Pleasant skies, clear visuals and a surprising bright sun greeting …. from one that comes from the sun, seems deja vu, but given the circumstances of those that do not, it is desirable to be compassionate .. and so we are …

Meeting family is a joy forever. Spending time with them as you move about even better. We all live and operate in different continents and destinations, yet modern communication keeps us so close and informed and connected ..

My timing may not be suiting some of our Ef and the FmXt on the tweet, but when we connect we connect. Families are not built just on fresh air, it is in moments like these when understanding takes place, love and affection is realized unconditionally, that they last .. I shall always hope and wish for that ..

Freedom to walk the streets, to walk in parks, to walk into shops at will, is a liberty that such moments allow us .. it is in a way most liberating. Liberating for the soul, for the mind, for the body and importantly for us. One needs that different visual, changed circumstances, a viewpoint vastly aloof from the repeated mundane. Perspectives change, thoughts change. Why even at 38,000 feet it is strange that one gets the best ideas !! But of course getting up there every time an idea is required could be tiresome and perhaps not always possible. So one goes ‘up’ now and then lives with those moments and comes down to address them and put them into action.

I thought of many during this sky trip and am happy about them. Now to see their practicality !!

Alright .. to the sack then,  in softness and desire and dreams and other worlds, to be soon in greater detail and length later .. pardon .. with a French accent !!

Love to all,

Shocked and deeply grieved on learning of the tragic end of Taruni, the cute little girl friend of Auro in ‘Paa’ ! I had hoped that the news last night was incorrect, but sadly it has been confirmed this morning. Jomsom, Nepal at almost 10,000 ft in the middle of some of the most picturesque mountain ranges of the Himalayas was where the unfortunate crash took place. Jomsom was the base where we were parked during the making of ‘Khuda Gawah’, a small village in this most beautiful valley, cold and windy and yes … a most difficult airstrip to operate. The winds in the region are so strong after 10 or 11 in the morning that all flights are scheduled to land and take off before that timing. The strip when we were there was not cemented, but a gravel pitch and the aircraft that operated was a small twin engined propellor craft. Higher up where we would horse travel to shoot during the day, the winds were so strong that on occasion I would rest against its flow and take a short nap during breaks, merely leaning against. We had all stayed in mud quarters and with the height, many of us had to deal with breathing problems. A six hour horse trek for those that could not walk took us to MuktiNath, one of the religious ‘peeths’ of great significance. On one occasion when we had travelled to shoot there, Danny Denzongpa and I had stayed back just to catch the view in the early morning. It was bohemian living. Several trekkers would use this spot as a night stop on their way to higher climbs and would camp there. At night various tourists from different parts of the world would eat together, sing folk songs, dance and be merry throughout the night. In the morning there was just one tap out in the open for the water and all of us used it in turns for our morning formalities. In a small cave by the side of the main temple of MuktiNath there burned a flame. A natural gas phenomena, perhaps through deposits of the soil through the presence of certain chemicals, now through centuries being worshipped as an indicator of divine presence. It has been burning for thousands of years or so the priests said. But the mountain range – an incredible beauty of nature.

And today within this beauty, another beautiful soul departed. Taruni, a talented little child, who played much beyond her years, cute, confident and so immensely lovable. My prayers !

It is time for travel in a few hours and more shall be described as the days pass, which is why I connect early. Be well and in good cheer.

The entire day yesterday was spent in recording the registrations for the next season of KBC. A bit long and stretched day, many promos to record, but all done and canned. They should be playing soon and if I get them ahead of their broadcast I shall put them up for your perusal and opinion .. here then some pictures of the shoot ..

Good night …
