Sopaan , New Delhi                     September  30, 2009                  Wed  7:52 AM

Apologies and apologies and a million apologies ….!!!

The internet at Sopaan did not work last night after the press conference for BiggBoss 3. Having been at it from the early hours of the morning in Mumbai at the Taj Lands End Hotel for the PC of the show, then rushing to the airport to catch a flight to New Delhi, getting in by 7 pm for a PC at 8 pm was crazy to say the least ! Delhi gave over at mid night and by then I was only motor repeating questions and answers .. not a very delightful content for the blog .. ha .. !!

I needed to post what I was able to muster in the late hours and thankfully I did that. Power cuts in the city make their own peculiar problems, but this morning has been fine. I was on the 8:20 am to Mumbai but have since changed that to a later flight, just so I can connect with the FmXt…. Yes !!

Shobha De, the eminent columnist and I were talking at the GQ Awards function and comparing notes on our respective ‘blog passion’ and we discovered that there was so much in common about our views on this new obsession of ours. She said the blog had changed her life almost and that connecting on it to her readers was such a delight that she earnestly looked forward to it almost every day. I could not have agreed with her more. This passion of wanting to be back with you, to share, to express, to receive is by far the most rewarding activity, ever. There is a constant machinery that works in the mind which is ‘blog centric’. Wherever you go, whatever you do this little mental machine works overtime to gather and observe what it can possibly collect for the columns of the post. It is much like the sub conscious computer that works in our brain in registering events in every day life.

Attitudes, people character, unusual behavior all keeps getting recorded by some unknown mechanism within us and at an opportune moment when the camera rolls, when they shout ‘action’, when your lines flow out, so also does that one hidden moment that had been ’saved in the drafts’, inadvertently. I do not know why it happens, I certainly do not know how it happens, but it happens. And thank the Lord that it does, for we would be groping in the dark in our daily professional work without it.

I need to put up some new promos for BiggBoss, especially the one that I sang for. But I shall have to get back to Mumbai to get it all connected.

Till then …

Back to back interviews from yesterday have now matured me into a mechanical answering machine. The content is the same, but the presentation different. One with a smile, another in a whisper, sometimes loud, and on another vulnerable and helpless. The media has been kind, generous, loving and without any harshness. Whether its ‘Aladin’ or BiggBoss 3 in Mumbai till after lunch and here in New Delhi after 8 pm, they have been patient and considerate.

When they do that it almost seems as though there is something ominous that lurks in the background. Or then perhaps it has something to do with my age. Troubling an old man would perhaps not be in their list of priorities. Whatever, it is I must indeed compliment them for their excellent attitude and composure.

Public functions at facilities like a Hotel, gives us always an opportunity of getting to know how their kitchens look like, for that is what I have been doing all day yesterday and all day today in two different cities – Mumbai Taj Lands End and Taj Mansingh in Delhi. If you are making an entry of surprise on a rotating white leather cushioned chair, it is imperative that the kitchen entrance be used.

But all in all it has been a very well managed and efficient effort on the part of COLORS. Everything in its proper place, equipment working, discipline maintained and all acts over in a short and comfortable time.

With not a moments’ breathing space, I find myself exhausted and hungry and wanting my pillow.

I will return and in the morrow….
