1. I guess you are feeling these days much like a section of the Muslim community is often made to feel in this nation: Keep providing proof that you care for Mumbai and Maharashtra
Firstly, the premise of your query is something that I do not contribute to or believe in. I am also therefore, not qualified to address it in the manner you put it. So can we just remain with my part as an individual and not attempt to grind two stones in one stroke.
Secondly, I have said it before and shall say it again, that I shall conduct myself, a proud citizen of this country, according to, the Law of the land and its Courts, the Constitution and my conscience. Courts, Constitution and Conscience, my three C’s !! Nothing and no one shall find a place, even remotely, into these honourable portals.
Every individual in a free society has the freedom of expression and speech. And I honour and respect that.
But those that question me and my deeds or non deeds, need to know a simple fact.
I am a public figure, not a public official. I am not a democratically elected representative of the people, neither do I hold any Government public office. I am answerable ONLY to the three C’s and nothing else. People have the right to question me, as they do and must. But they do not have the right to demand proof for any activity of mine, particularly when they themselves are not eligible for such a misguided, heedless and a totally inappropriate, task.
2. Must be depressing and hurtful. To be made to feel like an outsider in a city where you have spent a lifetime in. Goons have been chucking beer bottles inside your premises.
I shall feel depressed and hurt if I have betrayed my conscience. Nothing else. I am not an outsider by any stretch of imagination. This land is my land as much as it is of every other citizen of our beloved country. I came to Mumbai in 1968 to pursue a vocation. I did not need a visa to come here. I have made this city my home for the last 40 years. I bought my first car here, and my own house. I met and married my wife in this city and both my children were born here. Both my children were married in this city from that same house. My two grand children were born in this city. My Father and my Mother spent their last years in Mumbai and died here. They were put to flames here and their ashes have mingled with the earth of this city.
This city gave me name and fame beyond anything that I may have deserved or hoped for. I am not leaving this city and going anywhere !!
Let them chuck a thousand bottles. Let them burn my effigies and conduct morchas in front of my house. Let them blacken my film posters and stop the screening of my films. Let them attack me with stones and lathis or whatever else is there in their arsenal. Let them abuse me in the print and electronic media. Let them implicate me in false cases and send me to jail.
I am not budging !!
They will have to shoot me to get rid of me !!
3. Do you accept the fact that you are one, paying the price of your enormous popularity and two, are a victim of desperate communal politics that has been unleashed by the MNS. You have been turned into the mascot of communal hatred without you enrolling for the job!
I do not accept what you insinuate, simply because I am illiterate about these aspects. You and your ilk, who are the keepers of this nation, are more educated than I am, to address this.
4. The latest Saamna piece comparing your situation with Rajnikanth must have hurt too. Although Bal Thackeray issued a clarification, the damage was done.
I feel honoured that I have a friend in Rajnikant and even more honoured that, despite my insignificance, I am brought into comparison with him. Bala Saheb has been a father figure to us and shall remain so, ever. In my growing up years my parents taught me that ‘when elders speak, the young listen quietly’. I quietly accept whatever my elder or his outfit has expressed.
5. Will the attacks on your loyalty to Maharashtra compel you to alienate yourself from doing things for your home state, UP? And will you now try harder to do more visible social work in Maharashtra? Say, opening a school for girls out here?
Accusations and insinuations are not going to make me change the course of my conscience. I shall do what I want to do and what I feel needs to be done ; whether it is in Maharashtra, or UP or Bihar or Punjab or Bengal or TamilNadu or any part of the Country. The people of this country have loved and given unbounded affection to my family and me. I am equal in the eyes of the entire nation and no one should stipulate what I must do or not. My sense of fairness and fortitude is not up for scrutiny.
6. Correct me if I am wrong, but your continued involvement with UP has perhaps more to do with your friendship with Amar Singh rather than deep emotions attached with that state. And either the Maharashtra politicians don’t understand this or simply don’t want to understand this.
You are wrong. And I shall correct you. Where was Amar Singhji when I fought the election from Allahabad. What does anyone, you included, know of my connections with UP, prior to my association with Amar Singhji. It is as though my association with any issue is a problem with the so called ‘discerning’. Repeatedly, the Amar Singhji factor is brought to the forefront, whenever the media or other exalted bodies have been unable to find credible reason on the matter under question. Its an assessment that I have lived through year after year. When it was Bofors, the tale was - “Its your proximity to the Gandhi’s that is your problem “. Conveniently, it swiftly changes to “my non proximity to the Gandhi’s that is my problem”, in more recent times. I suspect the same would happen if Amar Singhji were to find himself in the seat of power in the future, or some equally exciting permutation. How interesting to see what their refrain would be then. So I am attacked because of “my proximity to Bala Saheb”, I and my Miss World is attacked because of “my proximity to SP”. And on and on and on. Your argument Anil, as you can see is not as simplistic as it sounds.
Sometimes in life, situations demand the proverbial ‘whipping horse’. And there are a few ‘chosen’ people in this country that fit that bill.
7. Do you find it scary that netas in India keep getting away with it despite spewing communal venom, which is unlawful and unconstitutional?
I have zero political acumen. This could best be answered by one that has.
8. Do you feel insecure in Mumbai these days? Are you a worried man?
No. The State has provided me with security, which they feel is adequate. I have faith in the Maharashtra and Mumbai Police.
9. Your message for Raj Thackeray. And please eschew diplomacy out here, things seem to be going out of hand.
N.A
10. Your message for Marathi speaking people of Mumbai on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padva…
On this auspicious occasion wishing all a very happy and prosperous Gudi Padva.

Sir,
I am from Kerala and I have been a big fan of your for the last so many years. I live in UK at the moment and I will have to tell you that this blog will give us mortals an opportunity to interact with Amitabh Bachan, which was not possible before.
I have seen all of your films and you are an actor beyond comparison. You have excelled in so many different roles. But I have a small grievance to share. I think sometimes you act in movies those are not giving you enough scope for doing anything different. The movies I am talking about are technically superior and you have acted well, but that alone might not be enough at times. My humble request to you would be to choose your roles with bit more care.
To be honest, even if you reply to my comment, it will be very hard to believe that its AB who has actually responded. That being said, let me say that you are the Best and keep rocking!!!

Well,
I believe that you will always perform with all guns blazing in your future upcoming movies, we have never missed your single movie right from the Zanjeer till now.
May you will have everlasting success in future

Hi All, firstly I would like to say this is an awesome site…never seen such a thing b4 where the star interacts in such a manner with the somewhat common people. Hopefully it’s really Mr.Bachchan doing the replies because frankly this seems so good to be true.On a different note, I was just skimming through the entries and noticed alot of political and lets just say alot of “serious talk” does have to be only topics of the “Serious” genre or can we discuss other things such as Mr.B’s movies, the current news doing the rounds, you know the more bollywood related topics? Just Wondering….

I think going forward the era of synthetic journalism will continue to gain ground, as television channels multiply, software creation for these channels will remain a challenge. Thus each item becomes ” assumed newsworthy” for consumers. That is a misfortune.
In additions the political class seek political capital for extremely short term gains.
In such a situation, a public personalities are scrutinized to basically further the interest of the media and the political class.
I am certain that all this will level out some day, as individuals are free to form and state an opinion, without endangering the social fabric of the country.
Indians are evolving and it is only time before a sense of maturity and responsibility will set it.
Must say, that your conduct in public life is admirable and a certain role model for pubic personalities.

Hi
Mr Bachchan,
I’m from Toronto but from back home from Punjab. I would just like to say that it’s amazing how you make time and visit holy places of all religions with your family. Being a Sikh I felt very honoured on when I heard that you and the family had visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar. I beleive that’s very unique not everyone in this society does that and accepts all religions. Just wanted to say looking forward to the tour when it starts off in Toronto as your family has a huge fan base here and for sure back home in punjab to.

Sir, I was looking forward to your views on movies, the different genres you might be watching, your take the Tibet issue (if that is close to your heart).
I have already read your interviews in the respective papers.
The better part to this is that, The Times of India, where i became aware about your blogging endovour has not published your URL, but Aamir Khan’s. They are really funny publication. Since the whole story is about your initiative on blogging.

So glad to see you will be posting your original responses to the interviews hereo n the blog. It’s very rare that one gets to read “original” interviews these days.
I’m orginally from Pakistan and my whole family absolutely adores you. Infact, my parents and uncles and aunts have grown up watching your movies and today my dad has made me watch some of your movies from your younger days and I must say, I can’t help but re-watch them over and over. We are lucky to have someone like you to entertain us.
I’m looking forward to your movies once again this year. My most awaited one is God Tussi Great Ho..with Salman as I’m a die-hard fan of him. I believe you and Salman make a great onscreen father/son pair beside you and Abhishek.
Really looking forward to more of your blogs and of course your movies.
Has the schedule to your Tour come out yet? Would love to know if you’re coming anywhere near me in US. It would be an honor to see you and maybe even meet you personally!
Keep smiling and God Bless you!

I am quite distressed by the “outsider” issue. More painful was the manner in which daily bread earners were compelled to move out of Maharashtra. The politics has touched a new low. Any person who alinieates, terrorises people and creates disturbance in the country must be branded a terrorist and dealt with accordingly.
Mr.Bachchan, one can always trust you to give a politically correct and a dignified response. However I feel that this issue deserved a tougher response. I was also disppointed why nobody has come forward openly and branded this act as “terrorism”.

I am 40 yrs of age living in Bombay for all my life and have been your fan for almost as long as i can remember. It was the scene where you were chasing Mr. Pran . Be it acting or dignity or anything . No one compares to you. Hey.. I cant believe my luck that I am talking to the gentleman who has been my idol - be it be acting, hosting a show, commercials, or just a mere presence in a event. The way you carry yourself is par excellence…
Having a close look at your illustrious career, one sees a lot of ups and few lows as well… What i want to comment here is that the late 80s and early 90s era where you did some of the flick like JADUGAR, TOOFAN, AJOOBA, INDRAJIT etc do not go with your persona. What was the inspiration behind doing those sorts of movies??
IAm sorry to debut my innings on this blog by hitting a hard question, but i am sure, like always, you will answer the question with grace..
Thanks - More questions in que..

Dear Sir,
I don’t know why do I have this sense of ‘relief’ now…?
I really have been very perturbed with the way media has been behaving nowadays… they publish half-baked interviews - saying only things which make their copies look sensational - and thus give totally wrong meanings to whatever has been said by you.
With so many people logging on to net - and almost everyone having an opinion of his or her - it will be one helluva task for you to keep up with all of us here! You’ll not even be able to read all the comments, let alone reply to some of them.
And as you are more of a Busy B than just a Big B, I’d request you NOT to get too worked up here…. it’ll consume a lot of your time & energy.
Just chill & relax. We fans are your voice up here and we’ll interact with those who have any doubts about anything. You just go on posting your blogs and WE will ‘take care’ of people who don’t agree with you…

Hello Amitji,
I am big fan of yours, you are best actor, star, disciplined, obeyed person in the whole world. You are my idol. I really liked your films agnipath, baghbaan, sarkar, black and films with hrishikesh mukherjee. Keep it up.
I do remember all scenes of 70-80s films when every saturday my dad use to take me cinema in my schools to see your films.
I really like the films abhishek is doing in last 2-3 years (yuva, guru, sarkar).
Please keey carrying on doing good films although numbers are less.
I am eagerly waiting for SarkarRaj, Delhi 6, Drona.
I too young to give you advice but please avoid working with YashRaj films.
They always take benefit of stars who are on top.
They worked with rajesh khanna, you and anil kapoor when you were on top.
With Sharukh khan in 90’s and now they have signed akshay kumar, saif, kareena, and deepika padukone as they are doing well. Their quality of work nowadays is so rubbish. I know you are very close to them but please be aware of such friends who take benefits of you in good times.
Lastly no one has fundamental right to ask you what you do for different states.
Its government job to do social work and welfare of country not an individual.
I know you are too busy but please read my message whenever you get time.

I DO GET ANGRY ON YOU-
Sir,
I have been idolising u since my childhood. I still do rem the day ..wehn i was just 4 years old and i was refusing to sleep untill my parents get me the gramaphone record of your movie MUQADDAR KA SIKANDER, at last my dad relented. It was raining and he had to walk in knee deep water with me and an umbrella. He not only bought me the record of MUQADDAR KA SIKANDER but also the dialogue recording of KABHI KABHI which was released by (i believe) HMV on gramaphone. I still have it at my hometown.
At the age of 18 i debuted in the regional movie(assamese), i was consciosly trying to avoid the mannerism of your’s which i adopted while immitating you in my school days.
At times i was very disappointed and angry on you for doing below you standard movie and i choosed not to see it.Examples like- Ganga Jamuna Saraswati, Insaniyat, Mrityudata etc
But My hopes and my happiness grew many a fold and I admired you more in terms of role selection and your acting dimension post-Mohabbatein.
Your protrayal of Subhash Nagre in Sarkar was near most flawless. You may ask why near most flawless, it is because in the scene on the dinning table where u had the confrontation with Kay Kay, i felt for a second i saw The Amitabh Bachchan. If u see the scene, at one point u said ur famous nasal indicted “HAIN” which i felt the character Subhash Nagre cannot say. Otherwise i was elated with ur performance in it
But again my anger came out seeing you in movies like Nishabd and RGV’s Aag.U may not realise the kind of harm it did to your persona. But me being one of the general public know it. People are remembering you more for RGV’s Aag than Sarkar or Black.
When i was young, there was seldom any interview in the media about u, so i used to read most of the magazine in english, bengali and assamese to read about u. and then one day, i read an interview by Sri Hrishikesh Mukherjee in the bengali magazine “Desh”, where he said that he does have wonderful script written in keeping u and jayaji in mind. but he wanted u to approach him rather then him approaching u. Keeping in view the kind of script he writes i think its worth approaching his family and doing it posthumously.
I dont know if u are able to read this blog or not.but it is my humble request to please refrain doing movies for friends who wants to earn or enhance their career sitting on your shoulder.
Maybe people find it difficult to give suggestion to you because your larger then life persona scares them or they fear rubbing u the wrong way. I m not afraid or gonna loose anything telling you the truth about what we expect and what is wrong or right for you. My funda of caring, admiring and adoring a person means telling him what is good and what is wrong the true way and even if it means that u may not agree to meet me as a well wisher so be it. I m content that at least i spoke the truth.
I will tell you one true incident, one of my friend who works as a tea garden manager visited my place. As the tea garden areas are located in remote areas, they have to go miles to visit the garden and labs. Once my friend and his wife came back from office in the evening to find there child and the servent missing. After one hour the child and the servent came back home, on asking the servent where did they go, the reply was that the child forcefully took the servent to a polio vaccination centre to get vaccinated. My friend ask the small child why he did that, the child in his own lingo replied ” TV mein Omitab Bosson ne bola hain..”
See Sir, the kind of impact u have on people, so please refrain from doing movies which we as ur well wisher get disappointed.
Thanking you in a true well wishers way

Hi,
It has been disappointing that you have not issued any comments on the Raj politics on this blog. If someone like you who avoid taking any position on the behalf of north indians, then who will come out? You are protected, you are one of the most successful north indian in Maharashtra, you were given several awards and one recent was Legion d’honneur not only for promoting Indian culture and its values across the film but also for standing for the social values.
It is a shame.
I have seen a footage on IBN7 that north indians were being harassed by local gundas of Raj and you know how ? They were asking the question ‘ tera naam kiya hai? As I am doing phd in sociolinguistics in Europe but on Indian community, it provided me some clues on the violence with language as a tool.
Another example, from BBC News, a man was beaten in some part of Maharashtra and his hands were chopped off. He returned to Bihar the following day and I wonder how his family will survive?
You didn’t have guts to blast these gundas. What are you fearing? These gundas will come to your home?

Dear Amitji
apart from the three ‘c’-s, the court, constitution and conscience…please let us also thank you for your demonstrative courage, consistency and calm with which you have handled the MNS issue. there is no better sight than seeing you say ‘i am not budging’. after nearly 40 years of upholding the rights against the wrongs,…educating and entertaining us through the medium of cinema…what can be more beautiful and amazing than seeing you demonstrate the right way of living a meaningful life.
please keep going like you do. please keep us providing courage and confidence on the democratic ideals of our nation. if, god forbid…the day comes when you feel helpless for one reason or the other…please give a call….the whole nation will come on the street and fight for you.
one personal request…given the quality of ur writing and the clarity of ur thoughts…please put up some of ur creative writings [poetry, prose...anything] over the blog. we would be enlightened to read u.
take care and thank you for everything…

My Dear Amitji,
I am truly happy to see your blog.Hope you will keep writing on this .I do not believe you are doing this as a market gimmick.
Needless to say that I am a huge fan of yours and will always be.Would love to see you on screen but I would be lovelier to see you do something different where a facet of your true personality will reflect.Your command over language is amazing.Maybe you can become a real good poet or a writer.Or maybe you can express yourself in painting.
Long back I heard that you were planning to recite ‘Gita’. I am still waiting for that.In fact you have so much love and respect in society, you can truly change so many wrong things which are happening all around us.
May you live a very long and healthy life and may you be blessed with true joy and peace.I would love to meet you some day.

We people of India are with TRUTH and you are the one.
AB is a human being and his profession is to act in movies.
Please people understand him and dont interfere into his personal life and disturb him.Why are we questioning about his contribution to a particular state.
He is not required to give explanations of his personal doings.
He is a role model for Hardwork and sucess.
Just use him to develop the younger generations to follow him and learn how to do a profession.
AB we are with truth and we pray god to give good health and strength to be a model for others like us.

Dear Mr. Amitabh Bachchan,
Thanks for this window. You are now accessible. Since I grew up with your movies with great amount of invovment, they seemed to have thrown differnt significance at different stages of my life. As a student of literature and cultural theories, I perceive not only your films but also Amitabh Bachchan the phenonemenon as a powerful cultural text having the umbilical linkages with the quintessential biography of the nation and its aspirations. Bu your reemergence in the post angry young man phase or in the post KBC phase is more interesting. In fact this is the time when the socioeconomic situations are more complicated in the wake of transformational aspirations of a nation in the globalised context. But a profound insight in the new Bachchan is somehow eluding againt the current context. Is it because critical intrvention is no longer effective or not needed at all? Or is it because a self eradication or neutralization is inevitable in the present situation?

Who is Anil Thakraney? Never heard of him. But going by his questions (for example, Q9)…he appears to be a condescending type of person. Chances are that he will do more bad than good.
Sitting here in London, I see a glaring difference in how media conducts itself in London vs Mumbai. Except the Economic Times of Mumbai, everything else feels like a tabloid. There is a serious lack of credible and accountable journalism. And when we add that with divisive politics of MNS that no other party wants counter aggressively (a soft No is a bad No) — it does feel bad.
Yes, you don’t have to explain your personal choices and actions – to anyone, including on this blog, if you wish.

Hello, England sends its respect to you and your achievements Sir! I’m an actor/producer from London and have recently joined up with top Hollywood Producer Tom Todoroff to set up a Hollywood Acting Workshop in Mumbai & Delhi. We’re working in conjunction with Whistling Woods and Anupham Kher and the plannings going very well. I’m also in the process of making films with International students. There is a big Bollywoood following/market in the UK and I think it’s fair to say the next big thing will be english speaking films with and Indian cast. What are your points of view on this and the future direction of of the Bollywood/UK markets? Will you be involved in such projects in the future? I’ve had a lot of support from Producers and Directors in Mumbai and and am very grateful for that. It’ll be interesting to see which direction we go next.
I’m contactable via my website http://www.indian-ties.co.uk
Anyway, its great that you have this blog!

Respected Amitabh Bachchan Ji
Sabse pahle apke blog ke bare main that every one can get contact with you as it was not possible before. Isse apke prati aur apke virudhh jo bhi logon ki man main bhavnayen upji hongi, apse sidhe taur par ru-b-ru ho jayengi.
Dusra, as you replied to the anti-amitabh aur kshetravadi “Let them chuck a thousand bottles.
They will have to shoot me to get rid of me !!”
is a very good message you have passed to the people who have tried to disturb you for any means. They must think that,” wo koi bhi ho, chahe Thakre ya phir uska bhatija, every persone of the contry or beyond the country want to be Amitabh Bachchan, not Bal Thakre or Raj Thakre.
Dont worry, We all with you.

Hello Mr. Bachchan,
It was really nice when you ignored attacks from Raj Thackrey but in recent past you have become vocal about your sentiments/feelings (offcourse you too have freedom of speech) but you must understand that you have a great fan following and anything you do create ripples (so does Raj and he did no good). Now it is upto you to use this ripples for you or for society (needless to say, you have opted to use it for your own use).
I have been always taught that people who speak about other people are fools, people who speak about other people’s actions are average and people who speak about other people’s thought are the wisest.
Not even in one interview I heard Raj talking about you, he was talking about your actions and interpreted your thought process. Raj never said “I dont like Amitabh” he always said “I dont like Amitabh doing this or doing that”. Certainly he is not fool neither he is wise person as he never spoke about thoughts.
But you and your wife have came out targetting Raj saying “I dont know anybody named Raj” or “Raj doesnt deserves my attention”
Had you came out with an interview in marathi, dont you think it would be a tight slap on Raj rather than saying “I am not answerable to Raj and I consult only three bullshit C’s”
I dont care about your C’s but you need to answer me.
Do you think speaking in marathi would down grade your image?
Do you think you represent huge mass from North India who has migrated to Mumbai and speaking marathi in maharashtra would be an insult to the whole community?
Are you going to take this mandate to US/UK and start representing whole India and be answerable to only your 3 C’s?
Give me one instance when you gave interview in Hindi in US/UK?
Maharashtrians are the most forward thinking people in India and that is why we have reversed the traditional trend of people migration to fertile plains rather than to deccan plateau.
I have met lots of families in Pune/Nashik who basically are from North India but speak so fluent marathi that I myself get ashamed sometimes and remember these families have migrated just 5-6 years back.
If you are staying in Mumbai from 40 yrs and still dont know marathi, I would think Raj is right in his thoughts not in his actions because his actions involve violence.
And if you know marathi, then come out with an interview in marathi. Also I would like to mention that no matter what you do, I have a great respect for you and it would never reduce but it would certainly increase if you come out with good actions.
Lets see what you do.
