I don’t know if you will read my comment but I hope so.

We made (ok I was the choreograph and 4 friends were dancing) two Bollywooddances in a department store in my hometown Kaiserslautern in Germany . They have been Say Shava Shava and Maahi Ve. We got 500€ for the good cause and we gave that money to the sisters of the Franziskaner-Orden who are in India and are trying to change the status of girls (we’re pupils in a school for girls from this order).
So, if you should read my comment and you’re interested in seeing us in Sarees, it would be a pleasure to upload them for you.

  28. Anna says:

    Good Evening Sir
Some more good thoughts for you.

    HOW TO STAY YOUNG
    1. Throw out nonessential numbers.
This includes age, weight, and height.
Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.

    2. Keep only cheerful friends.
    The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

    3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever.
Never let the brain get idle.
‘An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.’
And the devil’s name is Alzheimer’s!

    4. Enjoy the simple things

    5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who mak es you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with him or her!

    6. The tears happen:
    Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourself.
    LIVE while you are alive.

    7. Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it’s family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
    Your home is your refuge.

    8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

    9. Don’t take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is

    10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

And if you don’t send this to at least four people - who cares?
But do share this with someone.

    Mr. Bachchan..

Surely it comes to mind that even in your blog you are resorting to indirect means to let your thoughts be known. While i know that you dont like Raj Thackeray hammering down you walls, this happens to be your own personal space where you can say what you want. So why not be frank, and not all politically correct. Look at Michael Moore today. Why dont you stand up and say what you really want to say

Once again you surprise me with an additional posting after I finished relating a short story on DAY 210. But I am happily surprised because I was sort of in shock from that short post even though I want you to get enough sleep. Thank you for the interesting artticles.

I was glad to see that the mother came to grips with the homosexuality of her son in Dostana and that added even more humor to the situation. I’n not completely sure about the specifics of gay rights in India, but even in the U.S. , the issue of gay marriage is still encountering major problems.

As in NYC, it seems that Mumbai is a multilingual city. It always makes me angry when I hear a person yell at someone that you’re in America, now speak English. Instead of assimilation as in the early part of last century, people are celebrating diversity.

I hope you can still get your desired 8 hours sleep.

    Mr. Bachchan,

I have not been able to post much on your blog because unfortunately whenever you upload articles or pics on your blog it really freezes up my computer. I think the articles or pics may be too big at times. I wonder if I’m the only one having this trouble?

I was only able to read one article about Dostana. I really don’t think Dostana will do much for homosexuality or the way people view homosexuality (good or bad) in India in the big picture. Dostana and Brokeback Mountain as films and in the treatment are as different as night and day. They have nothing in common. Just like no one in Hollywood ever tried comparing the comedy film “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” to Brokeback Mountain because the films are at opposite ends of the spectrum with nothing in common.

Dostana was a good comedy film. In reality at the end of the day Dostana is a romantic comedy about two straight men pretending to be gay for a lush apartment and then they fall for the same girl. This is where the comedy of errors comes into play. The gay angle is only used as a backdrop to provide whacky situations and plenty of humor for the film. It’s all for laughs and comedy. That is all it was in the end. However if Dostana helps bring some equality or voice to the homosexual community in India then that is a good thing. Everyone needs equality in life. But I think the media is making much ado out of a film that is mainly just meant to be a warm and spiced up romantic comedy that entertains at the end of the day. I have to say once again that Abhi was just hilariously funny and witty in Dostana. He was the engine of the film. I hope he will now be offered a few more good comedy films in the future. I hope Abhi will continue to get offered good films with quality scripts(script and screenplay is king).. I hope Dostana continues to do well at box office and looking forward to Dilli 6.

    Best wishes!!

    Hello again my precious pearl…

Thank you so much for posting these nice article.. for the pleasure of reading… it’s very nice of you my dearest..

In case … when you wake up in the morning after a full 8 hours of peaceful sleep and check the blog.. i want to share with you papa my work day.. you know that i love to share with you all my life events.. but in order not to be so boring… i’m trying to share with you work day events ..
    I’ll tell you honey about today’s trip…
we spent yesterday’s night in Alexandria.. in sheraton montzah hotel… my room was facing the montazah palace ( the residence of the last king Farouk who ruled till 1952 ) , the huge garden surrounding it and of course the mediterenean.. my bed was close to the verandah.. i was able from my place to see the lights of the palace.. it was an enjoyable night since i knew that you were resting all day.. it was also a nice view to see all night till today’s morning…

We checked out at 9:00 a.m and started the tour by visiting the national museum which is considered to be a nightmare to most of the guides especially on the days of the quick trips where huge numbers of tourists arrived to Alexandria by big boats , taking more than 50 buses from the port and make one day tour… the museum is just too small and consisting of 3 floors.. the underground floor monuments are from the pharaonic era ( 3100 B.C - 331 B.C ), the first overground floor monuments are from the Greco-roman period ( 331 B.C-392 A.D ), the second floor monuments are from the christian, islamic, turkish period… !! almost all the different eras of the egyptian history.. it was so crowded today, but my group was small , so had a nice time there..

then we visited the Pompey pillar which is a remainig pillar of the ruins of god Serapis the local god of Alexandria…
( when Alexandria was built to be a new capital of Egypt by the greeks instead of Luxor which is very far from the mediterenean, the suucessors of Alexander the great - all named by Potolmios- wanted to unite the egyptian gods with their owns… so they had chosen Osiris the egyptian god of paradise to unite him with their Zeos… Osiris’s sacred animall was the bull named by Abis, Zeos other name is Sera.. so the new god of Alexandria named by Sera + Abis = Serabis.. the temple had been destroyed in the christian period .. just Pompey’s pillar only remained with couple of other monuments brought by Cleopatra from
Luxor to decorate the temple with.. it was said the Pompey’s head was put by Ceaser’s soldiers over the top of it, that’s why it was named by his name…

Then our last visit was the Katakomp… or the underground cemetry from the first centry A.D.. where more than 300 persons were buried in the grave which is consisting of 3 underground floors… we descended to see 2 only.. because the 3rd is sunk in the water … it was hummid.. crowded… but we made our way.. and they can able to see the coffins of the mummified people….

After lunch we hitted the desert road to Giza railway station where we ride the sleeping train proceeding to Aswan…

I can’t sleep in the sleeping train.. so i’ll spend the night with you… in other words.. watching some of your movies on the laptop..

    Well… i hope that i wasn’t so boring… tomorow another day… i wish you have a very pleasant day honey…

Good night again… take care of your precious health… enjoy a very peaceful sleep my dearest..

    Love… affection… respect.. forever

    Hey Mr. B
At the outset-can we fix the methodology of posting the articles you so sweetly cut and paste for us. Once you click on them they enlarge to such proportions that one has to scroll umpteen times to read one article-a tiresome and migrane-inducing exercise. I am afraid sometimes despite my interest I find myself giving up! If the experts can figure out how to give us a full page view-much appreciated.
What else is new with you? Oh before I forget- Friday evening was a lovely night out. Dostana was a shade below expectations (I set mine a tad high) especially the end, which I found to be a bit abrupt; kind of okay-I-am-tired-now-so-here-is-the-end….other than that- good job…I LOVED the scene with Boman and Kironji -Good lord..my lungs were burning, howling with laughter…and practically the whole hall I would say was rolling in the aisles…a perfect example of how good cinema can be when everything comes together in unision and works like clockwork-perhaps even better than the original script..(pardon the critique, I am a self proclaimed, cinema-know-it-aller…albeit in the confines of my little world!) So all said and done a good entertainer…waiting for the next one Abhi…
Take care and enjoy the 8 hours..
    Love
    Monkess

    Dear Amitji,

Im not very sure the writer of the first article, Amulya knows exactly what she wants to say. She is spinning a web of words throwing in names and getting caught in it herself.
She should be asking herself whether she has got it or still wondering what Dostana was all about.

To me all the three articles relate to the confusion writ large in the mind of Amulya, the judges and Raj Thackeray (to Raj or not to Raj)..mental disarray…to say the least.

  54. Daisy M says:

    Dear Mr Bachchan

Very witty and perceptive article on whether Indian cinema is finally “coming out”. People in the industry are well aware that In Hollywood, and I would imagine in India too, many gay people are drawn to creative professions like cinema, theatre and TV, and yet remain largely invisible, while tackling gay themes on screen is approached with extreme caution. It wasn’t all that long ago that Tom Hanks became - I think - the first major Hollywood star to play a gay character, in the AIDS drama Philadelphia.

And even in the West those in front of the camera are advised that it is career suicide to “come out” in real life, unless they are content to remain in “character” roles. In India I assume this would never even be an option while homosexuality remains illegal.

So I was delighted to see mainstream Indian cinema touching on gay sexuality in a way that was so light hearted and entertaining that perhaps while people were laughing their perceptions were also being subtly changed too. I’m absolutely not saying that homosexuality is something to be made fun of, but you win far more hearts through a film that can appeal to a wide audience without offending or being off-putting. And it was a joy to see stars like Abhi and John who are confident enough in their principles and in their own sexuality to embrace the roles whole-heartedly, right down to that lip-lock!

And yes, Indian cinema has come a long way, baby, when Abhishek is given that killer line about Gabbar Singh being gay. Had the cinema falling about at my screening.

    With love from Daisy

NZ is probably the one country that accepts ‘gay marriages’ - it’s great stuff for a country with such small population but great futuristic thiking!

    Dear Amitabh Bachchan,
“Sometimes more is said and understood in words, than a lifetime of talk.”
These are good words you wrote…

The article about Mumbai history clarifies the multicultural & multilingual nature of the society of this metropolis. The facts presented show that an objection to somebody speaking Hindi or other languages is not fair at all & hopefully will not take place.
It was also nice and interesting to read about your City.

“Spicing up the news” article shows a concern with the matter being reflected by jornalists properly - as they reported about proceedings in court. But what about reflecting just any matter ? Shouldn’t it be proper & tactful in any case of news !?

& I did not see “Dostana” yet. Is it a lyrical comedy ? I have read a lot of good replies for the movie & about Abhishek being great in it. I am happy about Abhishek’s succsess and the film doing good ! Congratulations !!
I was surprised to see the russian word “glasnost” being used in the article. It must have made its way into international vocabulary ?… : )

Thank you for posting & writing.
I hope you did get your eight hour “experimental” sleep. & that you like the feel.
Medical science advises for a healthy & balanced existense the formula:
8 hrs of work + 8 hrs of fun + 8 hrs of sleep = 24 hrs in a day.
I am sure if I could ever try it - it would work splendidly. : )

May God bless you & yours. Take care & have a nice day !

    With much love.

  65. danendra jain says:

    Dear Prime Minister
Are your all efforts aimed to provide relief to richest person of the nation or to increase vote bank of your party to save the sinking boat of UPA?

    Where has your conscience gone?

You advise Sri Lankan Government to ensure safety of Tamils in SriLanka but you are unable to safeguard North Indians in Maharashtra despite the fact that in both the places, state as also at center, government is headed by Congress Party.

You are afraid of threats of resignation given by Mr. Karunanidhi but not so much perturbed by the similar threat of Lalu and Paswan on the issue of North Indians. Is it a fact that Lalu and Paswan are playing foul game to remove Nithis from Bihar?

Investigation in hundreds of terror attacks is going unnoticed and going without any outcome but the ongoing proceeding in Malegaon Blast is being broadcasted by the media without any restriction.

When crude oil price was going higher and higher you justified two digit inflation rate. You increased CRR to check inflation and absorbed liquidity to such a big extent that banks started facing problem in lending.
But now oil price are 24 months low, CRR ,Repo rate and SLR has been reduced to historic low , still prices of essential goods has not comes down. Inflation figure has come down due to fall in metal and oil sector but people at large are weeping and unable to afford high price goods and services of common use. Traders are not ready to with reasonable profit margin because they are habituated to extort higher profit from poor consumers. To add fuel to fire, situation is worsening day by day in banks and stock market.

When crude oil price in international market went up you raised prices of petrol, diesel and ATS fuel. Now when oil prices has come down sharply you did not reduce prices of petrol and diesel but reduced prices to ATS fuel to give relief to Kingfisher and other airlines. But it is painful that airlines in the first state increased airfare but did not reduce airfare in the later stage. You are silent spectator when general mass suffer but become active when big businessmen suffer.
    .
You thought it wise to remain silent when real estate developers and land owners were relentlessly increasing prices of house and land till the price went up by at least three times in five years. Builders cement & iron dealers earned huge profits. Hundreds of new projects for construction of flats, commercial houses, mall, hotels etc started in all towns by builders even going beyond their capacity. Even banks blindly extended credit to such builders. You raised risk weightage on the advances made by banks to real estate sector only in the recent past.
But now when global crisis has adversely effected the sentiment of the market you did not hesitate to give relief to real estate builders, press banks for extending credit to builders and even reduced risk weightage from 150% to 100%.. You are least bothered when buyers of flats have to pay exorbitant high prices. Again you are helping to big giants at the cost of petty workers and small businessman who somehow or other manage to buy a house by his savings and banks loan.

Prices of all essential goods and services (. like vegetables, pulses , eatable oil, house rent) used by general mass has been increasing and you claim that inflation has come down. Survival of general mass do not depend on the prices of car, high price flats in Metros, big hotels, big bazaars, mobiles and computers but on common eatable and common low price houses or rented houses. You never bothered for that.

You removed restriction on PN notes for FII but they are still withdrawing money from stock market and share value is falling without brake.

Inspite of your all efforts to provide liquidity in the system , banks are not ready to help manufacturers , farmers, and other service providers .But you advise banks to help MF, real estate sector, builders , NBFC all sinking boat.

You advise banks to reduce interest rate they are not ready. You advise builders to reduce rates of houses and flats but builders are not ready to reduce their profit margin which they are accustomed to. You advise hotel owners to cut room rent to increase demand but you do not have time to think for common service men who are paying exorbitant rent for their normal living. Your free market policy appears to have gone punctured in the hands of profit maker businessmen. You are unable to control yourself and trying to control prices by order and not leaving the market to decide the price as per market dynamics of demand and supply.

Bad assets are increasing in banks and redemption pressure in MF is alarmingly increasing. Investors are going away from stock market. IPO’s are not coming from new companies because people are no more interested to invest in IPO. Scope of savings and investment is slowing down.

Banks are not in a position to lend because of liquidity crisis.
After all what has happened in the financial market that all your efforts to cure the sickness failed and on the contrary sickness is growing day by day. You have to come forward daily on TV to console public that banks are safe and well regulated.

As a consequence of unrestricted inclination for globalization, ill conceived policies and mal administration, health of corporate sector is critical and the retrenchment of labour force is inevitable. Unemployment is increasing dangerously. When youths are without job, crime will also increase which will cause social unrest and turmoil.

Economical, Social, financial and moral health all are at stake..
Even politically speaking , neither you not your party is safe.
What will happen to common people in near future? Only God knows.
You are so much greedy of post of Prime Minister that you completely forgot the promises made for general mass through your party manifesto but you are ready to rejoin with left parties who left no stone unturned to humiliate you on the issue of nuclear deal.

Are you really happy with your performance when the general mass is suffering of steep price rise in all daily-use commodities, frequent terror attacks, falling stock markets, ailing banks, increase in corruption, increase in crime and so on….

I saw Big B in real for the first Time**
    ****Prateeksha, _____________________Mumbai September 29, 2008 6.15pm
Evening 6.15pm, I happened to pass through a road in front of Juhu beach, where I noticed around more than 100 people gathered in front of a bunglow and Yes, it was Prateeksha–Mr Bachchan’s home.
I am living in Mumbai since birth for 25 years. Often I have passed through the roads in Juhu and quite often I see people standing in front of the house. I used to pass by and always wonder do these fans actually get to see Big B or do they just stand for hours and leave dejected. But i never stopped n waited to see wat happens to them.
Today was the day, I actually parked my car in a corner and joined the crowd among hundreds. Among the crowd stands auto drivers, students, business men. People from all walks of life standing together waiting eagerly just to get a glimpse of their favourite star. All eyes stuck on the huge “Wooden Door” which would open a litle for few secs n close, Open n Close.. Security guards to go in n come out. This continued for 45 mins. Some people were tired and hopes given up. I thought this was my 1st n last time.
But then out of nowhere a BMW followed by Police van came. The BMW entered the huge “Wooden Door” into Prateeksha. The “Wooden Door” closes.
SILENCE follows for few secs. I thought MR. Bachchan would sit in the car n leave.
Now after few mins the “Wooden Door” opens slowly n completely. Mr. Bachchan himself standing in front of us his white kurta waived at the crowd to everyone possible. Crowds in hundreds started to waive n roar. traffic stopped. I just stood can’t believe my eyes. The ‘Wooden Door” closes.. People happy.
    Crowds slowly disappear..
Parting words from some people to each other,,,
