As predicted, the photograph of the day in the media, was indeed the one that EF was the first to see. And wonder of wonders there was not a single comment on the interpretation of the act. I wonder if it had something to do with the fact that it was they that asked for it and then realized they may have put their foot in their mouths.
I also feel that we were not the only culprits. There were several. Including dignitaries and politicians and even the system.
Watch…
See…!!
Indeed there were write ups on the justification of the middle finger markings and as you may have adequately noticed we were not the only ones that were asked for confirmation !!
Ok.. enough chatter on the importance and value of what makes the human different from other living creatures.
The opening was to give Abhishek his due reward for being the most valued brand ambassador or endorser. That photo is from the function at NDTV where he received the reward. The shades were his new style statement, he joked.. Ha !!
Another day gone by and no work. Its the 1st of May, labor day and Maharashtra Day. So a state holiday.
And I wonder when I shall be too old for work, how my days would be spent. Because the last few have been somewhat monotonous, barring the great patronage of the IPL. But what when it gets over in another month. I need to develop some skills. Play an instrument, learn a language. Have been saying this for years but never getting serious enough to actually doing it.
Cleaning up my cupboard would be an interesting job. Sorting out all my books and paperwork would be another. Wife would be delighted. These areas seem to be the most vulnerable areas of domestic attack !! Come on wives, be honest. Is not that correct. I can already hear the rumblings of a debate, merely a polite way of addressing the issue, fructifying.
Men do have this quality of a certain order in their disorderliness. And women hate it. Keep getting hit on the head often on this score. Watching your favorite team play on the tele is an important event. We need the popcorn and the soft drink and the snack carelessly strewn all over. We need the remote lying around carelessly. We do not like obstructions in front of the screen, nor are we available to attend phone calls. We are a focussed lot.We express joy through deafening screams when a goal is scored or when the ball is hit out of the park. We do not like to be hauled up for not coming to the dining table, we’d rather have our meal wherever we are - lying on the floor in despair or jumping on the sofa in excitement. We talk to each other during the act. We argue strategy and discuss it in loud vocal tones. No we are not actually coming to blows. But we would if in the middle of the game we were to be asked to give an opinion on the dress worn by a Mrs or Ms at some social do !! Or whether their make up suited the occasion or not !! Just give us some understanding, honey. Football and Cricket are great games of skill. They require television audience concentration. We believe a transformation of energy does indeed scientifically take place when we shout GO ! CHELSEA ! or MUMBAI INDIANS !!
Victory does induce further discussion and passionate assessment of the after game. We still remain in ‘Do not disturb’ mode. A loss is more clinical. We like to get to bed immediately and most certainly do not wish to be disturbed.
We are like that only…
Like right now I do not wish to be disturbed.. I wish to hit the sack.. ya ?? ok.. good night and shabba khair..
My love… just in case Rochelle is diligently noting all this..
Amitabh Bachchan

SIR PRANNAM …..PLEASE FORGIVE ME AS I AM USING THIS SPACE TO RESPOND TO MR ANKIT AND MR ANKIT I MEAN NO OFFENCE TO U BUT UR JOKING ABT MY MOTHERLAND IS A BAD THING
I AM NOT SORRY TO U FOR BEING PATRIOTIC
To mr ankit,
i understand the meaning of the joke but i want that we the youth of india should stop joking around and do something abt the situation of the nation.
If you would understood what i meant mr ankit you would not have thought of our national security to be a joke. If we one by one start understanding the situation it would make a difference.
Do you think holding the IPL outside india was a bad decision. Imagine if something happened to some foreign origin players would it not be national shame
as the govt had to conduct elections this year which is a part of our constitution, and we are not a small country with population in some millions , we are more than a billion. And out of the billion, educated people like you and me are busy cracking jokes or fighting over these jokes. Where are we heading to?
Itne baazu itne sar ,gin le dushman dhyan se. Haarega woh har baazi, jab khele hum jee jaan se.Aao aa jao,jag pe cha jao.
Lets stand united and no one shall even THINK of defeaating us let alone defeating us.
Yes, I am very diligent in noting this!
And I’m sure you can predict that I’m not the typical woman as you have written it.
Bring on the sports and you should see my apartment.
Now I must leave work to catch a train.
So more later,
LOVE,
Rochelle

Respected Amitabh ji,
I have always called you “Amitabh Bachchan” with a silent prefix “the”, its feeling funny to address you with any other name.. I have known you through your films, media and filmfare, . I had heard about blogs but had never checked what is it. Kept hearing controversies like you keeping gun under pillow or Aamir naming his dog … I somehow never gave much importance to blog. By chance I fell sick, I am almost bed ridden since last six month. Recently got broad band connection, suddenly felt like checking your blog – I need not tell I am a big fan of yours – I simply loved the idea of connecting this “blog” way with us. Read many of your blogs. Its such a favourite pass time that next few days of complete bed rest would pass easily.
There are simply no adjective suitable enough for you, for me your name is not a noun, it itself is an adjective.
This comment is to just thank you for writing … with a hope that my first ever comment to you would be read and responded…. that would be simply dream come true.
Wishing you all success and good health …. always.
Ranjita.. I am so sorry to learn that you are unwell.. may you recover as soon as possible.. love and good wishes..
hahahhahah! loved reading your blog today more than ever…I am a housewife too you know

.. need to develop some skills. Play an instrument, learn a language. Have been saying this for years but never getting serious enough to actually doing it.
I was thinking out loudly on similar terms but did not mention in exact words as a response to one of the fellow bloggers..
Oh I will need to read the complete blog only later.. I resubmit a report which I submitted on the last post.. not for being amongst the first but for a probability that you get to read it..
Mini Report on the two games on May 1 2009
Dear Brother
Sadar Charan Sparsh
We had two good games and very close than the scores would or could suggest.. in fact Kolkata Knight Riders had more chance of pulling off the first one compared to Kings who failed by almost a similar margin in almsot identical fasshion.. bothe the chasing teams had got off to pretty good middle innings nut that was not good enough.. Quality bowlers in Malinga in Mumbai and Kumar clsoed the curtains on the two teams that were asked to chase the targets set by Mumbai and Bangalore..
My God Kings Xi had enough of personal glories on the day except the win in the game.. they had a hattick by their captain also a brisk 50 by him and though Abdulla won the purple cap - the two could not win the game for their team the other side played more as a unit and exceeded their performance collectively.. and that is how the T20 is more likely to be palyed as a unit and not as individuals..
I think I would be rather forced to make some space for Virat Kohli in the 16 that I suggested in the morning form team India for T20 world cup.. he definitely is outstanding in the field and quite a utility player.. he must find his way into the 16.. I am also impressed a great deal by Apanna’s two match performances as a new spinner with great promises..
If Duminy did it for Mumbai Van der Werne (excuse me buddy if I spelled you wrongly..) made the day for Bangalore..

Dear Mr. AB,
Got a chuckle from your description. Looking back to the 80s, the same would have applied to me with regards to the Boston Celtics (Basketball) Oh, I miss those times…
Have fun (and elation) watching the rest of the games.
Good night, sweet dreams of victory.

dear anna,
here are a few questions i wanted to ask you…on the vote
____________________________________________________________
HAS MUMBAI LOST ITS RIGHT TO COMPLAIN
____________________________________________________________
1. we see that in spite of 26/11 and all the change….wanted and the demos people of mumbai just seem to be lazy to vote.
does that mean that when a city vote % is 42 less than in 2004 and compare to the national average of above 50 % have you lost the moral right to complain.
2. if u remember in 1984 itself mr m j akbar a renowned journo said
MUMBAI HAS CUT OFF ITS DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS WITH INDIA……because the people dont seem to find that post of the prime minister or foreign polices etc important and just dont turn up to exercise their choice.
3. we know by now whether it is the king khan, aamir, or the big b family, no mumbaikar is willing to listen to u and vote, maybe your profession is an overhyped one and appeals only to the media.
4. kindly note the superrich areas like cuffe parade and south mumbai has one of the least voting percentages………..AND MR TATA DID NOT VOTE.
5. in view of the above …….is the criticisim of the mumbaikars towards our national polices on economy, defese, homeland security etc valid……..cause u had a chance to choose ur man but did not.
6. it seems that the mumbaikars feel that india can be run on campaigns on FACEBOOK and that is the way to run a country???
hope u reply to me anna,
your thambi from bangalore

Hey Dearest, Guess I am the 2nd one to comment.
Well yaa you r right all of the above pic shows that marked “MIDDLE” finger, and that’s what made me laughing , and laughing and laughing …..yesterday.
wow what a finger to mark on all Indians who vote on the election day, hope it changes , I never understood any logic behind it .
Anyways, as always my bestest of the best looks soooooooooooo handsome, smart and just awesome in this pic, Jr. Bachchan looks just sooooooooooo cool. Love him a lot. (pl. convey my message)
and I can go on n on n on on the topic of hubbies not keeping their cupboards and drawers and tables clean and Mrs. always complaining about it….its same every house hold. I though only my Mr. is like that…….well now feels better….ha….ha…..ha
Lots of Love.
Urvi.
Good Evening Amitji,
I will let you sleep in peace, have a restful night and see you tomorrow. I cannot sleep much at the moment due to stress of work and other things, added to which I failed to meet you again on your visit to London.
Any cure for a fan who misses his hero every time he comes to London, leaving me down, down, down.
Take Care.

Why do you guys turn into cavemen when watching a bunch of men kicking a leather bag about a strip of land ?!?!?! Get over it man! They tell you the score at the end of the game, why the need to spend 90 minutes watching it on TV..?!
Though I don’t mind the World Cup…hehehe..

Dear Amitji,
First of all CONGRATULATIONS to Abhishek, and he looks awesome….loved his picture…too cute and handsome…..

Sometimes i get irritated when my husband ignores us becoz of cricket at that time i really hate Cricket though i know its nothing to do with any sport as everyone has its own likes as when i am reading your blog and if someone disturbs me i get aanoyed too…. so usually i try and read ur blog late night orwhen no one to disturb…..

Shams…next year soccer world cup….you know where…hopefully no exams and assignments ……. make a plan will ya….and don’t tell me things are bad…..
Dear Amitji,
Abhishek looks soooo good - he really has your charisma and as an actor has progressed so much over the years - very proud of him. May he continue to prosper always
Even I often wonder how you will spend ‘retirement’. I just cannot imagine you retiring as you love being an actor so much. I guess one day you’ll put your acting career on the side and by then you’ll have worked out how to spend your days. Maybe you’ll be busy with a new addition to the family (another precious grandchild). Hope so but whatever you do I wish you the best and don’t forget that your EF will always be here to give you company.
When you mentioned about watching sports, it reminded me of a saying that I read on a T-shirt for father’s day - the caption said ‘ Not now, I’m watching the game’ !
Have a great day tomorrow and just wanted to share this quote that I came across:
“Family: A social unit where the father is concerned with parking space, the children with outer space, and the mother with closet space.”
Let me add futher to my comments on post of Day 372 and after reading day 373 …though it’ s still a ‘No’ ..:) may be you should test the waters at the time of release of India 24/7 as a build up to it’s release..:) wat say friends..is it ok IDEA!!
and as I read 374 I am being reminded of cleaning my cupborad as well which I have been promising myself each weekend ….thankfully not facing any domestic attacks right now…
and finally wat I have forgotten last time….Congrats Abhi those 2 really amzing campaigns…carry on sirji…
quite late as per IST so gdnite and tc all

Amit ji,
GREAT PHOTO OF ABHISHEK, HE SEEMS TO BE GETTING MORE HANDSOME WTH AGE.
IT’S REASSURING TO KNOW YOU ARE A TYPICAL MAN JUST LIKE MY HUSBAND. A GAME ON TV IS ALWAYS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY OTHER JOB WHICH NEEDS HIS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. I THINK MEN HAVE A DIFFERENT VISION ALTOGETHER OF HOUSEWORK. MEN HAVE THE ABILITY TO PUT UP WITH MESS & DISORGANISATION WHEREAS WOMEN DON’T,EVERYTHING HAS TO BE IN IT’S PLACE. BY THE WAY I ONLY SPEAK FOR THE MAJORITY OF MEN, I KNOW THERE ARE SOME VERY TIDY MEN AROUND!
SWEET DREAMS.
LOTS OF LOVE (as always)

Please talk to my wife and I plead, please convince her that I should be watching game as you described in your blog.

I am staying way out of the man woman debate .
the only thing of late that i noticed in Hindu tradition is that the WOMEN are so much part of the BIRTH process and MEN are part of all the DYING ritual stuff…
PERHAPS BEcause Woman bring in nuturing and love and you have spoken also about the Mothers love, Your dear Mums love.
And MEN find it easier to let go of stuff so perhaps they are the guys allowed at the crematoriums…
Sorry for all this morbid talk…just some personal stuff this past week.

Dear Mr Bachchan
Hilariously cute piece about the TV sports ritual… observed with great and fond curiosity by the female of the species. Cricket I can understand. Tennis absolutely But football really is an alien language I will never learn to speak.
But I don’t think it’s just males who exist in a glorious clutter of books and papers. You should see my place! (That’s an offer you can all too probably refuse - though I do have the most huge collection of Bachchanalia imaginable).
I’m a terrible hoarder - I even print out and keep every single Blog (I know it’s on computer but I still love to read on old fashioned paper).

Most Respected Sir,
Thanks for posting the message just before I was about to sleep. Reading your blog-posts have become addictive, before sleeping !!
AB Jr looks fab, in his new look.
The media have got their answer when they realised that they were being shown the fingers, and very rightly so !!
Rochelle is so lucky to have her name penned down by your majesty in the post. Great of you to do that !
Although nothing to do directly with your post, I’m attaching below, a worthy article on women from The Sunday Times, London, dated March 01, 2009. Hope you get time to read it.

Your starter for 10: why don’t we like clever women any more?
by India Knight
It must have been a tough few days for Gail Trimble, the shy, square, brainy 26-year-old classicist from Corpus Christi College, Oxford, who led her team to victory in the final of University Challenge last week. In previous weeks she had scored 825 of her team’s 1,235 points.
Trimble has variously been described as “smug”, “brain-rupturingly irritating”, “an annoying bitch” and “a horse-toothed snob”, though some bloggers and commentators found her “sexy” (phew! That’s all right, then). The smuggery and so on were apparently betrayed by the tilt of her head; she was also judged to be terribly patronising because she sometimes said “well done” to her team-mates.
Several pro-Trimble observers asked themselves whether Gail was “the female Stephen Fry”. She isn’t – Stephen Fry’s giant brain comes served up with a giant helping of wit – but the comment tells you all you need to know about the scarcity of clever women in the public eye: apparently there doesn’t exist another woman alive to compare Trimble to, though a couple of people said that she was maybe a bit like Joan Bakewell. Nice try, but only in the sense that both have breasts.
For the past few months I’ve been having a discussion with an old friend who is moving back to London from abroad and is wondering where to send his daughters to school. The daughters, being clever, have sat a load of exams and have been offered an embarrassment of places at a dazzling array of different schools.
My friend, not unreasonably, wants to send his perky, intelligent daughters to good schools that encourage their intellects and don’t turn them into mini-Wags, teenage shopping addicts or druggy party girls. Basically, I think he’d quite like a school where the majority of girls were Gail Trimbles, with a few nonGails scattered about for jollity.
It turns out that when you trot through a school these days, the Gails are thin on the ground – not because they don’t exist, but because braininess is no longer considered much of a female virtue or even an asset. So they’ve been tucked away. Whereas once the Gails were brandished with pride – we have Gails! Send your child here! – now the Gails don’t show you round your child’s potential new school unless they also have legs up to their armpits and a boyfriend in a band. In which case, they aren’t Gails. Gailage per se isn’t enough – it’s considered off-putting. Why?
As it happens, I went to a school stuffed with Gails. None of us thought she was a Gail – we just thought that we were reasonably clever, and that being reasonably clever was a good thing.
Well, I say “we” – I got myself chucked out because the whole “too much eye make-up/all-night parties” thing suddenly became extremely alluring. Up until six months before that point, though, I really liked working and being good at things. I liked being rewarded for having done well, and I felt bad if I did poorly – not bad as in “my overambitious parents will beat me and lock me in the cellar”, but bad as in “I cocked that up – how annoying”.
Everyone I knew felt the same way: the acquisition of knowledge wasn’t regarded as naff or nerdy; being clever was seen as cool, and being thick as embarrassing. There may have been a few swots, but swots are part of life: nobody lined them up to laugh at them or call them names. Actually, that’s not entirely true, I must guiltily confess. At university we called them NatScis (students doing natural sciences) and Mathmos (mathematicians). The NatScis and especially the Mathmos are the only people I know today not losing their jobs.
It feels an incredibly off-the-pace thing to say – again, why? – but I still think the way I thought at school: clever people interest me lots; thick people, less. I don’t mind that they’re thick – they often have other marvellous, life-enhancing attributes that compensate. I just don’t want to stay up all night chatting to them. And I value intelligence above looks, both in men and in women. If someone can talk entrancingly, I don’t really care what they look like: their appearance is utterly irrelevant (personal hygiene is another matter – clever, quite ugly men, please note).
The difference between my school days and my older children’s is that somewhere in the intervening 30 years, being seen to be clever has become a shameful thing, a source of finger-pointing hilarity – especially if you are female, though not exclusively: somebody on Twitter (source of all wisdom) last week was telling me, apropos of Gail, that their super-brainy son was routinely beaten up at school, to the point of broken bones. He’s off to Cambridge, and girls have discovered him, so he’s happy now. But really – what a childhood: abused because you get excited by knowledge.
That people are threatened by clever women has always been a given, because there is no end to what people will choose to feel chippy about. But whereas women used to resist – whether by wearing dungarees or 1980s power suits – they now by and large concede, and go out of their way to conceal their cleverness, or to hitch it to something manageably female, such as clothes or make-up or having a baby (“I was quite clever, but then I had a baby and now I’m amazingly stupid! My brain has turned to absolute mush! Ha ha ha!”).
The Gails, in their serviceable frocks and flat shoes and scrubbed faces, with their specs and old-fashioned hair (undyed, unhighlighted; just, you know, hair), are all but invisible. No wonder there’s such a furore when one has the temerity to pop up on primetime television.
It turns out Gail has been asked to do a shoot for Nuts magazine, the tits-out, cor-darlin-don’t-mind-if-I-do magazine for men who, one gets the impression, don’t perhaps have much sex in real life. She turned it down. There will be many further offers: magazines, newspapers and television programmes will be queuing up to give Gail a “makeover”, to make her “sexier”, “hotter”, “trendier” – all of which are euphemisms for “less obviously brainy”. I really hope she manages to resist all offers and just quietly gets on with her doctorate.
As anyone vaguely observant might have noticed, Gails are on the up. Girls who can write computer code are the future. All hail the Gail!
Dear Sir,
Abhishek looks like a western star in this picture….too handsome…!!
By the way…..which watch he is wearing in this picture ?

Hi Amitji!!!
Really a hilarious description of a typical male sportslover. It remembered me of my mother asking me “What’s so special in that match that you have gone crazy for watching it,I just can’t understand.”;Well, let’s leave the females with “Who wore what type of dress ” and ” Who said what”?Let’s cheer once again for Mumbai Indians.Hurrah!!!!!!!!!
(Have a lot to say to you Mr. Bachchan but may be sometime later. For now,I just wanna say that Your name itself is an adjective and I just love you not only because you are a once-in-a-thousand-years actor but because you are a wonderful human being)

The pentagonal love story is executed in such an amazing manner that never has been done again….intense and blockbuster where you and secondly Amjad Khan steal the show.
Although you will never even comment which i know; i am always curious about the strength of your camaraderie and screen strength between Rekha ji in every movie you have acted together like Muqaddar ka sikandar, do anjaane, Suhaag, Mr. Natwarlal….for e.g in M Ka S, it’s too intense and let’s say great although too short….i notice her acting is dramatically enhanced in your presence. haven’t understood why…Will you ever say how she was during shootings..
Now please don’t make my post disappear…
thanks,
Kedar Ghimire,

Dear Jaya-ji! I am with you!! (Sorry AB, sorry my angel). But I am only a typical woman and I really hate men’s disorderliness and I don’t like cricket…
Sir, you wrote: “And I wonder when I shall be too old for work, how my days would be spent. […]. I need to develop some skills. Play an instrument, learn a language.” Ohh so nice and funny! Haha! Deepak T., see guy! It seems, Amit-ji have attentively written your project about computer class for him!! (Day 369, 211).
It is for Renate.
Dear, thank you very much for your reply about “War and Peace”. You are absolutely right, the translation means ALL! Without good translation no chance even for a masterpiece! You know I first read WaP, when I was 14 years. Three magic days! And when I finished and closed last page of the novel… tears rolled down. I felt myself unhappy because I had to part with dear heroes (Natasha Rostova, Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, Count Pierre Bezukhov etc). As far as I know, Mahatma Gandhi respected very much Tolstoy and absolutely accepted its doctrine about a nonviolence. And great R. Tagor wrote the well-known novel “The Home and the World”under impression of Tolstoy’s War and peace… By the way I can read in German. My favorite writer is Hermann Hesse. Especially his novels “Siddhartha” and “Das Glasperlenspiel”. O mein Gott! I have forgotten the genius W. Goethe!! I’ve read Faust many times! Faust – only in German! All translations were pale shades of this masterpiece! Also, meine liebe Renate, noch einmal vielen Dank und bis bald!
Good night and sweet dreams for AB and all EF…

Ohhh… Sorry… I made a mistake.
“Haha! Deepak T., see guy! It seems, Amit-ji have attentively READ (not “written”) your project about computer class for him!! (Day 369, 211).”

Amitji,
It is disturbing not to see the website of ABCL. Even if a company earns 10 Rs a day has a website. IPL teams, state govt, some of the celebreties have there own website as it is not cost more than 100 Rs/month to maintain a website, so please create a own website like ABCL.com for ABCL
Dear Mr. Bachchan, you have started a new movement here . The picture of the four constables is priceless.About time for Indians to not take themselves so seriously and dabble in some irreverence.
Best Wishes.
Hi Big B,
I had written a very long post then I deleted it and wrote this instead… too bad!

Dear Amitji,
GREAT pic of Abhishek - coooool dude!
It seems every other day is a National holiday in India!!! I thought you were returning to the shooting for ‘Paa’??
Make the most of your time to chill and enjoy the sports.
About time I received a response pleeease!?
Good night God Bless.
Love and best wishes

‘m back again, now on the train on my way to hopefully seeing Stalin’s favorite film ‘Volga Volga’ at Lincoln Center on May Day which isn’t a holiday here.
That’s a great picture of Abhishek looking like a schoolboy in those glasses.
I think you should repeat to yourself over and over “I’m getting better every day in getting closer to seriously learning my new skill”. That might get you going.( So does this mean that in another month you have no project in the works?)
Speaking of monotonous, I’m sure you are tired by now of hearing me rant about your gender stereotypes. Of course this time assuming that all women care about dresses to social do’s and their make-up. And then the male sports thing. I won’t bore you with my predictable response. When we used to watch Mets or football Giants games as a family, if my mother or anyone else came out of the kitchen to watch, and something bad happened for our team, we would yell at that family member to stay there and not come in again because their placement magically affected the game on TV. If it was dinner time during a game, we would leave the TV on so we could hear it and when anything dramatic happened we would all get up, watch it, and then return. Replays came in handy then.
I hope you are back at work to stop the monotony.
Love,
Rochelle
Amitji,

hello sunshine.i am back after 2 days,as i was unexpectedly called off on my 3rd night of work, i immediately jumped off the bed to read the blog.it is so hard to be away from it for a long time.it is so funny ,i can imagine you cleaning your cupboard. i call my husbands and daughters cupboards “cobra”.i am not a cricket fan at all but witness all that you have written so often at my home.hilarious description indeed but so true.i bumped in to these words while browsing thru the net last night “mitti ka tan, masti ka man,kshan-bhar jivan, mera parichay.”it said that was how your father used to introduce himself.is that true?so when are you going to explain those lines from your dads poem which goes with your pic?i know hindi but bengali being my mother tongue hold on hindi is not so strong, specially when it comes to literature.hope to hear more on this very soon.bi love you always.take care.pradipta.
Hi,

Mixed emotions came to my mind reading through your last two posts. The news about Prakash Mehra was most disturbing, since the movies you named have been part of my generation’s social/ cultural upbringing. Your description about Dhoni’s non-response to your messages gave some good laugh though. One is sure he’ll rush to mark his presence in your class, the moment he learns about his own blunder. As regards to the middle finger raising, showing a Congress like PUNJAA (hand) in reverse mode would have done it without causing Jayaji’s burst of laughter…lol.
A very smart picture of Abhishek and as far as husbands are concerned I have the best one. He is very methodical. For example the sink is so clean that you can see your own face. It is nearly 11.45 pm and he is cleaning the tea cups in the motor home. he does not like cricket. Thank god as I do not either. i am one of the most LUCKY ones. And I tel you everyone in my family and friends are very jealous for the fact that he is the PERFECT husband. Anyway bye as sister in law is dying to brush her teeth and go to the loo. BYE. Pranams to you and all the EF.
Hello Amitabhji and Jayaji,
Nice picture of Abhishek.

Hey Sir ,
You are a brilliant writer ! I love your posts. The eloquence in your expression of simple thoughts makes this reading so much fun.
Abhishek’s look is so coooooooooool. This is the first time I liked him without the stuble. (I don’t know if the spelling of ’stuble’ is right, now that I have written it , plz bear with me ).

My dearest Amitji.! Such magnificent photo Abhishek.! Handsome and majestic! Once again my congratulations to your son!!
You enjoy rest, my dear. Use it to the full, after all you so seldom manage to stay with a family. Enjoy admired views of sports. I perfectly understand you in this question, Amitji:) And let anybody and anything to you will not prevent. Take care and have a rest, my angel. To Learn to play the tool or to study language you will be in time. You are still necessary to us that we could contemplate you in a cinema and consequently you should not while to think of an old age and an infirmity. You are magnificent and young always! Bless you god, my prayers with you. My attachment and love to you and all your family. With sincere warmth and love. Yours devoted Lyudmila.
I watched your movie “Naseeb” once again after many many many years. I was in primary school when the movie was first release. We stood in the line for over 4 hours to buy the tickets (Buying the tickets in ‘black’ was not an option for us - spending parents hard earned money on such things can never be justified ). We got the seats in the first few rows ( my neck was hurting by the end of the movie by looking ‘up’ ! )
The movie was great - all the efforts we had made to get the tickets were justified. After many year .. the movie is still ‘great’ !
What are your memories from the making of this movie?
Dearest Amitji, great post. Very interesting observations but may the day never come when YOU don’t have work! What would we watch if u stopped making movies??? Abhishek looks dashing, he’s a chip of the old block for sure! As for the media they just cant get enough of u! All the best Ramona
Hi Sir,
The voting pictures contained their own sense of humor. What you write about men and sports is true. Watching a game, all that is on your mind is victory and until victory is not accomplished the mind and heart is not at peace. Sir, I have been trying to ask you about the following and have posted it a number of times, but never got a reply. I will try again. I was wondering what advice you would extend forward to those not living in India, who wish to enter the Indian film fraternity, but have no contacts or links. What they do have is hard work, determination and talent.
P.S. I am not from the media! Ha!
Sunny

I don’t for a nano-second think Mr Bachchan is running short of projects, so I fear the cupboard tidying will have to wait!

I like that quote from Bruce Lee, but I want to ask you what has been your Motivation throughout your life to keep acting. You know, how did you feel motivated to do this everyday, every week, every year etc. After all, this is a job and don’t tell me that you love your job, because no one can love there job forever. There are bound to be moments where you are completely disillusioned about acting.
ahhhh, so gud to know you are typical man material ;)……u shd definitely start spending some time on hobby….btw wat are ur hobbies?
U know wat u pic of ballot with that finger stands out among rest becoz luk at ur face….its wide open

I completely luved that pic….
Abhi’s pic is gud too….

I forgot to mention about my son. Now he is a different character. When he watches his match you are not allowed to enter the lounge or ask him if he wants to eat, otherwise you are in big trouble!!! We have a rule. When his match is on, we stay away and the food is all ready in the kitchen. If he feels like it he will come in and get it. The fun is when the his team Arsenal scores. WOW the noise and shouting and clapping. Thank God the house is a detached property. I don’t know what would the neighbors think of us!!!! I miss him terribly as he is studying abroad. I would not be seeing him till june now. Thank god you can speak to him on the phone. And I hope he gets through this year.
Congratulations to Abhishekh. Keep up the good work. God bless him. Pranams to you and your family and the EF.
All the people look very funny showing their middle fingers specially the policemen!!!!
My Dear Mr.Bachchan,how are you?
Hansome Abhishek….a born star…God bless him!
Some of us (women) enjoy watching cricket too, since i had time ,i watched
all the games(T20) today.
Have a great weekend!
My love and prayers always…for you and your entire family and all EF.
Saroj.
SIr - I know what you mean and generally this is true in most families. We are a family of four, my wife, 2 boys and I and on some days she will join us 3 boys to watch football or cricket if she is on top of her work. It is great fun when we make time to watch a great game together and then ofcourse discuss and argue the ‘what if’ scenarios.
Abhishek looks great in the picture.
Enjoy your few days of not doing much and being with your family. I doubt if you will ever be idle…..I am sure you will always have interesting projects to occupy yourself with.
Best Wishes and Regards,
Rajesh
Its silly for people who are in the Public eye to gripe about the media and its intrusions. The entire Bachchan family dresses up (colour co-ordinated by the way) expecting the media present to take their pictures to show what model citizens they are. Abhishek Bachchan wears a banal message t-shirt(popular among 16 year olds and movie stars only) because why talk or make your point when a t-shirt can do it for you(and since when are movie stars more eloquent or thought provoking than a t-shirt). You get the media and the press coverage you deserve.
Dear Amitji,
Thank you for inviting our opinion on the proposal to make print media use your blogs for the benefit of their readers. While it is very gracious of you to give us the opportunity to advise you on the subject, it would be overrating our competence to contribute to your decision on the delicate issue. However, respecting your confidence imposed in your contributors, I feel privileged to put in my feed back on the subject, which may be useful while you make up your mind.
As old media races to catch up with the Web and figure out how to successfully monetize print content online, some newspapers are taking a drastically different approach: web to print. In cities across the US and some European countries, they are aggregating popular blog posts, specially by celebrities, to be printed prominently in newspapers to attract more advertisements. The hope is that the hype content will attract more advertisers who can reach out to their increased target audience. The papers have already lined up a number of fashion-based businesses for its debut. Some bloggers — without betraying a hint of irony — have denied the papers of the right to republish their posts, but the overall response has been positive. What blogger or photographer would turn down an offer for more exposure, especially in the confines of a luxurious printed page?
“We’re not necessarily looking for the people who have a readership, we’re looking for compelling content in a variety of areas,” said an editor of a prominent paper.“The person who’s a celebrity, an industry expert, the person who worked for a campaign and is blogging about it, the person who has some insight into our financial system.” He admits The printed blog is an experiment for now, but he is optimistic in its success and with the low production costs it isn’t much of a risk. With old media struggling to stay afloat, any experimentation with new business models is better than doing nothing. Newspapers need to be more forward thinking by incorporating bloggers / citizen reporters into the mix. With staffs getting cut you need to get fresh content somewhere!
While some experts are predicting that archaic forms of media, like newspapers, magazines and other print publications will fade away; the papers printing blogs are confident that new and old media will be able to collide and reach a greater number of people. There has been some interesting discussion recently about the fate of print media. While no one can say for sure that newspapers and print media will die, one inarguable point is that they are definitely bleeding. Is there a way to stop the bleeding? This is an issue we’re going to continue to watch closely. It’s always difficult to say goodbye to products, but it is important that we focus on products that can benefit the most people and solve the most important problems.
According to a study conducted by a media research analysis firm, the printing of blogs in national magazine and newspaper publication has increased more than 16-fold over the last five years. This stunning growth in blogger influence magnifies the importance of employing common sense when contacting bloggers. Knowing the blogger and his/her focus is the critical element in a successful blog relations campaign. While many blogs are highly visible in their own right, the growing influence with the mainstream media elevates their importance.
The newspaper business is dying. Revenues were down even when economic times were stable. Advertisers have moved on to TV, Radio, and the internet to find their audiences. Even established paper are gasping, and their survival is uncertain. Many people put down the papers and turned to the internet to voice their opinions on the sorry state of the print media; and perhaps, more importantly, to find prose worth reading. To a large extent they were rewarded. Good, great writing can be found for free, and outside the confines of newsprint. With all this great writing out there, doesn’t it seem like the current purpose of the newspaper has been supplanted? On a broader scale the question among bloggers persists, “do we need the newspapers to begin with?” Throughout the world local media outlets are attempting to adapt to the changing economic environment. The papers have learned they have to be streamlined, focused, and efficient to not just draw an audience, but to break even. Whether they are successful or not will determine the written “face” of local coverage for the foreseeable future.
Bloggers will find they can no longer hurl stones at the print media; it’s no longer there. We’re not counter culture anymore. We’re mainstream. But this is what many have fought for. Respect and relevance. It’s closer than you think. The era of online journalism is just started and this is the time of the greatest vitality of the medium. It will, as a matter of course, stratify and coalesce into a more formal arrangement that will replace the one we are seeing pass. It’s not that this is better or worse, it just is – no matter how difficult it is for the various actors in the drama. The newspaper isn’t dead, and the blog hasn’t won. They’re just learning how to work hand in hand to provide society with the most effective, efficient means of one of our most basic needs: information.
With regards and thanks for putting Abhishek’s photo on this blogpost - he looks stunningly handsome.
Tilak Rishi (USA)
Wow! Abhishek looks great as usual, but even more so in this picture. I am glad you had a relatively relaxing day. Now that it is springtime, I love to spend the better part of my morning in the garden, tending to plants and enjoying the birds at the birdfeeder. the squirrel trying to get the better of everyone.
It is both relaxing and time to detox from the world in general.
Take care!
lots of love
Dear Amitji,
I do agree with you on the sports matter- yes, we like to watch with great concentration and talk about it after the game is over!! If our favorite team wins, we are delighted. If we loose, then we do not like to talk, nor we like to be poked for any thing else!
AB Jr looks really handsome in that pic. Congrats to him for the award.
yes, I see all great dignitaries and politicians have their middle finger in the air- but looks odd, especially when in western world, it is a “bad’ sign. ANyway, will see the result of the election.

Hi Anat Magen
You are welcome!
Just one day at a time.
Love…Saroj.
Hello Sir,
Now that, your post is all mixed up, which day is which…my comments are same..the previous was for day before…this is for may 1.:)
yes, chelsea should reach final again, in my view..they are in good form after Hiddink.
Yes, men are men….I don’t understand this concept of getting bad reviews on disorderness. Women always think they are treated unfair. But what they don’t realise is they just don’t want equal; they want more….respect, love, first everywhere, admiration…….we are cool- we don’t fight grabbing hair of others…we are more silent beasts….i guess…no offence to any woman by the way….
It feels so good to write, although we are not face to face..because you are a quite active and up-to-date person talking about daily lives…:) nice…
Best,

Dear Amitji,
I see a lot of changes in the blog- is it possible you can respond to many rather than few- by just even clicking and even a short response will make our day!! May be the moblog way if possible. Will love to hear from you in this matter.

Dear Mr. Amitabh Bachchan,
I know you get this a lot, but I am your fan and always keep up with the latest news about you and your movies. I enjoy watching all of your past movies. I look up to you as inspiration and I respect you alot. I feel that you are an amazing actor because you are so versatile with your roles from comedy, romantic, action and emotional, etc. I read your blog everyday! My favorite one has been the one you wrote about the fern and the bamboo tree which was really inspirational. Sometimes it is hard to believe that you could possibly be reading this. Oh yeah the idea about sticking out your middle finger after an election was quite interesting to watch because in the United States it means something totally opposite. I agree that people’s cultures are different and one thing in one place could mean another in another place. If you take the time to read this I would really appreciate it! Thank you. I can’t wait to watch your upcoming movies!
Sarita.. thank you for coming on board… love
Whatever you wrote is absolutely true sir. Fortunately my wife is as enthusiastic as me when it comes to Cricket and Tennis. We both cheer together.
On the media, making the issue of middle finger, I think it is a complete waste of public time and I think you don’t need to respond to each and every allegation from media. We love you and we know what was your and other celebrities’ intention.
I am so happily jealous about Rochelle that she gets a spot in your writings frequently, lucky her. Would love to meet you one day Sir. We are die hard fans of yours.
Love you a ton.
Take care,

Reg: DAY 372 : “There has been talk among certain media of wanting to carry my blog in their paper”.
My vote is “No”. If the paper want to carry your blog and you allow them to, that is fine by us. But they should not have “exclusively” rights to your blog. I came to know about your blog because a TV channel covered the launch and have been an avid reader since. I must say that reading your blogs ( and that of Ramu, Aamir n others) gives us your - Read “Your” views and not that of the Newspaper or the Journo and that I think is what all of us WANT - your views, your thoughts in your own words. Handing your blog over to a Newspaper groups could be just like the olden days when you gave an interview and the newspaper printed what ever they wanted ( to sell). I still feel that people should turn on the computer, read the blog online and interact with you directly via comments and feedbacks. This is where you will get the value.
Indeed a great shot of Abhishek!
Yes one journalist, Anand Soondas, is trying his best to pin you and the family down on the one finger demonstration. He does acknowledge that there were others but a small mention so that he totally justifies his article. Your photos shows so many who did the same thing. Well done to all who were asked to show their voting finger. I would have done the same and let others take to me task for such an act if they feel offended.
Now your narration on the male predominance of the remote control and the occupied seats in the lounge or family room when a sports in on is totally true. How we behave with others when watching our favourite sports. Yes I watch cricket and Aussie rules football but not English Football as you do. Yes I do watch Soccer when Australia is playing a decider for the world cup. And during world cup I only watch Germany or Australia playing.
There are lots of things we all plan in our life that we will learn or accomplish before such and such a time. It gets put on the back-burner and others take the lead.
One day I plan to learn how to play a piano or Tabla or harmonica.
Great to hear that your Mumbai Indians did well.
My Rajasthan Royals have lost a match and that is not good. I have to speak to Shane Warne if he loses the next few games and does not make the finals!
Regards to you and the Bachan family.
Namaste!

That is a nice picture of Abhishek…the new hairstyle suits him well. Is it Ash’s recommendation, or his own choice? Congrats to him for the reward.
I do not think you would be out of work ever. You would never let yourself be out of work I guess. And then the fellow countrymen/women, would they ever let you sit idle for long? I doubt it. You being a very good multitasker, and an expert at time management. And as long as you have desire to be active in film projects being offered I think you do not have time to persue other arts.
Although you do showed us your great writing skill through this blog.
And you have enthusiasm for variety of subjects, an eager learner regardless of age factor.
Surely a day would come when something would lead you to take lessons for a musical instrument or a new language as you have been wishing for. One never knows…right? That could happen when you reduce some load off the heavy schedules everyday.
Looks like Jayaji has been extremely generous to you, putting up with all your tantrums(!!) - “Nakhras’ - just as a mother does for her child!! You seem to be taking her for granted…aren’t you ? Enjoy your time and thank Almighty for blessing you with a wife like her!

The quote from Bruce Lee is excellent. Reminded me of the movie Chandni Chowk to China in which the chinese trainer tells something similar to this quote to Akshay kumar.

Reg: DAY 373 : “But in all fairness I must needs give them an audience to assess what they have in store for me. Would you not ?”
Well this is the Web 2.0 World and the idea of a blog is to post when you want to. The best part of it is , that its for all to read and to refer ( trackback), comment , get interactive etc. I write tech blogs. They are not exclusive to a publication, so all publications can refer to it . That I think is really the value of Web 2.0.
Abhi looks great. Love his stylish getup and hair. Keep it up.
Respected Mr Bachchan,
1stly a huge thanx for that gorgeous photo of Abhishek. Doesn’t he look delicious, even with those owlish glares?!!
2ndly celebs may have ‘shown their finger’ after voting but most of Mumbai seems to have shown the politicians their finger by not voting. They apparently could not find any lesser evil to choose from those on their ballot paper!
3rdly I am very much a typical woman. I mean, the end results of any encounter are interesting, but to sit through an entire match!! And then to subject it to dissection on the dining table!! But husband and now giving him company, son, do just that. My sole contributions to the conversation being— please eat your food darling, its getting cold—- I’m getting up from the table right now—- (am quickly bullied back into my chair) —- hmm… really… yawn…. (And then continue reading my book under the table)
But you know what I would enjoy about any interesting sporting encounter?! To be a fly on the wall in Prateeksha / Jalsa and watch you (and, of course, Abhi baby) lying on the floor or jumping on the sofa and hear in to your analyses. With Abhi around, they have to be worth a hoot!!
4thly you talking about cupboards to be cleaned, bookshelves to be arranged, —- it appears as though you have got an earful from Jayaji!! Hehehe!! How I adore the lady!!
With warm regards to you Sir and loads of love to Abhi,
Mira.
My dearest Mr Bachchan…
Late replying again. No excuse other than the fact that I was busy watching, “U Me Aur Hum”. Such a moving movie, not so much for the acting but the plot was good, so sad. Hence a weepy film…and I like weepy films. But movie watched aside…moving on to you…and blog!
Found it funny as to how many were caught making the, “middle ginger gesture”, and including the dignitaries! Just as well, then the media could not fault you or blame you for the source of that, can they? lol
I simply love that photo of Abhishek and the signature glasses, though he may have meant it as a joke, looks cool on him. And congrats to him for getting the reward. Though am not sure what that Bruce Lee quote above his pic is for??
I am not at all surprise you found your non working day monotonous. It must be hard to keep still when you are so use to have the adrenalin pumping due to a very busy schedule. How funny that you see a month ahead of you when IPL will be finished and you won’t have anything to entertain you! How bout going for that degree, maybe not on campus in Cambridge but OU perhaps?? At least it’s flexible study time? But seriously if you have always wanted to learn another language then why not start in a month time when IPL is over? Good as any other time?? Only could you learn a language that can make that baritone voice even more…ahem…err…dare I say it?…ok…even more sexier!! hahaha!! French?? Naah…too cliche.
I must admit I hate clutter and if there are too much clutter around me I find it difficult to function mentally. And yes men do have order in their disorder, and to a woman/wife this is simply called “A MESS!!”. See my scream of protest there? And yes, I am likely to be the one to hit on the head…err…not true actually…highly unlikely I would do that…but I can promise you that after watching your game that room you use with the popcorn and coke and all that mess made, will be spotless!! And I certainly would not be the one cleaning it. Nor would I allow the helpers to do it, if there was some. So does not require a genius to figure out who’s going to end up doing it, does it? hehehe. But I don’t actually mind sitting down watching a game now and then and funnily enough I am quite happy to serve and provide the necessary snacks all through a game, as long as everything is cleaned up after.
You have to love the way you describe yourself watching a game, the remote, the popcorn, no phone call, the screams, lying on the floor in despair! hahaha! Just a normal kinda guy obsess with watching his fav sports. Aw, endearing really. But why is it the when your team lose a game…err…no better way of describing it but…why do men resort to acting like sulking babies?? lol And so moody if they have lost?? Ufff!!
Well win or lose…I’ll not disturb you now…so good morning and hope you had a good sleep. Well it is 6am your time. And goodnight to me.
Love…
Rose x
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
A beautiful picture of Abhiskek, once again Congratulations!
I would like to say, my man and I exchanged the roles! Here I look football (and other kinds of sport) Cricket is in Germany not popular, so I cannot see and nothing say. Friend Abhayas, reports and estimates over the plays are interesting but see would be better it to understand.
My man cannot understand that I look these football plays and also with enthusiasm for a team, it holds me then for a little crazy, since I am not accessible in the time.
But neighbors and I leave us the fun not take. And we meet us again,
to the game Chelsea : Barcelona I will support Chelsea, neighbors more for Barcelona.(2:4) we make this by enthusiasm off. Four men are for Barcelona is funny or.
Hope you can go back to work!!!
best wishes to you and your family
good night
Hope you can go back to work
best wishes to you and your family
love always

the same to you Rochelle
Abhisekh looks great and I think he is getting handsome day by day. Please convey my congrats to him and all of you guys looked great in the polling booth as well.I think i read in one of the renowned newspaper about the middle finger shown by you and how very unlikely of your kind of persona to do that. But anyways, we know the reason and these media people will always have something to fill up their column.I found quite a number of bollywood stars showing their middle finger (the intention being well known to all of us)and it is not only your family. Thanks once again Amitji for writing to us in your blog.Keep it up always. You know that we are quite concerned with the swine flu in this part of the world (now known as H1N1virus)and trying to be as much cautious as possible.

Dear Mr. Bachchan
I think when it comes to Indians and cricket there will be no stereo types and gender roles. I remember the days when we had our mini transistors on in the classroom and listening to it sitting on the last row in the classroom, trying to suppress our glee when Gavaskar hit a 6 or Bedi bowled somebody out. I think sports gets every bodies attention and cleanliness is forgotten, and if they are not into it, women are intelligent enough to know when to keep quite.

BTW..Abhishek looks very handsome…..must be taking after his father!

Mr. Bachchan,
Thanks for the Abhi pic. Abhi looks very cool.

dear sir,
what do we do with people like KASAB, why a trial?
when soldiers die in the line of duty there is no HUMAN RIGHT, no nothing, if a civilian is killed in a crossfire between SF and Millitants, soldiers do face enquires and a civil case. Are we basically a weak state or governed by weak people?
‘Digitus imudicus’. How wonderfully appropriate. It sums up the politicians attitude most of the times. The masses succeeds in returning the compliment once every few years during election time!
Dearest Mr. Bachchan,
Yea, that is really ‘the wonder of wonders’ of the media people didn’t comment upon these photos. but why should they do so, they have already generated the interest of the readers by these photos… mission is done, right?!!
it is really amusing reading about men’s ways and attitudes. Yes, that’s so true… women sometimes have to cope and bear with things, though reluctantly.
I myself don’t mind joining the fun sometimes, though only occasionally, like say in the African cup, or the world cup.
But if it is not that interesting for me, I would impose my own way of having fun, may be by distracting and not complying to their call for ‘don’t disturb’ …that would be an extra fun. Well…men also, sometimes, have to try to cope and bear with the ways of women.
Happy 1st May
I would not imagine you shall one day stop working. But if that day ever comes, you don’t need to worry about how you would spend your time. You will definitely find a way to break life’s monotony at that time. Even many things seem to be awaiting your attention. Planting and taking care of some rare plants is also an option. you had also expressed another desire before, in an earlier post, to give some attention to some interesting books that you have…maybe enjoy reading them on a rocking chair?!!
It is a nice photo for Abhishek…congrats for his recognition, and best of luck for him.
Wow Rochelle…well done.
So nice to be mentioned by Mr. B…it was good you brought it to his attention the missing part of his signature.
Sure Mr.B it is always nice to end your posts with your affectionate words.
Have a peaceful and nice sleep,

Dear Lena,
How you are bringing back memories of times lost in books. Das Glasperlenspiel also has a special story for me. I reread it two years ago after a discussion with a dear friend who said, at our age (50ish, I am reluctant to say) we should be over “that kind of stuff”. I flew back to my bookshelf, devoured it and I am very happy to say, it still evokes the same emotion as it did for the 17-year old and possibly a few mature thoughts in addition.
Love,
Renate
PS Have you ever heard of Werner Bergengruen? He’s from Riga.
Abhi is looking good and healthy. God bless him.
Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
Absolutely cool picture of Abhishek and I like his new style statement..
I am yet to see “Delhi 6 “ and I am looking forward to it.
For the sake of the debate -“come on wives, be honest ”- honestly, I like order and I decorated my house with art of my own and objects of nature and home decor. So, where does the husband’s way of things, which is exactly the way as you described yours, applies !?
Everywhere !! : )
But…, if the husband can make sense in the order of his papers and always finds what he is looking for, I accept the ‘ways of life’… and he goes ‘uncriticized’… more than often ! : )…
Guys will be guys, I guess, - in every way…
On the other hand wives also have a need to be in ‘Do not disturb’ mode at times.
When reading or speaking on the phone or blogging ! , for example…
And in a family the understanding of each other’s often different needs, if provided by both parties, can make life very manageable and even fulfilling.
You used the word ‘hate’ about women’s attitude toward some men traits.
I hardly know what hate is. When I am hurt it feels like pain - never hate. Is it a fault ?…
Or maybe I was not hurt enough ?… Interesting..
*
As you wrote about the time when there will be less work for you, I thought again of your previous post and media proposition. Yes, if there is a necessity, I would definitely check what’s in store. Maybe writing and being published in periodicals will give you also more involvement for the future among other things.
And you have so much to give through your word…
If you decide to learn a language would you choose Russian ? : ) Just kidding..
The other day I wrote about quitting my ‘relationship’ with the TV quite abruptly..
I have to be fair and pay the tribute to this fantastic medium of our times though. If only for the fact that it was always ‘on’ in my house most of my lifetime and after my moving to America I have learned so much about the culture of this country and other countries and cultures and in general about life…
I am surely grateful… But I would like to mention one episode specifically.
When I just arrived in the United States fifteen years ago - it was San Diego where I lived my first couple of years - it felt so different from my home. Like another planet !! Quite shocking. All my life was away, all my friends…Even all the plants growing around were unfamiliar…
I did not have enough English either. So, I could not understand and enjoy the TV.
I switched to International Channel. A commercial break. Suddenly I saw a familiar face..It was you !!
And you said - “You are watching International Channel”…..
It felt like an old friend just greeted me in that all new strange world.. It comforted me, put me at ease..
So, this is my TV story…: )
Have a blessed day of rest or work.. Day of life..
God bless and take care.
My love for you.

morning Sir,
for a change , I am writing in the early hours of the day.
……. and practise makes perfect……..
Thanks for regularly posting a thought for the day. You would be doing humanity a great favour, in educating many people through your blog.
Abhishek looks cool and congrats to him, once again.
Well, a lot has been written by you about the disorderly orderly….. life is smoother…. if every individual , in any relationship …. gives the other adequate space….. but perhaps many dont realise it ( I dont mean this for anyone specific )
May day used to have another connotation prior to the labour day aspect….. and that was kind of romantic ( Thomas Hardy etc. )…. Unfortunately, labour is still not fully aware of it, nor are they getting their dues in appropriate measure….. wish , something could be done by humanity about this.
love and best wishes, and happy weekend
Anita Dhar
Hi Mr. Bachchan
Been reading your blog since day one. I usually do not leave a comment as often as Rochelle but I have read each and every one of them. You write great and its a pleasure either starting one’s day or ending it by reading your blog.
thanks
just one correction Sir,
The ‘Order” is maintained by the wife in the ‘Disorderliness ‘ of the husband.Even God must be thankful there are such orderly women. By the way does Jayaji ,have her blog ?!

I love Abhishek’s new look - he looks dapper! Seems like he enjoyed the finger act the most.
Amit ji,
We , the Sharma family in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada simply loves you.
My Hero Mr Natvarlal,
I am so glad you are enjoying the IPL as much as all of us… WISH it was in INDIA though. Just one point, I have been regularly reading your blog for the last few months, you seem to be watching cricket, soccer in your free time and enjoy it too. However, you don’t seem to be watching many films (minus Chicken a la Carte, Delli6 and of course SM ), neither have you mention any of your family member watching films. I read somewhere you haven’t seen ‘Ghajini’ !!!
Please correct me if I have got it wrong, but if you happen to watch one then please express your thoughts and some special observations which will make it all the very special for us.

TORONTO CANDADA ORIGINALLY FORM INDIA THE GREAT.
Yes Sir, Men are disorderly in doing the things than women. And I do get frequently taken to task because of this. but Men are men…….
Dear Amitji Good Morning. Bot Laveen Tithe Gudguliya…the vote marker on the finger and photographs in all news-papers and media shows our repeat copy paste culture. Original acts missing.
Bruce Lee quote above is very apt. Reminds of Ravi Shastri man of limited perfect strokes. So also Sandeep Patil who had some strokes which reduced the boundry distance travel to a few seconds.
IPL seems to be taking your time and alsu of friend Abhaya Sharma. I am still on sanyas from active TV popcorning. When I see the box I turn back in to another room and relax. The end result of competition is agony and ecstacy. Begaani shaadi me Abdulla Diwana….
Abhishek has definitely given Idea a new push as its brand ambassador. When mobile was not there we did more physical work. Now even bhajiwala gets orders on mobile and home delivers mirchi kotmeer. Customer service at its best.
Rochelle may find this post French and Latin may be you can take interest in some other sports or write about Radio programmes. AIR is still the best and invading by advertisements on every entertainment is almost like ek ke saath dusara free. It seems advertisement ke saath entertainment free may be more apt.
Like your ekaagrata on TV and randomness on a holiday. My May Day went as a sleeping day. May be overdue rest and painful foot. Too much of gobhi achaar and chunda this season. We all have a secret holiday agenda to honour the compulsory government sponsored holidays. Cleaning the cup-board is the last act so also organising the papers. Every search reveals some lost investment getting overdue for encashment. The real pleasure of oldage is residual money coming handy.
There are two important things as age advances:1) When will I retire. 2) What will I do after retirement.
Ladies will have a different view. They want men to be busy otherwise they poke their nose in household chores which till now were never commented upon. Suddenly full time critic is not welcome. A man during the day at home is a liability on woman of the house.
So extra cleaning and tea serving takes away vital resting hours of woman folk. Even the long telephone conversations with their friends are curtailed. Anyway men should always find a day time schedule away from home and not talk of retirement. Otherwise wife will loose her retirement. Cannot retire each day..
Hope the work chases you and we can also have more of blog from locations.
Have a nice day and enjoy another day with renewed vigour.
Regards
Ravi P Malhotra
Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Thanks for the pictures. I love it when you post pictures.
I am glad that you think of cleaning cupboards etc. I hate clutter. I can not function properly till everything is placed in its place. It is easy if everything is organised you dont have to waste time trying to find something and adding the stress.
Take care.

dear amitji,
congrats to abhishek, what a way to describe a man’s attitude when watching his favourite sport, nothing else seems to exist, anyways the middle finger raised with the voting mark is more welcome than the same being raised without any voting mark in our country, the heat is on and one feels that not only one’s residence but even outside –the surroundings should be airconditioned, what’s ur take on this?

As a life long practicioner of the martial arts, I just had to say I loved the quote today from Mr. Bruce Lee. And as a kickboxer, I can say it is a most accurate quote too! Best of luck to your Mumbai Indians.

Respected Amitji,
Abhishek is at his ‘handsome best’.. MOST DESERVING YOUTH ICON!
You were at your ‘laziest best’ in your post sir.. and a typical naughty and childish you has come out so well!! very nice to see that..
Did see in all newspapers about bolly celebs showing their mid finger or even victory sign to show their vote.. no big issue now.. Voting has been done! whichever finger show the authenticity!! does show u all as responsible citizens.. and many out there were a part of the LEAD INDIA intiative.. but many celebs did not vote though even urged others to vote!!
Am happy my home team won (RC, b’lore)… so m elated.. but yet a long way to go..
lots of respects and lots of love

Press follows all your steps so closely.
You are right when you say men are like that only. They dont like anyone coming in front of TV during a match. We waste so many manhours in our lives watching unimportant matches, unimportant goals, sixes. But we feel it is so important.Yesterday i saw the whole Mumbai Indians and Kolkata match thinking that it was so important when my wife was waiting for me to visit our friend.Life is like that.

Amitji,
This is my 1st response.
Am from New Delhi.
God has given you so much and entire world loves you, respects you. Don’t you think that its pay back time for you and need to do everything possible to help needy around you. You would be in a better position to do so due to celebrity status and the love and respect from one and all.
May be am too small to suggest but in my opinion please do think of utilising free time for the help of needy.
Namaste.
Sirji

I’m almost hesitant to return after all this attention but I must tell you about the two films I saw tonight.
I picked “Lyubov Orlova, First Lady of the Soviet Screen” over Duvivier. The first film, “Volga Volga”,was a charming and delightful 1930’s musical comedy with great performances and scenery. The second was ‘Spring’ made in 1947 where Orlova played a dual role, one of them a famous scientist doing experiments with solar energy, which made it seem very modern. Even more than the music for the dancing, what caught my ear was the powerful background music. Since she also plays an actress in the role of the scientist, we get to see the behind the scenes of Soviet filmmaking and their movie sets. And Orlova was just wonderful. This has to be one of my favorite films.
Because I adored these Soviet films so much, it will be harder to miss any, but the Duvivier films at MOMA sound so great also.
And of course since I chose to see the late film too, now I get no sleep.
Thank you for sending us your love.
Goodnight.
Love,
Rochelle
Yeap! Absolutely right on your write on the focus, concentration, business and do not disturb features during a match better still serve me food where I am.. or it can wait..
Oh Brother!
Loved this piece of post on more than several counts.. now what does that mean.. I mean what could be more than several.. It is all right it is just a juxtaposition of agreeing to whatever you had to say.. you represented the male in every one of us quite nicely and absolutely correctly.. adverb qualifying adverb.. does it make interesting or is it grammatically acceptable.. I know it is even if it does not sound too good to the ears..
With due apologies to Jayaji, Savita and many other of the feminine race.. we man behave in our own ways sometimes justifiable and yet at other times not so much.. I can not defend my watching the game.. seeing it over news.. read the newspaper (even if that is all what I read there..) and if possible also get my chance to see the highlights on Sony in the morning.. enough for the woman of the house to get nasty over my behaviour or could I pit it our behaviour..
Abhishek, you look handsome in your new avtar but instead of receiving my compliments you should seek what Aish has to say.. you look like Rani’s (Mukherjee) brother in the picture.. and mind you she is quite a beautiful face.. so treat it as a compliment and a compliment alone.. what an Idea sir ji.. yet should I ask one siple question or rather get my query satisfied.. how much does the success of an ad goes on to add to the sale value.. give a frank opinion boy.. BTW do you father and son spport the same teams or support the opposite sides.. sometimes Amrit would support the same team as me and yet at times thrust same team on to me taking a better performing team as his.. yet his team Kings XI Punjab lost despite a very good cricket dispaly by individuals in Yuvraj and Abdulla.. reason.. Bangalore performed as a unit..
I think I should stop here.. before reading long posts give people headaches.. I myself am sporting some headache which does not tend to leave me for last two three days and warrants me to consult the doctors at the earliest.. I know it is over-viewing at the tube.. lot more working on computers and lack of sleep yet no harm in seeing the doc anyway..
With plenty of Love from all of us to all of you

Namaste Amitji!
First of all, my compliments for the choice of poem that you have made for your blog! The power of language is indeed immeasurable!
I exchanged a formal namaste with you long ago while living in in Chembur during a shooting! I was one of the members of a small crowd in the Trombay Club!
My response to your blog will stand out as am not speaking to you as a fan alone but for an academic purpose!
I am a research student from UK working on Indian aethetics. Mine is an ethnographic study. Would you be willing to participate? Being the son of a great poet as well as a well-read, eloquent and artistic, you will be able to analyse and speak about art experience. Many leading artistes have given me their time. I have no other way to approach you so thought of your blog! I would like to know what it means to an actor to step out of his/her mundane commonplace self-identity and transcend the mundane kind of self-consciousness. Would you be interested in a study of this nature that considers you as a case study, an artist per say? It is a topic of literary criticism. Considering non-dualistic philosophy and art experience. I can give you more details if you would like. I approach you as a fan as well as a scholar. I am interested in knowing you as an actor per se purely for my academic study! We could correspond if you would be willing!
By the way, I read long ago a short story (An Imaginative Woman) by Thomas Hardy in his anthology of short stories, Life’s Little Ironies and thought you must make a film and act as the hero (a poet) in it. It will be a great film and the role will suit your acting talent and personality very well! It is a fascinating story, very unique and I wonder why no one ever made a film on it! Not in English either!
With warm regards,
Victoria

Congratulations to Abhishek for the award.Loved his picture.I had already read this news but congrats to him again.
I think you have well put the habits of men being so careless and ‘do not disturb’ attitude while they are watching some sporting event on TV.My mummy screams a lot while my father has full of mess around himself like newspaper, remote lying here and there etc..
I think men and women are made this way only. They are helpless in their behavioural patterns.
Best regards.
Love, good night,Shub ratri ,Shabba khair and do take a very good care of youself.

Dear Ravi Malhotra Sahab,
What great post very bemusing and even tilting in favour of women.. My wife would always say.. trophy to tumhare hi ghar mein aayeg jaise.. yet I knw I can not do away with Cricket so easily.. aise manmauji ko mushkil hai samjhanaa..
I liked your post.. and maybe I did want to call you up but somehow I could not and don’t hold cricket responsible for that.. We just might visit Pune sometimes as there is no other plan of going anywhere else in the scorching heat.. I will need to find when does my niece returns to Pune.. and when does she gets back to Mysore.. it has to be during that time interval..when she is there..
Nice to have read comments from fellow bloggers like Carla and a couple of others..

Hi
Abhishek’s picture is awesome.
There is one thing I would like to share with you.
Recently a fren of mine , who is an ardent fan of Sharukh ( no offense ) was commenting on Abhishek ( who I think is awesome) and my 8 year old daughter was listening to her and came out with the most outrageous comment , This is how it goes ” Aunty only old people like Sharukh khan ” We were a group of middle aged women who meet on a regular basis and we laughed a lot. I did apologize to my fren and told my daughter she should not be rude. But honestly I enjoyed it.( shh secret)
I really like the way you have bought up your kids.I do not know any of you in person I have seen your family on a lot of shows , the love and respect Abhishek has for not just you and jaya ji but all older folks is amazing. I have two kids a Boy and a Girl. Any tips I could get from you. I would be really thrilled.
Take care and have a healthy day
Radhika
Dear Mr. B.,
Sad is the wife who doesn’t see the point of her husband letting off steam and living as though he’s on a camping trip during sports seasons. My little boy entered this world apparently knowing every statistic in every sport and sports were (and are) pretty much his life. He lights up whenever the subject comes up, in a way he doesn’t respond to any other topic. The hollering that went on when he watched any TV event was apocalyptic.
It’s all part of the male makeup. The sooner it’s accepted, the better for everyone. The wise wives I know find something else for themselves to do and just steer clear of the sports arena in the living room.
Aloha from Hawaii …
Love, Dorothy
Dear Mr. Bachhan,
Abhishek looks GREAT !
He will keep up the family traditions .

hi sir,
ab junior is looking awesome….the new style king of bollywood
Dear Mr B,
What most of the photos depicted the stars and common people showing, is actually what is deserved by our politicians.
I do not like clutter but rest of the details you mentioned are all true. Hate it when during a match or a movie, wifey comes up to ask about what to wear and what is looking good, wonder how I make exceptions when she asks the same question for my little one. Would love to have food in front of the TV and that is what I do most often on holidays and also during the summer excuse being for the cool comfort of the airconditioner.
This is for Fats… she forgot to mention the cheese on the popcorn…lol.

Permission To Simply BeWorking Through Transitions :
The elation we feel when we have learned an important lesson, achieved a goal, or had a big breakthrough can sometimes be met with a period of downtime afterward. During this period of transition, we may feel unsure and not know where to turn next. Many people, during the pause between achievements, begin to wonder what their life is about. These feelings are common and strike everyone from time to time. Human beings are active creatures—we feel best when we are working on a project or vigorously pursuing a goal. But there is nothing inherently wrong with spending a day, a week, or even a month simply existing and not having a plan. Just be. It won’t be long before you embark upon your next voyage of growth and discovery. The quiet lull into we which we fall between ideas, projects, and goals can make life seem empty. After accomplishing one objective, you may want to move immediately on to the next. However, when your next step is unclear, you may feel frustrated, disconnected, or even a mild depression. You may even perceive your lack of forward momentum as an indicator of imminent stagnation. To calm these distressing thoughts, try to accept that if your intent is personal growth, you will continue to grow as an individual whether striving for a specific objective or not. Spending time immersed in life’s rigors and pleasures can be a cathartic experience that gives you the time you need to think about what you have recently gone through and leisurely contemplate what you wish to do next. You may also find that in simply being and going through the motions of everyday life, you reconnect with your priorities in a very organic, unforced way. The mindful transitional pause can take many forms. For some, it can be a period of reflection that helps them understand how their life has unfolded. For others, it can be a period of adjustment, where new values based on recent changes are integrated into daily life. Just because you’re not headed swiftly to a final destination doesn’t mean you should assume that you have lost your drive. The stage between journeys can become a wonderful period of relaxation that prepares you for the path that will soon be revealed to you.

Why Mr.Bachan do men have to be like this- why a “do not disturb” sign when you are watching TV- does the world have to come to a still when these matches are going on or can one like the wonderful ladies “multi-task”- peep at the matches, look into my child’s studies, serve dinner, wash up- etc etc - Oh God the list in never-ending while my husband enjoys the leather sofa.
Where the closet is concerned- if a man get pleasure in messing up his clothes, and not arranging them- I belive no wife should lend him a helping hand- let him daily look through that mess and find his matching tie- then probably(which offcourse i doubt) he will learn his lesson.

Lynette
All I can say after reading this is PLEASE encourage JAYA to write her own blog I and many other wives would love to read it!!!
Dear Amitji,
I would rather say that a JOKE says it all. Myself after voting when I pointed finger.. I felt that well, its a joke or really or politician deserve that when they are not upto their promises. Even i laughed on myself, but I knew lets take this act into a positive form and lets say.. we have pointed fingers to those who dont deserve to be there in our society
Keep witing and wud like to read more..
Greetings from Zuirch,

Dear Amitji
It was indeed a great honor to vote for our country… And was disappointed with the trunout for the vote.. This time i think lot of youth has taken part in this system… Let the most deserving candidate and the party win.

My beloved Mr. Bachchan,
That was a hilarious post. The scene you described while watching sports was definitely not an ambience I would like to have in my living room
:)
:), but it did seem cosy and comfortable, so glad you had fun and relaxed. Whilst you describe the male/female behaviour I have to disagree and say…My husband belongs to a different breed!
Living in Germany Football is “THE” game and humans turn into beasts when it is football season. Football is watched by my husband and myself TOGETHER on one couch sans pop-corn etc and very much enjoyed. Although I must admit that we only watch big leagues or UEFA, World Cup etc. But yes, it is indeed a very peaceful affair between us. I, for my part, avoid asking silly embarassing questions during the game regarding football and rules (guess you understand what I mean) and thus there is no interruption. If I recall, the difference between my husband and myself is:
1) He watches football to enjoy the game with all it’s flavour. A very peaceful man.
:)
:)
Lots of Ooohs and Aaah from me during the game, but since he is so engrossed in the game, I have the liberty to “enjoy”.
2) I watch football and drool over the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Figo and the numerous lovely men football has offered the world!!!
Result is, we have both enjoyed the game in our own ways and peace has prevailed even though the priorities set during the game were totally different.
:)
:)
Cheers to the women of the world who let the “poor” men enjoy that so very important game without letting it escalate into a war-zone!
Love always-Lily D’Penha-Frankfurt-Germany.

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
First time I am posting here.
Had to, with that comment about wives!!!
Good topic.
See… women tend to be multitaskers so we have a hard time understanding that husbands are focused one-task-at-a-time creatures. So when husbands are concentrated on analyzing bowling strategies, we wives can watch the match, comb our hair, eat popcorn and vacuum the room at the same time…
We only get to understand the extent of the male focused mind when we stand in front of the television to show you our new outfit and realize we are invisible. Lol.
However, being focused has many an advantage, and that is why husbands will always be loved… even if wives occasionally hit them on the head with a rolling pin (while they talk on the phone, put on their shoes… ok you get the picture).
On another topic, I of course love your work.
And a note to Rochelle: would we by any chance be neighbours?
Best wishes,
Aline Khan

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
it was with great anticipation that i opened this morning’s newspaper thinking that some or the other media fraternity would rise up in arms regarding the ‘vote confirmation’ finger! Equally amazed to see not a single soul batting even an eyelid! How has this happened? ! Have they just gotten tired of lambasting you for all and sundry reasons?
I could also see Mrs. Bachchan covering her eyes and not offering to ’show the finger’ knowing all too well that it would be grossly misinterpreted! Anyways, it was a good photo op. The Bachchan family looked great together. My compliments and heartfelt wishes that may your family live like this together forever!!
warmest regards (i do know it’s Summer!!)

Hello Sir,
As an Indian we all feel very India especially when elction or Republic Day or Independence Day, but as the day ends, we again fight on religion, caste and ready to hate each other. Being a part of biggest democratic country, still can’t believe how we live and have hate for each other.
I just hope it goes by every election, but rather going, more corruption and and more politics in life comes by. Hope it ends soon before we come to an end.

Dear Sir,
A very SPORTY post this!
Loved the way you describe your, and fellow menfolks’, state of affairs when watching an important sporting event!!!!!!
I think its the same world over! The teams may differ - ManU or Chelsea ; Mumbai Indians or Kings XI Punjab, Australia or South Africa ; and sporting legends may also differ - Sachin or Sachin, Federer or Nadal, Ronaldo or Beckham! But emotions remain the same!
COOL! I like this in men!
Abhishek is looking SOOOOOOPER COOOOL in the pic!
It indeed is a HOT STYLE STATEMENT he’s making!
You’ve shown your ‘middle finger’ to the media….
…. and I’ll show mine on 13th!
They deserve it, don’t they!
And Rochelle also deserves something - a mention by YOU!
Well Done, Sir! And Congratulations, Rochelle!

Hi Ravindra,
Tumhara question apni jagah theek h but ye to socho ki Amitabh bachhan ko sabhi chahte h ..par vo sabse to nahi mil sakte h…
Vo bahut bhale aadmi h…..
Ok, this wife is going to be honest - yes, I’d love for him to sort his papers, it would give me so mush more storage space (women and storage - a weird connection there!) But will he do it? Not sure. So I don’t nag the husband anymore (he, of course, would disagree) but it’s true. I don’t.
As about men and games - well, you’re bang on Mr. Bachchan, the husband is right out of the book in this case. He does not get the time though these days (what with work and well, more work - gotta keep the home fires burning and pay the wife’s card bills!) ,so this wife actually feels bad about that..
What I love about your post today is that I could relate so well with all you said, that it seemed amusing to me that no matter who one is - the inimitable big B, or the husband - some issues are global! You seemed so “real life” (for lack of a better phrase) that it left a smile on my face.
Ok now for the IPl…

Amitji
It was appropriate gesture, fingers to the oppressors. Exercise your right. Nice pics !!!!
Dear Mr. Bachan,
Like millions of Indians of last couple of generations, I have grown up watching your movies. I think it doesn’t go with your image & age, especially with your wife & daughter in law to show the suggestive double meaning middle finger (I am talking about latest pics about elections).
Millions of Indians respect & are proud of you and would like to see our most beloved perhaps the greatest superstar ever from India, age gracefully & get more dignified with age and not vice versa!
Dear Amitabh Bachchan, I just want to say I miss very much Subhash Kaura and Deepak T. here on the blog! Where are you guys?? Blog needs you both and your fabulous deep wise comments! I ask for came BACK! Come on, guys! I am sure mr. AB have noticed your absence…
LENA from RUSSIA, P.
Dear Amitji
Having lived in the ME and SE Asia for a long while I was unaware of your blog. As soon as I heard about it…..thought would write a few lines expressing my gratitude for the inspiration I have gained from your portrayals of the protagonist in various forms.
Having followed your films right from college days, it was always very inspiring to emulate your attitude of succeeding at any cost…….although scripted and directed….the imagery and intensity of your portrayals were etched…..and I personally drew a lot of strength and conviction to succeed in my life.
An actor is remembered for his roles………..but I am sure that, for many like me…….your roles were inspirational and instrumental in moulding our approach to the vagouries of life!!!!
Thank you Amitji……..and here is wishing you a long , healthy , happy and peaceful life so that you may continue to inspire the present….and the future.
With Warm Regards

Hello Amitji,
Yes, Abhishek looks very nice in his new image - good on him. There is certainly something about men in suits with white shirt and no tie. They just look the part it seems.
Like you and many other men in this world, disturbance shall not be tolerated when watching our sports. Full focus is required otherwise our team will lose, is the feeling that goes through men’s mind.
Saturday today so no work today and tomorrow. I wonder what the wife has in store for me. Normally a long list of things to do, just like your situation. Where are those days when the husband brought in the wage and the wife firmly tied to the kitchen sink..?
Ha..ha.
Anyway, have a good weekend, eat well and keep well.
Yours,
Ketan Soneji.
For Roshelle
O my God! Roshelle! Roshelle!! I was so excited by your comments about Lyubov Orlova!! It is great what you wrote about!! Ohh… I would like to be with you last evening in the Film Society of Lincoln Center and to watch the films with the wonderful acting of the Red Diva…
For Renate
Dear Renate, have I heard of Werner Bergengruen? He is an author of the novel “Der Grosstyrann und das Gericht? Yes, I have. I am glad to hear about your special story with Glasperlenspiel. By the way have you seen an Indian movie “Siddhardha” (story of H. Hesse) with the brilliant acting of Shashi Kapoor?? Truly enjoying!
For Tatiana (USA)
Dear Tanya! Thank you for your comment and TV-story with AB in San Diego! Really touching!

hi
What you are trying to say or prove by posting images of other. I am referring today’s images of middle finger.
Person like you have a lot of respect in the society for your previous KARMA. You need to be always careful of your activities. Common man like me does not understand what you feel and will never try to understand. For most of us you are the GODFATHER .
You are now old and need rest from Public. It is good time to get Sannyasa. Don’t try to create controversy in society (directly or indirectly) unless you are getting paid from media to provide bites.
Any way many things to learn from you.
Have a good day

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
A year of blogging, and with consistency is the mark of a great blog. Kudos to you for the effort, and welcome to the “League of Extraordinary blogger” :-). I’ve been blogging for over two years (http://www.indianeye.org), and the urge to write better and remain faithful to the context only gets better by the day.
You are also doing a great service to the social media/blogging community by raising the standards and credibility of this medium.
Some may argue that your blog is popular because you are a celebrity. I attribute it to your commitment and your attitude to your readers (and perhaps to life itself). “Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude” - Zig Ziglar

Dear Bachchan saab,
I’ve been a great fan of you and have watched almost all of your films. i’ve been going thru this blog since about 6~7 months now and found interesting.
now, your comment on your putting up your middle finger has made me put my comment on your blog. I agree you and your family might’ve shown that finger only to oblige the photographers, but some thinking should’ve been done before doing that and since all of you have been travelling to western countries and know what that signifies, like many other stars, you and your family should’ve opted for a different style of showing the finger and there is no point in justifying what has been done.
thanks

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
My hands are shaking, my pulse is racing and my heart is beating crazily… well I’m exaggerating a little bit, but that THAT WAS AWESOME… Amitabh Bachchan actually wrote to me, read my comment saw my site… all hail the Internet… it is the new cosmos, the new Brahman… where all men and women and Demi Gods are equal…
You know my first impulse was to copy my comment and yours and then paste it on my blog, but that would have been some kind of a breach of trust… so I would like to ask you, may I?
Actually I won’t, I will enjoy it personally as a personal joy… thanks you made my day and quite a lot of days… I will be sharing this with my family presently…
Warm regards and a growing sense of fan-like mentality,
Sanjeev
Hi,
Well indeed it is quite funny to see people displaying their fingers so proudly. One can imagine how humans change their persepctive according to the needs. At times I wonder whether some how are we having some characteristic resemblence to chameleon! I hope and wish NOT.
Ooops, sorry I forgtot o introduce myself to all you out there. My name’s Sajid, obviously an Indian, or the so called NRI. Living and trying to earn my bread in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I am new to this blog and a DIE HARD fan of Bachan Saab. I still remember during my schooling days, when the class was going on, I used to be busy reading comics featuring Bachan Saab and I have to admit I had been punished during numerous instances. Well no regrets, as I still believe this is the least a fan can do!
I would be on top of the world, if Bachan saab mentions about me on his blog.
Till we meet again, ciao to all my friends in here.
Good Morning!
Thank you for this rather testosterone driven post! So….. it was the middle finger gesture yesterday followed by expressions of primal-man-like-behavior in front of TV today…. hmmm… me thinks you might just have stayed in London a bit too long… either that or all men really are the same the world over! (hehe! kidding you know I love it really)
My comment from last night appears to have been moderated out (surprisingly). What I said was .. ..Sport is to me as religion is to Rochelle (for want of a better analogy)… incomprehensible I’m afraid! I’m perfectly aware some women are equally passionate about it - and that’s great; because as spectators ‘they’ can still control their behavior and bodily noises. But WHY at the very ‘mention’ of a team game/sport do otherwise intelligent, well mannered gentleman instantaneously turn into…. senseless, lethargic, heckling louts? If your eyes happen across my message today Mr Bachchan, or any other male, I’d love to know… Really would be a lesson in life worth keeping!
Abhi looks very well and dapper in above piccie.. I haven’t read comments yet but I know our Mirabai will be ecstatic bless her!
Delighted to know you are finally getting some rest… “Another day and no work”…..
OK who are you and where is the real Mr. Bachchan? : )
It’s Mayday holiday here too .. off to hit the shops in West End.
…….And …..just in the interest of maintaining balance I feel the urge to mention make-up, dresses, shoes, perfume ….. !! : )
Love and best wishes
Jasmine xx
Dear Amitji;
LOVE!
When you watch TV, be aware about your mind functioning and feelings and see that the TV actors are watching you.You are not watching the TV stars. Try this and have a glimps of meditation.

Mirabai … haha.. Love your post today -very amusing! But what is this comparison between “Abhi baby (!)” and our ‘wise old feathered friend’?
First you the say “owlish glares” haha : ) and then you say “With Abhi around they have to be worth a HOOT” ??!!… hehe!
Nice daydream by the way!

Hi Mr. Bachchan
Congrats to Abhishek once again for being recognised as the most valued brand ambassador.I like Abhishek’s new style statement for a change. But on second thoughts he’s using urs.!!
Oh yes watching sports are a joy. And yes nobody wants to be disturbed during tha course of a match as much as others are watching saas bahu serials. Inspite of being a female I like watching sports more than serials. Yesterday’s Tennis match was also quite eciting as much as the IPL b/w Kings xi & RC Bangalore. But my condition would be the same like u mentioned while watching KBC!
I feel that the person whose should really post a comment on ur today’s post should be Jaya ji.
Take care

Mr Bachchan, how do you react to Priyanka Gandhi’s comment on NDTV to Barkha Dutt, that she speaks good Hindi because of Mrs Teji Bachchan. Isn’t that gracious of her to credit your mother knowing the strained relations with the Gandhi family?
Hello Mr Bachchan!!! just bored at work so thought to leave you a comment….I visit ur blog everyday but never post…just a thought popped up in my head so thought to ask you….Ever heard of Fiji? or ever visited it? you have got a lot of fans out there too…its a small country..more like an island in the south pacific(if you didn’t know)…Lots of indians there(they are usually looked down upon because people in fiji don’t really believe or follow any caste system or jaat waat lol….so alot of desi people look down on them)…it’s during the girmit days they were taken n left there so thats how they ended up there…theres hindus, punjabis, gujratis and muslims, etc…and they all love amitabh bachchan..hehehehe….i was just curious so thought to ask you.
btw nice pic of ABBY BABY(abhishek)…hehehe….it’s so nice reading ur blogs…im a girl in my 20’s but still im always so excited to read ur blogs..my favorite time pass at work and at home
sir amitabh ji recently we visited egypt for a week as part our annual tour.

Being your ardent fan of for over 30 yrs i felt very happy and proud i don.t know if will read my comments if u do please reply to me
May GOD blesses you with all the good health and energy to entertain the world and India in particular thank you for the opportunity to share my feelings with you.
Hi Lena thanks ..But I meant NOTHING bad by that comment to Rochelle (you know that right Rochelle? Sorry should’ve squared that in my post above, I’m so silly) It was a comparison since I know (and respect) your feelings about religion - I was just saying I feel similarly about sport. Couldn’t think of a more approriate analogy!
Love your educational posts btw Lena.. have you noticed someone is off on his little War & Peace reading mission.. way to keep him occupied! hehe! Ssshh!!
Love and best wishes
Jasmine
Dear sir,
Quote is outstanding ,
Specialists are always remembered ..we forget the jack of all trades in few years..as I see that a MBBS only can prescribed medicine for every diseases with low fees but specialist’s fees are more but they can prescribed and diagnosed only their area belong.
Nice clean shave pictures of Abhishek ji,.Good looking..
A tit for tat Photo of fingers.. ..Don’t blame me only , Blame the system too.
I want to share here my experience of sorting of papers..
I had collected so many papers and engaged full of racks since student life .. after some years I sorted it out, I found that the half of papers have lost their meanings .. so I thrown it.. after marriage ..sorted it again , and I found that kept unnecessary more papers ..once again threw it and saved space …and there after 10 years of marriage , sorted it once more .. many papers found worthless and I kept small volume of papers .. rest I torn and threw away ..last Sunday again my wife told me sorted it again ..for her request I did it .. I torn some of them . then I realized that when I grew too old,
Shall any paper have any importance for me ?
At now I have kept some papers still with Hope .
I think my own life is same as papers .. store more in the past seems all were GEMS but these were Gems plus Garbages ..so more I shall Grow I can be better and better as you wrote sir, to recognize the truth that still kept papers in my hand may not be all Gems and fruitful .
please Take rest more and enjoy the games.
With regards
Dinesh

Sir,
As our dear Lena points out, I have known your two intense desire, one of learning a Musical Instrument and the other of a Foreign Language.
Dear Lena, as a matter of fact, exactly these two are my desire too.
Unsuccessfully, I have been trying to learn them for last 20 odd years or so, and I shall surely let you know if there happens a sudden and unexpected status update ever…ha ha!
Currently, I have about 10 wooden flutes, the ones with the side holes. Every time I land up buying a new one thinking the ones I already have are no good.
I had many more, but first my daughter when she was a kid, and now my son who is 11 years younger than my daughter, consumed many of them playing their version of home cricket, hockey, ruler or whatever they could make use of the within four walls. Amazing part is, I can create beautiful soothing sound out of the flute for hours together with my fingers moving delicately and flawlessly, but I do not know what I am playing. As a hobby, my father was able to play Violin, Tabla, Flute. Alas! I was too stupid to not have learnt from him. He used to say music is to be played from ears and not from fingers.
The other desire of Mr. Bachchan of learning a foreign language is mine too … Do you see the similarity Elena ? Once legend football player Pele mentioned somewhere, he was put inside the classroom of 10 others where no one was supposed to talk in any other language than the one they had come to learn. For days together his teacher kept muttering in the class in the new language, gradually students started uttering something along, and by the end of the month Pele was able to come out speaking it. wow.
Taking this clue, currently, I play sound track of German movie and keep listening on headphone for hours together specially while traveling. Ha ha ha Elena, you wont beleive here too, I tried my mind on Japanese, Russian and German, changing every time thinking the next one is simpler. It has been 20 years. Did pickup Japanese a bit more than the others, but here too I shall surely update you if something untoward than the normal happens.
But, Elena, I can do cooking more than water boiling for sure. I can roll Indian chapati (round fresh thinly rolled bread) exactly round in shape and can make it become a baloon like too as it should, and many a times I defeated my wife in this competition. (This is the only thing I could ever score over … ha ha, what a pityful man I am).
Mr. Bachchan, Elena, Rose C, Carla, Reeham have a rightful reason to teach you their respective languages … you never know which one you might pickup all of a sudden. The others, like me and dear friends have a rightful reason to attend their class too as one among you … you will need uttering practice, won’t you.
My Best Regards
Deepak T
Dear Amit ji,
Me and my family is a great admirer of you. My wife along with my two daughters met Abhishek in Hiranandani, Powai during our stay in Powai in 2001. Abhishek had come for some shooting. Yours is a very graceful family. Abhishek is a father’s son, so humble and courteous like you. We wanted to meet you but could never get the opportunity. We have now shifted to Delhi. Don’t know whether we will be able to meet you and see you in person.
Best wishes to you and your family.

Ravi

You are right, Bombay (Mumbai) is very hot this season. It was straight from winter to summer skipping Spring. One day it touched 41 degree centigrade, unheard of. I am trying to keep indoors pumped in with lots of water and ohter forms of fluid … no hard drinks … i don’t. Nights are relatively comfortable.

Dear sir,
I fell off mt chair rolling in laughter….you are just too good…you have described the entire husband-wife scenario so well……
It was great to see you all 4 voting….wish I could too….wish they would allow NRI’s to vote too…..have voted just once since I attained my voting rights as I have never been in India after that….
I just love the way you write…feel like writing back everyday but sometimes just don’t know what to write…
lots n lots of love to you,

hello sir,
i hv heard of your blog many a times but never visited it. this is the 1st time. last night i saw a news clip about indian cricket team’s captain’s behaviour towards you. was nt shocked or surprised at his behaviour. think this is his way of life. bt one question that came to my mind was that why is it that success sometimes changes the mind and attitude of some people towards others (wish this is nt the case with indian captain)? why is it so difficult for some people to handle success and how hv u managed it for such a long period of your successful life?
Bachchan flips the bird..
I fail to see the reason for the media frenzy over the photo in which the bachchan family is captured showing the middle finger as a proof of their having voted.
While I understand that smart comments do make for good copy, but then again I feel it should be taken in the spirit of fun and should not be accorded too much importance. While this gesture could result in immediate lawsuits in the western world, showing the middle finger does not represent any obscenity as per indian culture and as far as we are concerned that should be more important for us.
For those of us who are so concerned that the Bachchan family behaved in contravention of the western morals, I would like to ask their opinion on the Indian practice of doing “Linga (Shivling) Puja” do they suggest we stop that as well ?

Dear AB
we share the same initials. The caps AB for you is my equivalent for a Ji or Sir. I read your blog everyday, but normally don’t post a reply. I could not resist today especially with the note about cleaning cupboards and sports. I had to chuckle and acknowledge the fact that every household no matter who you are, relationships between spouses especially the common factor for grouses are all the same!!.:)
I have a quick question about your father’s book that you are working on? when will it be ready? I am coming to India after 3 years just for two weeks and I am trying to get a copy. Will it be avialable in retail stores like “Landmark”. My parents live in Chennai and that’s the only book store I can think of. My mom is a Hindi teacher, I studied hindi till class 7 and then switched to french. A decision made by my father and I thought it was better not to question it. :). Got hindi lessons from mom at home.:) I do follow hindi quite well,(we are from the south) but mum was born and brought up in Rajisthan. Isometimes I call my mom from here to ask for a translation of one of your father’s works. (the ones that you post on the web). Strange how interests change after a certain age. I am now leaning towards poetry for light reading after years of leading legal fiction. Btw I also like west winging..:).
I feel humbled reading your blog. I am glad you chose this medium to express yourself. I definetly thought you all lived in an Ivory tower before you started your blog. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to get to know you better.
Warm regards

Hi Lena,
Yes, I always read your message here on the blog and on the FB. I am not coming here as often as I would like to, but I do make a point to read the Mr. Bachchan’s post and messages posted by dear friends. Lena’s messages are top priority over my project work.
Keep bubbling with ideas for writing on the blog my piece of two pennies, but find difficult with context and the core !
Friends like Elena, Ashwini, Carla, Elena and Ravi with Abhaya on driving seat and not to mention of dear Rose !!

24.narayan has raised some valid points. But the odds are somewhat like this. The entire country on one side and south mumbai on the other side. Thus it does not make that much of a difference and hence the low turnout may be. Most people try to avoid heat and dust. And they are too private to come out in the public. Aamir Khan’s or SRK’s examples dont move people any more. They think that it is done for publicity. Which middleclass person can spend 2 lakhs to come to vote? Anyways their efforts are quite commendable. Postal ballot, internet ballot through Bank websites are other alternatives to lure them to vote. Today, I watched Bhoothnath on colors and it is a beautiful movie. The chemistry between you and the boy is touching.
Dear Mr Bachchan,
I sometimes read your Blog and love the turn of phrase that you adopt which lends humour to your writing. Keeping this in mind I have been trying to direct your attention to my blog where there are a couple of articles written by me which I am sure will tickle your funny bone.. I am posting one of them here.. Please visit my blog and let me know if I should keep writing or give up and concentrate on job: )
What is Learning
Papa what is learning ? My 4 year old daughter asked me one Friday afternoon just as I was making myself comfortable with a nice cup of hot coffee and a spanking new book which I had been looking forward to read for the past week. I closed the book with a sigh and turned my attention to her, fully aware that the rest of the afternoon would be spent answering an unending barrage of questions ranging from the mundane to the bizarre, each asked with a wide eyed innocence which would make it impossible for me brush them off. If my teachers had questioned me as much during my school days as my daughter was doing now I am sure I would have emerged a much more learned and knowledgeable man than I am today. I somehow got through that afternoon giving as many answers as I could and changing the topic wherever the going got tough for me, while trying to keep alive the image of a heroic know-all father, conjoured up by my daughter in her naivete, but her question stayed with me.
Now what is learning? Easy question you say, everyone knows what learning is, however the problem arises when one tries to define it. A simple way of defining learning could be to state that- it is a process of acquiring knowledge through education and experience. Sounds ok right? Being the curious type I decided to look up what learned and knowledgeable people had to say on the subject.
“You cannot open a book without learning something”.-(Confucius) I read, followed by “There is only one thing more painful than learning from experience and that is not learning from experience.” (Archibald McLeish) and “Education is the process in which we discover that learning adds quality to our lives.” (William Glasser). So far so good, but then I hit a bump in the road: “Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught.”(Oscar Wilde)! Interesting, I decide to probe a little more into the relationship between education and learning. The results are disastrous!!
“The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.”(Albert Einstein). “The least of the work of learning is done in the classroom.”(Thomas Merton). “Men are born ignorant, not stupid. They are made stupid by education.” (Bertrand Russell) And to top it all: “Everybody who is incapable of learning has taken to teaching.”(Oscar Wilde)! Certainly not the definitions that I want to give to my daughter.
Deeply shaken, I surmise that it would not be correct to establish a causal relationship between education and learning. After all learning can be independent of education however learning and knowledge, now that is a different cup of tea. I can certainly say that learning is a process of acquiring knowledge through experience ? Or can I ? Back to google!!
Oh Calamity!!. I find the words of Henry David Thoreau who says “It is only when we forget all our learning that we begin to know.” And Dr Claude Bernard goes so far as to say “It is what we know already that often prevents us from learning.” Does this mean that learning and knowledge are mutually exclusive ? The mind goggles!!
Listlessly I scroll down the page coming across Alaxander Pope’s words “A little learning is a dangerous thing; Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring.” Closely followed by George Bernard Shaw who had his own take on that, “A little learning is a dangerous thing, but we must take that risk because a little is as much as our biggest heads can hold.” These and numerous other such contradictory pearls of wisdom no longer shock me, there is only so much that the human mind can take.
I remember reading somewhere that Learning is progressing from cocksure ignorance to thoughtful uncertainity. After having spend a couple of hours trying to understand what learning is all about I can certainly say that I am thoughtful and uncertain about what I have achieved.
Ignorance is Bliss!!

Dear Amitji: I am an avid reader of your blog entries- simply love it!!!!- feel connected to you in some way. I enjoyed reading your description of the male habit of being disorderly- well, all I can say is that being a women I do understand the enthusiasm when watching sports because, I am the same. I have two grown up kids- 21 and 17 both boys and my husband in my family. Yet, I am the loudest, animated, etc etc when watching any kind of sport and I do watch them all. Yet, we do ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the house. How can sport watching be fun without the noise and voice of the audience???
I have a request can you please please post a picture of yours on the blog without those large glassess? They are too big and hide your wonderful eyes. Kindly oblige
love you forever and ever

Dear Sir,
Abhishek’s pose, looks, style simply exude confidence! Good for him.
Football - The story you have just narrated mirrors what goes on in my house. The two fanatics, father and son, literally bring the house down and I dare not be in the same room when their team wins…someday they will grow up…someday hopefully there won’t be a big hole in the floor….so help me God.
Love,
Daksha

Respected ABji,
I am very happy that you are not among 57% of people who missed the polling booth as most of the Mumbaikers failed to exercise their franchise for the reasons better known to them. The high temperature,IPL matches, long holidays are no more excusable and the people who were not interested to enter the polling booth are not the reral citrizens of the country and they have no right to criticise the politicians, members of parliament for any ills of the society and the country as they lost the rights due to their absence in the polling booths.I fai to understand what happened to the 57% of the voters who criticised the politicians even in unparliamentary language when terrorists attacked Mumbai killing hundreds of people?I feel these 57% voters have lost their right of questioning the politicians for anything till next general elections an have to keep silence. It is most gratifying to know that you have been visiting your ailing friends in various hospitals and wishing then speedy recovery even during your busy sachedule. It is most regrettable that MS Dhoni is yet to reply to your message of greetings. It looks he is too busy to contact you.As this is covered in the media I am sure Dhoni will definetely contact you as a fallout of media coverage atleast.
With kind regards,
Yours sincerely,
Dr.JP Reddy,

Dear Amitabhji,
As a long-time fan, it is thrilling to have this opportunity to connect directly with you. First, thanks a million for being what you are, an artist beyond any comparison, a man who remains humble and composed after experiencing the heights of fame that any human can imagine and finally, a proud Indian through this all, while inspiring millions all over the world.
This is my first visit to your blog and in short, I am as amazed with your ability to reach out to your audience, just as you do in your films. To comment on your latest article, one of my most well-read friends shared once that he read somewhere that it is the woman who is the real energy in the world, the “Shakti”, while the man is usually inert and has to be plodded and pushed by the “Shakti” to do anything worthwhile. Well, though it may not be correct to generalise, it is certainly true that most men are “like that only”; I liked that brilliant “sting in the tail”.
Please keep blogging, filming, writing and communicating your thoughts and observations, all of that is a literary treat and reflects your father’s genius with words.
Kindest Regards,
Anand
Oh Brother!
Is Shane Warne going t pull f with yet another experiment of introducing twin spin attack too soon, it did appear he had flawed seeing the first three overs score yet he has pulled off as per his plans.. Is Rajasthan going to pull this bg win.. score reads a meagre 68 for 3 in 11.5 overs.. he is upto some mischief this Shane Warne.. one can not write his team off as easily as one might want to..
I expect a scoe below 150 would be a bit difficult for Deccans to defend as Ojha has only four overs and Rohit Sharma is not in the same league as a bowler as Pathan and Jadeja.. it would have been interesting to see the game but I am at work..
I do hope to get to see the Delhi vs Chennai.. it does appear that Dhoniwould leave no stne unturned to make his team’s presence felt in the tournament.. they have been batting bowling and fielding so well still they are right now at a very low position so to say.. it sometimes defies logic..though I would never want Chennai to win against Delhi, it being my favourite team and has done well despite constant failure of two of its biggest names in Sewag and Gambhir.. one of them mst fire today.. I know a fifty from Sehwag is a minimum requirement to be able to beat strong Chennai side..
More later by now Deccan have reached 89 for 3 from 14 overs.. I assume atleast 60 more runs would only make it 149 .. could be slightly less for a win..

Dear Amitji and Deepak T, Every child gets a chance with musical instruments may be at home or school. We used to have music class in our school curriculum. At home my mother used to play harmonium. It was some 50years ago and I still remember a masterji teaching harmonium to my mother. She used to play bhajans mostly. By chance even today I have her bhajan book with me as part of my library. We used to stick Sa Re Ga Ma…on the keys and then play some songs. I had somehow learned to play a line of Jana gana mana..our national anthem.
The harmonium had a sticker of HV Mehandele &sons. Some months back driving through city I saw a shop with the same name. It brought back my childhood memories. As a kid I would disturb my mother during her practice by keeping my hand or a finger on a key to upset her riyaaz. Never realised what I was doing. Today feel sorry mama!! but to no avail. Time has gone by and feel if I could live those moments again sitting in the lap of my mother as she played the bhajans.
I also remember my cousin brother Ujwal Singh Chatwal who is no more play on the wooden flute as mentioned by Deepakji. I must admire your father’s advice that music should be played with ears and not fingers. Great piece of advice to musicians.
Having a musical instrument and someone playing it is certainly a pleasure. My daughter plays drums and has a room now dedicated to that activity. One must learn new things in life to keep the brain freshly challenged.
One can always look back and review life to see what one liked but could not accomplish. Same can be tried as a vocation upon active retirement. I always think of driving the best cars. Sometimes I tell my driver who is a professional that I don’t mind doing a VIP duty secretly without telling the man what are my qualifications may be he can converse with me and then find out that this driver is a businessman.
May be in another city for a day I can drive a three wheeler auto riksha and charge people only the right amount very politely handling them. May be for once they will think the rikshawallas here are great.
Ofcourse my dream job would be to travel with Amitji and become his adviser for one day. ADVICE WHAT?????
Have a nice evening and do learn the desired passion of past lost in time’s race.

Shane Warne pulled p a much needed victory for Rajasthan Royals..
Respected Brother,
Sadar Charan Sparsh
Shane Warne’s bag of tricks is never ending.. he pulled up an amazing victory first by restricting the Deccan’s to 141 and then sending himself ahead of Pathan to mastermind a yet again a close victory when few would have put their money on RR after those five early wickets..
Sehwag is not playng today and Gambhir winning the toss has decided to field first a wise decsion in the absence of flamboyant opener (though he was utterly out of runs so far).. Nevertheless with the incoming David Warner they should probably have a decent start as they would need to chase a big total.. that is always on cards when Hayden, Raina and Dhoni are among the opponents.. I would not be surprised if Chennai today would post the first 200 plus total.. winning or loosing would not be decided by that.. the two teams are extremely talented and a very good second fight between the two teams is on cards.. I am afraid Delhi would need the heroics of the complete team to emerge winners.. bowlers, fielders and batsman will all need to contribute generously if Delhi has to shut the doors on Chennai..
A veru important game for Chennai in any case.. they need to pull off this one as badly as any other game.. Yet Delhi has picked a commndable side by the inclusion of Bhataia and Warner.. the latter was tremendous in the field in the first encounter with the same opponents and his catches and run out were the most important contribution as a substitute fielder.. I hope he remains as alert on the field even today.. that could tilt the match in favour of his team..
I shall now head home wards to watch the match.. website updation for BRIT customer would not be possible tonight.. not for the match but due to delayed arrival of material for booking.. Oh should I mix office over here..
Love as usual

For Ravi P Malhotra (283):
What the beautiful comment about your dear mother and her harmonium! Thank you, dear!
You wrote: “Some months back driving through city I saw a shop with the same name. It brought back my childhood memories”.
I understand you at that moment very well. Sometimes some things, some smells, some melodies are only an occasion to jump into our childhood. Like into NIRVANA… So magic and sad when we are on the top of the waves of our memory! And I agree with you. I too admire an advice of Deepak’s father that music should be played with ears and not fingers. I know it as nobody. I studied in the music school for 7 years, I learned to play cello. At that time I dreamt to become the musician. And my cello-teacher often repeated to me the similar words: Lena, play with not fingers, but heart and soul!

Dearest “Dearest” Mr.Bachchan !
I m not a regular reader of your blog but it has something that i keep coming back again and again.!! It gives all of us immense pleasure that a man of your stature takes out his valuable time to address his EF. Thanks a lot sir !! And the quote that you keep posting now and then gives a lot of inspiration. I particularly liked the one that was posted two days ago about what would a mother say when it rains ! Simply awesome…Mom’s unconditional love.
One more thing i would like to say that when i was young i had a poem in my hindi syllabus written by your father-Late Shri Harivanshrai Bachchan. It was called “jo beet gayi so baat gayi”. I was not so much good in hindi so didnt like it then..But now that i understand its meaning, i am completely amazed by it. I have started reading many of his other works and simply love it, sir.
I request you to post some on your blog as well.
By the way you and your family completely stand out in our film industry because the way you all carry out yourself. Full of dignity.
Thanking You,
Nikesh Raivadera
I just noticed I spelled the word quiet wrong in my previous post….must learn to check what I write before I submit. Looking forward to your next post

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
This is for the first time that I’m responding to ur blog. Was going through the poem written by ur father.Couldn’t grasp the meaning of the latter part.We read his poems while at school.Abhishek’s pic was real cool,he looked dashing…or would rather say the macho look. Why don’t u learn to speak fluently in Bengali ? It would kill ur time n all the Bongos would be pleased. If ur interested in learning an instrument,go for the tabla or the guitar. The IPL,the football matches n the elections are all driving me nuts.Take care.
Love,
Rita.
Sir, havent read it yet but after reading the quote from Bruce Lee, I was compelled to write one of his other quotes….
“Practice doesnt make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect”
What a man he was. Only after reading books and sayings wrote/he wrote does one get to realise what a genius this ‘young’ man was.
will read the blog now…

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
I noted today that the system of submitting comment has become more transparent , in that it shows it is under moderation. If I recall correctly, that is how it was when you had started the blog.
The pink slips have changed to yellow, one of which carried a kind message for a lady who was unwell. God bless you, for that.
I want to send you a powerpoint presentation on the “rebirth of the eagle “just in case you havent seen it .There is no link available , and for us there is no facility to cut/ copy and paste, in this comment box. Could your server please help , I mean for future references, if any.
Heard a few lines on the idiot box , about your remarks on your love for Maharashtra. Pathetic….. why can”t human memory be short lived , or rather why dont they remember to forget, whatever was said.????
God bless and good night
Lots of love
Anita Dhar
would you consider doing some message spreading for the UN, so that it keeps on , if and when you are free…. something like what Audrey Hepburn etc. did and some still are ,( without mentioning names )
Well. I know I will never be famous, in this life atleast ,to be able to do something like that, no matter, how much I may crave to do so.
TOO RIGHT BACHCHANJI…..WHEN A MATCH IS ON…NO ‘STUPID’ TALK OR SUCH DISTURBANCES….ELSE LOUD DECIBELS ARE DIRECTED TOWARDS YOU ‘MRS OR MS’…..
But not for Chelsea, for Liverpool definately.
Amitji i read that we can soon put up our pics up…whenis that happening??
Back to work now, will chat soon again

Hi Jeetendra!!(#275)
It’s a nice feeling when someone responds to
one of your first messages on the Blog!
Just the start i was looking for!
It even feels better when it comes from
a die hard Big B fan just as myself!
Friend, I think you have not understood
the point I’m trying to convey and I’m sorry
if I was not able to word it properly!
The point is, we all are so much in love and awe of Bachchan saab,
we would be heartbroken the day he hangs up his hat! Won’t u?
Who amongst us will tire of watching our GOD on screen ever!
So in that sense I believe his career is still not over,
and moreover he is at such an advantageous stage of his career,
where he can choose the movies he wants to do and it’s the right time to
showcase his vastly hidden talent that Hindi cinema is yet to tap!
The movies I’m talking abut are not just Pseudo- experimental or plain art movies…..you got to check the movies your self to understand it!
Thanks,
Keep Smailing!!

Just scrolled further down and read your generous comments. Many thanx. Hadn’t noticed the ‘feathered friend’ analogy myself. Also feeling real thrilled that someone actually reads my comments, coz I don’t know if Mr B does. May be I just harp on the ‘I love Abhi’ bit too much. But that’s just how I feel.
You know, despite being a Mumbaikar I have never seen the Bachchans ever in real life — well if you can count the once that Mr B shot for the original ‘Don’ outside my school. But at that point in time, ignoramus that I was, I had no clue whose head this was, sticking up way above those of the crowds around him. And I sauntered on my way back home. Ah poor, poor me!
Many thanx to you again.
Love, mira.
After reading all comments, I feel.. all I wanted to say has been said by someone or other, in one or other way… so.. i would just say.. take care.. u are so adorable.. luv u lots

Here are next several envious and biased articles the only objective of which is a try for artificial and fast increase of one’s rating, and also to boost oneself using the most simple and primitive way – to criticize everything BigB or EF do. As if there were not BigB’s or EF’s name in these articles, it would be hardly printed in these newspapers at all and all the more it would not be read by so many people. Well, maybe it would be by 10 people and if so only because of boredom…….
As Russian hackers say: if there are no mistakes in the program it means they were looked for badly.
I want very much remind to Indian journalists what BigB or EF is (are) not a program to look for mistakes in his (their) work.
But they say in Russia too: he is lifeless who is faultless (who does nothing makes no mistakes).
But Indian journalists, so active and aggressively criticizing everything BigB and EF do, don’t know of course this Russian proverb. And they think of themselves being holy only because supposing they don’t make any mistakes. Yes, they don’t make those mistakes, which BigB or EF sometimes do (on the base of their subjective opinion). The only business they have is to find any detail or mistake in everything BigB or EF do and following enormous exaggeration of this detail or mistake in press.
They suppose some of his (their) actions are incorrect and wrong. In reality they might be not incorrect and wrong, because it is only their subjective perception of the actions. And such subjective perception a priori is not the absolute truth. The whole BigB’s blog is proof of it.
But it is just impossible to explain something to somebody who is sure of his own rightness and wants to hear nothing except the evidence of his point of view, which might be or is quite wrong.
There’s a short poem by Ivan Krylov “Elephant and Moska” (Moska is the name of a small dog) in Russian classic literature. Over 150 years ago he has written the following story: a small dog, having met elephant in the street, have decided to demonstrate before its friends who are the same small dogs as Moska is how rock Moska is, if it may bark at the elephant. Moska barked at the elephant as good as it could trying to impress other small dogs. It hasn’t even noticed that big, strong and wise elephant has already passed by, having noticed neither the small dog nor its loud and foolish bark.
I would recommend of course to Indian journalists to read Russian classic literature just to improve their education. When they don’t argue with BigB. (If there are such moments.
)
But according to newspaper articles, which are shared here by BigB, it’s too hard work for their brain.
So I wish sincerely to BigB that he, like big, strong and wise elephant from the poem, would keep his way without a notice of loud, spiteful and envious bark of small dogs.
These small dogs are sure that the louder and more aggressive they will bark at big, strong and wise elephant the more important and respectful they will become themselves to other same small dogs.
P.s And as I see some of Indian journalists have not only big problems with their education but with the sense of humor too.
Btw, In 1917 in Russia with the slogan “All power to the people” (which Abhishek has at his T-Shirt) was destroyed the Tsarist autocracy and it led to the creation of the Soviet Union. The world’s first Socialist State.
To Rochelle #57:
It was a big and pleasant surprise for me that you see and know Russian classical films and actors. The big respect from me to you for it too.
To try find films by Andrey Tarkovsky.
Especially I love his films:
- Andrei Rublev (about the 15th century Russian icon painter) (1966)
- Solaris (it’s meditative psychodrama that is set mostly on a space station in orbit around a planet called “Solaris”) (1972)
- Stalker (about guide to bring his two clients to a site known as “the Zone”, which has the supposed potential to fulfill a person’s innermost desires) ( 1979)
- The Mirror (It is loosely autobiographical, blending childhood memories, newsreel footage and poems by his father) (1975)
And film by Grigoriy Kozintsev “Hamlet” (1964) with Innokentiy Smoktunovsky as Prince Hamlet.
I think you will get a great pleasure if you see these films.
And I also think that you can find all these films in NY on Brighton Beach without any problems (and many, many others classical Russian films too).

Dear Amitji
Thanks for writing in Defense of Our Folly( The orderly disorderliness of the male species). So much joy and excitement springs from this disorder- could we ever feel the joy of finding a lost paper or a book or a shirt or a pen, if there was neat and tidy arrangement in our affairs? Pity that this intrinsic fount of joy and creativity can NEVER be appreciated by half the humanity!! But resolve we must- despite the stiff opposition of our wives and the stern looks of our mothers- that we SHALL continue to revel in our disrderliness. The books should continue to be lying about the room…and the TV remote half hidden under the pile of papers…the popcorns and bhujiyas must continue to leave their traces on the beds and sofas…and the incisive, intelligent remarks and comments must resonate loud and clear….

Sir, good evening
Liked the photograph of Abhishek. It is refreshing.
And now, I want to say something to all, kindly permit me.
Sir, today when I came from the market and entered my house, just a thought flashed through my mind. How much we are TAKING from this nature. How much we are dependent on this. Our food and vegetables come from the nature, our drinking water is also from this nature, the oxygen which gives us life is being taken by us from this nature. Not even a single moment can be lived without the support of this NATURE.
But in return, are we giving anything to this nature? NO. Rather we have destroyed it. Nature is giving us food, we are spoiling it by so called “genetic engineering”, nature is giving us water, we are misusing it and contaminating it, nature has given us trees, the source of oxygen, and we are cutting trees and polluting the atmosphere through smoke.
For how long this poor nature will keep on helping us unilaterally? If we want to get help from this nature for our children and grandchildren, we will have to keep it healthy for many many years. IF YOU WANT MILK FROM A COW, YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR COW HEALTHY.
Let us resolve to help this nature and make it healthy. For this we must do the following things:
1. Grow as much trees in your surrounding and houses as possible. No trees, no oxygen, it means a threat to the life of our children. Any tree cutting should be opposed or reported to the concerned authority.
2. Use water judiciously. Many people don’t get even as much water as we use in our toilets. Wastage of water is going to be dangerous for all of us. A day may come when we will be thirsty but there will be not a single drop of drinking water. There must be methods to utilize rain water and flood water globally.
3. Let us not pollute this atmosphere by smoke. Curtail it to the maximum possible extent. WALK MORE, DRIVE LESS.
LET US RESOLVE TO HELP THIS NATURE AS MUCH AS IT IS HELPING US. HEALTHY NATURE MEANS HEALTHY LIFE.
Thank you.
Amitji,
Am back after vacation. Missed you… reading the posts for the last week now.

Hello Amitji,
Just to add a little to your post above, you mention feeling of monotony.? I think this is a common factor that every being faces from time to time. I have never come across anyone in 46 years that has not felt this way now and then. But you may have other reasons; you can’t go for a walk if and when please, or have a stroll down streets or even to a nearby beach, have a chat with the locals without being hounded, the list is endless. This is perhaps the biggest price you pay for your profession. Unfortunatley or otherwise, we have to take what comes to us becuase of the decisions we made which we assumed the way foreward.
There is always a good side to every calculated chance we take.
Yours,
Ketan Soneji
Dear Ravi ji,
Thank you very much for your post (#283). You reminded us of our childhood. Those days I think every household had a minimum harmonium for music. It was one of our companion during summer vacations. Thankfully I still have violin of my father in Impeccable condition which he had bought for 100 rupees when I was a tiny tot.
Now I feel like sitting quietly for sometime to walk through childhood days.
Thank you again. Bye

dear amitji…pranaam..sohail akhtar aadil here.
i need to talk to someone about all the creativity that is wasted because of the wrong attitude…i myself am a songwriter and i cannot keep up with my own thoughts because my brain is always in hyperdrive…talking the language of idiots or holy fools…but ths divine madness is the saving grace to a c haracter which ,if looked at for the intrinsic value it has, amounts to :nothing.so out of this nothingness to create something that leaves the stamp of your character and the defining moments of that character,is the skill that all creative people labour for…..to achieve an instantaneity that looks…well…easy.
i won’t say much more.i’ll let my ghazal speak what i cannot express:

Namaskaar, Amitji!
You’re right about your family having tons of company showing the finger to the media. Nothing’s wrong with lightening up and having some fun.
When you retire, it would be a good idea to play an instrument or learn a new language. Learning a new language is an excellent brain activity which will help to prevent the onset of diseases like Alzheimer’s.
I’m always trying to learn a new language, simply because I find the rhythms and sounds of all languages very fascinating!
By the way, many of us look for ‘LOVE’ at the end of your message…I am definitely one of those who look out for it.
You’ve replied to me only once so far, and you did not write ‘love’…
Love you.

Dear Sir,
congratulations to AB for his award.
Mr. Bachhan, you are considered as brand ambasador. You are an idol.
Other pointed out the middle finger after the vote? Why did you point out the middle finger? What did you mean by that?
Would love to see you with Rekhaji (in movie of course)
awwwwww come on…!!!! you guys should have showed all your fingers and not just the solitary one..!!
Dear Amitabh
I am proud you are a LEGEND and which showed in th picture of your whole family after VOTING together, FINGERs dosent matter.
What matter’s is th MOST BUSIEST Indian family could unite and vote together.
You are a true INDIAN and needless to say a HUMBLE & a NOBLE soul, you dont need to convince any one by showing finger or SMS, how great you are.
I would like the following quote from a book , I read which BEST describes you - ” I WANT TO BE THOUROUGHLY USED BEFORE I DIE”
God bless you, Sir
Sabys

Don’t show Me The Finger, Big B
Guess u must read this article I came across, Mr Bachchan
“Anand Soondas - Friday May 01, 2009
I am quite tickled at Amitabh Bachchan and, goodness gracious, the usually prim and proper Aishwarya Bachchan brandishing their middle fingers for the benefit of photographers after they voted during the Mumbai polls yesterday. The world knows exactly what it means, even 12-year-olds.”
hmmm…. “Some actors, though, fully aware of the significance of holding up their middle digits made a sideways slant to show the mark of ink on their fingers. Yet others exhibited all their fingers, more gracefully and correctly.”
Is this the message we give the world about how we mock and disrespect the world’s largest democracy????
Dear sir,we want one unforgetable ideal role from your side.I belive you never forget below boosting lines about life, which boosts you forever……forever.

Hello AMitji,
Loved Abhishek in this picture, making a style statement indeed!
A hearty hearty Congratulations to him. Like I said I`m still catching up from a very busy weekend and another hectic one coming ahead with Mother day preparations.Wonder how are you guys celebrating it? would love to know that.
We are planning to go for a party that is hosted by a family friends it`s actually post HOLI BASH and MOTHER`S DAY celebrations.Looking forward to that.
I remembered the joke where the wife goes shopping and as she is struggling to pay the cashie asks her why is she carrying the TV remote at a shopping mall so her answer was, “my husband refused to come with me so I thought this was a good revenge for that.”
Hope you ejoy waching your fav. sports today with out having to deal with that in “DND” mode.
Love you lots and Hugs for Abhishek too.
Rani.
HAHAHAHA FOOLS! STICKING UP YOUR MIDDLE FINGER HAS HUGE IMPLICATIONS IN THE WESTERN WORLD. YOU BEING SUCH A “big” STAR SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ITS MEANINGS. QUITE FRANKLY I FIND THIS TO BE AMUSING AND BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD TEACH YOU NOT TO THINK TO HIGHLY OF YOURSELF
HAHAHAHA WHAT A JOKE.
ps. i have never thought of you as an actor. just someone who is way over rated.

A wonderful article…. In my life, I have never seen a man be so selfless in helping others around him to get along and get working. I feel good that there are people like you too. Thanks for this great weblog of yours. Its surely going to get me to go to higher places!
Thanks for this article, This is just the thing I needed to see!
I agree with the above post. Personally I cannot see why you would not want to make an effort in this regard anyway. Only the other day, at work we had exactly the same conversation and came to a similar closing
