DAY 413

Prateeksha, Mumbai                      June 9, 2009                      Wed  1:11 AM, on the 10th morning

From the early alarm on my mobile, from the chirping of the summer birds in the garden below, from the building traffic as the day progresses, from the sun as it peers intermittently through the building monsoon clouds… it has been an endless rush of life.

To the airport to pick up friend. To the Hospital to get him admitted. To await the results of preliminary investigations. To visit another friend there in surgery. To see off friend at airport for checks at an International facility. To rush straight to prosthetic make up. To report on set for more emotional scenes. To pushing production into completing as much as we can so tomorrow can be easier. To domestic decisions on travel, to office decisions on oncoming AGM, to health issues and a quick visit to the clinic of family doctor, to getting prescribed medication. All this and more …

The constant cry within of how and when to address the EF ..

It has finally taken shape and hopefully two days of absence shall be made up in a day, but that is not proper. My commitment of a daily connect must be adhered to at all costs. Yes it is late. Yes it annoys some of those that care. Yes EF understands.

But what do I understand, that is of ultimate importance. And I understand that what has been taken up must be completed.

I have another apology coming your way. I have, due paucity of time, been unable to attend to the comments. A cursory glance has given me to believe that there are some very interesting observations being ma

  8. Rajesh from Los Angles says:

    Dearest Amitji:

    What a schedule? Hats off to you. I can never accomplish even 10% of what you have mentioned. It is tiring even to read what you have gone through on Wednesday. These past few weeks have been so hectic for you. I now understand the actors mind set in between shots and what is going in a set. Thanks a lot for enlighten us. As a fan, next time around I will be careful and approach with open mind if I can happen to encounter any sets. But the will the Media be ? I’am sure NOT? They will fabricate to get more attention as always. And if your last name is Bachchan, the media always terms you as bad.. I’am sure PAA is shaping up so well. What an effort from you in this. Waiting to catch it on First day.
    Please take care and good luck at IIFA.
    With Greetings and prayers,
    Rajesh

  10. pradip shah says:

    Dear AB,
    What brings the change? How human being so condition to judge, to compare & to form opinions can radically change? How to bring understanding & compassions? Rewards, force, coercion doesn’t & can’t work so what else can? Can love, compassion bring that change? I.e if U are that then could U give/pass to others-obviously not. One has to see oneself and perhaps seeing is doing. Your plea for understanding and compassion is need of an hour-but who listens?

    (Repeat from previous with adding single missing word…)

  11. Raj Iyengar says:

    Good morning Mr.B. I am seriously amazed that you can keep up a schedule like this…getting up at 06:00 and being in bed by 10:00 usually does it for me:)

    Some quotes (some relevant, some not!)
    “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans” - John Lenon

    “You who seek an end of love, love will yield to business: be busy, and you will be safe” - Ovid

    Have a lovely week! Cheers.

    “One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn’t pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself.” - Anon.

    By the way, when we used to see Kaun Banega carorepati, everytime we used to pass ‘Pratiksha’ my son used to scream - Nou baj gaye kya?? You guards used to look for who is screaming :)

    Hi Sir,

    Posted before too on day 412, but then saw another post from your side come out. No need to apologize, it is understandable. Your effort in making up for the lost time in connecting with EF by posting more frequently at this late hour, despite having a long day, is more than enough for us.

    In case you respond to comments under this day, I shall re-paste my question that I have been trying to ask you about for a long time now. Hopefully this time receiving a response. You eventually made it to the Indian film fraternity, despite your turn backs due to intimidating guards or ‘big’ producers turning you back. Based on your experience(s), what advice and steps to take, would you recommend to those (who have no connections to anyone already in the industry) wishing to enter the Indian film fraternity as an actor?

    Regards and love,

    S

  31. Roshni says:

    Not sure, if you have ever read any of my comments earler or you even recognize my name, but please do me a favour…Please pass on the message to Abhishek that I just love him and fight with anyone who says anything about him..i want to meet him once, just once!

    Please paa, do this for me!

    Thx!!

    Love you hamesha!

    Ha ha ha…
    well I guess when u r in a hurry…u r very funny
    post is hilarious.

    well i was absent from your blog for a few days..reason being I gave birth to my first child, my darling son. He is my angel and i am completely convinced and now started believing that having a child of your own is the best gift GOD can give you. Its the best thing that could happen to a person. I named him Agastya Singh. I know that is your grandson’s name, but no I did not copy. I was in love with this name since long and just happen to know a few months back in your blog when u told that its your grandson’s name. But it definitely is a cute name.

    Great to be back to ur blog and great to be associated with u again after so many days.

    If you happen to visit America and if by any chance you happen to come to Omaha, Nebraska, do let me know. It would be a pleasure and an honour if somehow I could show my son to you.

    Dear Mr.Bachchan,
    please you do not need to keep apologizing to us. It is totally understandable! And though i love hearing from you daily and cannot get enough i do not want you to feel guilty at anytime for not writing regularly. The moblogs are a great idea just so that we do not get worried. Keeping such a busy schedule and so much of prosthetics is so tiring i am sure so please take care and hope your family doctor visit was just a routine one!
    Just a notion about the fans on the set, i cannot understand why producers do that because i must tell you as a fan i would be greatly disappointed if my hero did not enjoy my being there and i would get the wrong impression at least for a while . Hope producers can understand and stop that for the sake of both actors and fans !
    Wish you always well , best regards and a pleasent time in Macau.

    Dear Sir,
    I have to begin by expressing my absolute happiness at this opportunity. I love technology because i would have never dreamt of commenting on AMITABH BACHAN`s blog. I mean the superstar the one and only the awesome the spectacular the . . .oh my god i think i would go on for ever and my praises for you would never end. In short the opportunity of interacting with you is wonderful and your time spent on interacting with your fans is truly appreciated by me and undoubtedly millions of other fans. it`s very exciting reading your posts. I am as usual really looking forward to IIFA though i must admit that reading current news on the absentees of many many stars from the event is very disappointing. One would think that occasions such as award functions would be the ideal platform to celebrate Hindi cinema for many reasons. it just seems that the unity among film stars is something we fans imagine and is probably non existent. It`s very sad! Anyways, i am interested in your comments on this subject. (Thats if it doesn’t create problems for you) before signing off ALL THE BEST for the IIFA. For me all you bachans are special and I’m certainly looking forward to seeing you all. I have been privileged to attend 2 IIFA award functions in the past so IIFA is special to me.

  71. Shrikant says:

    we were having this discussion - me and a friend - about how you - you indeed - have been writing this blog and that it is not someone taking down your notes and publishing them.. since the time we realised that the the presentation of one’s inner sequence of thoughts can’t be taken donw or told verbatim to someone else who’d then put them down in first person..

    I am re-visiting this after ages.. since it started in it’s first few days - ‘cos yes the Indian IT industry is taking a beating and so are jobs of the likes of ours who are being treated as though we exist only as numbers and statistics.. yet it is ironical that it come down to this given progress is the word to describe it

    how the mind suspects that the good things don’t come so easily esp. in today’s times..
    - how it suspects that it can’t be the artist, an actor, the celebrated human being himself typing away this poetry of the self at “odd times” of the Indian time zone.. and that it has to be someone else doing this for ‘publicity’

    but such thoughts get banished with time, with the brain, the mind, the self gaining trust - something that is getting so limited in today’s times - gaining confidence ~ yes, it is this same individual we celebrate, who is living a similar life like we the readers of his thoughts do.. we who celebrate his presence amongst us, we who follow him whereever he goes, just so as to live a part of his life for our 15 sec. of internal gratification…
    we who consider him and venerate him like we would our own dear PapPa, our own elders.. who have been living their lives for their families.. not for their self…
    hence, as I return to this page - though now with technology, I really don’t have to visit here to read, unless I have to post a comment - I come to mention that with the publishing of those photographs.. the mind actually connects better.. that this art of self expression is indeed coming from the horse’s mouth for there is no better way a horse can reveal itself but through it’s trotting feet..

    and one more comment i came to make, that for me personally, there is a human connection with the last few days of posts…
    a human to human vs. a human to celebrity connection which was the case till few days before..

    maybe now i will get to read the blog entries more as a human being expressing his self than a celebrity which is what you were so long for me.. though this is the side i was wishing to read about.. to attempt and maybe understand how a celebrity really lives a public life with so limited private moments… how really easy it is for an ordinary man to get carried away with the celebrity status and what it really takes to be there and yet be human!!!

    it’s like being a horse tethered to a pole with an infinitely long rope..
    I wish to read more and I wish you long contented life and the best of health.. for I seek the same for my parents every moment of my life

    I made a comment on the previous day which belonged here by mistake. So I will again say that I wish your friends in the hospital the best of luck with their health issues and I hope that your health is fine. It gets me nervous when you mention a visit to any doctor.
    Thank you so much for posting when you have this crazy schedule going on. And you shouldn’t apologize for not reading all the comments. How can anyone expect you to go through those hundreds of comment seven on your normal schedule? But I do notice that this post is left unfinished but you don’t have to apologize for that either.
    Once again I have no clue in answering this poll question and I don’t understand if that ‘boogie’ is some kind of joke. But I would think it is.
    I hope tomorrow is indeed easier.

    So so SO incredibly worried about your schedule…. the emotional demands of this kind of filming are already too intense without soooo many many other obligations in each day… and all on so painfully little sleep… and then straight to the frenetic activity of IIFA… this is utter insanity.

    Just sending you so much love and sympathy… and the most fervent possible urging to take it just a little easier after IIFA please please PLEASE. I am distraught to imagine all you are going through.

  86. Prashant says:

    Hello Mr. Big B, this is my first time writing to you. I just want to say that this BLOG is the greatest thing that’s happened on Internet. It’s really a great way to connect with you and see how you really are as a person. I don’t know if you remember most probably not but when you came to dallas for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Concert I accidentally met you at the airport when you arrived. I was there to pick up my mom and all of the sudden I see you coming out of the airport and I was just shocked and excited. You looked so cool, you had a black jacket on and dark sunglasses. At the time I did not have a camera or a pen otherwise I would have asked for you autograph/pic. But that has to be my greatest moment in my life. I grew up watching your movies and also when I was about 6-7 yrs old in India me and my brother snuck out of our house to watch Lawaris. I have taught my 3 year old son to say your name; and now everytime he sees you on TV he pronounces it ‘Anita Bachcan’.

    Also another short story of when I bumped into you. It was around Jan of 1997 we were there in Bombay for my brothers wedding. We went to Juhu and after visiting Juhu we took a rickshaw and were headed back to Vila Parle, and on our route we saw a huge crowd and we asked and the guy said this Amitabh’s house; we started freaking out and told him to immediately STOP. As we stopped and talked to some people they said that your daughter Shweta is getting married and we saw you and Abhishek standing outside your gateway welcoming your guests. Abhi was not in movies then but we knew him and at that time he had the full grown beard and was dancing outside. That was another awesome moment.

    I have been visiting you blog all this time but never posted but I said to myslef man I’m the biggest fan of his and I have this opportunity to connect with him why am I not writing to him so I decided to write today. I didn’t mean to write such a big comment but it just got out of hands as I started to write. Will comment regularly now. Bye…you are the greatest ever and looking forward to all your future movies.

    Dear Amitabh Bachchan Ji,
    I have been a big fan of you since my childhood. In 1991, i went to see a movie of yours called “Akela” in theatre with my friends during night show. It was quite crowdy in bus. One of gentleman said, today A. Bachchan movie is released thats why its crowdy in bus.everyone is going to see the movie. And outside the theatre, it was chaos. It was my first encounter with such a big crowd. Everyone was moving here & there to get the tickets. We got the tickets after paying 5 times the price. After show was over, then we walked back to our home at 2am on Delhi roads.
    Today, I happen to read your blog and it was truely imaging to know that how much effort you are putting in your work even at this age. It really inspires us that we should work & be active till our last breath. No matters how much you stumbles in life’s situation(may be its love, relationships, career) but we should move on. ‘isi ka naam zindgi hai’.
    I pray to God to keep you healthy & active. My best wishes are with you.

  102. Bhumi Patel says:

    I praise my President to speak at a moment when the need for togetherness is needed the most for this world before the human race destroys it with its hatred and greed. However, many Muslim people do not understand that we Americans do not fear the people of Islam but the misinterpretation of our anguish concerning human rights, equality, and western ideologies. Americans have welcomed every race kind and have tried to understand various culture beliefs, however, it is wrong when western ideologies are not comprehended in the many mideastern countries where Islam is the main religion. Many people are held to belief that America likes to destroy the world when many of my country’s soldiers are standing up in Iraq, Afghanistan, and south Korea to protect peoples’ rights. Why shed each soldier’s blood if we were out to destroy the world. Americans have always been there to help out others when natural disasters have stricken including giving donations such as food, tents, medicines, etc… including volunteering. I do not reacall any country standing up for us when Hurrican Katrina destroyed most of the New Orleans when bodies were flowing in the water, when water did not recede for days, when people forcelssly slept in cots with thousands others and shared their grief and loss. I know that many innocent people die each day due to the few who are out there with their extremis beliefs and the ones who volunteer to suicide bombs in name of Jihad to kill their owns with them. These innocent people need to come together and join our hands to eradicate extremists and this is all we ask for. India and Pakistan needs to join hands for a greater cause than blaming each other for the wrong deeds or for that reason the region of Kashmir. Poeples’ minds haven been filled with this hatred for each other that they refuse to see the good in people of other religion and this hatred of Hindus vs Muslims has to be demolished. MR. BACCHANS, stars like you should stand up to join hands with Pakistanis and to spread the love of humanity instead of differences of culture and religion. Together, India and Pakistan could achieve so many of the exepctations Obama has pointed out to achieve. BOLLYWOOD STARS NEED TO PROMOTE LOT OF CAUSES AND EDUCATE INDIANS ABOUT CREATING GREENER EARTH, PREVENTING DISEASES AND PROMOTING GHANDHISM such as peace between different people of religion and culture. The world needs to cometogether for greater deeds such as creating greener earth, more jobs, abolishing or preventing deadly diseases such as AIDS, Malaria, and finding cures for cancer and diabetes. How would one feel in India if many of the jobs were moving out of India to oversea countries such as South Africa, Bangladesh, or Sri Lanka, and not just Indians but people of any country would express great deal of abhorrence towards them. However, when many of Americans are loosing jobs each day, loosing their healthcare, lifetime savings, and more than anything their homes, No country has cometogether to help us out yet there are many out there who find fault in this great country who acknowlodges equality, humanity, and freedom of speech.

    MR. Bachan, I hope your people will publish mine comment today because I know you can affect many’s reflection towards many of the issues mention by Obama. I hope you and other stars realise the importance of this issue including greener earth especailly when India’s impact could be so much on this very particular issue that you will take a step forward towards other especially with your wife being a politician in educating Indians on this and many other issue including woman’s rights. So, do not reply me but do assure me that you will try your best to impact this world by taking actions. (please Publish this)

    Yes, we can’t bear a day without connecting with you and love to hear from you everyday, but we wouldn’t love it to be at the expense of yourself and your health. Your rest, especially with this hectic schedule that you keep these days, will also be a source of delight to all of us here.

    Thank you for this compassionate and sweet post.
    It is been a tough and loaded day for you, but still you made your efforts to connect to us and write these two nice posts. That is so nice of you…your care and concern.
    And don’t ever apologize for any delay or for not having the time to read comments.

    Have a peaceful night and
    the sweetest of dreams…
    with hopes for a better and easier tomorrow.

    You needn’t worry about absences so much. You are human too. and rather busy one at that. I think no one could possibly doubt your simply unique commitment to the blog. You should stress yourself out about having to make an appearance here at all costs. You have enough on your plate as it is. Somehow I don’t think you are going to follow this advice! All the best..

  119. Lakshmi Jag says:

    Dear Mr. Bachchan

    Read, digested both days 412 and 413…what you say about comments of the media ignored when the artists proves his might in his profession is very true. As a lay person who sometimes comes across these media lies..the memory of these comments are fleeting..gone in a second but the memory of a role played well is ever etched in our memory. Ask us about your roles in Abhimaan, Anand, Black and other movies and we can tell you volumes but ask us what Shobha De wrote about you last week, we draw a blank. It would be good for your blood pressure if you remember this.
    Sharing how an artist prepares for a shot really helps us to understand what every artist goes through and how much preparation goes into every scene (that is if the director and the artist pay enough attention) I know few directors who come on the sets and write their dialogues…no names.
    Once again excellent posts and enjoyed reading them. I hope you get enough rest on the flight and this time remember to pull the seat all the way out. :)

    Sleep has finally overtaken you while writing it seems. Sleep peacefully and rest your tired body.

    Please don’t be so rigid and hard on yourself. We know you made a commitment to keep in daily touch with your EF but if its out of your control and impossible to connect to us, we will understand and wait for you no matter what, so don’t feel bad or guilty ever, please. And certainly no case for any apologises. In fact, it is us your EF who is eternally grateful to you always for all your love and dedication you give and cannot ask for more.

    People form opinions, but the important thing is to restrain from being judgemental…..

    Dear Sir,
    I hope everybody in the EF understands the troubles and the pains you take writing to us in spite of your hectic schedule… But of course it would be a privilege to get attention from you… So reminding you again …PLS C !!!

    I am a student of IIT Kanpur which is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year this time. A ‘Kavi Sammelan’ is organized in our Annual Cultural Festival ‘Antaragni’ wherein we have been graced by the presence of many eminent poets of our country in the last few years. Last year, we were honored by the presence of Mr. Surendra Sharma, Mr. Arun Jaimini and Mrs. Sarita Sharma.Many great poets like Mr. Ashok Chakradhar and Mr. Pradeep Choubey have also obliged us by their presence.
    I am one of the Coordinators of the event and this time I intend to invite you on behalf of all the students to honor us by reading the’ Madhushala’ of Late Shri Harivansh Rai Bacchan Ji in your own voice.
    Sir it will be the moment of our life and a moment of pride for our institute to feel his presence amongst us on the occasion of our Golden Jubilee.
    Sir, I invite you not as Mr. Amitabh Bachchan but as the son of Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan -the great poet- whose poems were a part of our Hindi curriculum in schools.
    Over 2000 students from about 200 prominent colleges of our country are invited for the festival and I guarantee you sir that you will be overwhelmed to see the love and respect this young generation has for Hindi and Lt. Mr. Bachchan.
    Sir I am also a poet (beside being an Engineering student) and I am a great admirer of Shri Bachchan Ji ( and of course you Sir). Your voice is the most enticing part of your personality and I believe hearing Madhushala being recited by you will make the words come alive.
    Sir, I know you might be very busy but I really do hope hearing from you. We have our festival during the last weekend of October ( 22nd to 25th this time ) .
    Sir please do write to me.
    May God help you complete all your commitments in time.

    Regards and a lot of love and respect,

    Flying like a busy bee from here to there. From the airport to the hospital….diving back to prosthetic make up and do the emotional scene….get into that mode for an emotional scene…gosh…your the best. You must have to block off million things on your mind to do a emotional scene. You do it so brilliantly. Cant wait to see PAA. Cant wait to see this emotional scene. Will remember when I see this movie how you worked late nights, how you had to leave an emotional scene and to be done next day, how you had to put up with prosthetic make up for 5 hours no drinks allowed at the time.
    Yes your EF understands. Please not to apologise. I would embrace lots and lots of love coming our way from you.

    Loads and loads of love sending your way.

You have to be healthy to function- to act in all those movies- to entertain us- to keep this blog going….. Please take care. We love you dearly, and so worried. I know, you must be getting ready to go to Macau for the IIFA- and will be busy there. What did you notice amongst us that you have mentioned on the blog- please do write and let us know. Dear Amit ji

    2nd attempt!! I wrote a few paragraphs this morning and damn it due to network problems it disappeared in some corner of the cyberspace. Sooo frustrating but maybe it was a blessing in disguise as I now have more time to write another one.

    Your current schedule definitely sounds like a roller coaster ride. It’s very scary. Amidst all this you still managed to deliver double dose of your blog last night. How do you manage to do that??? Even though your blog is a lethal addiction for us, if we had to make a choice between you and your blog, I’m sure we will definitely go for the latter.

    Yesterday I was reading a newsletter called “Well@work” and was thinking about you. It was actually on the topic of shiftworkers working unconventional hours. Yours is no different right now. It talks about our circadian rhythm which is our body’s 24-hour clock that regulated many of its important functions, such as blood pressure, hormone levels, digestion, temperature and above all sleep. Working unconventional hours interferes with this regular ebb and flow of our body, and can be very damaging to our body. So Amit ji please slow down and catch up with your sleep. Actually I’m waiting for the moment you hop onto that flight to Macau, that will for sure give you the opportunity or should I say force you to catch up with your well deserved rest.

    Thank you for your valued time for us. Good luck always and hope both your friends have a speedy recovery.

    Love

    Divya

    Sir as a part of your EF I would seriously want you to stop apologizing for anything sir…its an honour for us to be a part of whatever number of days you wish to communicate with us.
    It amazing to read these posts by you and we are all humbled by your apologies. But we want you to know that any day you don’t communicate with us we understand your commitments and social responsibilities and we will be equally happy to just feel that you didnt force yourself to write this and are ok with the comfort of your Immediate Family (IF). Just knowing that is enough for our love and wishes to be with you everyday.
    So my dear 67 yr old Amitabhji I mean “The Amitabh Bachchan-ji” we are always glad to hear from you whenever you want to communicate.

    My dearest Amithji,

    If you are reading this , obviously you are awake!
    Did you get enough sleep? I hope to god ,you did.

    WOW! At this age also what a grueling schedule you have.
    Sitting four hours for prosthetics in itself is soooo difficult & on top of it
    You have to perform such emotional scenes ! which must be emotionally draining!

    I always cry whenever I watch your emotional scenes.
    When I watched you sing ‘’oooh satheerey terebina bhi kya jeena’’ from
    ‘muquhadder ka sikender’ I literally sobbed. Even ‘Baghban’ made me weep buckets!!
    So I better be prepared for some weeping when I watch ‘PAA’.

    Just saw the news that Rajesh Khanna will be honoured with Life time achievement award at IIFA, & will be getting it from you! I hope atleast one of you will tell a dialogue from the movie ‘Anand’. It’ll be a real treat for us fans.

    I have never waited for the release of any movie the way I am waiting for the release of ‘PAA’. You have put in sooooo much of you in this movie , I pray to god it will be a BO hit!

    Now please tell us what is the mysterious ‘white thing’ in your previous blg?

    Also waiting very eagerly for the family photo. From the results I can see that your solo photo has won, but I hope you’ll put a family photo, at least for some time.

    Please take care,
    Love you with all my heart,
    Regards,
    Kalpana kakade

    PS……typed my thoughts while waiting for your new blog, so may be a little unrelated to the present blog.

    Dear BB

    What your blog has done is bring you out of the cult status of a God to the lives of us ordinary humans, and make us see that you are made of the same flesh and bones and have the same blood in your veins as we do. But the most important thing it has done is to prove it to us that you are not just anybody. You are what you are because of a great mind. A sharp intellect, a great personality, we had known earlier, as of course a great actor. But your mind. That deserves the biggest salute. And it would not have been possible without your blog.

    You know, my dad and papa (my dad in law) are like you too. They keep going and going, they have so much energy, it is amazing and here I am, a 37 year old buddhi who gets exhausted after a day’s work!

    hello sir,
    i understand your frustration of people being judgemental based on some prejudices and stereotypes.its really annoying….but every profession has some merits and demerits.Actors and cricketrs in our country are either worshipped or abhored.There is no other way to it.While commenting on their favourite/hated stars people generally overpraise them or just bash them for no reason.We really(and urgently) require some rational thinking(specially from media).

    “From the early alarm on my mobile, from the chirping of the summer birds in the garden below, from the building traffic as the day progresses, from the sun as it peers intermittently through the building monsoon clouds… it has been an endless rush of life.” - such a beautiful paragraph ! - could make a good beginning of a story or a book…

    A very busy day indeed.. And you were thinking in the middle of all this about writing to us - your EF.
    Thank you for your care and putting an “ultimate importance” on keeping up with everyday blogs..
    So joyful and comforting and reassuring to read about it…
    The new apology is accepted, but “been unable to attend to the comments” sounded a bit too sad for me..
    I just wrote a big one for the previous Day…: )

    I have to go rest now though after reading three new blogs from you it feels like keeping on reading..

    STARS MISSING IIFA

    It seems that most of the big in bollywood is not attending IIFA this year. Is it a mere coincidence or the conspiracy against you. From the media it feels like all those whose are not attending are the rivals of the bachchan family.

    Thanks…

  222. rochelle says:

    I am here at the radio station WUSB after my show, in frustration because I cannot figure out how to hear your opening speech at IIFA. But you look so good while making the speech! When I get home that is first on the agenda.
    I’m off from work tomorrow but I have an appointment in the dentist’s chair and not for prosthetics. The way my mouth is, I would rather have the prosthetics done or even go to work.

    The best song title on my show was ‘Falling in Love is Like Setting Yourself on Fire and Hoping You Don’t get burned’ by the band ‘Indecision’.

    I hope you are feeling strong with a spring to your walk. I hope you have a blast in Macau and good luck for your family in the awards categories and the performances.

    Bachchan Sahab,

    Yes ! we love to hear from you daily.
    Yes ! your daily dose of this personal interaction is mind blowing and so inspiring !

    But I beg to differ from the foll line of yours ..
    “My commitment of a daily connect must be adhered to at all costs”

    Sir ji,
    we love to be connected to you,
    we love to know more and more about you,
    we love you love you and love you

    but at the same time, we always keep you in our prayers for good health!
    your schedule is always so hectic and we would never wish the conneciton between you and us to come AT ALL COSTS !

    atleast not at the cost of your health !
    not at the cost of your rest !

    Pls take rest !

    Even if u just drop a line that you havent got the time to punch in the keys and pour your thoughts for the day, I am sure none of the EF will complain !

    We do understand that you really really work hard and harder to get the things in right place and to do your job as seriously as you can,
    we have seen in past and now since we have seen you everyday on the blog, no one on this earth would have any doubts on your sincerity !

    So a personal advice, pls do take proper rest, we need you to be with us …
    we know that when u are free the thoughts from you are more amazing !
    so give some rest to yourself !
    dont strain too much !

    and you dont need to post an Apology !
    if the head of the family has to sorry .. that looks lil odd !

    Have some good time at IIFA Awards, Venetian Macao !

    An ordinary fan of yours
    with best wishes to you and all EF !

    Dear Sir,

    The interesting observations being made on your blog are about SHANOUK!!!
    YES, Sir, Shanouk, your pet, who’s nothing short of a celeb now!!! ;-)

    Just look at the discussions that went on about him yesterday:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Shanouk says:
    June 9, 2009 at 12:35 am
    Forgive my intervention. I know you don’t like my talking in public about our family matters. Because the EF (Extended Family) will be shocked to hear a canine speaking English, though I expect the smarter ones would have guessed it by now.
    Being a superstar’s pet is not an easy thing. But about that, you can read it in detail in my forthcoming autobiography, due for release by Penguin Books Timbuctoo. And this time you will pay for it! No freebies…
    But that is not the reason for my public outcry today on behalf of my fraternity. Its about the sneaky photograph that you have pasted on the blog.
    I did not say a word when you posted my photograph hugging you, despite the immense embarrassment I suffered with our neighbour’s bitch. She is still sulking over that if you might want to know. I haven’t been able to get so much as whimper out of her in the past one month…
    But today you hurt my inner most feelings by putting up our cat’s photo. Not done, Master. The cat has been sitting on the wall since morning… not so much as a mew from her.
    Unlike me she is not unhappy about the fact that you posted the snap. We differ in our tastes as you know. The only thing that beats our combined brains is, why did you show the face? That angle was all wrong, Master. Its her worst side you know. She looks like a supporting actress from this angle. No face, no tail, just the white of her back!
    On behalf of all the pets in the house, I beseech you to take it off forthwith. You know whom we can talk to in the US if you dont respect our feelings.
    Yours in length and width,
    Shanouk
    Footnote to all EF: Dearies, my Master is asleep. And how he Snores! My eyebrows rise in wonder, while I climb over the bed to find out how the music emanates. Please refrain from loud comments. Meanwhile, be assured that the moderation is in my safe paws till then…
    yours in barking,
    Shanouk
    Dear Shanouk - 328
    How LOVELY to hear from you - I had been wondering if I dare ask Mr Bachchan to give you a ‘Guest Blog’ but was worried that might make him feel he was no longer Top Dog in our affections!
    Good to know that MOST of his secrets are safe in your paws… as long as he keeps you supplied with a gourmet diet, romps on the beach, daily rickshaw rides.. and a lifetime supply of bouncing bones!
    Please tell your friend Miss Kitty that both my cats think she looked ADORABLE in the photos.
    Anyhow, give your Master a HUGE great slobbery kiss from me next time you see him.
    With love from Daisy and your other feline friends, xxx
    Dear Shanouk at #332,
    Hearty welcome from me to your Master’s blog. :) :) I, for one, never ever did underestimate that you mastered the English language to the T. You have the most dignified Mr. Bachchan for your master, so what better influence could one wish for to be extremely well-versed with English!
    I would like to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed your 1st post here on the blog and with all politeness, I’d like to put across the message that inspite of your post being a delight to read, I’d much rather hear from your master who keeps me waiting here at odd hours and in anxiety. ;) ;)
    Hoping you get a delicious bone for this wonderful post. Oh and yes, I guess the cat would rather have it that you do not speak on her behalf. She did happen to tell me you are the last one she would consider her friend!
    Have a barking good time-Lily D’Penha-Frankfurt-Germany.
    Dear Shanouk #332,
    How is it that you live in a house full of talented actors and we have yet to see you on the big screen? You obviously have dancing skills as we can see in the photos. The least we expect is for you to make a friendly appearance. And you don’t have to have PAWsthetics to do it.
    Dear Amitji, Good afternoon. Two breakfasts in midair and am in office writing this comment from confines of my desk at office. Sleep deprived man is like a bloated head with adema. Looking at your condition I must admit you are a great motivator to perform. 24×7 schedules loaded with travelling and life threatening prosthetics to be faced and defaced taking endless hours and a hiding face from all anti-publicity glare is life’s biggest game of hide and seek. Hide the face and seek the business or commercial success. Inbetween chasing away those who want to click the face and make a story of it. Life is really fast pace for you and a mirror for us.
    The desire to write needs confines of place peace and pen. Open wandering mind and happy thoughts to put on paper and nowadays on computer keys and screen. The writer has become a rythmic typist of stored thoughts. Flowing from apex of brain Gangotri and filling the ocean for the EF with many comments floating as EF sponsored ships and boats. Its a wonderful world and hopefully everyone here enjoys reading and writing.
    Have a nice day and R&R for your friends needing hospitalisation. Personal commitments and professional commitments do take mental toll on a person especially when one prevents other from happening. The busy man always sqeezes some time for all these and takes life forward on a winning note.
    ( it has been an endless rush of life… )
    True it is.. the scheduel you are talking about needs another 48 hours to be added to the day to accomplish these stuff you are talking about.. !
    To the airport picking up a friend… then To the Hospital getting him admitted… then awaitting the results of preliminary investigations… i hope that the results showed that he is well.. and his condition is stable or improving and there is no reason to get worried.. and what about the other friend there in surgery…? wish them a speed recovery.. !
    Then the rest is just hectic.. tiring.. and too much for one day.. :(
    ( My commitment of a daily connect must be adhered to at all costs. Yes it is late. Yes it annoys some of those that care. Yes EF understands. )
    What costs my darling…? your health.. your resting and sleeping hours..? sorry .. i don’t agree at all.. :(
    ( But what do I understand, that is of ultimate importance. And I understand that what has been taken up must be completed.. ) why the ” must ” my love.. we do appreciate your communication.. but we don’t want to add any burdens to you.. as we care about you the same degree we adore you.. :( and we worry about you .. the same degree we need you to be always with us.. :(
    You can read those comments any other time.. but please use the few hours travelling in getting rest as it seems that you’ll be having another busy scheduel in Macau… :(
    To the dears EFs who missed that.. Day 412 (i) comes after 411 (i) .. you will find out what was the mysterious photo… :)
    By the way.. Day 411 (i) comments # 648 & 663 are not mine.. !!!! they belong to another ( Reeham ) !!!!
  237. Sudhir says:
    For AB,
    Your description of the process of acting during the final stages of a film, though very brief, was indeed intriguing and raised some absurd thoughts too…
    Does an actor have a real soul? What a stupid question, eh?
    Perhaps you will see it differently if you read it again.
    Does an actor have a real soul?
    =====================
    I met a friend recently who is a self-proclaimed, die-hard fan of Amitabh Bachchan, the actor. He dresses as you do, talks like you too, and generally everything like Amitabh Bachchan - you know what I mean…
    I asked him, “Has AB done any role in any movie where you felt that it was your character?”
    He says, “No. AB doesn’t have to play my character. I am not a hero. AB doesn’t act like ‘me’… I act like ‘AB’..!”
    Hmm… but AB says he is the actor and AB is an honorable man!
    =====================
    Back in ’82, I met writer Shashi Bhushan in Mahabaleshwar once. He was trying to purchase a piece of land from the temple trust. He was one of the team that wrote Lawaaris with Kader Khan.
    I asked him, “Sir, how does a story writer choose characters for a story-plot?”
    He said, “Most of them are real life. Except the hero and the villain; they are a bit ‘hatake’.”
    “Hatake?”
    “They are not what a person is; they are what a person ‘would’ be… AB’s character is not completely real, but an imaginary best for the sake of poetic justice!”
    Hmm… but AB says he is the actor and AB is an honorable man!
    =====================
    A professional actor of main stream commercial cinema plays hundreds of idealistic characters doing “poetic justice in three hours” – and keeps doing that for 14 hours a day through out his lifetime!
    My question is:
    Does the soul of the actor wear a make-up when his heart is filled with the ideals of the character that he is playing?
    Does an actor have a real soul?
    How our inner Ego sometimes misjudges a PERSON
    Harvard and Stanford - True story
    A lady in a faded grey dress and her husband, dressed in a homespun suit walked in timidly without an appointment into the Harvard University President’s outer office. The secretary could tell in a moment that such backwoods, country hicks had no business at Harvard and probably didn’t even deserve to be in Harvard.
    “We want to see the President “the man said softly. “He’ll be busy all day “the secretary snapped. “We’ll wait” the lady replied.
    For hours the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away. They didn’t and the secretary grew frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president. “Maybe if you see them for a few minutes, they’ll leave” she said to him. The President, stern faced and with dignity, strutted toward the couple.
    The lady told him “We had a son who attended Harvard for one year. He loved Harvard. He was happy here. But about a year ago, he was accidentally killed. My husband and I would like to erect a memorial to him, somewhere on campus.”
    The president wasn’t touched….He was shocked. “Madam “he said, gruffly, ” we can’t put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If we did, this place would look like a cemetery.”
    “Oh, no,” the lady explained quickly, “We don’t want to erect a statue. We thought we would like to give a building to Harvard.”
    The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and homespun suit, and then exclaimed, “A building ! Do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs? We have over seven and a half million dollars in the physical buildings here at Harvard.”
    For a moment the lady was silent. The president was pleased. Maybe he could get rid of them now. The lady turned to her husband and said quietly, “Is that all it costs to start a university ? Why don’t we just start our own?”
    Her husband nodded.
    The president’s face wilted in confusion and bewilderment. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford got up and walked away, travelling to Palo Alto, California where they established the University that bears their name Stanford University, a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about.
    Most of the time we judge people by their outer appearance, which can be misleading. And in this impression, we tend to treat people badly by thinking they can do nothing for us. Thus we tend to lose our potential good friends, employees or customers.
  247. Sunil says:
    Hello,
    Yes alot of people say that your schedule and you work hard and don’t complain becase it is part of your life.
    I used to work hard, result more stress more work AND more shouted at for deadline and no pay rise.
    In fact my last job the company went bankrupt and I didn’t got my holiday pay (which in the end I never mentioned due to the status and the boss who lost everything including his house and had nothing left so I had to let it got).
    My current job I work 4 hours more every week (UNPAID and no extra perks or bonuses and I could get kick any day when they don’t need me anymore). It takes me 2 hours to reach to work and 2 hours back home every day. And I have no one whom I can go and complain FINE BY ME.
    Since I have chosen the job and I am not looking for any other job then I shouldn’t complain.
    But if one day I am offsick they chop full days pay including 1 hour extra which they admit was a mistake due to my working hours. But irony is they haven’t paid that 1 hour extra they owe me. Which is just great.
    And you sir, your job is the perfect job in the world. You have to work harder day by day due to cut throat competition also.
    You get the best perks, status, fame, news flash, millions of fans to die for etc and ofcourse it has some bad side, but if we scale both ends I think its fun and you admit yourself. We both complain and we both still carry on.
    anyways
    Have fun, relax as much as you can. You need it take it.
    Catch a plane from Macau after IIFA is over run away to some holiday destination like South America or Canaries without telling anyone except family members and lay down at the beach in sunshine with nice super cold drink next to you being massaged by some hot beatiful babes and forget the shooting, interviews, EF, awards, movies, reviews everything just for 5 days.
    You can do this, I can’t. ANd you will say that You can’t But I can.
    Title: “Sialkot”
    Tagline: War Kills Human Innocence
    Having shared bulk of work in their school team’s first inter-school championship triumph, Elhaan Khan and Ani Kumar, best friends and outstanding hockey players of Peshawar high school number two, now sit their sight on the ultimate glory of wearing the blue shirt for what could be a united India’s national hockey team at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Alas! Their dream turns sourer when the cruel British Empire gets India pieced into two and leaves. Anil’s parents migrate to Jalandhar. And after four years of partition, Anil gets commission in the Indian Army to feed his family in crunch. Elhaan steps into PMA to do Anil. As they go through ranks in the armed forces, the forgotten dream of reunification comes true when both find themselves fighting one-to-one after running short of men at scorching Sialkot front in 1965 Pak-India War.
    Amitab Ji can u forward this idea to any bollywood director? ur are the only source for me to get this ideas converted into movie since you have contacts in Bollywood and well- respected there. Wish u best of luck for your future endeavors
  267. Mohnish Nair says:
    Sire,
    EMPATHY is the need of the hour i believe.
    A performer needs his space and a fan needs the performers attention for all the adulation, excitement and admiration that he has built up in his mind through the years watching the actor perform, boils down to this one supercharged moment of seeing the idol in flesh.
    Who knows, maybe the fans personality, his behaviour, his way of dealing with situations and his philosophy of life itself would have been highly motivated and etched based on a fake character that the actor has portrayed. What a collosal waste of personal identity would that be for a fan to be emulating someone he is not, someone who does not exist.
    His character, the one inspired by this reel image of his favourite actor may have even spoilt his personal relationships, or could have been a triggering factor to many upheavals a man goes through for he is applying his decision s based on some fake psychological feeding derived from this cinematic character. Maybe the psychology of fans and idol worship requires a deeper study, i guess.
    Anyways, the production house must be strict about visitors for they break the hearts of both the actors and the fans.
    Lets have some discipline, people!!!
    Love
    Dear Good People,
    Most of the people have dream only for self prosperity but citizen like you also have dream for our country. You are helping and even you can do more for people of our country. You have a big influence on our people and have a great base of fans. You can change the face of our country and make a difference. Currently our country’s main problem is corruption. Corruption is paralyzing almost every aspect of our life, and mostly the development, law & order and poor are greatly impacted by this. Supreme Court has also taken an exception on this and even suggested to hang the corrupts from the lamppost at public places.
    Like ‘Quit India’ movement, there is need of an hour for a movement on Bhrastachar Mitao, India Bachao (Remove Corruption, Save India). Almost every government departments are indulged in bribery and grievances and benefits are not entitled to the beneficiaries until they pay the “Suvidha Shulka” (bribe). Also, fund released for any government programs is taken away by officials and broker and only little reaches to ground for development. This doesn’t make any development work so visible and impressive. People are involved in looting our country.
    I would appreciate, if you could help us on removing corruption from India. My request to you is to help us in this cause by sending messages to your followers and fans to work against corruption. Here is an example - vinay1340.wordpress.com on how to move forward. Also this website provides lot of information on how to work against corruption.
    Your help on this would be highly appreciated.
    Dear Mr B,
    Your blog seems to be incomplete today. Maybe lost in cyber space.
    Anyway I have been absent from your blog for quite some time, to be exact from Sunday. The weather in Kolkata is just killing, with the temperatures and humidity reaching record levels. The CESC also brings no respite, with power failures for more than 7 hours during the day. Office buildings with no power and water and the inverters not charged to capacity provided little relief and absolutely no work. Getting back to the reason of my being absent, I was down with a severe case of Viral fever and so was my daughter and wife. Could not get anything done at home or office.
    All this talk about my being absent raises a question in my mind. Mr B do you miss some of the regular people on your blog who have commented everyday and somehow have been unable to connect for a couple of days?
    Wishing you all th best for the IIFA weekend in Macau, hope you all have a gala time.
    Hello Uncle,
    We knew that you must be busy.
    You must be on your way now to China.
    I read the news on TOI yesterday that many actors and actresses will not be able to join IIFA this year due to one or another personal reasons. I am hoping to see you and Abhishek at least. We love to see our favorite stars enjoying such occasions because it is during this occasion we get to see the real stars as they are not acting there. Many do fake the smiles, but I find most stars expressing themselves freely regardless the camera presence. Also, hoping to see many pictures posted during the visit as well. Whenever you update us about such events, I feel like I am getting insider info. Before my family members see on news, I tell them yes I know, uncle mentioned it on his blog. :)
    Nowadays, my family members ask me, so where is your uncle? And I tell them, he must be busy with shooting or traveling etc. :)
    You take good care of your health.
    Look forward to new posts.
    Write you more later.
    Kind regards.
    Namaskaar, Amitji!
    Here’s my response to blog #412, yesterday’s. I HAVE to respond, and I’m hoping that you will find a moment to read it.
    In the West, even before the cameras have been set up, the lights fixed, and the set ‘locked up’, even prior to the ‘roll sound’ order and clapboard, NO-ONE is allowed to enter the set. There is total silence on the set.
    That is not the time for guests or fans or visits to anyone, producers and directors included.
    If that happens, then I have to call it a blatant disrespect for the artist; it is a demonstration of a lack of understanding of everything the artist has had to do to get himself (herself) ready for the role and the scene. It is a phenomenal waste of time, energy, brain power, emotion and money.
    It should NEVER happen!
    You, Amitji, have the power to request your directors and producers NOT to entertain guests during shooting, but only during long breaks when people are standing around chatting, and during ‘lunch’. They should NOT entertain between takes while the cameras and sound are being reset.
    People will respect you even more, and after all, it’s a very simple request to make.
    Luck and love,
    Leela
    HINDI FILMS- AWARDS ANGREZI ME!! :-)
    Dearest HEF (Head of Extended Family) I had the pleasure and honor to attend the 10th iifa awards curtain raiser held at Gurgaon where you too were present and spoke as iifa’s brand ambasador about the forthcoming event in Macau. I was soooooo lucky to be seated behind you at that function (before you were invited to take seat on the dias). I am amused and amazed by the fact that most people at hindi film award ceremonies speak in english instead of hindi. Agreed, iifa can be considered as an exception as it is held abroad & is also attended by people who dont follow hindi. But what stops our hindi film stars and other industry people from speaking in the language of the masses in India. May be it is considered HS to speak in english and LS to speak in hindi at such events. Sir, Like Respected Bade Bachchan Saheb, You too are a master wordsmith of hindi. I have, many times, witnessed hindi flow from your mouth like river ganga. Of course your command over english language is amazing as we all know. It is my request to you Amitji, please speak in hindi as much as possible at such ceremonies in India. If you will show the way, rest of industry will follow. Hindi is fast becoming a language thats only used for oral communication and not much used for writing in metros & large cities. This trend may spread and soon it may almost vanish like samskrit. Having said that I wish to convey that i am not against english or for that matter any other language. I just feel for our mother tongue- the state it is in today. You will agree that presently we dont have too many hindi authors/ poets of the caliber of those few decades back. Please accept my humble request and do your bit for hindi. I wish your friend a speedy recovery. He too works for 48 hrs in a day like you. Kuch aaram bhi kiya kare aap log. Take him on a vacation after his recovery. Hi to Abhi, if he is around. Lastly, i wud have loved to use hindi for this post but i can barely use computers. Technologically aadimanav hoo. :-) May be you can guide me. Guys Just imagine- AMITABH BACHCHAN as my computer teacher :-) lotsa luv to you
  303. Sanjay P Jethwa says:
    Dear Mr Bachchan
    Ashamedly, I have only recently started to read through your daily blogs and the many subsequent comments left by your well-wishers and fans - even though I claim to be a devout ‘Amitabh Bachchan fan.’
    My excuse….”‘am just too busy with work….” but when I read the events that transpire in your life on a daily basis, it provides me with the unique perspective as to what can be achieved if one puts their mind to it. Here is a man - a pillar of strength to not only his family but an institution to an entire industry - to this alone, I take my hat off to you Sir……
    The reasons behind leaving a comment today stem from my recent observations concerning your acting prowess and a style and flair that resembles a leading Hollywood actor - Morgan Freeman.
    OK - so you played one of his roles; albeit as an extended special appearance…God Tussi Great Ho (Bruce Almighty)….but come on….you have so many similarities in the way you carry yourself on the big screen - why can’t you do more roles like him?
    It would be great to see you in movies like…..Along Came a Spider, Seven, Kiss the Girls, The Contract, Thick as Thieves…..and I would love to see Pride and Glory given the Bollywood make-over with yourself and Abhishek playing the roles of Jon Voight & Ed Norton respectively.
    Mr Bachchan, this is in no way a criticism on my part with regards to your choice of films - what credentials do I possess in criticising an artist who has been a living legend within the Indian film industry for almost forty years??….I reiterate…this is but a mere observation from a reflective individual.
    Therefore, please give this some thought and accept my sincerest apologises if I have offended you in any way.
    As quoted by Morgan Freeman…“Life doesn’t offer you promises whatsoever so it’s very easy to become, ‘Whatever happened to…?’ It’s great to be wanted. I spent a few years not being wanted and this is better.”
    Kindest regards
    Sanjay P Jethwa
    Enfield (North London), England
    PS. I may have submitted this message twice so once again please accept my apologises…..
  304. PatB says:
    Salaam Amit Uncle,
    You are so devoted to us…despite having such a stressful and busy day (that’s an understatement), you still feel the day is not complete unless you connect with the EF. May Allah continue to bless you!
    I am sure the visit to the dr was just routine as you will be travelling soon, and you don’t want to wait until the last minute (literally) to get the “Good to Go”. I hope the prosthetics aren’t causing your skin too much grief.
    Amit Uncle, I’m sure many of the EF before have said no apologies are necessary, however, I think I know your true character because you seem to be a lot like me…hmm, or should I say my character is a lot like yours :) (being you are older :D). A promise is a promise and no matter what anyone says and how many “don’t worry about it” you get…you still feel the need to fulfill the promise..right? I know how you feel. But, Amit Uncle, you have fulfilled every promise you have given your word to fulfill. You have done so much for us, just my starting your blog and reciprocating the love and affection we, your EF, have shown. Do take care. I know, I’m harping. :) I hope you get to read my post today.
    Love always.
    Pat
  306. Jasmine , London says:
    Dearest Mr Bachchan,
    How are you?
    Rumor has it you left for Macau this morning (exciting!!).. .. .. I do hope that business class service met with your approval (!) and that you are now relaxed and settled at your hotel room ..
    At the risk of repeating myself, I am increasingly concerned about the condition of your skin as a result of that prosthetic makeup…. Sir, your face is your fortune (as they say!!) so we need to ensure there is no lasting damage there!! In post 412 (i) I alluded to extract of Comfrey oil as a wonderful remedy for damaged, irritated and broken skin – in case you missed that, I will repeat my ‘pitch’.
    So oil of “Comfrey” (the herbal name being Symphytum), is renowned for healing, soothing and repairing damaged, broken and irritated skin.
    In ancient folklore they dubbed this oil “Knitbone”, owing its ability to bind or repair damaged tissue.
    It is available as herbal supplement (in India too - I know because I ordered it online) but NOT recommended for internal use because it can cause liver damage. Topical application is best. I’m sure your make up artist will be able to get you some…. It is really worth investing in to hasten healing!
    I’m also MOST eager to know how that last unfinished sentence on your post would have concluded? What “was” your observation of our observations, hmm…there were certainly some ‘unusual’ occurrences during your absence (and I don’t mean the two different photographs of your feet in disguise)!!…Perhaps Rajesh at 229 surmises accurately?? : )
    Look forward, as ever to hearing from….
    My love and best wishes (wherever you are …)
    Jasmine xx
  307. PatB says:
    Salaam Amit Uncle,
    A rather strange comment #271…from “Amitabh Bachchan”…Now, it seems we have imposters….I don’t believe that this is your response because it would have been a yellow (or pink) strip under the post your are replying too….
    Love always,
    Pat
    There is also other poems like-Madhushala.
    My memory power is so weak and so I can`t remember some things or happenings.But pusp ki abhilasha is touching me.I am not a shoulder nor a police man.But it happens.
    Meeow Moi Master,
    Purrrrlease ignore Shanouk’s comments. I was not upset with the photograph at all. I was just sitting on the wall grooming my fur and whiskers (a kitty has to have some “meeee” time). I wish Shanouk had been less bone headed. You spoil him with the new bouncing bones. Since then, he has been trying to bounce everything that fits in those huge jaws. Purrrr…
    I have no complaints about the photographs. You might have confessed it was mine instead of pretending it is your paws under the sheets. That was the best you can do with a camera that is called ‘Panther’, I will not comment on your skills, I luv you so…
    Though, I suggest next time you want a photo of ‘mine’ you can ask the DOP to do a close up shot. Not for any other reason except that I like to see the purrrrfect curl of my whiskers sometimes. And you can practice on Shanouk till you get it right, he doesn’t mind… unless it is for posting on the blog…
    You do so much for him, he thinks you are God. I know he is misguided.. silly bag of bones!…
    You do the same for meee… and I know thats because I am God…
    Meeow for the moment
    Begum Billi,
    Paw note for the EF: Honeys, Its mine. Stop ogling me in my picture for the time being. I have better sides to show, which hope fully will come up next. Meeow for neoww…
    My beloved Mr. Bachchan,
    Hoping that you landed safe and sound in Macau and found the time to rest. I doubt it though with all the meet and greet formalities you have to go through after arrival. My bags are all packed too and I wish you goodbye to leave for London tomorrow early morning. Looking forward to our trip, although the weather it not so welcoming. To add to it, I have read about the underground tube strike that is ongoing in London, so well, can’t call it a warm welcome really. :( :( :( :( Well, never mind, we will have a blast nevertheless.
    Did you notice what’s been happening in your absence? Shanouk played Boss, now we have the “CAT” purring over the blog. It won’t be long before we have the neighbour’s MOUSE come complaining and telling Mr. Shanouk and Ms. Catty off. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) Both of them have written two very interesting and entertaining posts, (my sides still hurt from the bout of laughter), but before the “Master’s” Blog gets taken over by his “Oh so very intelligent” pets, I beg you to return. You know we accept all the baggage that comes along with you, but this is far too much. :) :) :) :) :)
    So no barking or purring from me, but a sincere plea to return and take over the throne that is rightfully yours and yours alone.
    I am not too sure if our hotel will have Wi-Fi, so wishing you a huge success at the IIFA in Macau and hopefully also some fun time. I know you enjoy your work, but your recent schedule has your body crying out for some rest. I can hear it loud and clear. So please unwind and relax too ok.
    Loads of love-Lily D’Penha-Frankfurt-Germany.
    Dear Sir, I am big fan of yours and a regular reader of your blog. Your blog is quite inspiring and motivating. I am in China these days and want to meet you and attend IIFA. Please can you help to advise if it is possible and how to go about it.
  349. RAVI P MALHOTRA says:
    Dear Amitji, Good Morning. Hope you had the customary sleep and would be writing a new post soon. I am writing in anticipation and wish you all the success at IIFA Macau. There is a remote chance I may enter the TV room and get a glimpse of what happens there. Otherwise anything written on the blog suffices for my limited appetite about happenings around the globe. One does become immune to suffering when one accepts it is all part of life. Happiness and sufferings both co-exist in this world as day and night chase each other. It is just someone’s setting Sun is someone else’s rising Sun. Life moves on chasing broken dreams and we cherish our happy moments of bliss. No one in this world has succeeded in collecting all the dream balloons and tying them in one bunch of happiness and holding in his hand. They all have to go where individually the wind takes them to.
    Love in life is also a dream of a man or woman. We fall in love even without seeing or knowing a person. Only when someone similar stands in front of us we quickly identify our dream of love and match the congruency of both and accept. So is said in your wife you may find your mother’s traits. So also if dreams are broken one finds his broken dreams fulfilled in what comes in life. So is adviced that one should love what one has and use it to the fullest. We need to be comfortable in every stage of our life and look for source of profound happiness around us. We can enjoy life better that way. You can sqeeze the infinite in to the present moment and enjoy its beauty. The moment is then moment of recognition for us. We find new self in every such moment of understanding and awareness. We flow in such moments and sometimes such moments flow in our heart and mind. They are always stored in our eyes and we see the world through them. The positiveness of a man in love with something or someone comes through such possesion of love. We see the world in a brighter light of our eye’s vision and it makes a happy world for us.
    We love the time we spend on this blog and also enjoy the moments of solitary thinking and sharing with you. Have a nice day and your infinite moments of glory wherever you go.
    My love to all those who make my day infinitely happy and blissful.
    The shadow of a big tree is very soothing in hot Sun. So both are needed for that feeling. Ask the traveller who walks in the sun barefooted what is the pleasure of a tree shade (Chayya) on the side of the road. The pleasure of walking is enhanced. Your each blog is like that tree on the side of the road where the traveller takes a breather from the hot sun. So wish many dottings on our road of life from you to give that shade of happiness.
    Regards
    Ravi P Malhotra
  351. Kapil, NY says:
    I managed to watch your “Sooryavamsham” for the first time recently. I was in college when the original Tamil version released in 1997. It was a blockbuster and i managed to see it 3 or 4 times in Theater and I never watched the Hindi version. I liked your portrayal of both the roles, especially the younger one “Heera Thakur”. Watching you in Angry Young Man roles in so many films, it was different to see you in a subjugated and simple role. No wonder the movie did not run well due to excessive melodrama and a heavily unknown southern cast, but i loved your performance.
  361. H.R. Sethuram says:
    Hello Amitabhji,
    I am one of your recent members of your EF and keep reading your blogs on a fairly regular basis. What I notice in many of your communications, are your problems with the media. In my opinion while it may be a good idea to take them on to set the records straight, in the long run it may not be worth it. Best thing would be to simply ignore them (not too easy). At some stage (I hope) they would give up their ‘Anti Amitabh’ reportings (wishful thinging !!!).
    I also feel that there is no reason for you to keep on justifying your actions in treating them (be it antogonising them in any way). They do not deserve better treatment. Being polite or diplomatic is fine. But it is not possible all the time and under all circumstances.
    I only wish the media understands this and give some room and consideration when reporting.
    My good wishes are with you.
    Regards,
    Sethuram
  362. Glenn Lopes says:
    Hi Amitji,
    just wanted to share with you an email which came to me yesterday. Hope you have a look at it and appreciate if you could send you valuable feedback on it.
    “Money has no memory. Experience has. You will never know what the total cost of your education was, but for a lifetime you will recall and relive the memories of schools and colleges. Few years from now, you will forget the amount you paid to settle the hospitalization bill, but will ever cherish having saved your mother’s life or the life you get to live with the just born. You won’t remember the cost of your honeymoon, but to the last breath remember the experiences of the bliss of togetherness. Money has no memory. Experience has.
    Good times and bad times, times of prosperity and times of poverty, times when the future looked so secure and times when you didn’t know from where the tomorrow will come… life has been in one way or the other a roller-coaster ride for everyone. Beyond all that abundance and beyond all that deprivation, what remains is the memory of experiences. Sometimes the wallet was full… sometimes even the pocket was empty. There was enough and you still had reasons to frown. There wasn’t enough and you still had reasons to smile. Today, you can look back with tears of gratitude for all the times you had laughed together, and also look back with a smile at all the times you cried alone. All in all, life filled you with experiences to create a history of your own self, and you alone can remember them all.
    The first time you balanced yourself on your cycle without support… The first time she said ‘yes’ and it was two years since you proposed… The first cry… the first steps… the first word… the first kiss… all of your child… The first gift you bought for your parents and the first gift your daughter gave you… The first award… the first public appreciation. .. the first stage performance. .. And the list is endless… Experiences, with timeless memory… No denying that anything that’s material cost money, but the fact remains the cost of the experience will be forgotten, but the experience never.
    So, what if it’s economic recession? Let it be, but let there not be a recession to the quality of your life. You can still take your parents, if not on a pilgrimage, at least to the local temple. You can still play with your children, if not on an international holiday, at least in the local park. It doesn’t cost money to lie down. Nice time to train the employees, create leadership availability and be ready for the wonderful times when they arrive. Hey! Aspects like your health, knowledge development and spiritual growth are not economy dependent.
    Time will pass… economy will revive… currency will soon be in current…. and in all this; I don’t want you to look back and realize you did nothing but stayed in gloom. Recession can make you lose out on money. Let it not make you lose out on experiences. .. If you are not happy with what you have, no matter how much more you have, you will still not be happy.
    Make a statement with the way you live your life: How I feel has nothing to do with how much I have.”
    In the midst of all that life has offered to you, grabbing most that came your way as a path fate has somewhat strolled you towards, do you think there are things you might have done differently as far as profession and life style are concerned? Do you think if given another chance you would like to live life as a simple man, unknown to the world? For the past 4 years of my life, ever since I’ve been writing, I’ve wondered how you would answer that question…
    Thanks Sir
    Hello Mr. Bachchan. This is the first time I have visited your blog and I am impressed by the contents of this blog. Your words as always reflect wisdom and broaden our outlook and change the way we look and think about this world. I appreciate your sense of humor.
    I would like to know what advice you have to give for those who want to enter bollywood industry and also I have read so many articles about you in magazines and watched so many shows of yours and most of us know alot about you but I would like to know how easy or difficult it was for you, during your early days in bollywood, to act when you never joined an acting school.
    Hi AB,
    I realise, i don’t know how to call you…! And, AB, to me is so unemotional - i know that i don’t like to call you that way - i don’t get any other option… :-(
    It is the first time ever in my life that i am writing to a film actor. It is not about the profession, it is just that i have never felt an emotional connection with anyone in the film industry that has forced me to write to them.
    But, YOU… what powerful use of language!
    i am not sure if i have seen all your movies, i am not sure if i will be able to critically appreciate the charactors that you played, i am also not sure if i admire all the charactors that you have played so far…
    Nonetheless, all that i know is that i just…LOVE you. For being so open. For all the warmth and love that you shower on your EF… i don’t know, i feel that i am already a part of your EF…!
    I thought i knew vert little about you… But after reading your post, i think i know you… i know you well enough to connect to you instantly, to come to this site everytime i feel like, and above all, to love you unconditionally…
    Thanks for being YOU.
    You don’t know me. I don’t know if we will ever meet… It is okay. There are no conditions… Just love you because you are such a beautiful human being!
    Dear Sir,
    One day everything will remain here. Why lust for more and more? There is no end to greed. One home, two homes, ten homes in a city. Land here and land there…and then one gets into a mess. Media leaves no stone unturned in highlighting such events. Now it is a matter of discussion in the assembly. I wish all, especially my idols would refrain from acts which are best not emulated….brings them in bad light.
    We love you so much.
    Dear Big B,
    After reading your blog, I have one wish that someday you must publish year wise blog contents and some comments you feel appropriate.
    The intensity of your acting must be ingrained from your intense nature in doing everything with a heart in it, while watching your movies as a kid, teenager and now a man always fascinated me. Back of the mind thinking you must be a very intense and hardworking guy. Reading your blog has given me an opportunity to connect to your (partially) thinking aloud. What is your motivating factor for doing so many things continuously & successfully? regards.
  383. Gabbar says:
    EF waalo, Gabbar Ka Hi sabko,
    Who WATCHED GHAJINI?
    Yesterday I watched Ghajini. The movie made super hit. so much hype also made 200 crores in1100 days I think.
    I didn’t went to watch since It was said as remake of Memento and I didn’t even watched Memento completely “I fall asleep every time I tried to watch it” it just was too slow movie for me to capture the entire movie.
    But then I thought what the hell lets watch Ghajini and the movie turned out to be good and changed my point of view.
    WHY did I liked it?
    The directors in India cinema are very smart. The steal stories/scenes from many movies paste it together in one movie and Bang make a full movie out of it.
    Ghajini is mixture of one of the old movies of Manoj Kumar/Asha Parekh & Mithun Chakraborty/Rati Agnihotri ( I don’t remember name of Manoj Kumar;s movie but Mithun’s movie is “Pasand Apni Apni”) where the plot is of the model is thought to be Girlfriend of rich man which turns out to be false rumours and finaly the rich man falls for the girl blah blah blah. This plot was success in both old movies and became a successful formula and the sweetest for Ghajini, which lead people to sit and watch the other half which was captured from Memento so the entire movie doesn’t become boring.
    FORMULA successful. But the credit goes to the entire team, the photgraphy, art, clothings, dance, music score, action fights, etc.
    So the moral of my post is — HEY you can be a director too you know.
    Go out there pick some of the old classic movies which makes you sit to watch over and over and pick some of the scenes, story base lines. pick another movie also and do the same — Combine the 2 plots in to 1 movie and BINGO you got yourself as a Director/story master and rest you need is luck.
    Here is some of the best movies made in a little changed version but the base story was same
    Sholay remade in new version Karma
    Deewar remade in new version Ram Lakhan
    Jungle mein Mangal in new improved version Shola aur Shabnam
    Do Phool in new version Aankhen (starrer Govinda)
    So do you wana become a director then take my advice steal 2 plots 1 should be cute and funny and the other heroic and action packed. combine them produce the movie brush it with some glittering cinematography, dressings location backgroun score etc and you get ticket entrance to bollywood.
  394. PRAVEEN PRABHAKAR tells about ancestors of Bigb says:
    Respected Amit ji,
    Do u know that u r
    PANDE KAYASTH
    do u think it amazing
    did u heard that yr family was called
    PANDE of AMODHA
    …if not then u need to read again
    MERE PURWAJ
    chapter of
    KYA BHULOON KYA YAD KAROON.
    Yr father n great writer
    BACHCHANJI
    has described the
    story of origin of
    PANDE KAYASTHAS
    in detail in that chapter.
    But he tells about only 600 yr old history of
    PANDE KAYASTHA.
    I do have the history of 2000 yrs…
    about the
    PRATHAM PURUSH of PANDE KAYASTHA,
    whose name was
    PANDE BHAV ROY.
    He was the first DIWAN of first Nagvanshi ruler PHANIMUKUT ROY of Sutiyambe-garh (near RANCHI, Jharkhand) days back two thousand yrs in 83 A.D.
    The descendants of PANDE BHAV ROY have been known as PANDE KAYASTHAS.
    71 generations of NAGVANSHIS ruled over JHARKHAND for 2000 yrs till independence and 68 descendants of PANDE BHAV ROY served them as diwans.
    The description and kursinama of Nagvanshi rulers and their Diwans have been composed in lyrical poems called NAGVANSHAWALI JHOOMER. The details of PANDE BHAV ROY is mentioned in lyrical poem number 32 tells that he was SRIVASTAVA KAYASTH and resident of village BELCOPI.
    While only one descendant of PANDE BHAV ROY in each generation could get the post of diwan, others were compelled to go outside the Jharkhand in search of better jobs.
    Probably one of the descendant of PANDE BHAV ROY was settled in AMODHA before somewhat 600 yrs ago and his descendants would have missed details of their ancestors n somebody had created a story, which is described by BACHCHANJI in KYA BHOOLOON KYA YAAD KAROON, but BACHCHANJI starts the story by saying ‘it is heard…’(sunte hain…). He has not given authentic description bcoz he did not have facts…but I do have.
    BACHCHANJI tells that a Brahmin gives his PANDEY title and janeu to a kayastha ruler JAGATPAL SINGH of Ayodhya bcoz he protects Brahmin and his daughter from the hands of an evilminded king.
    But the fact is that before use of word diwan, the minister of the king was called PANDE in Jharkhand. PANDE means a person who writes pandulipi about the day-to-day affairs of the king. His salary was termed as PANDIYA. The post had become surname of BHAV ROY.
    Wishing all of u
    good luck…
    PRAVEEN PRABHAKAR
  407. Rhea Srivastava says:
    Dear Amitabh Sir,
    I would like to run a funny incident by you about how I just missed seeing you in person a few days back.
    I didn’t even know that you were in my city on May 30th shooting for Pa. I had just come back to Delhi 2 days before from a holiday in Sikkim and so, hadn’t been very up-to-date with the news.
    On May 30th in the morning, I was in a meeting as part of the committee of an upcoming magazine for the Delhi University (where I currently study). At 12 o’clock, I got a call from my friend who lives in Dwarka and knows how I am an ardent fan of yours, that you and your son are in the Metro (by which i travel every day to college) shooting for Pa. I told my friends that I absolutely had to leave immediately even if just to get a glimpse of you. However, as I live quite far from the closest (pun intended) metro station at Central Secretariat, it took me 2 hours to get there. At 2:30, i was told that the crew had packed up and the cast had already finished shooting. Even though I was very disappointed at the time, I do hope to meet you some day in person when I am working in Mumbai.
    Till then I hope to keep reading your posts to connect with you. It is such a great thing to see how you are so personal with your fans. I greatly admire you for that.
    Yours sincerely,
    Rhea Srivastava
  414. RAVI P MALHOTRA says:
    Dear Amitji, Good evening. I enjoyed a half weekly off day after a long time and enjoyed my wife’s company for south Indian tiffin. We shared one SPDP, Idli-wada sambar,toasted bread butter and filter coffee. It was a nice treat and an evening well spent. After coming home enquired from children if they saw anything in news about your visit. The answere was no and me as usual walked in to the solitude of reading some of the comments.
    The comment abpout Stanford University was very very touching and also an eye opener. Parents who lost a son needed that much compassionate treatment and the lesson which they taught to the Harvard University would never have been taught in any MBA class. Simplicity is hallmark of character and conviction of a man. It is very much essential to not to judge a person merely by his clothes and simple appearance.
    A person who decides on simplistic life-style despite his riches understands value of life well lived. He has nothing to show off by way of deceptive couth appearance. Neither were the Stanfords uncouth but simple absorbed well in their grief and respected the high office they were visiting. The patience was perseverence of parents towards their lost child to faith’s untidy blow. It was also a prayer which somehow went unanswered against the prattle of money which others had lot of value for but not for the parents of the bereaved child. They had lost much more in life than what money could have ever provided.
    They had a job and a big responsibility on their mind of establishing the memory of their son forever in a special cause and way. They valued son’s memory beyond every thing else and sought a relief to put to good use the money their son would have inherited had he lived his life. It was not to be and also it was not to be the way they originally had planned.
    What came out was an absolutely deserving action of the parents and shows what is a noble thought when practiced touches millions of lives in a positive way. True philonthrophy and touching tribute to the lost soul. Now to be seen in every youngman that would pass out remembering their lost son. This is what is life is made of in true sense. Those who realise this realise life is lived beyond time and space with noble deeds.
    Regards
    Ravi P Malhotra
    These qualities are very difficult to be found in a single human being,But sometimes me as well as my circle of friends do get astonishment over your association with Mr.Amar Singh .It is a fact no body wish to see you in his company publicaly ,privatly you can have him.I hope You won’t dishearten us by posing publically with notorious personalities like that of Amar Singh.All the Best in Life,
  420. Mansi Jain says:
    Hello Sir,
    After reading your post, my belief got more stronger that, this is the only reason why there is only and only “ONE AMITABH BACHCHAN” in this world and there can be no more.
    What time-table, what busy life you have +family resposibilities and health constraints but still you manage them all and nothing could be greater than that.
    YOU ROCK BIG B.
    Thankyou Sir.
    Mansi
  421. Kishore UK says:
    Amitji,
    This schedule is too much, as a dear friend and collegue ‘Raman’ calls you ‘Super Superman’ totally agree with him, these tight running around schedules and only be adhered by one more, MR AMITABH BACHCHAN, I know much younger people would collapse at the mere thought of so much to do in a day and tight deadlines.
    We dont accept your apology, as it is not required, do only as much as you can, remember you are only HUMAN, like the rest of us, we will wait till you have more time, hopefully after the IIFA’s.
    All the best always
