Dearest EF,
And for those that still do not decipher the meaning of this it is - EXTENDED FAMILY !!
My deepest apologies for this delay and absence from the blog last night. After a very early prosthetics procedure and several location changes in the grueling heat of Delhi for the shooting of the day, just when I was wrapping up and hoping to relax and catch up with all my relatives and friends here, I am informed that there is an emergency on my dear friend who is family to me. He has been shifted to Hospital and I rush there. I returned very late and did not have the mental means to write and so I abstained.
Apart from the anguish that one goes through in a Hospital on seeing the suffering of near and dear ones, there is another aspect that as a celebrity we encounter. It is the complete disregard by onlookers and of course the media in understanding the sensitivity of the moment. Crowding and mobbing the aisles and rooms of the Hospital, cheering and asking for autographs and pictures while you try to deal with the professionals on the condition of the patient, makes it impossible for us to be left alone with the concern that we have come there for. I have no solution for this and any argument that I may initiate always ends up with us being made out in bad light. How do they expect us to behave in such situations ? Smile and take photographs, sign pieces of paper with our autograph and give camera bites ? How does one do that ? You tell me ? What do these people expect ? That we drop our reason for being there, drop our mental pain and attention that we come to give those that suffer and oblige ? What do they think that we are made of ? Do they think that we are devoid of any emotion, just because we are celebrated ? Can they not pause and think that this is a Hospital, it has its own sanctity and discipline. That we come to a Hospital because it is the location for the infirm, most of whom suffer physical pain, that they need repair and attention, that peace and quiet is the recommended mandatory order, that doctors and nurses here tend to delicate conditions, conditions that may go wrong and result in loss and bereavement. But no ! Nothing of the sort happens. Basic ethics and a semblance of civility is all that one asks, but it is never forthcoming.
Under these circumstances, we as celebrities, instead of directing our attention to the prevailing condition of our loved one, instead of keeping a clear head to be able to give, understand and execute relevant decisions, have to perforce leave the facility because the concern of causing chaos for the others who suffer becomes even more acute. Which is what Abhishek and I had to go through last night.
But leaving a facility is a process. Negotiate the crowds, negotiate the electronic paparazzi, look calm and controlled, not show any kind of resistance even in the impossible situation of wanting to make an entry into your car, blocked and scrambled by screaming, demanding, pushing mobbing media - clothes being pulled, getting hit on the head by microphones and the hardware that they carry, as did Abhishek last night. But dare we complain ? Had it been the other way around all hell would have broken lose. Demonstrations, stone throwing, news bulletins, on how media was maltreated by the Bachchans !!
For them the argument is we are doing our job. For us, you do not have the right to resist ! And this from a medium that prides itself in the dictum of fair play, justice and unbiased demeanor !!
Yes I shall be castigated for these observations. Yes I shall be ridiculed for repeatedly going on and on about the media. Yes the EF shall say ignore and move on. But move on to what ? Greater intolerance by them. Greater sublimation by us. And the means remaining as they were - unable to meet !!
Ponder and think.
I have had little time to go through all the comments that have been coming in and for this I beg forgiveness. But the essence of what most say has been understood and assuaged. I respect the feelings of all. Both for and against. I respect the effort made by many in addressing this issue of my declining the doctorate. I respect the other point of view as much as I respect my own decision, as well. But let me just say this. My decision has been the voice from within. It is not the result of a result. Had the results been otherwise, I would still have followed what I felt.
The Vice Chancelor from the University has also responded and since I had put out my letter to him on the blog, I feel it only fair to put out what he got back with -
There are in the comments, many who have drawn my attention to the coverage on a site by the name of IBN Live.com, where the writer has felt that Aamir and I indulge ourselves in this sort of activity for the sake of seeking attention and merely for effect.
Of course what they write is despicable. But may I respond to it by a counter.
Do you not, IBN Live.com, also indulge in your reportages of various happenings for the sake of seeking attention and ‘effect’. Do you not also bring out the news in order to ’seek’ the valued ‘eye balls’ ? Is not your coverage, for ‘effect’ as well ? Do you not dress your news items with slow motion and repeat cuts and onerous back ground music to make it more ‘effective’ ? And do you not, after the particular news ‘has lived its life’ ignore it and move on to something new ? And worse. Do you not exploit every topic of news that you bring on for debate and discussion, by asking for a poll from the audience by calling a particular mobile number ? And do you not do this because you have a financial deal with the mobile company ?
Look inside your self dear IBN Live.com, before you try and even attempt to look into the insides of others !!
With love and respect and a sense of belonging -
Amitabh Bachchan

Hello again,

I just read the post..
So sorry about what you and Abhishek had to go through yesterday because of the media.
Also, hope your family member who is unwell recovers soon.
And most definitely you need to voice out how you feel about this kind of treatment. I sincerely hope and pray things change for the better.

ALL YOUR POLLS ARE VERY BIASED TOWARDS ONE ANSWER
IT IS OBVIOUS THAT EVERYONE THAT READS THE BLOG WILL SUPPORT YOU IN THE LATEST POLL AND ANSWER YES
IT IS THE MEDIAS JOB TO INTRUDE
AND IT IS ENCOURAGED BY CELEBRITIES
MAJORITY OF THEM
NEXT TIME I HOPE THE POLLS ARE LESS BIASED
Hello Sir,
I really felt the anguish in your words which you might had to undergo last night. All this really makes one wonder what sacrifices one has to make while transforming into a celebrity. Media is for sure very insensitive - they might let a house burn before putting off the fire themselves just to get a wonderful live coverage. I hope they are a bit more considerate and understanding.
Sir I have been writing to you for the last few days trying to catch your attention. Sir please try to reply.
I am a student of IIT Kanpur which is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Year this time. A ‘Kavi Sammelan’ is organized in our Annual Cultural Festival ‘Antaragni’ wherein we have been graced by the presence of many eminent poets of our country in the last few years. Last year, we were honored by the presence of Mr. Surendra Sharma, Mr. Arun Jaimini and Mrs. Sarita Sharma. Many great poets like Mr. Ashok Chakradhar and Mr. Pradeep Choubey have also obliged us by their presence.
I am one of the Coordinators of the event and this time I intend to invite you on behalf of all the students to honor us by reading the’ Madhushala’ of Late Shri Harivansh Rai Bacchan Ji in your own voice.
Sir it will be the moment of our life and a moment of pride for our institute to feel his presence amongst us on the occasion of our Golden Jubilee.
Sir, I invite you not as Mr. Amitabh Bachchan but as the son of Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan -the great poet- whose poems were a part of our Hindi curriculum in schools.
Over 2000 students from about 200 prominent colleges of our country are invited for the festival and I guarantee you sir that you will be overwhelmed to see the love and respect this young generation has for Hindi and Lt. Mr. Bachchan.
Sir I am also a poet (beside being an Engineering student) and I am a great admirer of Shri Bachchan Ji ( and of course you Sir). Your voice is the most enticing part of your personality and I believe hearing Madhushala being recited by you will make the words come alive.
Sir, I know you might be very busy but I really do hope hearing from you. We have our festival during the last weekend of October ( 22nd to 25th this time ) .
I do hope that you write to me.
Regards and a lot of love and respect,

Hey Mr. Bachchan,
Although my stature is almost negligible when compared to celebrity like yourself, I would like to appreciate the fact that, you have recognized the over - exaggeration (attention grabber) of news channels such as “IBN Live.com”.
And very well said sir, “Look inside your self , before you try and even attempt to look into the insides of others !!”
Cheers!!
My beloved Mr. Bachchan,
I read with anguish your above post. I felt your pain and I am troubled to hear of all that you experience at such delicate, sensitive occasions.
:(
:( What does one say to that? Words fail me. I am angered.
Wishing your dear friend a speedy recovery. And hoping Abhishek was not injured too bad. A shame indeed about the brutality that is practised.
The reply from QUT was highly commendable. I do hope, someday soon, you do reconsider the award. As the gentleman rightly said….(many of us here on the blog did too). It will help heal many wounds.
Love you for who you are-YOU!!!-Lily D’Penha-Frankfurt-Germany.

Dear Sir, and HEAD of the EF!
YOUR letter to Queensland University was simply awesome….
…and now their reply is equally magnanimous!
I’ve said it before, and now say it again -
it was a wonderful decision by you not to accept the honour!
As always, you rose above self and looked at the issue from the point of EVERY INDIAN! And let me tell you, the citizens of India bow their head and salute you for your spirited decision!

Dear Amitji,
Post 405, at last. A lovely response to your letterfrom Australia. Sad reading about your hospital visit blighted by the silly press!
Good response to IBN! Why do some parts of the public feel that they are exempt from criticism and have the right to treat famous people the way they do! It is despicable behaviour. You have to tolerate so much nonsense just because of the job you do!
Love you lots. Keep doing the fantastic job that you do. We (your EF) are always there to support you.
God Bless
Love and best wishes

Dear Mr Bachchan,
Thank you for the post, we always miss you when absent! I’m very sorry to hear about your friend’s ill health and indeed the ordeal you faced during the hospital visit. Its very inconsiderate to say the least of fans (I don’t mention the media since we have established they are inhumane already!!!).
You are just the kind of celebrity I imagine who are too polite to able to be strict with them and simply say “leave me alone!”.
Why aren’t hospitals better equipped with security guards I wonder? Especially in Mumbai where there are so many Celebs!
Tough life for the fans too you must consider….. imagine being so close to your idol, the person they have dedicated their lives to…. and not at least attempting to fight the crowds and get closer! I’m sure most would find it hard to resist and sense and reason don’t figure at all.. but you understand that I know. Sounds as though you and Abhi were fully in control under the circumstances anyway.
Nice letter from Queensland University, especially the invitation to reconsider accepting which may well be an option for you depending on the present situation ends.
I will leave you now as I must be at the bank soon. I will return to comment of the rest in a while.
Enjoy your day …
Love Jasmine xx
Hello Sir
I was of 13 years when your KBC 1st was started and in one of the episodes of it you said as thought of the day “while you are pointing out somebody be carefull as rest of your tree fingers are pointing on you”……..this is what some people really need to understang…….
lots of love
Dear Sir,
May be my exposure to the world is very limited, but I am still unable to link “The Honor” with “The Attack”.

Respected Sir,
All the best for your shoot! I liked that you followed your conscience.

Dear Amitabji
Living in Melbourne for the last 10 years, came here with nothing and have established a good life here. Worked up the chain and now in senior management and have worked hard to achieve what I have in this country. I am only 30 now. If Australia was a racist country, I wouldn’t be where I am.
In the 10 years I have been here, nobody has been racist towards me. It is home to many Indians who have good lives and have had good opportunities.
We all need to understand that even though we are upset about the Indian bashings, the cause of such incidents is not because of racisims. In our (Indian) culture we are taught to respect and love our elders, but here Elderly (non-indians) get bashed regularly and I personally feel very upset about it. The law allows such untowardness.
Drugs is a major issue in this country and the laws don’t support the eradication of this evil from society. You as good citizen of this world, please use every opportunity to spread the message of love and respect.
This country lacks the flavour of tradition and culture. I believe this is an opportunity for respected and honorable people like yourself to help change that. I believe you should visit Melbourne and accept the award spread the message of love and respect for elders, weak and the others.
Although I cherish your thoughts and love for us Indians, greatness is in accepting the truth as it is and making this world a better place.
Your loving Indian son (from your extended family in Australia)
Amit
AHH, Glad to be in top 50’s. It is not possible when you are in a different country and with other priorities. Hello and will comment as soon as i have read the NEW awaiting post. Pranams
This is just what India is. We all suffer from the lack of thought for others. Only if we can be more empathetic to everything including not honking near hospitals..actually not honking at all unless its really needed and not throwing waste in public places..and much more…India has lost or never had civility for the most part…hopefully we are all bringing up our kids in a manner where such things will not happen in the future…
We just learnt running to other countries doesn’t help. They don’t like us either…ala Australia. Might as well sort our mess out and live happily in our country!
Now there is the post of DAY 405 which wasn’t there a couple of hours ago. And now the question on the poll makes even more sense.
I’m so sorry about the hospitalization of your dear friend and that you and Abhishek had to go through that media circus. Isn’t there a way that the media can be restricted from certain areas using security that would forbid them to be there? Can’t they be kept away from the immediate area around hospitals or from the entrances and exits for instance? And I think the media should be restricted from speaking to the mourners at funerals also.
Thank you for posting that letter from the university. I’m glad they say that thinks are being done to help with the situation and to prevent it from happening again. It’s good that they leave it open for you to accept the honor at a later date.
That accusation by IBN Live.com is totally ridiculous. What you wrote is true about the media exploiting everything for effect. I don’t watch them so I didn’t know about that poll they do for the mobile company. That is sinking pretty low. They have made that same accusation against you for effect I think.
You need not beg forgiveness for having lack of time. You have been busy working so hard to make your EF and the world happy to see you on the big screen. For this we can only thank you.
Love,
Rochelle

Dear Sir,
MANY MANY MANY THANKS for addressing every issue that comes to your notice! This can be done by ONLY THOSE whose own conscience is clear!
Time & again, you’ve questioned MEDIA’s ethics and they, like eunuchs, keep mum. For they don’t have guts to dispute your claims!
IBN Live.com, and many of their ilk, are on the same boat… Everybody is trying to SQUEEZE OUT THE LAST DROP OF BLOOD from any piece of news, and then they use it, misuse it and then again MISUSE it… DISGUSTING!
DOWN with MEDIA….
DOWN with likes of IBNLIVE.COM
GO, ROT IN HELL!

This action of the media is deplorable and inhuman. I think only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches; fate or destiny being what it is, I am sure it will afford this august community of media persons an opportunity to witness this hurt and soundbyte-greed firsthand.
Not so long ago we had this case of the media closing in when one amongst the fraternity was murdered- how did it feel to face conjecture, I want to turn around, shake them hard and ask them, how what why did you feel then?
I hope the person whom you had gone to check on is doing reasonably well. Since I don’t read or hear gossip news I have no idea whom this might be. Safe recovery, in any event.
I read and have been duly impressed with the VC’s understanding of the situation in Australia and the stand that you have taken.
I suppose IBN Live is jealous of the site counter stats on this site and the unstinting support you receive; perhaps in its schizoid avatar it has forgotten the thin line between entertainment and reality.
I don’t think anyone will fault you for what you have said in today’s post.
The media need to take a good look at themselves before they point fingers.
Thank you for posting the letter from Queensland University. Let’s hope that one day, under different circumstances, you are able to accept the honour.
Sir please have a look ……

A GREEDY FAN HURTED BY UR GUARDS AND STAFF
Dear Sir,
First of all welcome to delhi… Here i am sharing a very hard experience which i shared yesterday out side of ur House SOPAAN.

Hi Amitji,
The intrusion of media into personal moments of grief and then the replay throughout the day & night !!! does it really increase TRP ratings ???
We have seen the almost callous coverage of Gudiya, Arushi , 26/11, celebrities, coping with personal tragedies etc etc so many moments of personal tragedies being transformed into a media tamasha!!We understand your anguish and empathise with your need to be left alone at such times
My Dearest
Thank U for sending the post. i just wanted to checked and surprised with Ur new post.
Thank U once again for posting the letter of Prof. Peter Coaldrake. Last night I heard another Indian taxi driver got beaten and police behaved brutally with Indian protestors. so, nothing is ok with Indian people staying in Australia. How much it costs to love a person, to spread love all over the world????????????
The behaviour of media is not tollerable at all. The description U have given is horrible. When they will understand the seriousness of the situation??
Ok, come back later,
Love
Tumpa
As in regarding the media frenzy papparazi’s ,as we call, little does they know the pain and suffering gone by celebrities when they are in hospital for them publicity is bread and butter, the more they write gossip the more the item sells, more revenue, everything has a cost and when its - Mr.AMITABH BACHCHAN its money, the name sells, the name spells Fame, fortune and whatever you do Sir,its publicity. One thing what has peeved me is the raj thackerey issue, where was he when mumbai was attacked ?????????????????well i am aware this topic is touchy s0 shall talk, but raj tahckerey should talk less and not DIVIDE the COUNTRY.
Namaste Amitji,
I’m so sorry about the hospitalization of your dear friend and all the irritating activities of media.
Hope ur freind will get well soon.
Good Day Sir
I was not expecting a post until much later but I could not help checking one more time and there you go ….a fresh new post and lots to read and absorb.
You have been agitated again by the media and rightfully so….I don’t blame you. I am trying hard to think of how you and your immediate family can side step or avoid this difficult situations and as they say use the back alley routes.
This is getting totally out of hand. If you use security then you get blamed and if you don’t use it (at a moment like the one you had to go through) you still encounter awkward and difficult situation. I really feel for you especially in such sensitive circumstances.
This was a moment where you got the news of your friend and you didn’t think twice but drop everything to go and see him and there was no time to plan, organise and coordinate your journey to the hospital without anyone knowing.
Your retort to the media and to IBNLive.com is absolutely the right one and justified.
The letter from the chancellor has shown understanding of your concern and as I expected they have left it open to honour you at a later date when the circumstances are conducive for this honour and ofcourse when it is mutually convenient for both parties. Your stature and their decision to honour you has indeed brought a focus to address this grave problem. The Chancellor acknowledges the contribution both parties have already made to this effect. May the authorities work hard to indeed address the problem and restore peace, harmony, trust and care for so many foreign students and ethnic communities in Australia
Sir, what are you doing for rest of today?
Love and Regards
Rajesh
Amitji,
I seriously feel you should boycott IBN LIVE by not giving anymore interviews to them.
With regard to the way people behave while seeing celebrities even in places like hospital,i feel there are couple of reasons for it.
1) Illiteracy- Due to illiteracy and ignorance the way people worship celebrities at times is beyond limits.Certain myths over a period of time add halo to celebrities.E.g- Many people believe you take bath in mineral water. Some people feel by the time you get up from bed, your servants are ready with glass of orange juice. They feel you live like some king. You might find this absurd. But these are facts.
2) Lack of sensibility - Now this is classic case in our country. You are in hospital worried about your friend’s health or maybe your relative. But large sections of media and ordinary folks are not bothered. They want you to pose for photos, sign autographs and some people might even have the guts to ask you to recite some dialogues from Deewar or Khakee. They will ask you which is your next release.
Let me share with you my own personal experience. Some time back I had mentioned about my father’s recent death.Well when his body was taken for cremation,do you know what some people were discussing. What would happen to property. Why is the body taken to “x” place for cremation why not place “y”
As son i went all the way from mumbai to my hometown to look after my dad.His sudden death shook me.But some people were not bothered about my grief or sadness.how am i coping with the loss. They are more concerned with materialistic stuff. The only difference between you and me is I can explode with my feelings, vent out my anger, frustration, grief etc to certain limits, but you cannot as you are viewed with microscope.
3) Ownership- Media and large sections of people believe that they make stars. They own stars, stars do not have privacy.Your hardwork be damned, they feel since they pay for movie tickets they have complete control over stars.
I also feel sad for many actresses due to perverts. The moment they see an actress they try to misbehave with them. These are people who need to be behind bars.
Regards
Sreeram
Sorry that you had to go through with the media. That is the price you pay when you are a stardom. After facing all these palaver, did you sit in your car with a boxer glove and go bang, bang, bang, on the car seat or scream out loud?
It must be so hard to stay calm and not say anything in your challenging situations you face everyday. Cannot help you there. May be plan your trips ahead and have more security organized before you come out of your door. Anyway, it is easy for me to suggest, sitting comfortably in front of the screen. It must be so difficult.
Hope you recover from it, because I don’t think there will ever be a solution as to how to tackle the media.
Who is this friend, not well? Hope and pray he gets better. It just goes to show that HEALTH is the most important gift you have. Everything else, wealth, media, stardom, education is secondary. We do not realize until ourself or someone close to us suffer illness. Peace be with them.
Pranams to you ,your family and all the EF.

Dearest super superman
How is your friend now ?
It feels bad and hard to face to know that a loved one is suffering
And then , there is unethical elements of media to increase the pain.
You are absolutely correct when you say, had it been you or Abhishek treating badly with those reporters, it would have been an ‘ issue ‘ for them to be spiced up and cooked up all around and they would have continued it for days.
There has to be a solution to this at least for a place like an hospital. Can media not be banned at hospitals ? forgive my limited knowledge but whats the use to have them there ? when almost everybody who visits hospital, comes with a painful feeling to see a loved one, where the visitor does not want anything but to concentrate to know the progress of the health of the loved ones, What does media do there, i do not find any harm to ban them at least at hospitals.
It would be great if there would be more views on this..if it could be considered as poll question.
The reply from the vice chancellor is a great one, like i mentioned in my comment in previous post that your decision will make them think about the sensitivity of the situation more seriously, and here we have the response.
Take very good care
So, has the NANA met the grandchildren ?

hello sir
just wrote to tell u that we all fully support u in not accepting the doctorate from the ausis……..[:D]
Dear Amitabhji,
It seems our media sufers not just from the paucity of ideas but also morals.”Dissecting” is the only near sensible word that I can use for the potrayal of people, events and tragedies.Yes,these must be addressed when its beyond logic and comprehension.
No one can stand bullying,be it outsiders or insiders and your stand on whipping a word at them is justified in the same dignified way that you carry yourself!
Rest,care and good wishes…..
Priti.
The comment by ibnlive is ridiculous. I am also disappointed with Times Now. Though I must appreciate that they were the ones who brought this topic of Indian student treatment in open but to see an interview where they just spit questions and judgments event without letting the speaker they request to join on their channel. Yes we are hurt but what will we be if we follow the same spirit as them in saying each Australian is barbaric.
Sir,
Indeed a good deed from your part for not accepting the honour…..
Forget abt such media interpretations,i thought their headline would be amithabh sleeps in swim suit………(with reference your prev entry)
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
The blog 405 was published late than blog 405(i). But looking to the subject of poll i had presumed that something has happened, where media has behaved irresponsibly or misbehaved as usual. And here is a blog 405 describing two incidents; one of hospital and the other of IBN Live.
I kindly request you to expose them as and when you feel necessary so as to enable -
1. them to learn some lessons and behave properly in future and
2. us to get the first hand description of what actually happens. Because media will twist the story as per their wish and your EF will never come to know what has happened in real.
Thanks and Regards,
Naishadh Vyas
Dear Sir,
I loved the last part.
the firing u gave to ibn.live.
i feel you are speaking for all of us. i feel the same & wanted to say the same.
love & regards,
KRishna Raj
Dear Sir
I read your blog everyday…This is probably my 5th post…But I know you are super busy so not expecting a reply.
Hope you are well and God bless.
Hi Amitji
I am sure it must have been very difficult for you and the family to handle such a situation when the well being of family is the top most priority and you find yourself helpless. So frustrating !
It has certainly to do something with the infrastructure and systems at centres. It should be there in their system to manage crowd , VIP movement etc. But who cares after all they are all running as money making machine and same as
our media who only derives moolah from everything. Height of insenstivity .
We talk about making our setups as Shanghai / Beijing , huh !
Anyway easy to say but take it easy and take care in all possible manner.
Best wishes.
Dear Mr Bachchan
I am so very sorry to hear about the anguish caused by the medical emgergency suffered by your dear friend.
And yet again I am utterly appalled and sickened by the gross stupidity of the media, who seem unable - or unwilling - to comprehend how they add to the distress of such a hospital visit. Do they have NO human feelings? Can’t they put themselves in your place and imagine how it feels to be visitng a loved one who lies dangerously ill? Do they REALLY think they have ANY right to intrude on this, let alone behave in such monstrous fashion?
‘Cheering and asking for autographs.’ It would almost seem impossible to believe that people could behave with such crass insensitivity. This kind of mobbing and hysteria is truly a sickness of a very dangerous and profoundly shocking kind. Can such people not be banned from the precincts altogether? How dare they disturb the hallowed purpose of the hospital, to care for the sick, and allow access only to those who genuinely seek to visit the patients in a spirit of sympathy.
Those who cry that this would be counter to the ‘rights’ of press and public to be there, I would say that nobody has the right to behave abominably and contrary to every known concept of human decency and respect.
Yours in greatest sorrow, with much love from Daisy
_()_ Thank you !!
Dear Mr Bachchan
And while I am in anguish about your suffering, your arduous schedule continues to haunt me.
Films featuring, say, dogs, horses, or tigers often bear the legend ‘no animals were harmed in the making of this film’.
Reading the harrowing accounts of your Paa ordeal… acute sleep deprivation with those 2.30 wake-up calls, four tortuous hours in the ‘dentists chair’, drowning in your own sweat under layers of latex in furnace like heat… I ask myself can it possibly be said:
“no actor was harmed in the making of this movie’
And more specifically “Amitabh Bachchan was not subjected to cruelty during the making of this film”.
I’m afraid this member of the ‘animal rights lobby’ will soon be waving banners on behalf of her best-beloved human mammal
With love and consternation, Daisy
Dear Amitji, Good Afternoon. The reply from the VC of QUT is very apt and also a very considered decision to respect your sentiments. The issue is being addressed at the level of Government and Universities is very assuring development. Our sincere hope is that all will be fine in short time and corrective actions will be in place for safety of young children whose studies have suffered due to this development.
Your highlighting the plight of a celebrity getting microphone knocks on the head and fore-head is very disturbing. Never thought gathering bites is such a shameful method and needs some decorum to maintain. Hospital is no place for papperazi is very clear. One certainly appreciates what you highlighted and hope the new luddites of camera chasers will learn from your blog writing. Otherwise they shall remain someone uneducated in true journalism. Hope the anchor sitting on news desk realises that this piece of news bite comes from chaos and indescipline and needs moderation by ethical codes. Even ministry of Information and broadcasting should look in to this aspect of news fishing.
May be government can bring restrictions on media entry in to Hospital premises till there is a valid reason. Mr Amitabh Bachchan should not be the reason or for that matter any celebrity becoming reason for media to enter a hospital and disturb peace of recuperating patients. Self control is the best like in every ST it is written behind ‘Maanacha Brake Uttam Brake’
The best part of life is achieved when there is competition. Blog seems to be the new technological competitive marvel whose bouncers are troubling media. So you can expect some hits and misses on this issue. The helmets will not solve the problem but staying within the line and judging the ball is important. The best of both media and blog will certainly change the proceedings for the better. Hope everyone benefits from a healthy debate.

Holy Prositute(Book) by Anashwar Chopra written by my father 39 year back….
(1906-1970)
Relished By Sh Deepat Gupta CMD Plaza Cable,Delhi & SSP,Karnal.
Nothing will happen, nor has anything happened so for;
What is to happen does go on happening:
My life is a perpetual Today;
It is forged out of the blood of
Yesterday and Tomorrow.
The guidance of life is life after death,
If die we must, then why live in fear?
When all chances of life have vanished
Why, then be determined on death, but live
The past, which has never come back;
The future, which has never been seen
For then, I may sacrifice my present?
No, that is not possible for me!
– P.L. Chopra “Naseem” (1906-1970)
A man of varied interests, ‘Naseem’ was a member of ‘Karnal Club’ and ‘Bazm-E-Sukhan’. The leading publishers of Delhi published Aaina-e-Dil, is first book Urdu poetry 1961. It was later translated into English under the title “The Minor of Heart”. ‘Naseem’s poetry contains the choicest oriental thought in Pithy and several of his verses on amorous, heroic or philosophical themes have become oft-quoted quotes to illustrate poignant, suspenseful and lifting situation. The devotional element virtually eliminates the dividing like between the mundane and the divine and creates a musical impact. The aroma of the oriental past merges into lifting melody. Its dynamic presence and verses grasp all delicate situations with an unsurpassable thoroughness of simile and metaphors. The verses go very much beyond holding a minor to Nature. They virtually entrap nature at its best and present it in species. Naseem has left behind three sons and three daughters his son, Anashwar, also a lawyer by profession, has inherited his father’s library talent and published four novels in Hindi: Saanjhe Ki Poonji, Adhoora Anindya, Naari Ki Hatya and Naag Kanya. He left behind three grandsons Sh.Vaneet Chopra, Sh.Pratul Chopra and Capt. Ankush (Pilot with Jet Airways.)
An interesting fact about Naseem’s family is that its three generation has been old students of Dyal Singh College , Karnal (Hr) India . As stated earlier, he himself graduated from Dyal Singh College , Lahore whiles his son Anashwar Chopra and grandson Capt. Ankush Chopra, have been products of Dyal Singh College at Karnal. Their name is included in the distinguished Alumni Register of the college. Anashwar Chopra has instituted a trophy in memory of his multifaceted father in Dyal Singh College , Karnal.
Warm regards,
ANASHWAR CHOPRA.

Dear Sir,
Great power - great responsibility. I liked your decision not to accept the honor at this time. But leter on it will be looking very suitable to your sgacious personality to honor them by accepting the offer.
I do not take you only a citizen of India, rather an International and global citizen with a universal humanitarian approach and property of the art lovers through out in the world.

Dear Mr. Bachchan
Hope u r fine. The media sure knows how to ruin your day…
Every time you write something about the media i wonder how difficult it must be to be a celebrity!! I fully agree with your views regarding the media. Anybody can feel disgusted seeing their irresponsible behaviour. It’s time they stopped bothering you at least on such occassions.
Wishing you and your family tons of happiness..

This is a vicious cycle. Media that is. They provoke you and when you react they act innocent.
It is said that never fight an idiot as they pull you down to their level and beat you with experience…
I suggest no use fighting them..just ignore…
nothing beats people more that the fact that ” you dont exist for me”!!
Dear Bachchanji,
Today, when the world is seeing India in the light of progress, a lot of anti-social elements are trying to stop her. You have been an elite socialite and possess the power to change. Common people do it and go unnoticed… reason — corruption, red-tappism. Is it not remotely possible that the politicians create opportunities for the educated so as to not have reason to work out of India or go abroad for studies.
Today, Bihar CM has fecilitated 30 JEE crackers, and claims that there are more intelligent people than those listed. If this is true, if we as a united force try and train our people in India, we surely can avoid brain drain. The amount a foreign college would receive is exorbitant and again a loss to our nation. Can we start something in the interest of the nation where every politician is accountable and every citizen benefited. Its a simple but effective process. What is needed is a unified effort. What say?
Dear Sir,
I hope your friend gets better….will definitely pray for a speedy recovery….regarding the media….well sir it is a very dear price to pay for being famous i guess…..but isn’t there a way that the hospitals can prevent such infidels from entering their premises?? and isn’t there a way for celebrities to get a court order restricting the media from invading your privacy unless and until they are invited for an interview or as the case may require….
I guess you have already pondered over such matters….but if you do get angry then do release it …. for nothing is better than feeling stress free….only do the bashing on a pillow….:))
takecare Sir…..may your friend be blessed with good health….
bregards,
Roanne
Sir - Bit confused….Earlier this morning here in UK, the 405(i) post was showing as the first one today but now it is 405 followed by 405(i).
Looks like my comment to 405(i) I made earlier has been lost…ah well…

IBNlive is a busybody and it has no business to impute motives. By default, even your most simple gesture becomes a statement and your persona is making ibnlive lilliputs turn green with envy. Their entire organisation cannot match with your singlehanded popularity. Why should they put every action of yours under microscope and draw negative conclusions? It is they who want and seek attention and not you because attention runs after you rather than the other way about. Wishing you great times at the IFFA, Macau.

Dear Sir,
Good evening to you - Sorry I couldnt write to you earlier because I was on leave, hence was unable to read your blog - my apologies! Now I’m back so I’m so happy to read your blogs re. the Honor.
Words cannot possibly express how happy I’m to hear your decision re. the Honor. I’m so proud of you as you’ve made the correct decision on behalf of all the Indians - I too voted saying “No” (Please refer to my comment No. 286 dated 30/5/2009). Good choice under the circumstances - really appreciate it.
I’m so sorry about the hospitalization of your dear friend. May your friend will Get Well soon!

After going thru the whole situation..i really feel sorry about what had happened. I think nowadays media has nothing do et-all. So this is what they are doing. Totally time-pass …
Hello Sir,
I hope that you are doing good. I am an 22 years, female Indian student studying in Melbourne. I came to know that you have your blog space recently after your refusal of the honor presented to you by Queensland University. Sir, I was shattered by the fact that Indians are getting hurt and we were unable to do anything. It was a sleepless night for me when the incident happened. I came to know about it almost immediately through text messages. I didn’t know the victim but i felt the strongest bond with him ever as an Indian. I wanted to fight for him, and provide him comfort. But was scared myself.
The day my dad told me about your refusal for the honor, I really thanked you from my heart. I also could sense the pride my dad was feeling, over the phone. Truly thank you. I really respect the fact, that you upheld the fact, that you are an Indian and people from your country matter to you wherever they are. I do face weired behavior from certain people at times in Australia based on my nationality as an Indian and it hurts me very much. I want to answer them back but could not due to fear.I could sense the tension my parents feels for me as I am abroad but can not do anything to comfort them. But now I relate to your action as good deed to all my friends. I feel proud that we have a great man like you who sees his country people before an honorary degree. I feel proud while relating to you to my friends. Thank you sir. For me your denial was the best answer I could have given to the people who divided me from other people here based on my nationality. I used to read in newspapers that you are a superstar and I used to turn the page around feeling that you do not relate to common people like me. But today I realize that you are truly a superstar and you care for other people. Thank you! I am now a fan of you, a fan of the great decision you made. Thank you.
Wishing you all the happiness you want! take care and keep smiling as it suits you!
Cheers!
Fine post here. On the CNN-IBN claim of course the biggest irony is that the outlet like all others opts for ‘good copy’ when it makes a big headline out of your refusal of the honorary degree. The same with Aamir’s comments. Once this news story runs its cycle it then gives the same an afterlife by doubting the sincerity of the comments. Thus they have it both ways as indeed the media does on every such occasion. Of course your post today will contribute to yet another extension of this cycle! It’s not just in this area. The media will for example often sensationalize the greatest human tragedies and once the dust settles will launch a ’self-examination’ campaign on whether it was appropriate to give so much coverage to the respective story or whether the quality of te programs was in question, so on and so forth. This is true not only in India but globally. The media is a hungry monster that constantly draws sustenance from scandal and tragedy in equal measure. To be honest one can’t just blame the media. One also has to look toward populations that consume such ‘news’.
The letter of the university is a gracious one. Thanks for posting it here.
I did read some news reports about the Paa shoot on a train in Delhi. I am always thrilled with this sort of thing. Trains were so much a constant of Hindi cinema once upon a time. Not so anymore. One rarely sees this kind of representation from ‘Bollywood’ as opposed to say Tamil cinema where trains are still a staple element in all kinds of films. As it should be. A city like Bombay, millions of train commuters ever day and one hardly sees this in a film. The same goes for bus commuters. Think about all the countless moments of cinema, especially those dealing with romance, that took place on trains and buses. But again today’s films are by and large detached from such ‘ordinary’ representations. I always like to point out that things have been improving in this current decade. It is presently way better in this sense than it was in the 90s when people took trains of course. Only in Switzerland! Much as Indians apparently moved en masse to Switzerland as well. What paucity of imagination, what degree of ‘escape’ from the ‘real’ of India could lead one to stop shooting completely in an Indian city?! On the one hand this cinema appealed to a newer generation in India that was in flight from ‘history’, on the other hand it was also perfectly placed to appeal to a diaspora for which this served as the site of false nostalgia. It became all about weddings and more weddings. The lack of rootedness in these films made them actually more potent for both sets of audiences. Thankfully we have no seen the end of that phase and this ‘aftermath’ too has been years in the making.
I am of the view that there is nothing more exciting on screen than trains and horses. Ergo, dacoits looting trains is the best scenario possible!
Hi BIG B, Iam a first timer to ur blog and though I know u r multi talented but the way u write has bowled me over.Regarding the media, it was a thing to be respected and we had responsible journalism but today it has become a place to mint money. With hundreds of news channels it has become an habit to somehow get hold of something and then make it an issue and go on telecasting the same thing the whole day. The only way to stop them is by force. Let ur bodyguards give them a good thrashing and then jst issue an apology saying how sorry u are and the bodyguards in doing their duty had crossed the limit. This I think will make them think twice before coming near you.
Dear Amit ji
First of all sorry to hear about your friend’s hospitalisation and we pray for his speedy recovery.
As for the paparazzi, they neither have feelings nor regret. They don’t care if a person lives or dies. They are only interested in their personal gain. That’s exactly what their motive is. It’s simply disgusting. Here it’s an offence to even toot your horn within the vicinity of the hospital. I understand your situation where you have no option but to keep a straight face otherwise it won’t take long for the negative headlines to hit the papers.
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
Take care and all the best.
Regards
Divya
Amitji,
Should the media show a better sense of ethics and discipline at sensitive moments ?
Well i personally feel, they should not only show the above for sensitive moments but also otherwise…they need to realize that people who they are trying to impress by so many false news about celebraties are not stupid.. and need to learn to respect the celebraties and their privacy too.
its seems you are angry with this incident, but getting angry is not going to help you, the media would make out something else of this post on the blog by
the dawn of the day.
Hope you have a better day..today..and hope your friend in doing better!!
Take care
Bena
Dear Sir

Dearest super superman
And
From the Day 404 post…. Nikhil Kohli # 451 , Gaurav # 466, Bhanu # 484, Dear Mr. Amitabh Ziibbu and dear EF
I went through the article on the ibnlive website
And I echo all of you that the article is completely rubbish.
I made a comment over there but I am not sure if they would publish that or not, as usually they don’t what they don’t like.
Here is my comment on that article..
——————————————————————————————-
“Mr reporter
First of all, let me tell you that the article which you published on the publicity stunts of BigB and Aamir actually seems to be a cheap stunt by yourself for your own publicity which like you many other immature so-called reporters have been doing these days as they know how popular BigB’s blog is
Whosoever has written this article has long way to go to achieve the required maturity for the profession for he/she is working, yes the profession ‘ media ‘ is actually not every one’s cup of tea, and surely not yours because one has to be true and honest with what they bring in front of the world.
BigB refused to accept the honorary degree from the Australian university, which he did with his own call due to the current critical situation ,he followed what he felt, however, he had also consulted his EF (extended family) and Mr.reporter , for your kind information the EF has been with him for more than one year on the blog and sharing everything like a family which you would not understand unless you be the family.
Now lets come to the point Mr reporter, Like I said that BigB took the decision followed by his own consent though like an elder of the family he consulted all of the EF , so he informed the EF about his decision as a responsibility to inform because he had consulted them. But you, in order to spice up your news, forget all the ethics and the respect which you should give not only to the person you are uselessly attacking but also to his millions of fans, his EF, who are equally involved with him in his almost all the matters. You, took his mentioning about his step as a publicity stunt ?
We as EF, take it as honor that he shares his feelings with us as an elder of the family, so you better understand , before you make these sick false articles that you are not only making statement on him but also on his entire EF and YOU do not have any right to hurt the sentiments of millions without having the knowledge of what it feels to be a family.
One more thing, i also feel that people like you now have made this as source of a stunt of your on publicity by making harsh and false news on BigB because as you very well know about the popularity of his blog, so you find it an easier way to make yourself popular among your own fraternity. Don’t you ?
IBN, Think……..if you can.”

That was my comment, i wonder if there is anyway to stop these sort of unacceptable act by the media.
There has to be some way..what do you think ?
Thank you for your time

Dear Amitji,
You have made my day Sir. YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE……….
Your one liner response was coincidentally as articulate, brief but simultaneously elaborate as the scene explained in the comment. It now does not matter if you do not respond for ever Sir. Thanks a ton, from the bottom of my heart and soul. I was elated to note that the QUT’s thought processes were similar to mine. Nevertheless happy to note that the decoration will happen even if some time later.
My prayers for Shri Amar Singh’s speedy recovery.
The behaviour of the media at hospitals and funerals will take them as a fraternity exactly to these places ultimately if they do not mend their ways immediately. It is more the blitzkrieg of channels that has them hungry for camera bytes and this desperation overcomes their sense of decorum. Its high time these places and incidents start including event management processes whenever celibrities are infirm or whenever circumstances take them on the last journey towards God.
Thanks once more
Yours forever
Ramanathan
Dear Mr. B
How do u manage to be everywhere i ask whats the word for it oh ya “ubiquitous” am i right?Really amazing stamina in an amazing man seems unreal but true.Just a few hours ago finished watching on one of ur old movies on Tv and once again am at a loss for words to invent a new adjective for the charisma and persona u carry around ur self just mind blowing .And what a superlative performance that was cried and cried watching u on screen so natural and enigmatic. To me u r the best actor in the world honestly and i know you’ve heard it a million times but i say it again .Wish uthe very best of health so that u could entertain us for a long time to come.My warmest regards
Why is my comment awaiting moderation?
RESPECTED AMIT JI,
i M OF SAME VIEW AS U WROTE FOR IBM LIVE.iS MEDIA ABOVE EVERY ONE.MEDIA CALL HIMSELF MOST INTELLIGENT PERSONS ON THE EARTH BUT DON’NT KNOW THAT CELEBRITY IS ALSO A HUMAN BEING WITH EMOTION AS OTHERS HAVE, HOW WE REACT IN THE HOSPITALS? I THINK TODAY EJUCATION SYSTEM IS NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE GOOD HUMAN BEINGS.
LOVE & REGARD TO U
Good afternoon Sir,
Sorry for the situation u and Abhisek(bhai) faced at hospital just because of Media. Thats why in the previous comment I wrote that the media is not playing the role it supposed to play. They don’t undrstand that privacy is a thing that we all must have specially in such occasion and such place. They are crossing the limit. I hope that ur dearest one who has been hospitalized may get well soon.
Respects from my deepest corner of my heart.
Bikash
My Dearest Mr. Bachchan,
It is OK about the delay of the post, and no need for any apologies…
I would have hoped this delay and your absence last night, to be because you were having rest after the day’s work…or maybe spending some valuable time with your daughter and sweet grand kids.
But sorry to know it was a hard and a difficult night for you.
So sad to know about your friend, and that you had to face the insensitive media even in that sensitive situation. Of course your anger and frustration is very much understood.
Thank you for putting the university’s response to your letter on the blog.
It was nice to read and I liked what they had to tell you in that letter.
Actually it voices a point which I was trying to say in a previous comment, but I failed to express, that the inauguration of your movies in Australia may help to bridge the gap between the two cultures, and may help in introducing the Indian culture to that foreign society which may know a little about India.
I am sure your decision to decline that decoration came from within you and it is very much appreciated and respected for sure…and I hope there will be another chance in the near future, with better and improved situation, to consider such an award.
Strong and great response to such silly remarks by the IBN tv.
My love,
Rasha Zayed,
BigB yahoo group & BigB facebook group,

Hello Amitji,
Your rational about the media folks is quite right. There ought to be some degree of maturity to be shown by them, but I guess it will come with time.
Forget the media, who are following stars like you to every place…and believe me YOU ARE THE BIGGEST STAR of this century…, even if you were to look at the bustling life outside a hospital where people are busy doing their usual business while someone is undergoing a heart by pass surgery in the hospital.it looks funny….
Have a good nights sleep and rest well..
Lots of regards
Ameet
Hello Mr Amitabh Bachchan…
I am 25 year student studying in Melbourne.
I was really delighted to know that you have refused from accepting the honours from Queensland University.
You are few of the good persons on earth whom every Indian looks upto.
The recent media hype about the recent attacks are really disturbing for all we students studying here.. i do condemn the attack on we indian students.
But it seems things are just gettng worse.
All of a sudden everyone seems to be watching us..
When we travel by train, i find everyone staring at me.
Maybe it might be a physcological trauma or fear we all are going through.
But things have changed a lot here. All of sudden we get panic calls from home asking us if we are safe or not.
All the time we pray is just things get settled soon so that atleast our family members can sleep with peace of mind.
My parents these days call me twice everyday just to know if i am safe.
I dont think Australia is that unsafe a place..
I have been here for the past 2 years. I never had a bad experience yet.
As far as racism is concerned when in India we still have all these caste and religion barriers and issues. We are no one to talk about something that prevails in some foreign country.
I just want you to assure atleast all your fans and people in India that Australia is not unsafe. All these incidents can always be prevented in future and goverment is definately taking some serious steps for the same.
Thanks to our Indian Goverment as well, for reactly so quickly.
Thank you for everything..
Wish to hear from you soon..
regards
jiju
A great deal has already been said above from our dear EFs so wont repeat (well actually I don’t know what the heck to say). But may God give you even more strength to cope with these bunch of nuisances. Hope you have a nice day…
You are again disturbed, an account of your friend,s illness, which is understandable and agitated because of the media, which is also very much in order. Sure, the answer to the poll question is yes, the media should observe discipline and decorum specially in sensitive cases. In fact, anyone who is human, must do So……but your encounters are largely with the media, so you are justified in feeling how you do……
Nice letter from Queensland.
Server is playing hide and seek today.
Am returning home , with the hot winds called loo blowing. But they will cool down shortly.
Even this will pass away
Hope the message goes through this time.
BOSS -
I felt very sad after reading your blog. You have poured out your heart and showed how much pain you went through at the hospital. I hope your friend and family member is doing well and recuperating. No, I am not saying ‘move on’…I am glad that you are fighting against the media on ethics and code of conduct. Keep it going and hopefully one day, we might see a different media…thanks to you.
Sagar
Dearest Amitji,
I can feel how disturbing it was in the hospital for you and Abhishek. I am not a celebrity however I am sure this thing never happens to Alpacino or Mr DeNero. I work in New York and have seen couple of celebrities doing even grocery shopping and while there was a high blood pressure in the environment, no one stepped into their privacy. I feel it is due to our breed, we the original Bharatwasi. This will not change but will grow and will keep growing. You are a great human being and so are your children as you have passed it on nicely. However as India’s population increases, equation for the game of survival of the fittest changes rapidly producing “mean” and “spineless” crowd.
Thanks however once again to provide this media to reach you.
- Abhimukta
respected sir,

SIR
Yes Star News reported Breaking News that Big B arrives to see Amar Singh in Batra Hospital !!!!!
Yes there is no way out of this media circus, they need the one special BYTE to show they covered your visit to the hospital, FIRST and EXCLUSIVE Live pictures !!!!! They will go to any length to catch eyeballs !!!!!
I guess there must be some back door or private entrance to hospitals where you can enter or exit from, you must seek such point of entry and exit to avoid the problems, it is the easiest and simplest way out
Yes they are wrong but you or anyone do anything, they will not change, a leopard never changes his stripes, a dog’s tail will never be straight, so just let go, find another route / another path
B R Manoj
Mr Bachchan-
Do you PR people not call the hospital ahead of time to notify them of your coming ? We saw pictures of you on a stretcher being taken into the hospital not many moons ago with the whole world literally in your face which we all agree would be traumatic for anyone, being exposed like that. Someone of your stature I am sure cannot just walk into an establishment and expect to be ignored. Someone should take a stand and do this really, call up ahead, clear all the corridors and the entrance ( if there is no back entrance ), if the media descends put them behind the ropes as they would say at a respectable distance, that way you can enter do your thing exit wave to the media, show them the finger and be on your way without losing bits of apparel.
You with your jeep of gun-toting security people should be able to achieve this, what if someone from the media in their pushing and shoving should god forbid grab your butt or something.
Please set an example that all the other celebs could emulate.
Dear Sir,
The news media nowadays has become a rat race. There is no more unbiased demeanor, fair play and justice in the Media. At many times I think that the news channels are themselves organising the News. If you will ponder, how are these news channels in the offices of vice principals at the moment their (Vice Principals/Principals) faces are going to be blackenned? How come they are present at the exact time in the places before some local activists are going to beat up innocent candidates coming to give their railways job exams?
Our women cricket team fared very well and earned the third place in the Womens World Cup, but have you ever seen even one interview of the captain of the Team on our News Channels?
You certainly deserve your space but alas in this age of moblie phones information flies and these people are ready with their satellite vans to pounce on any piece of “Masala”. And the most you can do is write in your blog which is also constantly monitored by these sharks.
I sometimes feel that its good that I’m not a celebrity in these days, because nowadays not only the media but political and social organisations are just waiting for an opportunity to “cook their bread on your heat” translated in Hindi.
Dear Sir
You are truly one of a kind and the only person that can be called a role model of all generations. And by connecting with us, you also show how down to earth and gracious you are.
My respect and admiration
Respected Brother
Sadar Charan Sparsh
I would not know who did the finishing on the letter.. i.e. erasing the picture with white paint brush.. If it is you brother I beg your pardon.. it is not what you should have resorted to for removing what you thought may not be important..
The better way of doing such acts is to select a rectangular area that you want to retain i a photo or rather image, select copy and then paste it in a new file.. if you select the area as I do the result would be what I did to this image.. and I make it available on http://www.abhayaamitabh.blogspot.com just to make a point home and not in a manner to instill some elements of photoshop..
Coming to the reply of Dr. Coaldrake, I am convinced in my mind that propitious time would soon arrive when you would give the thanksgiving address at QUT after accepting the honor that you thoroughly deserve that truly would be a hallmark of improving and strengthening our relationship with Australia.. They are nice people the way hey have responded to your concern only proves my point.. I am also sure that you too would be able to see the logic in their plea..
Love you brother

Mr B,
Perhaps ur side shud have an open dialogue with the media and agree on a set of code of conduct, rules of engagement. come to an agreement which brings both the sides closer to what they need. eg. they dont bombard u inside the hospital, let u have ur privacy an in return u give tthem all a universal bite when u’ve done ur business inside the hospital. doesn’t tht make sense???
Hi Mr. Bachchan
It is disturbing to read the pathetic attitude of the media & the public towards the way they mob the celebrities .There has to be certain way to tackle the situation. If a voice is raised there are bound to be negative reports about the arrogant attitude.
If those who are public figures raise a voice for or against a social issue than the media blames them for being attention seekers else they will say they live in their world & don’t bother about the people who have made them what they are.
I hope your family friend is recuperating well in the hospital.
Take care
Love & regards
Anu Verma
Dear Sir,
I really feel so nice reading you,I am so impressed by your writings and the words you use in blog”hats of to u Sir”….I really feel the media keeps goign in wrong directions for their publicity. The need masala to present daily news…doncha worry..dont think about this all.Dont let affect you.You are precious to all of us.
Dear Amitji,
Please, NO apologies required at all.
Was truly saddened to read your post and the anguish you felt when visiting your friend in hospital. The behaviour of the media was despicable with no decency at all; don’t care how intrusive and insensitive they are towards you and Abhishek as long as they get what they want. But I think you bore it with good grace and forbearance. I sincerely hope your friend makes a swift and speedy recovery.
Thank you very much for posting the letter from Queensland University and receiving a lovely response in return and the offer being ‘available to acknowledge your contribution to the world of entertainment’ at a later date.
Your decision in not accepting the Doctorate was absolutely RIGHT! I salute your courage to follow your conscience.
You gave a good response to IBN Live. com, their accusation was ridiculous and a total disgrace.
Love and best wishes,
Brenda
A piece of paper for you is a piece of memoir for us!!
Dear Amit ji ,
MEDIA IS ONE OF THE MOST DOUBLE STANDARD DEMEANING PROFESSION THAT IS PREVALANT IN INDIA AT THE MOMENT………THEY HAVE NO MORALS NO VIRTUE , NO COURAGE TO BE TRUE AND ARE ONLY GUIDED BY THE CORPORATES TO GARNER MORE PUBLIC ATTENTION AND GENERATE MORE REVENUES……..IT NOT ABOUT AWARENESS AND BRINGING TRUTH TO PUBLIC RATHER ABOUT MANIPULATING ANY SITUATION AND OCASSION TO BEST TO GET THE BIG BUCK ROLLING IN FOR THEM …….. MEDIA IS A CIRCUS WITH EACH ONE OUTDOING OTHER IN HOW LOW THEY CAN GO TO ACHIEVE THIER SO CALLED TRP’S AND FINANCIAL TARGETS……… THEY MAKE A HERO OF A RAPIST AND RIPE OF THE PRIDE OF A WOMEN THRU THIER TALKS N NEWS…..THEY KILL THE REAL NEWS AND HIGHLIGHT ONLY THE ANGELS OF THE NEWS THAT THEY BENEFIT FROM….
ALL EVERYONE FEELS IS MEDIA NEEDS TO LOOK AT THIER RESPONSIBILITY AND GET THIER ACT TOGETHER…………….ITS WORSE THAN PROSTITUTION…….THESE DAYTS………AND ONLY HANDFUL OF PEOPLE TRYING TO KEEP THE DYING TORCH ALIGHT.
GOD BLESS U
Karthik
Dear Sir,
I am thoroughly disgusted by the behavior of the media people. They should not be allowed to storm hospitals and disrupt the sanctity of such places as hospitals, funeral service sites, temples, etc. Since teaching those people very basic culture does not seem to work, asking and pleading with them does not seem to work, then the only solution that I see is simply to have appropriate security services keep them out from the premises. By force if need be. What else can you do when civilized methods fail?
Dear Mr. Bachan,
Sorry to hear about your friend and really hope he/she starts feeling well very soon and that a couple of busy bodies in media will be reading your blogs as well and will try and understand a very human message you are trying to send to them, the right to privacy.
I think you should be the bigger man and accept the award, I, just like many others here in Pakistan, strongly condemn what happened to the students abroad and hope that all nations and races are treated with respect and dignity - but all hopes and wishes dont always come true, but again dont you think it will be better to make a mention of your feeling whilst you accept the award, just a suggestion ?
Warm Regards

My Dear Mr. Bachchan
I am sorry to hear about your dear friend illness….i pray and hope he gets well soon.
It is sad what is happening with celebrities. The media…don’t these people have a heart? i can actually feel the pain and disgust you and Abhishek went through…..this kind of harassment ,is it going to ever stop? i can only hope something can be done in the future….it’s worrying what you all have to go through.
When it comes to some of these sites like IBN Live .com ….etc….The headlines just turns one off…with all their twists and turns in the story….i just do not read further. It’s good that you are taking a stand to them,we are with you.
That was a very nice reply from the university….we shall all see what happens in the future.
You are such a humble human being….apologising to your EF.I would also like to apologise to you, if at any time i have offended you or any EF….in any way…please forgive me!
My Love and prayers always for you and your entire family….all EF
Saroj.
Hi,
i’m glad that the University has honoured your decision with such a positive note; Felt really disturbed to know the situations you and Abhishek had to go through last night in the hospital. The media and people (who claim to be your great fans) too lack the civic sense sometimes, they should learn to respect the celebrities’ privacy actually. We should feel that Bachhans are also humanbeings…they have their own sorrows and personal moments too.
I suggest, you once plan to call for an open meetign with media and saying them where their boundaries are ..they should not trouble the water first and then fish out of it..WIth deep concerns and sincere love,
Hiranmayee
Dearest Amitabhji,
By not going through my comments, I should say You have done the right thing under the circumstances prevailing. I am with you totally that you chose to be with your near and dear ones in the hospital. Yes you are a humanbeing and you have the absolute right and above all a duty and responsibility of attending them first especially when they need you. I agree with your priorities. I am more than happy with the amount of your love, affection, concern, touch , time, respect you gave me here. I cannot ask for more. I will not ask for more. This is a promise. I keep thinking so many times that If I get a chance to visit you, take a photograph, get a autograph, talk to you, lunch with you it would definantely definately do me good, but I also keep thinking it would do still more good to you and all that you do if I do not get a chance, because my getting a chance is exactly what you mentioned IT WOULD END UP IN DISTURBING, PUSHING, DISREPECTING THE SITUATION , CROWDING. I also keep thinking if and if at all I happen to see you I will show a sign from a distance that I am MARIO ANDREW RODRIGUES - EF(haha not joking), and you can simply wave out , if you see, if you did not notice that too is absolutely fine. Since it is you who do so much for me already.
I am extremely feeling sorry for the situation in the hospital. Yes you have to keep demanding for better sense, only and only then it would prevail, does not matter if it takes time. But continue saying and reminding all who does such acts of insanity and shows insensitivity. I wish your friend speedy recovery.
Its a wonderful and acknowledging reply from Vice Chancellor . The most touching line was YOU ARE IN A UNIQUE POSITION TO PLAY A LEADERSHIP ROLE IN HEALING WOUNDS THAT MUST BE HEALED. I cannot agree more on Vice-Chancellors thoughts. So much respect to you and at the same time giving you their assurance and also requesting you to keep being a LEADER of bringing PEACE.
May everyone be guided and inspired and follow your ways of thinking atleast I am happy that I am learning each and every day from you.
Once again, Thanks for all that you do and give to me here on this blog. It is SO MUCH to preserve and hold close to the chest. Well If anyone thinks I am lying, you know and I know that we are not, since we are celebrating our EF tag truly, and that is why I am here everyday(since 10 months probably) and you are here much much longer more ..13 months now…….daily and I know for me it is not difficult, but you make it look so easy inspite of your late hour, neck pain, extraordinarily hectic schedules and commitments, and even while you were in hospital. YOU ARE GREAT INDEED. GREAT INDEED ARE YOUR WORKS.
Sp.Regards
Mario

Just curious to know, do you type your own blog articles, or do you dictate and a secretary types it for you? I think I would say journalists, papparazzi, press, media, all of them are doom for celebrities who let them get to them. Wasn’t Princess Diana escaping from the papparazzi before the car crashed. You cannot let these people get to you, I guess bluntly put, this is the price you pay for being a celebrity.
Good afternoon my dearest, most beloved and respected one.., i’m so sorry to know what you and Abhi had been through yesterday in the hospital after a long, hectic, tiring and restless day… I’m so sorry to hear about what happened in the hospital ..
that is really saddening thing .. Unfortunately i can’t read the letter as i’m logging on through the mobile.. I agree with what you said addressing IBN Live.com.. But it deeply hurt me to know about the stress you are always exposed to. .:( one request… Please don’t appoloise to your loving EF… Take care.. See you tonight… Lots of love.
Dear Mr Bachchan;
I heard this somewhere; but should be extremely relevant about the mediamen of today
Critics (Read Journalists) are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it’s done, they’ve seen it done every day, but they’re unable to do it themselves.
Have a laugh…
Venkat
I have been reading your blog regularly but have been unable to comment because i have been preoccupied. As a race we the public and the media are inconsiderate to any situation , be it a wedding , funeral any grave event etc. There is so much of curiosity, and absolutely no respect for an individuals privacy. We feel deeply for you and i wish the media would follow some basic rules and conduct themselves in a responsible manner. I hope your friend is recovering.
We enjoyed viewing Total Recall part one and last night watched the Dvd of sarkar raj
Excellent script brilliant acting and a story well told.
Cheers and take good care of yourself.

Great response letter from Queensland University. It shows a high level of maturity and understanding on their part.
It was very sad to read of the treatment of the media, again, of you and Abhishekbhai. Of course, you should not ignore, hitting on your head etc. I think maybe you need more bodyguards, and maybe get some sort of police protection. It’s hard to think of what you can do, when you are in India, and I am in the USA. Yet, precisely because you are in India, your money can give you some flexibility, if you can creatively come up with a solution, to put it into effect. Maybe you can put on a face mask when you go out, so you don’t get recognized??? I know your height gives you away…
Thanks for showing the university letter. The person expressed varying sentiments and opinions in the letter; your letter was still more graceful. I think they were a bit stunned at the declination.
I am getting inspired by your discipline to work more hard and hopefully, this time, my work is showing fruitful results.
After a morning run (4th day in a row), I am now off to the shower, so until next time, tata!
Dear Sir,
I’m sorry to learn of your ordeal yesterday at the hospital. I hope your friend recovers soon. I hope you are feeling better today yourself. Most frustrating situation to be in. A hospital is certainly not the right place for this kind of dealings by the media. Why just the media? What about the ‘civilians’? No the civilians you mention do not appear to be very civilized. Complete lack of regard, respect, manners. Not for themselves, not for others. I actually find it shocking that these things happen even in a hospital in India with due respects to all concerned. Just blind fanaticism for celebrities! This is crazy!
I would like to assume that whoever arranges your travels etc would keep things under the fold so how do the media come to know about it? A quick visit in and out would be just so appropriate. I understand in India things work differently. I don’t want to say any more.
No we are not going to ask you to ignore things….at least not today….! I can see you snapping at me! Ouch! That hurt! No I am not going to ask you to move on… You stay put today okey? I am off…to look for the Swamiji who does Yoga and relaxation…someone’s is desperately in need…
Love,
Daksha
Dear Mr. Amithab, You deserves wishes from Millions of Indians for rejecting the Doctorate given by the Australian Victoria University. This honour is nothing but Doctorate from the people of inhuman Country with full of Racism. Please don’t reconsider for accepting the honour. “GOD BLESS YOU”
P.s. p.s. okay I really need to get this right the first time round, but thanks for letting us know what EF is, God spent time yesterday thinking who on earth is that … p.s. there is a message for you above as well, if you get round to number 100+ at all
peace
The name itself says a lot ………
The word “paparazzi” is derived from a character in the Fellini film “La Dolce Vita.” The character, a photographer named Paparazzo, reminded Fellini of “a buzzing insect, hovering, darting, stinging.”
Good luck!! Finally someone shows the will power and stamina to fight the ‘media’. If bollywood can get together for other humanitarian causes why can’t they all get together and fight against bad media outlets and paparazzi.
Some law maker or some organization should define a “personal safety zone” and no one should be allowed within it without the permission / invitation. Stay at a distance and click whatever you want.
Dear Mr Bachchan
It was kind of you to post the response of Professor Peter Coaldrake, the Vice-Chancellor of the Queensland University of Technology. It is reassuring to know that the Vice-Chancellor of QUT has great understanding for your decision and is open to granting you the honour at some other time in the future, should you be better disposed to receiving it.
It is my hope that you would consider the benefits of accepting the honour at a later date once the intense emotional phase of your reaction has passed and you find consolation in the steps being taken by the Australian and Indian governments to tackle the issue of violence against Indian student to the best of their ability , no matter whether the incidents were opportunistic crimes, or racially motivated against the Indian community in particular. Drug and alcohol related violence in cities is not targeted at any one particular community. Australia, as I mentioned in two previous comments posted here, is seriously committed to multiculturalism. I am truly proud to be an Australian citizen and I feel blessed that I did not have to give up my Indian citizenship.
Your physical presence in Australia would give you the opportunity to interact directly with those who have suffered and to get people here to experience the universal heart of an Indian such as you. You could also get feedback from Indians who are happy in Australia in addition to discussing your concerns about the few who have suffered, whether from criminal assault or covert or overt racial discrimation, more fully with several people and interest groups who are eager to have better relations with Indians and India. It would also give you the opportunity to experience the wonderful side of Australians and appreciate the beauty of this culture, as all countries and peoples have not just weaknesses, but also great unique strengths.
Human societies being imperfect, we all have a lot to learn from each other. In an interdependent world, the global village that we now live in, more good comes for all concerned by building bridges of mutual understanding and mutual respect. Rest assured that all will respect your decision in the future regarding this matter, no matter what it may be.
Yours sincerely

Agree with you. Hope you are feeling better.
With best wishes
I hope your dear friend is better. You’re right. Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches.
RESPECTED PITAMAHA,
NAMASKAR, CHARAN-SPARSH!
SAD TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE HOSPITAL WITH YOU AND BHAIYU LAST NIGHT… IT’S LIKE “CELEBRITY HONE KI KEEMAT CHUKANI PADI”… IBN.LIVE SHOULD BE BANNED IF NOT FROM WHOLE INDIA THEN I SHOULD ANTICIPATE FROM OUR RESPECTED EF… YOUR REPLY TO THEM IS A GREAT REVULTION WHICH THEY TRULY DESERVE…
MY OLD PAL “JOSHUA DAVID” FROM SCOTLAND (NOW SHIFTED) ASKED ABOUT THE MEANING OF ‘EF’ AND I REVERT BACK TO HIM… HE ALSO RESPECTS YOU A LOT & MET YOU WITH ME ALWAYS…
SO, THE CLIMAX OF THE AUSSIES REPLY FROM PROF.PETER IS ITSELF AN AWARD TO YOU & ASSURANCE OF OUR INDIANS OVER THERE THAT THEY’LL BE TREATED WELL WITH PROTECTION IS A SIGH OF RELIEF FOR ALL OF US… EUREKA!!!
PITAMAHA, I REMEMBER THAT IN EARLY 80′S/ LATE 70′S WHEN YOU BANNED THE PRESS, THAT TIME YOU PROVED WITH CONFIDENCE THAT YOU DON’T REQUIRE PRESS OR MEDIA’S ATTENTION, INTERVIEWS, ETC., TO BECOME A NUMERO UNO… TIME CHANGED WHEN YOU DECIDED TO SPEAK AS OUR RESPECTED “BABU JI’ ASKED YOU ONE BIG QUESTION….
CERTAINLY YOU’VE HIT THE BULLS EYE BY WRITING THE TRUTH/ FACT OF THE MATTER THAT T.V. CHANNELS GET HANDSOME AMOUNT WHEN THEY TIE UP FOR SOME KINDA IDIOTIC POLLS VIA ANY MOBILE COMPANY… GREED WON’T DIE..
ANYWAY, I WISH & PRAY THAT YOUR FRIEND IN DELHI GET WELL SOON & PLEASE DON’T SWITCH OFF YOUR MOOD DUE TO THESE FISTFUL OF MEDIA & THEIR RUBBISH SO CALLED “BREAKING NEWS’…
WITH LOVE & REGARDS!
AMITABH ZIIBBU (JAIPUR)
Dear Amitabhji!
I felt sorry to hear about the incident at the hospital and it’s a shame that those media people continue to behave in the way which brings embarrassment to the whole nation and this is a well known fact in India that discipline, etiquette ,and sense of respect is lacking at all levels,in spite of the country’s progress in all other spheres and this is something which everyone has to strive to improve upon. And I am more than sure if everyone makes a joint effort and implants in our mind that everyone needs space (be it celebrity or not)would be a better place to move around.I understand that those media people have a job to keep but they must also have a criterion and limitation within which to act.
Much regards

Dearest Mr Bachchan,
I completely agree with you on the fact that the media and the public should show some sort of restraint in a situation as that mentioned by you. As I am part of the public as well, I sincerely apologize for what you and Abhishek went through. I also second you on your thoughts about the media. The media has now become more like a typical hindi masala film where all camera angles and slow mo effects are used to enhance trivial pieces of news. I think it would be way better off to project news in a simple and straightforward manner with an aim to educate the common man and increase his awareness about the world around him

WHAT YOU HAVE MENTIONE WE ALL ARE TOTALLY AGREE THAT MEDIA HAS TO BEHAVE PROPERLY AND THEY SHOULD KNOW WHEN TO CROWD AND WHEN NOT TO BUT AGAIN ITS A SIMPLE MATHEMATICS, AS YOU BEING THE CELEBRITY MAKES AND ANY OF YOUR MOVE MAKES THEIR TRP RISING. SO, THE BEST YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU DID COZ THERE IS NO OTHER ALTERNATIVES.
ONLY ONE SOLUTION IS THERE AND THAT TOO BE TAKEN BY THE HOSPITAL ADMINSITRATIONS NOT TO ALLOW MEDIA TO COVER INSIDE…BUT YEAH THIS TOO BECOME DIFFICULT IN THIS DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY.
WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST..KEEP YOUR HEALTH IN GOOD CONDITION.

Hello Sir,
pranam, yup you are right…some of them doesn’t have common sense…where they are and what time…
Before, get to gather they have to be considering situation than asked for autograph and photos….Even I have found people like those insipte of into hospital premises they have turned on thier cell rings loudly…
I wishes for yours family friend coming out from emergency well…
As always smiling,

Good answer Sir.
Dear Mr. Bachchan, that’s the price you pay for being a national hero, don’t get me wrong but they are the same people who linger in for hours whether its 50 Degrees or 10 degrees with brutal police actions when they listen a celebrity is coming, at that time also one should utter in same frequency, Why are they waiting in these critical conditions just for a sneak peek …. Don’t forget you are because of them not vice versa.
By typing above words doesn’t mean I support those brainless actions whether from the crowd or from the media. Our media is still not matured enough it has a long way to cover…kind of questions they ask is shameful, I can remember one question asked by one of the TV reporter to a military personnel during recent Bombay carnage was “ Do you think there are terrorists present in some Jews building “ and the commander was furious …
So Mr. Bachchan it’s due to this “IMMATURE” audience and media many who don’t deserve any degree of attention gets a lot and who deserves everything gets nothing.
With best Regards

Dear Amit ji,
Completely agree with you with regards to media being insensitive to celebrities. Hope they get some sense by read this blog of yours (may be they will never…). Also I commend you for the decision to turn down the honors at Queensland university. I think it was absolutely the right decision that you made under the circumstances. Thanks for also posting to us the University’s response which seemed to be very well written.
Hope your friend in hospital feels better and recovers well in treatment.

DEAR GREEDY FAN MR. PAWAN PIPALWA,

well..i wanna say one thing..i agree tht u expect more of a quite life in certain kind of situations bt this is who you are and you can not run away from it…
some of the ppl in hospital must be dying of tumour, cancer and who knows what..they must be considering u god..and if u can make them forget their worries for a while then why not…? it will be the best thing you could do to them…
and if you don wan media to follow you around then you can wear a cloak and the go so ppl will not recognize you…
i hope you understand what my meaning is behind saying this and there are no bad feelings…
i wish you and your family all the best…and i don think you will reply to this but all the same…just thot of saying…

Lots and lots of love,

Dear big B,
I think you should say yes to the award from queensland univ .but should recieve the award in India..Request the vc to come to India .the untold statement would be that we welcome everyone. We dont like to be in a place where few people are racist and most of the police are irresponsible …
Please use your stature and ask queensland university to have better incorporation of indian students in their school. So you did your share to slove the problem at grass root level.thank you

DEAR MR. RAMAN JAITELY,
I’M HAVING 100 % FAITH ON YOUR WORDS HERE AS WELL AS TO THAT ROTTEN-FAKE NEWS CHANNEL…. YOU READ MY TODAY’S COMMENTS.. I’VE SAID THAT IBN CHANNEL SHOULD BE BANNED… I DON’T KNOW HOW MANY FROM EF’S WILL STANDBY ME BUT THERE WAS A TAG LINE IN “PITAMAHA’S” FILM “HE FIGHTS BEST, WHEN HE FIGHTS ALONE”…AND, I’LL GO ON THOSE LINES THEN…I’M SURE YOU’RE WITH ME…
THANK YOU…TAKE CARE!
AMITABH ZIIBBU (JAIPUR)
Dear Mr.Bachchan,
I appreciate your anger/anguish at the behaviour of the media. Even we as viewers/readers often find their behaviour/questions to be disgusting. I don’t know when or how it will stop or coorect itself but rest assured people are not stupid and if they(the media) don’t learn to exercise restriant then they will face the music one day. Here in Bengal also some people had thought that they are invincible but a crumpled cotton saree clad, lower middle class lady brought them down to earth.
Fight on and please talk…..and keep writing.
I am appalled at IBN.com comments. Will register my protest with them. Perhaps writing about you and Aamir has brought them more publicity!!!!!
Sorry forgot to mention yesterday that Abhishek got married on our 10th wedding anniversary(Hindu Calender)in 1997, which was incidentally also my younger sons 4th birthday in 1997,i.e. 24th April. So, we have 4 instances of some celebrations in our households on same days.
Regards.

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Hello!
I just read that you were “reconsidering” about accepting the award from the Queensland University of Technology and felt that it was an “emotional” decision on your part. I am not sure if I should trust this news completely, but in case this is true. Please consider this:
1) There has been yet another attack on an Indian this week despite the huge protests. You can follow the news here:
http://ibnlive.in.com/news/strike-six-another-indian-attacked-in-melbourne/93976-2.html
2) Did you see the manner in which the police lashed out at the peaceful protest march? They have also detained 18 students. Please follow the news here:
http://www.ndtv.com/news/diaspora/oz_defends_action_against_protesting_indians.php
3) If you said that your decision was “emotional” are you in anyway implying that being emotional prevented you from making a judicious decision? Is being emotional so wrong? If we do not follow our hearts this world will be a dangerous place to live in. Did those attackers show any behaviour that emanates from a humanist heart?
4) Have you traveled in the tube without your beefed up security men? I was in London this year around the same time as you were and had written to you (an emotional post!) at that time on this blog. I am a student and was traveling in the tube. It was during the evening office rush when I boarded the train. My “sin” was that I stood infront of a group of 8-10 “hoodies” (no more than 13-14 year old boys) because that was the only spot free to stand. My “crime” was that I came in the way of their newspaper ball throwing match. One of them shouted at me “move out you red bitch” (I was wearing a red jacket). Not a single person (mostly whites) stirred or protested. I never felt so humiliated in my life. Ever. On a second occasion I was waiting for the tube and this white chap came and started shouting: “You dirty Indian, you’re taking our jobs.” These are true incidents and these do happen. You are privileged. You move with a huge security cover. No one dares to insult or assault you. But you must know what the real life is like. If you saw the video of the Indian guy who was bashed up in the Australian tube on CCTV, you’ll realize what I am saying. Those images reminded me of my own experience in UK. Now I know this happens everywhere in the West.
5) There have been some people who’ve commented on this blog (as well in the press) that as Indians we have no moral authority to complaint when we ourselves are infested by caste, religious, linguistic and regional divides. True. But one wrong doesn’t make the other right. Both what we see in India and the racial spat against Indians in Australia are deplorable and should be condemned with equal vigour.
6) Where does this put you? You are a celebrity, you are immune to all this. It will be much easier for you to wash your hands out of this by saying you were “emotional” and want to reconsider. But if you want to stand by your principles, you must stick to your decision. You are a much loved artist and there will be several more felicitation opportunities where people will celebrate your work and hold retrospectives. There will be more honorary doctorates for you in future. This one you must reject. Its a matter of principle and protesting in a very dignified manner. Recall the Gandhian movements where so many people rejected British awards, jobs etc. I would urge you to think of this form of non-violent protest. You can make a huge difference in terms of how people perceive these attacks.
6) “Not all Australians are racist.” Absolutely correct. But many are. And the government has failed in its duty to protect people who live on their land. Justice has been denied. This is a protest against that.
7) Should you go to the Queensland University of Technology? I would say no. But there could be another option: you go there, inaugurate the film festival of your films, give a speech where you strongly condemn the attacks BUT refuse to accept the award. I know it may seem as an insult to your hots, but I just cannot find any sense in you accepting the award.
You mean a lot to most Indians. One gesture will mean a lot to us.
Thanks for reading (and hopefully pondering),
Love & respect
Namaskar……………..
Dear Mr. Bachchan
It is indeed despicable that even at such delicate times, people clamour for your autographs and photos. As for our media, its not just that they behave in this manner with celebrities, they do this to ‘ordinary’ citizens too, whenever any tragedy, minor or major, has struck… perhaps, they know no better!
I fully support your decision of not accepting the honour bestowed by the Australian University. I think it has helped in drving the point home to the Aussie Govt, that such atrocities will not be tolerated, and certainly the Indian citizens will not remain silent.
May I add, that this is the first time that i read your blog, though I have been a huge fan of yours, since my childhood…
I know it may not be possible for you, but I would be really thrilled to receive any reply from you.
regards
Sunila

anat magen here in israel…
Dear Sir,
I think, i was in rush in the morning when i came to your blog, didn’t see the write up, just saw the Poll, voted and logged out. I came again to check in the evening and it was a big write up from your side.
You look frustated to see Media, we already saw that news here in Dubai when they were showing you in the Hospital in Delhi. it’s really sad, My father in law keeps complaining, they just take one news and run it throughout the day. My Father in law was in Army, he says, there is a lot for news in North East, in other parts of India but they don’t bother to cover that kind of news. They’ll just cover one of the celebrity and keep showing it whole day.
Please cool down, it happens since you are a big personality. We are really happy that you share everything with your EF members. Thanks for that. At least we are knowing you better now.

Suggestion: Have a link to a page on your Blog with an outline of your acronyms and what they mean. You can then add to this page in the future.
Will will help avoid the problem of new-comers not knowing what the language/acronyms mean.
Amit ji,
I THINK THIS IS A GOOD POLL & THE RESULTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. MAYBE YOU SHOULD PASS RESULTS ON TO MEDIA!!
HOPE YOUR FRIEND IS RECOVERING IN HOSPITAL, A FRIEND OF YOURS IS A FRIEND OF “EF” & ON BEHALF OF ALL OF US WE WISH HIM A SPEEDY RECOVERY.
LOTS OF LOVE (as always)
YOUR NO.1 FAN FROM UK
Good Evening Amitji,
I would not want to be in ur shoes. Your decisions/ comments can be misinterpreted by the media and you put in a bad light, even though ur intentions are pure and without any personal gain/ publicity intended. The wolves of the media will never learn.
Take Care
Naresh
Salaam Amit Uncle,
I am very sorry that you and Abhishek continue to go through all the media drama, in fact, all celebrities, simply because the fans want to know. Perhaps you should send your photo team after them…follow the media hounds everywhere, stick the microphone in their faces, knock them a couple times, upside the head…give them a taste of their own medicine. But, you know, maybe the fans need to know what you all endure just these media hounds are in business because THEY want to know. I know that you all have to put up with a lot of stress, chaos, flashbulbs, trying to focus, hearing your name in every direction, not knowing where to look, and this is why I made the personal decision not to buy those magazines. Yes, I used to, but I got wise and learned very quickly that there is no truth in what is written or printed and no one, from the media, seems to care that celebrities are people too and their lives get disrupted and their feelings, and those of their family (immediate and extended) get hurt because of the untruths they continue to release to the public. I like this forum much better because we know what you want us to know and we hear it straight from you. There is no middle man to distort the facts.
I wish I could do more to help you, but I think perhaps the film fraternity as a whole should attack this problem from a different angle…Get the fans involved. Fans of celebrities all claim to be “die-hards” and I think are willing to do anything their idol tells them…maybe this is where one should start because attacking the media does not appear to be working.
Take Care Amit Uncle.
Oh yes, great letter from Mr. Coaldrake.
Much Love,
Dear Amitji,
I sincerely like to pray for your relative who is in the hospital. I do agree that media should show respect to people who are in hospital for illness and treatment, and not gether around any celebrity or politician- who come to visit the relatives. I agree, if you would have responed otherwise, it would come in the news- Bachchan misbehaved with media!!!!! it will never be new- media misbehaved with Bachchan- that would be a news! Hope you got rest and shall be with us when you get some time.
love
Ashesh
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Sorry to hear you have such a hard time on top of your busy schedule !
I hope and wish your friend will be well very soon !
Media can be educated ! I wrote to you one time, education from home during childhood , means a lot later in life ! People without that kind of education are “the ones” you find around you yesterday ! To do that kind of work , you need to have no decency, no respect and no feelings !
I saw you have very strong bodyguard ! Please use them in these situations and by force they need to be kept away from you ! You are a public figure ,not a public property !!!!
Who ever think they deserve to be in touch with you because you are a celebrity, is WRONG !
It is a PRIVILEGE if you want to give that opportunity to someone !
About your decision not to go to Australia.
The Vice Chancellor from the University has also responded in a very nice and understanding manner, different than some other people. You were right with your decision !(I voted for yes ,but now I can say was right what you did!)
Dear Mr. Bachchan ,
I hope you will have no more annoying time !
Good night and very sweet dreams ( for 67)!(I told you , they are sweeter at this age because you know what to dream for!)
e.t.
P.S. Thank you very much for your “yellow strips”! The effort to do that means a lot !
Dear Mr Bachchan,
Sorry to hear about your friends illness and the media intrusion which is a part and parcel of celebrity life.
Can I add few observations..
1) If you had not been a celebrity nobody would have read your blogs even if they were the most mind inspiring ones. Thus celebrity status has conferred that the public wants to know about you….the minute details like how many times you sneezed today.
2)The media try to bridge this gap between the celebrity (YOU ) and the takers ( US). Thus it may sound very very bitter but yes WE TWO (YOU and US )share and hate-love realtionship.
3) Media should definitely show restraint but they do not because of US who actually form your EF.
Suggestions
1)Ignore the media…they would always ask stupid idiotic questions because your EF would expect you to repeat your dialogues from Namakhalal even when you are mourning. Treat them a fly on the wall and ignore such ignorants. Give them camera bites when you feel it is right and necessary.
This may sound stupid to you….
There are currently so many messages sent from sms floating in the air…are you able to listen to each and every one of them? Do u find the time to read each and every email you receive ? So..Y bother….ignore…..
Forgive them, for they know not what they are doing..
You have a stature which is iconic. We do not have much role models in our country ( or should I say the world ) today. You are perfect role model and we would expect you to maintain that.
I know you will be angry with me for giving the media the free run…..but please sir try to understand they do it for US…they do it for your EF..yes your very own EF who love you and torment you in every possible way..
Regards
Rongon
Mr. Bachchan;
Whilst there are many who claim to stake their life for u may i humbly introduce myself as a mortal fan who has thrived and imbibed a whole lot of virtues , sometimes watching your movies, at other times simply by reading your blog. I often read your blog like a younger member of the family would listen to the elders. The generation gap between us maynot be very wide.
Your attack on the media often worries me to the extent that someday would they not be waiting for an opportunity to cause damage to you at the slightest provocation or fall. At your age possibly with your stature the potshot may never hit you but if they are going to target abhishek and ash for this would u be able bear it? Can u not possibly be a little more diplomatic in your tirade against them which would set u apart from the tirade that they practise. Veggie food for thought for you Mr. Bachchan
Hi Big B,
Really really feel sorry for what you went through last night, and one could easily make out your frustration in today’s post. Tats it, nothing much. Hope things improve. Tats wat we can do !!!
Cheers,
Sajid
Dear Amit jee,
You won’t believe what I just saw. Times of India has published a picture 4 hours ago claiming that it is your new look in Pa. I can’t tell you how much I abhorred reading that article. I would have pasted the link here but on second thoughts, I do not want to be a party to publicizing their piracy. On the other hand, I would like very much the members of the EF to go their site and give them a piece of their mind for not following any ethical guidelines whatsoever. I, on my part, have expressed my concern on their site. I hope they have the courage to publish the comments they get on this one.
I feel anger and disgust… as if they stole something and there is really nothing that can be done about it. I wish there were stricter laws governing the content one can publish about others. Imagine not having to hide in a towel to prevent ’stealing’. If all aspects of life followed media’s lead on ethics, we would still be in living in ‘Dark Ages’
Love always

Dear Dr. Amitabh Bachchan
Me and All country are love u very much, and i Pray God that u live always happy and healthy. I am happy about ur decision, but i want to say that aap ko Australian ceromoney mein jaana chayie becoze they are love u very much.
( Hum dusro ko kya bole humare Des mein hi Insaniyat khatm hote ja raha hai)
My opinion is that u personally meet with Australian people through media and tell them whatever they are doing is not good we r same people like u…further u know better then me. (If any mistake in comments then i’m heartly sorry for that).God bless u

how r u?
i like u very much.
please please please reply me
i hope u will reply u……
dont break my trust please………
HI Amitji,
I agree some people always have negative things to say about others whether it is you or someone else. I’m not indian but i’ve been reading your blog and Many others celebrities sites/ news media online..and I MUST TELL YOU EXCEPT HERE IN YOUR BLOG WHERE EF POSTING (IF THEY ARE AGAINST SOMETHING) ARE RELEVANT AND MAKE SOME SENSE TOO but at other sites i saw readers (not ef) just bashing celebrities and anyone. so much negativity. i never saw black writing personal attack comments on black celebrities or spanish on thier spanish celebrities. they pride themselves but SOME indians writes such personal attack and negative stuff which makes no sense or got no logic. I saw that especially written on ASHWARYA. They attack her whatever she does something. I THINK INDIAN SHOULD BE PROUD OF ASH FOR ACHEIVING SUCH IN LIFE AND HER BEAUTY/SIMPLICITY but all i see is people being cynical ..jealousy is better words i think.
Love you
Ugen, California
Dear Bachchan Sir,
I came to know through news papers that you denied the honorary doctorate degree which the “Queensland University of Technology” was supposed to award you. This is highly appreciable decision you took for the sake for those Indians students who were being badly tortured in Australia.
We use to read about “Shri Ravindranath Tagore” about denying the “Noble Prize” at the time of freedom fights. This is repeatation of the similar incident done by Great man like another great man Tagore.
Also nice to read your blogs.
God bless you Sir.
Sincerely
Gururaj

Hi Sir,
In the flood of all the other comments due to your popularity, mine has been gone unnoticed and have not got a response, so I shall try again. Hopefully this time getting a response. Another interesting fact is that every time I don’t post, you end up replying to MANY comments and when I post, I do not get a response. Acknowledging that you have read this and will answer at a later time is even great. Thanks.
Moving on, I just wanted to say some things, and I do with much politeness and utmost respect. Wanted to say the latter because sometimes reading makes it hard to make out how the other person is writing. Just like you love reaching out to us through your blogging and us commenting back, we love reaching out to you in the hope of also having you comment back to our replies. So, I was just wondering, is there some way you or your server could make it possible for us to get a response back more frequently time to time from our favourite?
Also, there has been something that I have been trying to ask you about, but have not been lucky in getting a reply. You eventually made it to the Indian film fraternity, despite your turn backs due to intimidating guards or ‘big’ producers turning you back. Based on your experience(s), what advice and steps to take, would you recommend to those (who have no connections to anyone already in the industry) wishing to enter the Indian film fraternity as an actor?
Regards and love,
S
Namaskaar Amitji,
I love your energy and fighting spirit! You take a stand and have the courage of your conviction, a truly admirable task. Not very many people possess your courage and sense of integrity, you know.
You’re an excellent role model for everyone.
Keep up the inspiring work. And thanks for sharing the letter from Queensland University’s Vice-Chancellor.
I love you.
Leela
Dearest Amitji,
I can feel how disturbing it was in the hospital for you and Abhishek. I am not a celebrity, however I am sure this thing never happens to
Alpacino or Mr DeNero. I work in New York and have seen couple of celebrities doing even grocery shopping. While blood pressure rises when people see them in close vicinity, no one disrespects their privacy.
I feel it is due to our breed, we the original Bharatwasi’S. This will never change but will grow and will keep growing. You are a great human being and so are your children as you have passed it on nicely.
However as India’s population increases, equation for the game of survival of the fittest changes rapidly producing “mean” and
“spineless” crowd. However we can not categorise Indians with that word as there are many other factors for which you cannot expect a decency. Most of these decent looking people with indecent behaviours are from various poor or uneducated or BASICALLY INDECENT backgrounds.
I know I cannot sound intelligent when writing to Amitabh Bachchan. But I am glad that at least I can write to you.
Thanks once again to provide this media to reach you. Please do not stay awake late every night. Your existence matters to most of us and to your family. Continuous late nights will slowly take all of your energy and that is definitely not an option as you are the HERO.
- Abhimukta
Amitji,
I didnt noticed this message for some reason, did you upload this later???
I totally agree with your stand with the media and with the understanding of sensitive matter, you as well me it will never change thier views..
Sorry to hear about Amar Singh going into hospital for the kidney stones, which again what I have read…I went into emergency on sunday fearing the same thing…fortunately i was sent home on the same after some painful test which i have mentioned before…
Glad to read the letter from the GUT, Im glad they respect your decision..hopefully you will be able to accept this award on hopes for a better future for both countries.
All the best always

P.S Thanks for your reply of concern for me on Day 405 (i), this is what makes it special being your EF..:)
Hello. Finally, I know what EF means! Thanks for clarifying for newcomers to the blog and Hindi movies, such as myself.
I am from New Orleans and we have a few celebs living there and owning properties there, such as Brad Pitt, Ang. Jolie, Helen Mirren, Taylor Hackford, Nicolas cage and a few others. For some reason, no one ever really bothers celebrities in New Orleans. It has something to do with the Bohemian type existence here…..so come to New Orleans and make a film here! You get tax incentives, balmy Indian-type weather (not during Hurricane season!) and a mostly-private existence.
Media and paparazzi intrusions are inexcusable. I suggest a very serious disguise built by one of your costume designers…..
Nan
Dear Amitji,
I can understand your desire to respond to every piece of nonsensical tabloid like news that comes your way. I just do not understand the need.
Off all people, you would know the difference between fact and fiction (tabloid). While I have my own strong reservations on the current state of TV and internet journalism, I do not see a need for celebrities like yourself trying to explain, rebut and highlight every piece of news that mentions your names. In doing so, you are providing the story more traction than it deserves. This in turn will result in an counter article, and this process will be cyclic until some other news story comes to fore.
Priya Sakhaa,
HI, how are you?
please please please…Don’t apologies..
Hope your friend GET WELL SOON.. feel very sorry for all that YOU and Abhishek had to experience..media is heartless. I think media should not allowed to enter in the hospital area.
very nice reply from the university.
I’m totally agree with what YOU said about IBN Live.com..very true.

IF we weren’t so scared of seeming racist, we wouldn’t now seem so, er, racist that even India is giving us lectures.
Amazing, that. India, which perfected the caste system and is plagued by Hindu-Muslim bloodfests, is telling us we’re too prejudiced?
But we have only our own stupidity and grovelling self-hatred to blame.
After all, which nation has spent so much apologetic cash and sweat to persuade the world we are vomiting with racism, and which has been, on the other hand, too militantly anti-racist to point out who is actually bashing many of these Indian students?
There’s no doubt that Indians here - not least the 90,000 students - have something to worry about, especially in Victoria. In this one state alone, and in just one year, an astonishing 1447 people of Indian origin were punched, kicked, raped or robbed.
That fact alone should worry us most in this affair that has now led to two angry demonstrations by Indians in Melbourne, hysterical coverage in the Indian press, official protests from
the Indian Government and the burning in India of effigies of Kevin Rudd.
It’s the sheer level of violence, not the motives driving some thug to kick in a student’s teeth, that should shame and alarm us. After all, it’s no less terrifying to be kicked in the head by a saint.
It also hurts just the same whether you’re Indian, English or a Colac farmer, so we should be angry that it’s not just Indians being bashed, but people born right here who are kicked unconscious at railway platforms, glassed in pubs, shot in Flinders St or pack-attacked to death outside nightclubs.
Where are the police? Where are the punishments? How did we fail to civilise so many young men, now acting like gleeful extras in a Tarantino splatter-fest or an Underbelly celebration of ferals? How did we fail even to make them fear to break the law?
Yet this violence alone was not enough to make our leaders and police do much beyond some ritual tut-tutting and a spasmodic police blitz or two.
It’s only when the Indian students cleverly claimed they were victims of racism that - kaboom - these muggings became an international conflict involving the leaders of two nations, with Australia scrambling to protect not just its reputation but the $2 billion a year we earn from these foreign students.
Prime Minister Rudd hurried into Parliament this week to reassure India we weren’t racist at all: “Australia is
a country of great diversity, harmony and tolerance.”
Premier John Brumby agreed, and offence at the charge of racism was dutifully taken on almost every talk-radio station in the country, including even the ABC.
Yet who can blame Indians for thinking this worst of us, and treating Rudd’s denials as mere spin, when we’ve spent so much time telling the world we really are steeped in racism, right up to our red necks?
Only last year, Rudd himself announced we’d been so evilly racist that we’d even stolen Aboriginal children by the thousands just because they were black - a false claim cheered in every school despite the inability of “stolen generations” activists to name even 10 such “stolen” children.
Last year, too, we gave the the world Australia, a movie made and promoted with the help of $80 million of taxpayers’ money, which portrayed us as so racist that we’d actually sent Aboriginal children into the path of the Japanese army during World War II, while carefully evacuating the white ones.
More nonsense, yet how keen our opinion makers have been to slander us as bigots on evidence just as bogus.
REMEMBER how the Cronulla riot was described as a racist uprising, rather than a booze-fuelled backlash of locals given too little police help against Lebanese gangs?
Remember how Pauline Hanson was vilified as the symbol of racist middle Australia, rather than of merely the sneered-upon working class and bush folk who had been taken for granted for too long by our smug political class?
So, after accusing ourselves of so much racism with so little reason, why should we now be surprised when Indians agree that - yes, indeed - we’re as racist as we’ve always said?
The difference is that this time we stand to lose billions of dollars from our trade in education services to India. Stupidity becomes too stupid to endure when it costs, and the fact is we really aren’t so racist at all. Indeed, our problem may in part be the opposite.
That so many Indian students are bashed and robbed can be largely explained by the kind of part-time jobs they tend to take, being hard workers - the late shifts in 7-Eleven stores, taxis and petrol stations, for instance.
Imagine how safe these students are when they then go home alone late at night, often walking or taking near-deserted trains back to the tough suburbs where the cheap rents are. How safe would your own children be?
But some attacks aren’t so easily explained away. Some, you might say, are “racist” in that Indians are famously peaceable - less likely to break the law and less likely to fight back when attacked by those who do. To thieves and thugs, they’re soft targets.
That said, other attacks, as Victoria Police now belatedly admit, are indeed no-mucking-about racist. But to whose shame are these racists, really?
True, video footage of the infamous pack-attack on Sourabh Sharma on the Werribee train shows thugs of various ethnicities, including, it seems, the Anglo kind.
But what police and many journalists refuse to confirm or even discuss is what victims and their spokesmen repeatedly say - that many of their attackers are Africans, Islanders and, less often, Asians who are newcomers themselves, beneficiaries of our eagerness to seem kind and tolerant.
Hear it from Macquarie University student Mukul Khanna, called back home by his worried parents: “A lot of my Pakistani friends have left the place after being brutally attacked and robbed . . . Interestingly, the attackers are mostly not locals and are themselves people of foreign origin.”
O R read it in an edited statement that Tanveer X, bashed in January, gave to Beyond India Monthly: “When I turned on Anderson Rd I saw four black men . . . One of them came running behind us and hit me with the stick. Then they started hitting my wife . . . I want action against those African guys.”
And have it confirmed in this Herald Sun report from last year, when Indian taxi drivers protested at having been the victims of most armed robberies on cabbies: “This year between May 8
and August 2 there were 12 reported robberies on taxi drivers in Flemington, Moonee Ponds and Ascot Vale.
“Police will not officially acknowledge any particular ethnic group is a target, or that any other group is carrying out the crimes. But in every case the victims told police their attackers were African . . .” And in all but two their victims were Indians.
Note yet again the reluctance of police to admit they have trouble with African gangs — or gangs of any particular ethnicity.
Recall also how former chief commissioner Christine Nixon banned police from even using the word “gangs” and falsely claimed the crime rates for Sudanese were at the community average, rather than way, way above.
Note, also, how few media outlets will even discuss the ethnicity of some of the people now bashing Indian students, for fear of seeming racist.
That’s how the false perception is allowed to grow that these attacks on Indians are just another example of our institutional racism, when the reverse may well be true — that we’re so over-eager to seem not racist that we take in immigrants we perhaps should not, and refuse to admit when they go wrong.
AND so we are hanged for our virtues. Again, I must point out Australia has home-grown racists, too, and too many children growing up underparented and uncivilised.
They, too, bash Indians - and each other. But to call us a racist nation on the scanty evidence so far is grossly unfair.
That we should take such offence is evidence we’re actually not, no matter how loudly and how foolishly we once insisted we were.
SirG,
Your dilemma about media insensitivity and byte Grabs has been since long and unresolved.
Rationally its a little difficult to assess, since the First thing what you have been propogating (which is not acceptable to your huge fan folowing) that you are a normal person who goes to work as a common man every morning.
You have also refused to acknowledge that you are a celebrated personality for the millions of people who know you more as a BRAND - AMITABH BACHCHAN than as what you claim you are only human (obviously). For some you are GOD !! (IMMORTAL).
I sincerely doubt that you have people around you, who can tell and suggest you some of the few prinicples (which you follow from your own Babuji and which are dear to you and are going to remain as a compulsive part of personality, life long) are reciprocative and contagious in nature by which I mean you drive youth and people around you to be very sincere and hard working in whatever profession they may have chosen at that point in time.
You are lovable respected worshipped and well accepted as a TASK MASTER. In the blogs following the whole of last year you keep mentioning how the youth work around you and are not as comparable to the standards of involvement as you would have expected. Nevertheless you also write how eagerly you allow them to be for what and how they behave in my words FORGIVE & BLESS them to be as great as possible.
Isn’t it true SirG unless when one has been with you for a long period of time and know and read your hidden LOVE and AFFECTION below each frown and wrinkle and your DESIRE to share and give whatever you can at that point of time finds your behaviour strange in few challenging times.
We at EF now can boast about this familiarity since we have been living with your each breath and emotion since the last 400 days.
SirG the FABRIC of the BOND the COURTESY and the SOUL behind the BRAND BIGB which melts whenever there’s a CALL like these times to meet your own people, the time which you feel its OK to be HUMAN, but to see feel and understand this FABRIC a human needs a special EYE - that what comes after being baptisised with cultural prinicples and Blessings.
Nobody can deny your large heartedness and respect to the media, but believe me you need to be your own fan to have understood this.
We need to guess how many of these who may have traumatised you and taken away your feelings at such times may have just joined this profession to have a closer look at the huMAN himself the BIGB.
Had I been your VIDUSHAK SirG, in all humour I would have surrounded you with a minimum of a 100 and odd of your own great/Grand children of all ages and sizes, who keep trying to play foul with you and you keep trying to please each of them.
What a hilarious DREAM or a MOVIE it would turn out to be where you yourself will play both the GOD and the MAN behind it at age about 80/90 PLUS. (DADI AMMA DADI AMMA Maan Jaoo, Chhorho Ji ye Gussa zara haans ke dikhao…!!)

Dear Mr. AB,
Thank you for addressing the Australia issue again. The post before this left me with the impression that this topic was done for you and the blog was back to fun and games. Nothing wrong with that in general, but please let me explain why in this case I thought there was something missing.
I fully accept your right to make an emotional decision according to your conscience. Every human should have that inalienable right. But since you are a public figure, and - as you said yourself, (thank you for that), the other side has its merits, too - in my mind you also have assumed a responsibility to this issue.
Thank you for remaining open and balanced. With the world economy the way it is going, many tensions will certainly continue to rise. Keeping open communications is in my mind the most important safeguard we can assume.
Sorry to hear how insensitively you were treated by the media again.
Love you,
Renate
Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
Thank you very much for your kindness and reply - means a lot to me… : )
*
I was trying to be humorous in my previous comment not knowing you were having such a sad day…
I am sorry your dear friend is in a hospital and that you and your son Abhishek were interrupted and prevented by the crowd of media in giving your friend full comfort of your presence..
It is so important to visit a sick friend or relative in a hospital and be with them and it causes anguish to see the loved one suffering…
No one can predict or avoid being taken ill and at such vulnerable and painful moments there is a great need for privacy.
I like your take on media in this entry - it is very explanatory and humble.. I wish there would be some sense and human feelings left in them to hear your fair voice and to comply for the sake of not only you and your family, but for all who they make suffer this way as the victims of their insensitivity !
And in general I have a belief, that thoughtfulness is a key ingredient in relationships and interaction between human beings.
No one should be castigated and ridiculed.. But for some reason people like to do it to the others much more willingly than showing care and respect . Sometime that is so much needed - to leave the others alone..
Just as your example of the despicable article by IBN Live.com, who think that they have the right to cast their dirty opinion on the good and conscientious deeds of others.
How often people think that they have the right to impose and tramp on the space and the private world of others and interfere with it !
We rob the others of their rights to live a good life, to feel, to say, to do… And if this life is not evil, by what reasons and means it has to be derogated, criticized and judged !? Should there be a negative opinion on something that is positive ?
Why don’t we just let the others be…be who they are…be happy the way they can be…
I guess all these ethical and humane matters might not be first on the list of the agenda of media people. It looks like all they want is some material provided to make their business. And live people are just the objects for them…
*
The letter of response to you by the Vice Chancellor of Queensland University of Technology shows how right and justified was your decision whether to accept the Honor - the decision that was made by you from within…
I am very glad to witness this. Thank you for posting this letter here.
*
On the lighter note, I had a nice encounter with nature today in the morning in my garden..
When I sit at the picnic table the squirrel we named Sweet Face comes very close to me on the grass - almost to my feet. He stands upright, holds his front paws folded to his chest, looks at me and even makes his mouth move like he would be chewing ! I always respond and bring fresh amount of seeds to the feeding dish.. On my way there he leaps with joy ahead of me - knowing what’s coming…
Can’t believe these animals - they just can’t talk, but they are so connected..
I wish you to have a good night.. Rest well and take care..
God bless you.
With love and gratitude.

Respected Bachchan sir,
it is for the first time, i am submitting my comments on ur views regarding “celebrities not understood of their feelings even in hospitals”.
sir, i fully appreciate ur inner feelings expressed on blog, but, u must be agree with me that the celebrity brings with it such things. The fact remains that a person once become celebrity is deprived of personal life to the maximum extent and he or she becomes a public figure, whether it is film star or politician or any one else.
Bachchan sir, i am 43 rite now and i still remember very well of ur accident in the year 1982 during the shooting of COOLIE and at that time, i was just 16 and this incidence has shaken the entire country as well as world all over and every one was praising for ur good health and recovery irrespective of his/her religion and for this , the credit goes to the status of being celebrity earned by you. All such prayers work together and we have seen our Bachchan Sir not only recovering but also growing in a new form, to which, we all r pround today.
Sir, i was also one of those who had prayed at that time and even in that teen-ageing time, I had sent a letter of good wishes to you. After your recovery and return to Prateeksha, it was a pleasant surprise for me to have received a reply letter under the signatures of Jayaji with your one of rare black & white photo (rare at that time). I still preserve both these things with me, which is undoubtely a treasure for me.
Sir, we all r proud of u and u r effectively an Ambassador of India for other countries. I must say, the attention drawn to the issue of state of affairs of students in Australia, is only because of you to such an extent that the Indian Prime Minister had to talk to his counter-part, who had to condemn all these attacks publicly, with the assurance to deal with the matter sternly, which would go a long way in resolving the issue.
Sir, i would consider myself lucky if i had a word of ur reaction to my comments on blog or phone (if u direct, i shall be happy giving it).
Rohira, NL, Gwalior, India,

Dear A.Bachan,
i ve come again to react to your comment of today after several days of disappearance.Of course we are proud to hear about your ongoing shooting here and there and this makes u a perpetual icon to entertain the fan worldwide. We also express our admiration for your energy when you keep writing endless pages notwithstanding your overburden program.I feel that i am the only alien in your blog responders for the majority seem to be originally indians, but i dare say arts and artists are born for humanity in general despite the cultural and geographical difference between us.
Dear Uncle,
Completely agree on all that you have said and all the queries that you have raised are genuine. I think you and Abhishek should have immediately shown your discomfort towards all that happened. I am sure, if media and fans do not understand your or anyone’s emotions, they better dont be given as much respect as you showed towards them. I salute your patience and would request you to kindly not tolerate all the nonsense and ruckus created by media and the public. As long as you are right I dont think there is any explanation that you need to give anyone. I am surprised by the comment passed by CNN-IBN (IBN-LIVE) against you and Aamir. I would again suggest you to ignore any such comments and move ahead the way you have been moving through the thick and thin for the last 4 decades. People who know and understand you well will never question your honesty and patience and will be there with you, how much ever the media writes against you.
All the Best and I wish to meet you personally once in my life.
Regards,
Vivek
Hello Sir,
Well I am a new addition here, family extended further, and as its the first time for me I can feel the deliriousness inside. And I hope I make sense to you.
Well this simulation which provides me the medium to get to you is something which makes it look utopian… and trust me I’m finding it quite weird on my part. Though as an undergrad student social networking, blogging, etc are so very exploited but still its hard to believe that this text will reach you and you will read it…(I’m seriously not making sense).
By the way, the term with which you address us “EF”, it sounds warm and as it was da first post I read with the annotation for the people who still couldn’t decipher that.. it seems to be a cosier simulation… Hats off !!!
Well I read about the “public pings” which every celebrity suffers and yes I totally agree with the problems you might have to deal with. The lens has always spotted you the calm-maxxx manner so actually we can’t figure out the amount of uneasiness n frustation you are going through and also to add to that you have been polite to people which really is applaudable. We have definitely spotted some celebrities infuriated, hurling to the paparazzi away… thats easier I guess.
Anyways Sir, It is nice to be an extended member of your family…
I will talk to you again.
Love,
Tulika
Hi Big B,
Forget something important..wanted to share something personal. I haven’t been able to reply to your posts from last week. The reason is as follows:
Last Wednesday, i.e, June 27th, 2009, it was a normal Wednesday afternoon, my sister-in-law (my brother’s wife) was at her mom’s place with my nephew (1-year 9-month-old). They stay a few kms away from our place, in the second floor of a 3-storey building. After having lunch, my nephew was playing near the balcony and suddenly the most unfortunate incident of our lives happened. My nephew trying to climb the rails of the balcony, while my sister-in-law went into kitchen to bring a glass of water, sustained a fall from the second storey of the building (around 20-25 feet) direct to ground, and he is no more !! Me and my family are going through one of the toughest times of our lives. We still cant believe that something like this has actually happened !!
Who is to be blamed for this, my sister-in-law who wasn’t there at that time looking after him, the in-laws, or the Almighty God Himself.
The purpose of telling this to you is, I always was a firm believer in God and had complete trust in him, but dont knw why this incident has put some doubt in my mind. How could God be so cruel on such a young child of His ?? Plz shed some light.
PS: “Aamir and I indulge ourselves in this sort of activity for the sake of seeking attention and merely for effect.”
Well its darn conspicuous that IBNlive is making this news to seek attention.. ATTRACT !!
As a rational viewer, I can assure you that these type of mix-masala news which we see today, we actually do not pay heed to that. Its true that the Junta today is definitely not stupid that it cannot make out the news which r flashed, repeated, dazzled and sprayed on our screens is no news but another effort to make a daily soap out of real characters.
And the Junta already knows all that fallacy that goes around the Cricketers & Filmstars… Its just that some irrational minds get carried away.
Gosh… Its really hard being a ROCKSTAR ..!!
Dear Big B,
The media and crowd mobbing will be one of the toughest part of a celebrity life.. but for you I hope it has become a part and parcel because since past so few decades you have been experiencing it..
Dear Sir, very disheartening.looks asthough The Times of India have managed to get your picture for PA…so annoyed as you have tried to keep it undercover..y o y do the press have to spoil things…….
Dear Amitji,
No words after the explanation on what happened in the hospital. It is strange that most of them (non-media) are supposed to be part of the EF. There is this over value of celebrity in most parts of India and it is high time to dismiss this as part of celebrity lifestyle. What you are doing is a great service to the new generation and the constant messages day in day out about ethics, courtesy, social behaviour all will add up some day and instill on the future generation. I am very happy and proud that you have started this blog and doing this great service to humanity.
Take care and keep well,
Cheers,
SaiRam.
Dear Amitji,
It is really bad to hear that you not accepting the Doctorate confirmed by Queensland University… Sir there have been n number of such incidents across the globe… if you remember may be 6 -8 months back, we used to hear the news of students from India being killed in the USA.. then you never reacted to any such news.. The timing of your conferral and the attacks might be coincidental, but I would like to ask you one QUESTION - would you denounce your doctorate, if you have taken it and the attacks have happend a few weeks later … I am an Indian, who has migrated to Australia, a couple of years back, we often hear the news that students are mugged, people are mugged in the streets.. we hear only one side of the story .. but what are our people doing to provoke incidents like that …
1. We get all the latest phones / ipods / gadgets and try to flash it in public…
2. We wear tons of gold ornaments like chains/ rings and even diamond studded jewellary in
public - like the cricketers who tend to flash their golden stuff on the TV
3. We never try to understand the culture of the local people, we try to converse in local language looking at the oz bloke’s and try to poke fun at them & their families …
4. party at the weekends, drink & throw stuff on the corridors , break glasses, and cause nuissance to residents, if we have a majority - try to get into a fight with people on girls or make dirty comments on them…
all these weigh in when some one tries to attack a person… dont you think so….
last year my brother in law was stopped in a busy intersection - mg road in bangalore and robbed off his purse and mobile, they tried to snatch his bike, but he resisted that move they ran away… we tried to complain to the police, but they never did anything…
this happens everywhere …. havent you heard about incidents like this…
please never villify a country for a few thugs out in the street, we love india and also australia, this is a very goodplace to live .. provided a person stays in his own boundaries….
we would like you to comedown here oneday and accept the Doctorate, and meet you in person for an autograph…
Wishing you the very best …
Shankar
Dear Big B,
Either ignore the crowd,or fight.
Please ask your security people to keep them away,
way……..away.Our media and many people
would not understand the simple straight things.
‘Laato ke bhoot baaton se kabhi maante hai bhala !’
by the way, Professor Coaldrake tried to pacify the
inferno issue -I hope ( with doubts, though ) they really
meant that way.
Have a pleasant time ahead…..
Dear Amitji,
Given the special significance International Education holds for Australia (serious revenue generator: $15bil. in 2008!), QUT’s decision of bestowing the honorary degree may in part be based on their desire to use Mr. Bachchan’your aura to promote the university to South Asian aspirants. Seems like a stretch, I know. But given the lack of academic standing and repute that the Oz univs. command, the argument isn’t all that misplaced.
My two cents. (US, not australian)
Regards.
Dear Mr. Bachchan
First of all I must say that I felt so warm after being addressed as EF by you. Really that meant something.
Your comments on media and the way they behave in certain situations really make us feel ashamed. In year 2004 or 5 I dont remember exactly but when Mr. Mehmood died, I saw a NDTV reporter rushing towards Lucky Ali who had just arrived at the airport from NewZealand and her question was Sir, what song of Mr. Mehmood do you remember and would you sing for us.
I was so shocked and felt so embarrassed myself on watching that. I mean how could you talk to a person who has just lost his father in such a manner and ask such questions.
But thats the sad situation of our country and we are just mere spectators to it.
My idea of writing to you was to just tell you that even though you might want to pay a visit to Australia but dont accept the honor at this stage. I am saying this because if you accept now. All media people will use just one word “Denial drama” or something like that.
There is lot of politics on your name already but the letter from University makes them deserve your visit.
Wish you best of health and good luck.
We love you
-Anmol
Dear Sir,
Please consider these news recent/today’s headlines concerning Australia:
1) Aus. GDP rises 0.5% in first quarter Link: http://bit.ly/NEcBL
2) Another Indian Student Attacked in Australia Link: http://bit.ly/2J09z
3) Australians worry assaults could scare away Indian students Link: http://bit.ly/gO8hA
4) Aus. Minister of Education speech on Internation Education - Its contribution to Australia Link: http://bit.ly/qZim2
5) Aus. Minister of Education: Recent Speeches* Link: http://bit.ly/ZsV6K
*Note there is no attempt by the minister to address the attacks especially given that it concerns a major revenue source. Very intriguing.
You can clearly see the following pattern emerge:
- International Education is a significant source of revenue for Aus. ($16 billion last year, per Minister’s speech)
- International Education probably saved Aus from sliding into negative growth, i.e. recession
- Australia is concerned not that these attacks are deplorable acts but because their sizeable revenue stream could be threatened (Indians stop comin to univ., loss of fees revenue, etc).
- And all this while another student is attacked.
Australia, you cannot cover your deeds anymore. Shame.
Prospective Indian students contemplating going to Australia, go to US, UK, or even to Singapore.

Pratap

HI Bachan sahab…
You are in a position to show The world how we indians feel about the recent attacks against our brothers in Australia.Indians pay fees in the college, working in the shops and paying income tax from the money they earn, other than that they contribute to VAT while doing shopping and living mostly in the rented accommodations.Still these people attack us thinking we are parasites on their country.
Bachanji aap ne ek decision banaya…there is no change in the situation in Australia..they haven’t made any solid decisions….they are just commenting it as local thief attacks and not ready 2 admit as racial attacks.
Hence PLs dont reconsider your decision…dont take it.
What the hell is happening on this blog. What all the observer of BigAdda doing? How they can allowed this here.
You two are looking great fan of respect sir.. But it doesn’t suits you all to fight like this nobody is here to prove that i m better that you and all. Everyone has their own words.
Mr .Pawan If you had the experience u shared then it ok you have shared this over the blog and Sir will sure respond you. you please take time and think. i think you are very hurt about that incident. and Please do not post the same comment again and again.
Mr Amitabh Zibbu - As you are a big picture of our own god and looking like a real time fan of him. But you do not have any right to respond like this. If Pawan has any issue he will solve at his end.
We are all from same fraternity. Do not fight.
Dear Mr. AB,
Thank you for addressing the Australia issue again.
Love you,

Hello Amitji
How have you been? Read in your blog that you guyz had to gone through maltreatment by Delhi media. Feeling bad about it..
And i can purely understand how have you been going through in the hospital while u had gone to check one of your relatives. All i could say is because you are a public figure and people want to spend a asecond with the legend amitabh Bachchan whereever possible, be it hospitals, road, malls so on and so for.
I think, i am becoming regular on poster on this blog, your blogs are so enthusiastics that it compell me to write back to you on various above disccused topics..
I give my consensus to your decisions of not accepting the doctorate award by the Queensland Unversity, after going against your decision in my previous comment..
Thanks & Regards

Hey Mr. B
THANK YOU for clearing that out for me! I have been wondering what EF means ever since I started reading your blog and I even asked a few times.
And thank you for calling us your extended family.. I may not always comment but I read your blog everyday =) You’re a fantastic writer and your daily ordeals are quite entertaining =P
Well, appreciate Mr. Bachhan getting disturbed by racist attack on
Indians in Australia. But a question here, obviously and
logically as well, crops up - was Mr. Bachhan not disturbed by the
similar attacks on NORTH INDIANS in his own city (Mumbai)?? And where was his voice (from within) then?? Quite
unfortuate and very filmy!! It seems Mr. Bachhan’s conscience is directly proportional
to the financial implications as condemning the incidents in the
Oz wont hurt him (his and his son’s films) much financially but a similar
condemnation of the attack on North Indians in Mumbai would
definitely have affected the financial prospects of his movies.
So, it seems, Mr. Bachhan is playing safe. On second thoughts, I wonder
if Mr. Bachhan actually subscribes to the theory that Mumbai is not for North
Indians. Mr.Bachhan, unfortunately, your voice from within looks very farce and scripted.
u did the right thing mr. bachchan !!!!
Dear Mr. Bachchan:
Please do not give in to QUT’s request and stand your ground. Firm. Resolute. Your decision is the righteous one, well thought out and taken with conviction.
Nothing Australia has done since the attacks that materially addresses the issue at heart: racism against Indian students. These innocent students who keeping a part of Aus. economy humming, are filling Aussie coffers, and are helping it avoid a recession.
I wonder if Australia’s muted response would have been the same had the nationality of these victims been, say, American? You bet your Aussie farm, by now every policeman worth his pittance would have been pressed on service and all politicans - big and obscure - would made their pronouncements against racism and hate-crime by now.
The stark difference in what is and what would have been the response is, sadly, predicated in equal measures of color of victims’ skin and the geo-political clout of victims’ country.
A very sullied yet accurate assessment of the country, I admit.
Sincere Regards,

Its good that you have protested against racial attacks in australia. But big question is where were you when north india were being attacked in mumbai.
And even today poor people are harresed ny MNS and Shiv sena.
Dont you think that even it is a kind of racial attack. or even you afraid of these peoples.
Dear Amit Sir,
I agree with your instant views refusing acceptance of Hony. Degree of Australian University. However, I my view, you should accept the Institutional Honour and simultaneously get an assurance from University and Govt. of Australia to stop assault on Indian Student and create a congenial environment for studies of Indian students there.
Hope you may agree with my view, if so please respond.

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
“My conscience does not permit me to accept this decoration from a country that perpetrates such indignity to my fellow countrymen.” A profound statement at that Mr. Bachchan, but based on total ignorance, and seemingly uncalled for, from a person of your stature. With one stroke of pen, you have branded a nation, and on cue, 25 million people, of perpetrating racism, based on incidents, which at worst, can be described as a few teenagers with twisted psyche running amok, driven maliciously by their own personal prejudice against a particular race.
These few teenagers are not a reflection of the overall society; otherwise it will be easy to brand every Muslim a terrorist after 9/11, or every Hindu, a mindless communal and killer after Naroda Patiya! I hope you understand what this means Mr. Bachchan?
I am definitely not debating the fact that a few of those incidents in Melbourne were racially motivated. My heart goes out to Shravan Kumar and his family, and the numerous other students who were injured in these mindless attacks. Some of these were racist attacks, and should be dealt accordingly; but again, to brand a nation as a whole, as racist, is being frivolous.
I fully respect your decision to refuse the doctorate award. I fully comprehend you hearing a ‘voice from within’ which made you do this. I fully understand your shenanigan of polling your blog readers for their opinion, and then belittling their response by going on record to say that you would have rejected the award irrespective of the poll results! But all this is fair only if base your opinion on hard facts, and not exaggerated notions! Your rejection of the award is based on a false premise of a country perpetrating racism! This is a kneejerk reaction at its best and totally unacceptable. Isn’t it ironical, Mr. Bachchan, that the country you are brandishing as racist, is the very country that’s bestowing you an award? How weird is that??
The role of Indian media has been dubious in all this. They have exploited this to the fullest, and given a garb of racism to some legitimate concerns of Indian students. Adding fodder to the maniac coverage are comments attributed to celebrities like you. Yes, some of the students have gone on record to say that Australia is a racist country (and I dare say they are wrong), but is that reason enough for every newspaper and TV channel to come up with scary headlines and chest thumping anchors? While we, at ground zero, are left wondering whether we missed something as blatant as racism!
I can totally understand the emotional plights of the victims, but I wonder how many of those Indian students who hold this fraudulent perception of Australia as being a racist country, will leave Australia for good, after completing their studies? Your guess is as good as mine. The point is, more than often, students get swayed by emotions and tend to overreact. They give in to a ‘mob mentality’; what is true for one student becomes true for all students. The media and respectable people like you Mr. Bachchan must analyze these complex situation carefully before jumping to conclusions. What you inadvertently, and at times deliberately, do is stoke non-existent issues into full-fledged flames of vicious lies.
I came to Australia as a student; I have lived here for 7 years now; and yet to experience an act of racism. If I am an exception, so are the thousands of other Indians who have never experienced racism. Sporadic incidents of race based violence does not tantamount to state sponsored or societal racism. That’s prevalent everywhere including India, and next time such an incident happens in India, we will keep our ears open Mr. Bachchan, for your sound byte!
First I would like to convey my regards to you as I feel that you are by my side at this dark phase of my life by this gesture of yours. My husband died in Melbourne on April 20th as a result of a car crash on 16th. He was on his way to office and was standing on the footpath when the accident occured. His body was flown in to India on April 30th- our 10th marriage anniversary and his srraddha ceremony was held on 2nd May- my elder daughter’s birthday. Samrat was an engineer and did his management from from IIM, Calcutta and was thinking of starting a business in near future. Till now we cannot believe how this accident happened- whether it was an accident at all. 1 and a half months have passed and everyday I dream of him everyday calling me & the daughters to join him where he is now. I am the only child of my parents and it is totally uncertain whether I will be able to survive .

Dear Mr Bachchan,
Perhaps you would look at the appeal I’ve put up on my blog, here? Please do consider making a gesture, like you did with QUT, about the other killings of Indians mentioned there.
Thank you.
Hi Bachan Uncle,
I am Abida, originaaly from Pakistan but living in London. This is the first time I am writing to you. You have won the hearts of people through your work BUT this is something os a higher level you are doing. Indeed your influence has panetrated in the minds and hearts of people from different backgrounds, whether Muslim, Hindu or any other religion. You are not just a big actor but also a magnificent writer. I am impressed of your ephoristic writing style than your acting.
Love you,
Aabi.
At the outset let me say that im a huge fan of yours. Ive been following your blog for a while and your refusal to accept a doctorate has forced me to write to you. While i completely denounce the racist attacks on indian students in Aus im just as baffled by the media hype and the comments on racism by us - Indians who i believe are just as racist!! We are living very sadly might i add in a society that is partial- and blatantly so to the “fair” skin and is divided by caste and parochialism, so rampant that our very identity as Indian nationals is under a cloud. Let us try to clean our backyard of these malices before pointing out others follies

Keep up the good blogging.
i really love this blog. nice celebrity information that keeps me recent on all the news.
I love this article!! I have been reading this blog for quite sometime now, and this is my first comment. I would like to tell you that I enjoy reading this blog, and that I love thought provoking articles like this!
