There has been a great deal of activity ever since I addressed Mr Parag Gandhi’s complaint. Many on the blog have given their inputs - the pros and cons of it.

My own investigation into the matter and through my efforts with our event managers Wizcraft has revealed a lot of points which is unknown to many. Some of the exchanges that transpired and some of the comments made by the principal characters is also attached for your benefit.

There have been telephone conversations between the promoters and the person concerned which have been heard by Wizcraft on speaker phone. The results are that now Mr Gandhi says on phone that he was not asked to pay. There are accusations by the promoter to Mr Gandhi on certain non payment of past accounts by him to the tune of $50,000/-. I have been given a document signed by the three concerned promoters stating that Mr Gandhi’s accusations are false and that no money was asked of anyone in the ‘meet and greet’. There is now Mrs Gandhi’s desire to come to the London show for the photograph.

All this is so confusing.

Last night we had a press conference in New York on the show and followed by a ‘meet and greet’ as has been the norm at each venue. There were no problems here. The press was held at the Hotel and the ‘meet and greet’ at the HSBC Office Building. We, all the artists and crew went there, everything was perfectly organised. Guests went through a stall where they were registered , we were given a list and names of the guests that were to attend. There were speeches of welcome from senior Bank officials. We were placed in a designated area. All the guests came through in an orderly fashion, spent their moment with each one of us, had their photo taken and then we were led out.

Mr Gandhi’s case smells of everything not being above board and too complicated for us to understand. I put it now to you my readers -

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE SITUATION !!

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Gandhi,

I read your blog and it was disheartening to read your story.  Mr. Gandhi, you as a previous promoter can certainly appreciate and know at firsthand what it takes to pull a phenomenal successful show. Also as a promoter, you can certainly recognize all of the great people on your team that made the show a great success.  Prior, during and after the show I care very much about my dignity and self respect.  Let’s face it, if you have “A” reputation in this business, it is a small world and people will know you by your deeds good or bad.

Once again, I repeat what I said earlier in this email.   “You have nothing if your dignity and self respect is questioned”.   First and foremost, nor have I met or conversed with you.  I was able to trace your story so that it can make clear sense to all who might have been disturbed by your words.

1.      Mr. Gandhi, you originally purchased two (2) VIP tickets at the San Francisco (SF) concert, paid in the form of a company check, in the amount of two thousand dollars ($2000).   However, you are very well aware that your company check bounced.  In the end you had to pay your costs in cash so that you were able to attend the show.

2.      Mr. Gandhi, you then called Anish Shah one of our team members in Chicago to purchase two (2) VIP tickets.  Your tickets were placed on hold because you were out of state.   During this time, we were not aware of your account actions that transpired in SF. One week prior to our show in Chicago, Sam Mehta from our accounting dept. called you for a prompt payment.  You then called Anish to provide you with an address for your payment. Your payment in the form of cashier check was received at Anish Shah’s residence in the amount of two thousand dollars (2,000).  You were advised by Anish that you can pick up your VIP tickets directly at the Sears Center’s box office when you arrive to the show.  During these entire processes there was absolutely no conversation(s) or any promises made by myself, my partners, and or any agents directly related to Live Bollywood Shows for you and your family to meet/greet the stars.   Any person(s),or company(s)that were promised to meet/greet the “Unforgettable”  Stars were our Platinum and Gold sponsors whom we had a written contract with.

Mr. Gandhi, for generations, our Indian/Pakistani community has dealt with tremendous racism and prejudice worldwide. The “Unforgettable” tour in Chicago was not about Hindu or Muslim race. The “Unforgettable” tour is a prime living example of a wonderful opportunity worldwide to bring all of every race, age and creed together in one place to enjoy and to perhaps forget  about the prejudice we face within our own community. Racism is man’s gravest threat to man, the maximum of hatred for a minimum of reasons.

Warm Regards,

To,

Amitji, Wizcraft, Monty & Majid Bakri

This email is inregards to previous emails sent

regarding our disappointment in Chicago, Things may

have been said by us and others, but for others we

cannot speak for them or how true their accusations

may be. I can only speak for myself and the

frustrations we went through. It maybe or maynot be

the fault of local promoters but it may be wise in the

future to just say no, So no one feels disappointed or

gets angry.

We all thank our promoters and we all thank the stars

that come to fullfill our hearts in their very tight

schedule. I do not mean to hurt anyone especially Mr.

bachchan who I adore immensely.

If this has caused any pain to him or his staff I from

the bottom of my heart am very truly sorry.

In a point of frustration people from both sides may

say things out of sheer anger, but after a while

calmer heads prevail.

I reiterate I can only speak for my self. What we

heard from others is only here say and may not be

factual.

Once again Im truly sorry if Mr.Bachchan’s feelings

were in anyway hurt and as well as Wizcraft. This is

not my intention.

Thank You

Dear Parag,

Thank you for writing in such detail.

First, we do not take comments being made about our artistes or us as

organizers lying down….because we believe that we are responsible and

everyone who functions within our system also functions responsibly. Most

important, Mr. Bachchan has always represented Indian cinema with passion,

dignity and responsibility and it abhorring to find irresponsible comments

being made and holding him responsible for deals that he is not aware of and

has no reason to be part of.

On a more important front, let me also point out that you have consistently

tried to blame the artists and especially Amitji, which I definitely protest

about. Neither did Amitji make the commitment to you, nor was he aware of

such a desire from your end or your wife’s end. Money or no money, Mr.

Bachchan has always gone out of his way to interact with fans (he always

maintains that it is their love that keeps him going)and your previous work

with him, that you have written about, should be sufficient proof of his

commitment and belief in his fans.

You have posted your comment on a blog site for general public to see. This

is obviously in public view and hence this is no longer a private matter.

Further, yes we have questioned the Chicago promoters and they’ve asked us

for proof that something like what you’ve claimed has been committed by

them. Unfortunately, now I understand that you have no evidence of an email

commitment, or a ticket / letter that makes such a commitment, etc. I really

wish you had such a document, which we could have made them responsible for.

On one side, according to you, Majid & Co. have made commitments to you in

private, which they have not honoured. The only way that one can redress

your grievance is by confronting them with the evidence or at least a

face-to-face with you. We are ready to do all that we can in our power to

address your issues. However, keeping in mind your need for privacy, we can

only drop this issue, for the moment.

Yes both as responsible organizers, people who care about Indian cinema fans

and indeed as fellow humans, we would like to help and assist in any way

possible.

Without continuing to make accusations about the entire world, if you have

any logical solutions that you would like to offer, do let me know.

Thanks & Regards

sabbas,

I wrote to you in confidentiality, this is how its

done. VIP tickets are sold with zero values printed

onthem and sold at ridiculous prices. Someone in your

office forwarded my email to the chicago promoters,

this should not have been done.

Since the morning I have had many phone calls with

threats to have me killid, please do not forward this

reply to Chicago.

i wrote to  you as not just a fan but a previous

promoter who has worked with Amitji in the past in

1993.

All email should remain in privacy and your own

internal investigation should be carried out.

by writing to you I thought emails will be private and

not forwarded, now that this has happened you have put

not only my life in jeopardy but that of my family.

I will not detract my statement or emails we spent

alot of monies from tickets to airfare on the promise

directly made by the promoter to my wife, we did not

need to attend Chicago since we already saw the show

in San Francisco, we only went if a photo was a

possibility, if it was not all they had to say was no.

the story could have ended their.

I did Amitji show in 93 and not once were the paying

public treated in this matter, we made sure to the

capacity we new what we could do. At that show Amitji,

Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and Kirit Trivedi were all

in agreement that me at the age of 24 back then single

handed did the show without any hiccups and everyone

was treated like normal people. Those days even today

are unmatchable.

As a promoter and a fan I was quite dissappointed on

the whole meet n greet, starting late, coming from

back doors, leaving from back doors, public still

waiting in line only to be told everyone had left.

Their are classes in life

people who spend their hard earned money to see the

stars we grew up watching..

and the stars who should at every turn acknowledge how

hard it is to make money and for the fans to spend

this kind of money too see them should be appreciated.

That did not happened..again the stars have proven to

the world that fans mean nothing outside of a venue,

the fans are only good to the point as we buy tickets

and thats all.

The people with real class are us the payiong public,

i always thought Amitji and family were different and

beyond this,  I was proven wrong with humility.

I can only speak for myself and family, and only told

you what we heard from others. i have a copy of the

cashiers check but what good would that do. by

forwarding me email you guys at Wizcraft have put the

lives of my family in jeopardy..

Its a shame that the person i grew up watching, the

reason I learned Hindi couldnt wait another 10 min to

fullfill the fans request.

We are hurt and saddened, more my wife than anybody

else. I brought my newborn to enjoy what I enjoyed

growing up…Amitji.. A story that will never be told

to him ever.

Im a hurt fan with a wife who is totally devestated,

not only because she could not meet Amitji but the

amount of money we spent from tickets to airlines to

hotel to changing flights again to time spent waiting

in line for hours with a newborn in hand to

babysitting of our other two children in San

Francisco.

Its sheer total frustration and disappointment.

Im sorry to be writing such harsh comments but the

fact is a fact and the truth will always be supreme.

i hope after reading this email that this will stay

private and not be disclosed, even now while writing

this email im getting phone call from Chicago, scared

to answer, knowing that we have already been

threatened.

A lost fan

Dear Amitji or may I call Dad,that is how I see you as I lost my dear father 2 years ago,
I am Priya Gandhi,Parag Gandhi’s wife extending my deepest heartfelt apologies from me and my husband-his intention was not to demean you at all-he was very upset and frustrated with what happened in Chicago-we tried every way to meet you in Oakland,Ca but could not since we were asked to pay ridiculous amounts of money which we could not afford….I was,is and will be your diehard fan,no matter what happens….so I decided to give it another shot to meet you in Chicago as the promoters promised….I watched your show twice,in Chicago I was with my 1 year old Aryan who sat through the entire show, you even blew him a kiss from stage as I was right infront of the stage carrying him and up on my feet and never sat down even for a second….Dad,I would like to meet you and sincerely apologize to you,I can even go on stage and do it infront of the world because it was not Parag’s intention to do so….I am ready to bear all expenses to come see you either in New York or in London….pl. oblige and give me the permission to meet you,I tried twice by all means and my efforts proved futile, please give us one more chance….I am Tamil speaking from Chennai and learnt Hindi just to watch your movies….I’ve been through a lot in life,I lost my first husband in cancer when he was 35 and now Iam happily married to Mr.Gandhi and we are both your die hard fans and will be forever….APOLOGIES sincerely to you and Love you and respect you with all my heart….Priya Gandhi, Parag Gandhi’s wife.

This response is to all the people who want to know who I am,
Im Parag gandhi I did the Bachchan show in 93 in Chicago at Rosemont Horizon, In 91 I brought Jooma Chumma Theatrical release to Lane Tech High School where Amitji agreed to come and meet the crowd.
Not once have I blamed the artist for the problem in Chicago, I know that promoters are the ones that control the action, being a past promoter myself.
I never once in the times i have done a show ever lied or cheated or gave false promises to a fan, and never ever I have ever taken money to promise pictures.
As far as going to Oakland we did, we came to Chicago is because this is my home town, I do have a baby but there is no need to bring my wife or baby into the mix, The Chicago promoters know my baby was with me, because we met them here. I care not to disclose any further info, we have numerous threats from the local promoters already, since they have been questioned by Wizcraft. There is need to go further, I know Amitji will get to the bottom of this and trust him dearly. All you people wake up I am not dragging or blaming the stars in this, never had and never will.
Only stating Event Organizers(Wizcraft) should do their diligence on who they give the shows to, thats all…
I hope this satisfies all the negative feed back toward me, though I’m not answerable to anybody except Amitji and Wizcraft..
I have the utmost respect for Amitji, we all know the blame is on the promoters for any miss communication betwwen the stars or the fans.
But at the end of the day..
Promoters will always brush it off as the fault of the artists…its been like that all over the world.
my family loves Amitabh and always will.
We are just making him aware of the situation and to help protect his honest and integrity in his future concerts. this stuff will happen somewhere else where they will perform, hopefully people will get wise after reading all these blogs.
Thank You Amitji for a fantastic show in Oakland and a great show in Chicago, and wishing you continued house full venues in New York and London.

God Bless

Parag

They apologized and kept giving explantions and I thought we were all very harsh on him and he just wants to get a point accross that promotors take money for meet and greet. After reading todays blog I feel that they have misused ur blog to get attention. Its very sad that Mr. Gandhi not only is wrong but also a rascist. I dont understand why every good thing or an event always has a controversy attached to it. Its an excellent show and every single one has worked so hard and instead of hearing about your day today expreiences that you wrote earlier like the street performers and New york life, I am sorry you have to deal with this. This is indeed too complicated to understand. It seems that Parag is contradicting himself about whether to blame you and the stars or the promoters. At this age, the son will have no recollection of this event!!!. People can’t remember anything prior to age 3 or 4.

To more imprtant things: Happy Independence Day to you and all Indians out there!

Good luck with your new film releasing today. Normally I would see it opening day but I am seeing your show tonight.

It is obvious that all they wanted was to meet you and come on very few people will go to the trouble of catching two shows in two different cities. Give them a break and acknowledge their “fan” value - whatever that means. Heck, I did not have a heart to leave my older kids (6 and 3) in Boston and come to NYC for the show. Dear Mr.B,
It seems like from reading all these posts, emails etc. that ofcourse Mr.& Mrs.Gandhi had some inconvinience during the show and they may have been able to get some kind of verbal commitment on local promoter side to get them in.
Now, all that being said their story has lot of holes in it too. Mr.Gandhi has used word ‘New born’ several times in all his communications while Mrs.Gandhi keep calling their sone one year old. Mr.Gandhi is blaming $2000 VIP tickets as part of the loss but he himself agreed to buy VIP tickets to sit in front rows, that has nothing to do with him being able to meet you personally. I think I lost any sympathy for him when be brought ‘Race’ card into the equation. He says that he was born and brought up in USA and he still talks about being discriminated because of race/religion is absured. If I had to judge the whole thing in brief, I would say they are trying every thing (as they say in hindi sham, dam, dand, bhed) to meet you and I think it is just plain wrong on their part. Also, he is forgetting that population of people from India and neighboring country has doubled or may be more in USA since 1993.

Mr Gandhi and others have a valid point but due to death threats , Parag is backing out. We know what the promoters did in toronto. We have seen in chicago. Good to see that promoter in vancouver put his foot down. The prices charged by these artists are so high that promoters have been left with no alternative than to resort to such tactics. In toronto people with $30/$60 tickets were seen sitting with $ 100 ticket persons. This is first time in history that promoters are doing this kind of thing due to the high amount charged by the artists. If Mr Parag says that muslims were allowed to go inside and meet him and they were told to wait–he must be right. Race/caste/religion favouritism exists everywhere.Hats off to Vancouver promoter. He preferred to cancel the show than paying an exhorbitent amount to these artists. Let us not suppress Parag just being he is a whistle blower.

these people are really confused and according to me no more importance should be given to them and none of your fans are doubting you so let wizcraft deal wit it. you should in no way meet them specially in newyork or london . I think that would not be justified because if their story has a pinch of truthness than the other people waiting in the line will get upset and all will demand a meet . so just leave them as they have no proof . i just had heard in houston that people who buy vip tickets get to meet you but have no details futher on that as i had not bought one.

On one side he writes on your blog to say sorry to you and on the other hand he starts blaming you again on the email sent to WizCraft.
I believe Mr. & Mrs Gandhi have no relavent facts and are just trying to shoot in the dark. However, it is very important to get to the bottom of this to prove his remarks false, so no one in the future would think about getting in the limelight by making false accusations.

Please its is just an ego issue with you because you and your family did not get a chance to meet and great them… as an outsider reading this it all sound like that it is just mr parag ego was hurt and you are acting out… its understood you have a young child but who is telling you to travel for 4 hours from one town to another to see the show again… you are doing that because of your choice regardless of what anyone promises you…. i mean go see the dame show enjoy it and go home what is the big deal if you don’t get to meet them… think about it there are people who pay $50 bucks for the ticket, go see the show ,enjoy it and go home… look at the the hard work the starts are putting in they barely get to be in one city for not more than 24 hours perform and then travel the next day for the next show.. . Simple… Mr Bachan please don’t waste your time with all of this… even though i am not able to see your show in new york this weekend i know that you and your team will rock it nyc you are the super star……… lots of love AMZ…….

why would a “sensible” man with 3 kids (2 from wifey’s earlier marriage) to look after spend such enormous amount of money to get a photograph with Mr. Bachchan? (didnt he meet you in 1993 show anyway?) Wouln’t he be better off using that money from his own’s family’s sake?? and now he is talking about showing up at London show…verryyyyy interesting person!

Amitji has asked for response from the readers of his blog.

I just feel that we are spending too much time on this issue of mr. gandhi. We should not kill the momentum of a man who wishes to express himself through this medium by taking so much time on issues of personal nature.

I am receipient of personally signed photos that Jayaji couriered to me from Mumbai to London on my request when I met them just casually. Not one but three pictures of jayaji and three pictures of Amitji one for my wife, son and daughter. Now that clearly rests the case that the bachchans are not untouchables but truly unforgettable.

I think what is unfair is that parags e mail address was made available on the blog.

I read this blog purely to enjoy the freedom of expression that Amitji enjoys via this medium but still entitled to his privacy. It is joy to hear a heart out. Alphabets are just letters but the way they are weaved and stitched together makes the difference and that is poetry. I am not saying he is being poetic here but I feel this is almost his own attempt to connect with himself and express himself to the values he believes in even if they are not the ones in which he lives. Let him get harmony in his life of thought, action and deed.

lets just enjoy this expression of writing and not turn it into a traumatic experience for him to read back what the readers write.

    Dear Mr.Amitabh,

A lot of dirty linen is washed in public by Mrs.& Mr.Pag Gandhi and M/s.Wizcraft and Big B’s name is also bought in. Please conclude this the way that they may be right and they may be wrong after all the customer is the king. Concert organizers were not selected on the basis of their track records or level of education. Many film concerts were organised by Don Dawood Ibrahim. The nexus in between the Hindi film industry and the underworld is known to even kindergarten kids. The qualification for organising any concert is merely money and money power only or at times musle power. At various occassions some front men were used to hide the real promoters identity. They may use their ill gotten money for such grand occassions also.Forget Mrs & Mr. Parag and M/s.Wizcraft as both were two sides of one coin only. Mr.Parag himself accepts that he organised a concert of Big B in 1993 and now in 2008 it is the turn of M/s.Wizcraft and hence I don’t see any difference in the attitude of both of you.

We have seen musicians, actors, actresses ,producers directors dances to the tune of Dawood and his hench men in various TV channels. We have seen actresses arrested with dons and sent to high security prisons in news channels.Ask Mahesh Bhatt the status of filmwallas. Like every spheres of life in Indian society, the film society is also filled with the good, bad and the ugly.Someone sponsors someones birthday party and at the fag end you can see the host covers his/her face and weeping inconsolably. Some so called celebrities are not ready to act with some others. This is Bollywood. So please just enjoy the show and leave the rest for speculation. It is very simple mathematics that promotors were organising concerts for their monetary gains.

Bygones are bygones! Forget ! It is better late than never. Big B’s illustrations about his mother touched my heart. But one doubt is that once your mother ordered you to bounce back on your childhood foes and you punched them. If so why you failed to punch a single mugger in the Hotel? It touched me most where you said that you Late Shri. H.Bachchan & Srimati.Teji bachan recited together and now that two voices were silent.

Your best blog till date is this one about your mother. Gandhis come and go every now and then.Avoid such things in future. But hearing your mother from you got a place in our heart for ever.Ostensibly, due to the fact that I am living far away from my mother and father and hence it touched me more.

    Thanks,
