Mr. Jackson’s triumph and burden. He had the sales, the Grammy Awards, the screaming audiences in every country he toured. And he would spend the rest of his career trying to repeat the experience working many of the same maneuvers into his music: another duet, another rock guitar, another ratcheting dance track. Mr. Jackson never stopped being catchy, but behind the sheen some of the songs grew darker and stranger, like “Smooth Criminal,” with its intimations of violence, on the 1987 album “Bad.”
Mr. Jackson labored; his albums came four, five, six years apart. The hip-hop era had arrived, with its bluntly candid lyrics and quick-and-dirty productions, both contrary to Mr. Jackson’s style; he tried to keep up the crossover with raps from the Notorious B.I.G., but that didn’t buy him street credibility.
The songs grew increasingly divided between benevolent messages like “Heal the World” and spiteful ones like “Why You Wanna Trip on Me” on his 1991 album “Dangerous.” On his 1995 album “HIStory” — which started out as a greatest-hits collection but added a second album of new songs — Mr. Jackson’s fury boiled over in new songs like “They Don’t Care About Us” and “Tabloid Junkie.”
Part of the pop audience — and critics, too — took pleasure in Mr. Jackson’s setbacks. He had long been billing himself as the King of Pop, and the cover of “HIStory” shows him as a giant statue, the kind that gets toppled when tin-pot dictators (or pop idols) are overthrown.
The underlying sweetness that had made Mr. Jackson endearing, even at his strangest, had curdled, and he couldn’t resuscitate it for his final album, “Invincible,” in 2001. All the pieces he had put together, all the paradoxes that he had been able to resolve with sheer musicality, started to fall apart. He was working on a stadium spectacle for shows in London this summer, and we will never know if all his skill and showmanship could have given him a new start.
Hello again,
Thanks for another post…
RIP MJ, Mr Bachan you were a very lucky man to meet him!
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Firstly, let me thank you for sharing your personal experiences with the great MJ. It is so hard to believe that he is no more. His phenomenal performances are so closely associated with that of our childhood memories. He was truly the greatest Superstar.

Dear Mr. Bachchan,

Hello Big Sir You too are a legend in our lives you too gave us plesure when you sing and dance live like MJ but you agree there will never be Another LIke him
Ever so sad may his soul rest in peace.
Dear Bachchan Saab,
Thanx for fine tribute to MJ…. from one legend to another!
MJ had such an electrifying impact those days on everyone that no one was left untouched.
Both my sons Swapnil and Sunny were dancing to MJ ’s music in their childhood.
For them He was like God. Some one in fact paid tribute like that (M J was next to Jesus for her !).
Sunny had won his school fancy dress competition as M J and he was dressed with BAD sign on it. With one glove on hand he danced with all the MJ dance movements way back in late 80s.
His dress became something like family legacy. Every small school going child of the near and dear family relative would take Sunny’s M J dress and win prizes over the years.
When we left India last year it was handed over to my brother in law for his son Bobby to dance in his school !
Today Sunny is an IT professional and Swapnil in the electronic media’s technical professional.
Last night when everyone came home from their respective jobs everyone recalled everything about boys’ childhood memories.
We were very very emotional. We decided to see M J videos.
Swapnil and Sunny played many of His songs from You Tube to the big screen of TV.
And here you also talk about those days and more importantly Abhishek’s M J dress !
SOCHO THAKUR…!!
Awesome post as always.. enjoyed reading it..
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us..
It would be nice to see Abhishek’s video
Take care.

Dear Amitji,
It was a sheer pleasure reading your recollection on Michael Jackson just now on your blog. How wonderful you got to meet him in person. One ICON meeting another ICON! Guess, he wouldn’t have known that at the time, though.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience with us it was indeed very interesting. The world will mourn the loss of a great artist.
Love,
Brenda
My dear Mr. Bachchan,
Yes, sometime mid-morning today, my husband told me of the untimely and sad demise of Michael Jackson - saw it on tv. Though my children and I have never been admirers or fans of his, it definitely is a great loss to the music world and his fans in particular! For his family and fans it must still be unbelieveable that he should have passed away when still at his peak! They must be in a state of shock - for such was his craze among the people!
Reading your tributes today, for the second time in the span of a week, for a great artist who was, it brings me to the realisation that only one such can know the value of and appreciate the genius of another! Fans will always be that - people who respond to the sheer aura and appearance of their idol - but there is no emotional connect. Only someone from the fraternity would feel from their core at such a monumental loss, and your words feel as though they come straight from your heart! Your admiration and awe for MJ is so apparant, and I respect you tremendously for it! I hope you are able to watch little Abhishek when he was all of 7-8 yrs old, in the getup of this great singer/performer, and delight in the experience, and relive those moments when you beheld him in person before you !
My deep condolences to his family and fans!
Yours always,
Kashmira
Dear Amitji,
A big shock and sadness for the loss of great music icon.
I have been hearing all about him on TV since yesterday evening as he passed away, but your tribute to him was heartfelt. Thanks
with love Avani
Oh! one more thing. Have U seen following article talking about U are the reincarnation of famous American actor Edward (Edwin) Booth !
Author : Madhusree Chatterjee
Published: June 24, 2009
Did you know Indian freedom hero Mahatma Gandhi has been reincarnated as Van Jones, the celebrated American civil rights, human rights and environment activist, who was named as Time magazine’s “environmental hero” in US in 2008? “Objective evidence that forms the basis of past life studies prove that Jones is the reincarnation of Gandhi,” world’s leading past life researcher and best-selling author from US Walter Semkiw told IANS in an interview Wednesday.
Jones’ facial bone structure and features are the same as that of Gandhi’s, said Semkiw. “His manners and body language are also similar to that of the Indian freedom fighter and he does the same things Gandhi did in Africa during the 1930s - campaign for civil rights. Like Gandhi, who was named the Time magazine man of the year in 1930, Jones figured in the Time’s list of most influential men in 2008 and in several other magazines,” the researcher said.
Semkiw, the San Francisco-based author, reincarnation specialist and medical practitioner, who stormed the best-sellers’ list in India with his book “Born Again” in 2006 that shed light on the past lives of Indian celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, former president APJ Abdul Kalam, is back with his second book, “Origin of the Soul: And the Purpose of Reincarnation”.
The book was released by the writer in a small function at a retail book store near New Delhi. “It takes a deeper look into the theory of reincarnation and answers some long-standing questions like where do you come from, why are we living this physical existence and where are we going. It about the evidence
of our past lives in our brains,” Semkiw said.
The writer, who practises medicine in San Francisco, graduated in medicine from the University of Illinois in Chicago and trained in psychiatry at the University of Colorado in Denver. He has been researching on past lives since 1996. “I pursue past lives as a scientist based on objective evidence like common personality traits between reincarnations, memories, similarities in facial features, events, patterns in life and writing styles that most
people carry over lifetimes. They rarely change down the births,” Semkiw said.
Most of Semkiw’s findings are based on independent researches involving extensive library work, interviews with celebrities, whose pasts Semkiw likes to probe, and sessions with a famous spirit medium, Kevin Ryerson who guides Semkiw to a master spirit called Athun Re, an Egyptian high priest, who, according to the doctor, has not been “reincarnated for the past 3,000 years.”
The “master priest” usually makes the “past lives matches instructing Semkiw where to look for possible reincarnations”.
Origin of Soul Article Summary
The sessions are followed by researches and matching of physical evidence like features, body language, habits, tastes and writing styles, the doctor said.
“Some of famous my case studies include those of the prodigy and holocaust victim Anne Frank (of the Diary of Anne Frank fame), who has been been reincarnated as Barbro Karlen, a Swedish Christian, US president Barack Husain Obama, who was Lyman Trumbull, a Senator in the Abraham Lincoln’s government. Trumbull wrote the 13th amendment ending slavery in US,” Semkiw said. Renaissance painter Michaelangelo, said the researcher, has been reincarnated as an American sculpture Paul Felix Montez and Oprah Winfrey is the reincarnation of James Wilson, an abolitionist during the American
revolution. Semkiw has interesting revelations about Indian celebrities as well.
Amitabh Bachchan, revealed the doctor, is the reincarnation of famous American actor Edward Booth and “displays all his characteristics”, while former president APJ Abdul Kalam is the present-day avatar of Tipu
Sultan, the first Indian ruler to have used rocket in battles. “Shah Rukh Khan is the reincarnation of yesteryear Hindu actress-singer and dancer Sadhana Bose. Social worker Annie Besant has been born as Maneka Gandhi and Jahawarlal Nehru as the slain Pakistan PM Benazir Bhutto,” Semkiw said.
The doctor backs all his “reincarnation matches” with physical evidence.
“My interest in the investigating past life is academic,” Semkiw said .
“Souls often change gender and religion. Annie Frank , Jew, is now a Christian. Similarly , a Palestinian can be born an Israeli and a Muslim, a Hindu. The study past lives is important in removing conflicts over religion and nationality because the soul knows no barriers of caste, creed and race,” Semkiw analysed.
Souls, are usually reborn in karmic groups, says the researcher. “They come back in groups, based on karma and emotional attachments. The writer, who claims to be the reincarnation of American president John Adams, started researching past life as a “spirit told him when he was studying medicine that he had a past life”. “Twelve years later, I started reading about my past life,” he said. Since then, Semkiw has been matching the past and the present.
I think this has been the best tribute to MJ from what all I have seen. Excellent piece of writing!
What a beautiful and touching tribute to a wonderful and unbeatable Legend. May Michael (Jackson) remain in the Almighty’s memory…for a future life of peace, harmony and eternal happiness…
God Bless His Soul…

Aapka Deepak from Vancouver Canada
Very Well Said Mr. Bachchan….
Truely the greatest artist the world has ever seen. There will be no one like him in the next 100 years atleast. My first exposure to his music was during the Reliance sponsored telecast of Grammy Awards on DD. I still remember he got the Grammy for the song ‘Just beat it!’. My brother’s son who was about 3 years old that time picked up the same song from the TV and dance to it.
May God bless his soul!
Hiee Mr Bachchan
Hope my mail finds you in the best of your health and spirits.
I was extremely shocked listening to the news of Michael jackson’s demise. It was really very sad knowing that he is undergoing lot of health problems. He was even suffering from skin cancer.I feel terribly sorry for him.
He was a huge craze in 80’s.I remember in my school days we just went crazy about his songs like ‘BAD’ and ‘BLACK OR WHITE’ and soo many others.
Thanks for posting the incident of your meeting him and going to see his performance.
Wating for the pic of abhishek and thanks for posting the article of MID-Day as I cannot access it.
Keep blogging.
Take care.
Love & warm regards
Priyanka.
My dearest.. I thank you. That you have divided with us this general pain.. I in a shock.. Today sad day.. The World has lost the unique phenomenon, bright, surprising and remarkable talented person - Michael Jackson..
When my son has seen for the first time well-known “lunar gait” Michael, he has exclaimed: “Is not present, it is impossible!! Same it is unreal!!”.. Also has tried to copy it. But it is unsuccessful, final.. So Michael and anybody more could make only..
Its last performance with speech recently before fans I looked and there was a sensation that he says goodbye.. He perfectly looked and was very benevolent and touching.. Fans simply idolised him and did not allow to him a word to tell, and it only gesture calmed them, sent to people air kisses, pressed a hand to a breast loving everything, smiled and could say some words the soft surprising voice. Also there were tears in his eyes.. It was very sincere small and such touching in a life, despite its mask of inaccessibility and all these dirty gossips and intrigues which took place in his life and which also “have helped” him so early to leave..
Michael visited Moscow twice.. But me has not had the luck to be present at its concerts.. But at me many its records and video.. Its music and a surprising voice remains with us.. Michael with us..
I can write and speak about Michael much.. But I would like to leave its citation. The king of pop spoke about itself so: «I do not wish to tell that I the superstar.. Simply people who get glory, are a target. But the truth all the same will win. I trust in it. I in general believe in God»..
My prayers. And let his soul will find rest..
.
Thanks you, Amitji.. My precious friend for your pure kind soul.. You show to all of us your love and passion.. You also our passion and love, my friend.. I Embrace you.. My affection, warmth and warm sincere love.. Yours Lyudmila..
My dream of watching him perform live is gone, even after having the tickets of his latest concert in london…..Whole world will miss his presence and he’ll be remembered as one of the legends in Music,,,,,Hat’s off to such a personality who took so much critisicm and still died with proud and great feelings,,,
Rest in Peace MJ…!!!

Dearest Mr. Bachchan,
A very nice and touching write up,
and a wonderful tribute to the legendry Michael Jackson from the legendry Amitabh Bachchan.
I loved reading your words about him, and your recollections of these beautiful events.
Actually I am not a great follower of his news or his music, but I know only a little and limited number of his songs, and I always admired them and liked the way he used to dance. Sure, he is a remarkable artist, and it was shocking and saddening knowing about his sudden death.

Mr. Bachchan,
What a great post. Although I was born in the mid- later part of the 80’s. Even I grew up enjoying Michael Jackson’s music and trying to imitate his awesome dance moves in Denmark. He was a legend with awesome music and paved the way for so many artists. Michael Jackson redefined the music industry and the music video. I hope he will be remembered for his great achievements and find peace.
Best wishes!!

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I’m sure it must have been a great privilage for him to have met you as well. Life is so fragile .
Have a great Weekend sir.

Dear Mr B,
A very reflective blog from you today at a time when Michael Jackson is no more with us and in a world where nothing is black or white.
I still cannot come to grips with the sudden demise of the icon, the king of pop. We grew up watching Michael Jackson, rise to dizzy heights and create the “Jackson mania” all over the world. We would imitate his famous ” moon walking ” as ten year olds and not once have we got it right or come anywhere close to it. Who can forget his performances on stage, dazzling and gleaming in his silver clothes and those silver gloves that shimmered on stage like a thousand moons.
And thriller, a video of unimaginable sequences for that time, I must have watched the thriller video a hundred times over the years. Billy Jean, Black or White, Bad , Dangerous,Man in the mirror, we knew the lyrics by rote. The music video he made were grand and larger than life.
Jackson was a man little understood in his later years and led a very solitary life, probably stemming from an early history of abuse from his father, failed relationships and media mismanagement. The last ten years he spent facing lawsuits and tried to get a grip on his dwindling career, but in spite of it, his fans would be in a frenzy whenever he was in public view.He was planning a comeback tour this year, which never eventuated.
We miss you Michael, your music will live on. I am glad I grew up listening to your music on my first Sony Walkman which I would take to bed with me in the early 80s. Your music lives on even if you sleep, on a soft pillow, in your much loved Neverland.

Indeed, it’s a great loss for the world of music..your description of your first chance to see his show is so lively..I read it with anxieties going up and finally felt like having watched it all closely..
Love you,
Hiranmayee
What ? Michael Jackson is no more ?? Alas, how did it happen, very sad to hear it !!
Wil post after reading more about it.
Salaam Amit Uncle,
I was a huge fan of Michael Jackson, back in the 80’s..I shared a room with my sister who loved Duran Duran…We had to split the walls in the room…she got the full shorter wall and the empty space above the headboard and I got the longer wall on the other side (the other wall was all window). I went to see MJ in concert…for the 1984 Victory Tour…twice.; once in NY with my friends and then again in Toronto, with my family. I never screamed so much..well not since going to “our” shows…It was an awesome show…I tell you…I was such a huge fan that I bought a white glove and sewed sequence on it, to replicate the infamous sequenced white glove…I have no idea where all that stuff has gone…I’m sure it’s in a box somewhere…
Back in high school, I used to take vocal music as part of my curriculum. We had to choose songs, practice them and perform them for the class…I was such a big fan, I bought the EP (Extended Play) LP, which had 2 versions of Thriller on it…A side was original, B side was instrumental. I practiced the dance routine, got some of my friends from class and performed the song…what a riot…I can only imagine Abhi bhaiyya’s rendition too…hahaha Unfortunately, (or maybe FORTUNATELY for me), there are no records of this for public consumption..heheheh But I thought I’d share to give you a good laugh too.
Love always,
Dil se
Pat
MJ May you rest in peace….
Dear Amitabh,
I love your blog. MJ’S Death, somehow remided me of Shakespeare :
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears!
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them,
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Caesar.
Time will tell, what the world will remember him for.. His Music will live on though.
Regards and Love
Hello Amitjiee,
Sad news for all of us.
Could you please share picture with you and MJ ? Would be rare collection for all of us.
Thanks

Hi Mr. Bachchan,
Really enjoyed your post today honoring the legendendary King of Pop. As a child of the eighties I grew up on his music. I actually wore out my Thriller tape from listening to it so much. It’s so shocking to me that he is gone, I wish I had the chance to see one of his concerts, you witnessed something for the ages. He was that rare artist in America that appealed to everyone, we all enjoyed his music. I still find myself at times trying to do his moonwalk, but nobody can pull it off like him. Thanks for sharing your memories with us.
All the best,
Sarah in the USA
Hello Sir,
It was so nice that you shared your experience of how you made it to MJ’s concert and how you met him for the first time… i am waiting for abhi’s video on thriller…
Alefiya.
I am so devastated to hear of Michaels passing. I feel I grew up with him, he’s always been in my life - as have you.
Your descriptions of meeting Michael are exactly how I would have thought they would be. Michael always seemed to me to be a humble down to earth person with so much love he wanted to share with all his fans.
God rest his soul and look after his children and family.
Sheena x
Your experience is marvellous. The way you wrote it is the best tribute that Michael Jackson could get. The way he stood in front of you in the hotel can be called destiny. He created the loudest bang in pop history. And how did you remember each detail after so many years? Thanks that you wrote such a marvellous blog just for us.
Amitji,
I was happy to read that you met MJ in person, as if I myself met him and heard is shy, humble voice. Yr description abt his concert in FL is hilarious. I will miss MJ sorely but am immensely thankful for the legacy he left behind, a wealth of soulful music.
I had written this poem in tribute to MJ (and posted) in another forum close to my heart….and here I am posting this again…since you seem to echo my sadness at the great loss.
The first time I heard your voice
It pretty much sounded like noise
I must have been 4 then….
I can’t remember exactly when.
I used to wonder why Sis likes you
Little I was, your voice was so loud and new.
Then one day I’d seen you dance
I gazed at you as if in a trance.
You are super start I heard,
Soooo different from the regular herd.
For years after, you rocked the World with you
You were “un-known” not even to a few.
You are but so young!
You left with out a final song?
I long to go back to initial trance
To the magic you set as you dance…
My love for your songs will never cease
May your soul Rest In Peace.
Amitabh,
you can call yourself a lucky guy for having met that guy several times alive!
Although I didn’t like him that much, I really think he was one of the greatest musicians and dancers of the 20th century!
Dearest Mr. Bachchan,
May his soul rest in Peace
I can’t believe we have lost another legend in our time. I’m glad you shared your personal experience with him. Its crazy to think MJ was on the other side of the door, you are the one and only Amitabh Bachchan so anythng is possible
Luv Shital

I have lost him . I don’t want to loose you.

Dear Amit ji,
Thanks for your elaborate blog on Michael.May Michael’s soul rest in peace. It is surmised that Michael passed away due to stress, fatigue and pushing himself hard while training and rehearsing for his upcoming string of shows in London. He also had broken his leg and vertibrae while practising and was on painkillers, which are also being investigated. It has been very sad and the world has lost its one of the finest musical genius.
Thanks,
Vijay Gautam
Dear Uncle,
Yes, indeed a true star gone forever. What a sad news. My family admire his art. It is a true lose. I am just wordless. May his soul rest in peace.
Kind regards.
Wow thats amazing Amitabh Sir , one Legend meeting another!! and that too by chance is incredible just seems so planned by destiny..had to happen.
Dear AB,
While I was reading this piece I was struck with a sense of Deja-Vu. I would describe my ( And millions of others) fascination for a legend called AB in similar gushing tones and similar experiences of one fleeting glimpse, a handshake in a sea of humanity, a soft Hello from you and something that we savour, remember and proudly brag about for a lifetime !!!!
I saw the Unforgettables in San Francisco last year and the instinctive travel, standing outside the stadium with throngs of humanity ( Although the tickets, thanks to internet, didn’t require a touts help:) almost echoes what millions have done for you.
So here’s another connection that with the guy we adore…is as human as us…in his adoration for other idols !!! Way to go AB. Pl. share Abhisheks pics dressed as MJ with your EF !!

Irreplacable loss to the world. MJ was beyond legend, beyond boundary. He was gathering himself after 10yrs of struggle and health, financial debt to comeback to salvage himself. Now its seems that….to die. How can god be so cruel??????
He is in much better place and at his peace now.God bless his soul.RIP
Dear Sir,

Dear Amitji,
It is indeed very sad to know about Michael Jackson’s demise, losing an Artist is like losing one more reason to smile… May his soul rest in Peace.

My Dedication to Michael Jackson
Death of an angel
In the midst of sudden stir,
I hoped for deliverance
But prayers remain unanswered,
Is this thing called injustice
From the divine,
Or a part of another grand design,
I stand resigned over twisted fate
Acceptance is forced
But heart still refuses to let go
Like streams that flow uncertain,
Distorted in lost ambition,
Life or death in whose hands
Only god knows,
Grieving faces shedding tears
Reason of life and reason of death,
Who will know the reason
Searching in vain over the years.
Is life a blessing ?
Or resigned acceptance to a thwarted fate,
There is a battle of life waging in the body,
What is the reason behind a receding breath ?
Is it a final fight before death,
Or a struggling conscience in
The final clutches of breaking fragments,
Immortality doesn’t have breath
In a still body,
Neither can tears reawaken the dead
Is life about searching for grace
In the turbulence of fragile emotions,
Mortality is a boon or curse
Answers are distorted in a ceasing glory,
Life has a start and an end
In motions of life that reveals colour
And ends in the utter dark,
Fragrances of youth ebb,
But the heartbeat remains faithful
In the final stalling, though oldage,
Nimble foot that was in grace
Now stutters behind a lengthy veil,
When the curtains shall be drawn
And we living eyes grieve
Hoping through curious eyes
Trying to see past the curtain
But the stage is set for divine interpretation
Where humans cannot trespass nor question
The wisdom of the other side of the curtain
Dear Sir,
Thanks for sharing your experiences of meeting with Jackson. Great to know that you also have been fan of MJ and are extremely unhappy, like all other fans like me when he has departed. Like you, Michael was relentlessly chased by bloodhounds who you call MEDIA, but unlike you, he chose not to speak, and keep to be a punchingbag. You have done something smarter: to fight with these guys like you fight on screen. Sometime back you wrote on your blog that ‘…only when people know that you also can hit back when they stop hitting you’. It is very correct of not only the media, but today’s society also.’ Had Michael decided to fight with the media, through one way or other, he would have faced less trauma and ordeal.
Jesse Jackson said to a TV interviewer that Michael was telling him that many people let him down, but he told Michael that Michael has never let his fans down. It is they who matter in the end. Michael was working extremely hard for his upcoming shows and had he been able to complete them, they would have gone down the annuls of history as something greatest any music artist has produced. His career would have truly resurrected.
The same media is now fondly remembering him as the greatest pop musician and dancer ever lived. Shame on them, who never allow a simple man like MJ, who never had a single police case against him, who never hurt any one, and was a thorough gentleman, to live in peace. May Michael’s soul rest in peace. His legacy and musical energy will live forever.

Mr Bachchan and any EF in the UK
In case you are home this evening there is a choice of two different tribute programmes to Michael Jackson on TV - one on 4Music 1900-2300 and one on Channel 5 at 1900-2000.

what a moment … AB meets MJ … legend-meets-legend
The King of Pop has gone, forever……
Michael Jackson…was for me a source of inspiration…i still remember being this awe struck little girlie…and the one thing that would strike me,each time i watched his videos…was his will to rise to the pinnacle…he just send such a strong message…that no matter which caste, creed or nationality u belong to…it’s your will, that paves the way…my heart aches for his children…if only he could atleast make a come back…Thank you Sir..for your tribute.
Take care and loads of love.
Warm Regards,
Prerana
sir what a beautiful post
i hope finally michael gets to rest in peace and that his true talent his music is all that finally will be his lasting legacy
Mr. Bachchan,
Really sad to hear about Michael Jackson. Growing up to his music and dance, I think everyone whether boy or girl at some point in that era dressed up like him, attempted to dance like him and buy his music. A real tragedy indeed. I do hope that his children are taken care of and may God take care of them and the rest of the family. This week has been sad for the people in US. First it was EdMacman, Fara Fawcett and now the sudden death of Michael Jackson.
Sujata.
The king is dead.
I am 30 and have started to see people whom i adored and admired and wanted to die for ,dying.
Michael will rank with handful of very original and great artist of last century- beatles, presley, sinatra.
He started at the age of 5 and his voice got tired till he reached 35.Fame, fortune, extreme wealth started to get to him.Playing with his body ultimately did him in.Chemical implants, prescription drugs abuse prevented him from waking up from sleep at age of 51.Paul from beatles is still alive, his elder brothers -all look hale and hearty.
When he left, he had no one to actually call his own.He was did in by lack of strong family bonding which allowed him go into recluse, into his own world of absurd desires and longing, a world of drugs, implants and things not seeming natural.
My heart felt condolences to the KING. Michael Jackson will always live in the heart of millions of his fan.
Rest in peace Man.You were great.
fascinating blog !! May MJ’s soul rest in peace.
I don’t know how to address You?
As I have grown by seeing your personality and lived presence on silverscreen. You are more than inspiration to me, a Guru (not even a Teacher). Its still when I become sad on my vision for life (its huge though, I dont know, but I am determined for that, as it comprises comprehensive lift within), I used to see Deewar, Trishul, Agneepath. That gives me the energy to come up back to make struggle more with precision, ethics and dedication.
On this sad eve of mourn for Michael Jackson, I wanted to convey a message to Media people(especially News teams who looks more on half empty glass and forget to note half full real “Madhu” within such perosona, and argue rubbish to them), that take care such personalities while they are on earth instead speaking after they depart. As they are “boon” to mankind from God, to show path, this too can be achieved, they come once in Millennium, they are precious please provide better hospitality while they are on earth instead you know what I mea.
Thank you my Guru!!! (Shri Amitabhji), for reading my this comment if you did.
I wholeheartedly wished since child hood (I am at 31), to meet you in person one day, and I will!! If someone finds it too much emotional, it might be their inert disability to judge a Sea with bucket and bucket’s gratitude towards Sea.
All the best wishes with you Sir, Anand.
amitji–is ash/jayaji,shweta family all with u in london? what shopping u guys did?
pl let us know how u liked new york movie? read–Katrina Breaks Down: I can’t believe I can act so well
By Subhash K Jha
Last week at a special screening of Kabir Khan’s New York Katrina Kaif broke down after she saw what was on screen.
“It was embarrassing. This has never happened to me before. I was deeply moved by the film. And I couldn’t believe what my director Kabir Khan had achieved in my performance. I kept staring at myself. ‘That’s me!’ I exclaimed at the end of the film.”
This is the first time that Katrina has played a character who echoes her own personality. “So far all my characters have been pretty alien to me. Even the London girl in Chandigarh in Namaste London was not at all like me. But the girl in New York connects deeply with me. Or do I connect with her? It’s symbiotic, I think.”
When he saw what synthesis of ‘actor’ and ‘character’ had been achieved she simply broke down.
Remembering that evening Katrina says, “It was a very private screening. Only members of the cast, our director his wife, the producer and his wife were there. I’ve never been so impressed by any of my films.
So far they’ve all been in the orbit of escapist entertainment. New York is my first realistic film.I’m proud of all my films. But this is new chapter in my career.”
Katrina will be devoting the next two weeks solely to promoting the film. “So far our producers Yashraj Films haven’t allowed us to talk about New York. Even now I can’t talk much about it without giving away the plot. But I’m very proud of what we’ve done.”
I can’t believe it. still can’t believe it!
its so hard to believe
I LOVE YOU MICHAEL JACKSON
:(

I have only now returned to my apartment and computer see the latest posts.
I enjoyed the story of your experiences even though I am in a completely different musical universe. I did like the Jackson 5 and remember the songs from my childhood. But in the late ’70’s I hated disco and the music of Michael Jackson although I have to admit he could do those great moves. And ‘Thriller’ is a very entertaining video. I don’t hate that song as much as most others. But I got into punk music in 1978. Punk rockers and Michael Jackson don’t mix. I don’t like most of mainstream music. But that is just my different taste.
But of course I was very sad and shocked to learn of his passing.
Just last week at opening day for the Cyclones, one of the best impersonators there was the Michael jackson one. I even took a picture of him. And I had just seen ‘him’ at Madame Tussaud’s when I went to see your statue so I feel as though he has been in my presence recently.
I love the story of the wrong door. For all of us that would have been the ‘right’ door. He sounds as though he was a sweet man but without ever having a chance to live a normal life, as I heard someone comment yesterday.
Later I go back to the city to see ‘New York’.
Love,
Rochelle
hi uncle…
if i rem his album Thriller was the first English cassette that my dad got me…i still have it in my memories chest…(though it might not be working)…the best thing a person can achieve in life is when people speak for him/her after their demise.. i think MJ has achieved that…there are fans following him to keep him alive in thoughts…and he ll still be remembered by experiences (like that u had)…MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE!!!!!!
Dearest AB ji,
It was very interesting reading your encounter with MJ, it seems like you have been on the other side, walked the walk of a fan, going that extra mile and experiencing all that trouble with your brother while just recovering from the accident is remarkable. Thank God you both got the opportunity to meet & speek to each other, the two iconic entertainers and legends meeting. Hope he had an idea of your fan following and how much you are loved and valued throughout the world. We love you more. God bless you.
It is a big shock and feeling of emptiness although, I can’t procailm to be his fan. I have heard his music and seen a poster as he’s naturally a universal icon and pop star with the beat of the music which could make anyone rejoice. It was later after moving to USA that I got to see his performance (video) and enjoyed this entertainer. I did not believe those scandals that tarnished his image and it seems that he must have died with a broken heart as he was very much misunderstood, seemed sad & lonely though there were countless of fans all over the world who loved & adored him. The media hounded and created sensations with malicious stories because he was so different, may be somwwhat wierd but none would have experience what he has been through, he seem to have missed being a child and normal growing up. May his soul rest in peace.
Loads of love & respect,
Susheela - TN USA
Dear Amitji.
The thriller’s gone, but his memory will remain for ever. There are no words to add to your incredibly brilliant obituary to the greatest entertainer of all times, Michael Jackson.

I am shocked and saddened at the passing of Michael Jackson. The first concert I had ever went to was his concert for the “Dangerous” world tour. It was just as you described, a mass of humanity, a bang of music and light, and almost magically he was just there on stage! It was simply awesome. We were also lucky to be able to get tickets to his amazing concert. I’m just thankful that I was able to see him perform live.
I will remember him for his incredible music, and unbelievable dancing skills.
Rest in peace, Michael, you are the King of Pop forever.
Love always,
Harmeet (Vancouver, Canada)
Dear Amitji,
I thank you a lot for the lovely blog on Michael Jackson, a man whom I grew up on… My idol. I have been running his fanclub http://www.clubmj.com since more than 10 years now. It got authenticated by the Michael Jackson management and his music label as “The Official Indian Michael Jackson Fanclub” - http://www.clubmj.com . I composed and sung a song for him called “THE MICHAEL JACKSON ANTHEM” which was downloaded by more than 1 million people worldwide. Apart from that organised charity concerts in the name “HEAL THE WORLD CONCERT” almost every year donating about Rs. 1 lakh earned from the ticket sales to various charities, without any celebrity involved.
As you might have observed Michael Jackson was always hounded by the ruthless media and people never showed support at the right time. You as a person who has never been known as a MJ fan publicly wrote such a beautiful blog. I have been reading your blogs everyday and responding as you must be aware. I have a small request for you. Can we use the contents of your todays blog on our fanclub website, since it represents the Indian fans. What better could we get than having a foreword / introduction by India’s biggest celebrity!?!? Please reply here or on my email.
We fans are very devastated with everything. Especially die-hard fans like me. Haven’t slept last night and I can’t seem to sleep this night as well. You can read about our club activities on our website as well as various newspapers tomorrow. Thank You. God Bless
May Michael’s soul rest in peace. He will always stay eternally alive as THE KING OF POP who redefined the definition of live performance and musical genius.
Thanks for the team who endorse posting, for me!!! This is my first communication with Shri Amitabhji be it virtual for now.
Again, best wishes for you and your family Sir!!! Anand.
sir
you are very lucky to meet him personally…
thanks for sharing…
may his soul rest in peace….
May his soul rest in peace….
Mr. Bachchan
Just a simple question?
How long back or did you ever, hold the hand of a dirty, malnourished orphan, with the sheer intention of gifting him a mometary smile?
If I get you a bunch of dirty looking, foul smelling, sometimes disease prone, kids, with stuffed noses and nails, who have nowhere to go and no one to look after…i am sure your heart will reach out to them…but honestly would your hands reach out to them too? ….to give them a tight hug….with love.
How many educated, rich and famous people would go beyond writing cheques to charities or funding ‘foundations’?
I am MBA from a premier Indian B School and am ready to sacrifice my full time career to serve a cause. I have churned tons of money myself, owing to my well paid job and potetial. However, I still need YOUR help. I am yet to find out whether I should hope to get it. please let me know as my hopes would die out beyond a few more days of your blogs….

Sir,
I was born in the early 80’s and my building’s boys gave me an introduction to MJ. We used play his audio cassettes on our terrace almost ever day after we were done playing cricket. In out team was also a kid from the local rickshaw wala - he was welcome to play with us. The thing that struck me most, was that MJ was able to move and affect this seemingly illiterate kid, who never understood the lyrics but sang them anyway. There was something so fundamental to MJ’s music that neither language, nor education nor culture stood in the way of the effect he wanted to create. When the beats started, it didn’t matter who you were - what was your background, your body was in his command, he would make you move, make you dance, and make you happy. Come to think of it, how many artists are there in the world who can do that and transcend all barriers so effortlessly? None, I say. We’ve lost the Da Vinci of Music with MJ gone.
Many people seem to focus on the controversies of his life, people who choose to focus only on the negative. Even if MJ was acquitted by court, many people still think him guilty in some way, all the while ignoring the many generous deeds he did. Many people judge him by his obsession with cosmetics or sex change, all the while failing to understand that such extraordinary art often comes with its own eccentricities. Who can tell what extraordinary personal events and experiences did MJ have - which inspired him to create the way he did, people are often content with the final work without regard to the source it takes for such work to be conceived.
He was a most CRITICAL part of my life, my heartfelt sincere gratitude to you - for doing him justice in your tribute. Thank You.
Regards,
- Sanket K
P:S:: Your writing voice is every bit as REGAL as the actual. It is a pleasure and a great honor reading this blog.
Amit Uncle,
I heard too that Adnan bhaiyya’s father passed away on Monday…My sincerest condolences to him and his family….
Love always,
Pat
Amitji,
Whats an awesome writeup, do you have pictures of you with MJ:).
I relate to everything you have written here about rushing around and trying to get tickets and things, definately didnt know you would have to do that:))
Truely saddening that MJ passed away yesterday, he sufferred so much as a child and had alot of negativity given to him throughout his life…he passed on at 50, King of Rock and Roll, Elvis died at 42…so unfortunate to loose such talents at such an early age..
Im glad you had met him in person, loved you incident why he press your doorbell by accident…incredible..
We also lost Farrah Fawcett the blonde, from the original Charlies Angels of the 70’s she passed away from cancer at the age of 62 and also Adnam Sami’s father who you visited in hospital is no longer:(
All the best always

Thank you for sharing some excellent memories of yours with Jackson. He was truly an excellent artist…really we all will miss him a lot..
Rest in peace, MJ…

Very, very sad. I was shocked just like the world when I heard this news. One of the most talented artists of our times. Its amazing to see all his fans react to this from all over the world. Too bad he is not there to see this. He died a very sad lonely man. I wish the world would have treated him better when he was alive. May his soul rest in peace.
Dearest Amitabhji,
It was so kind, gracious, thoughtful of you to write and dedicate this blog to THE ONE AND ONLY MICHAEL JACKSON, The videos of the cute little boy MJ and so many other videos remains alive deep in our heart and HIS music which swept grammys will keep our feet tapping, hands clapping and body shaking forever. There is HIS music. This will remain HIS music. No doubt about it. Said a small prayer that his soul may rest in peace.
Thank you MJ for giving us the music, style, moves which is the best, better than the best and will always remain the best. Did he knew something was coming, his creator was calling him, that he was to begin his farewell concerts on 13th July? God sure knows.
Happy viewing of the video on Abhi dancing to the ”Thriller” and I am sure you will hold on to your tears. I say this because I had a bit of difficulty today to hold mine.

Dear Amitji, you write so well that it makes me wonder if Bollywood’s gain has been the literary world’s loss!! I’m sure if you wrote your autobiography, it would be a best-seller.

AmitJi -
So Big B get star struck too! Nice to hear that and as ever, it makes you more and more real to me.
MJ is a talent like no one. I hope his personal flaws and vulnerabilities are not spotlighted in this hour of sadness.
To me he has the same effect as I’d have when I’d listen to a soulful, Indian classical number composed by God Incranate Thyagaraja or Annamacharya.
Please let me join the club of MJ madness - and let me rejoice the august company of Amitji in there.
Had an ESP that you’d deliver today, a sincere homage and I never go disappointed from this Big adda.
Much love
L addanki.
People are essentially loving and compassionate, I’ve discovered. Unless some grevious harm is done to them or their loved ones in their tender years - then the abused becomes the abuser when he grows up - otherwise “normal” or rather, the “average”, ordinary people are good at heart.
MJ’s death has saddened even those who are not particularly his fans because 50 is no age to go. At this moment, nobody wants to remember his child abuse, drug abuse and self-abuse - all those cosmetic surgeries. So, on the one hand you have people mourning him without being judgemental.
On the other hand Mj himself was a victim of abuse at his own father’s hand. Moreover, he struggled from a tender age to shine in a racist country. So when he grows up with a huge inferiority complex, what does he do? Compound it. Sad.
So much talent. So much love to give. So much waste. To me, his life had become sadder than his death.
Your anecdote about his knocking on your door and you standing agape is so cute because that’s exactly what must’ve happened a zillion times when anyone suddenly found themselves staring you in the face.
I remember Sarika telling me in hushed tones how she once stepped into an elevator humming absently… found you in there….polite ‘hellos’(you’ll had worked in Satta pe Satta)and then, after you walked off, she rode back upstairs to tell Kamalhaasan, “Guess who I just met….AMITABH BACHCHAN AAAAAAH!”

Dearest Mr Bachchanji,
I’m back from my appt, so now I can talk again…
The heart just pours out for MJ, words just can not demonstate for the legend who portrayed a unique style of his own in the music entertainment world!!!! … Showers of commiserations for this musical genius. Sheltered world of his own, but a great talent in profession. He sang ‘You are not alone’ from a man who led almost a very lonely life himself, despite billions of fans globally…. HEART BREAKING FORGETTING ALL THE FLAWS WE REMEMBER THIS MOURNING IN HISTORY FOREVER….
Amithji, we all know you are blessed, so thank you for telling your EF that you were even more fortunate to have personal encounters with the music king, WE ALL MEET PEOPLE VIA OTHERS A BLESSING OR DREAM WE CALL IT OUR FATE…YOU WERE THE LUCKY ONE TO MEET THE MAN THAT BECAME FAMOUS AS THE GOLDEN 5YR OLD CHILD…
Condolences to his family & esp his children, so young, and totally oblivious to world outburst.. so sad.. God give them strength and courage at such difficult and unpredictable times…
In the early hours of this morning, as I opened my front door to greet the rubbish (dustbin) men, to collect their weekly tasks, they came surprising from different nations, a couple of them Russian, and a couple of them Polish, they spk in soft voices in thier language with sad faces, and their rubbish truck in the near distance, was blasting out with ‘Billy Jean’ music with all windows and doors open…. What nationality did not know him ???
Just heard the recordings of the 911 call.. so hard to digest, it still remains a shock.. such star power for a human being that could dance, sing, write a remarkable electrifying talent of the greats… His music will live on forever the King of Pop.. has not died but become eternal!!!! The world of entertainment has lost it’s most precious gem, regardless of his personal, private or financial status he will never be forgotten…
Makes me sick that it has not even been 24 hrs since his death, & pathetic sad jokes of his character are already flying around via txts & emails…. SUCH SHALLOW MINDS… THESE INDIVIDUALS NEED TO GET A LIFE, FAN OR NO FAN EMPATHY NEVER HARMED ANYONE!!!!!
I can not comment any more…
Great blog; brilliantly written. Thanks.
Dear Amitji,
Very nice blog today on MJ. He was a true genius.
Looking forward to your post of Abhi’s video.

Hi Amitji,
A very sad day for the music world. We will miss Michael jackson’s talent. God give him eternal peace, something he did not enjoy on this wicked planet.

It is a very sad week seeing more that one person going who have great reputation with respect. I do feel very sad especially seeing Michael Jackson go, but life just moves on. I am grateful to have access to your blog with the extended family that does keep me happy and feel good inside as well. You are a very nice person and feel that now I got to know the real Amitabh Bachchan. Time just flies and just getting older. What we could do when we were younger, we cannot do now.
take care,
Aman.

Dear Amitji,
I am responding to day 430. We too are very passionate about reading your blog!
love,
Rina
Hi Amitabh,
I only just read your blog for the first time today. I must say you write rather well. I guess if this acting thing doesn’t take off, you have something to fall back on
About MJ, I think Thriller was one of those one-time sheer works of pop genius that no one can replicate. Not even MJ was able to capture the magic of Thriller in his own later albums. It was the height of his prowess. Look at the video to Beat It.. every dance move in it, every line of the song, every shot, all executed so perfectly not just by MJ, but by everyone in the video. Its sheer entertainment from start to end. Way too slick. I haven’t seen anything so awesome after that by any other performer.
Hi Amit uncle,
It’s terrible that we’ve lost a legend THE KING OF POP. I was so shocked when I heard what happened. I remember dancing to thiller last year.
May his soul rest in peace!
Today is my birthday I am turning 15 years old! It would be great if you could wish me!
I posted on your previous post but you didn’t respond so if you find time to wish me then it would me great!
Sir - your tribute to the king of Pop is special and unique.
What an experience - of all the people AB buying tickets from touts and making a last minute attempt to get into the show and being mesmerised for the 3+ hours forgetting the trials and tribulations to try to get to Jacksonville to see him….This was his kind of magic.
I saw him at Wembley Stadium when he was doing his world tour during the “Thriller” days and what an awsome experience this was. We must have stood and danced for the 3+ hours without feeling any restraint or tiredness at the time…He truly knew how to entertain!!
God works in stange ways - fancy MJ knocking on your door at the hotel in NY and MJ saying to you, “Sorry wrong number…” Wow this is an amazing tale.
There could hardly be soul who did not know about MJ and did not dance to his music.
How did you spend your day in London today?
Have a good evening.
Rajesh

Wow.. what a recollection of memories. Thanks for sharing this with us. MJ will never fade away no matter what, like you .. he will always be…no one can or will ever take this place where he was…
I was really surprise by his demise yesterday and then it hit me that one day we won’t be here…
Hello AB,
Thanks for sharing your experience with MJ, I think MJ was to USA what AB is to India now.
I am in USA now, and I am watching the way media is handling this news, though MJ was part of many controversies, and died without resolving many of those, today media is really missing the king of pop for his real strength, and that is his songs! I hope they should have recognized it when he was with us all without interfering with his private life.
MJ was really a great singer, an awesome dancer, an icon, and a true global brand!
-Harish
Dear Mr.Bachchan,
Michael Jackson. Entertainer with no parallel! Great music, musician, and really took the art of video to a really new level! God bless the soul. Thank you Michael for the music, for the lovely music videos. Unmatched talent, and huge void in the world of entertainment!
God Bless Once Again!

Dear Sir,
That was indeed a very generous tribute you paid to the King of POP!
And I can never imagine you did what you did to get into MJ’s concert!!!!!
Crazy! Absolutely crazy!!!!
You swear you ACTUALLY did that?????!!!
Abhishek dancing to “Thriller”?????
PLEASE put up that video for us…. please Sir!!!!
And by the way, do you remember that even YOU did a Micheal Jackson in one of your movies?????
Lol…. It was Manmohan Desai’s Ganga Jamuna Saraswati. Although I don’t remember the song, but it was the first song of the movie and you did MJ’s famous MOON WALK!!!!!!!!
Although I’m sure those were someone else’s feet super-imposed on yours during editing, but the effect was quite make-believe!

Your encounter with Michael Jackson was interesting to read. His death could be called a great loss indeed although I never was his fan even during his peak days when the world had the MJ fever. But I had liked watching his “Thriller”.
Many controversies entwined around him in his later years of life.
May be he will rest in peace now in god’s den.

Dearest Amit ji,
A great artist has gone.. The atmosphere here in UK is of shock also, just like rest of the world.
So he knocked on the wrong door !!! Seems hard to read a superstar relate his experience of meeting another super star… Very humble of you sir…
Waiting for that video of abhishek…

Yes, sad indeed…but you were among the lucky one who had met him face to face.
Quite simply, he is one of the very rare persons in this world who would be recognised and known by billions of people…a small children from ethiopia would know him , an old man from greenland would also know him…there was some type of charisma he carried. Not to forget a generation of stars from hrithik to prabhu deva swirling on his steps….

Hello,
It is definately a sad day. We have lost a great performer and children have lost a father. We must remember that he was more than just MJ he was a brother a father a son. He has left people that need time to grieve. I send my condolences and hope they find peace.
I find comfort in your post and enjoyed the story you have of your experience. How long are you in London and have you visited Glastobury?
much love and respect

Michael Jackson: The Man Who Wasn’t There
John McWhorter
I have been telling friends for fifteen years that Michael Jackson would not live past fifty, although I didn’t expect to be so precisely on the mark. An overdose, a botched medical procedure, or maybe just something as fortuitous as a car accident.
That is, I sensed nothing as mundane as a death wish or as common as self-destructive tendencies. It just always seemed to me that there was something unreachably and definitively absent about the man. For all of the eclat, there seemed to be nothing actually there – surely, before long he would just blow away.
I was no more immune than anyone else to feeling a loss oddly incommensurate with the fundamental evanescence. I grew up hearing the boy-child version of Michael crooning the Jackson Five’s hits in that creamy falsetto, and in college, he helped me cope with the drudgery of my dining hall job as one cut after another from Thriller became a hit and played endlessly on the P.A. system. Almost every song on that album had the precious quality of bearing hundreds of listens – to this day, who in America doesn’t jump to the dance floor upon hearing the opening vamp of “Billie Jean”?
Apparently even Iraqis do: the New Yorker told us recently that Michael Jackson is preferred music among Iraqi prisoners. How many other American pop songs of 1983 get them moving? People not born in 1983 can do snippets of the dance Michael did in the marvelous Thriller video. Ever try to do a moonwalk? Even if you got kind of good at it, Michael Jackson doing it can still take your breath away.
In the early eighties there was a good deal of talk about him as the world’s greatest entertainer – and it was a rare instance where the hype was more than that. People used to say it about Al Jolson – but the modern viewer is baffled as to what all the fuss was about. They said it about Sammy Davis, Jr. too – and while he holds up better than Jolson, nothing he did makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. With Michael, there was The Voice, The Moves, and a whole somehow greater than the sum of the parts.
The problem was that as he got older, parts seemed to be all there was; the whole became increasingly difficult to perceive. The skin bleaching was strange enough – and his telling Oprah that it was vitiligo and expecting to be believed even stranger. Here was a black man – and one who was a megastar — actually using the kinds of products that look so peculiar and degrading in ancient black newspaper advertisements today. And then the facial surgery, which made him look not only whiter but more feminine.
The question, which he never even ventured an answer to, was why. Who was this personnage supposed to be? White? Gay? Perhaps we were to allow that he was just being “him.” But leaving unanswered just who that “him” was supposed to be was, most charitably interpreted, too far ahead of our times. It left him a faintly gruesome cipher.
Or, why the high voice? As males mature their voices deepen: “High Talkers” of the kind depicted in the Seinfeld episode are vanishingly rare. Michael’s castrato-style vocal tone was an affectation, more alteration, as it were, although likely one that became so much a habit for him that it was, in essence, him. How many men do you know who talk in a light falsetto 24/7?
One cannot help noticing a possible connection with Jackson’s vaunted identification with children and his desire to inhabit the realm of childhood as an adult. And plenty of us are kids at heart – but most of us don’t talk like them.
Here we will recall certain unsavory allegations as to how concretely and in what fashion Jackson was interested in connecting with children, especially non-female ones. It is unnecessary to dwell on the issue at this juncture, but what we did know is that he went through decades of adulthood without any outwardly apparent normal romantic relationship with anyone.
His relationships with his wives were rather oddly formal and brief – when Lisa-Marie Presley made sure we knew that their relationship included sexual relations, what was key was that she would feel the need to let us know that.
Never did we see Jackson with her or the other wife cavorting and consorting in the fashion of Brangelina or, in better days, Jon and Kate. These were “wives,” not wives – recalling in Michael’s earlier days his purportedly “dating” Brooke Shields. Today having become real to us with her memoir of postpartum depression, Shields back then was a rather saliently blank model and sort-of actress – for him, a kind of paper doll, i.e. “date.”
Who did Michael Jackson really connect with? He was not one for hanging out with men or women of his age group, for example. Ask most people who Michael Jackson’s best friend was and the answer would be Elizabeth Taylor. However, open up your laptop and start with a blank page. Your job is to script a scene between Jackson and Liz Taylor. How would you begin? What in the world did they ever say to each other?
During an interview with Barbara Walters, holding hands with then-wife Presley, Jackson mentioned that his father had sometimes scared him so badly that he regurgitated into his mouth. The childhood was horrific, in a way that would have left most people scarred. Jackson’s response was apparently to seek a childhood he never had – but doing so as a grown man can only mean spending your life playing a part, even if you no longer know you’re doing it.
It was sad to see. The essence of Michael Jackson as an actual human being was so elusive that it was especially flabbergasting to hear him, when making a public cri de coeur against his prosecution for child molestation, actually referring to something as immediate as an examination of his penis. More typical was his appearance on an early episode of the Simpsons – in the guise of an obese white man — and uncredited. Concealment as always, not really there or of this world, albeit in the world spotlight.
This quality of his was such that his career was likely over long ago. Thriller was perhaps the last moment when hit pop music for people beyond tween-age could be so basically innocent and unprobing of the individual soul. Even back then, part of the charm was the arrangement – his vocal skills acknowledged, Jackson didn’t write or orchestrate that opening vamp to “Billie Jean” nor did he create the dense festival of sonic joys under “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing),”which are certainly part of the reason I have now purchased Thriller three times.
But even by Bad in 1987, Michael’s crotch-grabbing in the video of the title song was a “bad” move indeed. It was fake – looking more like Diana Ross every year, he looked about as plausible taking a page from increasingly popular rappers as Bonnie Raitt would have. It wasn’t him – at a time when pop was more and more about exploring the self. As time went by the hit singles were fewer and farther between. “Scream” from the HIStory album in 1995 was the last song of his that got around in any real way.
Six years later when Invincible never really rang the bell in the old way, Jackson interestingly cried racism (against Tommy Mottola). But if anything, the problem was that by then the question as to his own blackness was decidedly abstract. Or at least, he wasn’t “real” as it was put by then. By 2001 black rappers were all over the pop charts with cuts about themselves, in da club, in da car, in da hood, in da honeez, all up in dat bizness, whatever – rap is all about the “I” as some more literary-minded aficionados have it.
But “I” is exactly what Michael Jackson never wanted us to see, if he even knew what it was himself. Interestingly, a Michael Jackson circa 1980 would be a smash on American Idol today – but would likely fail to get much of anywhere afterward like Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard. Winning over a cross-section spectrum of American call-in voters today requires a certain faceless, generic quality that does not translate into stardom in the real-world market of niches and attitude. Jackson was on his way to becoming a nostalgia act.
Michael Jackson’s was an entirely constructed self. The temptation to call this “quintessentially American” in the vein of the story of our President’s quest for self-definition must be resisted. The self that Michael Jackson constructed was a mask. Fittingly, Jackson was last officially sighted in public through the window of his van, wearing, as apparently was his custom, a veil over his mouth – i.e. a mask over the mask.
Michelangelo said that when he sculpted the David statue, David was already inside the block of marble and his job was just to take away what was not David. Jackson worked against nature’s endowment just as diligently, but surely the pale wraith he became was not something that had been waiting to see the light of day. Rather, what Jackson seemed to find was a negation, a mangling of personhood – what else can we say of someone attending a court date for child molestation in his pajamas? The irony is that despite this man’s towering stature as a keystone of American popular music’s history, there is surely a part of all of us that sees the man as more fortunate resting in peace.
Michael Jackson: An Imperfect Icon Who Was America’s Global Face
John Nichols
This is a big world, with many remote corners where America is known only as a distant and different land. But Michael Jackson touched almost all of them.
The music star’s death Thursday, at age 50 after suffering an apparent cardiac arrest is an international event. And we ought to recognize why that is so.
For all the eccentric – and ultimately unsettling – behavior that would see the “king of pop” ridiculed as the “king of weird” –-or worse– Jackson was for a significant part of the 1980s and 1990s as much or more the face of America as Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush or Bill Clinton.
“He brought human beings together across the barriers of race and class and gender,” explained Michael Eric Dyson, the author and commentator who is a professor of sociology at Georgetown University. “He projected into the world (the genius and strength) of African-American culture.”
The better part of a quarter century before Barack Obama was credited with remaking America’s global image, Michael Jackson presented the United States as a country where an African-American kid from Gary, Indiana, could on the basis of remarkable talent and drive become fabulously successful, fabulously influential and fabulously wealthy.
One did not need to revere Jackson or his music to recognize that at a particular point in this country’s long and complicated history of wrestling with its better angels and darker demons, the singer projected to the world the sense and the promise of a multicultural and tolerant United States.
For a time, on the basis of the enormous popularity of his Off the Wall and Thriller albums, he was not just a dominant figure in popular music. He was the dominant figure in popular music. Inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – as a solo artist and as a member of the Jackson 5 — he earned 13 Grammy Awards and 13 number one singles as a solo performer — achieving worldwide sales in excess of 750 million albums.
The key word is “worldwide.”
Jackson’s 1991 hit “Black or White” charted at number one in the Australia , Austria, Belgium, Cuba, Denmark, Finland, France, Israel, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the Unites Kingdom, Zimbabwe and, of course, the United States.
“Black or White” was an angry song with an anti-racist message that was reinforced by a video digitally enhanced to show Jackson smashing windows with graffiti reading “KKK Rules” and “No More Wetbacks.” The ubiquitous video featured the singer dancing with Africans, Asians, Native Americans, southern Asians and Russians.
Jackson was not an expressly political artist — he told Ebony magazine in 1992 that “I never get into politics.” Yet, because of his immense celebrity in the 1980s and early 1990s, his determination to treat people with AIDs respectfully (like that of Princess Diana and Elizabeth Taylor) took on significance that was both political and cultural. That commitment was most on display, following the death of Ryan White, when Jackson used public appearances – particularly one at Bill Clinton’s inaugural gala — to plead for more funding of HIV/AIDS research and care.
Jackson’s charities were many: programs for refugees and the victims of violence such as Warchild, the “We Are the World” project and his own Heal the World Foundation, as well as the the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, the Red Cross, UNESCO and for many years the United Negro College Fund.
His stumbles, especially in recent years, were disturbing, at times horrifying. There was about this desperate manchild more than a hint of the tragic and self-destructive.
The tragedy and the trials will be remembered, for a time.
But, as with Elvis Presley and so many brilliant artists whose lives ended after their stars had been tarnished, it will be the iconic influence – an influence stretching across boundaries of race, class, gender and nationality — that is most remembered when we speak of Michael Jackson, and the ultimately most significant.
‘King of Pop’ leaves the legacy of a boy prince
Famous since childhood, singer was never comfortable in adult world
COMMENTARY
By Michael Ventre
Most kings are destined to be remembered as kings, not as the person they had been before ascending to power. Even though Michael Jackson earned recognition as the “King of Pop,” the legacy he leaves is that of a boy prince.
Michael Jackson was never comfortable in the adult world. Early on he recognized he would be the happiest in the land of Ferris wheels, cotton candy, docile animals and 24/7 playtime, and he clung to that life. He looked at film of the Jackson 5, circa 1968, noticed the front man was a kid, and wondered whatever happened to that boy’s childhood.
Michael Jackson passed away today. It’s always sad when parents outlast their children. It’s even sadder when the inner child and the adult can’t decide who will go first.
In 1966, when Michael Jackson was almost 8, the Jackson 5 was born. Soon after, these talented young men from Gary, Ind., found themselves playing in seedy nightclubs and dodgy strip joints. That isn’t so bad, in most cases. The musical artist who demands only a dignified path to stardom usually spends a lonely life in the garage or basement. Humble beginnings, or even humiliating ones, come with the territory.
But when you’re a kid, and your father is pushing you ever harder to work and achieve and succeed like Joseph Jackson pushed, the road becomes mean and the spirit turns cold. Michael’s boyhood was Dickensian, even though he grew up in a tight African-American family from an unforgiving industrial region of the Midwest that went on to become rich.
The world knew that Michael Jackson — the 8-year-old with the mini-Afro, the 1,000-watt smile and the footwork of a vaudevillian — as being perennially upbeat. But inside, he had to be wishing that he could skip the next gig and hang out with some kids his age. He had to be lamenting the fact that while the family was going places, he wanted to remain behind a little longer in childhood.
As he grew older, he became a greatly admired creative force. The “Off the Wall” album in 1979 sent his star into a new galaxy. “Thriller,” in 1982, became the biggest-selling album of all time. He had movie projects, he bought the Beatles’ catalog, he did “Captain EO” for Disney theme parks, he co-wrote “We Are the World.” He seemed to have his gloved hand in everything.
Fame made him tabloid fodder
But amid all the success, there was the residual dissatisfaction and longing. The more famous he became, the more he seemed to withdraw from the attention, usually in highly peculiar ways. Much of what was written about him was fiction. Yet because he had a chimpanzee, because he owned Neverland Ranch with all its childlike wonder, because he seemed to alter his physical appearance with each public appearance, he was constant fodder for the media, legitimate and otherwise.
He also made headlines with two marriages, first to Lisa Marie Presley and then to Deborah Rowe, with whom he had two children. The scrutiny intensified.
Like any showman, Jackson drew the spotlight to himself. He was quiet, soft-spoken and fragile, but he knew the business as well as anyone. The freak, the eccentric, the “Wacko Jacko,” might all have been unflattering descriptions, but a lot of the buzz was the result of his own orchestration. He knew that when Michael Jackson set one foot onto any stage, the klieg lights would illuminate it. And when he could work it to his advantage, he did just that.
The struggle between the naïve child and the savvy grown man turned Michael Jackson into a riddle of which the press and the public never grew tired.
The interest was never greater than during Jackson’s trial on sexual molestation charges near Santa Barbara, Calif., in 2003. He was eventually acquitted, but it revealed the most inappropriate aspects of Jackson’s desire to be among children. Whether you were a cynic who felt he was a pedophile who escaped justice, or whether you were a supporter who believed he was a misunderstood genius who only wanted to help people, he certainly seemed to invite trouble, whether through naivete or lasciviousness or a strange brew of both.
After that, there were various Michael Jackson reports. He was living in Bahrain. He was living in Nevada. He was preparing a major tour. He was pondering an extended engagement in Vegas. He lost Neverland Ranch. He made a deal to save it.
What usually was missing from any Michael Jackson report in the past 25 years or so was the music. There was a time when soul and rhythm and blues ruled, when Motown was a dominant force in the record business, when acts such as Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross and the Temptations and the Four Tops and Marvin Gaye were as big in their world as the Beatles and Elvis Presley were in theirs.
They didn’t get that way through subterfuge, gimmicks or spin. They crafted radio-friendly songs that were vibrant and passionate and original, and they made an impact on the music business that is still felt today in newer generations of artists.
The Jacksons were right in the middle of all that. They produced hits such as “I’ll Be There,” “I Want You Back,” “ABC” and “Never Can Say Goodbye” that burned up the charts and remain pop classics. Then Michael went solo and combined songwriting prowess with performance legerdemain to become one of the most astonishing acts ever. Songs such as “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” “Rock With You,” “Billie Jean,” “Beat It” and “Thriller,” to name a few, have endured — and will endure.
Perhaps those songs will make future generations forget about the unusual and the unfortunate involving a modern-day prince with king-sized accomplishments and a child’s imagination.
what a loss for the music world. MJ was truly the king of pop. He was the pioneer in break dancing. May his soul rest in peace.

Dearest Amitabh,
So sweet, your recollections of Michael Jackson. How great that you finally got in, that first time in Jacksonville, after going all the way from New York. And how exciting that you got to meet him and his mother. A nice memory for you.
It was a shock to everyone. A talent like that gone, and so young. There will be rumors on top of rumors for a while about why … some are saying he had an injection of Demerol 45 minutes before he stopped breathing, and if true, it could well be the cause. But whatever the cause, it’s sad to see him gone at such a young age. I’ve put him on my prayer list.
Aloha from Hawaii …
Love, Dorothy
Dear Sir,
such a fantastic description; almost was able to visualise the tour thru your description. You are indeed magical.
Love,

Dear Amit jee
Thanks for sharing your experience with M Jackson. He will always live in the form of his music and great songs…May God rest his soul in peace..
Dear Sir,
Just found your ‘blob’ - quite by accident… Googled your name and there was something claiming to be a blog actually written by YOU! Imagine my surprise to realize that it is indeed written by you. How wonderful! I come away from this experience realizing that you are a very geniune individual. I so enjoyed reading your words, getting to see how you articulate your feelings. I guess I am most impressed by your unassuming, down-to Earth, ‘common’ man attitude. I have seen many of your films and I own several DVDs. This makes me unique since I am just an ‘ordinary’ American girl from Texas, not Hindustani. You have always impressed me on the big screen. I would like to tell you that NOW you have impressed me in print… You are a class act. Thank you, sir, for your ‘blob’… I will be reading it everyday for as long as you are writing it for me.

Oohhh …There is very little point in correcting in my spelling error at # 14 this late in the day. But I won’t rest if I leave it!….Just for the record …Of course I meant “legend” in reference to MJ and not the rubbish I’ve written.
Thank you again for your fabulous memories of MJ. It is very generous of you to dedicate this space on your blog to him.
Goodnight…enjoyed the multiple- post -treats today!
Love Jasmine
RIP MJ!
I have only witnessed amazing audience reactions and a 10-20 minute long standing ovation to 3 people in my life - Amitabh Bachchan, Michael Jordan, and Michael Jackson. 3 icons, 3 legends in their respective fields. RIP Michael Jackson The King of Pop…your music will live on forever.
Dear Mr Amitabh Bacchan ,
Death is assured , whether you , me or anyone in this world. But do you know what after death ? what is the purpose of this life ? I am no big philosopher nor am i a great thinker. But as per the teachings of the Supreme Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita who is the supreme lord himself gives this knowledge but today the value for this knowledge has diminished because of a lot many reasons , and the cinemas being the prime reason for it. If at all one studies or tries to understand the teachings of the lord in Bhagavad Gita one would never appreciate the artificial life led by any of the personalities who claims to be celebrities in the modern age , since their lives are not perfect. They are not living as per the rules set up by the creator of the material world.
Sir I would request you to please go through this article :
I am posting this for the 4th time , this article is written by a higly qualified person who is a brahmachari since last 10 years and he has done his MBA ( Mumbai university gold medalist).

I’m not a fan of Michael Jackson, I like some of his songs, but what made me write this comment is how you talk about him,
personally, he won my respect and that of many of my generation by creating his own art, his own style, a unique way in music.
through your words, I respect you more and more by paying homage to those who are changing the face of the planet.
God bless you and thank you being Amitabh Bachchan
sincerely yours;

Hey Rajesh the infamous AB MOONWALK was in..
“..pyaar ki dhun sunata hoon..dance naya dikhata hoon…DISCO BHANGRA! ”
..and you call yourself a fan..!! lols!
hehehe..!
Hi Sir,
I am grieving the death of this Legendary singer, music composer, dancer and song writer. This guy was truly gifted. But he died so young. And look at the irony. Just when he was embarking on a tour titled ‘This is it’ to regain his lost glory and pay off his debts, God said “This is it, for You Michael”. This thought just left me wondering if God was unfair to MJ. But then, who am I to question the divine !!!
When are you returning from London ?
Love you more than the words can say,
Shuchi
Amit ji,
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR MJ STORIES, IT IS SO HARD TO IMAGINE SOMEONE LIKE YOURSELF WALKING AROUND LOOKING FOR TICKETS, I THINK IT SHOWS US JUST HOW BIG A STAR MICHAEL JACKSON WAS! HE WAS KNOWN TO BE A LONELY CONFUSED PERSON, IF ONLY HE HAD SOMEONE LIKE YOURSELF TO GUIDE HIM IT WOULD HAVE MADE SO MUCH DIFFERENCE. LET US HOPE AND PRAY HE IS NOW IN A BETTER PLACE & AT PEACE.
LOTS OF LOVE (as always)
YOUR NO.1 FAN FROM UK
Dear Amitabhji;
It’s a sheer shock and pain to learn that Michael Jackson has left this world for heavenly abode at an very early age.May God rest his soul in everlasting peace and my prayers and thoughts are with his children and family.I have no words to explain how much I loved his music, dance and charisma. He is simply incredible and incomparable (as you have rightly said).I am so happy Amitabhji that you have dedicated today’s blog in his memory and I also consider you to be very fortunate having met and talked to such a personality. He will remain in our memory in years to come.

Thanks for sharing your memories with us, sir. For years my only exposure to english music was MJ cassettes.
Smile always.
we can’t judge ppl by the story we hear or the picture projected by diff. media.
& BTW who are we to judge a legend like Michael Jackson!? what we ppl. know about him is what we found out via media.
and hey ! USA is a country of lawsuits. very hard to find out the truth. ppl can’t afford to get into those kind of mess so they settle outside the court & get out of it. same thing happened in MJ’s case. that doesn’t make him a guilty party. he knew some ppl tried milking him & obviously succeeded! huh !
THE FIRST TIME WHEN I HEARD BEAT IT….I FELT MUSIC VERY GOOD BUT DIDN’T UNDERSTAND THE LYRICS THEN GOT ITS LYRICS AND FINALLY MAKE IT OUT THE WHOLE SONG….AFTER THAT HE HAS BECOME A RAGE BETWEEN WE SIMILAR MINDED YOUNGSTERS….MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE……THERE WON’T BE AGAIN ANY MJ IN THIS ERA….WE MISS HIM.
REGARDS,
MANOJ KUMAR OJHA

Hi Dear Big B
Very nice story about MJ. You are so humble and down to earth. Being a superstar yourself, you have dedicated the entire post to Michael Jackson.
Ritesh
For any of us who were kids in the 80s, yesterday we lost something we never realized was so vital. Michael Jackson provided the soundtrack to our childhoods. He was the voice of our teenage rebellions, and of our emerging social consciousness. I am slightly shocked at how much his death has affected me, but the saddest part is that someone so universally adored never seemed to be comfortable in his own skin, never happy with who he was. I was one of those people who always secretly hoped for a triumphant comeback. I can’t believe we’ll never hear that voice again except on recordings.

My Dear Mr. Bachchan
what else can i say…i’m sad! the world has lost a great legend!
Thank you for sharing your great memories of Michael Jackson, with us.
I’m proud that you have met him in person….he will live on through his music… may his soul rest in peace!
My love and prayers for you and your entire family …all EF
Have a good night!

Dear Mr Bachchan,
Thanks for taking us in a journey to your past and meetings with MJ. May his soul rest in peace. For some reason, I watched only a very few of his music videos in youtube and haven’t listened too many of his music. May be I am missing something here, but I must go back and listen some more.
May his soul rest in peace
Amithji,
Back again, I felt it important to express my points of view after reading the article that you gave to Midday paper..
You make such remarkable statements about your EF! The EF being your passion!!! I comprehend, and by now have the sense to understand that a sort of adrenaline burst kicks in with you, to get those fingers tapping away, to easy that frustration, the excitement, over the keyboard. A day’s events, your thoughts, your work, your father and rest of the family.
The urge to express yourself with those that you can not see, yet you feel them, they reach out to you, and you touch them. YOU SAY EF IS YOUR PASSION, YOU ALSO KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE PASSION OF THE EF TOO……….
They long for your responses, a sheer word from you is an enlightenment in their lives, a sort of down to earth reality, an acknowledgement of truth!!!!. The excitement of getting even closer to them through all in modern techno..
The curiosity that boggles my mind is what suddenly made you decide after all these years the passion and commitment to connect with your well wishes ???? To want a public domain, where all could express their free points of view , some good some bad??
At first did you realise it would become such an obsession ? the need to be loyal to your respondents ?? The feeling of guilt should ever a day ibe missed of posting ? Did you ever envisage the success and response of today’s outcome ? The nose of the media to interfere and exploit or promote at thier own leisure ?? Yes many many questions I wish to raise.. but hopefully one day I live in hope to be able to ask you personally…
Thank you for your kind words mentioned in the newspaper, I too value your friendship, this bond that you have allowed and religiously announce to pursue!! Your devotion to your EF, and their infatuation, weakness, adoration and partiality to you… YOU ARE OUR MJ OF INDIAN CINEMA…
The end of a legend for a fan, is a revolution that is so unexplained, completely out of the mind’s reachable force to illustrate. The thought is killing… a part of the human body torn apart… one just does not even want to imagine…
I wish to stop here.. it is getting impossible to ever imagine, yet a fact of life for all of us.
Look forward to see little Abhi in ‘Thriller’ when you get time to post upon your return home.
Saroj and Sonal N Simran, thank you my darlings you are too kind, I lov you too xxxx
Just finished watching the biography on MJ………..
Lov as always
goodnight Mr Bachchanji
Anu
Dear Sir,
MJ has left this portal world……….but memories of his unmatchable talent are immortal and will always be cherished…….!
The way you have described your appreciation and respect towards this one and only one dancing artist of this millenium….I am impressed with you as well….my respect towards to you have gone by several notches up…..!
Right now……I am watching “Shakti” on Sony TV….power packed performance by 02 biggest performers you and Dilip Saheb….!
No need to mention that what MJ was to dance AB is to act…….!
May the soul of MJ rest in peace….!

Dear MrB.
I just viewed and read the last few posts together. I hadn’t checked since yesterday.
Isn’t it sad that Michael Jackson passed away at such a young age. He had a troubled life from which he is now freed. But it would have been much better if he could have been able to resolve his issues. He has kids afterall who are now orphaned. And such a talent! What a loss!
What a lovely eulogy to MJ have you written, MrB, with a surprising ending to boot. I haven’t had the good fortune to see an MJ concert but had always thought that I would be able to one day. Now that day will never come.
Thank you MrB, for sharing babuji’s poem. SO poignant. Sometimes things get so turned around and warped that there isn’t anything else to be done but laugh. But to reach that point is a journey indeed.
I loved that first picture on the article you have posted. You look smashing and very cool. How effortlessly words come to you. Blob..Ha..I never thought of it that way. But then I was not really hooked onto any blog before you. And even now you remain my sole addiction. Thank you for getting addicted to us as we are to you.
Love,
Shobita
Dear Amitji,
It is very sad that MJ has gone. I was not a huge fan of him. But as a human, I feel his loss. The entire day, everywhere, it is the news of MJ- his death, and to such a way- he suffered cardiac arrest, and even when he was so popular/ celebrity/ and rich- he could not be survived!!!! That is an irony! or a fate if you can call it. Of course, his popularity never was questioned, but he did suffer some setbacks. May GOD rest his soul in peace.
love
Ashesh
I was the first person to post about Michael Jacksons death news on Mr Bachchans blog (the previus day).
Amitabh ji,
You are doing great job by writing in this blog, you are connecting Indians origins from all over the world, that is really invaluable.
MJ is irrepairable loss, its like losing Princess Diana or losing Rajiv Gandhi.
Even though they are not related to us but they are admired and loved and respected for the feat they achieved.
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
You are damn lucky. Michael Jackson was standing in fron of you. Wow! I would surely faint or maybe speechless. My introduction to pop music was through his album ‘Thriller’. Before that I knew nothing about Pop music. I remember vaguely, that my elder brother used to listen ‘Boney M’ and ‘ABBA’
Please do post pictures of Abhishek in ‘Thriller’
I pray for Michael Jackson. May his soul rest in peace.
Take care.
Nandita
Hello Amitji,
How r u?
Yes, indeed it is a shock and very tragic for MJ to pass away so young and sudden. You describe so vividly your encounters with MJ. Thanks for sharing it with us.
You know I am In live in LA and every radio station today was playing his songs all day long. Everyone is extremely sadden and there will fireworks in his honor this week. Of course, all over the news and printed media.
It is bizzare!
God Bless,

Michael Jackson! A Legend! A Star! A Child! A Genius! Many adjectives to describe him but many questions will sadly remain unanswered in his death. Why do artists who are closest to God suffer such fates? From Marilyn Monroe to John Lennon to Elvis to Guru Dutt, Madhubala and many many more…? Those who lived amongst millions …live in splendour..why do they invariably die alone and die so tragic?
Amitji, your memories of MJ and your experience of the ‘82 concert seems to be so fresh on your mind that I can imagine the impact it must have had on you. You have penned your feelings, as always so sensitively and beautifully, it brings one to tears to think that this man who rose to such heights almost Godlike, died in just a few moments and even all the money and wealth could not save him… Destiny does have its strange ways of bestowing humans with extremities and these are the mysteries which we will never understand.
I cannot believe such a great phenomenon, a wave of energy, a phantom of vibrancy is gone..in a few moments..just like that?
May he find the peace and happiness he was always looking for in his life..after his life.
MJ will be missed and this world has changed with him gone.. actually he is alive in the hearts of millions..

Amitji, what a great piece of writing on Michael Jackson.
I must admit I have never met him but my children do possess his albums, which I bought for them few years ago. Yes, I also loved his songs especially “The Thriller”.
He truly was a legend and will remain so forever in the hearts and minds of all. Although I have listened to the album more than my children have.
It is truly sad to hear him pass away in peace.
Not to forget one of favourite actor Farah Fawcet also died few days ago. She was a great actress.
Your clips from the article from the Mid Day newspaper are truly from your heart. God bless you for sharing these thoughts with the EF.
We also promise to keep blogging on the topics that are of interest to us.
Regards to you and the Bachan family

Hi Sir,
Yes, I am a Michael Jackson fan too, maybe not a very great one.
But 50% of my english songs knowledge are his songs.
thank you.
Saikarun.
Sorry MrB, I forgot to mention a few things, which if you have noticed is per usual..haha:-)
I wanted to say how sweet it was reading that you were star struck when you opened the door to reveal MJ at your doorstop. And also that I had been thinking of asking YOU if you were ever struck dumb by meeting anybody, besides Dilip Kumar that is when you were a little boy. And now I have the answer to my un asked question. This kind of thing has happened quite a few times with me here on your blob..oops blog.
I hope you manage to upload that video of Abhishek dancing to thriller when you get back home.
Love..
Shobita
Amithab ji, I have been your fan ever since I have known to watch movies. The mere possibility that you might read my comment excites me….if that happens…I am communicating with YOU. It is the kind of awe that you held on MJ. I don’t know if you reply to comments. I knew that you blog, but this is my first visit. When you met MJ one-on-one at the hotel, I don’t think you would have narrated how you were one among the rest catching a glimpse at the concert. Did you? You are humility personified, just one blog says so much about you.
We will miss the “KING OF POP” for sure…..
Sir while I was reading the blog I had goose bumps when you were talking about meeting the King for the first time.Must have been an exhilarating experience even for man of your stature.
I am keenly waiting for abhishek’s party recording…
RIP Micheal Jackson.
Love and Peace
Hi
Very well description of what MJ has given to all of us and recounting of your meeting with him made an interesting reading…
Looking forward to the clip / pix of AB jr dancing like MJ…
lots of love as always

Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
Beautifully written with such kindness and personal touch tribute to Michael Jackson !
As sad and tragic as his untimely departure is - through your writing his memory is conveyed as a great celebration of his talent and unparalleled performance.
I knew some of his song clips from my younger years shown on Russian TV. It was a rare and exciting exposure to western music. His style was explosive and unmatched. Later in life I was not very attentive to his work. But I saw a documentary about his life and family and it was very interesting and well done.
Especially I recollect now that the ending of his clip “Black or White” made a big impression on me - where the people of different races and genders appear through the animation technique like being one human changing shapes. I thought it was greatly done. Somehow, when you posted on your blog the photo, of the cylindrical screen from the museum in Paris, with pictures of people of different nationalities, it reminded me of the idea conveyed in his clip - the wholeness of humanity…
Thank you for writing this remarkable tribute with the personal account to this
extraordinary artist - Michel Jackson.
May his soul rest in peace.
I wish you to have a good day and may all be well with you and yours..
God bless and take care.
With much love.

Tonight I’m going to Jackson’s star in Hollywood. I’ll try to place a flower as close to his star as possible. His star opened to public this morning at 9:30 and all day they’ve reported fans gathering around his star. I was dying to go from work, but I would have had very little time to get there and return. Michael Jackson was my introduction to western music, even my intro to America and American pop culture. At that age his music and style was nothing short of breathtaking. I had a poster of him and listened to his audio tapes in my walkman. Ofcourse at that time there were no CDs, atleast I had never seen one. This was around 1985 86. His music had a positive message, and encouraged self reflection as well — ‘man in the mirror’ , ‘we are the world’, ‘black and white’. It’s unfortunate I could never see him in a concert, eventhough I had serious plans of catching him in his UK tour. It wasnt meant to be plus it looks like most shows were already sold out.
Take care and thank you for sharing your thoughts on MJ.
Dear Sir,
Yes MJ’s exit is a loss to the world.
I would lik eto quote one thing which suits to all of us, big or small, successful or fail and that is
“DO NOT LOOK WHERE YOU FELL, BUT WHERE YOU SLIPPED”

My comment gets axed so nothing today
Amitji,
You are a great writer..The post is wonderfully written..
And MJ was a great musician..I got my first recognition as a dancer when I tried to imitate his moonwalk on the stage, which I think was terrible but to the audience it was something unusual and unseen and hence led to my appreciation :-), all this when I was in 3rd standard..!!..
I loved him and will miss his music..!!
Cheers..
Shashwat..
hey!
where did my comment go?
That is so aggravating!

Hi Amitabhji,
I have enjoyed michael jackson video in teen age. I have had his autobiography in my college days. He started his career in real early age. He must be a winner through out his life. I would like to salute to departed soul. we will miss him.
God bless his soul. How do you feel now. If too much sleep is your enemy then try to be occupied. Talk often to us EF. Ha Ha. My parents are your age. My mother is same age as yours and father is 2 years elder then you. They complain the same physical signal of aging. why do you worry our shoulders are for you.
sincerely,

If you enter this world knowing you are loved and you leave this world knowing the same, then everything that happens in between can he dealt with.” - Michael Jackson, Oxford University, 2001
I pray his soul Rest In Peace
My dear Sir,
Good morning to you.
It is a great pleasure reading your blogs, I feel so connected to you even though you are so many miles away.
Well, I totally agree with you - there is NO REPLACEMENT for the Pop-King Mr. Michael Jackson! “Everyone wanted to dance like him, dress like him, BE him. But no one came anywhere near.” - Very true. Great loss for the Pop Industry! (May he rest in Peace – Amen)
I’m very much looking forward for the birthday party recording of Mr. Abhhishek Bachchan, dressed like Mr. Michael Jackson and dancing to ‘Thriller’!
Have a great weekend & enjoy your stay in London.
Take care,
With lots of love & respect,

Respected Amitji,
Dont know how i missed yesterday’s post.. Here my daughter says.. Maa u dont take breakfast without reading ur favourite AB’s blob.. blog??? Hmmmm.. I said.. ‘ THATS THE POWER.. HE IS A HE.. MAN!!!’ . was thrilled looking at the way u have written about the bolg, EF.. ur passion, ur affection.. Was touched and honoured!!
What a big loss to the Music industry.. THe one who created a niche for himself and to the whole perspection of POP MUSIC and DANCE..
Ur anecdote of struggle to watch his concert was awesome and ur subsequent meeting with him.. was too good.. He should be extra thrilled that India has produced such stalwarts such gems as Mr. Amitabh Bachchan..
What is more appreciative about u and we are extremely proud..is that u dont miss a chance to dedicate ur writings to another great personality in any field whether indian or of different origin.. with so much of respect and admiration..
Waiting to see Abhishek’s photo dressed as MJ..
lots and lots of love and tons of respects

I have seen the film ‘New York’ tonight and it is OK but not great. I couldn’t really get into any of the characters. To me the film was missing something-maybe ’soul’.
The college days flashback was too cliche and there was too much slow motion but I’ve seen this problem before. The western actors weren’t as horrible as they sometimes are in Hindi films that I’ve seen.
At the end, they spelled Barack with 2 ‘r’s which is inexcusable.
Goodnight -for the first time in 3 nights, I don’t sleep in a bus.
Love,

I wrote this in one of the poetic moods! * hope u like it** OR may be you don’t.:(
One day perhaps, I will be a shepherd
Away from the cars and czars
Silently roaming in the prosperous grasslands
To feed the hungry cattle
And give them the only solace of food they want
For they do not know the love which we all hunted for in our lives and yet did not get
And Money, we all chased and filled up as coffers in our banks and yet did not spend
For nether love nor money existed when we parted
For no-one to love and spend money remained around.
One day perhaps, I will be a saint
Away from the world in the woods
Mesmerizing with the godly nature
Chanting with the beads
Amidst chirping of the birds and roars of the lions
Fearless as I would have nothing to lose,
Neither my love nor my money
Not even my sanity to the evil
For no evil would exist around.
One day perhaps, I will be a star
Looking away from the earth so round
Moving with its own pace like a slow merry go round
Filled with water and yet so many thirsty crows around
Funny people who seem black or is it brown
Some one or the other always chasing the crown
One day perhaps…
another one
I am old, I am frail,
When I walk, I leave a trail
Slow moments and fatigue sting me
The world is no longer nice to me
When I smile I am alone
And I cry when I am alone
For loneliness is what I thought
For Loneliness is what I got.
People may think I am done
But I know I have well done
For little did I think for myself when I was young?
It was only for the others that I sung
I had dreaded this all my life
Always told this to my wife
That we would be alone some day
That the world would not remember us every day
And today is that day
When people don’t need me
My kids often teach me
Servants tease me
Only the medicines please me.
Soon will be the end,
The marks will fade from the sand
If I am lucky I will become a picture on the wall
And if I am not, people will forget me at the first fall
The gallows of death are hovering like eagles
A Life which was supposed to be elite and regale
Has not been much but a Riddle!
RIP MJ
Hi Mr. Bachchan
I loved reading ur post about MJ.Never knew that u ACTUALLY met him.I believe everyone across the globe must be going through some kind of nostalgia related to him, when they first heard his music, got a CD or a music
video, tried to emulate his moonwalk.
I also read ur article in MID-DAY’s anniversary issue.May ur dedication to this passion remain inseparable.
Looking forward to the old birthday party recording of Abhishek, dressed like MJ.
Take care
Love & regards

Amitji,
I am sure MJ must have enjoyed meeting with you.
Cant stop feeling sad, 80’s when i was a teenager, i heard him. WHatever you have written about the possessions of his videos and Cds is so true.
Exceptional talent from head to toe, loved all over the world but he found himself lonely. Strange life he lived.
Love and regards,
MJP
Hello Sir,
Even I am deeply saddened by MJ’s death!!

Respected Amit ji,
…
Do u know that u r
PANDE KAYASTH
do u think it amazing
did u heard that yr family was called
PANDE of AMODHA
…if not, then u need to read again
first chapter of
KYA BHULOON KYA YAD KAROON.
Yr father n great writer
BACHCHANJI
has described the story of origin of
PANDE KAYASTHAS
in detail in that chapter.
But he tells about only 600 yr old history of
PANDE KAYASTHAS.
I do have the history of 2000 yrs…
about the
PRATHAM PURUSH of PANDE KAYASTHAs,
whose name was
PANDE BHAV ROY.
He was the first DIWAN of first Nagvanshi ruler
PHANIMUKUT ROY
of Sutiyambe-garh (near RANCHI, Jharkhand)
days back two thousand yrs in 83 A.D.
The descendants of PANDE BHAV ROY have been known as PANDE KAYASTHAS.
71 generations of NAGVANSHIS ruled over JHARKHAND for 2000 yrs till independence
and 68 descendants of PANDE BHAV ROY served them as diwans.
The description and kursinama of Nagvanshi rulers
and their Diwans have been composed
in lyrical poems called NAGVANSHAWALI JHOOMER.
The details of PANDE BHAV ROY is mentioned in lyrical poem number 32
tells that he was SRIVASTAVA KAYASTH and resident of village BELCOPI.
While only one descendant of PANDE BHAV ROY in each generation could get the post of diwan,
others were compelled to go outside the Jharkhand in search of better jobs.
Probably one of the descendant of
PANDE BHAV ROY was settled in AMODHA
before somewhat 600 yrs ago
and his descendants would have missed details of their ancestors
n somebody had created a story,
which is described by
BACHCHANJI
in
KYA BHOOLOON KYA YAAD KAROON.
But BACHCHANJI starts the story by saying ‘it is told…’(kahte hain…).
He has not given authentic description bcoz he did not have facts…but I do have.
BACHCHANJI tells that a Brahmin gives his PANDEY title and janeu
to a kayastha ruler JAGATPAL SINGH of Ayodhya
bcoz he protects Brahmin and his daughter from the hands of an evilminded king.
But the fact is that before use of word diwan, the minister of the king was called PANDE in Jharkhand.
PANDE means a person who writes pandulipi about the day-to-day affairs of the king. His salary was termed as PANDIYA.
The post had become surname of BHAV ROY and thus he was called PANDE BHAV ROY.
And his decendents are called PANDEY KAYASTHAS.

I was just wondering to myself that it could well be a case where MJ, such a great man, the very greatest in what what he did (POP); could well be remembered for all the wrong reasons. And that makes me feel quite bad. Also makes me realize that the more celebrated a person’s name is, the more careful he/she should be, because a life’s work could be tarnished by one mistake!

HKG 27 June
A very befitting tribute from one artist to another….yes , with the going away of MJ ,music would never see what he showed to the world…. his world acclaimed ” black or white “.
Well reported by the media about your blog…. so that is your passion.
Came to HKG yesterday, amidst high winds and reportedly typhoon level T3, with an inverted T, meaning that the typhoon would not peak up. Today is also sultry, but being with my brother’s family including 2 lovely children, is all what I came for. So long. with affection
Dear Sir,
Your tribute to MJ is so well written. He really deserves it.
a genius: Composer, Singer, Dancer, Performer, global celebrity. All extraordinary talents combined into one. a legend who has inspired choreographers, dancers, singers, artists always. He was a child prodigy and a legendary entertainer who could maintain a record and career like that for over 3 decades.
Take care.
Tons of love and respect

Dear Mr B,
My hair stood on it’s end reading this blog. It felt like I was actually there with you during the concert. I could see the lights, hear the music and even heard my heart beat with the beat.
MJ - we all will surely miss you. He surely has gone to a better place. I think 25th June will now be remembered as “THE DAY THAT MUSIC DIED.”
RIP - MJ.

Beloved Big B,
I was just waiting for this post since yesterday. I wanted to know Ur feelings, Ur experience with MJ, whether U met or not everything. Thank You for this post. I surprise, why MJ knocked Ur door?? I have a feeling that it was God’s master plan to bring two legends face to face. I agree on Ur opinion, MJ singing, moving, dancing like he was from some other planet. There was hardy any human being who is not fan of MJ. yesterday, our Bappi Lahiri was on Air with one of our Bengali RJ, Mir, and expressing his grief on MJ’s death from London. How MJ impressed Bappida with his style, dress code, music and all, Bappida was describing as he has lost his ideal, he was expressing his lonliness. There are lot of Indian celebs who will miss MJ as their ideal. MJ’s place will be vacant, no one can take his place, he was God’s gift to us.
I thank U once again for dedicating this post on MJ.

I can not understand why.. but I know somehow I did.. I missed three consecutive posts from you.. one would have loved to write a few words for the famous and now dead ichael Jackson.. the way you wrote of him.. the way you discussed his rise.. the way you enlightened us of your interactions with him and above all the way you compiled this post post-Michael Jackson’s death.. I am sure he woold have heard it there where he lies now.. he would have heard it loud and clear odf the reminiscence of a life so phenomneal.. wherever Michael Jackson has left from this world.. it is very tue that he belonged to another world.. I may not have any such great recalls like you did n his intensity as he danced and sang his way to glory.. his story whenever retold would always put the music and dance lovers in great awe.. true he had the most felxible pair of bones and muscles on this earth.. he had a different kind of aura around him that could brighten up every other music lover.. everyone who had a privilege to hear him live would know what it means to him and what the others might have missed.. Michael Jackson’s Thriller was one which even I have danced to some times in a state of high.. He was collossal in his entire life.. He was unbelievably an outstanding performer that came on this earth.. he had this magneticism about him which defies any or many stories of his entanglement in life.. his maanerism had great following.. he could take the rest of us with him into another world.. a truly outstandig tribute to him by you has helped me to say something on the death of the global star.. The world will not miss him is what I say on this occasion.. for I know even if his albums, ideos and stage show were not as easily available to everyone who would have loved when he lived live on the stage .. but the times have now changed.. the media technology has possibly vastly improved to make Micheal avaiable to anyone and everyone who may seem interested.. I know Michael Jackson would be so much in demand even in his death that Googleand Wikipedia came to a halting stop.. Great performers are not born everyday but they do die some day has become evident to us once again.. his death was not as shocking as it could be yet it shook the world as the death of someone superhuman.. someone iconically extraordinary… someone who would never ever come back again.. Michael Jacksons of the world do nt die in their physical death they live forever with their music and performances forever.. Long Live the glory of the man and his music..

Sir,
a very touching tribute from alegend to another legend. I have never seen Jackson video. Just watched the clips on channels but his enrgy level was so high I couldn’t stop myself. He was a perfect artist and I don’t think any controversy was bigger than his magnificent performance.
Regards.
hello sir,

i agree with you that michael jackson was biggest pop star, his voice had same magic like mam lata mangeshkar have, sir i wish a nice day drink water a lot takecare
Bachchanji, Whatever happened to your movie Shoebite? I am waiting for it since I saw you shooting for it in Shimla last summers. Please update on the movies release date (approx) details.
Sir,
Its amazing how people like Micheal and You and many others remain ever so humble and few like Me, who are basically no one seem to be so proud and rude to all.
Humility is something everyone of us should untiringly pursue.
He was simply great.
Sir it is a great post .Thanks for sharing it will all of us.
DEAR SIR,
COULD YOU PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE TELL ME THE CORRECT SPELLINGS OF YOUR BELOVED SON’S NAME? IS IT MR. ABHHISHEK OR MR. ABHISHEK? ONE “H” OR TWO? WHICH ONE IS CORRECT? I JUST COPIED THE SPELLINGS FROM YOUR BLOG & PASTED IT TO MY PREVIOUS COMMENT – (PLEASE REFER TO COMMENT NO. 241). COS I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE. SO, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE BE KIND ENOUGH TO LET ME KNOW – MANY THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.
TAKE CARE,
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

It is ABHISHEK…
i have heard him many times, seen his videos, somehow, i dont find any meaning whatsoever in his dance steps or his moves. his songs lack depth in meaning. yes, may be good for foot tapping and hip hop. nothing much beyond that.
but it is nice to hear about him from you. AMITABH BACHCHAN buying tickets in black for MJ show is incredible news.

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
This is the first time i am writing in a blog. The events of the last 2 days made me write. The sudden demise of the king of pop Michael jackson shook me. I suddenly realised that i had lost a part of me, a part of my youth. It is very painful. This incidence made me think about you Mr. Bachchan who is the another person who is a big part of my life. I thought that i need to write and thank you for the amount of memories that you have filled my life with over the years. Thank you.
I am sad i was anable to say the same to Michael Jackson.
Respected Mr Bachchan
My name is Sweta Chowdhury, a counselling psychologist, trainer, healer and an author. I am 26 years in age. I extend training and counselling to corporates and family set ups.I also make meditation and healing an integral part of my workshops.
Sir, I have attempted to write a book on relationship management. It is called HAPPY HOURS, relationships on a high. The foreword for the book is blessed by Dr KIRAN BEDI and is being published by MACMILLAN PUBLISHING HOUSE. I am sure my book would contribute, may be in a small way to revive those family values that we have missed out.
I request a few words of encouragement from you which can be published on the back cover page of my book which would inspire and motivate people to read it and it might just bring a happy change in their relationships.
Kindly reply so that I can send u a synopsis of the book through mail so that you can be convinced with the work and then we can take it further from there.
Expecting your encouraging reply soon

I used to like MJ’s songs though was never a ‘Mad Fan’ of his..had friends though who were crazy about him.
His death definitely came in as a shock..specially when there was news of his comeback et al..though I must say he ‘Lived Life King Size’..taking everything in his stride..fame,riches, the controversies..etc..who knows maybe it’s good the way he went ..leaves a bit of aura around his personality…
Your narration was very interesting..specially the part about attending his programme live!!
May MJ’s soul rest in peace..would be interesting to know what he’d re-incarnate as…as posted by one of your EF’s!!!
Take care.

mr bachchan ……….sir im reminded how you write so lovingly about your two young grandchildren.I therefor wish to remind your good self that mr m jackson was charged on 7 cases for child abuse and previously stopped cases going to court with bribe monies amounting to tens of millions of dollars.May i suggest his work and celebrity are meaningless and at best he was one messed up individual.
Ravi… remember a quote i posted on my blog some days ago -
If you cannot say something good about someone, at least do not say something bad … the man is dead and gone and shall be unable to defend himself against any accusation that anyone may make against him.. in any liberal and free society one must be given the opportunity to defend himself, irrespective of the severity of any alleged accusation..

HI BIGEEST B………………….
SEE U SOON
Dear Amitji,
Firstly, thank you for your wonderfull comments in relation to the late Michael Jackson. A very fitting tribute. I would like to take this opportunity to share my thoughts in relation to the contributions that both Michael Jackson and yourself have had on my life. I have grown up in the UK and my only connection to my ‘roots’ was going to the Cinemas (You may remember the Natraj cinema in Leicester), and watching your movies from a young age, at the same time growing up and being influenced by the magic of Michael Jackson. More importantly it was the messages that you have both portrayed through your genius that have had the greatest influence.
I remember praying for you when you had the accident in Coolie. I remember going through hard times myself at the same time when in your career you were also going through a low period. It was through these times and the messages through your work that I realised and learnt from what you had once said, something on the lines of ‘it is not the number of times that we fall that is important but the number of times we get up on carry on’. Again this is something that I saw within Michael Jackson whilst going through the scandelous period in his life.
I firmly believe that you are both legends not only for your contributions through your art, but most importantly through your very persona’s and the messages that your life experiences have given us.
I pray the almighty gives peace and solace to the soul of Michael Jackson, and the strength to his family through this difficult time.
Thank you, to you both for giving me the strength in my life to strive to be the best in all that I do, and the strength to get through the difficult times.
Jay
Namaskar………….
Dear Mr B,
Hats off to you and thank you for defending Michael Jackson. Only a true man with class and dignity and sophistication can do this and you are one of them. ( RARE ONE)
Sharmila
Dear Sir,
I cannot believe how many of my comments were lost in the cyberspace yesterday. There were some very important posts from you yesterday to which I has commented. Day 429 I had commented twice having lost the first comment. I am rather tied up with work right now, what can one say.
My thoughts remain with Michael Jakson and his family.
Lots of love,
Daksha
Respected Sir,
I just wondered that u so close and so down to earth man. I have heard about your blog for a long time.. but wont make time to go through it from the war of being alive. Today only I just go through it and surprised you not only write, answered also for some special message to you. I really apriciate your this down to earth nature. I am thinking of that how much effort I had given for a ticket once you had been appeared for a Show In KOLKATA. And today I am writing you something Which is having a chance to read by you. Whether you read or not does not matter… today I am feeling happy that I am writing to a living legend , Sorry abt MJ, but still he was a legend far from our reach. At least I can read your experience which you have written hardly 24 hrs back.. Its a great gift for me.. Sir, take care of your health and keep fit.. We want to See you at least twenty years more.. And for a long time you are not coming to Kolkata.. Keep coming.. and Visit Kalighat, Dakhineshwar Temple..
Regards
Sanjay (Kolkata)

Thanks Mr. Bacchan for sharing your views about the death of Michael. We expect celebrities message about special phenomenon.
This is for Balmukund kiri.I was really annoyed by your comments regarding Amitabh ji. Who gives you right to intrude in his most private things. I guess you don’t deserve any reply from him.

Dearest Amitji,
Have not been able to keep in touch or read your blogs regularly.well , that does not mean that my love and affection for you has started dwindling…! It is the same as before. At times, I feel a bit dishearten that I never get a response from you.Well, who can say anything to ‘the king’ !!
You have defended MJ so nicely and truly. It is a big loss to know that he is gone forever.I loved his music and his dancing was super. He gave so much joy to millions of people around the globe. How can we forget that ? and why do we have to judge each and every soul on this planet ? I was reading a few things about his childhood and it brought tears in my eyes.May God give him eternal peace .I think he suffered a lot and each soul deserves peace and blessing of Him (or Her !! ).
I saw Bhootnath yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it.You were fantastic as usual. You have brought that haunting quality to your character.i would love to meet a Bhoot like that in my lifetime. I love you in this movie (too !! ).
Your affection for your EF really touches the heart !! Do not ever leave us.
sending you all the love together since I missed being with you for a long time,
take care,

“But”…..?
any regret….. or anything else…..do u want to share but not sharing….
Further to Mr Bachchan’s reply to comment no. 291:
One could hate MJ for allegedly being a paedophile (’allegedly’ because it has never been proved in a court of law), for doing things which are known as ‘wacky’ in our world, but does that take anything away from his genious? Why can’t we separate the art of an artiste from his/her personal life? Why does an artiste have to be an ideal human being who everyone can look up to, he/she’s a human being after all and a human being is bound to make mistakes, isn’t it? This is not to say that celebrities/artistes are above law and they can do anything they want, they should absolutely be prosecuted like any other citizen if found guilty (and may be even hated for their wrongdoing like any other criminal), but, does that take away the greatness from his/her art? For all the ‘wacky’ things MJ might have done, how can I not love him every time I watch the video of ‘black or white’ or ‘heal the world’?
accha amitjee , you only repl to people frm america .. luv ya sir ,rozana

Dear AB,
Such beautiful words….I have been hearing the new of the death of MJ all day for two days straight…..It was difficult to consume…I am not one of the die hard fans of his, but I appreciated his music and was saddened by the media splashes now and then that were ready to ’sum up his personality’…..It was a sad moment to see that he died at this early age…but the legend he left behind is what everyone will remember him for….I am glad to hear your own experience is such beautiful words summing the experience of someone who experienced MJ from outside…Your words brought out the exact feeling some many have felt…I am glad you shared these words with us.
Love, Krupali
May the Lord of the heavens and worlds give Brother Michael Jackson a place in Heaven and reward him for finally seeing the light albeit at the end of a tormented life.
God bless his soul. Amee.

Dear Sir,
One continues to feel the pain at the loss of this musical genius called Michael Jackson. Whatever the controversies that arose in his life, I would count him in the top five of the all time best entertainers this world has seen. He would have felt very proud had he been able to read your tribute to him. You have expressed it so well. It is true…fame kills! It robs one of his/her own being. Michael Jackson comes from a religious family. May their beliefs grant them all lots of strength.
Day 429 Post….Kat ti Pratimaon ki Awaz….yes…we all fall victims to this dreaded experience of life. No hope, no light, no gain situation. Just pain. One of the points I had made yesterday was that Sadhus and Rishis generally turn to meditation in isolation thereby escaping from the traps of “moh and maya” to which we remain exposed. These are the very sources which inflict pain. Us “sansaris” in a way face it and battle with it and put up with the consequences. We may reflect upon and accept all the human frailties and weaknesses but we shall not run away! If pain and suffering is unavoidable, I am here to embrace it, let it come. There are positive things going on too in life and they should help to dilute any negative experiences.
Thank you so much for considering EF to be your passion. It is an honour. If anyone has just one encounter with you the joy lasts a lifetime. If the encounter has lasted for 430 days, the joy will last many lifetimes!!! Daman mein itni saari khushiyan jo bhar di hai…a simple thank you from me to you.
Lots of love,
Daksha

Today this is what I received in my mial box.. not the first time that President barack Obama’s office has sent a collective email to me.. there have been atleast three more occasions.. Does it mean anything or does it mean nothing at all.. I find it means everything..
United We Serve Kick-Off
Posted by Cammie Croft
Last week, when President Obama announced United We Serve — he called on all Americans to volunteer this summer and do our part to rebuild our communities.
When he said “all,” he meant it.
Today to kick off United We Serve, First Lady Michelle Obama, Cabinet Secretaries, and Senior Administration officials have fanned out across the country to participate in service projects.
The First Lady is rolling up her sleeves alongside the First Lady of California Maria Shriver and Corporation of National and Community Service acting CEO Nicky Goren to help build a public playground at Bret Harte Public Elementary School in San Francisco. Defense Secretary Gates is spending time with our veterans at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Commerce Secretary Locke is reading to children at La Mesita Homeless Shelter in Mesa, Arizona. Just to name a few.
It’s going to take all of us working together to build a new foundation for America and it will happen one community at a time. Watch this special message from the First Lady to learn how you can do your part:
….
My response
Yes.. United if we serve.. we may be able to serve tens, hundreds, thousands and millions at a time.. to be ale to help America is not the issue.. to raise the spirits is the concern.. to be able to count and matter in the mos difficlt times is the message..
the message and words do not hold good only for America.. they are extremely relevant to the world as a whole.. the mankind in its complete entirety (does thisword exist, could someone check and inform..)..
What do we achieve collectively can not be achieved individually.. if each school promotes education honestly to each of its student.. if each man living could save energy and water.. if everyone amongst us could look beyond our bedroom windows for a while to help.. if all of us could extend the helping hand to the every other hand that stretches it to us for seeking the same.. if we cold neglect our diferences and embrace our commonality (humnaity).. if we could all save someone from starving a day.. if we could pick up courage to be honest and not indulge in hoarding of any kinds (money, food, clothesm shelter included).. do we not see that the problems of our dear mother earth and its inhabitants could be reduced to half if not disappear altogether..
Tis time to think Tis time to act and Tis time to resolve..
My sincere thanks to his excellency President Barack Obama’s office to share these words with me.. if we all could support him the way I ave just briefly touched upon in the passage above in no passage of time shall we achieve a lot for mankind… for ourselves.. for thios earth.. God bless president Barack Obama and may he also strengthen him from within and beyond to be able to achieve what he promises not only for America but also for the world as a unit..
Love to you and love to all human beings in equal measures..

Really it is very regretable that the king of Pop has passed away. We are very much shocked.
Such a lovely recollection of you meeting MJ. He was a great artist, otherwise he would not have attracted so many people. A true artist, did not suffer pain before leaving this world. But it was not the right time for him to go. Just goes to show no one knows what will happen tomorrow.
We saw his brother on Big Brother, and he seemed such a lovely person. MJ will be missed as a remarkable artist. May his soul rest in peace in heaven as he gave joy and pleasure to millions. Pranams to you, your family and all EF.

Since many of my comments have gone amiss, i somehow feel like an alien on this blog. I am not an NRI, I do not fancy intellectual movie talk and yes i do write from my heart about things that i feel i must.
Anyway, i will still submit my old comment that i have been trying to post for the last 4-5 days, hope to get a reaction on this, for this would really bring the issue out for a debate. For you its a small comment, for us its a start of a revolution!! I mean it!! have been a member of this blog for the last one year and i know the power of this blog. Please support the cause……

RAPE !!!
I hope you have been reading the papers lately. Every other day especially, the last few weeks, I have been, as a citizen of India being informed about the many rape incidents around the country… rural types……….urban types…… gang rape types. And a million other ways of exploiting women.
Tell me dear fellow bloggers what do you feel after reading such stuff????
OH! Another rape!
Or does it even worry you that it can happen to someone in your family?
Well for me it is the most inhuman thing that I have ever heard.
A father raping daughters, brothers’ raping sisters and god knows what else we have to witness in these times of hyper communication.
To start with I do not want my family especially the women in my family to even read such dastardly acts.
I am worried for I feel it can hit my family too.
I ask you?
Is the media in its method of projecting women as sex objects responsible or is the frivolous world of entertainment responsible for these sporadic acts or are we really so sexually vulnerable as a generation…
I am worried and I expect participation from the ef… especially the BIGGGEST B

Respected Sir,
I am for the first time entered your blog and really felt as if really you are really there somewhere near.
Your work is really not comparable and you respactable too.
MJ was the King of the POP and his departure from the earth is really a great loss to the music lovers.I really do not follow MJ but yes i start tapping my feet as soon i hear his song. Its not the person who is wrong as some people really think he was but the situations are like that ,that we really dont have explanations to prove us rite.
But HATs of to the king of the pop and HATS off to yOU too KING of THE INDIAN CINEMA.You rule our hearts and our mind.

Rishabh
Dear Sir,
A thought. Each day regardless of your whereabout in the world, this is where we find you…in the computer!!! Each day I open the blog I check to see where you are and am delighted to know you are “here amongst us” i.e in UK. Why do I dread the day when you’ll tell us you are going home? It creates anxiety you know, not fair! Thought I’ll let you know so that you know!!!
Love,
Daksha
hi….wht an experience….i’m sure MJ wld b very glad 2 meeting u in person….love n respect…god bless u always
Dear Amitab Ji,
You have written about King Of Pop very thoughtfully. You have done a great research on him. For millions of fans his demise is unbearable. Even I like to here his songs very much. In fact he defined about Pop music and new way of dancing. EVen many films included his style of dancing.
Thanks for writing such a nice article about this great Legend.

Dear Amitji,
I hope you are still enjoying the lovely warm weather in London. Have you had a chance to go to Wimbledon this time?
There has been a shortage of Bollywood films being released recently. When is your next scheduled release?
How do I book a personal meeting with you when I visit India between 13th August and 1st September, surely you must have 5 minutes to spare from your busy schedule. If I stand outside your house on a Sunday with hundreds of other people then you will not know I am there unless I push my way to the front and shout!!
It would be good to hear from you again.
My warm wishes,
Love, Naresh
Dear sir,
still No new Day post..
A Day of mourn in honor of ‘The M J ‘ ..A synonym Of Pop Dance ..a God gifted Dancer and Singer, a household name in the every corner of music world and his works will never die and shall thrill every body …
his untimely Death is unfortunate and as like premature Death Of Great Brus lee .
with regards
dinesh
I am glad that in writing about MJ, you’ve focused on the positive aspects of his personality and career. I think he deserves that, because we should not be judging him, without having lived his life. You very well know the pressures of stardom and the stability one needs from family and friends to keep oneself grounded.
Anyway, Jacksonville, Florida..we live just an hour and a half South of Jacksonville…so when you are there next, feel free to drop by!
One of the channels here where I work is called Fuse TV. It is a music channel that is paying tribute to Michael Jackson all day long. If you want to share thoughts about him you can go to http://www.fuse.tv
(Even though I was not a fan of his music I thought I’d help out you people on the EF.)
Amithji,
I still listen to his Thriller cassette that I purchased in 1985. I I have no count of the times I played that cassette. The Icon of pop will remain for ever in our hearts.
God bless the departed soul
Ram

Shree Amitji,
Its sorrow of having loss of a grand musician-dancer.
Really music has no boundaries. And no language too.Just we have ears to hear it,mind to realize it,and body to react it.
A big loss to music-consolations.

Dearest Amitji,
This is exactly why the BLOG is so amazing, who knows when or if you would have ever touched upon Michael Jackson in an autobiography!
Thank you so much for sharing that story. It’s ironic because the anticipation you mentioned, the anxiety that you had before seeing him is all the same emotions we felt for each and every concert that YOU were there
It’s amazing how you’ve felt the same types of emotions that we have, for another artist - just loved the story and description and you’re right, Michael Jackson did definitely revolutionize pop…
Best Wishes,
Hitesh
EVERY BODY SHOCKED.THE PEOPLE WHO NEVER SEE MJ …..THEY ALL ARE SHOCKED…….BECAUSE THEY KNOW HIM FROM OTHER PEOPLE…..MJ WAS A GREAT HUMAN BEING…….AND HE REBIRTH AGAIN IN THIS WORLD….
SIR,
I READ YOUR DESCRIPTION ABOUT HIM…..I THINK U ARE ALSO VERY CLOSE TO HIM WITHOUT ANY WORK RELATION……
HUMAN BEING LIFE IS JUST LIKE A SUN SHINE.WHO NEVER KNOW WHEN IT PRESENT AND WHEN GONE……….
I REALLY SHOCKED FROM SOUL…….AND PRAY TO GOD GIVE HIM PLACE IN HEAVEN…..
Well written Mr. Bachchan.
With utmost sadness I write to express my condolences to the family of Michael Jackson , a wonderful human being
we had the good fortune of knowing between October 1984 until Mar 1988.
A great human being who always spoke well of other celebrities whenever we spoke on phone during the years he kept in touch.
It was Oct 1984 when he called us at The Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto in response to a fan letter I wrote on behalf of our daughter
Andrea aged 3 and a letter that I was able to get through his father whom I met outside the hotel walking on the street. Thereafter he invited us to his Victory Tour concert as VIP guests. And started a friendship that would have him call many times. In Nov 87 he dedicated a single The Way You Make Me Feel to our daughter Andrea 7 and then invited us to a Bad concert reception in New York in March 1988. Thereafter I received a large size photo of me with him in April.
Unfortunately we never heard from him once he fired his manager at the time Frank Dileo.
However fond memories will always remain with us. We never used our friendship for any personal gains although we had offers for our story which we always refused. Until to this day I never gave up trying to get in touch with him. But his new managers were of no help and my mail probably never reached him. I was still hoping to hear from him even just a day prior to his passing away.
The last card Thinking of You I sent to an address in L.A belonging to Michael that was provided by a friendly source has not returned to me undelivered. Perhaps the people around him may have
not been delivering my mail to him. I would just like to express my condolences to his family members and especially his dad who gave this great opportunity by passing on my fan letter to his son. To us and to the world he will always be remembered as the King of Pop. We will miss him.
Michael autographed the cover of the Thriller album to Andrea , autographed the cover of the Bad album and also wrote a whole page in his handwriting to our son as well autographed many other
photos to each one of us. And I took many photos of him with my family members when he had invited us to his hotel suite in Four Seasons. We have shared those memories with friends , relatives and coworkers.
You have been working tirelessly for decades now. What keeps you going?

People are not remembered by their wealth or by their status but by their WORK ..and MJ have done a remarkable work during his whole lifespan in my opinion thousand year later when the scholars of that time would make a list of geniuses of this time i think MJ would be one of them ….his ANTI-GRAVITY LEAN (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Smooth_criminal_patent.png)
is an outcome of his extra-ordinary creativity which is a unique concept…and there are various other uncountable outcomes of his creativity…..MJ you are really invincible…may your soul rest in peace and if the concept of reincarnation is true than reincarnate again to show us more of you

Dear Sir,
M a BIG fan of yours, and in this time of deep suffering and personal pain i thot of writing something to you, probably knowing that you wouldn’t be able to do anything for me. I’ll not remain tomorrow to see your reply so I want you to remove it from this public place. Right now, as i write to you i feel terrible having been deceived by someone most cherished, most loved by me. In fact my entire reason of being is for him, but he despite of making tall claims of loving me has been cheating on me since past 1 year. I caught him on a few occassions and he apologized profusely each time assuring me that it would not happen again. But it got repeated again and again and again. I’m deeply in love with him and would forgive him every time, once again trusting him blindly, and he used my trust…even then i was willing to forget all this as he seems genuinely sorry this time, but something happened today.
Today, I found out something that I can’t share even with you (you being distant and as good as a stranger). You’re exactly of my father’s age, and I have great respect for you. I couldn’t have talked to him this way, but now i feel better. May God bless you and your family. God has never listened to me else this would not have happened to me, but m sure blessing you would be a problem for Him.
Lastly I request you to not make it an issue of debate or something. Its too personal and I dont know why I wanted to share this with you, but its only you…Moderators are requested to please not publish it.
I still love my husband very much and dont wnat him to suffer any further sorrow or disgrace after I’m gone.
Love you.
amitji,
michael will be missed greatly.
i am a big fan of u as well i write on my rediffiland blog many times about you and ur favourite quotes you are sharing here, and many things about you…i love the way you love blogging..u r an inspiration…i know u will never get time to visit and comment but i wish if you can visit my blog on http://www.rediffiland.com Manojkumar Nair Can i share ur paragraph where you mentioned ur meeting with MJ on my blog as well…Love,Manoj
Hello Mr. Bachan, I dont think you will read my comment as I am going to be almost last. You wrote a beautiful piece about MJ. My son was mad about his music when he was young. I feel for those young children of MJ. May God give strength to all his family and loved ones to bear this loss. Love always
Your Fan from Toronto
Good Afternoon Amit Uncle,
My name is Dolores and I am a HUGE fan of your son, Abhishek. Because of your son and seeing his video for “Right Here Right Now” on our local public broadcast station each Saturday morning, I became an instant fan of his and Hindi Cinema!!!
I am not Hindustani; in fact, I am a Black woman in her a mid-30’s from Pennsylvania and you are an inspiration to not only everyone who hails from your great and regal country, but also to those of us who have discovered your film industry abroad.
Amit Uncle, I absolutely love you and your family and reading this blog entry made me love you zillions of times more. You are twice the man some men aspire and hope to be. Thank you for your kind words about the passing of Michael Jackson. It was a pleasure reading of your two experiences with him! How many of us have desired to have had such opportunities as God has afforded you.
Stay in good health and know you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers for continued success, wellness and favor from the Lord!
Blessings Always,
Dolores

Are you traveling back to “Home Sweet Home’?
If yes, then have a safe journey…Bon voyage. If not, then enjoy more family time in London!
Divya Rana
Hmm… Did the skies turn cloudy grey and the heavens open up in London a few hours ago because ‘you’ are on jet airways to Mumbai …. I wonder?? : )
…If so, you took the sunshine with you, so please could you return and light up our days again! Hehehe…
Its been another sad day all in all with more news and gruesome details of MJ’s demise everywhere.
You know the British media are farcical! Having spent the past 20 years of MJ’s waking life systematically tormenting him and destroying his reputation; they now begin a spate of desperate remembrances and discussions on causes of his death…. and …huffff whatever else they can possibly dredge up. No thoughts to respecting a person’s memory and letting the rest in peace!!…. Parasites the lot of them - determined to squeeze the next big scoop of out anything…. but then you were always aware of that, na?
Hope you had a wonderful day …
No doubt I will return with the arrival your next post ..or before ….
Goodnight…
With love ..
Jasmine xx
Namaste Amitji,
You look great in jeans and white shirt.

hello
Dearest ABji; aadaab and blessings all the Milky Way (Though it seems “Milky” no more)…
Though my observation stands valid; as YOU always reply to a few of your “chosen &few” EF; but still, after reading your EXEMPLARY “write-up”
on MJ…my favourite Micheal Jackson…”King of Pop”; I just could not
refrain myself, from praising you!
If at all, it crosses your mind, that I had written a considerably big note
after reading your eloquent and enlightening ENTRY, after you and JAYAji,
revisited Cambridge and your late great father’s only living Ustaad (then)…
I had even mentioned about myself following in your marhoom father’s
footsteps, in doing my Hons. and Masters in English Literature, and me being
a journalist and broadcaster, etc… But alas, all in vain! as you did not even
bother to put in a word or two; for this poor member of your very own “EF”.
May be my note did not “strike a chord” somewhere latent in you!
Anyway, apart from this grave SHIKWA I do not have any grudge against you.
Your highly “touching” creative writing and citing your own personal meeting
with MJ, rather compelled me to write again.
ABji, I remained the RJ and DJ for Western Music for continuous fifteen years;
thus playing and replaying listeners’ favourite numbers comprising of MJ’S
ever-lilting and ever-soothing THRILLERS. In fact since childhood I had been
idolising the late great “King of Rock’n Roll”…ELVIS PRESLEY and then the
“King of Pop”…Micheal Jackson.
ABji, I really loved and cherished your writing about the PARENTS and their
gigantic and magnanimous sacrifices; specially what you’ve written about our
MOTHERS. It would honestly and truely go a long way for our “Builders of Tomorrow”. Believe you me; YOU ought to have been writing BOOKS. It would
be a tremendous favour upon all of us. Since you EXCEL in creative English
writing beyond imagination.
No matter how and where busy or tired I am; I could NEVER rest in peace, without reading and or taking notes from your DAILY DIARY, as I would love to
name it. Oh, its just a beautiful “Reservoir and Repertoire” of “Education through Delight”, as very aptly expressed by none other than Sydney Spenser.
How I wish that you get to read my comments/remarks today?
Sincerely,
FARZANA KHAN.
Toronto, Canada.
Amit ji,
A FEW OF THE EF ARE ASKING YOU TO CHANGE THE PHOTO ON THE BLOG, I THINK YOU SHOULD STICK WITH IT A BIT LONGER, THE HAT, THE JACKET YOU ARE WEARING IS “THE MICHAEL JACKSON LOOK”. ONCE AGAIN WANTED TO MENTION THAT YOUR TRIBUTE TO MJ WAS EXCELLENT, I BELIEVE HIM TO HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME CATEGORY AS YOUR GOOD SELF. THERE ARE SINGERS & ACTORS THE WORLD OVER, BUT ONLY ONE “AMITABH BACHCHAN” AND ONLY ONE “MICHAEL JACKSON”
BY THE WAY WHERE ARE YOU THIS EVENING? MISSING YOU VERY MUCH!
LOTS OF LOVE (as always)
YOUR NO.1 FAN FROM UK
RIP. MJ was a true Legend. and genious

Comment 6 (DAY 2)
Hmmmmm……..
Yes… Years and years of togetherness and belief in another to crumble with just one incident ?? would be harsh would it not.
Today morning I was thinking that yesterday my comment was too hash.
Belief will not crumble…. no cetailnly not but one has share his/her own thought enormously.
Nation is now started thinking about people who make difference in thier life.
Take yesterday’s incident YASH SHAH was killed in Mumbai for some lakhs, need intervention from personalities who can make a difference. If all parents in Mumbai decide that they will give single penny to abducters things will come under control and these underworld people will go under ground.
Please influence media and spread this messege because change need sacrifices. Someone need to come forward to stop all this.
We are not under depressed or loosing our energy but annoyed and want to teach lesson to people who take due advantage of their position.
राम और कृष्ण ??? forget about them let us talk about only रावन और कंस …..
One thing is very clear that you are only thinking about RAVAN & KANS , it means only two kind of people are there in your mind. Right now no Ram and Krishna in picture at all.
The philosophical analogy is expressed by other poets too e.g. my brother in law expressed his feelings on the occation of 25th wedding anniversary of his co-brother….point to note that his co-brother’s name in Chandra Shekhar and Mr.Chadra Shekahr’s wife name is Mrs.Sarita both locted in Indore and are working in government sector in very good positions….Poem is as under;
SARITA KE NIRMAL NEER PAR , SADAIVE CHENDRA KA DARSHAN HO!
AUR CHANDRA KE HRADAY SE HI,IS PAWAN SARITA KA UDGAM HO!!
ABHINANDAN HO ABHINANDAN HO!
CHANDRA KI SHEETAL KIRANOAN SE,PUNYA SARITA KA AACHMAN HI!
AUR SARITA KI VISHAL HRADAYATA KA,CHANDRA DWARA AWALOAKAN HO!!
ABHINANDA HO , ABHINANDAN HO!
AAP SWASTHA RAHEIN SAMRADDHA RAHEIN,KABHI NA KOI GRAHAN HI!
BAS YAHI KAMANA HAI,AISA HI SUKHI VA SAFAL AAPAKA JEEVAN HO!!
ABHINANDAN HO , ABHINANDAN HO!
JAL THAL VA NABH PAR,BAS AAPAKA HI AAJ VANDAN HO!
ABHINANDAN HO , ABHINANDAN HO!
SHAT SHAT ABHINANDNA HO!!
I recited this poem beacuse there are some people who work in different fields like my brother in-law is superinteding engineer in ONGC and having mechanical engineering back ground and my father in-law was founder editor of one of the biggest news paper in Bhopal , having some extra endowment.
Hope you can make it out what exactly I want to tell you…….

Indeed it is shocking and very sad that the legend is no more. Only now I appreciate and understand how your childhood experiences can mould you. He didnt really have a normal childhood - it was full of abuse from father, and the pressure of performing that didnt really give him a chance to grow psychologically.
He may be no more but his legend will live on forever!

He truly was the “king of pop” and bidding adieu is just so impossible…
Let’s try to love ppl more when they are alive…I wish i had created that poem on him when he was alive…
I “remember the time”,
When a “rockin’ robin” from Indiana
“With a child’s heart”, “shoo-be-doo-be-doo-da-day” my way
With that “Smile”, a “2000 watts” smile
That was the beginning of “A brand new day”.
For more on the same…read…http://ektakhetan.blogspot.com
PS: Mr. Bachchan is it “asking for too much” if i ask you to read and give ur feedback?
I hope you do read:)
Hello sir ..how r u doing …
MJ was awesome performer ..no doubt
To MOHNISH NAIR—-I agreed with Ur point …media is projecting woman as a sex object only …It will affect people and their behaviour in future …..It will only increase crime against woman..i think
Gd nit ..Amit ji ….luv u always ….tc
Dear Sir
Could not believe MJ died! One must contemplate about life and death!

I have a question that I am dying to ask u.

Dear Sir,
Thanks for remembering those old days of POEMS.
May god bless you and energise to explore the meanings
of poems to the whole world.
Thanks and really love with blessings.

You can write! You have been blessed by Almighty in many ways. You write so poignantly, and this entry - a tribute to MJ - based on your encounters & interactions is written so very well and thoughtfully. It is obvious that when you write you forget everything else, including your stature etc.
I can say with confidence, that if you would not have been a film star. You would have written many a best-sellers, which would have been world renowned!
From the bottom of my heart, wish you all the best!
we will miss him dearly
Hi,
Amit ji, i was just going through your blogs, and i just thought of penning down my thoughts, like said you were talking about abhisheik’s old birthday party recording of 7-8 year aged Abhhishek, dressed like Michael and dancing to ‘Thriller’. It justed reminded me about my only brother whom i lost 8yrs back, he had organised a surprised birthday party for me when i was small, he got the videos of the thriller and had made all my friend enjoy the show…he was a legend ….all his songs were great can be heard anytime….
My brother was a great fan of MJ and Yours he used to always say the dialouge from your movie agnipath … and had a earing…like mj.. oh how much i miss my dear brother Abey………
Irony of life:- Absence is the best presence….becoz, if people r absent then …u miss them, thats means they r present in ur heart….always and everywhere……
Love always

Michael Jackson was the GREATEST ARTIST and one of the most wonderful human beings to ever walk the planet. He used his life to make this world a better place and inspired us to do the same. though the media hounded him with lies and rumours, he continued to be kind, generous, compassionate. he went through so much pain and it breaks my heart to see and read the outpouring of grief on international internet sites regarding what has happened. The world has lost one of its true healer and its a loss to humanity. May you be blessed wherever you are dear Michael.

Honorable Mr. Amitabh Bachchan,
After Mr. Micheal Jackson’s passing, it really hurt me more than I realized it would. I never got a chance to tell him (not even in writing -whether he would recieve it or not) “THANK YOU” for his amazing work & the joy he brought to our lives through his AMAZING work!
I want to take time out from my life and say this to you though,
“THANK YOU” for ur amazing work & the joy you bring to our lives through ur AMAZING work!
Don’t worry… you have MANY MANY MANY (and more) years to go with us!
Lots of Love,
Sharma Family from Atlanta, GA
P.S. My mother got your autograph back in 1993 (or sometime around that) when you came to Nashville, TN. =) Thank you for your autograph!
Im sorry to say I opened your blog quite late in the day.still seething over a certain review about Michael Jackson on the day he died in economic times.why is it that some people find it easy to criticise where they probably could not even hope to acheive a grain of good work.why is it that the bharatiya parampara of seeing things in a good light is giving way to aggresive competition of putting other people down.If the west is where we are headed, perhaps we should think about the fact that few cultures have been as rich and have given us as much as the indian.
either way there ll never be another person who’s given so much to music and to the world. god bless.
Dearest Biggest big B Sir,
A great honor from a Legend to a Legend.

Michael Jackson was a dancing God…and Gods do not die. He will survive in the hearts of his fans forever! He has always been an inspiration to me as a person and artist. May he Rest in Peace and now entertain the God’s above. Although we cannot repay him for the positive impact he has created, let us strive to be as passionate, excellent, generous, and caring as this great man….for it will lead us to a better, more peaceful world.

Hope you rest in peace in a world that you always fancied the earth would be…. You are alive in our hearts forever…
