Since we are on the subject, I think it might be interesting for you to know more about my family’s visit to Tirupati. We have always followed entry procedures provided by the management of the shrine, where no special privileges have ever been extended to us. I deny breaking any queue for the purpose of an exclusive darshan. Hundreds of other devotees, including stipulated
VVIPs of the state, were present in front of the deity along with me and my family. My personal belief, however, has always been that there is only one VVIP at the Tirupati Temple, and that is the deity, Lord Balaji, for in the courtyard of the Lord, all humans are equal. The management follows a regime of tickets of different categories for admission: this in itself could be considered as an act of discrimination, certainly not of my doing. I have often visited several other shrines in the country - Vaishno Devi, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Ajmer Sharief, Haji Ali - where no such procedure exists.
Incidentally, a formal list of VVIPs has just been published by the Tirupati temple authorities, in which MPs are included. I believe that this would apply to my wife.
It has been reported that there is going to be an investigation into this incident. I anxiously await the results.
I have always maintained that charity needs to be done, not talked of. But since it has been brought up, with some impertinence, might I clarify the donation at Tirupati, since our visit to this shrine has recently been projected in the news. I have been wanting to make this donation for some years. The occasion of the marriage of Aishwarya to my son seemed to me the appropriate moment to make a gift of thanks for the great blessings of my family.
The temple runs various trust funds for a number of charitable purposes, including those of education and health care. I chose to contribute quite a significant sum to the feeding, free of cost, of thirty thousand of the poor. This is a task that the temple undertakes each and every day. My reasons for choosing this particular fund for my donation are, I think, self-evident: before one can dream of improving the lot of the poor in this country, one must simply keep people alive.

Respected Sir,
I’ve been one your fan for decades, enjoyed many of your movies and the morality that you have shown in real and reel life.
As regards the religious ritual controversy that are in the blog, I don’t know why the media drags and gives different hue.
Please don’t consider this as an attempt to evangelize or anything on those lines, I recently found a unique way of self realization path that is so simple yet is above all religion and takes one to where s/he is expected to reach. Nothing more can be said of the system unless on experiences on his/her own, the system is not popular as it is not advertised, is it intended for people who have the quest to explore more. My master says we come in this world till such time we evolve towards illumination (people chant gayathri mantra without experiencing where it can take them, this system truly invokes the heart where the everything lives within) If this interests you should check out http://www.srcm.org for more information.
Again, please don’t consider this as an attempt to influence anything otherwise please ignore this mail.

-Rajan

amit sir,
people including these writers making accusations against you, take impression from reports published in media.
they dont know real facts. media is to blame. without confirming it publishes anything.
you dont have to react to these fake allegations and that too individually. its understandable that matter was related with your son and DIL so you were under emotional pressure.
common people know you and not these writers. so dont worry much. they all are activist also and they have to be in news.
you should have called a press conference at that time to issue a common letter. or best was to sue outlook as court was going to ask a proof for what they claimed. media should be responsible.
every journalist will go on doing all tantra mantra methods for which they have accused you if their children have problems. they dont publish about their own supersitious manners. dont pay attention to them.
i have read that shiv sena had boycotted shanshah but great number of people saw it in mumbai.
people are your strength. if that relationship is fine then who cares for journalists, media and few politically ideology based writers?
as you always say you are not above law of land and we beleive that. and we beleieve that you never will do anything against india and its culture. we love you and will be loving.
please forget opponents. life is too short to meet with friends only why to waste time on opponents.
as you had said in KANK to Mrs Kher- AAP MERI BATON PAR JAIYE

Daer sir,
Please think a man feeding poor free of cost is charity or giving higher reneumeration to his/her service providers. In my view it is charity to pay high to ur service provider, rather than giving any thing freely which promote parasites.

Hello Amitji
I read your response to a learned gentlemen regarding the ‘manglik’ status of your beautiful daughter and the various rituals etc. which people say you did for the same. Let me tell one thing here. As you rightly said going to temples and praying is one’s way of living as Hindus or any other religious sects. If one believes in astrology and does care for the manglik or non manglik status etc it is one’s own right to do what one feels like doing to ward off the evil illeffects etc. My only daughter also is manglik and we also prayed to God to give her a good match and did pujas etc in temples. Since we are also staunch hindus and believe in the astrology, I dont think there was anything wrong in that. We are well read people and my daughter is a Doctor and she is a very religious person too. So with the grace of God we found a good match for her and they got married last year ..on 20 Apr 2007!! Yes the same day your son and daughter-in-law got married. I wonder why people have to point fingers at others for something which does not affect them. I am sure as citizens of a democratic republic like India, everyone has the right to believe in whatever their religious beliefs advice. There are so many other things to think about and try and do good for the country.

Respected Sir,
I must congratulate you for launching this blog. You are torch bearer of change in the cinema and also by launching this bolg, you have encouraged the older generation to be techno savvy.. I am a journalist and I would like to discuss with you about your movies and the upcoming changes in the movie making technology and acting, stories etc… I am not interested in the controversies surrounding you because I feel every actor has to sacrifice his personal life in order to remain in limelight. This is a forced choice on actors.
But one question is lingering in my mind for the last several years and I think you are the ideal person to answer this… Aren’t you get borded by constant appriciation showered by every person you meet? Doesn’t these praises annoy you?
I wish you best of luck and a rock solid health like your personality.
Thanks and regards
Shailesh

Dear Sir,
Like every guy in his 30s, I’ve been an ardent fan of yours since childhood, to the extent that I used to literally put aggarbattis on your snap as a 5 year old kid (lol!!). Somehow was it my fan following or what I don’t know why I also identify with your father when I read few of his autobiographies. In fact during a low time in my life as a teenager I read a translation of a poem of Yeats in Basere se Door. Those lines inspired me a lot at that time and helped me.
Anyways, you have really been silent during all the tough times and let people splash mud on you. Its good you have stopped doing that to some extent.
As regards Ash let people say. Who knows as your father dreamt of his father coming in his life in your form, your father could be party of the wish of Ash coming to your family!! (She too is born in Nov.!!)
All the very best.
Thanks & regards,
Rohit

Dear Big B,
Its an honor to write on your blog and hopefully you will have time to read this. As everyone else I am big fan of yours from New Jersey.
I saw you twice once in Giants stadium and second time in Edison garba. I do remember Giants stadium concert you had done, we waited for months to see you. My brother and I were single and studying (and off course not working full time). To pay for your concert we decided to take newspaper route for a month and bought ticket out of that. That money was well spent.
I wish you long and healthy life.

Hello Amit Ji,
This is Sreeti …Actually I am a great fan of yours.I know these terms might be very common to you….but you deserve this..for whatever you have done for Hindi Cinemas. And I am sure if I would have been of your generation…you would have definately been the frequent visitor in my dreams(sorry Jaya Ji). As far as I remember…….the first movie that I saw of yours was Abhimaan at the age of 8 and that made me think can a person be so natural in front of Camera……..like I dont know how? Hoping for your reply and to meet with you some day…..

Dear Sir,
I am a big fan of your versatility in acting genre and consider you to be one of the best actors this country has ever produced. I read your response to the ‘Tirupati visit’ article written about you and I agree with you. But perhaps you would like to explain why one of the most known persons on earth, certainly one of the richest persons in India would pose or try to prove himself as a farmer to grab land illegally. Sir, with such stardom comes great power and respect and one has to act accordingly and not stoop to cheap acts like the one I am talking about. If you want people to know that your donation at Tirupati temple was to feed the hungry then you should should also let people know why you acted like a thief and resorted to such acts. Sir, money once gone will come back to you, but the respect you have gained since all these years, once gone will never come back. You should guard it like your most valued possession and act in honorable manner. I would love to get a response from you. Thank you

Dear Sir,
I am happy to read your blog, and I currently reside between Seattle, Washington, USA, and Vancouver, BC… where I hope to see you and your family when you tour. I have not been able to connect with the right persons to purchase tickets. Hopefully, this will become clear, as I continue to make efforts. I am being too “chatty” when what has made me respond to your writing was this Response to Outlook 7, specifically your last paragraph. That is what I wish to address!!
It has filled my heart with joy and my eyes with tears, as I read what you said, here I paraphrase: in order to improve the lot of the poor, it is first necessary to simply keep them alive! YES! YES! This is SO important, so very important, not only in India, but in all countries. None should go hungry in a world where we have abundance if we can only find a way to spread it. It is not necessary to do it in some sort of “Look at what I am doing” fashion, but to simply GIVE that they may LIVE. May the Lord bless you, sir, and your family, as you continue to do what you feel is right.
I feel sure that it is by applying calm thoughtfulness to a problem, the proper answer comes. When we are busy attending to that which is necessary and good, we do not have time to deal with the “junk”. I am glad, though, that you have made this blog to share your thoughts with us in a sort of “open forum”.
Those who speak from malice and spend their time attacking others, must surely not have much time left to do good for those who most need their attention. That is what I have been taught by my elders, and I have attempted to teach these values to my son, and those young people I have had the pleasure to have in my home.
I hope to see you and your family in person later this year. Blessings to you all,
Elaine

Dear Mr. Bachchan,
Thank you for making the time to share your personal life with us despite what appears to be a hectic schedule.
I am a great admirer of your work but do not usually care which side of the bed you wake up on.
That is not meant as an offense — it’s just that I am not interested in your personal lives — as you are no different from anyone else I know except that you chose to be an actor, which places you in a very public domain. However, you are no superior than anyone else who has worked hard, is talented and has reached the top of their field.
But I am philosophically intrigued by choices made by “celebrities” and even more fascinated by their explanations afterward.
You write: “My personal belief, however, has always been that there is only one VVIP at the Tirupati Temple, and that is the deity, Lord Balaji, for in the courtyard of the Lord, all humans are equal.”
The question then is: How strong is that belief? Ie, when the temple goes against that belief and decides to create a list of “Very VERY Important People” (which, in itself, is a ludicrous concept) who are allowed special privileges, why is it that you would not say: “This is not acceptable to us. We believe we are all equal in the temple and we insist on being treated equally.”
Why would you not shun any privileges handed to you when the God you believe in would not, himself, have handed out such privileges?
Or, at the end of the day when the lights are out and the curtains drawn, do you believe, as George Orwell said, “All animals are equal. Some more equal than others.”
there is only one VVIP at the Tirupati Temple, and that is the deity, Lord Balaji
(Report abuse)
True very much.
In South India Gods are commercialized…I do not say that’s bad good infact.
It’s all about generating revenue and pumping money into some good cause.
As long as they do it’s great.
Now saying that if you got into temple with some special so where is the issue.
There are thousand people who does it and that to who are not celebrities…
Suppose you along with JayaJi, Abhishek and Aishwarya standing in the Q.
Then what who had protected you from the mob?
And you know interesting these same media ppl then would had posted comments like Bachhans do this for cheap publicity.
And the State politician would had said Bachhans did it to embrace the state government.
And the temple authority would have said they wanted ti ensure a quick response without prior darshan time hence they did this!!!
It’s so difficult to be a celebrity in India…
