DAY 366

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Posted on: April 25, 2009 - 3:32 am

London, UK                                       April 24, 2009                                Fri  10:15 PM

Will someone help me ? I need to put a film that came to me on mail as an attachment, or a web link, on to the blog as a post. I tried my own haphazard technology and failed. I am therefore frustrated and angry at my lack of computer knowledge, for I did want that this web link be seen by the fraternity. Tell me then, how it can be done. I dragged it from the mail on to my desktop, as I do the photos that I post and then tried bringing it on by going through the uploading process available on word press. Nothing happened !

So help !!

‘Teen Patti’, Sir Ben and the casino and streets of London are done with. It is time to head home. And on to ‘Rann’, if that is the name that still remains of Ram Gopal Varma’s film, followed by ‘Paa’.

The streets of London… being driven around them… were the most exciting moment of the shoot in the entire film. And it happened with great ease and great management. The City of London actually gave us a motorized pilot policeman to hold traffic, hold pedestrians, hold hands.. with almost anyone that even vaguely tried to disrupt the shoot. Impressive !!

There were a lot of walkies and talkies crackling instructions and lots of crew shouting and screaming, but Venkat alias Ab, alias Amitabh Bachchan, merely sat back in high end Audi, looking about the important monuments that went by as the ‘loader’ bumped and thumped its way about some of the more congested streets in the heart of London.

The ‘loader’… a low end trailer 4 wheeler, attached to high end power truck, pulling the Audi loaded on to it. So, Audi you see, does not move. Truck moves. Trailer with Audi and several camera positioned on its sides, moves. And Venkat sits in Audi, giving the works as though he is being driven. Simple.

But… I have to say this. The world over, the reactions to shootings in public places is the same. Everyone, just everyone, stops to see, turns around to see, takes mobile photograph of the occasion to see. I wonder what attracts them. And may I say that even I when I drive past a shooting in progress, want to stop and see, who is at work, how they did the scene or the shot and so on..

Peculiar eh!!

And another observation. Every Mac computer store in the world looks the same. Same decor, same style of presentation, same steps in the middle of the store, same coaching area at the far end of the top floor and same really busy staff.

No matter what you purchase there, the wait at the pay line never seems to end. And another.. the number of different nationalities that roam the streets of Mac Country are incredible. Pardon my immodesty, but there was a mini mobbing inside the store and none of them were from India. Germans, Liberians, West Indian, Pakistani’s, East Europeans, Americans.. you name it they were all there and all wanted to show to me how terribly impressive their mobiles were !! Photographs and autographs later, I extricate myself through the good offices of Yousuf and Adrian, my helpers and guards, and head back.

Job done. Shoot wrapped.

In the morrow shall we meet again… fresh with renewed energy and new circumstances..

My love to all..

Amitabh Bachchan

    Amit ji Namaste,

Thanks for sharing your gems with us on your post of Day 365. Greatly appreciated. They are indeed the real Gems.

The first reaction from my daughter while looking at Sir Ben was like ‘ who is that statue’. I was trying to intrepret the body language of yours. Mr Ben is either sitting in a very dictating, authoritative posture or otherwise just in relaxing position with 200 % focus on listening to you. What a Historical moment it appears to be. Absolutely amazing! ! Thanks a lot for sharing these gems with us and by the way you named them quite right.

Good to know that you are done with your project-London for Teen Patti. We now eagerly wait for your movie. I will make sure to check it out first day, first show at AMC Theatres of Mississauga if it gets there.

Hopefully, Devine Matrix shall bring you to Toronto for premier of Teen Patti.

And Welcome to new EF member JYOTI DIALANI ( a prestigious Lawyer from London) for joining onboard.

Let me sing a Barney song for all the EFsers :

“I love you , you love me , we’r like a happy Extended Family (EF) with a great big hug and kiss from me to you, won’t you say , you love me too”

    Hehehehehe…….

  6. Syed Kabeeruddin says:

Dearest Sir Amitabh Bachchanji, I’m alive today because of you; else I might have jumped in despair to end my life from the tallest building.

With warmest and deepest regards, I would like to thank you a billion times for agreeing to stand next to me two decades before and allowing me to take one dream photograph with you. 29th August, 1989 happens to be my most memorable and the happiest day and my life’s best photograph ever taken.
    http://www.rediff.com/movies/2007/sep/05celeb.htm

My affair with you began thirty years before in 1979 when I was just eleven years old. It was the time my brother had taken me to the theatre to watch your film Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. Little did I know that what I was watching was a movie and not a theatre performance? My tears were uncontrollable when I saw the young, handsome Amitabh Bachchan who dies in the end of the movie and my brother consoling me that the hero did not die really and its being picturized and screened and it’s a movie.

Thus, my journey with Sir Amitabh Bachchan began into craziness when I started bunking my school and started going to the theatres to watch your films. One fine day, I learnt that you are in Bangalore for the shooting of the late great Mr.Manmohan Desai’s Coolie and come down to Majestic Railway Station hoping to see you in person, alas, that fateful day; I rushed back to St.Philominas hospital, E-Ward # 52, hearing your accident & injury. Standing outside the hospital, looking at every corner, noting down every vehicle coming and going, with prayer deep inside the heart, helpless that my life’s Angel is admitted and in pain.

Time passed by and I started watching more then 15/20/25 times each and every film on the first day, first show and last show, write all the question & answers from KBC, Collect Magazines, Comics, Photos, Videos, CD’s, Etc.

I still remember those unforgettable and my most memorable day; it was the time when I saw you for the first time in my life during the shooting of Aakhree Rasta in St.Francis Xavier’s Church, Bangalore. I was spell bound and in me a greed born to take one photograph with you any time.

It could have been possible; had the waiter clicked the photograph properly when you posed with me and all my friends on 21st July, 1987 at Hotel Ashok when you were the MP of Allahabad and had come down to Bangalore for the shooting of Ganga Jamuna Saraswathi and one of my friend asked you “Amitabhji aap films kyun nahin kar raheho” and a polite reply from you came “Abhi Karrahey Hain Na, Dekho”.

One more year passed by and you come back to Bangalore again on 18th and 19th of August, 1988 for the shooting of the late Mr.Ramesh Bhel’s Indrajeet. I started my bullet, your favorite vehicle in films, to reach your shooting location only to meet with an accident on the way, dejected and despair with bandages and bruises on my face and the camera broken, lost in other world, with tears and blood rolling, I reached the place to watch the shooting of the song Jub Tak Jaamen Hai Jaan with Neelam. It was that time that I took an oath that “I will take one photograph with you next time when you come to Bangalore, if not I will jump from the building; and the great day arrived after one year, when you came back to Bangalore again on 29th August, 1989 for the shooting of Indrajeet. I was with you the whole day from hotel Ashok to M.G.Road and then Lavelle road where a fight sequence with Mr.Sharath Saxena was picturized. I saw the shooting for the whole day and it was the time for you to leave to the airport. The vehicle was ready, Cream color Ambassador, CNG 7194, Driver Sanjeev and just before you were about to board the car, I come in between and tell “Amitabhji, Aap key saat Ek photo leyna chahta hoon”, Twenty years have passed by and your answer still tickles in my ears like sweet honey, “Haan Lelo Lelo”, I may forget the most favorite dialogues from Sholay but not your “Haan Lelo Lelo”.

Sir Amitabh Bachchanji, with due respect, a billion thanks for allowing me to take the photograph, a memory that will be cherished and preserved till I die, thank you once again and again and again Sir……………….else I may not have been alive to pen this message today.

May you and all your family members always live Healthy and may you always have peace of life…………………………………… Ameen………………..

I read your Blog daily but have never written any thing till now. I’m doing this now on your blog’s one-year completion. My heartiest congratulations on your Blog’s one-year completion.

Dear Sir, It has been a pleasure reading your blog! It has become a habit for me these days to check your blog and go through your comments/thoughts.

Re: Your question on downloading the movie. If nothing else works, please try the old fashioned way of downloading the movie to your laptop’s drive and then uploading onto your blog. Looking forward to seeing what you would like to share with us.

Also, I have a question on the photographs you have shared with us recently. Who is behind the camera clicking the pictures? Your assistants?

    Take care

  9. rochelle says:

Congratulations on the shooting being finished and the ease in which you were led in the Audi through the streets of London. I got to watch the taxis being coordinated in the Wall Street area for KANK and the coordination was impressive which included a lot of shouting. It’s good to hear that you had an enjoyable day of shooting after such a complicated one with the long speech having to be redone. It is interesting to know that even you react in a similar way to a film shoot but I think the others are a bit more excited!

I’ve never been in a Mac computer store so I wouldn’t know about that. It was traumatic enough when I had to be in an Apple store to get my IPOD replaced. I don’t feel comfortable in such settings and couldn’t wait to escape the mad crowd and all the techies. You are excused for being immodest about the mini mobbing of all nationalities for you deserve all your adulation and have worked hard for it. I’m glad that it happened and that you came out safe and sound.

I certainly couldn’t help you with the computer problem that you have but after reading the posts of others over the past year, I’m sure you will get plenty of help in that department. Good luck with that and don’t feel bad about it. It is something new that I’m sure you’ll master as you have everything else. You can’t know everything before you learn it.

I will leave this natural market now and head to the Landmark Jersey City Loew’s Theater to see the only known surviving 35mm print of ‘The Lions in Winter’.

Sleep well for your renewed energy.

    Love,
    Rochelle

  10. Lena says:

    (To Day 365)
    Dear Sir!
We had the department’s sitting in the university yesterday to discuss a thesis (dissertation) of one postgraduate. The theme his thesis was the analysis of the genius phenomenon (“The ontological grounds of genius”). The theme is very difficult and rather “mysterious”… I was not wondered, when many of my professors-philosopher started to criticize the thesis very hardly. Poor guy! But the problem is in another thing. I continue to think about the genius’ destiny even after the sitting. What is a genius? Why is his destiny mostly tragic? Why genius are often know as madmen? Why did Plato call the genius “ravings given by God”? Why did the German philosopher K.Yaspers think that there is no genius without schizophrenia, that the struggle between the intelligence and schizophrenia generates the genius phenomenon? Remember the Prinston University’s story about the genius John Nash, a mathematician, who got the the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his game theory work (1994). Probably he was the only schizophrenic in the history of humanity, who realized his madness. Only the great intelligence of a mathematician is able to perform such an exploit! The mental diet…. This amazing story was fixed in the wonderful film “A beautiful Mind” of Ron Howard with starring Russell Crowe as John Nash (Oscar 2001). It is one of my favorite films…

… Did you hear about a genius mathematician from Saint-Petersbourg Grigori Perelman? This mathematician-hermit has lost the university and worked as a yardman, living in a modest flat with his elderly mother together. He has spent 10 years of work to prove the theorem of Poincaré. By the way this theorem doesn’t have any practical importance and is just intellectual gymnastics… But this theorem belonged to the most difficult scientific tasks of the millenium. In May 2006, a committee of nine mathematicians voted to award Perelman a Fields Medal for his work on the Poincaré conjecture (The Fields Medal is the highest award in mathematics). But… Perelman refused both the price and million dollars!! That is the person, we should make films about!! The motivation of a true scientist is love to wisdom, but not glory, honor and money…

Sir, what do you think of a genius phenomenon? What is the difference between the genius in the art/theatre/cinema and in the science?

    P. S. I will wait for this film where you play a Math. Professor in Cambridge. You know I think you would be a very-very good Uni-teacher! But not in Math (sorry my angel), rather in History… or better… in Philosophy… Agree?

    LENA from RUSSIA, P.

  14. Rasha Zayed says:

    Hello Dearest Mr. Bachchan,

I am a bit familiar with word press, so i thought I might be of some help.

In the page where you write a new entry and above that box where you write your post, there is a subtitle (upload/insert) you are to choose video from the icons.

Then a new page will be opened in which you are to specify the source from which you are to upload the video

If the video is saved to the computer then click on (select files) and then choose the video from the location in which it is saved.

If the video is a URL, you will find at the top of the page ( From URL), click on it and it will take you to another page . in the empty space beside the word (URL) copy and past the URL of the video you have in your email.

Then click on the bottom (insert into post)

It will then appear as a video in the blog.

I wish it works..and best of luck,
Now I will go and carry on reading your post

    Till then..
    With love,

  15. Pankaj Mohan says:

I won’t be of much help in this regard, since I do not know anything about MAC, though the intended upload should be easy one, I can vouch for that. Nice to continue reading about your sojourns and encountering a wide range of movie fans from around the world. Like a proud Indian actor, yourself dear sir, we are proud movie fans too, who keep rejoicing about the scenarios you describe of mobbing from alien locations.

  16. Amrit V S Manku says:

    Mr Bachchan

I was thinking about the film you were have trouble uploading, how about transfering it to YOUTUBE, then embed the (HTML) link into the blogg ???

  17. Lakshmi Jag says:

A very enjoyable post….you convey the message so well that we can picture it in front of our eyes.

    Lakshmi Jag

  18. Satyam says:

If the film in question does not have an ‘embed’ code (which is different from a link) you will have to save it on your hard drive, then create a new post on your blog where there should be an ‘upload’ option and basically link the film there. What happens is that it will ask you for a file or something and you will then have to locate or choose the file you used to save the film. Hence you should remember where you save the film on your hard drive to be able to locate it. If however you do have an embed code just paste it in the body of your post and the video will show up. This is what one can do with a youtube video for example where on the right there is link and right below that an embed code. A lot of videos don’t have this though. To upload anything else, whether it’s a video or an image the process is the one I’ve described. Good luck!

    Dear Mr Bachchan Sir,
Just read your post. Your vivid pen-pictures make me feel as though I’m viewing all that you see, first hand. I feel as though I’m actually there!
And I especially love it when you are ‘immodest’ about yourself! Like a little boy strutting his stuff!! You remind me of the little kids in my class who show me their test marks of subjects that I don’t teach, only to get a pat on the back from me! Love you Sir!!
And, like the Bard said, it’s not that I love you less, Sir, it’s just that I love Abhi more.
And welcome back home to Mumbai, Sir. (That ‘London, Mumbai’ thing of a couple of days ago still has me flummoxed, though.)
With warm regards to you Sir, and loads of love to Abhi,

    Hi Mr B,

Firstly, we say ‘AB’ not ‘Ab’…we find it disrespectful to have a lowercase ‘b’, cos’ he da man..! so, if you don’t mind…!!

Secondly, normal everyday people like myself, minding their own business, heads down..travelling to and from work…contemplating our own dull existence… aren’t accustomed to seeing ‘Trailer with Audi and several camera positioned on its sides’ and ‘Venkat.. giving the works as though he is being driven…’ - hence the reaction. And we pull out the mobiles, because…well, that may probably be the most exciting thing that happens to us that week…

Thirdly, I take it you were in the Apple Store in Regent Street…buy anything…?

Fourthly, Pakistanis don’t count for the purpose of the above statement…it’s too close to India…and they all know and love you there…!

Fifth..ly.., good to know you’re in London, enjoying the City…may bump into you one of these days..

Lastly, I can’t believe you read the whole of this comment…

  26. Sameer says:

    Dear Sir,
I can related to your frustration on not being able to achieve something as trivial as uploading a video file to your blog, when you’ve become accustomed to achieving anything!
If I Recall right you use WordPress for your blogging, it would not let you upload any video file, no matter what format they are in. I’ve had this issue previously.
Rather, I have used a workaround. I post the video to a private folder on YouTube, then i use the share link (this gives me a unique id), I take a snapshot of the video as a Image. I insert the image in my blog, where i wish to add the video file, and create a hyperlink to that image for the video, which i obtained through the Share Video on YouTube.
This way, the video stay on YouTube’s server and is not accounted towards my space on the blogging platform. I’m not sure if this would work for you, but it just might!

Remember, at first you don’t succeed, then you have a few drinks…and suddenly it doesn’t hurt so much :)

With lots of love and regards,

Hi Mr Bachchan, just planned a trip to cambridge for tomorrow to see you and now your heading back home, very saddend.

  28. Satyam says:

Once again if you are using wordpress and trying the upload remember that there is a different icon for image and video (though they’re next to each other). You just select the file you’ve put on your hard drive and then click on ‘insert into post’. It should work. The wordpress uploader recognizes most of the formats so there shouldn’t be a problem. If there is still an issue you might want to right click on your original file and do a ’save as’ and then save is as a jpeg file and so on. Hope this helps.

  35. Satyam says:

“Every Mac computer store in the world looks the same. Same decor, same style of presentation, same steps in the middle of the store, same coaching area at the far end of the top floor and same really busy staff.”

The rhythms and technologies of ‘globalization’ (called ‘mondialization’ in French, a word which translates more precisely as ‘world-ization’ and therefore has a somewhat different resonance.. ‘globe’ and ‘world’ hardly being the same.. another ’shorthand’ for the same is ‘Americanization’) are predicated on such sameness. It is not just a Mac store. If you went to a Borders bookstore in London and then in NY you would find the very same arrangement of books by subject and so forth. This is true for all kinds of franchises in so many fields. And even when the brands are different the governing logic is the same. The constant ’seduction’ by way of the audio-visual. And of course Apple makes the most seductive devices in the world even if I stubbornly cling to Windows!

Candidly I find this ’sameness’ somewhat disturbing. It seems to me that it has become that much harder to discover the ‘new’ much less be entranced by it in most places around the world. We only ‘re-discover’ what we have at ‘home’ which is to say our part of the world. In other words there is a level of effacement of the individual and the particular that occurs for such globalization to take place. There is a Marxist argument embedded here. From the 19th century factories of Manchester to those in contemporary China. In a move predicted by Marx capital enjoys its ‘worldwide’ moment. Any kind of ‘labor’ will do to feed this insatiable consumption that defines our age more than anything else.

It is a bit hard to be a naysayer in the face of those seductive Macbooks! Specially when one uses the technology all the time! And yet I stubbornly, perhaps hypocritically, persist! It is not a question of extricating oneself from all of this but one of also pausing a bit, thinking through what all of this means. In other words trying not to be completely blind. Hi there,

Wanted to write in to share a funny thing. Am a big fan of your blogs. My little girl is one and every night I put her to bed reading your blogs. And she listens attentively, thumb in her mouth, her big eyes sparkling, without batting an eye lid.

The world is so competitive, thought I might get her a head start on ideas, opinions, worldly happenings and vocab. Besides, children’s stories are oh-so-boring. I’m hoping your humility will help her… she already thinks no end of herself!

So there, the onus of ’shaping yet another young mind’ is on you now ;)

Sir - Great to hear from you….and looks like you are done. Not sure what file type you are referring to but my simple suggestion would be to download the file or movie from the web link on to your laptop. Once it is on your laptop then you can upload it as you normally do.
So it seems that you had left Cambridge and were doing the shooting in the grand City of London (the Square Mile) ? I presume you made a visit to the Apple store in Rgeent Street and how right you are about the busy store and layout. I hope you escaped the mob safely. Are you heading back to India tomorrow? It’s a shame that my family and I could not see you this time. Looking forward to this opportunity one day soon.

    Hi,

It’s a wonderful feeling to think that I can help you out with something so I will try based on what I gathered from your post.

It seems like that you are trying to post a web link and that is a bit different from uploading a image file from some uploading mechanisms.

But the good news is that if this a web link it is easier than uploading a file … This may be something that you have already tried but if this is a www weblink (such as http://www.youtube.com ) then you should just be able to copy the link and paste it in your post and it should work (as long as you are using a MS Word like editor). You can test it by clicking on the link after you paste it, it should start the video. If it does not work then right click on the link that you have just pasted and you should see an “edit hyperlink” option and clicking on that will get you to a pop up window where you will see a “Address” field and you should paste the link there and it should work after that.

Hope this helps if it does not then I apologize for confusing you further, I know that you have lots of people to help you out but I will be glad to provide all help in case you need any.

    Thanks

  54. Denesh Bhabuta says:

Re the attachment issue - if you are using Mail.app on your Powerbook then you should see a ’save’ button in the headers section of the email - above the email content… as long as the media file is an attachment rather than a weblink.

Save the media file using that facility and then upload into the Wordpress media library and use it from there in your blog post.

If it is a weblink then on clicking on this, does the media file start playing or does it download? If it starts playing then you may need to ‘press the control key and at the same time do a mouse click, which will bring up a menu.. one of those will be ’save as’ and this will allow you to save the media file to your computer.

I use Macs myself and am also a Wordpress user. If need be and the above does not work for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would be glad to assist.

  59. Depi says:

Hello again from Greece, dear Mr. Bachchan and dear EF.

I come back with what I think is good news. :-)
I know I have told you that, unfortunately, people over here in Greece have not heard of Mr. Bachchan (our loss, really, is it not?) … :-(
I wanted to try and do something to change this.

So, when I read Mr.Bachchan’s post about the new film ‘’Teen Patti’’, the opportunity presented itself. After having done some research on the Internet, I sent a post to ‘’Troktiko’’, the most famous Greek blog, and they kindly published it!
    Here it is: http://troktiko.blogspot.com/2009/04/h-teen-patti.html
You all are most welcome to check it out.

I know it is Greek to you :-) , so here is the translation:
«Two cinema legends, the great Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan and the Oscar winner Sir Ben Kingsley, will star in the new film ‘’Teen Patti’’, inspired by the film ‘’21’’ with Kevin Spacey. The two actors started shooting in Cambridge yesterday. The director Leena Yadav is very excited to work with these two great artists. Rumours have it that Richard Gere will also play a small part in the film, while Pierce Brosnan has already made a cameo appearance! Amitabh Bachchan might not be known at all in Greece, but he is a huge megastar in India. In the film ‘’Slumdog Millionaire’’, we saw one of the child actors fall in the sewage, in order to get close to him and obtain his autograph» .

Dear Mr. Bachchan, I really hope you are not cross by me having done all this, because I did it without asking, as I should have done.
Also, I did need to mention the scene from ‘’Slumdog Millionaire’’, as in Greece everyone has seen and loved it - and, would you believe that, most people do not know that the actor the child is trying to get close to in the film is a real person, they think it is a film character! Well, they will know now.

I love the photo of Mr.Bachchan that I put in the post, by the way. :-) I hope you all agree. I think he looks absolutely great in that photo, as it reflects the generosity and warmth that he gives to us all, his e-children. Plus, he is *so* cute!!! :-)

Lots of love to you all from
    Depi

  60. Sam says:

    Dear Mr Bachchan,

First of all, congratulations on the completion of your work for Teen Patti.

With regards to you video problem. Here are some pointers to help.

    1. You have the video file now on your desktop area. Therefore, it is is possible to upload it to Wordpress. Which you say you did try and do. There can be problems with Wordpress and large file sizes. Some systems will not allow large uploads and video files can be very large in size. So, this is probably a reason why nothing happened.

    2. To play a video file very much depends on the type of video file you have. You can tell this my looking at the filename, especially, the extension (last three letters of the filename). For example, xxx.wmv, xxx.avi, xxx.mov, xxx.flv etc. The file extension is used to determine which player to use for the video. Common ones are WMV for Windows Media player and MOV for the Apple Quicktime player.

    3. Usually, the best way to get a video to play on Wordpress, is to upload it separately to another file storage server and link to it from there as a web link (embed) in your post.

    For example, http://www.divshare.com/

This site will allow you to upload your video and share it. You simple create a password protected account and upload your video to the site. Please note, the upload can take some time depending on the size of the video file.

If you use this, then use the ‘embed’ code it gives you for your file. Place that in your post using the ‘HTML’ editor option in Wordpress. In your preview, you should now see your uploaded video in the divshare player on your post!

Please note there are many sites providing this kind of service. For other options see here : http://www.carolsvault.com/free-online-file-storage/.

    4. Using an alternative file storage system will also allow you to better manage your files. For example, if something happens to the Wordpress environment, at least your media files are safe or backed up.

    5. Another method is to install a ‘plugin’ on your Wordpress system. This will usually be provided by your Wordpress administrators. Allowing you to embed videos using a line of code.
There are many plugins available for Wordpress to do this. As an example, you can see videos at this site http://www.desiblitz.com ( a Wordpress site). These are all embedded in the posts using a video plugin.

I hope this makes sense, if you need any further help, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am based in the UK with a background in IT/Wordpress, and I sincerely hope you enjoyed your visit here this time round.

Take care and all the best to you,
    Sam

  61. Anjul Bamhrolia says:

    Hello sir ,
Solution for your problem =The best way to post video on the blog , it just upload to the http://www.youtube.com and then you will get
To add a YouTube video to a post in Wordpress, log into your Wordpress account and write a new post. Be sure to leave a blank line where you want the YouTube video to appear in the final, published post on your blog.

When you’re done entering the text for your post, select the “HTML” tab to switch to the HTML Editor view in Wordpress.

Open a new window in your browser, visit YouTube.com, and find the video you want to embed into your Wordpress post. Copy the HTML code in the text box labeled “Embed”.

Notice that when you click in the Embed text box, the window may expand showing several options you can pick and choose from to customize the video’s appearance within your blog post. For example, you can choose to show related videos, include a border, and change the size. It’s up to you if you want to modify these settings or not. If you do change these selections, the code in the Embed text box will automatically update. Therefore, copy the Embed code after you make any customization changes.

Return to the window where you have your Wordpress post open, and click within the HTML editor text box in order to place your cursor at the beginning of the first line where you want the YouTube video to appear within your final, published post. Paste the code here, and then select the “Publish” button on the right side of your screen to publish your post.

It’s important to paste the Embed code just before you hit the Publish button. If you do anything else to your post after pasting the Embed code, the YouTube video may not appear correctly in your final, published post. If that happens, you’ll have to return to the HTML editor, delete the code you pasted, re-paste it and republish your post.

Visit your blog to view your live post and ensure it published correctly.

    IT WILL 100 % WORK :D

  63. Rasha Zayed says:

    Dearest Mr. Bachchan,

Geat to know that you are done with this round of the shoot of Teen Patti.

That’s a valid observation. Yes wherever there is a shoot in a public place people would just act in that way, turning, watching and maybe starting taking photos.

I think that if people suddenly find Amitabh Bachchan in front of their eyes, shooting in the street, they will be having a strong reason to get attracted to it and to start taking photos of you while shooting. It is something tha does not happen with them everyday.

Well. I have never witnessed it before. But If I were in a place where YOU are shooting, I might just interrupt the shoot, not to take a photo of you while shooting, but to take a photo WITH you… but oh, then you might be in need to retake the scene. :)

By the way Mr. B…on second reading I found that you said you dragged the URL of the video from your email to the desktop, and then tried to upload it to the blog. I think you might not be in need to take the link to the desktop…but instead you will have to copy and past the link directly from the email to the page of uploading, as I have just mentioned in my previous comment.

It worked with me that way…and I hope it works with you too.

Glad you enjoyed your day in London today…and wish you will have a safe and nice flight back home…seems another schedule is awaiting you there.

Till the ‘morrow’ with all that it has for us…

    Hello Amitabhji,
The easiest way to upload the video is to first upload it on http://www.youtube.com and then once it is there, try to view the video. On the right side there will be a URL code and right under it an “embed code”. Copy that embed code and paste it into your blog entry. Hope this helps!

  66. D P Prakash says:

    Dear Amitabh ji,

    Regarding the attachment issue:
    (i) Simple & quick solution
If the film attachment is stored online, and you have the web address, simply cut and paste into the blog or type it in
    (ii) Alternative solution
As someone suggested above, upload the film into You Tube space; then copy the link into the blog
    (iii) Long Term solution
Consult with bigadda team regarding their attachment policy. If the bigadda blog space does not allow attachments you can ask them to change their policy for you. Their IT team should be able to do it.

Regarding the advice your dad gave about earning only through hardwork, and how it was delivered and how you received it - it was most beautiful. You had a wonderful relationship with your father. Much for fathers-to-be to learn from.

  70. Anu (London) says:

    Dearest Amithji,

Okay, firstly your IT problem, I’m not a wizard, but the little influence from my husband tells me that you can not load a film from word processing, to portray on the blog unlike pictures which is easily done, especially if you are telling me that this film has been sent to you from an email.

The megs on the film will be too much pressure to hold, especially if you want the whole film, and not just a clip, as depends on a lot of factors, unfortunately your explanation is rather confusing, as you have not explained whether the email you got off this film was received as an attachment or link, or do you want this to be an attachment or link, therefore there are too many dependencies that need clarity ??

So please explain further so I can help, otherwise I am getting angry and frustrated also not being able to assist you, as not clear what you really want to do, and what you have got and how ? what current position are you in now? Also a lot depends on your server, the capability of your software you hold, the portal and so on… further clarity may help…

Okay, now a relief for you and as they say ‘all that ends well !!! ‘that your shoot and time for a while is complete here, but so sad that you are leaving the streets of London for me. So close but far.

I had hoped that we could meet even for a very short 10 mins, before you left to return home…. But I do totally understand that this visit has been cram packed tight, and that you have had a hectic run, early to late schedules and all the running around with it… So no problems… I salute you in realising that with all this load on your back, you still endeavour to spare those few minutes to update your EF, the commitment and time that you hold in your heart for us is just remarkable, and to have kept it up for the 1 yr, and may it continue is ‘MIND BLOWING’ heeeee…. It keeps me going!!!

So I hope your next visit is a little less stressed, that you do have the time to rehearse some lines, and get the make up and wig right, not forgetting the unironed clothes lol…(sori just so shocked when I read that comment of yours, how people think and observe is atrocious)

So I hope your next visit we can meet again…

Hope you a have a safe and comfortable flight back home..

Thanking for the insight to Cambridge and St John’s and Teen Patti..

Oh by the way before I forget:

F.A.O NO 1 FAN IN UK,

The meaning to ‘Teen Patti’ is not as it reads ‘3 Husbands’, but we must read deeper than that from what I imagine it reflect s ‘TEEN PATE’ = 3 CARDS

I am sure Amithji can clarify further, if I am wrong but that is my understanding , so maybe the spelling of the title has led us to have a totally different perspective of the movie, which may not be about 3 husbands, but I could be wrong, this is my interpretation, hope it helps No 1 fan.

‘What attracts people to watch a shoot’ ? come on how can you even ask this question ? you are not naive, Should you not be asking yourself what cinema has influenced from the year dot to now, is what this is all about, whether we talk about cinema being American, Chinese or Indian the concept is the same, the curiosity, the lack of knowledge, the adrenaline of hoping there is a known figure amongst this all, leaves one to speculate…

Can you not understand this ? In fact being at a street or public domain is pretty natural for heads to turn, it could be an accident incident that could hold up hours of a traffic jam, but human instinct is to slow down and see what has occurred sod the traffic and anxiety and patience of the hundreds behind… this is mankind ‘nosey for thier own good’

So if an accident can cause such a conundrum, imagine lights action camera can cause (If that is the order) And to that matter knowing ‘Amithabh Bachchan is present… well I rest my case.

Finally can not believe the amount of responses you got in relation to the emphasis on your past youthful days??? What has not been declared is that how many EF have those habits today ?? One rule for one haaaaa..

Okay dear, take care and have a relaxing eve

    Gud nite

    lov

    Anu

  71. Niladri from Cambridge says:

    Hello Amitabhji,
Nice to know every thing went well in London. But a sad thing happened with us. We were in the extras during your shooting at St. John’s. A week back we received a mail from our college that whether we are interested to take part as extras in the film. I was about to delete the mail, when a google search revealed that, you are in the film. Instantly I said yes! And finally some of us were selected to be a part of the shooting. We came and waited in a room opposite to the college for four long hours before being called on to the set. Who would have imagined, meanwhile some people got the opportunity to see your shots up close, and take some pictures with you too at around 11 in the morning!
Finally we were called on to the set for the shooting. It was amazing to see you acting, your concentration amazed all of us. The way you rehearsed between the shots without being distracted by others, was something to watch for, a learning experience. We were exteremely disappointed, and could see the disappointment on your face when the three cameras ran out of reel. That was really bad!
But we really hoped to take a picture with you. But after your shot you quickly left, and there were three more shots left with us, so we were not allowed to leave the set. Finally, I saw the people who did not get a chance that day to be included as extras, were the luckiest ones. I hope someday I will get the opportunity to interact with you once more. We thought that we would request the film crew to allow us to take a picture with you, but it was too late by then.
Anyway, you cant get lucky all the time. But, it is a memory that I would long cherish. It was a great learning experience. I still consider myself lucky, even after the fact that we were not able to take a picture with you.

Many good wishes for the success of the film.

    Regards.
    Niladri.

Amitji, although I use both iMac at work and IBM at home, I find that what Rasha Zayed has told you is very accurate. That is what I have done when I needed to upload files of various sorts. Such discourse will strengthen the unity among all the EFs. So a great move on your part.
Not that EFs are short of giving you advice on just about everything!! But the support we have for you is unsurmountable as we all love you for so many reasons.
As for the film shooting being completed In London will surely give you some respite from the husstle and bustle of London. It was great to hear about Sir Ben Kingsley. If it came in a file format then you can save the file into your desktop and upload it into another medium such as youtube and then copy the embedded image URL into your blog.

I’m sure you’ll be able to handle it!

    Dear Mr. Bachchan,

Was all day long very busy, and it is so wonderful, to conclude the evening with your post. It is for me always an enjoyment your Blog with all the interesting tidings from your shoot and your life to read. And I try to improve my English by your style of writing and expression. Thus I take the advice of my friend Abhaya and hope one can recognize progress soon.
Thanks for the pictures, which often say more than words. It is Great Sir Ben and you Mr. Bachchan, you both are accomplished actor and together in a film is excellent. And the other picture with an arabien men and the sideboard with the multicolored glasses radiate a certain atmosphere. I am very curious on the film ” Teen Patti” — Hope come it also to Germany.
It was a strenuous day, but you seemed to have very much enjoyed it.
The words of your father are brilliantly!
so simply and nevertheless so content-fully.
It is so true if I to my first self-earned money thinks back which for a feeling; proudly and joy… also today still.
In Germany there is a quote „Wie gewonnen, so zerronnen”
In English approximately: “Easy come, easy go” or “Light come light go”

Best wishes to you Mr. Bachchan and a great Day

    Good night
    Love always
    Carla

See new post of you, but too late for me . I must go to sleep . Work is tomorrow morning and the night is no longer long.

  81. Carla says:

    Dear Abhaya,
I am always lucky with you; however I give you not right.
    I have another standpoint of this;
“I know you all are much closer to him than me. “
    You lies simply wrongly.
I am so happy to have found the blog, and gladly here to write.
I am pleased for everyone the one answer get, who Mr. Bachchan meets or also the Dinner wins. I had for me never so a thought.
I am pleased over so much wonderful humans whom I became acquainted with here.
And I am proud that I can say friend to some. And that is the best with the language barrier. Magnificent!

Love to you Abhaya and your family

    good night

It looks like you received all the computer advice you’ll be able to handle and then some…it feels like we can show you some of our love this way…only I’m too late to add anything useful..so please have the love without any advice…

I am happy to hear you had a relatively easy and fruitful shoot, thanks again for letting us be part of it. My mind will have to run on two tracks when I watch “Teen Patti”, one for following the story and one to remember your descriptions.

Have a safe and enjoyable flight back home.

Maccies are primarily a pack of phonies, in my opinion. BTW embedding a video in your blog might require some kind of coding, if such a provision hasn’t readily been made available by the blogsite. You should contact bigadda.com to help you out with that. <–Which I guess you might’ve already done by now, so basically while I was trying to help you I actually was of no help.. but then again I write comments just so that I feel like I’m your friend. And that’s very cool. Yeah. Uber cool.

    Amitji,

Glad to read that your shooting schedule for Teen Patti has been completed really look forward to seeing this one, I know the schedule hadnt gone according to plan but I hope you are satisfied with the end result.

This means you will be leaving us again, heading back home. Must admit everytime you are here in the UK, its feels so nice to know that you are here and not too 1000’s of miles away and unapproachable, was hoping we get to see you before you go, but I fully understand your work schedules have been jammed packed and you are heading back home to the same..

A part of me is disappointed to see you go, but hopefully you will be back in the UK soon..

Hope you get a chance to visit my group on Facebook and maybe send me feedback as it would so much to me:)

    Until we meet again..

  92. Amit Laxman says:

    Dear Amit ji
I have been an ardent fan of yours ever since childhood; indeed my generation (1971->) grew up with your movies. I have been an avid reader of your blog and greatly admire your amazing ability to express and even more so, your often inspiring thought processes which come through in your writings.

By way of introduction, I grew up in Mumbai, going to Maneckji Cooper school in Juhu, and lived not too far from your residence (in Golden Acres, Ruia Park). But for the past 22 years, Australia has been home to my family and me.

The main purpose of this is my sister’s son, Mihir Raniga, my little 7 year old nephew who lives in Cambridge, UK. From his very earliest introduction to Hindi movies, he is fast becoming a keen fan of yours. He loves your role in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, particularly your singing the title song.

He was over the moon on the news that you will be shooting in his town, Cambridge.
He wrote a little letter to you and along with his parents, they went to the hotel you were staying to leave that letter for you, in the remote hope that you will receive that letter, and find a few minutes to autograph it and leave it at the reception desk of your hotel for him. Unfortunately, you had left Cambridge and were back in London, en-route to Mumbai.

Is there any way you can kindly assist by either writing a short note and posting it to Mihir or alternatively, I will be in Mumbai from mid-September so if I could please meet you for a few minutes for you to write a little note to Mihir?
    Thanking you & kind regards
    Amit Laxman

Big adda will definitely have a facility for uploading videos. Other than this you have megavideo.com or rapidshare.com where you can upload videos.

  101. kalpana kakade says:

    My dearest amithji,
How are you? & a very good morning to you.

You know, some time back, on ‘headlines toady’ TV channel, in their programme ‘tech guru ‘ or ‘cell guru’ , a question was asked, as to who was the most computer savvy person in film industry? & you know, whose name was mentioned? Abhishek Bachchan’s! So having a computer savvy person at home nothing should be difficult to you. Your house is loaded with talented people.:)  

Normally, if I have to send some picture or videos to friends I simply copy paste it, so far it has worked. I am not sooo comp savvy so cant help you here.:(  
& Oh ! My god has replied to me !
Yes , amithji, yes I can see the pink strip! & that too with my post! not to somebody else’s post! I am simply elated, delighted, ecstatic, fainting off with happiness…… I am too emotional right now, this is what your reply does to any of your fans.WOW! what can I say, I simply love you to death.
As usual , very eagerly , waiting for your next blog, with pictures.
This, above part, I have copy pasted from my previous post, on day 365.

So you are heading back home! This Sunday then you;ll come out & meet your fans in front of your house? Oooh, I am so excited, somehow I’ll try to make it to ‘prtiksha’ But , however , I wish that there was some other way of meeting you! One photo , simply one photo with you is all I need to make my lifetime dream come true. Please god show some mercy on me!
Thanks a million for your warm reply

The description of the shooting on the streets of London was sooo good. I was wondering & imagining how it will be when it is shot here in Mumbai A ll hell wouid have broken loose & you would have been mobbed!. It’s really a wonder how they shoot crowd scenes with you!.

Whenever I am driving around Mumbai on some work & when I see a shooting van I stop my car to ask who is shooting, hoping against hope that it would be you ! but till now it has never been you, so I drive away without watching /parking the car. Only to watch you I am ready to park my car & watch you at work. W onder when that’ll happen. I am going on & on about parking because it is sooo difficult to find a parking space here in Mumbai! I don’t have a driver so you can imagine my predicament

    Well, bye for now,
Waiting to see the film you plan to post on the blog,
My undying love to you, always,
    With regards,
    Kalpana kakade

    Dear Shri Bachchan Sahib,
I am happy to see this mail.
Like you and all other armature computer users I am also not very friendly with the technical aspect of this technology. I, being an author & media man, do my computer related job in the same way what you, he or she normally does. It is always better to keep on trying as well taking help from the people around you. Hope, by now you must have come up from your momentary pain.
It is a really nice experience to see your feelings of day-to-day work. Yes, you are very correct that people all over the world have the same type of thoughts about shooting and any thing new happening at public place. This is a human nature all over.
As you keep us informed with your all important acts through your blog, in the same way here I would like to draw your kind attention towards one new item based on interview shown yesterday night on NDTV. Priyanka Gandhi Wadhera’s interview by Barkha Dutt was on air. The complete interview was in Hindi and at the end when she was asked the reason as how her Hindi is so good in compare to the family members. Her reply was, “This is all because of Mrs. Teji Bachchan”. She further added that in my childhood Mrs. Teji Bachchan has always taught me Hindi and she use to give me books of Harivansh Rai Bachchan and others to learn.
Like many viewers I was also felt good to hear from Priyanka such an innocent feelings and her respect for late Smt & Shri Bachchan. Gandhi & Bachchan family relationship was always an attraction point for the people in India as well abroad.
Hope, in days to come people will be more fortunate to witness the positive aspect from all ways of life.

My husband is a “MAC-DADDY” and he loves it so much that he can probably give you tutorials on how to`s. After all he is a MAC AGENT, and sells apple products through our
Wow! How awesome is that they coordinate all that so well and it looks like peace of cake on the screen when we see it. I always wonder how it`s done and there you make it sound so easy and as if it`s really happening in front of our eyes that we can totally see it even with out seeing it. Oh! The art of Cinema…..
Glad to hear that you are going back home after a lot of frustrating but fruitful events. It will be some movie to watch. I cant wait for it. Good luck with “Rann” or which ever name they might go with but please keep us posted.
About shooting in public places,I`m sure they all get excited to see you in the shoot. I know I would too. But I can`t believe that you feel the same too. Really you do?
I am totally amazed looking at the mac store….love it myself too. Oh and not surprised at the issue of Mini Mobbing at all. You are so adorable that every one wants a piece of you on their mobile.
Hope you had fun doing this film,as much as we had fun reading the facts about this film.
I hope and pray that you reach home safely with out getting mobbed again at the airport or in the flight and enjoy coming back home in peace and get all the rest to get back to work again.
Please take good care of that back and your health.

    Sir,

Without having proper knowlede on How your blog is seup, ( even though your bigadda people will definitely give a hand on how to upload the video), a qicki I can thin of is , why don’t you upload it to a free site such as youtube, facebook, google, and post the link here … ?By the time Big Adda folks comes back to you with solution, you can any way withdraw it from public site.

I know you might not follow this, but that i the quickie can be thought of at the moment.

Mac is definitely a Superb one, for that matter everything from Apple ( you take ipod, shuffle, or iphone ) but I have that as part of self possession and I am so possessive that I don;t want to wreck it by using it for my professional purpose, I use a dell for my work. but definitely mac is a pleasure gadget to have, for personal use. :) Steve job is innovative, he sets the trend and other follows it as a competitor to his innovation.

waiting for the clip anyway .

so, sir ji, when are we meeting ? or how can I meet you in my life time :)

    Good Morning…

So early, so half asleep, so not brain awake to make a long post. But so enjoyed reading you as always. Loved the description of the shoot in London. I bet the whole city stopped to a halt for you and the shoot!

Awwww, poor you, I can understand your frustration at not being able to understand what you need to do to upload the link. If at first you don’t succeed then try and try again, but mayhaps calmly and w/out the frustration ? We don’t want you getting high blood pressure problem now do we ? :-)

Can’t really help with the uploading to blog prob. Need to see what you are trying to do for that. But I don’t think dragging to desk top is a needed process to upload. Usually you just need to copy and paste the URL (into blog) and it should do the work.

Nyways, hope you get it sorted out.

Hi, Am a regular like most other silent admirers who look upto to us a rolemodel. But today i am completely excited because your name in the movie (am assuming so, based on ur post) is the same as mine. That has just made my day. Also, it is surprising that a protagonist has been given a south indian name, which did not seem happening in the past. But then again there could also be a typecast of a mathematical genius as a south indian. After all this, i can see value why the makers of “A Wednesday” did not want to reveal the name of character played by Nasseruddin Shah. We find religion, caste, sect and what not even in a name. At least i seem to have done now. In my defense, it was not my intention but it came anyway.

The director, Anthony Harvey, was in attendance. Foster Hirsch of the Academy Film Archive interviewed him on stage before the screening. He said that he does not believe in the director showing off with lots of camera movement and cuts as they do nowadays. He told us that he threw chickens and dogs into the scenes without the actors knowing it to give it a look from the Middle Ages. And of course he spoke about the actors and Katherine Hepburns’ sense of humor.

So is ‘Teen Patti’ completely finished shooting now?
I’m looking forward to the new circumstances. If you are leaving soon, have a good flight back.

    Goodnight.
    Love,
    Rochelle

    Dear Amitabh Bachchan,

Watching “Teen Patti” when it comes out will be definitely an enhanced experience
with all your stories about the process of making it !
I believe for the same reason watching the film shooting is interesting - to see what is involved to result in sometimes very different picture of the visual reality of the film.
Also I think it might give some feeling of participation…
And to see actors at work would be extremely interesting too..: )

I wish I could help you on your computer task, but I do not know how to solve this particular problem. Sorry…
I had to fix the problem today with the assistance of the service provider. Problem with one of my browsers that occurred after the Internet server experienced some disruption in their work. A funny thing happened though. After operator for half an hour on the phone made me try everything possible with the settings and nothing worked, out of despair I suggested what could be the problem and… we tried it…and… we fixed it !! I had a good laugh about it - a lucky guess over the power of technological knowledge…

I am glad you had a good experience in Mac Country with people from all over the world..

I had a peaceful and productive day at work. Also met some nice people from different parts of the United States - a lady from San Diego and then a couple from New York City - we had a pleasant talk…

Wishing you a wonderful spring day and a safe trip home..

May God bless you and yours.

    With much love.

maybe it will help. The net speed may be low for slow uploading.

    Dear Amitji,

Your fathers poem is real and to the fact. I was an interesting news and so nice feeling.. i am reproducing the same for you for just reading…………

    Fri, Apr 24 11:08 PM
New Delhi, April 24 (IANS) Priyanka Gandhi, the daughter of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, has given the credit for her proficiency in Hindi to the mother of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

‘It is all thanks to Teji Bachchan,’ Priyanka Gandhi said in an interview to NDTV broadcast Friday night.

The Bachchans and Gandhis were family friends, with Amitabh and Rajiv Gandhi growing up as friends together - before they fell out later in their lives.

‘As a child, I spent a lot of time with her. She used to give me all the poems and books of Harivansh Rai Bachchan (her poet husband), which I loved,’ Priyanka Gandhi said, adding: ‘She really got me interested in Hindi literature.’

From that, she graduated to other gems of Hindi literature, like Premchand’s novels, and continues her reading till now.

‘That’s why my Hindi is good, due to my reading.’

Not surprisingly, Sonia Gandhi turned to her daughter to help with her speeches when she first forayed into politics.

‘I used to write her speeches, but it was only in the first year. Not any more,’ she said.

Priyanka Gandhi has been leading the election campaign of her mother and brother, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, in their respective constituencies of Rae Bareli and Amethi.

    Hello Darling,

It’s a very good new that U r com’n back home. R U ready to bear the heat?? If not, be prepared for that. It’s always comfortable to comeback home, hot or cold…….:-)

I have 0 knowledge of Mac system and wordpress. So, can not help in this regard. U can upload the same in utube by registering Urself. Then U can give us the link as many of Ur fans do the same here in this blog. I want to remind U one point, i.e. when U have visited Lucknow, U have send us that video here. But I will not ask U to do that coz it creates prob for us. Utube is best.

I am unfortunate enough that I have never experienced to watch a shooting with my own eyes. I have seen it thru the eyes of camera. So, U can guess, if i was there on the streets of London and Mr. AB (non Ab) was infront of me, what I could do………….. no no no no, U can’t guess, U don’t know my madness bout U, Honey…………. :-)), U could hardly concentrate on Ur shootings……… :-((

Well, it’s a lovely and enjoyable post as always and my endless love for my Superstar……..

  142. TriniLeela says:

    Namaste Amitji,
I’m always excited about hearing information (esp. details) about your movie shoots.
Also, wherever in the world I am, if I see people shooting anything (even stills), I always stop/slow down and take a look. But I’m always careful to stay a safe distance away so as not to encroach on the people’s space and time. Last year when Shahid Kapur was shooting a few scenes at Niagara Falls, I stopped every time the cameras set up their shots. There was ONE angry Canadian AD on set playing the part of a people mover. He was yelling at the top of his lungs and was moving people who had not even slowed down to look.
Yeh…people are curious about film-making and photography of all kinds. It’s a healthy curiosity.
Enjoy the rest of London and have a safe trip back home.
    My love,
    Leela

Some how, honesty and acceptance to the happenings (be it good or bad) makes it all so simple, yet strong and so amazingly unique. And al of it does reflect thru your blogs too.

Will love and wait to know, had you been interested, which team will you be cheering for? I have 3 personal favourites and hard to decide which is the only one - Mumbai, Kolkata and Banagalore…Hope to hear back from you,

To share the web link all you have to do is copy and past the link from the address bar of your browser and a single click will take us there. You don’t have to attach the whole video here on your blog it would be very cumbersome and time consuming depending on the size of the video.
If the Audi is on a truck will we not be able to make out the difference in height if we see inside out. All this movie technology is way above me. 156. RAVI P MALHOTRA says:

Dear Amitji, Good Afternoon and enjoyable description of London roads with shooting in progress. Venkat AB in Audi on a low trailer truck and four cameras around what a way to shoot and so accurately moving about. Your narration takes us back to film ‘Guddi’ days where they had shown how falsehood is brought to reality in a film. Now you do the same and we start enjoying Teen Patti even before going to cinema houses. The power of a story can be seen much before or rather felt much ahead of actual movie.
Stopping to see an event is part of human nature and its curiosity. Everyone succumbs to curiosity of seeing a crowd. Amitji man in the Audi and man on the street have something very common and that is human nature. The basics don’t change and both are same under their skins. Happy to know your shoots are coming to end one by one.
Rann/India24×7 whichever becomes the name of the Ram Gopal Verma movie should also do well so also Paa. There is nothing more valuable than completed work which brings wealth for all concerned.
Have a nice day and enjoy work forever.

regds uploading the movie- again, from a layman’s viewpoint- first determine how large the file size is, and how much can ur server take. generaly, for email, shud be less then 10MB.
as someone suggested, simply upload the video to ‘youtube’ and send us the link!
else, save it to your “apple mac notebook PRO” as a WMV file and upload it…. tell me, why are we breaking our heads? am sure BIG B’s BIG ADDA can surely come up with a solution!

    Dear sir,

Yesterday already submitted it but lost in web ..for the Day 365 ..if wrong please not include it here .. just taking chance by me once more ..

    Dear Amitji,
Yesterday I watched an interview of Priyanka Gandhi where she credited her Hindi lessons to your mother. It is well known that your family and Gandhi family were very close ( may be still close but not for public eyes). Then something happened ( I do not know what) you commented that you were the subjects and they (Gandhis) were the kings or something of that sort. Everyone knows you were a close friend of Rajib Gandhi and you really took charge of the proceedings of Priyanka’s marriage like your own daughter as a true friend of Mr. Gandhi. I am reading your blog from day 1. As far as my impression about you goes, it fails to reconcile it that such a strong relationship can be soured! Take care.

    With best regards,

    Hello Sir,
I believe you have inquired about the link that I provided to you in my last comment. Which is a rare footage of your film. I understand that you had a bit of trouble posting it on the blog. I will give you the link once again. And if you just copy and past the link on to your next blog and advise EF to just click on the link they should be directed to that page with the video. Thank You soo much for noticing that link. Hope you can tell us bit more about that movie/scene. Thank You for giving us great cinema. Also, If you could please visit my blog If you get a chance I have written a tribute to you or my memories of you while I was growing up. ( I can’t write as well as you, but I tried). If you could leave a comment it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

When I woke this morning and looked outside my window ..I KNEW you were leaving … the return of the dull weather, rain and grey skies was a dead giveaway!!! (Not to mention the similarly dull ache in the pit of my stomach at sensing your departure! : (
You didn’t take the sunshine with you – you WERE the sunshine! : (
You will be sorely missed, but at least we have the advantage of catching up with you on the other side.. God bless the blog! I’m please you sound stasfied with the outcome of the shoot and meeting Sir Ben.

Do you know when the interview with Sir David will be shown?

Thank you from the bottom of my (happy) heart for your reply yesterday and your affirmation. I guessed from the outset you were on tight schedule this time, and its just my bad luck that I’m not a techie so wouldn’t be in a MAC store in London; rather in department store sniffing perfume, or in a book store ferreting through shelves!

I have seen the impressive Metropolitan Police lot at work when there have been other shoots in the City - many times they draw attention to the fact something different is occurring so everyone stops to look - but people generally the world over love to see a bit of “free drama”… especially when YOU are involved! - Too bad I missed it - I was near London Bridge and I know you must have been nearer the West End. Well there will other times.. I never one to give up hope!

I’ll leave the technical stuff to your other EF who will be of far more use to you!

Bon voyage … (she says sniveling and pouting …) have a safe, comfortable journey….

…No seriously I’m glad you are going home to family and your creature comforts.. I don’t like to think of you bedding down and roughing it in Hotels and Wine Houses.. Offfff .. an unbearable thought!!

All my love and affection to you dear, sweet gentleman…
    Jasmine xx

    Dear Sir,

Firstly, what type of file your your website recognises? Some websites only recognises certain type of files like avi, wav, mp3. How about your file then?what type of file it is?if its compatible with the website types, then it should read. Otherwise, you can convert the files by using certain softwares to attach it in the site.

OR even if the file is too big, then it cannot be attached. You could compress the file though.

I must say sir, that you’re very observant. Even I would never recognise the design and nature of all the MAC stores that I visit. This has really got me thinking.Thank you.

    Have a safe trip back

    Cheers

    Dear Amitji,

Hiiii ! I hope you have woken up today with lots of renewed energy - how is your day going?. Hope all is well.

I’m sorry I can’t help you with your attachment problem. I too have very limited computer knowledge otherwise I would have loved to have helped. When you mentioned about the MAC store it reminded me of the apple icon. Whenever my little one sees this, she always says ’someone’s taken a big bite from the apple’ !…children are so very cute!

You’re right about the reactions to shootings in public places is always the same. Like many people I too would stop and watch if a shoot was in progress particularly if it was a bollywood shoot. I hope that I am blessed to see one of your shoots one day - words cannot express how lucky I will be if I get this opportunity!

From the pics you have kindly shared its looks like Teen Patti is going to be an awesome movie. I wish you all the best as you continue to complete Rann and Paa. Speaking of Paa i read in TOI that you will play a 13-year-old son to Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan - wow, if indeed this is true, what an amazing role it will be!

Have a great day sir! Lots of love!

So, if that were to happen on ANY day in our lives, we will LEAVE ALL OUR WORK and take out our mobiles or digicams or handycams and will follow you all around!!!!!!

And yes, it happens in every corner of the world where a shooting is going, but if its YOU shooting, then its definitely a different ball game!!!! It becomes an EVENT then!

When I will watch Teen Patti, will remember today’s post and you description of the scene…

Please post us more pics of the shoot - even if not of th film.

And as for the video you are trying to upload, why don’t you just post us the URL/link?
We’ll go to the site and check it out…

Enough of London now - please come back for RANN and PAA….

WHAT do you mean “peculiar?” Anyone who has ever lost and found themselves in the magic of movies, will tell you that there is nothing more mesmerising than a film - even in its bits and pieces, even in its incomprehensible process. It is like peeking through a half-opened door to heaven. Pardon the effusion but every movie buff will understand!

    Respected Deshpremi

RAHAT PARIVAR fielded me as the candidate for the East Singhbhum constituency where the elections were held on 23rd April, 2009.

Our Alternative system of governance has found great response here. Now we are working on contesting all 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand which though is scheduled for February 2010, but may be held by the end of this year due to president’s rule.

Maharashtra goes to polls in 2009 end. If you can take the lead, then you could propagate the RAHAT PARIVAR’s alternative system of governance. I am sure the people of Mumbai and Maharashtra are desperately wanting a CHANGE IN THE SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE.

We are most willing to corporate with you to take the country in the right direction.

    Please do respond.

    Victor A. Lazarus

    President (RAHAT PARIVAR)

These are the videos, in 2 parts. See fully to understand the concept. And then pls revert on my mail id: rahatparivar@gmail.com

I would be glad if u cud propagate the change that India and most importantly currently the mumbaikars want and need.

  186. param says:

    Dearn Amitji,

Just read this beautiful story, forwarding the same to you.

This is a small story, Hope that makes a Small change

Professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see & asked the students

“How much do you think this glass weighs?”

    ‘50gms!’ ….. ‘100gms!’ …..’125gms’ …the students answered.

I really don’t know unless I weigh it,” said the professor, “but, my question is:

What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?”

    ‘Nothing’ ..the students said.

‘Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?’ the professor asked.

‘Your arm would begin to ache’ said one of the student

“You’re right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?”

“Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go to hospital for sure!”

.. ventured another student & all the students laughed

    “Very good.

But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?”

    asked the professor.

    ‘No’. Was the answer.

“Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?”

    The students were puzzled.

“What should I do now to come out of pain?” asked professor again.

“Put the glass down!” said one of the students

    “Exactly!” said the professor.

Life’s problems are something like this.

Hold it for a few minutes in your head & they seem OK.

Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache.

Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything.

It’s important to think of the challenges or problems in your life,

But EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to ‘PUT THEM DOWN’ at the end of every day before You go to sleep..

That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh & strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way!

So, when you leave office today, & before you sleep

    Remember to

    ‘PUT THE GLASS DOWN !’
    ———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —–
    One more suggestion :
Before you sleep, for a few minutes just think & revel in the imagination that you have achieved one of your life’s cherished desires

    ANYWAY

People r unreasonable, illogical and self centered.Love them anyway.

If u do good people will accuse u of selfish ulterior motives.Do good anyway.

If u r successful u will win false friends and true enemies.Succeed anyway.

The good u do today will be forgotten tomorrow.Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make u vulnerable.Be honest and frank anyway.

People favour underdogs but follow only top ones.Fight for some underdog anyway.

People really need help, but may attack u if u help them.Help people anyway.

Give the world the best u have and u will get kicked in the teeths.Give the world the best u have got anyway.

If somebody have written this earlier then i am sorry.
    God bless everyone.

  193. Feebee says:

    Dear Mr Bachchan

I occasionally read your blog (and some of the posts) with quite a bit of amusement. I note that you rather enjoy quotations and so on. Therefore I thought you might find the following a bit of fun.

    Schott’s Vocab:

Schott’s Vocab is a repository of unconsidered lexicographical trifles - some serious, others frivolous, some neologized, others newly newsworthy. Each day, Schott’s Vocab explores news sites around the world to find words and phrases that encapsulate the times in which we live or shed light on a story of note. If language is the archives of history, as Emerson believed, then Schott’s Vocab is an attempt to index those archives on the fly.

    Go to
    http://www.benschott.com/en/vocab.html or http://schott.blogs.nytimes.com/

    Enjoy.

    Best wishes

    Phoebe

    Dear Mr Bachchan,

We saw the article in the Daily Mirror Mumbai of 25/4- it had your picture along with Sir Ben - probabaly uplifted from your blog.

We were particularly thrilled with your compliment to the UK crew since our son Prashant Roy was on it alongside Richard Graysmark and was at Cambridge as well. Apparently he had to hand you & Sir Ben some science book in a scene.

Unknown to you- you had a Allahabad connection working for you since the Roys belong to Allahabad and we still have our bungalow in Muthigunj/Katghar- this was just an aside - but Prashant who finished his MA in Film & TV production from the University of Bristol just over a year ago was thrilled & delighted to work for for the Icon of Indian Film industry and the one & only “Gandhi” Sir Ben Kingsley.

We wish you & your family all the very best & look forward to seeing ‘Teen Patti”

    Sincerely

    Sheila Roy

  195. Shantanu Tripathi says:

    Dear Sir,
    Namaskar.
You are awesome, I am an ardent admirer of yours acting and personality. All across in 80’s during my childhood you have left a life lasting impression on me.
I still remember watching your movie Mard in a small theater at Gwalior, when in the song “mard tangewala, main hoon mard tangewala” the line comes “mera dost uparwala” I asked my dad how God can be the friend of Amitabh Bachhan and he said yes even God is his freind and you won’t believe that I continued thinking that you have a very close friendship with God.
I’ve got an idea on which you can make a film. The title can be GT Road. The film be based in pre-quit India era, before world war 2. Their is guy in Germany whose parents are Indian revolutionaries settled in Nazi Germany for the freedom of India. This guy don’t like calling himself an Indian, but Germans don’t recognises as one of them. So in order to win their respect he gets into the army. To get rid of him, the Germans assigns him the task of an undercover agent in British India. He is supposed to start his mission from Peshawar, the starting point of GT Road and to end at Naryanpur in today’s Bangladesh from where he will be taken to Japan. The story shows how he starts his journey and his transformation from a namesake Indian to real Indian. My email id is tripshan@gmail.com, if you want we can further discuss on this.
    Bye

    Dear Sir,

You need help with computer technicalities? Of course I’ll help you….and if at the end of it you are left with no computer don’t blame me! Infact I have just managed to work out in my very clever brain why my comments had not appeared the other week…it’s because I was not waiting long enough for the comment to be submitted. What’s happened to the red swirl that used to appear when you clicked on ’submit’? It used to give an indication of the comment being in transition. The ‘jalebi’ seems to have been swallowed by bigadda.

You are already on your way home? Reminds me of the song by Lataji “Aaj kal paon zamin par nahin padte mere, bolo dekha hai kabhi tumne mujhe udate hu-e”. Just how much time of your life you spend flying across the world, reminds me of this…”mein wohi duniya mein hoon jis duniya meri mutthi mein hain”…my own words…like it? ….Adab….You now what? mene to sirf aapko bhagte hue dekha hai. Tomorrow you’ll be “springing” again to a new destination….infact one day you could be writing this on the blog..”tomorrow I’m off to the planet Mars on a quick visit…meet and greet ET and then off to the Moon for the latest film….”…Dear Sir..may God bless you! Bon Voyage…to your own home and family and very own soil…

    Love,
    Daksha

    Good Afternoon Amitji,

I hope u r still in London. I am so desperate to meet you and shake hands but it looks unlikely as you move around the globe so quickly. My pleas are falling on deaf ears now and so I am beginning to lose heart.

I was watching some more of the highlights of the Unforgettable Tour which was recently on TV, it brought back fond memories of the O2 Arena in London and the electric atmosphere.

PLEASE, PLEASE,PLEASE PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY AND MEET ME FOR 2 MINUTES!!!

    Kind Regards

    Dear Mr. Bachchan,
there isn’t any retail store called ‘mac computer store’ as such.
    its called ‘Apple Store’!
further, most of the stores are similar in look, though not all of its 201 stores! the apple store at munich, the one in tokyo and that in boston are for instance totally different in their interior design. If you are blogging, its obvious that you own a computer– so why do you actually mention the mac so often in ur blogs??

love ur writing skill. love ur philosophy towards life.
    keep posting.

    Dear Sir,
ItS me yet again….well if u want to upload movies..i do not know abt this blogging stuff..but i hv uploaded videos in Youtube and all..there the procedure is simple..but yeah u need some convertors which r available for freee on net..to make it compatible with net…as too heavy video will tk hours to upload…..so u need it in a compress form…. try to convert into flv file and reduce the time..frame…and than upload it in utube…. or any other site which allows u to embed it in ur blog very easily…….
yet again… the blog was good..and i actually want to see this movie as sooon as poosssible..u know very soon all these filmy reporter will be jobless..if every one started sharing their movie directly to the audience……and imagine…..u wld be allowed to take interviews…and answer directly with no middle voice…..wht will they do.. :P..i guess in tht case they will go back in delivering news more than anything else….isnt it…
well its election time in india…so we have politicians shouting from every corner vote for us….etc…u know two of ur co-stars are standing from my area…Shatrughan Sinha(Khaaaaaaaamosh)BJP and SHekhar suman…….(although i dont know whether he worked for u or not)….and some others r there as wellll…
lets seee…when they turn up at gate to ask for vote….

    Dear Amitabh ji,
I hope , in the course of the day, someone has been able to fix your computer’s non- cooperation, though you didnt mention the file extension. I may sound a little silly but sometimes , merely saving a file with another name , can fix the problem,,, but i ‘m sure you would have tried that. So , I eagerly await the film you wanted us to see.
Well about the Mac store , I think it is a part of a drive which many big houses/ brands are indulging in as part of an excercise to have a unified brand image all over the world. I havent been to a Mac store, but that’s my guess.
At this juncture, I would briefly like to mention that last year Steel Authority of India Ltd. decided to take up this very ambitious project of establishing a unified brand image for all their marketing offices all over India. We were engaged as the architects and project management consultants for this task. I, as usual , was thrilled. We got the designs approved and the budgets sanctioned. And ,lo and behold, came this global financial crash….. and SAIL abandoned this project. I was awfully disappointed….. but then the world must go on.

Thanks for describing your shoot, with simle honesty.

Well, it is expected , that if AB is anywhere , he would get mobbed. Unfortunately, we never get to know when you come to Gulmohar Park….. let me hope , some day I can get a glimpse of you , as I got way back in 1983.

Today being Saturday, I got some leisure time and I watched ” Bhootnath “. Simply loved Banku and Bhootnath.

I close for the day, hoping to read some verses of Gibran, before hitting the pillow.

    Love and best wishes

I will write to you five hours later from now. I have everything in my head and heart that I want to write and express.

I loved day 366, O God– what am I going to do when we will not be able to communicate. Why am I thinking negative????? that day would never come.

Sir, you read all the posts , I know that but still I want to mention from day 366 , there is brother Syed Kabeeruddin at no. 6, he has written something that has touched my heart. I have read it three times and I can absolutely understand his feelings towards you and although I didn’t hear” Lelo” but I can understand how he has been living with that Lelo. See, I told you few days ago– This actor’s job is just a means to convey the goodness and love and sanskaar to everyone around you. This is the task, God has assigned to you and you are doing such a wonderful job. Syed Kabeeruddin ke Lelo jaisee kuch baatain mere naseeb main bhee aayeen theen April 19,20th 2003 ko, ek din baith kar apni EF ke saath baatoonga.

    25th April 1978 –

It was 2 30 a m night, you were coming back all alone from the shooting of “Kala Patther” and your Red Van broke down.First the fan belt gave way then the Van ran out of petrol. you somehow reached the nearest petrol pump carrying the Can and managed to get some fuel.

wait for more news of 26th April.

I am livid with myself! Honestly! Its just dawned on me that I should have guessed which way you would go via, from Cambridge, en route to the airport yesterday before you left…. there is no other way! Oh, such a sluggish brain I have (‘cerebral inertia’ I believe is your term for it – I know how Jug Suraya feels now!). Sorry Mr Bachchan I had to vent my frustration as the reality of the details I’d overlooked just dawned on me! Having been so close to meeting you and failed has only served to encourage me not to give up! Anyway, the best experiences are always worth the wait – according to my embryonic understanding of life…. And you were very rushed and I’d never want to contribute to your load .. so ….

You have numerous offers of technical support from your EF .. I do hope you will have some luck uploading the film to the blog when you can find a moment in your busy schedule. Relaxing and family must be a priority though .
I know you will probably not have arrived home yet.. so still wishing you a safe, relaxing journey.. Yes, refreshed and renewed is how we’d like to have you back please…
Much love, blessings, all good wishes …

  239. Shanker Bakshi says:

    Mr. Bachchan,

You are Maintaining your blog on WordPress Right.

The easiest way to incorporate a Video in a blog post is :

[1] Open an account at and upload your video on Google’s YouTube [ http://www.youtube.com

[2] copy the embedded code of your Video uploaded at YouTube and paste it on your WordPress HTML Editor.[ Don't worry YouTube provides embedded code for every video uploaded on it]

Please note that you have two windows of your WordPress blog post editor. One is called “Visual” in which you usally write your posts and just second to it is your HTML window where generally you can paste embedded codes like for video, flash files and presentations or image code.

But if you can do some hack , you can install a WordPress plugin for doing it
WordPress Video upload Plugin is here:

    http://www.viper007bond.com/wordpress-plugins/vipers-video-quicktags/

Or the other simplest method is give me your apple laptop for a second , i will love to do that for you sir.

  241. Abhaya Sharma says:

    Respected Brother
    Sadar Charan Sparsh

I think you are talking of a link on the email that has come as a weblink to you.. it should not be difficult for you to copy and paste the link.. drag your mouse over the link text to make sure everything is selected.. right click.. select copy.. come to the file where you have been typing the post.. right click in this area (where you want it to be pasted.. ) then select paste.. in 9 out of 10 cases the link would be pasted there in the post.. where one of us can click to view the video film or go to the page that it directs..
Well.. you might have already solved the problem by now..if not I display another way of doing..
I will open an internet explorer window which has an address bar holding the address of a location .. say mt recently created page on the IPL 2 records..
    1. I minimise the window where I am working right now that is your blog..
    2. click on internet explorer to open another window and type the address or follow the link to the page I want to be crosslinked here..
    3. I now right click on the address bar that is holding the current address of the file that is on dispaly in the explorer.. after right click I selct copy.. and either leave the window or minimise it..
    4. I now come back to the window where I want this link to be copied i.e. in this particular post.. which I am typing right now.. so I bring the curosr to some place in this window where I want to paste the link..
    5. I right click and slect paste from the responses..
    6. the link is now coiped and would be working when you send the post..

    http://www.angelfire.com/ab/abhayasharma/top_ipl_2009.htm

I don’t know if I have been to help you on this or not.. it just needs a bit of practice.. and it is not at all difficult..

On embedding the video on the blog.. that invloves more steps.. you need to have its embedded code available.. like youtube etc. provide for each video.. you need to be able to get to the html editor version of your blog.. identify where exactly you want to embed the video.. then paste the embed code over there.. remember.. the tags must close properly in html or xml.. so take the extra care in not inserting the embedded code in between some exusting tags.. this will cause errors..

I do not work with word press.. else I could have given you exact instructions.. I write on blogspot..

I wish you good luck.. and yes.. the basic html and or xml is not that difficult to learn.. it becomes easy if someone explains practically.. next time you go to Navya-Naveli ask her.. she would possibly help you on this better than what I could do here..

Love and hope to see the link and the video on your next post.. I am sure some other people on blog would have explained it in far better and clear terms.. I know I am bad at explaining..No regrets.. everyone can not be a master of evrything in this world..

    Abhaya India April 25 2009 10:42 IST

Post script: I am not sad for the loss of Mumbai Indian to Deccan Chargers yet I definitely feel that rain is cheating us more often.. I think CSK will have to concede one point to Kolkata like Mumbai did.. it is all right.. I can do nothing on this front.. except missing some action..

Dear Amitji,Priyanka Gandhi credited your Mom “Teji Bachchan” for her hindi literacy. It is so sad to see the same family are so distant and at times have criticized each other in 2005. Not so happy about women being referred to as “Maal” though : ( (!).. and what does ‘Raapchik’ mean anyway?

I’ve noticed another one in Hindi movies (of the few I watch) “Aap ‘tension’ mut leye” or ” Jyaada ‘Tension’ leneko nahi hai” .. do people really say that or is it just for comedy in the movies? I’ve always wanted to ask someone!
Arre yaar and Arre bhai are time honored classics for me… hehehe!
Thanks again you’ve really made me chuckle .. and my mum too …I printed a copy for her!! Haha

I know Mr Bachchan’s textbook perfect Hindi wouldn’t include any of the colloquialisms.. right Sir?

Our actual tour doesn’t start till next week.So we have time to explore this little place. There was no taxi yesterday so we used the bicycles and that was great fun. I hadn’t been on a bike since 30 years and so I fell down once and bruised my hand. I couldn’t stop laughing. I haven’t seen so many people on bikes in my entire life, Young and old all are on bikes. You can hire them from the campsite and off you go. Yesterday my deriere is pretty soar but after taking a couple of paracetamols I feel better. My brother in law and sister in law do not believe that Dear Sir reads all comments and he might have someone who reads all comments and asks him to reply some of them. But I do not believe that and I know Sir actually reads and enjoys being with his EF.
I enjoyed traveling on train through Euro Tunnel. Did you enjoy the vegetarian meal on the train? It is so nice to be in the center of Paris in a few hours. Hope you have a successful time in Paris.
Pranams to you Sir and the EF.

hi i wanted to know about the film Teen Patti. You dont sound too happy with the film I may be wrong. Paa too seems to far fetched. I wish you would take on more indian themes, Like raj kapoors films hard hitting but socially challenging. India has so many ills, social cultural our insensitiveness to so many relevant issues.some thing that stirs us us from our slumber or the ostrich behaviour we easily relapse into.please give us something that we can cherish always their have been very few and we thirst for more. engage directos yourself to give you what you feel not the other way around.God bless!
